    Web:
Seem to have been reading, but not so much writing. I need to
    correct that.
Games page has seen a lot of work on the new LotRO legendary
    servers.
I like the Players pages where it has all players, not separated
into types so it's fast to see.
Probably good since the legendary servers also don't have tons of
    people.
Any other membership or web news?

    Lord of the Rings Online:
Eonwe has the two legendary servers up on the Games Site. We're
    working to update them now.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:18 PM
    Aiya Arien!
    VardaToday at 4:19 PM
I am also available to kin anyone needing it on any LotRO server.
Just let me know. Currently on Ithil.
The Harvestmath Festival (encore) is going and continues through
    December 9.
Any other LotRO news anyone wants to mention?
In LotRO, we do need to be deciding which server we most want to
    push for our group.
Anor was first and so we currently have more playing there, a big
    plus. More developed characters.
    ArienVToday at 4:22 PM
    Aiya Phari
    FalcoToday at 4:22 PM
I'm open to move as needed.  Currently have three on Ithil
    VardaToday at 4:22 PM
Ithil has the advantage that it has fewer people on the server, so
when expansions come up we don't have lines of over 200 people for
    every character swap.
We have some folks that need kinned on both Ithil and Anor. I'm
available right now for any server. Falco is available for Ithil.
I intend to keep both branches open, but one needs to be our main
    legendary server.
Go ahead and think about it, but let me know if you have an opinion.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:24 PM
    Why not both?
    ArienVToday at 4:24 PM
i tend to play a bit more on Ithil since Frali is the more stable
character .. Liri is fun but dies a bit fast ^^['
    VardaToday at 4:25 PM
We will keep both going, Phar.
Ok, we may just go ahead as a split.
Then whenever the traffic is too rough on Anor, we can move to
    Ithil, and all is well.
I am still keeping Landroval as our main, of course. The legendaries
are great side fun, but not nearly as developed.
We will eventually have our kin houses in Belfalas, but for starting
we might have one in Bree on Ithil. So far only the Hobbit area has
    been suggested for Anor.
    FalcoToday at 4:27 PM
Maybe it's just me or the fact I haven't played the lower levels in
awhile but I have noticed several areas have been updated.
    VardaToday at 4:27 PM
I was not voting but could...
    You're right, they have.
The legendaries are helping show off all that work in the lower
    areas too. : )
I might get a personal house in the elf area on one and dwarf area
on the other, though. : )
    Any other news, suggestions?
    FalcoToday at 4:29 PM
Most of the Bree household areas are sold out
    only Kin Houses available
    VardaToday at 4:30 PM
You had a neighborhood where your Bree house is?
    ArienVToday at 4:30 PM
what about the dwarf area? do you want me to check?
    VardaToday at 4:30 PM
and more will open up with expansions, most likely.
No need to check. We can't get one until the kin is level 7.
That takes a lot of time, just time, nothing we can do to push
it along. Shows we're at least somewhat stable.
We will eventually grab a Belfalas island in any case. I may need
help with writs this time around though.

Anything else? Eve or other folks want to tell their news?
    Diablo? etc?
    CelebrianToday at 4:33 PM
Aiya. We don't really have any gaming news for Eve. We haven't been
    playing much.

    VardaToday at 4:33 PM
hah, I could give our LotRO players report, nearly forgot.

    CelebrianToday at 4:33 PM
    Been playing single player RPGs.
    VardaToday at 4:33 PM
Ok. Do you need kinned on Ithil or Anor? Give us a holler or tell?
    Pillars of Eternity is what?
    CelebrianToday at 4:34 PM
I will. I doubt I will play much on those servers. I have too much
to do on Landroval with all my other games.
    VardaToday at 4:34 PM
It's just for fun now and then. : )
    CelebrianToday at 4:34 PM
I'm playing both Pillars games and Elrond has been playing Divinity
    VardaToday at 4:35 PM
I've been running the resource instances on Landroval
    CelebrianToday at 4:35 PM
I did pick up about a level and a half on Landroval but I havent had
    time to play this week.
    VardaToday at 4:35 PM
Anyone on Guild Wars 2 and know how Irmo and Miriel (Maha) are
    doing?
    Grats, Celebrian. : )
An mmo is nice for the long haul play.

    ArienVToday at 4:40 PM
    indeed  he fought Melkor ^^##@#
    VardaToday at 4:40 PM
and thank you for the musical accompaniment!
    Thank you.

