Before-meeting
Varda Valar (3:41:30 PM):    Aiya Phar. :-)  Still 20 minutes, no rush.
ArPharazon-V (3:41:35 PM):    Aiya!
ArPharazon-V (3:41:55 PM):    Rush? I've still got so much to do, I don't think meeting can slow me down much ;-)
Varda Valar (3:42:08 PM):    Cool :-)
EonweValar (3:51:06 PM):    Heya.
Varda Valar (3:51:12 PM):    Aiya Eonwe :-)
EonweValar (3:51:21 PM):    Invitations sent to Elladan, Gilraen, Gwaihir, and Farmer Maggot on my way in.
ArPharazon-V (3:51:30 PM):    Aiya!
Varda Valar (3:51:41 PM):    Thanks. Keeps me from crossing streams. Bit early, no problem though.
EonweValar (3:52:10 PM):    10 minutes early doesn't hurt :}
EonweValar (3:52:41 PM):    Gives them a chance to say "Oh yeah, it is about that time, isn't it..." ;}
Varda Valar (3:52:53 PM):    Agreed!
ArPharazon-V (3:53:44 PM):    On that note, Arien poked.
Varda Valar (3:53:47 PM):    I don't see any others.
Varda Valar (3:53:51 PM):    Thanks
Varda Valar (3:55:26 PM):    Ran into an interesting insight.
Varda Valar (3:55:29 PM):    Aiya Arien :-)
ArPharazon-V (3:55:33 PM):    Aiya!
Varda Valar (3:55:50 PM):    A hobbit can understand a dragon a bit better than some of us might.
Varda Valar (3:56:12 PM):    They both live underground. They both collect treasure that they might not even use.
ArPharazon-V (3:56:38 PM):    I'm not sure whether they are in the habit of sending useless treasure to other dragons on their birthdays though.
Varda Valar (3:56:42 PM):    The dragon hoards it, knows the current market value of every piece. But never uses it except to collect.
Arien V (3:56:44 PM):    Aiya all :-)
Varda Valar (3:56:57 PM):    Welcome :-)
Varda Valar (3:57:33 PM):    The hobbit collects mathoms but wants to de-clutter and passes it to a new hoard or user.
Varda Valar (3:58:22 PM):    So perhaps for the dragon, the market value of his collection is the importance, but for the hobbit, the use is.
Varda Valar (3:58:57 PM):    That one thing makes a giant difference in behavior, changes the entire society.
Varda Valar (3:59:07 PM):    The dragon needs to be solo, the hobbit needs to be social.
Varda Valar (4:00:02 PM):    That's all I was going to remark. :-)
EonweValar (4:00:19 PM):    So how does the dragon get the current market value of each piece in his hoard? Does he have investers visit him every other Tuesday to keep him current?
ArPharazon-V (4:00:43 PM):    I think dragons are more "It's shiny, so it must be valuable."
Varda Valar (4:00:44 PM):    That's a good question. He seems asleep, but is the dragon picking up on the market news? :-)
Varda Valar (4:00:52 PM):    Aiya Eru
Eru-Valar (4:01:01 PM):    Aiya, all.
ArPharazon-V (4:01:11 PM):    They might've been able to placate them with glass and mirrors.
Varda Valar (4:02:09 PM):    So much sleeping. Maybe the dragon is doing something on another level? That are it's just happy to be guarding what it amassed and vegetates. Not even going out to eat much, as it would leave the hoard unguarded.
Varda Valar (4:02:46 PM):    I'm not making up the market value bit. May need to go look it up though.
EonweValar (4:03:05 PM):    Eh, a greedy person every decade or so is enough to keep a dragon fed :}
Varda Valar (4:03:22 PM):    Good point! Room service.
EonweValar (4:03:29 PM):    Heya Eru :}
ArPharazon-V (4:03:43 PM):    Aiya!
Varda Valar (4:04:13 PM):    Time to get this meeting going. :-)

Varda Valar (4:04:21 PM):    Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
Varda Valar (4:04:24 PM):    Membership:
Varda Valar (4:05:00 PM):    Great to have you all here, fellow Tolkien fans and gamers. Thanks for coming and making this a thing, a moot, a...whatever this coolness is.

Varda Valar (4:05:27 PM):    Web report:
Varda Valar (4:06:01 PM):    Story in progress for Little Jewel, next chapter not quite ready to come up yet.
Varda Valar (4:06:31 PM):    (Side note: Eonwe suggested: "The Valar Guild Experience"(TM),... )
Varda Valar (4:06:51 PM):    The Timeline Third Age is in progress, not yet showing online because
Varda Valar (4:07:11 PM):    at the moment it would look too much like a simple grab from the book rather than a proper project.
Varda Valar (4:07:16 PM):    Aiya Gilraen :-)
Iryenth . (4:07:24 PM):    Aiya folks
ArPharazon-V (4:07:35 PM):    Aiya!
ArPharazon-V (4:07:45 PM):    Nothing wrong with grabbing things from the book to start with :-)
Varda Valar (4:07:47 PM):    Additional goodies for the entries are being added, along with links.
Varda Valar (4:08:05 PM):    Agreed. Don't want it to go up as looking like pure plagiarism. It will have much more.
Varda Valar (4:08:49 PM):    We seem to have need for more articles on places, and certain battles. Surprisingly important characters with not so much as a stub.
Varda Valar (4:09:07 PM):    It's a fine tool for showing holes that need filling in the Encyc.
Varda Valar (4:10:19 PM):    I'm doing some article addenda, adding dates for some, and other bits. Feel free to add new articles, even where we have one.
Varda Valar (4:10:35 PM):    Your take on it may make something more clear, or have additional info.
Varda Valar (4:11:10 PM):    I'm also struggling to get the diacriticals put in. Not something my own language uses, so they were neglected. My apologies.

