Before-meeting
Ar-Pharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.
Varda Valar (VardaValar1) has entered the room.
Varda Valar: Aiya Phar :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya!
Varda Valar: Marigold is figuring out how to enter with Trillian
Ar-Pharazon-V: Trillian.. I used that at one point, didn't I?
Varda Valar: Marigold_Gamgee
Varda Valar: is her name
Ar-Pharazon-V: I.. wouldn't even know how to use it anymore, though. Didn't someone need to invite me from an empty room, or was that some other program?
Ar-Pharazon-V: I can't see her online.
Varda Valar: Me either
Varda Valar: Lenwe's sister
Ar-Pharazon-V: Says she's offline, in fact.
Varda Valar: agreed
Arien V (AriehnV) has entered the room.
Varda Valar: Aiya Arien :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya!
Arien V: Aiya Varda :-)
Arien V: Aiya Phari :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Guess all that poking taught you to be online earlier, to avoid it!
Varda Valar: hehe
Arien V: maybe
Varda Valar: Anyone know how to connect to AIM chat by Trillian?
Ar-Pharazon-V: I vaguely recall something about selecting AIM in the login settings..
Ar-Pharazon-V: Honestly, I never really bothered to get into it too much.
Varda Valar: Passiing it on
Arien V: I used Trillian once maybe a long time ago .. i cant remember
Eonwe Valar (Eonwe Valar) has entered the room.
Varda Valar: Aiya Eonwe  :-)
Perseid28 has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya :}
Varda Valar: Aiya Lenwe :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya Eonwe and Lenwe!
Perseid28: Aiya, thanks Eonwe!
Arien V: Aiya Eonw and Lenwe :-D , full house tonight :-D
Varda Valar: Lenwe's Trillian name shows up for us, but marigold_gamgee does not
Varda Valar: Is that the right name?
Perseid28: That looks correct
Varda Valar: shows as offline to us
Varda Valar: Let's start :-)
top

Varda Valar: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
Varda Valar: Membership:
Varda Valar: Elwing cleared out a lot of her Tolkien movie books to unload clutter, letting me have them. She knows that clutter is welcome here. :-)
Varda Valar: Thanks, Elwing :-)
Varda Valar: Any other membership news?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Becoming a nice library there?
Varda Valar: Ever nicer. Several shelves worth.
marigoldthebrave has entered the room.
Varda Valar: Marigold!
marigoldthebrave: Yay!
marigoldthebrave: Greetings, all!
Varda Valar: Huzzah!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Yay! Welcome!
Varda Valar: You show to me with your email. Would you like that edited a bit in the transcript? Find and replace works.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Showing you as your email, but there you are.
Varda Valar: She must be with the Hobbit's Quick Post  :-)
Varda Valar: Marigold, would you like to say a few words to introduce yourself to the gang? Maybe country, time zone, how you found yourself here? :-)
marigoldthebrave: Yes ... I just set up an AIM account this afternoon (that was the glitch) and somehow that ended up being my username....not entirely sure why :)
Varda Valar: There's a name and a display name. Might check what you have there?
Varda Valar: After your few words, first. :-)
marigoldthebrave: I'll check that!  As for the introduction: Hi, all! I'm from the northern part of the US, CST,
marigoldthebrave: And my brother (Lenwe) introduced me to the Valar Guild
Varda Valar: yay!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Welcome!
marigoldthebrave: Thank you!
Varda Valar: She has been one of our nifty minstrels in LotRO, very glad of her being there!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Good name for a band.
Varda Valar: We have several countries (and US states) represented here, if everyone would like to sound off with theirs?
Varda Valar: US, TX CST
Varda Valar: sorry, Texas.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Lands of the Nether!
marigoldthebrave: US, Minnesota, CST
Ar-Pharazon-V: GMT+1 (usually)
Varda Valar: (Feel free to pop in with yours later if you're lurking and come back in a bit.)
Perseid28: US, Ohio, EST
Arien V: Uk, Scotland, Isle of Skye , GMT
Ar-Pharazon-V: Skye.. that's like the northern-most point, right?
Arien V: not really .. there is about 100 or 200 miles coastline to the the north if you follow the mainland round
Ar-Pharazon-V: Ah, nevermind then :-)
Arien V: nearest towns are Fort William and Inverness about 110 miles from here
Arien V: bigger town to the north is Thurso .. but that is northeast #
Varda Valar: Hi from Dis  :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: You are very isolated by the sound of it.
Eonwe Valar (Eonwe Valar) has left the room.
Arien V: so it is on the north west coast of Scotland  fairly close to the mainland and 30 miles from the Isles of Lewis and Harris .. next stop after that is New York :-)
Eonwe Valar (Eonwe Valar) has entered the room.
Varda Valar: hehe - that's a wet trek
Ar-Pharazon-V: Second star to the right and straight on 'til sunrise..
Varda Valar: ^^
Arien V: yup ^^ the 30 miles are ocean by the way .. its a water street called *The Minch*
marigoldthebrave: That sounds exciting.
Varda Valar: Does Minch mean something in English?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Probably something like "water street" ;-)
Varda Valar: Fitting
Varda Valar: On to...

