hehe i ll look forward to it
on that side i have heard rumours that Blizzard are laying of

have you heard anything about that Phari?
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 4:31 PM
Yeah, I read the article they linked on mmochampion.
Apparently it's a wider practice over various regions, has been for
a while, and they're not actually encouraged to leave.
In this case it was just 100 people in one office that made the
news.
But customer service (that was the apartment) should still continue
well enough.

But yes. Combined with other interviews that talk about how they're
supposed to cut expenses in some way, or e-sports being cut from Heroes

It does not seem to bode well for Blizzard, but I'm still giving

But as long as I can make chapter 4, all else can wait?

This brings us to Tolkien
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:19 PM
hmm
one more general news bit
Blizzard winter sale is going on!
ArienVYesterday at 5:19 PM
Has anyone a suggestion for a Tolkien topic or a Tolkien
moment? That is a paragraph or poem that would ihave caught
your interest for some reason
righrt Phari go on
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:20 PM
Games, mounts, pets, almost everything except the most recent items
50% off!
ArienVYesterday at 5:20 PM
yes very handy for in game presis for friends
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:21 PM
Most focused item is a "see you later" bundle including 3 pets
(well, includes the moonkin, so 4), 3 mounts, and 3 transmog that
will go away "in hibernation" after the winter sale is over, and we
don't know when (or if?) they'll return. But regardless of that
shameless display of artificial scarcity for what is probably some
of their least selling items, it is still a very good deal, at about
2/3rds off the normal price.
And if you have some of them already, the price is lowered!
So if you've been wanting the mounts/pets/hats in question, now's
your chance. Otherwise.. eh, best not to encourage Blizzard to use
such practices.
ArienVYesterday at 5:23 PM
i ve got most of the pets i think of that bundle
if not all
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:23 PM
https://shop.battle.net/en-us/product/world-of-warcraft-igi-see-you-later
for a link
See You Later Bundle
Go big. Save bigger. This limited-time bundle
includes all pets, mounts, and helms that are about to enter
hibernation in the Blizzard Archive on January 6, 2019. Get them all
now, in one fell swoop, before its too late!*
I've just got a mount, which got given to me a while ago, as well as
one pet that looks identical to one of those in the bundle.
I did calculate that if I add up all the items I'm missing
separately, pets and mounts... I'd be paying 70 cent for the 3 hats
which don't interest me much
ArienVYesterday at 5:25 PM
can you tick off what you have on that list?
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:26 PM
Not manually as far as I know, but it looks at your account and
reduces the price.
So you can't opt out of anything, exactly, but it still saves money.
ArienVYesterday at 5:26 PM
ah cool
didnt know that
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:27 PM
I'm not quite sure if I'll go for it yet, but those moonkin
hatchlings and one of those mounts do look interesting.
And it would help with pet and mount achievements
ArienVYesterday at 5:28 PM
i ve got the hatchling