Why did Fingolfin, the High King of the Noldor, go alone to call out
    Morgoth for single combat?
    Sounds suicidal.
Was it ego, as so many famous Noldo unfortunately seemed ruled by?
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:41 PM
Some kind of furious desperation, it seemed like. Eager to stop the
war and save the rest of his people.
    VardaToday at 4:42 PM
How about rage and despair over what he saw as the utter ruin of the
    Noldor?
Didn't he see the war as already lost?
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:43 PM
Yes, which made his way the best way to still get a victory out of
    it. If he won.
    VardaToday at 4:43 PM
Could he really believe he could beat Morgoth?
Maybe a Nordic style victory, make a brave ending?
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:44 PM
Maybe. Maybe make him pay at least a little bit. Or maybe it was
just the best hope, small as it was.
    VardaToday at 4:44 PM
    True.
Silmarillion "Of the Ruin of Beleriand"
Now news came to Hithlum that Dorthonion was lost and
the sons of Finarfin overthrown, and that the sons of Feanor were
      driven from their lands.

    ArienVToday at 4:44 PM
    or prevent more killing
    draw him off maybe
    VardaToday at 4:45 PM
Then Fingolfin beheld (as it seemed to him), the utter
ruin of the Noldor, and their defeat beyond redress of all their
houses; and filled with wrath and despair he mounted upon
Rochallor his great horse and rode forth alone, and none might
      restrain him.
He passed over Dor-nu-Fauglith like a wind amid the dust, and all
that beheld his onset fled in amaze, thinking that Orome himself
was come: for a great madness of rage was upon him, so that his
eyes shone like the eyes of the Valar.
Thus he came to Angband's gates, and he sounded his horn, and
smote once more upon the brazen doors, and challenged Morgoth to
      come forth to single combat.
      And Morgoth came.

    ./endquote
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:46 PM
Banging on the doors like an angry neighbour.
    VardaToday at 4:46 PM
    hahah
    ArienVToday at 4:46 PM
Despair .. "if i have to die i ll die at least fighting*
    VardaToday at 4:46 PM
    Right.

Why did Morgoth bother to go to a single combat with Fingolfin?
Why not stay inside and enjoy lunch?
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:47 PM
Maybe send a balrog to pick him off instead?
    VardaToday at 4:47 PM
    or that. Send minions.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:47 PM
I'm guessing he couldn't show weakness in front of his minions
    though.
    VardaToday at 4:47 PM
    Well said.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:47 PM
Or maybe it was overconfidence and amusement at this puny
    challenger.
Hadn't had his daily exercise yet.
    VardaToday at 4:48 PM
    Heh.
    ./quote
That was the last time in those wars that he passed the
doors of his stronghold, and it is said that he took not the
challenge willingly; for though his might was greatest of all
things in this world, alone of the Valar he knew fear.
But he could not now deny the challenge before the face of his
captains; for the rocks rang with the shrill music of Fingolfin's
horn, and his voice came keen and clear down into the depths of
Angband; and Fingolfin named Morgoth craven, and lord of slaves.

    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:49 PM
Ah, I was right the first time

    VardaToday at 4:49 PM
Therefore Morgoth came, climbing slowly from his
subterranean throne, and the rumour of his feet was like thunder
      underground.

    ./endquote
    Aye, you were. : )

What equipment as in armor and weapons did each have?
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:50 PM
Morgoth was clothd in all black, with a face-hiding helmet, and a
giant mace, as I recall. First incarnation of grond.
    ArienVToday at 4:51 PM
maybe also a bit admiration for the brazenness of the challenge
not that he would admit that of course
    VardaToday at 4:52 PM
Which suggests we can add what attitudes they had that might have
helped in the fight as well.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:52 PM
Fingolfin.. I wanna say sword, based on the memory of the artwork.
    VardaToday at 4:53 PM
    Well-researched artwork. : )
Ok, back to quotes, starting with Melkor:
And he issued forth clad in black armor; and he stood
before the King like a tower, iron-crowned, and his vast shield,
sable unblazoned, cast a shadow over him like a stormcloud.
But Fingolfin gleamed beneath it as a star; for his mail was
      overlaid with silver, and his blue shield was set with crystals;
and he drew his sword Ringil, that glittered like ice.