Varda Valar: Web News:
Varda Valar: On the Tolkien Site, we have a new chapter for Little Jewel-(T)'s story
Varda Valar: Learning to Smile, chapter 4:
Varda Valar: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authors/LittleJewel/Life4.htm
Varda Valar: End Tolkien Site news.

Varda Valar: Lenwe has some news.
Varda Valar: He had to step out for a minute. Here's the copy/paste:
Varda Valar: LenweV
I successfully rebuilt my computer this morning, significantly upgrading most of the major components. Initial indications are that it works great! Looking forward to hitting Minas Tirith and Rohan in LotRO to see if there's improvment.
Varda Valar: /end paste
Varda Valar: That's a big deal to all us computer nuts and gamers here. :-)
Varda Valar: Grats, Lenwe!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Indeed it is. I wonder which bits of my pc should be upgraded by now... unfortunately I haven't seen my expert, Fladrif, in a while (in RL anyway).
Ar-Pharazon-V: And grats :-)
Varda Valar: Maybe he can help you online?
Varda Valar: On to...
top

Varda Valar: Gaming!
Varda Valar: Eonwe, go ahead. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}

Eonwe Valar: The 12th Anniversary celebration is going. (If you're collecting the timewarped badges for mounts/pets, don't miss the daily where you can get some more during this event).
Eonwe Valar: Check out this week's hotfixes.

Eonwe Valar: Diablo 3:
Adjustments have been made to the PTR patch notes.

Eonwe Valar: A new patch is out. Check out the patch notes.
Eonwe Valar: Blizzard also says to new players, "Welcome to the Nexus!"

Eonwe Valar: Hearthstone:
Eonwe Valar: See the new issue of the Gadgetzan Gazzette.
Eonwe Valar: Also see the new blog A Taste of the Kabal.

Ar-Pharazon-V: For Heroes of the Storm I'll add that the Nexus Challenge has started - play 30 games with a friend between now and January, and you get a bunch of heroes and portraits free!
Eonwe Valar: And that Overwatch news on the Games Site is actually old news.
Eonwe Valar: That's it for me.
Varda Valar: Thank you, Eonwe :-)

Varda Valar: LotRO:
Varda Valar: Wednesday we were down for maintenance again, but it seems to have settled down since.
Varda Valar: Some fun grouping and experimenting, plus team crafting. :-)
Varda Valar: Any other general gaming news?
Ar-Pharazon-V: I think the third Nova mission pack for Starcraft II is either out, or coming, not sure.
Varda Valar: Last I saw it was coming out, but it's been a day or two.
Varda Valar: Fellow Valarites seen this last week in LotRO:
Varda Valar:
Arien
Bregalad/Quickbeam
Dis
Erkenbrand
Fangorn
Finglas/Leaflock
Lenwe
Marigold
Nar
Nimrodel
Varda
Ar-Pharazon-V: (Ah yes, soonâ„¢)
Varda Valar: Aye :-)

Varda Valar: Elwing's better, but her computer is still in pieces in boxes. She'll be back with us eventually.
Varda Valar: Her video card is shot.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Ouch.

Varda Valar: Thanksgiving is next week in the USA, Meriadoc plans to visit, so you may be seeing him online then. :-)
Varda Valar: Any other Valarites spotted this past week? Fladrif, Helm, Aragorn?
Varda Valar: Oh, Nob-V was in LotRO this last week. :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Not that I recall. I'll dig through the friendslist.
Varda Valar: Next up will be Tolkien. Please whisper me suggestions if you have any.

