ArPharazonV: Varda's not here this week. We were putting Arien in charge, but she seems to have run afoul of some internet trouble. Dropped from AIM and from bnet.
scott92027: gotta get to the store before they close :-)
scott92027: be back soon
scott92027: oh dear
ArPharazonV: I'm trying to give her time, but fear I shall have to resort to hosting at least the business part of this meeting ;-)

Gaming:
LotRO:
AriehnV: As for gaming news there was a new patch released last monday
AriehnV: Patch notes can be found here:
AriehnV: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?594805-Update-17-2-Release-Notes
AriehnV: as a main thing new quests have been added in Minas Tirith as well as some stable options .. I haven't seen them myself yet since i have no level 100 yet ^^

AriehnV: concerning Blizzard games there have been some hotfixes on wow
AriehnV: A fix with the Gory of Pnadaria Raider , or rather an adjustment
AriehnV: details can be found here
AriehnV: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/19991705/patch-623-hotfixes-january-6-20-1-20-2016
ArPharazonV: I'd seen that, but not looked at which achievement it actually was.
ArPharazonV: Looks to be one of the achievements that required a full raid, so it's kinda understandable.

AriehnV: Diablo 3 has got a new blog on the forum about the damage numbers which can be found here:
AriehnV: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/19996041/engineering-diablo-iiis-damage-numbers-1-22-2016

AriehnV: Heroes of the storm has some things coming up like skins and mounts
AriehnV: and details can be found here
AriehnV: http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/blog/19996517/heroes-of-the-storm-balance-update-notes-january-2 0-2016-1-20-2016
ArPharazonV: And 2 new heroes!
AriehnV: very nice :-)
AriehnV: you know more about that then i do
ArPharazonV: Necromancer and Wizard have been announced, both taken from the Diablo franchise. Well, it's also in the blog :-)
ArPharazonV: http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/blog/19993882/in-development-upcoming-heroes-skins-and-mounts-1-22-2016 is the correct article, by the way ;-)
AriehnV: :-)

AriehnV: personal gaming .. I am still quite active in Rift these days
AriehnV: thats probably why you havent seen me on bnet Phari
ArPharazonV: Probably!
AriehnV: right .. this brings the official gaming news to an end
AriehnV: do you have a wish or proposall for Tolkien time? :-)
ArPharazonV: Not me.
scott92027: Back!
ArPharazonV: Maybe Elladan does!
scott92027: not I
AriehnV: Aiyata Ellada:-)
scott92027: hah! Aiya!
top

