VardaValar1: Aiya
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
AriehnV has entered the room.
AriehnV: Aiya all :-)
VardaValar1: Aiya Arien :-)
VardaValar1: Trying to put up a Denethor page, a bit too slow.
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
AriehnV: its all right , take your time :-)
AriehnV: Aiya Phara
VardaValar1: Invitations made
VardaValar1: Rough version up, not linked in yet, but the page itself is online.

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: We have three new members as of yesterday.
VardaValar1: All are from LotRO, transferring in to our server from
other servers and looking for a home. All had insightful comments
during the LotRO entry test.
VardaValar1: We passed over a lot of people looking for kins and some
didn't make the cut, but these three I'm proud to present to you. :-)
VardaValar1: Anarion-(V) from Alberta, Canada. A stand-out character for him was Gimli, and another was Bombadil.
VardaValar1: Bregalad-(V). His
stand-out character was Meriadoc for being faithful, adventurous when
needed, cleverly organizing the Conspiracy, and Rider of Rohan.
VardaValar1: Cirdan-(V). His
stand-out character was Gandalf for having secret knowledge. He's a
frail old man but the most powerful member of the Fellowship.
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
ArPharazonV: So.. ABC?
VardaValar1: Oddly, it so happens. Not on purpose. Wonder if our next member will start with D? :-)
AriehnV: welcome to all three ! welcome Anarion-V, Bregalad - V and Cirdan - V
VardaValar1: They all worked hard at coming up with names, as everyone else can remember doing too. :-)

VardaValar1: Web:
Tolkien Site / Art:
VardaValar1: The Bohemian Weasel-(T) has more for us:
ArPharazonV: Welcome to all, yes!
VardaValar1: "Gondor's finest". Denethor's memory of Boromir
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Boromir/soni-topps-lotrm2-218_Boromir_Gondors_finest.jpg
VardaValar1: Two pictures of Denethor, the page barely up a few minutes
ago and not linked in, so you get to see it before anyone else. :-)
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Denethor/Denethor.htm
VardaValar1: "Denethor grieves". He's holding Boromir's horn and using his grief to pull info from Pippin if not Gandalf.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Denethor/soni-topps-lotrm2-304_Denethor_grieves.jpg
AriehnV: Awesome pictures :-)
VardaValar1: Both are professional, done for cards.

VardaValar1: Eonwe has more for us. Thanks!

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Here's Eonwe's news:
VardaValar1: World of Warcraft:
VardaValar1: Check out the preview and the PTR patch notes for patch 6.2.3.
VardaValar1: As usual, don't miss the latest hotfixes.
VardaValar1: StarCraft 2:
VardaValar1: A new patch is out: Patch 3.0.1.
VardaValar1: New short story: Children of the Void.
VardaValar1: (You want that one, Phar?)
ArPharazonV: sure :D
VardaValar1: The Legacy of the Void launch patch is on the background downloader.
VardaValar1: See the latest beta balance updates.
VardaValar1: Here's a new one:
VardaValar1: Overwatch:
VardaValar1: For those interested in Overwatch, Blizzard has announced the beta begins October 27th.
VardaValar1: LotRO news from me:
VardaValar1: We had a couple of patches this week, not too terribly long to download.
VardaValar1: We had a fair number of free world transfers, so the
people flooding in from closing servers to our Landroval is quite large.
ArPharazonV: (WoW: hallow's end starting today)
VardaValar1: After all the world transfers are mostly done, the info
from the remaining servers will be transferred to new hardware, much
more memory.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar :-)
VardaValar1: Good to know
VardaValar1: Any other general gaming news?
AriehnV: *shakes head*

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: Before I mention a topic, did anyone else have a topic, or other business that you'd like to mention?
VardaValar1: In the LotR times, life was rough and scary. But some folk
continued looking forward to a future and tried to build that future.
Can we think of any of those examples?
ArPharazonV: Hobbits come to mind, at the start. They were so working
on their happy future that they hardly noticed anything going on
outside.
VardaValar1: True!