Tolkien:
anyhow Tolkien topic . as it is Vardas and
Fangorns marriage anniversary what do we know , from LotR and The
Hobbit about marriage amongs middlearth's people?
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:31 PM
Ehrrr... they had them?
I don't recall any ceremonial details, though they might be in some
of the later books.
ArienVYesterday at 5:33 PM
anything really
what age did people marry?
did rthey marry at all?
stuff like that
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:33 PM
Hmm, there was some marriage stuff on elven customs in
Valinor.
I know you weren't supposed to get a divorce, and Finwe was kind of
an exception when it came to remarriage because his first wife
didn't want to come back to life.
ArienVYesterday at 5:37 PM
we know about one group a bit more
Hobbits
Hobbits usually got married and even though not specified it is
suggested that it usually happens around the coming of age
that is 33
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:38 PM
Yes, Frodo and Bilbo were considered odd for bachelors.
And the other 3 did get married eventually, I believe.
ArienVYesterday at 5:39 PM
yes sam married about a year after they returned to Hobbiton didnt
he?
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:39 PM
Yep, and had a big family.
ArienVYesterday at 5:39 PM
and Frodo married them in his role as Major of Hobbiton (Mayor)
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:39 PM
I bet he wished he was still away on adventure sometimes
ArienVYesterday at 5:39 PM
oh I bet
i also bet he loved telling the story of his advenure to children
and grandchildren
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:40 PM
And Pippin caught the bouquet.. or was that just the movie?
ArienVYesterday at 5:40 PM
details . but i think that was movie
i think a daughter of sam married a son of Pippin or other way
around
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:41 PM
Oh yes, lots of intermarriage among those noble hobbit families.
I know there was a bit of trouble with marriage back in Numenor.
One of the kings married a woman of a less long-lived life, and then
spent much of his marriage sailing around.
That did not go well for their relationship, and thereafter it was
made a tradition that they were only allowed to marry other
descendants of Elros.
Of course, that can be taken a bit too far, when one guy married his
cousin.
And I know several cases where a man married an elf.
Strangely, none where a human woman married an elf.
Even stranger, no cases where an ent married an elf...
ArienVYesterday at 5:49 PM
but well the Elves did teach the trees to talk right?
interesting that wasnt the Ents who did that
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:50 PM
Well, Ent language is a bit long
ArienVYesterday at 5:50 PM
but the Ents taught them caring for trees
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:50 PM
They might figure it's easier to have them taught Elvish instead.
ArienVYesterday at 5:50 PM
and they learned their songs
indeed
oh yeah Prince Faramir did marry Eowyn of Rohan - a blessed marriage
between tholse people
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:51 PM
Very true!
I imagine it wasn't the first, in 500 years of alliance.
ArienVYesterday at 5:52 PM
whereas centuries before a marriage between the house of kings and a
princes off Rohan was not well received, especially not for their
off spring and that sparked the kinstrive and the beginning of
the end for Gondor
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:52 PM
Among nobility, perhaps, but even then...
Ah, right, that happened as well
ArienVYesterday at 5:53 PM
so that rift was mended
in the fourth age
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:53 PM
or renewed...?
ArienVYesterday at 5:54 PM
and through the marriage between King Elessar and Arwen Even
star the houses of Isildur and Anarion was restored as well
and united as one Kingdom
which brings a nice end point to this meeting ..
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 5:55 PM
"Hey, the king's back!"
speaking of kings, just wait until you see my first flashgame for

Personal gaming report!
3 flashgames for you this week:
https://www.kongregate.com/games/graebor/sort-the-court
is the first! As hinted, a kingly game  You're the king of a
small city, and through a series of yes/no questions every day when
people come to ask for requests you get to grow your city and become
rich and popular.
Kongregate
Sort the Court!
Grow your kingdom by giving your decree in the
form of simple yes/no answers.
Originally released in December 2015, Sort the
Court started as a game jam proje...
Simple game, but the storylines really unfold nicely as you go
through the days, depending on your choices. It's usually worth it
to use an expensive earlier option to make a profit out of it later
on
Oh, and if you like, you can play as a queen as well!
Ar-Pharazon-VYesterday at 6:19 PM
http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/legacy_quest
is the second game! Platformer, get across the levels, avoid spikes
and enemies, collect smaller gems to destroy the big gems in the
way, and get to the end before the timer runs out.
Legacy Quest - OneMoreLevel.com
Being forced into aswd rather than arrow keys confused me for a bit
but you can change the controls in a menu you open with tab!
Timers are a bit tight, so good luck!
Oh, and walking gets a bit of delay or sliding effect, so be
careful!
http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/detiled
is the third game, a puzzle platformer, when you jump off a tile it
disappears, and the exit only becomes accessible when all are gone.
So plan your path well, make jumps correctly, and puzzle your way
through without sabotaging yourself
De-Tiled - OneMoreLevel.com
Oh, and touching a tile and then losing contact with it also makes
it despawn, so you can touch them from below.