AriehnV: any proposals for a Tolkien topic?
scott92027: nothing I can think of
scott92027: my brain is a bit fried today. Apologies
AriehnV: fried eh? .. fried brain was as far as I know not on the Middlearth menu ;-)
AriehnV: Maybe we can talk about what food was available though I think .. and drinks *nods* ,
ArPharazonV: hmm.. brains...
AriehnV: well yes we know ghouls eat that my dear but thats another univers ;-)
AriehnV: We have meat, grain and fruit .. fish i think
ArPharazonV: Potatoes.
ArPharazonV: Other vegetables.
AriehnV: and Potatoes of course and other vegetables , indeed.
ArPharazonV: As for drink, we've got wine, beer, water...
AriehnV: Waybread .. both elven and human variations
ArPharazonV: Lembas bread!
AriehnV: Cram from the Dale men and Lembas from the Elves, indeed
ArPharazonV: Cram, that's the word I couldn't think of. I knew it was present in one of the videogames.
AriehnV: We have Strawberries and grapes in the shire , at least those are mentioned in the book
AriehnV: Grain especially in Tookland if i remember right
ArPharazonV: Mushrooms. Can't forget the mushrooms.
perseid28: also, the alcoholic substance the Orcs provide to Merry and Pippin
perseid28: though that may be more medicinal than a proper drink
ArPharazonV: We know some mushrooms being grown on Farmer Maggot's farm, in the fields west of the Brandywine.
AriehnV: Cabbages as well i believe
AriehnV: i am not sure though whether thats the movie only .. we see Merry and Pippin lifting cabbages and carrots from Farmer Maggot's fields
ArPharazonV: Movie only, I think. Pippin travelled with the party from Bag End and Merry came to meet them on the way to the ferry.
ArPharazonV: In the book I only remember the mushrooms, and Frodo's history of stealing them.
ArPharazonV: But yes, in the movie, Merry and Pippin made a point of habitually visiting the farm ;-)
AriehnV: yup true
AriehnV: quite entertaining value and imaginable , which is probably why it was introduced ^^
ArPharazonV: and it saves time in bringing the party together
AriehnV: right and you are right Lenwe about the orcish medicine applied to Merry and Pippin after they are abducted
ArPharazonV: I don't think a long stretch of 3 hobbits visiting the farm, having a meal with the farmer, and finally running into Merry in the fog would've fit the pace of the movie very much.
AriehnV: we know that Mordor had some Weat fields in the south
AriehnV: Probably cattle as well i would imagine as meat suppliers and hides for armor
ArPharazonV: The orcs liked their meat, yes. I can't imagine them having a diet on grains. [Note: orcs complained about too much maggoty bread and not enough meat.]
ArPharazonV: Of course they might eat each other in a pinch, but that doesn't sound viable on the long term.
AriehnV: And we spoke the last time about battles mentioned in the Lord of the Rings but meals and food played an important role too.
AriehnV: and indeed Phari ^^
AriehnV: and the Hobbit as well
AriehnV: Maybe we can piece the meals and feasts specifically mentioned in those two books?
ArPharazonV: Hmm.
ArPharazonV: If we start at the beginning, we have the big feast when the Dwarves come to visit Bilbo for the first time.
ArPharazonV: I remember a lot of cakes being mentioned!
AriehnV: oh yes and other specifications of Bilbo's Larder hehe
AriehnV: the dwarves seemed to be familiar with its content . makes me wonder whether a "Bird" told them about it to make the dwarves go and see the famed "burglar" at least for food sake if not for his "proficiency*
AriehnV: a "bird with a grey hat" to be specific
ArPharazonV: hehe
AriehnV: then we have as next meal mentioned .. uhm the trolls discussing food in the wild i believe :-)_
ArPharazonV: "Visit door with symbol for possible burglar, and guaranteed meal."
ArPharazonV: Yes, sounds about right.
ArPharazonV: Discussing the best way to eat a dwarf and a burrahobbit :-)
ArPharazonV: Next would be Rivendell, or was there no meal mentioned?
AriehnV: "mutton yesterday, mutton today and the sun take me if not mutton again tomorrow" or something like that :-) and yes hehe , twelves dwarf and a burrahobbit to be exact
ArPharazonV: Ah, yes, mutton.
ArPharazonV: Makes me wonder where they got the sheep from.
AriehnV: Rivendell would be the next
AriehnV: and maybe Breeland or Rivendell outskirts?
AriehnV: After that its the Woodelves feast in Mirkwood I believe
ArPharazonV: Nope, one thing inbetween.
ArPharazonV: And that is Beorn's house :-)
AriehnV: ah yes Beorn :-)