ArPharazonV: Similar for Bombadil, I suppose :-)
VardaValar1: The rangers worked to defend them to allow the hobbits to
build a peaceful future. These were the last of the inhabitants of the
land of the High King, so they felt a duty to them.
VardaValar1: Bombadil. He did work for his own area, maybe trusting to
the Istari and others to keep up their end of things outside.
VardaValar1: Rangers also worked towards the future. They kept up the
work of the High King, who was also their Chieftain, and hoped for the
eventual rise again of the combined kingdom of north and south.
VardaValar1: Aragorn, being that chieftain of the prophecy, was a major force in trying to bring about a new, better world.
VardaValar1: He could not do it alone, and Sauron had to be halted for any world to exist that free people could live in.
ArPharazonV: Sauron worked on a future!
VardaValar1: Gilraen. She gave the world hope while keeping none for herself.
VardaValar1: True. :-)
ArPharazonV: And a glorious future it was, under his domination.
ArPharazonV: It just wasn't very good.
VardaValar1: Fine for Sauron, not pleasant for anyone else.
ArPharazonV: Pretty much.
ArPharazonV: Orcs might like it, for a while.
ArPharazonV: And then they run out of enemies.
VardaValar1: Orcs wanted to slip away and make their own bandit bands.
VardaValar1: They weren't happy under Sauron's rule either.
VardaValar1: Hey, can always turn on the competition.
VardaValar1: Too much of the profit was being taken out of their hands
when they did Sauron's work. Don't spoil the hobbits that you must
capture, as they have something Sauron wants for the war.
VardaValar1: If they weren't so afraid of Sauron, that would have sent them in a scramble to see what the hobbits had.
AriehnV: huh hobbits free and lighthearted .. that wasnt a prospect even Saruman didnt like ^^
VardaValar1: Can't have that!
VardaValar1: Barliman Butterbur worked for the prosperity of his inn.
AriehnV: i mean they had been a sort of nuisance for Sauron .. they had fought for Arnor against him didnt they?
VardaValar1: Yes, they did. And the hobbits were the only ones in the north still loyal to the King.
VardaValar1: Even if he didn't seem to be around.
VardaValar1: The Istari worked at least at first for a better world, as advisors to the free people.
VardaValar1: Everyone that came to the impromptu Council of Elrond worked for a better world.
VardaValar1: Elrond realized the Council had been called by "someone", although he hadn't done it.
ArPharazonV: Elrond himself worked on a future of sorts, though he knew he would not be much of a part of it.
VardaValar1: A huge dovetailing of coincidences.
VardaValar1: Aye. Elrond had a great store of knowledge that he allowed
younger races to learn from so Middle-earth would have a decent future.
VardaValar1: He also kept safe and educated future Ranger Chieftains,
who happened to be descendnts of his long-dead twin brother.
VardaValar1: *descendents
VardaValar1: The Fellowship worked for a future for the world, having
more potential for winning against Sauron than any other group.
ArPharazonV: Rohan and Gondor worked for a better future, by protecting the free lands from Sauron.
ArPharazonV: The ents worked for a future were not so many trees would be chopped down.
VardaValar1: True. Boromir was thinking more of their efforts than of
the Fellowship's efforts at first. Caught between two ways.
VardaValar1: Aye, ents put themselves in danger for the future. As Fangorn said, it could be the last march of the ents.
AriehnV: The hobbits of course again worked for a future in producing
children , tilling thelands and cultivating lots of fruit ..
strawberries and grapes i hear )
AriehnV: after the destruction of the ring
VardaValar1: True. The hobbits of the Fellowship all pitched into that future too.
AriehnV: Merry and Pippin and Sam as sort of kept watch for the King over the s Shire
ArPharazonV: Frodo oversaw the first few years as mayor.
VardaValar1: Right
VardaValar1: He also gave Sam and his family a place to stay. That surely helped Sam with his later duties as mayor also.
AriehnV: the woodelves worked for a future of sorts for themselves mainly I guess
VardaValar1: The wood elves also traded with men, not as isolated as they might seem.