Blizzard gaming!
Hearthstone:
still progressing! Couple of classes over halfway now, all over one
third.
Interesting new brawl: Winter Veil based, build a deck of 20
minions, get 10 random spells, do the opening hand as usual, and
then gift the rest of your deck to your opponent!
Both of you get a gift receipt, which trades the deck back, and
destroys the other receipt, so once someone uses the 5-mana receipt
the two decks return to their original owners.
Now I don't like to build my own decks, so I looked one up, and
found one based on a simple premise indeed... make sure your enemy
can't use the deck until turn 5, and then switch back  So
it's as simple as handing your opponent a bunch of high-mana minions
which you yourself will be able to use as taunts and other walls of
minions once you switch back. And with a bit of luck, you'll get
your win pretty quickly!
And since there are plenty of common-quality high-mana cards
available from many sets, it doesn't even cost much if anything to
make.
That said, I did get a couple of legendary-quality cards from the
packs as well this week!
First up is Bwonsamdi, the priest loa from the new Rumble expansion!
I know he's one of 9 class-loa and depends on synergizing with the
priest loa theme, but I was hoping that such a major character from
the new WoW expansion would be a bit more impressive. Still,
legendary, yay, and maybe I can find use for him in certain
specialized decks
The second legendary comes from one of the 5 Boomsday Project packs
you can get from a new Winter Veil quest, and it's the rogue spell
Myra's Unstable Element! A really unique spell which draws the rest
of your deck in one go. I'm not sure if there are cards that force
spells from your deck to be cast, but still, be careful when you use
this
Heroes of the Storm:
Still working on the event, now halfway around the board, and
working on one of the special quests with set rewards. They take
quite a while to complete, and you can't get any of the normal event
quests if you still have a special quest going, because you can't
roll the die.
Still good fun, and I get to try to combine the non-event quests
with all the other things going on  Goes quite well when the
quests are just about damage.
2 levels got this week, to 324. At least one of them was from the
brawl, a random-hero single-lane fight. In my first one I got no
heroes I was really familiar with, so went with the Butcher for the
first time. Interesting hero to throw into a tough single-lane
fight, especially since my team was mostly melee while the enemy was
mostly ranged. Got killed a few more times than I should, but once
the levels and the talents got rolling and I finally completed
Butcher's trait-quest, he got quite a bit more powerful.
Fun hero, and got to level 2 just from that really long match, which
we managed to turn around at the last moment for a very surprising
victory!
Interesting thing about single-lane match-ups is that one team can
push slowly for most of the match, then get destroyed at the enemy
core, at which point the way is clear for the opposing team to
really strike back.
It can cause a bit of an up-and-down situation where both teams get
constantly massacred at each other's base until one finally goes
down, especially if both teams are above level 20 at that point with
all their talents gained, and no more significant gameplay
advantages except a few stats.
Starcraft II: The new war chest has started, first for 2019! I
bought the whole thing for about 25 euros, getting all 3 races, as I
usually do. This time it's even more interesting as for the first
time, the skins you unlock are for your buildings, and match a
single unit-skin-set (for each race) from previous war chests, as
well as console skins for the same set to really complete the theme.
The Terran set doesn't look too special, but for Zerg and Protoss
it's about the mechanical Simulant theme and the Tal'darim theme, so
in my opinion definitely worth it
I've only gotten one match done so far to start to unlock them, but
there's plenty of time to complete each unlock-phase, and even more
time after that in the last two phases for those who find themselves
with a bit less time to play. In fact, the last phase doubles your
progress speed.
You can also get xp this time around by watching certain
Twitch-streams, but I'd rather just play my games
And fun thing about unlocking new building skins is that if you use
them as soon as you get them, you can watch your bases slowly adapt
to the new theme alongside the units.
WoW:
Still on raidbreak for us, so free time for extra stuff and ongoing
projects.
Haven't gotten to continue my Zuldazar questlines yet, but I did
start working towards the secret mount!
I said last week that I was hoping players would still be up for
them when I got around to it, but I figured I might as well shuffle
up the schedule a bit while I had extra time. So I asked around if
there would be people interested in the group activity after we got
the solo parts done, and sure enough, at least 2 people, so I got
started on the solo parts myself.
So over the past week, I went after the 4 colored monocles you have
to collect all over Azeroth. Started with the red one, which was an
interesting sequence of visiting fish vendors in Vashj'ir,
exchanging currencies from one fish to another, each with a limited
duration, so really had to hurry  Luckily as a druid who's
quested in Vashj'ir in the past, swimspeed there was really high.
Then I went for the green one, located in Skyreach. A strange
minigame was there, not exactly a puzzle, since the sequence you had
to use was based on a list of accompanying numbers, which I believe
nobody's exactly figured out, instead stumbling on the answer by
using multiples of the highest number present.
If you use a guide - and good luck figuring out all this stuff if
you don't - that would be the easiest one to get since the sequence