    ./endquote
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:54 PM
    Fingolfin was in blue?
I don't recall that from the artwork.
    VardaToday at 4:54 PM
Fingolfin had a horn, his voice, his horse Rochallor, mail, helm,
shield, and sword. He had courage and dexterity.
Morgoth had armour, an iron crown, shield, and hammer. He had
enormous size, strength, and stamina, and his strikes caused broken
    terrain.
Fingolfin's mail was overlaid with silver. HIs shield was blue.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:55 PM
silver, blue, and ice... eh, still blue-ish theme
    VardaToday at 4:56 PM
Aye, and a light shining theme.

What damage did Fingolfin manage to do to Morgoth?
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 4:57 PM
My memory is saying... 7 cuts?
    VardaToday at 4:57 PM
    Right
    Interesting number there.
The actual fight is only two (large) paragraphs, but boy what
    paragraphs.
    ./quote
Then Morgoth hurled aloft Grond, the Hammer of the
Underworld, and swung it down like a bolt of thunder.
But Fingolfin sprang aside, and Grond rent a mighty pit in the
earth, whence smoke and fire darted.
Many times Morgoth essayed to smite him, and each time Fingolfin
leaped away, as a lightning shoots from under a dark cloud; and he
wounded Morgoth with seven wounds, and seven times Morgoth gave a
cry of anguish, whereat the hosts of Angband fell upon their faces
in dismay, and the cries echoed in the Northlands.

    ArienVToday at 4:59 PM
there was an 8th with his dieing breath
and it is said that Morgoth limped from there on . it was a cut in
    his letg
    lieg
    VardaToday at 4:59 PM
    Aye.
But at the last the King grew weary, and Morgoth bore
      down his shield upon him.

    ArienVToday at 4:59 PM
    lrg
    leg
    VardaToday at 5:00 PM
Thrice he was crushed to his knees, and thrice rose
again and bore up his broken shield and stricken helm.
But the earth was all rent and pitted about him, and he stumbled
and fell backward before the feet of Morgoth; and Morgoth set his
left foot upon his neck and the weight of it was like a fallen
      hill.

    ArienVToday at 5:00 PM
sorry i got a new keyboard .. so typing is a bit .. err random at
    times
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:00 PM
Can escape the hammer, but not the shield. Must be bigger.
    VardaToday at 5:00 PM
Yet with his last and desperate stroke Fingolfin hewed
the foot with Ringil, and the blood gushed forth black and smoking
and filled the pits of Grond.

    ./endquote
Fingolfin tired, didn't have giant Morgoth's stamina.
And there's what Arien said about the foot.

    of the battle?

Thus died Fingolfin, High King of the Noldor, most proud
and valiant of the Elven-kings of old.
The Orcs made no boast of that duel at the gate; neither do the
Elves sing of it, for their sorrow is too deep.
Yet the tale of it is remembered still, for Thorondor King of the
Eagles brought the tidings to Gondolin, and to Hithlum afar off.

    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:05 PM
Morgoth comes back in with a limp, scars on his face, rumbling at a
frightened orc "Let's never speak of this again."
    VardaToday at 5:06 PM
    : )
And Morgoth took the body of the Elven-king and broke
it, and would cast it to his wolves; but Thorondor came hasting
from his eyrie among the peaks of the Crissaegrim, and he stooped
upon Morgoth and marred his face.
The rushing of the wings of Thorondor was like the noise of the
winds of Manwe, and he seized the body in his mighty talons, and
soaring suddenly above the darts of the Orcs he bore the King
      away.
And he laid him upon a mountain-top that looked from the north
upon the hidden valley of Gondolin; and Turgon coming built a high
      cairn over his father.
And he laid him upon a mountain-top that looked from the north
upon the hidden valley of Gondolin; and Turgon coming built a high
      cairn over his father.

What long-term effect did that battle have on Morgoth? Arien already
    got this one pretty much.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:07 PM
The scars. The limp. The never leaving Angband again.
    VardaToday at 5:08 PM
    Aye.
Morgoth went ever after halt of one foot after that day,
and the pain of his wounds could not be healed; and in his face
was the scar that Thorondor made.

What happened to the succession of Fingolfin's kingship?
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:09 PM
Was Fingon still alive at this point?
    VardaToday at 5:09 PM
    Yes.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:09 PM
    Then him.
    VardaToday at 5:09 PM
    Very good!
Great was the lamentation in Hithlum when the fall of
Fingolfin became known, and Fingon in sorrow took the lordship of
the house of Fingolfin and the kingdom of the Noldor, but his
young son Ereinion (who was after named Gil-galad) he sent to the
      Havens.