AriehnV: Their King seems a bit selfish to me especially as he is
protrayed in "The Hobbit" .. probably mainly for economic reasons Varda
I think
VardaValar1: To the Dwarves, he seemed selfish. Mostly he tried to work
for the survival of his people. He turned aside to help the people of
Laketown in the book, just because they needed it.
AriehnV: personally i had the feeling they wanted to keep everyone out
of their kingdom and had their fill of dwarves and humans ( for which i
cant reallly blame them since the story with Nauglamir that was stolen
from him and the battles he was involved and betrayed .... i think in
the early third age that was)
ArPharazonV: (wrong sindar king)
VardaValar1: You have a point. Their interactions with humans was at a distance, not inside their own kingdom.
VardaValar1: Thingol
VardaValar1: They were from Thingol's people and would have remembered
that as one of their reasons to mistrust dwarves. And vice versa.
AriehnV: and yes he came to the aid of Dale because he still could feel
a bit pity i think or maybe because his advisors or s scouts or maybe
he was afraid desperate refugees could come to his gate and storm his
palace)
ArPharazonV: That last bit sounds a bit too much like current politics.
AriehnV: =-O .. yes indeed .. didnt mean it as such though
VardaValar1: What other folks were looking towards the future?
ArPharazonV: Galadriel was looking towards the future in more ways than one.
AriehnV: just playing a bit of the devils advocate here ^^ makes things a bit more interesting
AriehnV: well yes .. she had her mirror
AriehnV: so she saw bits and pieces
VardaValar1: Galadriel wanted to rule over Lorien but kept it to being
a Lady rather than Queen, because she wanted even more to be able to
return to Valinor. That kept her able to resist the offer of the One
Ring.
VardaValar1: How about Arwen?
ArPharazonV: Arwen... working.. *thinks*
ArPharazonV: she made the banner!
VardaValar1: She's looking forward towards Aragorn's reuniting the
kingdoms of Men and marrying him, rather than going to Valinor.
VardaValar1: Right, the banner meant everything that I typed out in a more succinct way. :-)
AriehnV: she made it for Aragorn to show to the dead who obviously saw
something in it .. that enabled the to fullfill their oath and "fight*
for him so he could be victorios and in time in Pelargir
VardaValar1: Right. It showed that he was the Heir of Isildur, the one they were waiting for.
AriehnV: I wonder whether it had some symbol woven in it that only they could see .. so some sort of Elven magic
VardaValar1: It had the symbol of the Heir of Isildur
AnarionV has entered the room.
AnarionV: Aiya
ArPharazonV: Some hidden ethereal script.
VardaValar1: Aiya Anarion :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya. You're showing as your email. Varda, beware when editing transcript :-)
VardaValar1: It wasn't hidden. Arwen made it so it could be seen by Men
VardaValar1: Aye, will do.
ArPharazonV: And welcome :-)
VardaValar1: For me, he's showing as Anarion House of Elendil
AnarionV: Yeah apparently new accounts all are named by their email
VardaValar1: We were about to wind down, glad you could make it!
VardaValar1: Now I see the email.
VardaValar1: Odd that it showed two ways.
VardaValar1: We were discussing how people of any kind showed hope or at least a plan for a future in LotR.
VardaValar1: Hobbits, Elves, Orcs, individuals
AriehnV: Aiya Anarion :-) and welcome to our illustrous company :-)
ArPharazonV: Dwarves! Fighting for the future of their mountain.
VardaValar1: Dain, working with the Men of Dale, defending the northern pass.
AnarionV: I've set up a local alias so I appear to myself as Anarion,
but yeah, I'm not sure how to fix me showing up as my email.
AriehnV: I see you in the chat as Anarion
VardaValar1: On the side list, you show up as Anarion House of Elendil, with part of Elendil cut off.
VardaValar1: Some of it is working at least. :-)
ArPharazonV: Showing as your email for me, both in chat as well as side
list. But that's just my version, and it will probably take an AIM
restart for me to change it. So.. next time ;-)
VardaValar1: I saved him as a buddy using his AIM username so he shows as Anarion House of Elendil in the buddy list
ArPharazonV: You saved him as his email, or..?