Varda Valar (4:11:26 PM):    Gaming report:
Varda Valar (4:11:31 PM):    Eonwe, go ahead. :-)
EonweValar (4:11:36 PM):    Thanks.
EonweValar (4:11:58 PM):    World of Warcraft:
EonweValar (4:12:07 PM):    The Lunar Festival is here.
EonweValar (4:12:17 PM):    Going now is the first micro-holiday: Call of the Scarab. See more about it in the announcement Remembering the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj.
EonweValar (4:12:47 PM):    Side note, the micro-holidays aren't going to last long when they're going, so if it's something you want to participate in, you'll have to move quick.
ArPharazon-V (4:13:21 PM):    Also note there are no permanent rewards (well, except a banner for whoever wins at the gates for the rest of the year) so it's not something you should feel you have to do.
ArPharazon-V (4:13:38 PM):    No pets, mounts, titles, achievements, toys, etc.
EonweValar (4:13:41 PM):    Other than to experience them, aye.
ArPharazon-V (4:13:47 PM):    Indeed.
EonweValar (4:14:31 PM):    Check out the latest hotfixes.
EonweValar (4:15:11 PM):    WoW Lothar: Saw that Bofur and Nob were in this week, besides myself.

EonweValar (4:15:32 PM):    Diablo 3:
EonweValar (4:15:44 PM):    Coming this Thursday: a Facebook Live Q&A on the Necromancer.
EonweValar (4:16:05 PM):    I'm hoping the Necromancer comes out soon. I know people looking forward to it, hehe.
ArPharazon-V (4:16:21 PM):    Any word yet on when anniversary ends?
Varda Valar (4:16:30 PM):    Sauron used to love the Necromance. :-)
EonweValar (4:16:34 PM):    End of January last I heard, so a little over a week left.
ArPharazon-V (4:16:53 PM):    Hmm. Finally got all my unique bosses yesterday, but still got the pages to gather.
EonweValar (4:17:39 PM):    Pages were easier than I thought they'd be. Just cleared the zones while doing bounties and ended up with them all soon enough. 1 cultist group possible per zone.
ArPharazon-V (4:18:36 PM):    Per act, or per area?
EonweValar (4:18:51 PM):    *per outdoor zone at least. DOn't think  I found any in an inside zone.
EonweValar (4:19:31 PM):    Per anywhere you can get to via waypoint, essentially.
ArPharazon-V (4:19:44 PM):    Good, good.
ArPharazon-V (4:19:52 PM):    Sounds farmable enough.
EonweValar (4:19:54 PM):    If a bounty can be there, pretty sure a cultist group can.
ArPharazon-V (4:20:16 PM):    I've got exact locations where they can, actually, but I wasn't sure on whether one spawned per act or area.
EonweValar (4:20:24 PM):    Plus they're tradable, so someone else can give them to you if it realyl came to it....
ArPharazon-V (4:20:40 PM):    But that would require being social.. *shiver*
EonweValar (4:20:44 PM):    lol :}

EonweValar (4:20:58 PM):    Heroes of the Storm:
EonweValar (4:21:10 PM):    The Lunar Festival is coming to Heroes of the Storm as well.
Varda Valar (4:21:18 PM):    (You[re pretty sociable with us!)
EonweValar (4:21:27 PM):    Rewards include a Rooster mount
ArPharazon-V (4:21:39 PM):    I can handle a chatroom once a week, but D3 grinds with pugs.. not so much.
EonweValar (4:21:42 PM):    Also, A new patch is up on the PTR.
EonweValar (4:22:28 PM):    Thus ends the Fifth Battle,... er, my games news.
Varda Valar (4:22:37 PM):    Thank you, Warrior Eonwe :-)
Varda Valar (4:22:46 PM):    Battle Commander