is always the same.
And then the yellow monocle! I had so much fun with that one.
There's a puzzle in the halls of origination with a field of small
constellations of 4 different colors, as well as interactive
crystals randomly placed, which change the colors of constellations
in various directions. The goal is to get all of them changed to the
same color.
Considering how large the field is and how complex the puzzle, many
people have had problems with it, some complaining that it was
harder than the maze for the Lucid Nightmare secret back in Legion.
People even made an addon for those who really can't get a grip on
the puzzle, but to use the addon you have to fill in every single
constellation and crystal color, type and location, and let the
addon figure out what you need to do.
Now me... I love the puzzle. It is a glorious event full of pretty
lights and logical patterns and so much satisfaction in the progress
and solution as I go through it. Not at all like that silly maze
back in Legion with its random teleport chamber and overlapping
hallways, which took me a lot longer to complete. I didn't even use
the addon for this puzzle, since I figure that making a mistake in
filling it in can really make it hard to figure out where you went
wrong, and I like doing it logically.
So I had a lot of fun getting that yellow monocle... so much fun,
indeed, that I went back the next day to complete the puzzle again
It reminds me of that logic-based mini-game toy you could get in
Legion, the Blingtron Circuit Tutorial, which I also loved, but
larger and shinier.
Anyway, a few days later I went for the blue monocle to finish the
collection and prepare for the group-part of the mount hunt. Blue
monocle can be found through a series of letters with capitalized
words, which form anagrams that give clues to the next letter.
One of the letters need you to go through nearly all of the old
Karazhan-raid, where I even picked up a few new appearances I was
still lacking
But now I have all 4 monocles, and it's just waiting for some other
people to get theirs and be interested in the 5-man part of the
secret.
I also did more expeditions this week, and got pretty lucky with
rewards! A new transmog piece from the new Duskhaven cloth set, and
a monk-hat in the typical Asian conical hat style.
Also 2 new pets, the sunscale hatchling (a flying serpent) and Inky,
the eyepatch-wearing octopus! Very cute.
Speaking of pets, I've continued to work on the family-based
pet-battle achievements, and have completed the Aquatic one already.
Beast only needs a few more, as well, and as pet battle WQs were
randomly available I even made a start on the Critter, Dragon and
Elemental achievements.
For one of the tactics I found out I was missing a pet-drop from a
rare in Legion. Turns out there was one from Helheim, a sub-zone
accessed through Stormheim. I'd gone through the main zones with the
search filter, but the idea of checking Helheim hadn't even crossed
my mind. So I went there and got the Bleakwater Jelly pet!
And I got 2 more pets this week as well: One of them was a pet I had
been hunting for a long time, since I started doing the Wailing
Caverns weekly pet dungeon halfway during the last expansion. The
common and uncommon pet I'd gotten pretty quickly back then, but the
rare pet, the Everliving Spore, just wouldn't drop for me, until
tonight
It's pretty rare indeed, and supposedly quite valuable on the
auction house... but I'm keeping this one for myself, and now
consider myself done with the Wailing Caverns pet dungeon.
The new pet dungeon, Gnomeregan, has the same system as Deadmines,
with a fixed weekly currency required to buy the new pets, instead
of agonizing droprates. If they keep up that system, I never have to
go through what I had to with the Wailing Caverns pet dungeon
again... which is good, because the less randomness, the better
In any case, should save me at least half an hour each week.
And the final pet I haven't mentioned yet was one I did indeed buy
from the shop for the winter sale. Its Lil' Ragnaros, the pet I
wanted to get for when I create my Dark Iron elemental shaman, and I
figured this sale was the best time to get it.
And then there's more world quests done! Got a couple of new ones I
hadn't done yet in Kul Tiras, including one where you transform into
a shark and have to hunt murlocs in the water. Quite funny!
I also did more Arathi world quests for service medals. I figured
I'd be done with that when the horde took it over, but then it
turned out that the Darkshore world quests had become available,
even if I hadn't done the Tyrande questline yet or unlocked the new
warfront. So that was an unexpected new source of medals, of which
I've now gotten over 60, so about a third of the way towards the
krolusk mount I want.
Speaking of krolusks, I've been looking into tameable white ones,
and have plans on getting one on my beast master huntress if I ever
level her; combined with a white outfit and the new Night Warrior
eye customization she should make quite a haunting image.
Oh, and then there's the new pvp brawl this week! Usually skips a
week between them, but this one was a new one, so an exception was
made. A chili-making contest between horde and alliance, hosted by
infamous panda chef Nomi, where you have to rush to get 20
ingredients delivered before the enemy does, and you can attempt to
sabotage them along the way, slow them down, kill them, and steal
their ingredients
And finally the weekly for this week is completing 4 mythic
dungeons. I always do 2 on monday anyway, so just had to do 2 more
first earlier in the week. Got to try out the changes in Tol Dagor,
as well as revisit the Siege of Boralus, complete with that Jaina
cinematic at the end which I can't see myself ever get tired of.
And that's my report for the week!

People were clapping at the end. : )
Don't see that happen very often!