And that's the end of what I had for folks today. : )
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:10 PM
    Gotta secure the bloodline.
    VardaToday at 5:10 PM
A great and heroic battle, single combat.
And Gil-galad came back later, messed up Morgoth's heir's plan with
    the Ring. : )
    Heir vs heir.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:11 PM
But didn't leave an heir, right?
    VardaToday at 5:12 PM
Sauron took over Morgoth's work after him, once strong enough. But
wasn't nihilistic, just wanted to rule it all.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:12 PM
    I meant Gil.
    ArienVToday at 5:14 PM
Gil Galad no  .. but well sort of didnt he? there was still his
    cousin or niece ?
    Galadriel ?
she sort of carried on the fight against Sauron as Morgoths heir ..
    in Lothlorien
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:15 PM
    Hmm. Aunt? No...
Must be a term for it.
    VardaToday at 5:15 PM
The kingship of the Noldor and high elves ended with Gil-galad, who
    had no children.
Some wanted to make Elrond have that title, but he refused, iirc.
Fingolfin's sister in later writings was Finduilas.
Cirdan became lord of the Gray Havens and Lindon.
Gil-galad was the son of Orodreth.
Orodreth was the son of Angrod whose sister was Galadriel.
The siblings of Galadriel were  Finrod, Angrod, and Aegnor.
    ArienVToday at 5:20 PM
    so cousin eh?
    no Aunt it is
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:21 PM
    great aunt, I'd say
    ArienVToday at 5:21 PM
    thats it |^^
    VardaToday at 5:21 PM
Finduilas was betrothed to Gwindor, got side-tracked by Turin. So no
    children from her.
Galadriel was the survivor of the family by the time of the One
Ring's return, but had to pull back from such high titles, trying to
be allowed to return to Valinor. That was  also why she was
able to pull back from the One Ring, had some practice.
    So, "it's complicated".  : )
So she had a claim to the High Kingship for the elves in
Middle-earth at least, a reason she's considered one of the really
    great elves of that time.
    Marrying a Sinda didn
did not help that claim though.
That warrior Celeborn was just too cool for her to pass up.
    ArienVToday at 5:27 PM
well .  silver hair must be fascinating
    VardaToday at 5:27 PM
She had a bit of silver in her gold, from a bit of Sinda too. And
    yes.
He was also one of the great warriors of that time, easy to miss
with Galadriel overshadowing him like a high priestess with her "not
    magic!".
Thank you for joining in the discussion. That was fun.

    May-be.
Might have heard Arien's comment about silver.
    It probably dithered between choices.
    But aye, black.

pet and armor and a frame i think
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 5:36 PM
Hmm, the armor and frame are standard for the seasons.
But it's usually either pet or banner on top of that.
Sometimes wings, but haven't had those in a while.

    a pet this time

    Starting with flashgaming then!
    http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/big_tower_tiny_square
is the first game. I think I linked the sequel some time ago.
Platformer, you play a tiny square that has to make it past
obstacles over several rooms in a large tower, to make it to the
top. Infinite lives, and a lot of checkpoints, so you can fail as
    much as you like!

is an adventure/puzzle game, the prelude to a larger game on Steam,
but still fun in itself. Travel around town, talk to npcs, get fetch

Immediately after she adopts a lost puppy,
Danu#39s day takes a turn for the worse. She has to...
There are also short episodes of the same series around, I think I
linked a more puzzly one in the past.
Now for the last one, I don't play idle games much (except cookie
clicker), but this one caught my eye. An archer defense game
where you level up, get a lot of skill points and upgrades and
achievements, and can let the archer shoot his way through in the
background while you occasionally pick upgrades for him.
It's also like.. 2 days old, but has been frequently updated in that
time, to balance the pacing and add certain features, like
"prestige" where you can reset your game and get a bunch of starting
skill points as a reward. Other bonuses and updates yet to come.
They're trying to fix the saving, but that's not working for me in
firefox right now, as I have to start over again each time
regardless of autosaves or trying to manually save. But I hope
that'll get better, and otherwise chrome might work.
Oh, whoops, didn't actually link it