Varda Valar (4:23:00 PM):    LotRO:
Varda Valar (4:23:47 PM):    Winterstock player music event went from January 13 through the 16th, 40 bands playing over those days.
Varda Valar (4:24:11 PM):    It was held in Ered Luin, Thorin's Gate area at that frozen lake near the Silver Deep Mine.
Varda Valar (4:24:37 PM):    We can expect a new box run Monday.
Varda Valar (4:25:05 PM):    The Tolkien Professor will be giving his next lecture in LotRO Tuesday the 24th.
Varda Valar (4:25:32 PM):    9:30 p.m. /servertime which is the same as Eastern or Valar time.
Varda Valar (4:25:54 PM):    Since many of us can't go to those, they are also available on YouTube.
Varda Valar (4:26:52 PM):    Here's the first episode, for those interested in watching. They tend to run 60 to 90 minutes:
Varda Valar (4:26:54 PM):    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNJ_SBvoETI
Varda Valar (4:27:45 PM):    The gang in LotRO has been getting together for various runs and crafting together.
Varda Valar (4:27:54 PM):    Folks online this past week in LotRO:
Varda Valar (4:28:03 PM):
Bregalad
Celebrian
Dis
Elladan
Erkenbrand
Fangorn
Lenwe
Marigold
Nar
Nimrodel
Varda
Varda Valar (4:28:26 PM):    Anything else to add to the Gaming or Membership?
Varda Valar (4:29:17 PM):    StarCraft 2: Fangorn and Eowyn were gaming together.
Varda Valar (4:29:44 PM):    StarCraft/BroodWar: Fangorn and Varda and sometimes Sauron were gaming together.
Varda Valar (4:30:20 PM):    Any sign of more of the European crowd? Helm? Aragorn?
Varda Valar (4:30:49 PM):    We have three Europeans on right now: Arien, Ar-Pharazon, and Eru. Thanks for staying up late with us!
Arien V (4:31:01 PM):    i ve seen Helm a couple of times
Varda Valar (4:31:11 PM):    Good to hear. :-)
ArPharazon-V (4:31:19 PM):    Spoke to Fladrif a bit, battled him in Hearthstone.
Varda Valar (4:31:28 PM):    Excellent. Hi to Fladrif!
Varda Valar (4:31:42 PM):    Any sign of Menelvagor?
Varda Valar (4:32:39 PM):    Oh, additionally, here's an events schedule for LotRO:
Varda Valar (4:32:42 PM):    https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?646193-LOTRO-Events-Schedule
Arien V (4:32:51 PM):    he is at least playing and doing the worldquests sometimes .. he is just not happy with the druid nerf .. i dont find it so noticeable on my 105 druid which i play mostly as guardian .. much more survivable than feral but maybe its mnore noticeable on the topend
Varda Valar (4:32:56 PM):    Includes links to player events too.
Varda Valar (4:33:30 PM):    Thanks, Arien. :-)
Varda Valar (4:34:44 PM):    We can also still join the Saturday Roving Threats run with the Alliance. Ask Ibelyron for an invitation to the raid.
Varda Valar (4:35:14 PM):    Any other comments, suggestions, news?
Varda Valar (4:35:34 PM):    Tolkien:
ArPharazon-V (4:35:37 PM):    druid nerf...
ArPharazon-V (4:35:40 PM):    I'm doing fine so far?
Varda Valar (4:35:43 PM):    heh, go ahead.
ArPharazon-V (4:35:52 PM):    So.. what druid nerf?
ArPharazon-V (4:36:40 PM):    I think guardian did get nerfed a bit, but nothing spectacular, and feral seems fine to me.
ArPharazon-V (4:36:53 PM):    Oh well :-) Continue
Varda Valar (4:37:48 PM):    For some reason, I can't seem to side window with Eru. Is that because he's on Pidgin?
Eru-Valar (4:38:39 PM):    I have no idea...
Varda Valar (4:38:41 PM):    Just a guess. Seems as if we might have had that problem before.
EonweValar (4:38:51 PM):    I think it might be. It's been a while since last anyone came to the meeting in Pidgin, but I do believe some limitations were involved.
Eru-Valar (4:39:01 PM):    What is everyone else using?
Varda Valar (4:39:07 PM):    AIM legacy here.
EonweValar (4:39:12 PM):    AOL instant messenger.
EonweValar (4:39:27 PM):    One of the older ones, but not the oldest.
Varda Valar (4:39:27 PM):    (same thing)
ArPharazon-V (4:39:28 PM):    I couldn't even get it going on Pidgin, so I had to use Trillian.. until AIM seemed to fix itself again, and then I could switch back.
Varda Valar (4:39:57 PM):    Interesting. Main thing is we can all reach each other in the main chat. :-)
Eru-Valar (4:40:02 PM):    I tried to IM Varda, but it says: (22:39:34) Unable to send message: In local permit/deny
ArPharazon-V (4:40:21 PM):    Access denied.
Varda Valar (4:40:32 PM):    O wow. After you said that, I could suddenly send a message.
Eru-Valar (4:40:47 PM):    Must be a feature...
Varda Valar (4:41:21 PM):    Maybe because we both tried to send? No idea, but yay. :-)
ArPharazon-V (4:41:29 PM):    "We don't like what you're doing, but as long as you know it's wrong, we'll allow it."
Varda Valar (4:41:47 PM):    Maybe we had to wake it up.
Arien V (4:41:56 PM):    you are listed as offline Eru ^^ , i dont get my messages through to you
Varda Valar (4:42:05 PM):    That was what I kept seeing too.
EonweValar (4:42:16 PM):    https://www.aim.com/legacydownloads *should* take you to the one I use.
Eru-Valar (4:42:27 PM):    Strange, I'm set as Available.
ArPharazon-V (4:42:31 PM):    Oh, yes, noticed that last time as well, you're not online in the buddy list.
Arien V (4:42:32 PM):    eru68 is unable to receive offline messages
Varda Valar (4:42:53 PM):    Pidgin and Trillian are supposed to be safer, so it's fine with me for people to use it. Main thing is the main chat room.
Eru-Valar (4:42:54 PM):    Downloading AIM Legacy now.
EonweValar (4:43:02 PM):    Which is the only I *think* we're all using because the newest one doesn't seem to like us.
Varda Valar (4:43:06 PM):    And it did just work.
Varda Valar (4:43:15 PM):    Right, Eonwe. :-)
Eru-Valar (4:43:29 PM):    7.5?
Eru-Valar (4:43:50 PM):    I'll log out here and try it.
Eru-Valar (4:43:54 PM):    Be right back, hopefully.
Varda Valar (4:44:07 PM):    choose AIM for Windows (7.5.14.8) Released: May 31, 2012.
Varda Valar (4:44:18 PM):    oboy
ArPharazon-V (4:44:33 PM):    He dragged Eonwe with him.
Varda Valar (4:44:44 PM):    Strong winds from Eru's passing by.
EonweValar (4:44:47 PM):    Am I back now? The internet hamster must've tripped on the wheel.
ArPharazon-V (4:44:54 PM):    Aiyata
Varda Valar (4:44:54 PM):    Aye and aye. Silly hamster.
EonweValar (4:45:10 PM):    7.5.14.8 should be it.
Varda Valar (4:46:01 PM):    Aye. We do have it at the first of each month on the Sunday meeting info. If it helps.
Varda Valar (4:46:13 PM):    Used to have it every Sunday. Tried to declutter.
Varda Valar (4:47:04 PM):    Eru is working on joining the chat room now.
Varda Valar (4:47:40 PM):    If there are too many invitations at once, it blocks the person until the inviter(s) leave the chat room.
Varda Valar (4:48:08 PM):    Meanwhile,
top

