Before-meeting
perseid28 has entered the room.
Ar-Pharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya
perseid28: Aiya!
perseid28: I've kept the room open since Monday...not too much traffic this week though :)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Still impressive!
Eonwe Valar (Eonwe Valar) has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya!
Eonwe Valar: I assume everyone got the AOL System message when they logged in?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Got it somewhere during the week, but only when I open it manually. I usually have it on automatic, so...
Eonwe Valar: OK.
perseid28: Aiya!
Eonwe Valar: Just checking if everyone got the same "This AIM version will be useless in 3 weeks" message I did.
perseid28: Yeah, I got it earlier in the week
perseid28: seems that 3rd party clients won't be supported any more
Eonwe Valar: We have the Shoutbox on the Forum if it comes to it. Hopefully it won't.
Brendan Gowland (eru68) has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: We'll begin the meeting shortly.
Brendan Gowland (eru68) has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Ok, let's begin.

Eonwe Valar: Elen Sila Lumenn Omentielvo!
Eonwe Valar: Membership:
Eonwe Valar: Eonwe, Phar, and Lenwe are here :}
Eonwe Valar: Eru was here for a brief moment, but seems to not be now.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Gods, amiright?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Can't trust em.
Ar-Pharazon-V: They never stay in one place.
Eonwe Valar: THe Sauron school of thought? Isn't that how you ended up in the Forgotten Caves? :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hey, I'm sure bad gods do it too!
Eonwe Valar: Something must've come up for Varda, since she's not here.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Email from Varda: "I will try to make it to the meeting Sunday March 5, but it will take a good luck check due to house repairs."
Ar-Pharazon-V: And some more details.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks. Thought Varda sent one but couldn't see it.
Ar-Pharazon-V: It says she sent it to you as well.
Ar-Pharazon-V: 4 days ago.
Eonwe Valar: Aye, I read it earlier in the week, just didn't see it in my list of e-mails when I was looking for it today.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Ah.
Eonwe Valar: Forgot the details.
Eonwe Valar: But there we go, something did come up for her :}
Eonwe Valar: House repairs :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: yep
Eonwe Valar: Any other member news?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Oh, I see Arien in WoW, I'll poke her.
Eonwe Valar: I'll officially put this in here at this point:

Eonwe Valar: An AOL System Message went out this week to those of us using the old version of AIM saying our version will be unavailable starting March 28th.
Eonwe Valar: So, we'll need to upgrade. I'll be installing the newest version tonight or tomorrow and testing it out, figuring out if we can get working what we were having trouble with last time some members tried to deal with it. Of course I will be installing it separately from the AIM version we use so I can keep both for now.
Eonwe Valar: I'm going to recommend the Forum Shoutbox as a backup, so make sure you've registered on the Forum using your Guild Name.
perseid28: Have we tried meeting in-game somewhere? LotRO has various chat channels; I assume WoW has the same
Eonwe Valar: We used to meet in Battle.net when most of us were on Blizzard games.
Ar-Pharazon-V: WoW (and bnet) are regionally separated, so Europe wouldn't be able to talk to the US, and I don't want to have several games up at once to be able to be in different regions.
Eonwe Valar: And aye to Phar.
Eonwe Valar: LotRO is not separated by region, and is Free-to-Play.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Can anyone invite Arien into the room?
perseid28: I know some kins and kin groups have "in-person" meetings in LotRO, which is fun in its own way. But I know many guild members aren't on LotRO
Ar-Pharazon-V: It doesn't give me the option.
perseid28: Invite sent
perseid28: And:
perseid28: Unable to send message to ariehnv: Not supported by client
Not supported by client
Ar-Pharazon-V: Yeah, had something similar.
perseid28: I'm on Pidgin
Eonwe Valar: It would require people to have LotRO, and then to be running it. The Forum requires less processing power, so my general preference for the short term.
perseid28: Forum sounds good
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, when I tried to send her an invite it says she doesn't support that feature.
perseid28: If Phar is on something other than Pidgin we might already be seeing reduced functionality here?
Eonwe Valar: Did she already upgrade?
Eonwe Valar: I am using AIM, so it's not you two.
perseid28: hmm
Eonwe Valar: Well, not just you two.
perseid28: :D
Ar-Pharazon-V: I'm using AIM too.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Can't exactly hold a forum meeting though.
Eonwe Valar: The Shoutbox can, though the transcript may be a pain.
perseid28: If the shoutbox is automatically refreshed it could work, but if we need to refresh browsers to see new messages that would be annoying
Eonwe Valar: No, shoutbox updates itself.
Eonwe Valar: You can log in right now and try if you want.
perseid28: I'm going AFK for a couple hours. Later :)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie!
Eonwe Valar: Take care Lenwe :}
Eonwe Valar: I'm going to try out the new version tonight or tomorrow to get a feel for it.
Ar-Pharazon-V: We'll find out if they're compatible next week then.
Eonwe Valar: I'll post to the Forum about this too, so keep an eye there if you want to comment.