ArPharazonV: Eh, I'll get it right next time.
VardaValar1: The AIM name that came up is the Anarion version
VardaValar1: Had to save it as the AIM name in the buddy list. Try
deleting him from the buddy list and re-doing? Does he show as Anarion
on the right side listing chat participants?
ArPharazonV: he doesn't.
ArPharazonV: I could add him by his email but I don't think that would work.
VardaValar1: Ok - probably our version differences
AnarionV: Oh, interesting, when you save someone as a buddy in Pidgin at least, you can configure what they show up as to you
VardaValar1: We have several versions of the IM running. :-)
AnarionV: Now ArPharazon shows up as Ar-Pharazon to me
ArPharazonV: Hmm. Added you to buddylist with the email.. and you show up as the email. Yeah, that won't work.
VardaValar1: Congratulations for figuring out how to join us here!
AnarionV: Ah well, I forgot to do the time conversion properly
AnarionV: but now that's all put together
VardaValar1: In Pidgin, so that could complicate your program's using the AIM name?
AnarionV: Not sure
VardaValar1: Phar uses a very old version of AIM because it makes the best transcript.
AnarionV: Wow, so I'm looking up the name Ariehn, and all I come up with are the Valar Guild meeting transcripts
AnarionV: If I may ask, who are you?
VardaValar1: Right. The name Arien was already taken by another person
so she made something that sounds similar to join us. Similar to what
people do with character names in game.
AnarionV: Ahah
VardaValar1: Ariehn is Arien-(Valar), Phar is Ar-Pharazon-(V), I'm Varda-(Valar) that you know as Fainan and Timbridhil.
VardaValar1: You're Anarion-(V) to us
AnarionV: Right, the rest of that makes sense
VardaValar1: AIM has not been as cooperative as we'd like. :-)
VardaValar1: but has been the best for us so far. We've tried a number of systems.
AnarionV: So another newbie question while were at it: What's with the ranks (V) (MoV) and (Valar)
VardaValar1: Those are Tolkien Honor ranks.
AnarionV: Also (T)
AnarionV: What do they mean?
VardaValar1: You have a (V) as a Full Member. That means you passed the
LotR test for entry and showed to be a good person. That's a lot of
honor.
VardaValar1: Arien would have -(Valar) because of her Maia Honor.
VardaValar1: the Valar means the person can give Entry tests, a quick tag for that.
VardaValar1: MoH is a Member of Honor, meaning they are the child of a Full Member, and has had the LotR at least read to them.
AnarionV: Ok, neat
AnarionV: And T?
VardaValar1: My -(Valar) is for the Valar Honor rank. That honor lets a person test for Full Members, Maiar, and Valar.
AriehnV: it means *Tolien Member*
VardaValar1: The T is for members that only work with the Tolkien Site, no gaming.
AnarionV: Ah, ok. Sweet, thanks
VardaValar1: People move around in the Honors sometimes. We have a full Valar who moved to T, for instance.
AriehnV: Tolkien member even sorry J. R. R. * flarers appologetically*
VardaValar1: We do not show a different rank for Maia and Vala, but tend to use a name that shows it.
VardaValar1: Now now, Sunshine. :-) No spots on you.
AnarionV: The names are pretty recognizable :-)
VardaValar1: So Arien is a Maia Honor Member, and Varda is a Valar Honor Member.
VardaValar1: True if you're a Tolkien fan. To an outsider, the whole thing doesn't matter anyway.
ArPharazonV: Very pragmatic.
VardaValar1: Each Honor is a Tolkien Honor that has to be earned. Maia
and Vala are also folks that aided the overall guild, showed great
interest in keeping this guild running despite obstacles to the
contrary.
VardaValar1: Maia passes a tough, detailed LotR quiz. [Note: Maiar are
usually recommendations agreed on by other -Valar, and are considered
if they apply. One negative puts it off until the problem is resolved.]
VardaValar1: Vala has to do what a Maia does plus. Only the craziest need apply. [Note: full Valar also have to pass a tough Silmarillion quiz given by a panel of all available Valar Honor members.]