Varda Valar (4:48:10 PM):    Tolkien:
Varda Valar (4:48:35 PM):    The forum rp has been neglected a long time. But now the group is back together in AIM. Maybe we could start up again?
Varda Valar (4:49:24 PM):    Huzzah!
Eru-Valar (4:49:38 PM):    Seems to be ok...
ArPharazon-V (4:49:39 PM):    I had been thinking about it recently, but we're kinda stuck in Rivendell as far as I'm aware.
ArPharazon-V (4:49:47 PM):    Yay!
Varda Valar (4:50:14 PM):    We should probably make a short bit where we see the Fellowship off, to catch us up to Auros. He might be there as well.
Varda Valar (4:50:29 PM):    Flashback for him, as a way to do it? Or straight out?
EonweValar (4:50:34 PM):    I haven't thought about it recently enough. I know when I made my last post I ended up days ahead of everyone else, and so was waiting for catchup.
Varda Valar (4:51:13 PM):    We could be used as a decoy group for the Fellowship's leaving, as just another couple of scouting groups going out.
Varda Valar (4:52:09 PM):    We can think about it, see if we want to do a flashback with Auros or just the rest of us go see our prince leave. We'd feel a need to do that, the Mirkwood group and our friend, Frali, seeing Gimli off.
Varda Valar (4:52:46 PM):    Guess we can't just ride out at the same time, since Auros' story is showing him still in Rivendell after that time.
Varda Valar (4:52:52 PM):    Aiyata :-)
ArPharazon-V (4:53:29 PM):    "We gotta go back... we forgot to take Auros."
Varda Valar (4:53:36 PM):    ooops. :-)

Varda Valar (4:55:53 PM):    Eru says eonwevalar shows on his block list all of a sudden and would like to know how to change that.
Eru-Valar (4:56:39 PM):    Now he's back again.
Varda Valar (4:56:43 PM):    For me, it's under Privacy
Varda Valar (4:56:57 PM):    which is under Options.
Varda Valar (4:57:04 PM):    Crazy programs.
Eru-Valar (4:57:21 PM):    Eonwe, can you see me typing this?
EonweValar (4:57:24 PM):    I do
Varda Valar (4:57:30 PM):    *whew*
Eru-Valar (4:57:36 PM):    Good, it suddenly said you were on my block list...
EonweValar (4:57:37 PM):    Don't know how I got on your block list.
Varda Valar (4:58:08 PM):    It seemed to happen when you crashed while Eru left. Some weirdness, temporary.
EonweValar (4:58:28 PM):    I thought it was all of us AIM didn't like. Obviously it's just me personally, lol.
Varda Valar (4:58:41 PM):    Right!
EonweValar (4:58:42 PM):    :}

Varda Valar (4:59:15 PM):    Ok, so do we want an Auros flashback or continue as a linear narrative in our forum story?
Varda Valar (4:59:40 PM):    We might say, Hey, is that Auros over there?
ArPharazon-V (5:00:12 PM):    He does not appear to notice us, like he's going on a script...
Varda Valar (5:00:27 PM):    /wave