Ar-Pharazon-V: Fladrif: Offline for 3 days. Well, still last week!
Varda Valar: Very good. :-)

Varda Valar: Tolkien!
Varda Valar: What do we know of Marigold, the Hobbit?
Varda Valar: First off, we need an article for her in our Tolkien Site. :-)
Varda Valar: The articles help us with our role-play, not just for the named character but to help others relate to that person.
Varda Valar: Taking Marigold for example, if she met Hamfast Gamgee, who would he be to her?
Ar-Pharazon-V: I'm.. gonna say a relative?
Varda Valar: She was a Hobbit born in the Third Age 2983, so finding out what events she would have lived through would tell about her life experiences somewhat, or what she might have heard of.
Varda Valar: Right.
Varda Valar: She was his youngest child.
Varda Valar: Or if the player Marigold met Tolman Cotton, they might act quite differently.
Varda Valar: Any idea why?
Varda Valar: This is not a closed book test, just a discussion. :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: I could go get my books, but I wouldn't know where to start ;-) Fellowship, Scouring, Appendix C...
Eonwe Valar: My books are trapped right now, heh.
Varda Valar: *springs books* "Run freeeeee!"
Varda Valar: Tolman Cotton and Marigold might stammer and blush, dance the Springlering. They married.
Varda Valar: So that's an idea how to tackle an article on her.
Ar-Pharazon-V: How sweet. So if Sam's her brother, and married Rose, one of them was already related to their spouse before they got married.
Varda Valar: Timeline, place lived, people known.
Varda Valar: Right!
Varda Valar: She's the sister to the famous Samwise Gamgee, his baby sister. :-)
Varda Valar: So, those would be more characters of interest for the article.
Varda Valar: The people she would have known in her family or that influenced her life in various ways.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Was any mention made of her during the main story? For a people so interested in geneaeoaeology, they didn't appear to talk about their family much.
Varda Valar: She's in the Return of the King
Varda Valar: I only see her in the index though
Arien V: well Tolman was something of an adventurer too .. wasnt he involved in the battle of Bywater and helped organise it? and the Gamgees seem to be a loyal lot , willing to go beyond their fears and weaknesses , imagined or real, to find some deeper courage .. it might appeal to Tolman yes?
Varda Valar: Appendix C, a geneology table.
Varda Valar: So a marriage of shockingly adventure-minded hobbits!
marigoldthebrave: Though...not sure the Gamgees would typically be considered adventure-minded, barring Sam.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Must be some Fallohide in them.
Varda Valar: Sam was more of a Harfoot
Varda Valar: Frodo was a Fallohide
Ar-Pharazon-V: Maybe the Fallohide blood was just waiting for an opportunity?
Varda Valar: Maybe :-)
marigoldthebrave: Or I've wondered whether it was mainly a result of his Gamgee loyalty...the adventuring came as a result of being loyal to Frodo, just as his dad was loyal to the Bagginses for years.
marigoldthebrave: He does love the Elves, but perhaps that's his love for poetry, rather than adventure?
marigoldthebrave: Just musing :)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Isn't a love of poetry Fallohide-ish in itself?
Varda Valar: Tolman Cotton is also known as Tom. Trivia deluxe.
Varda Valar: Aye
Varda Valar: The Fallohides were the nearest to having elvish-style interests.
Varda Valar: (Meriadoc-V just came online in LotRO.)
Varda Valar: So we see how our tiny article kept growing and growing. Just with the LotR to work with. :-)
Varda Valar: Then with many articles, we find extras in the Histories of Middle-earth.
Varda Valar: The Salmar article would have been about one line from the Silmarillion, but turned into a big, fascinating one by digging into those. :-)
Arien V (AriehnV) has left the room.
marigoldthebrave: Ah yes...the histories.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Ever so contradictory by nature ;-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Which just means, bigger articles!
Varda Valar: And yet amazingly helpful to fill in holes. :-)
Varda Valar: Right. We can mention the way the stories change, the reason for those contradictions. The ideas evolved in JRRT's notes for us to enjoy.
Varda Valar: Interestingly enough, the real Marigold just came back from feeding ducks, something the book Marigold might actually have done.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Shows how the name fits!
Varda Valar: Aye :-)
Varda Valar: Unless someone has another topic or a bit more to add...?
marigoldthebrave: I've nothing more to add...besides a commitment to dive a little deeper into the appendixes!
Ar-Pharazon-V: And the histories!
Varda Valar: *grabs for a sparkly hammer coming over the conveyor belt from Aule's apprentices*
Varda Valar: *in the air, the hammer flies out into a gentle rain of sparkler sparks, making everything they touch seem shiny for fifteen minutes*

