Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:31 PM
Nah, I'm fine. I've got a lot to catch up on, so I'll just participate in yours
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:33 PM
Right it is rken from the Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship , chapter " A journey in the dark " fairly at the beginning
after the group stands at the doors and tries to find a way in and Gandalf tries various lerned passwords  and nothing works ..
" At that moment from far off the wind bore to their lstening ears the howling of wolves.  Bill the pony started in fear, and  Sam sprang up to his side and whispered softly to him.
"Do not let him run away'!" said   Boromir, "It seems that we shall need him still, if the wolves do not find us. How i hate this foul pool!" He stooped and picking  up a large stone he cast it far into the dark water.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:39 PM
Ominous.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:40 PM
The stone vanished with a soft slap but at the same  instant  there was a  swish and a bubble.  Great rippling rings formed on the surface  out beyond where the stone had fallen, and they moved slowly towards the foot of the cliff.
"Why did you do that, Boromir?" asked Frodo. "I hate this place, too , and I am afraid. i don't know of what, not of wolves , or the dark behind these doors, but of something else. I am afraid of the pool, don't disturb it1"
"i wish we could get away!" said Merry.
"Why doesnt  do Gandalf something quick?" said Merry.
correction .. said Pippin
Merry said *I wish we could get away!"
Gandalf took no notice of them. he sat with his head bowed, either in dispair or in anxious thought. The mournful howling of the wolves was heard again. The ripples on the water grew and came closer, some were already lapping on the shore.
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:48 PM
Time is running out...
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:49 PM
With a suddenness that started them all the wizard sprang to his feet . he was laughing! "i have it!" he cried. "of course of course. Absurdly simple, like most riddles when you see the answer!"
Picking up his staff , he stood before the rock, and said in a clear voice: "Mellon!"
quote end
sorry for the length
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:50 PM
I like how he's a bit cleverer than hobbits in the book, finding out the answer by himself
No, that's fine
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:51 PM
masterful  telling i think  masterful writing of Papa Tokien you just can picture the scene .. the emotions, the tension and the despair and creepyness
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:52 PM
Yep.
A bit of a subversion, tensing up the situation but getting a happy twist out of it before it really gets dangerous. I forgot, are they still too late to avoid the monster entirely in the book?
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:54 PM
not entirely ..  the watcher does  reach out for Frodo in the book as well
It is Sam actually who manages to get the tentacle off Frodos ankle , just with a knife
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:55 PM
Clever sam.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:56 PM
Cleverer than people thought
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 4:56 PM
I remember in the Fellowship game I once played, you play Aragorn at that stage and have to fire shots with a bow and arrow at the monster's tentacles to win that scene.
ArienV - Last Sunday at 4:57 PM
a bit silly really
and it is just one tentacle  that gets hold of Frodos foot
right any other comments to this passage or completions?
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 5:00 PM
Give me a moment, maybe I can find the scene on youtube
ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:00 PM

ArienV - Last Sunday at 5:04 PM
thank you P:hari
wel then just one thing to do
*picks up branchy looking gavel  .. but what is that .. it turns into a snake .. flashes a sunray onto it and the snake turns through the power of the light into a wooden gavel and bangs  it .. once it bangs it turns back into a snake and sneaks back to Aules collection of gavels where it jumps up and shifts back to an innocent looking branch

Personal gaming report!

Right, slow week for flashgaming... got 1 new game, 1 game I may have mentioned more recently but which I completed for one of the week's badges, and an oldy that sparked one of my favorite flashgame series.
http://www.freewebarcade.com/game/8-legs-to-love/ is the first one! Move around the screen, spin a web, catch flies for points!

https://www.kongregate.com/games/taccommandeur/hat-wizard is the second, possibly recent one: Platformer, short levels, throw your hat at enemies or statues to switch places with them. Take as many tries as you want per level
Kongregate
Hat Wizard
Use your hat to outsmart foes in this short 2D platform adventure. You can throw it onto their heads and switch places.

Challenge level is tricky though!
https://www.kongregate.com/games/FliplineStudios/papa-louie-when-pizzas-attack-kongregate-version is the third! First game in the Papa Louie series, which is mostly time management games in various special restaurants, but this one is a fun platformer where you have to free your customers and fight pizzas and other food items

Blizzard gaming:
Hearthstone: All classes over halfway to next level now. Shorter quests make it a bit slower indeed, but I like how less matches are needed for a quest now
Working on getting the Lunara hero by winning 10 standard matches. My actual decks for winning are all Wild, though, not Standard, so I have to improvise; as such, I've only gotten 5 so far. Luckily, I've got like a year for it  I should get it next week though.
This week's brawl is an old one, with 30 raven idols, allowing you to discover a minion or a spell as needed. But these days there are some interesting cards that allow for some odd play with those 1-mana idols; I won my match by getting a minion with a battlecry to destroy all 1-cost spells in both decks. In this particular brawl that immediately drains both players' decks from all the idols, leaving them empty; I won by having a hand advantage at the time. And there are other fun combinations possible as well!
Heroes of the Storm: This week, the brawl was another single lane brawl on the Braxis fight. Unfortunately I ended up with a hero I wasn't very familiar with for each of the 3 matches.
One of those got Malthael to level 2; I ended up at level 270 total this week. Another rare chest for me for getting to a total level ending in 0
WoW:
Ar-Pharazon-V - Last Sunday at 8:20 PM
Let's see now... raiding still going on, had our first tries at mythic difficulty Antorus, got first boss to about 20-30% health. Decent start.
Did not get my last restoration legendary before the mage tower was up, but I will get it before the next one, because I'm almost at 1000 essences.
Weekly this week is dungeons; we did a couple of high keystone mythic runs for fun and loot, and I got a new ring which is what I needed for the restoration challenge, so that'll be useful.
Depending on when the tower goes up, I really hope to put some practice time into it this week, if not completing it.
We got our last few 5-man achievements for the big Legion meta, which unlocked a new purple hippogryph mount, as well as some new appearances, including a red firey bear form which I rather like
Which also means that when I finish the tower challenge, I'll have every druid appearance in the game except for the last 2 Prestige milestones.
Tried out the Suramar fisherfriend who was up last tuesday as a method for getting more fishing pole artifact power. It's quite effective: when the raid was nearly full I was getting fish to buy the sleeping murlocs to get the rare fish I need for AP almost faster than I could use them. After about 2 hours of that, I got a quarter of the AP I still need to max out of the fishing pole, including the completion of another fishing trait. Almost there!
And I had more success with the First Aid queststarters, completing Stormheim and getting one more for Highmountain, putting my total at 10 out of 16, which got me the first achievement of the 2. The last one, with the Field Medic title, requires all 16. But that's the next goal!
And tonight I got yet another achievement for killing 2000 demons on Argus, getting me another new mount as well! Turns out there's a 5000 demon achievement as well, which gives a title. I will need to do some grinding for that if I want to get it done before the next expansion.
But apparently the rare mob Puscilla summons a lot of imps during the fight, all of which count for the achievement, so that might be one way to get it done.
And finally I'll mention that another WoW book arrived, the fifth Warcraft Legends manga. It was another one of the supposedly postponed/unavailable ones, so I'm happy it's here  Out of those, that just leaves the first book of the Sunwell trilogy. So I have good hopes for that too in the near future!
And that's my report for the week!

Oh! One more thing. Another major update for Cookie Clicker, with a minigame about a garden, where you can grow plants to give yourself buffs, and unlock other plants through mutation and crossbreeding in strategic patterns. Some new upgrades and achievements tied to it as well. It's a fun feature, and I like systematically unlocking all 34 different ones
And I think that's it from me!