Varda Valar (5:00:52 PM):    Ok, taking Tolkien topics, and I have a request too.
Varda Valar (5:01:21 PM):    We can use fresh entry questions for the membership questions. I'm getting into a rut. :-)
Varda Valar (5:01:51 PM):    Need to be ones that aren't answered by the movies as a mention or are said wrong on the movies.
Varda Valar (5:01:59 PM):    Just on the LotR.
Eru-Valar (5:02:18 PM):    Something about Tom Bombadil then...
Varda Valar (5:02:28 PM):    Feel free to make suggestions, even funny ones that can get us thinking.
Varda Valar (5:02:34 PM):    True. Tom's a good one.
ArPharazon-V (5:02:44 PM):    Like, what Rohan commander accompanied Gandalf at dawn in the battle of Helm's Deep?
Eru-Valar (5:02:45 PM):    Also the Barrow Wights.
Varda Valar (5:02:56 PM):    Aye, our poor Erkenbrand-V was left out.
Varda Valar (5:03:26 PM):    Kind of need these to be in some form of question, as Phar just did. But I can figure something out.
Eru-Valar (5:03:52 PM):    Who's horse did Frodo ride to the Ford of Bruinen.
Varda Valar (5:04:07 PM):    Asfaloth, aye. Noro lim, aka giddyup!
Eru-Valar (5:04:25 PM):    Yes, though movie only people will say Arwen's of course.
Eru-Valar (5:04:51 PM):    They can be then tossed into the Sammath Naur
Varda Valar (5:05:18 PM):    And who did Frodo ride with over the Ford of Bruinen? Actually do a version of that now.
Varda Valar (5:05:22 PM):    and right!
Eru-Valar (5:05:42 PM):    Who is the leader of the eagles?
EonweValar (5:06:05 PM):    "How did Merry and Pippin end up as part of the Fellowship?"
Eru-Valar (5:06:11 PM):    Yes.
Varda Valar (5:06:29 PM):    (Sammath Naur is that place in Mt. Doom that Frodo went to chuck in the Ring.)
Eru-Valar (5:06:52 PM):    Who is Fredegar "Fatty" Bolger?
Varda Valar (5:07:10 PM):    What did he do that helped Frodo escape?
Eru-Valar (5:07:15 PM):    (I'm just thinking of non-movie things really.)
Varda Valar (5:07:36 PM):    Good job. I should work later to make questions from them. Thanks.
ArPharazon-V (5:07:37 PM):    Whose mushrooms had a shortcut?
Eru-Valar (5:07:54 PM):    And what were Farmer Maggot's dogs called?
ArPharazon-V (5:08:00 PM):    Was his name mentioned in the movie?
Eru-Valar (5:08:05 PM):    Yes
Eru-Valar (5:08:16 PM):    Maggot I mean.
ArPharazon-V (5:08:25 PM):    Hmm, might be bad by association then ;-)
Eru-Valar (5:08:36 PM):    Never mentioned Grip or Fang though.
Varda Valar (5:08:37 PM):    Some of those questions are actually answered in the game. But they had to be paying attention.
Varda Valar (5:08:40 PM):    or Wolf
ArPharazon-V (5:08:49 PM):    Though I do like the idea of incorporating chapter titles into the questions.
Varda Valar (5:08:59 PM):    Not a bad idea
Varda Valar (5:09:14 PM):    The movies incorporated them too, a nod to us lore-nuts.
Varda Valar (5:11:19 PM):    Enjoyment of the LotRO game is increased by seeing so many book things and people incorporated.
Eru-Valar (5:11:53 PM):    Very true.
Varda Valar (5:11:53 PM):    It's good to have some questions from all three books.
Varda Valar (5:12:22 PM):    People will have read maybe the first two and not read the last, for instance.
Varda Valar (5:12:28 PM):    or skipped one.
Eru-Valar (5:12:28 PM):    Which Prince rode to the aid of Minas Tirith?
Varda Valar (5:12:35 PM):    Imrahil
Varda Valar (5:13:14 PM):    Who did Aragorn give the title of prince to?
ArPharazon-V (5:13:28 PM):    I don't know that one. Is it Eomer?
ArPharazon-V (5:13:40 PM):    Or Merry or something?
Varda Valar (5:13:51 PM):    This may be a good way to test if the questions are good for entry or too tough.
ArPharazon-V (5:14:09 PM):    To be fair I really should've been rereading the books about.. oh.. 5 years ago ;-)
Eru-Valar (5:14:12 PM):    Which Ranger brought Aragorn the standard which Arwen made for him?
Varda Valar (5:14:18 PM):    Halbarad
Eru-Valar (5:14:35 PM):    Faramir was made Prince of Ithilien.
Varda Valar (5:14:39 PM):    Aye
Varda Valar (5:15:11 PM):    Eru's questions over the books made me go back and look more closely, a lot more closely, after a Maia test.
ArPharazon-V (5:15:15 PM):    Ah!
Eru-Valar (5:15:32 PM):    Who was the nurse in the Houses of Healing?
Varda Valar (5:15:34 PM):    It was educational on how many holes my memory had.
Varda Valar (5:15:36 PM):    Ioreth
Varda Valar (5:16:24 PM):    It was funny, as I thought I knew the books pretty well. Definitely didn't at that time.
Eru-Valar (5:16:24 PM):    Unfortunately the movies tured Athelas into a cure everyone could use.
Varda Valar (5:16:32 PM):    Aye, that was weird.
Varda Valar (5:16:48 PM):    And lembas, only given by the hand of an elf queen.
Eru-Valar (5:17:00 PM):    Yes.
Varda Valar (5:17:06 PM):    Galadriel gave them out, so she was actually moe than a "Lady".
Varda Valar (5:17:10 PM):    *more
Varda Valar (5:17:38 PM):    But then, the lembas did seem to be distributed among those in that person's group.
Varda Valar (5:17:42 PM):    Delegated.
Eru-Valar (5:17:48 PM):    If she'd taken the Ring she would have been a queen.
Varda Valar (5:17:58 PM):    Aye, a scary one too!
ArPharazon-V (5:18:11 PM):    Heh, reminds me of the Fellowship of the Ring game where lembas was *the* endgame food, and thus could be found everywhere between orc camps and looted from orcs.
Varda Valar (5:18:15 PM):    She did act as ruler in Lothlorien. Whatever title she used.
Varda Valar (5:18:28 PM):    ouch. Looted from orcs. :-)
Eru-Valar (5:18:48 PM):    As if they'd even touch it.
Varda Valar (5:19:09 PM):    Athelas was good for a few things by regular people, but healing the Black Breath was only by the King. It was how they could know him. The reason for the name of kingsfoil.
Eru-Valar (5:19:32 PM):    Yes.
Varda Valar (5:19:35 PM):    Lembas burned Gollum. I wonder if it did the same to orcs?
Eru-Valar (5:19:59 PM):    I'd imagine it'd upset any servants of Sauron.
Varda Valar (5:20:02 PM):    New weapon!
Varda Valar (5:20:12 PM):    Throw your lembas at the big bad!
Varda Valar (5:20:26 PM):    Might have to tie it to a rock.
Varda Valar (5:20:51 PM):    Now that's Tolkienesque gaming.
Varda Valar (5:21:13 PM):    Shelob would have been too strong.
Varda Valar (5:21:40 PM):    Sam's going along rather than being sent back in Shelob's tunnel could be one question subject.
Varda Valar (5:22:34 PM):    Maybe something about that insane bit where Sam, Frodo, and Gollum are taken to Osgiliath and Frodo reveals the Ring to a Nazgul, throwing off the whole decoy story for Aragorn.