AriehnV: true , i nearly forgot
ArPharazonV: With a new ingredient we haven't mentioned yet:
ArPharazonV: Honey!
AriehnV: yummy :-) i think the hobbits liked that
ArPharazonV: They were hobbits, it's tough to find food they don't like ;-)
ArPharazonV: Dwarves might not trust stuff from bees, though.
AriehnV: okay Dale is the next stop for our heroes to get something decent was Dale
ArPharazonV: Messes up the beard, for one thing.
AriehnV: hehe yep they didnt have problems with messing them up with Beer drinking contests ^^
AriehnV: I also think thats the last meal mentioned in the hobbit
ArPharazonV: The welcome feast at Dale.. probably. I don't remember anything at Erebor.
ArPharazonV: They still must've eaten, though.
AriehnV: oh no i forgot Gandalf and Bilbo stopped at the Prancing Pony
AriehnV: Right then Lord of the Rings is easier :-)
ArPharazonV: We start once again at Bag End, with a massive party.
AriehnV: Indeed
AriehnV: The mushroom meal at Farmer Maggot next
ArPharazonV: I think a meal was mentioned on Frodo's birthday before they set out from Bag End.
AriehnV: yep true
ArPharazonV: Then the big meal with the Elves they met along the way.
AriehnV: yes
ArPharazonV: Also much delicious food, there! I recall they had something like mead there?
AriehnV: I think so yes
AriehnV: Farmer Maggot and at Frodo's house :-)
ArPharazonV: More mushrooms!
AriehnV: After that the next meal mentioned is at Tom Bombadil's house
ArPharazonV: And then the next one would be at Bree?
AriehnV: That's right
AriehnV: Then we have a campsite fire at Weathertop
ArPharazonV: "Put it out, you fools!"
ArPharazonV: Right, that line was movie ;-)
AriehnV: and Rivendell after that - the feast to celebrate the victory at the Ford and Frodo's recovery
ArPharazonV: Where a lot of characters were introduced, as I recall.
AriehnV: indeed
AriehnV: Gimli , Gloin, Legolas, Boromir
ArPharazonV: Arwen.
AriehnV: yep
AriehnV: Elladan and Elrohir as well
AriehnV: and Eomer
ArPharazonV: Couple of other elf nobles.
ArPharazonV: Eomer?
AriehnV: bleh not Eomer
ArPharazonV: That would've been a sight.
AriehnV: hehe true ^^
AriehnV: Elrond ^facepalms*
AriehnV: well .. starts with an E as wel ;-)
ArPharazonV: Close enough :-)
AriehnV: *rushes on to a spoiled campfire soon after leaving Rivendell since crows were spotted*
AriehnV: after that it is the food the Elves bring to the party in Lothlorien , at Cerin Amroth i believe
AriehnV: or at least near there
ArPharazonV: That's where the lembas bread starts.
ArPharazonV: Or did they get those in Rivendell?
AriehnV: nope
AriehnV: as goft from Galadriel
AriehnV: as gift even
ArPharazonV: Right, thought so.
AriehnV: .. Let us see the next meal mentioned is the meal in Edoras of the three Hunters and the White Wizard .. and Merry and Pippin eating Lembas after their escape on the Edge of Fangorn
AriehnV: Frodo and Sam resting on the edge of the grey mountains
AriehnV: oh no Frodo and Sam got some food from Faramir in fact at Henneth Annun
ArPharazonV: Don't forget the rabbit stew in Ithilien :-)
AriehnV: oh yes true :-)
AriehnV: We have Pippin getting his rations in Minas Tirith
AriehnV: first the extra one in Beregond's company , then Gandalf bringing him his share
ArPharazonV: Frodo and Sam figuring out they don't have enough lembas for a return trip.. or was that movie only?
AriehnV: no thats in the book as well
AriehnV: but i forgot between Helm's Deep and the Rohirim leaving for Minas Tirith Merry and Pippin getting "men food " from flotsam in Isengard ^^
ArPharazonV: Ah yes, plundering the stores.
AriehnV: yup[
AriehnV: the last one i recall Is the hobbits trying to get food in the Shire just before they reach Hobbiton
ArPharazonV: I don't remember that. Is it before the battle of Bywater?
AriehnV: and .. yes skipped one again Pippin waking up in the Houses of Healing at dinner time and yes just before that
AriehnV: they ask for a meal and get told that all the inns are closed now , they simply get it from the guard house but the shirriffs tell them " it is forbidden*
AriehnV: And that I think closes our topic for today right bang on time :D#
AriehnV: Amazing what you can make of "fried brains" ^^
ArPharazonV: hehe
ArPharazonV: What would've been the closest meal to that?
ArPharazonV: Anything by Smaug?
AriehnV: .. picks "frying pan from Yavannes kitchen* .. , choses meat hammer from Tulkas as gavel and swings ...#
AriehnV: both connect and ... donggg!
ArPharazonV: Suddenly, a meal appears.
top