Varda Valar: After-meeting!
Varda Valar: Free chat  :-)
marigoldthebrave: Ooh what happens in free chat!?
Varda Valar: You may chat about anything together. Personal gaming chat also.
Ar-Pharazon-V: At some point I relate my personal gaming experiences from the past week, but basically it's just whatever you want :-)
Arien V (AriehnV) has entered the room.
Varda Valar: No structure.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiyata Arien!
Varda Valar: Welcome back, Sunshine. :-)
Arien V: thankies ^^ something kicked me here ^^]
Varda Valar: Hi from Fangorn, Sauron, and Bilbo on this side of the screen.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya to them!
Varda Valar: Bill the Pony being mischievous?
Arien V: Aiya to them and aye sounds like it
Varda Valar: ^^
Arien V: somebody got an apple for hm?
Varda Valar: *tosses a bright red apple to Arien*
Arien V: *offers apple to Bill the pony*
Arien V: now where were we?
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aftermeeting!
Varda Valar: Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the upcoming week in the USA and to the Canadians who already had theirs. :-)
Varda Valar: You can talk about anything at all now. :-)
Varda Valar: Tried to invite Elladan at the start of the meeting, didn't seem to happen. Trying again
Arien V: Oh right :-) thankies then^^
Ar-Pharazon-V: Happy Thanksgiving etc! I'm sure other countries have holidays around this time as well.
Varda Valar: Calvin Coolidge:
Varda Valar: http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=72451
Arien V: little note to gaming news while i was somehow absent during the gaming section .. The Guardian has reached 85 and i unlocked some bits in Hybold .. stables and some npcs in the mead hall .. and started questing in Wilderland now :)# [Note: LotRO]
Ar-Pharazon-V: It's less than 100 years old? Did not expect that.
Varda Valar: Grats Arien!
Ar-Pharazon-V: And grats, Arien :-)
Arien V: :-)
Varda Valar: Sometimes we just leave this channel open
Ar-Pharazon-V: People can still drop by post-meeting.
Eonwe Valar: OK ladies and gents, that's it for me.
Eonwe Valar: Take care all, good night, sleep well, and have fun :}
Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie!
Varda Valar: Namarie
Eonwe Valar (Eonwe Valar) has left the room.
Varda Valar: I'm going to pop in and out of the chat room to see if it lets Elladan in.
Varda Valar (VardaValar1) has left the room.
Varda Valar (VardaValar1) has entered the room.
Elladan-V (Scott92027) has entered the room.
Elladan-V: Aiya!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Aiya! And Aiyata to Varda! I guess that worked.
Elladan-V: I want a stroopwafel!
Ar-Pharazon-V: I already had one earlier :-D
Elladan-V: argh!
Varda Valar: You made it!
Varda Valar: Aiya :-)
Arien V: Aiya :-) and aiyata
Elladan-V: I did!
Elladan-V: looking at homes right now
Elladan-V: sad to be leaving Florida, but embracing a new start as well
Arien V: where are u moving?
Elladan-V: Morristown, Tennessee
Elladan-V: from Jupiter, Florida (Palm Beach county)
Ar-Pharazon-V: I thought generally people moved *to* Florida.
Elladan-V: I did
Elladan-V: 15 years ago.
Elladan-V: Time to go :-)
Arien V: blown away the last time eh?
Elladan-V: ?
Varda Valar: Wasn't part of Florida ok?
Elladan-V: yeah this last one was nothing. I've been through 5 hurricanes I think
Varda Valar: Here's hoping you find a home with a great internet connection. :-)
Elladan-V: They don't bother me.... more the terrain and the people. Flat terrain, and I dunno. It's just lost its appeal
Elladan-V: Found a nice little one with lake views as well as mountain views
Arien V: uh i feel with you .. let me show you something :-)
Varda Valar: Sounds lovely :-)
Arien V: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=705905929565139&set=pcb.705907956231603&type=3&theater
Arien V: Bruce , my fiance took that this afternoon :-)
Elladan-V: nice! A bit cold for me, but nice!
Arien V: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=705905929565139&set=pcb.705907956231603&type=3&theater
Arien V: This one is even more impressive :-)
Arien V: Good luck in your new place and good luck with the move and all ^^
Elladan-V: Haven't gotten one yet. And I still have to fix mine up a bit and put it on the market :-)
Elladan-V: thanks though :-)
Arien V: time for bed for me tho :?
Arien V: Namarie for now :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie, then!
Varda Valar: Namarie!
Ar-Pharazon-V: I'll start on my personal gaming, I guess!
Arien V (AriehnV) has left the room.
Elladan-V: Namarie! And I am going to finish this exercise before TWD comes on. Making a monster slayer game/app lol.
Varda Valar: Places actually around Arien. Does look chilly, but wow.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Good luck!
Varda Valar: Sounds interesting
Elladan-V: It's nothing special. Just practice to reinforce what I'm learning :-) Night everyone! Namarie! Welcome Marigold!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Namarie!
Elladan-V (Scott92027) has left the room.
marigoldthebrave: I'm heading out too - namarie!
marigoldthebrave has left the room.