Eonwe Valar: Gaming:
Eonwe Valar: World of Warcraft:
Eonwe Valar: See what's going on this month in WoW.
Eonwe Valar: Check out the latest hotfixes.

Eonwe Valar: Diablo 3:
Eonwe Valar: Season 9 is ending March 17th, so if you haven't got everything you wanted yet from the season, now is the time.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hmm, just finished chapter 2 last night, gonna need to hurry for the next 2 again.
Eonwe Valar: Yeah, same.

Eonwe Valar: Starcraft 2:
Eonwe Valar: A new Co-Op mission based on the arcade game Left2Die is coming in the next patch. See information about it in the blog Patch 3.11 Preview: Dead of Night.

Eonwe Valar: Heroes of the Storm:
Eonwe Valar: Check out this week's balance update.
Eonwe Valar: Some new things coming in the next patch are talked about in the blog: Patch Preview: Party Frames, Portrait Flames, and Killstreak Fame.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Sometimes I wonder if Blizzard put in the arcade for the sole purpose of not having to come up with this stuff themselves.
Eonwe Valar: hehe
Ar-Pharazon-V: Your text is in bold still.
Eonwe Valar: I noticed :}
Eonwe Valar: The player base is larger than the developer base, so of course there'll be more creativity in the larger pool of people :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: Indeed :-)
Eonwe Valar: Was happening in SC and WC3 too :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: It was the WC3 fanbase who came up with the DotA thing, right?
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
Ar-Pharazon-V: And possibly the tower defense.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hmm, that game made a lot of impact.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Still waiting for an official release of Kodo Tag or Run Kitty Run...

Eonwe Valar: Hearthstone:
Eonwe Valar: TThe next expansion has been announced: Journey to Un'Goro.

Eonwe Valar: Overwatch:
Eonwe Valar: The PTR is up.
Eonwe Valar: A new hero is coming. See more info in the New Hero First Look: Orisa.

Eonwe Valar: Oh, forgot to mention for Heroes of the Storm that a new hero is coming there too: Probius.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Which is still not on the European Heroes of the Storm blog.
Eonwe Valar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPxjfQaxZhI
Eonwe Valar: Not up for the us either, but it was on the launcher news cycle.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Weird.
Eonwe Valar: Any other gaming news before we move on?

Ar-Pharazon-V: I'll add to Hearthstone
Eonwe Valar: Update on Arien btw: She did upgrade to the new version, and wasn't able to get the old version. She had some stuff come up that she needs to take care of, so she's focusing there right now.
Ar-Pharazon-V: when the Journey comes, the new year will officially start, and some of the older expansions and adventures will be taken out of the shop and standard gear.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hmhm.
Eonwe Valar: Older expansions are being taken out? So are they putting all that into the standard game?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Bit of advice to you, if you're going to update this week, make sure to keep an older version file available, and also make sure to test you can get into the chatroom :-)
Eonwe Valar: Aye, I've got a copy of the version we use, and I'll install the new one in a different folder.
Ar-Pharazon-V: for Hearthstone? It means you can no longer buy league of explorers or... the grand tournament, I think, and those are all going to be restricted to wild.
Eonwe Valar: Not sure what "restricted to wild" means :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: Oh. There are 2 modes now in Hearthstone, standard and wild, with different pools of opponents, different rankings, etc. I think arena will be just standard too.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Standard is only the more recent expansions and adventures' worth of cards, while all the other cards can still be played in Wild.
Ar-Pharazon-V: But since you can no longer buy them, you'll need to craft them instead if you don't have them already.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks for explaining. I tried Hearthstone, and it failed to entertain me. I didn't even play enough for the Hearthsteed, which based on the games I played would've taken forever to win those 3 games, heh.
Ar-Pharazon-V: You might be able to do those while playing against the innkeeper, which is usually rather easier :-)
Eonwe Valar: Unless they changed it, no. Had to win against a person.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hmm, too bad.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Still, lose enough in Casual...
Ar-Pharazon-V: but it's your call :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}