AriehnV: Aftermeeting!
AriehnV: what is it?
ArPharazonV: I mean, from the connection of Valar frying pan and Valar meat hammer :-)
AriehnV: hehehe aye so i gathered?
AriehnV: but i wonder what kind of meal would originate from such a connection?
ArPharazonV: Ah.
ArPharazonV: Could be anything really, but between those two, fried meats are the obvious choice.
ArPharazonV: I'm not sure if Yavanna would be fond of vegetables, or would feel sympathy for it instead.

ArPharazonV: Well! Shall I start my personal gaming section?
ArPharazonV: For flashgames I'll give 2 games.
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Rob_Almighty/bad-viking-and-the-curse-of-the-mushroom-king this one's a point-and-click adventure where you have to gather ingredients to lift a curse. Prepare to do some looking around and hopeful clicking around to get the items you need. A bit short, unless you have no idea what to do, in which case it could take rather longer ;-)
ArPharazonV: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/basket_and_ball is a basketball physics/platformer thingy that requires you to move the ball into the basket past some obstacles. Can be tricky.

ArPharazonV: Now! Blizzard games.
ArPharazonV: Bit more Hearthstone this week, coming close to getting some classes to the next level. Nothing special accomplished. This week's tavern brawl was an old one where you got a deck full of pirates and every turn you could choose a random card for your class. Can easily be done with any classes, which is nice, and you don't need a specific collection to give you an advantage.
ArPharazonV: Heroes of the Storm: Did a bit more levelling. I established a bit of a system to make my mind up of what heroes I wanna play for certain quests, and in doing so, levelled a few heroes this week, unlocking a new skin for Lunara.
ArPharazonV: Diablo 3: Got my seasonal crusader to 42. Still not doing as well as I'd hoped, but I did finish season journey chapter 1 and most of chapter 2. Next step will be getting her to 60.
AriehnV: sounds great :-)
AriehnV: i like the way the new damage is displayed and stacked and the spells seem to have better graphics
ArPharazonV: The build I set up for her last week, focusing on holy damage and fast attack speed, is really working out so far, and I've already gained a few useful legendary items, which of course will be redundant in a few levels. I changed to a higher difficulty and am still killing things rapidly, so maybe I should increase it more ;-)
ArPharazonV: Well I hadn't tried the crusader before, so not sure what her spells used to look like. But things do seem a bit clearer and cleaner, yes.
ArPharazonV: And I did notice the new display for ability durations.
ArPharazonV: WoW:
ArPharazonV: Actually killed Archimonde on heroic difficulty twice this week. First on tuesday in the previous reset, then again today in this reset. No new loot, but it does give me hopes that we're finally getting it under control a bit. We've killed him three times total now, and gotten nearly every regular raider their unique Grove Warden (flying moose!) mount as a reward.
ArPharazonV: No new loot for me personally that is. But just a matter of time!
AriehnV: congrats :-)
ArPharazonV: I've finished my pet fighting in Tanaan, after getting the fourth pet from the reward bags, the Periwinkle Calf. Cute pet, and if you give him a magical biscuit he's the same size as my character in petform ;-) Now I have no more need to fight all those legendary pets daily, which should save me nearly an hour of free time every day.
ArPharazonV: I've been going through the Highmaul Coliseum a bunch of times. It's not as dead as I said last week, you just need to be there earlier in the evening because it really dies down after about midnight.
ArPharazonV: Gotten second place a few times, but haven't won yet. I am, however, trying to organize some pre-made groups with people I raid with, so we can keep ourselves the last ones alive. Hasn't worked yet, but I'm sure we'll get there with practice.
ArPharazonV: I'm also continuing the Nemesis quests, and have finished the quest to kill 500 trolls in pvp. Next target will be blood elves, who should go fast, because they're commonly played. I'm saving goblin and pandaren for the end, and I think those will take a lot longer.
ArPharazonV: Oh, and I did the weekly stranglethorn fishing contest again today. I need second place for the reward I want, which I missed today by less than 10 seconds or so, very unlucky. But that just gives me an excuse to join again next week!
ArPharazonV: Oh, and I meant my character in catform, not petform.
ArPharazonV: Right, I think that's my news for the week!
AriehnV: All right :-) thank you very much
AriehnV: have a good night now and get some rest :-)
AriehnV: I will do so as well
AriehnV: Namarie!
ArPharazonV: Namarie, then!
AriehnV has left the room.
perseid28 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