ArPharazon-V (5:22:46 PM):    Argh, hit wrong key by mistake. Someone else is going to have to pick up the transcript.
Varda Valar (5:22:48 PM):    You missed nothing, Phar.
Varda Valar (5:22:59 PM):    At least on this end.
Varda Valar (5:23:06 PM):    I'll fill in the hole.
ArPharazon-V (5:23:19 PM):    No, not the hole. Everything.
ArPharazon-V (5:23:26 PM):    Up to now.
Varda Valar (5:23:30 PM):    oboy
Eru-Valar (5:23:41 PM):    ArPharazonV has left the room.
ArPharazonV is on your blocked list.
Eru-Valar (5:23:48 PM):    But he's not when he returned...
Varda Valar (5:23:49 PM):    ack
Eru-Valar (5:23:53 PM):    I love technology.
EonweValar (5:24:00 PM):    Is that Pidgin or AIM telling you that, Eru?
Varda Valar (5:24:02 PM):    heh. About as much as JRRT did?

ArPharazon-V (5:24:06 PM):    any case, I was going to say I'd considered the Sam/Shelob question

Eru-Valar (5:24:06 PM):    AIM legacy.
Varda Valar (5:24:10 PM):    Are both up?
EonweValar (5:24:11 PM):    Interesting.
ArPharazon-V (5:24:12 PM):    but I didn't know how you'd phrase it
Varda Valar (5:24:21 PM):    Pidgin did the same thing.
Eru-Valar (5:24:33 PM):    I've only seen it in AIM.
Varda Valar (5:24:46 PM):    ahh
EonweValar (5:25:16 PM):    Can't say I've seen that happen in AIM, and it would be odd to have a setting that does that.
Eru-Valar (5:25:32 PM):    Luckily it seems to have no effect.
Varda Valar (5:26:46 PM):    Are both Pidgin and AIM up?
Eru-Valar (5:26:56 PM):    No, only AIM.
Eru-Valar (5:28:24 PM):    Alas my time is up for the evening.  It's been a pleasure to meet with you all again, namarie!
Varda Valar (5:28:25 PM):    ok
Varda Valar (5:28:29 PM):    Namarie!
Varda Valar (5:28:33 PM):    Thanks for coming. :-)
ArPharazon-V (5:28:51 PM):    Namarie Eru!
Varda Valar (5:30:05 PM):    So, about 6:30 pm Eastern time.
Varda Valar (5:30:10 PM):    Good to know.
ArPharazon-V (5:30:32 PM):    'alf hour after midnight for me
Varda Valar (5:32:27 PM):    ugh
Varda Valar (5:32:35 PM):    5:30 pm for Eonwe and me
Varda Valar (5:33:07 PM):    It can be tough for people to break into the busy part of the day and come here. Reason we see so few non-Europeans.
EonweValar (5:33:29 PM):    The time means actually that it's time for me to head out now as well.
ArPharazon-V (5:33:31 PM):    Around midnight before a monday? I can imagine many people would already be sleeping :-)
ArPharazon-V (5:33:34 PM):    Namarie!
Varda Valar (5:33:34 PM):    No one gets it easy. :-)  Proud of all who manage to come here, especially regularly.
Varda Valar (5:33:39 PM):    Agreed.
EonweValar (5:33:55 PM):    Take care all, good night, sleep well, and hope to see you next week :}
Varda Valar (5:33:58 PM):    Namarie!
Varda Valar (5:34:34 PM):    Ok, for the record,
Varda Valar (5:34:48 PM):    Phar clicks on the chat room and hits Save Conversation.
Varda Valar (5:34:59 PM):    "Save this conversation"
ArPharazon-V (5:35:37 PM):    Right-click ;-)
Varda Valar (5:35:44 PM):    Right click, thanks.
Varda Valar (5:36:06 PM):    I'm now trying it, hoping for a cleaner copy than the automatic log.
Varda Valar (5:36:26 PM):    Both can be done at the same time, so there's something to fall back on.
ArPharazon-V (5:36:33 PM):    Indeed!
Varda Valar (5:37:12 PM):    *picks up a gavel from the shelf gingerly*
Varda Valar (5:37:17 PM):    *swings it*
Varda Valar (5:37:33 PM):    *the gavel keeps growing larger and larger. So does the hammerpad*
Varda Valar (5:37:42 PM):    *thooooooommmmmm!*
Varda Valar (5:37:54 PM):    *stones reverberate*
Varda Valar (5:38:07 PM):    *Behave!*
Varda Valar (5:38:26 PM):    *both shrink back to normal as if they never did anything nutty, so innocent-looking*
Varda Valar (5:38:46 PM):    *replacing the hammer on the conveyor belt shelf*
top