Eonwe Valar: Tolkien:
Eonwe Valar: SInce it's just you and me, Phar, how about we ask eachother a trivia question, as easy or hard as you want to make it, and call it there. Sound good to you?
Eonwe Valar: Unless you had a topic to discuss :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: Ahh, now I've gotta think of a question :-D
Ar-Pharazon-V: But, sure.
Eonwe Valar: You want to keep it to Sil, LotR, Hobbit or open it up to UT and HOME as well?
Ar-Pharazon-V: All of em is fine, though I may need to grab a few books to answer ;-)
Eonwe Valar: hehe
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, now I'm thinking about the oral exam portion of the movie "Back to School" starring Rodney Dangerfield. One of the professors says "I only have one question... *insert sigh of relief and a pause* in 27 parts." :}
Eonwe Valar: My question is simple but not necessarily easy:
Eonwe Valar: In HoME we're given the names of the 7 Dwarf houses. Can you name them, and which ones did we get to see in the Silmarillion?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hmmm. Were they named for their locations, or leaders?
Eonwe Valar: They were descriptive names, not by leader or location, but it tells where the Dwarf Halls for each group was.
Ar-Pharazon-V: That's what I meant by location.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Moria, Nogrod, Belegost...
Eonwe Valar: Aye, but the named I'm talking about are descriptive of the Dwarves themselves, not their location, which is the distinction i'm making.
Eonwe Valar: *names
Ar-Pharazon-V: Ah.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Well, then I have no idea :-D I'll go search the books?
Eonwe Valar: Well, you answered the first half of the question, lol.
Eonwe Valar: "Can you name them? No." :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hah, true.
Ar-Pharazon-V: And I did give you some cities for the second half!
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, and I suppose that works too. We see Nogord and Belegost in the First Age stories, and Moria when we get to the Second and Third Ages.
Eonwe Valar: SO, question answered :}
Eonwe Valar: *Nogrod
Ar-Pharazon-V: I could look them up, I suppose. They're probably in part 12.
Eonwe Valar: My article on Dwarves for the VG Tolkien Encyclopedia has the info *cough* :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: That works!
Eonwe Valar: And the citation. I wouldn't leave out the citation :}
Eonwe Valar: OK, ready for your question :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: No, first the answer...
Ar-Pharazon-V: Longbeards, firebeards and broadbeams for the second half...
Ar-Pharazon-V: ironfists, stiffbears (who comes up with this?), blacklocks and stonefoots!
Ar-Pharazon-V: ...beards
Ar-Pharazon-V: Alright, then, let me think. Usually I let myself get inspired by the other person's question...
Eonwe Valar: Afk for a moment. That'll give you time :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: Well, why not... another question with seven answers!
Eonwe Valar: Oh, ready already, ok :}

Ar-Pharazon-V: What were the names of the seven gates of Gondolin, found in Unfinished Tales? :-)
Eonwe Valar: Oh wow. I can safely say I don't remember this.
Eonwe Valar: From "Of Tuor and His Coming to Gondolin" in UT:
Ar-Pharazon-V: was looking it up again, and indeed they are all 7 named, as he passes from the tunnels into a ravine towards the city :-)
Eonwe Valar: Gate of Wood, Gate of Stone, Gate of Bronze, Gate of Writhen Iron,Garte of Marble?, Gate of Silver, Gate of Gold/Golden Gate
Eonwe Valar: I didn't see the name of the fifth, but it says the wall was made of Marble.
Ar-Pharazon-V: That *was* the gate of silver
Ar-Pharazon-V: marble, silver and pearl
Ar-Pharazon-V: the Golden Gate was the sixth.
Eonwe Valar: Don't see the name of the Sixth Gate.
Eonwe Valar: hmm...
Eonwe Valar: , OK Gate of Steel was the Seventh.
Eonwe Valar: Was skimming a little too fast I guess.
Ar-Pharazon-V: There you go!
Eonwe Valar: I have to call it here, unfortunately.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aw.
Ar-Pharazon-V: I'll throw my gaming report into an empty room then; well, Lenwe's here in some form.
Eonwe Valar: So I'm going to declare Aftermeeting, but I can leave the window up for a few more minutes, I just have to go about my business while I do.
Eonwe Valar: *bangs gavel*
top

Eonwe Valar: Aftermeeting:
Eonwe Valar: All yours Phar :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: Right, had to close off some stuff to focus on this...

Ar-Pharazon-V: personal gaming!

Ar-Pharazon-V: For flashgaming, let's start with a warning... apparently some browsers are at the point of phasing out java and unity, making a lot of games unplayable. So the repertoire is about to go down a bit. The cost of new technology advances, I suppose.
Ar-Pharazon-V: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/any_crate is the first game for this week, a small platformy game where you can jump and shoot, and either take down enemy AI, or work together with 2 characters, or play against another player.. who also need to be at the same keyboard. Still, can be fun with multiple people!
Ar-Pharazon-V: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/valhalla_bound for the second game, a retro classic where you shoot fire arrows at passing burial ships to send viking ghosts to Valhalla. Comes with bonuses and combos!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Also some cherubs and angels that really should be valkyries...
Ar-Pharazon-V: And for the last one I'll give an oldy that came up this week, but still very enjoyable.
Ar-Pharazon-V: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Xdragonx10/penguin-overlords penguins vs turtles! Upgrade your penguins, place them in the field, and hope they can defeat all the incoming turtles before they fall.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Few grindy walls, though. But good music!
Eonwe Valar: Ok, gotta log out now. Take care, good night, sleep well and have fun :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie :-)
Eonwe Valar (Eonwe Valar) has left the room.