Oh, on Chrome it does save.
Makes things more complicated, since I usually don't run chrome and
firefox and wow at the same time, for performance reasons.
But I might still make some niche use of it.
    VardaToday at 6:11 PM
    Thanks, that's helpful info.
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:12 PM
    Maybe they'll fix it

    Blizzarrrrrrd gaming
    Hearthstone:
Bit more quests done here and there. New expansion should hit this
week, with some free new packs, so I didn't bother saving up gold.
Brawl is a cooperative fight against Mechazod, but unlike previous
versions of that, this one is actually really hard, and it took me a
lot of tries without him just building up his attack fast and then
hitting the players in the face. Some luck and randomness required.
The players play a druid and mage with set decks, built to boost
each other as well as setting up certain mechanics to build up the
board, soak attacks, and bringing heavy damage before the boss kills
one or both of the players. If you're going to try it, be aware that
as the mage you will want to build up your spell damage minions, and
save your damage spells until you can take down big chunks of the
boss's health in one go. A good moment for a combo is when the druid
player plays his millhouse manastorm legendary to make all your
spells free for one turn. The druid is mostly based around putting
down small minions and then giving them temporary buff spells to
    slam them into the opponent.
Once you've got all that practiced, just have to hope boss doesn't
go for the face too often
In any case, had to try it so many times to get the win, that my
mage and druid class both got to halfway to the next level. Guess I
can leave them alone for a bit
    Ar-Pharazon-VToday at 6:31 PM
    Heroes of the Storm:
317 now, one level gained. Lucio to level 10  Single-lane
brawl this week, with 3 matches needed, was pretty tough and took a
while, since they can go pretty even. Still, I didn't have to pick
an unfamiliar hero any of the 3 times, and actually did pretty well
with Sergeant Hammer in the last match. So it was fun!
    WoW:
Raiding is dying down, really. Zul is still a pain without enough
people, and we had to cancel tonight's raid because of low numbers
and our raidleader having pc troubles.
Still, got a few new transmogs from earlier bosses, so that's nice.

Anniversary event ended, so no more green dragons around or the 14%
experience/reputation bonus item. Got a few new items from the green
dragons, but neither of the two weapons I was really after. Oh well,
kept the lootlist preserved among my many WoW lists so I can
    try again next year
Made good use of the reputation bonus, as well as the world quest
event. Pushed a lot of world quests on Kul Tiras for a few days. Now
I've got all 3 factions at just over 19k rep, which means one more
emissary (and the required world quests for them) will get each to
exalted. That will happen over the next week.
With that point reached, I could calm down on world quests a bit,
and there's only a couple of quests appearing every day now that I
haven't done yet, so I've got time left.
Got the weekly event quest for 20 world quests done in the first
day, anyway, so no need to watch out for that
Also did the brawl this week, with teams over 6 vs 6 in various
battlegrounds. Won my second attempt, both happened to be in the
    Silvershard Mines.
That got me enough conquest to complete the 500 bar, allowing me to
unlock a new appearance from the conquest questgiver, the shoulders
of the set. Between earlier rewards and various drops, I'm just
missing the cloak and various weapons now. But looking at the reward
list, cloak apparently does not come from the conquest cap quests,
and the only reason I'd need to continue getting more during this
season would be for higher ilevels or possibly more weapons, but I'm
not going to go through the rotation 3 times to get all those. I'm
sure they'll be purchaseable separately in later expansions. So
yeah, I can let conquest go for the rest of the season.
I also got my Heart of Azeroth necklace to level 31, and reputation
with Magni to revered. Doing the quests for that, the necklace is
now at ilevel 385, which is basically mythic raid level. So yay! I'd
say that's set for next season.
And finally, with the free time opening up, I decided to go for
story questing again  Cleared out the couple of quests I'd
found in the mountains in southern Drustvar, where you help out a
few Thornspeaker druids and a red dragon in disguise.
After that was done, I finally started the Pride of Kul Tiras
questline, to save Jaina Proudmoore from exile. I've now done the
Tiragarde section, including bits in Freehold as well as a run of
the Tol Dagor dungeon, and am set to start the Stormsong section
    tomorrow.
It would be nice if I get that questline done before I had to
complete the Admiralty emissary, so I can still make use of the
reputation gotten from the last couple of quests in the line
But if I do one section + dungeon every day, it should be done on
wednesday or so. So it might work out.
And that's my report for the week!
    VardaToday at 6:54 PM
    Thanks, Phar.