Varda Valar (5:38:51 PM):    After-meeting!
Varda Valar (5:38:54 PM):    Free chat. :-)

Varda Valar (5:40:32 PM):    Could still use more entry questions, if anyone happens to think of one out of the blue. I'll keep coming up with more also.
Varda Valar (5:41:01 PM):    What weapons did Gimli use might be trickier than it sounds.
Varda Valar (5:41:06 PM):    hmm
Varda Valar (5:41:09 PM):    hmm
ArPharazon-V (5:41:25 PM):    I'm gonna start with an axe.
Varda Valar (5:41:39 PM):    sounds like a good start.  ^^
Varda Valar (5:42:00 PM):    Seems as if I remember his throwing some too.
ArPharazon-V (5:42:15 PM):    Yep.
Varda Valar (5:42:28 PM):    Here's hoping he managed to collect them again.
ArPharazon-V (5:42:50 PM):    In the words of the over 20 year old now Warcraft 2 troll axethrower...
ArPharazon-V (5:42:55 PM):    I got axe for you!
Varda Valar (5:43:00 PM):    So he'd go out after his throwing axes while Legolas went after his arrows.
Varda Valar (5:43:06 PM):    heh.  :-)
Varda Valar (5:43:13 PM):    I axed for that.

Varda Valar (5:43:55 PM):    Guess our ladies of the Sun and of the Rangers are away?
Arien V (5:44:53 PM):    well half
Varda Valar (5:45:03 PM):    Partial eclipse!
Arien V (5:45:09 PM):    hehe
Varda Valar (5:45:31 PM):    If you happen to have any suggestions for entry questions, I'd sure like to take a look :-)
Varda Valar (5:46:16 PM):    Email is always open.
Varda Valar (5:46:49 PM):    Phar, guess you can give your report whenever you get around to it. Don't want to get you killed in-game!
ArPharazon-V (5:47:27 PM):    Currently hunting lunar festival coins in Eastern Kingdoms, but I can give parts of the report as I fly ;-)
Varda Valar (5:47:48 PM):    Cool. The pauses don't show in the transcript. :-)

ArPharazon-V (5:49:50 PM):    Allright, personal gaming report!
ArPharazon-V (5:49:56 PM):    3 flashgames for ye this week!
Varda Valar (5:50:14 PM):    yay
ArPharazon-V (5:59:55 PM):    http://www.kongregate.com/games/flori9/circloo is the first! A weird physics platformer, deceptively simple. You control a ball in a circular level which gets a new outer layer every time you reach the circle goal, just by moving to the left or right.
ArPharazon-V (6:00:08 PM):    All about gravity, momentum, and good use of the obstacles along the way.
ArPharazon-V (6:03:44 PM):    http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/duck_roll is the second game. Puzzle game, roll the duck block to the exit, moving other block along the way to make bridges etc.
ArPharazon-V (6:03:46 PM):    *blocks
ArPharazon-V (6:04:00 PM):    Minimum moves needed is shown in the corner.
ArPharazon-V (6:08:25 PM):    http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/duck_roll is the third! Defensive game, build walls with soldiers and cannons on them to hold out against wave after wave of attackers.
ArPharazon-V (6:09:02 PM):    Filled with achievements, each of which give upgrades to your troops, economy, etc. Which in turn makes it easier to get more achievements. Collect em all!
ArPharazon-V (6:09:23 PM):    ehr
ArPharazon-V (6:09:25 PM):    Wrong link
ArPharazon-V (6:09:31 PM):    http://www.kongregate.com/games/SpaceCatStudios/master-of-fortresses that's it
ArPharazon-V (6:10:05 PM):    Some stuff is kinda overpowered though, which makes it easier to get a head start :-)
ArPharazon-V (6:12:07 PM):    Grindy, a bit out of balance, with achievements and upgrades. What more could I want from a simple game as this? ;-)