Ar-Pharazon-V: Blizzard gaming!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Diablo 3: Got back into that one, for the end of the season. Like I said earlier, chapter 2 finished. Next part is getting bounty rewards for all 5 acts, of which I've now got 2. With those, I can also extract some old low-level legendaries, the effects of which are actually pretty good for the Crusader set you get this season as chapter rewards, which should help get chapter 4 finished.
Ar-Pharazon-V: And 3, of course.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hearthstone: All of them are the next level now, 47. Yay for more golden cards!
Ar-Pharazon-V: This week's brawl put the 3 leaders of the Gadgetzan crime families against each other, with appropriate cards for each. I managed to win as Aya Blackpaw of the Jade Lotus, by piling up stronger and stronger jade golems. When it works, it's really good :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: And, of course, gotta love Aya Blackpaw herself. One of my favorite Hearthstone characters.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Heroes of the Storm: Got a level on Li Li, I recall. New mount skin for her.
Ar-Pharazon-V: The brawl was an oldy, mage wars, with a bunch of mage-like heroes on a specific map. They'd changed it to only require 2 matches this week rather than 3, making for easy gold, but I already had the portrait and have not yet made the time to play those 2 matches. We'll see.
Ar-Pharazon-V: WoW:
Ar-Pharazon-V: The rare archeology quest rotation just went into its second cycle since Legion release, and since I was still missing the first 3, of course I gotta do more of that!
Ar-Pharazon-V: I completed the first rare artifact yesterday, giving a new toy, and also getting the last (for me) Titan disc piece for Brann, so that's another achievement done, yay.
Ar-Pharazon-V: This week's weekly quest is world quests, which come naturally for me anyway, so no extra effort there. In fact, just on wednesday alone I ended up doing 12 world quests, and ultimately got the whole thing done in 3 days.
Ar-Pharazon-V: What else... some new fishing world quests for that achievement, a number of pet master fights for Family Familiar. Need to level less than 10 pets now for that, so the end is in sight.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Raiding's going well, we brought down heroic Botanist and heroic Krosus, the latter of which today. Really fun, even though I had to change a few talents for it. Those bridge pieces come down really fast, and talenting Stampeding Roar was necessary, but made it really smooth :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Been doing a bit more withered training, the last time with only 400 mana's worth of Withered. Still, that was plenty to pick up some more reinforcements and make my way to the end with more than 400 points. Should be a reliable way to get there.
Ar-Pharazon-V: 2 more toys needed from the reward chest, so I hope it doesn't take too long!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Oh, and I did the questline for the Obliterum forge in Dalaran. Not sure how much I'll make use of it, but I know that the questline's removed (to be replaced by a much cheaper version) in 7.2, so I wanted to get it done before then. And now, it is.
Ar-Pharazon-V: And finally, for old appearances... done with Blackwing Lair at last! So many months spent on it...
Ar-Pharazon-V: Last item I needed was the cloak from Chromaggus.
Ar-Pharazon-V: I also finished heroic Underbog, and normal Mana Tombs as well, though that only required 2 items, which I got in 2 days. Now working on heroic Mana Tombs, still with the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj raid on the side.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Progress, wooh!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Oh, and I also got the 35th traits on both my feral and guardian artifacts, respectively increasing dps by 5% and armor by 10%. The following traits are only tiny increases, so the pressure's off there. Though putting 20 points in either of them will still be quite an advantage, it'd take ages, so I'm happy for now.
Ar-Pharazon-V: It's all changing in 7.2 anyway.
Ar-Pharazon-V: And that's the end of my report for the week!
perseid28: Back ;)
perseid28: No more Java in browsers?!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiyata1
perseid28: Funny how things change
Ar-Pharazon-V: yep, well, Firefox at least
perseid28: Must be security issues or something
Ar-Pharazon-V: Just outdated and no longer needed to update, I guess?
Ar-Pharazon-V: It's a lot of WebGL now or something.
perseid28: Ah
perseid28: I'm glad I missed the Tolkein part--those must be Valar-level questions :D
Ar-Pharazon-V: haha
Ar-Pharazon-V: saving and sending transcript