Ar-Pharazon-V: For flashgaming, many choices this week, but I've settled on 3!
Ar-Pharazon-V: http://www.kongregate.com/games/mrsneeze/colourshift is the first one! A puzzle game where you have to bend pipes and blend colors to get the right color to the right receiver.
Ar-Pharazon-V: http://www.kongregate.com/games/esthetix/save-the-clock-tower is another one of those short point-and-click games from the same series I've linked many times before. This time you play an activist trying to save the clock tower, but need to get money to print the flyers. Fun Back to the Future reference in there as well... which doesn't bode well for the tower in question ;-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: If I remember the movie right.
Varda Valar: Namarie Marigold :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: And Namarie to Marigold!
Ar-Pharazon-V: http://www.kongregate.com/games/the_exp/farm-tiles is the third! A sort of upgrade, almost idle game where you have to grow crops, feed livestock, and process everything, while upgrading your farm, to finally get a single picnic basket together. That is one very expensive picnic!

Ar-Pharazon-V: Now, blizzard gaming
Ar-Pharazon-V: Hearthstone: Caught up all my classes nicely, nearing the next level. This week's brawl was a heroic arena type of thing, and I don't like arena (this one's also a lot more expensive) so I didn't go for it. No free pack involved anyway. I hope it won't be just this from now on.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Heroes of the Storm: Started the Nexus Challenge myself, working on 30 games with a friend. Got 9 done so far, 30 before January should be no problem. Even got a bit of practice with the cooperative hero Cho'gall too, which requires a  party to use, so this is the right time for it!
Ar-Pharazon-V: The current brawl is an attack/defend brawl, where one team tries to get ammunition to active cannons to blow up a pirate ship, while the other team tries to defend the ship by taking out the enemy players before they can use the cannons. Goal is to either take out the ship, or take out the enemy core by protecting the ship.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Matches are short, since the ship takes less than 5 minutes to arrive. In the 3 matches I've played, I was defending the ship every time, so haven't seen it from the other side, but I've got a pretty good idea how it works. And yet another portrait reward for me from 3 games :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: WoW:
Ar-Pharazon-V: Got the anniversary pet 3 times, with several alts, fun team of Corgis :-) The daily lore quest is fun too, I wish I could continue answering questions even after answering one correctly. But that's what alts are for!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Got 6 out of 7 bosses down in Heroic Emerald Nightmare, didn't have time for the 7th. Also had a few more attempts at Odyn, but it's quite difficult on Heroic mode.
Ar-Pharazon-V: New pet from Ulduar! A sentinel from the iron council, that occasionally has an electric effect. Quite fun.
Ar-Pharazon-V: This week's weekly quest was 10 arena skirmishes, which was quite difficult, but I did manage to complete it after way too many hours, it feels... did make it to honor level 10 in the process, which means a lot more honor talents available.
Ar-Pharazon-V: Appearance hunting: Bit slow, but did manage to bring down the missing items from Ahn'Qiraj to one, from the last boss. So I can skip the rest.
Ar-Pharazon-V: In Molten Core I got the last item I wanted from Ragnaros, so I can skip him too, and stop after Executus. So it all saves some time!
Ar-Pharazon-V: And I got my last piece, the chestpiece, from the tier 2 druid set, from Nefarian, which was the only piece I'd been missing. So that set is now featured in my class hall as well, together with tier 1 and 2.5 :-)
Ar-Pharazon-V: Quest-wise I've made some good progress too, clearing a lot of what I was still missing in Highmountain, including some side quests. I also got some hidden achievements: the drum circle achievement in Thunder Totem, and the snail racing achievement in the Grotto.
Ar-Pharazon-V: For that, I got yet another pet: Zoom, the racing snail!
Ar-Pharazon-V: Only a few more sidequests and one more storyline before I finish that zone. So I hope to be able to move on to Val'sharah later in the week.
Ar-Pharazon-V: And that's my report for this week!
Disconnected.
Ar-Pharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.

Varda Valar: Nope