ArPharazon-V (6:13:47 PM):    Blizzard gaming!
ArPharazon-V (6:14:36 PM):    Diablo 3: Level 61 now for the season. Got all the unique bosses for the anniversary event, unlocking an old-school devil portrait, next I will work on 7 pages from prophets for the angel portrait.
ArPharazon-V (6:15:32 PM):    Ended up minimizing the difficulty and putting all my focus on movement abilities, just to grind through the labyrinth faster for those uniques, and it still took quite a while. I think I'll keep the same for the pages.
ArPharazon-V (6:16:46 PM):    Heroes of the Storm: Malfurion leveled to 10! Another portrait and possibility for master skin unlocked. To replace him as warcraft support hero, I went for the cheapest one available at the time, and bought Lili. But haven't tried her out yet. I think I'll make some sort of wind-based spec.
ArPharazon-V (6:18:05 PM):    This week's brawl was new, Bloodlust, whereby both teams consist of a single role of hero (warrior, assassin, etc) on the Dragonshire map. Every now and then, 2 heroes of each team (or all heroes!) get bloodlust, increasing movement and attackspeed for a short time. Makes for some exciting teamfights.
ArPharazon-V (6:19:53 PM):    Hearthstone: Not much to add. Putting some xp on the heroes. Brawl was interesting though. Choose 10 non-duplicate cards for your class, each turn instead of drawing a card you discover a card out of 3 random cards from your 10.
ArPharazon-V (6:21:44 PM):    WoW:
ArPharazon-V (6:21:47 PM):    So much stuff again.
ArPharazon-V (6:22:10 PM):    Where to start...
ArPharazon-V (6:23:13 PM):    Finally got my feral hidden appearance, the owlcat form, after getting the third screech from Feralas. I'm now using the white skin that came with 200 world quests as hidden, which I'd accomplished the week before, and am really liking being an owlcat :-)
ArPharazon-V (6:23:38 PM):    I now have 3 out of 4 hidden for druid, and the fourth one should be the simplest, as the main ingredient there is exalted reputation.
ArPharazon-V (6:24:17 PM):    I also unlocked another skin for collecting 8 rare archaeology artifacts, getting me the pink-grey rock form for bear, my favorite!
ArPharazon-V (6:24:37 PM):    Been after this one for a long time, and I think I can say it was the thing I wanted most from this expansion.
ArPharazon-V (6:24:53 PM):    Between the owlskin for cat and the rockform for bear, I'm quite happy with the way I look in both specs now :-)
ArPharazon-V (6:26:01 PM):    Our raids are going well! We started Nighthold, and have taken out.. *counts* 6 out of 10 bosses on normal difficulty already.
ArPharazon-V (6:26:19 PM):    They're quite fun, and a bit nostalgic too. One of them involves eating cake ;-)
ArPharazon-V (6:28:46 PM):    I've gotten a new pet from the old Northrend raids too, a ghostly blue whelp dropped from Sindragosa. That makes 10 out of 17 for me, or out of 16 for the achievement.
ArPharazon-V (6:31:10 PM):    As for world quests, steadily continuing on. I've now done over 200 *different* world quests, and it's finally slowing down a bit because most of the ones remaining are duplicates I have no desire to do again unless it's for achievements or emissaries.
ArPharazon-V (6:32:32 PM):    As of today, I've completed 30 different pet battle worldquests, giving me a Pocket Pet Portal! I can now store 1500 pets instead of 1000.
ArPharazon-V (6:32:42 PM):    I only had 785, so still plenty of room ;-)
ArPharazon-V (6:34:11 PM):    For the Family Familiar achievement, I'm finally done with the humanoid achievement, and also started undead and even the critter part, after facing the same tamer for the fifth time. So making good progress there.
ArPharazon-V (6:35:21 PM):    As for appearances from old instances: Finished normal slave pens, and started on heroic slave pens. Definitely takes me back, and it's the first instance I'm farming which is also available as timewalk, so it's not one I've totally forgotten :-)
ArPharazon-V (6:35:59 PM):    Pooh, what else..
ArPharazon-V (6:36:06 PM):    Holiday events!
ArPharazon-V (6:36:48 PM):    Call of the Scarab is/was this weekend, and I did a few world quests there to aid the alliance effort a bit. Not much special, though it did use the summons we had all the way back at the War Effort when the raids first came out. Very nostalgic indeed.
ArPharazon-V (6:37:40 PM):    Lunar Festival also started, with 3 new toys, a costume for a dragon head, body and tail. Already had the currency for them, requiring 60 coins in total, and am currently working to get the stockpile back up in case some other new stuff comes next year too :-)
ArPharazon-V (6:40:26 PM):    And finally, this week's weekly quest was timewalking in Northrend. I'm saving badges for the new Pandaria stuff as I go, before it arrives at 2 more timewalk events from now. My druid is barely on schedule for the 5000-badge mount, and might need one or two extra timewalks when the time comes. But my alts are both well ahead on schedule for the 2000 things. So all the most expensive things will be gotten the first time it rolls around!
ArPharazon-V (6:40:41 PM):    Alas, with all the stuff to do I've not had time to continue Suramar questing. Maybe next week, eh?
ArPharazon-V (6:40:48 PM):    That's my report for this week!

Arien V (6:52:39 PM):    grats
Varda Valar (7:09:42 PM):    Very good.
Varda Valar (7:09:45 PM):    Thanks
Arien V (7:35:32 PM):    Night night and Namarie :-) nicely done
Varda Valar (7:35:42 PM):    Namarie Arien :-)
ArPharazon-V (7:38:31 PM):    Namarie Arien, late though it may be!
Varda Valar (7:38:42 PM):    It will be on the transcript.  :-)
ArPharazon-V (7:38:59 PM):    Indeed :-)
ArPharazon-V (9:08:53 PM):    saving and sending transcript
Varda Valar (9:09:03 PM):    Thank you.
Varda Valar (9:09:09 PM):    Between us we'll have it.
ArPharazon-V (9:09:19 PM):    good :-)
ArPharazon-V (9:09:20 PM):    saved
Varda Valar (9:09:21 PM):    Namarie Gilraen too
Varda Valar (9:09:29 PM):    Rest well, Phar. :-)
Varda Valar (9:09:52 PM):    Namarie
ArPharazon-V (9:09:57 PM):    namarie!