VardaValar1: Did that answer all the questions?
AnarionV: Absoultely
VardaValar1: So you see at a glance what that person can do to help you.
AnarionV: I'll arrive on time another day
AriehnV: so I as Maiar Honor have chosen a Maia name , Anarion
AnarionV: If only I could be so grossly incandescent
ArPharazonV: But you're still keeping the V :-)
AriehnV: i joines as Finduilas - T then Finduilas - V and after that Maia Test i became Arien V :-)
AriehnV: you know she was the Maia maiden who steered the boat of the Sun
VardaValar1: We do what we can in the program naming systems, but we know who we are. :-)
AnarionV: Yep, I try to look up people's names when I run across them
VardaValar1: Anarion was a great King of Gondor, pretty incandescent. :-)
AnarionV: A little backstory helps
VardaValar1: Agreed. Helps us interact. Much as the rp backstory in other kins but more stable.
VardaValar1: Arien in WoW is the same sunny lady as in GW2 or EVE or LotRO. :-)
AnarionV: Speaking of EVE, where are you guys set up?
VardaValar1: When we play different games, we still know who we're
talking with, our old friend from wherever that wrote or drew or made
music for the site.
VardaValar1: I see the Eve branch leader, not sure he's out of afk, maybe we can get you together.
AriehnV: if you play Eve there the Valar Channel Anarion
AriehnV: you can join that
VardaValar1: Valar is the channel in almost any game
AriehnV: on the interface system
ArPharazonV: easy to remember that one
AriehnV: the channel is called Valar Guild
AriehnV: hang on i ll log in
VardaValar1: Pallando is replying
AnarionV: Oh ok. I haven't played EVE for a while, it takes a lot of
time. I couldn't play both LOTRO and EVE at once, but I did find EVE
pretty interesting, and I'm aware of enough backstory that I can ask
about the current political situations
AriehnV: Patch
VardaValar1: hmm, something went wrong with the reply, not sure what. That's new
VardaValar1: Ok - I passed it on to him that you're not actually wanting to join in right now.
VardaValar1: At least AIM makes a good answering machine. :-)
AnarionV: ;-)
AriehnV: The System of the Valar Guild corporation is Trytedald IV, Moon 12
AriehnV: Branch Leader is Pallando Luneistar
AriehnV: or his main is Debes Sparre
VardaValar1: The Tolkien discussion earlier was about the way different individuals or groups tried to build a future. We were about done.
VardaValar1: If you would like to mention a few, we would be interested in your comments.
VardaValar1: If you'd rather not right now, we'll move on to After-meeting. :-)
AnarionV: I'm working on typing a wall :P
VardaValar1: Go for it. :-)
AnarionV: Well, I'm not so sure about individual example, but it seems
to me that most everyone in the books not directly working for Sauron
(and you could say that they were building a different sort of future)
had such plans, with the exception of only a few characters Dennethor
or Theodin for a while. The Dwarves generally tried to hold on to their
fortresses and hunker down, enjoying what was theirs). The Elves
generally maintained peace in their immediate vicinity before slowly
finishing up what they wanted of that part of their lives and then
going to a better place. I believe there was a major exception north of
Mordor, but I don't know a lot about that. The humans tried to hold
onto their homes, and even hope to destroy Sauron's forcers (if to
little avail).
ArPharazonV: Definitely not my version of AIM you're using, it'd never take a wall like that ;-)
VardaValar1: Pidgin. Makes me want to switch, almost. :-)
AnarionV: It seems to me that the majority of Freeps were mostly just
living out their life -> building weatlh, security, perhaps
happiness [Note: "freeps" is a gaming term in Lord of the Rings Online
LotRO for Free Peoples, as opposed to "creeps" for Creature Players in
PvMP "player versus monster player".]
ArPharazonV: Possibly the best thing you can do, as a commoner.
VardaValar1: Working together towards continuing their society in the face of Sauron. That would be a future too.
VardaValar1: Without their doing that, Aragorn would have nothing to take care of.
AnarionV: Exactly, We know most about their attempts to build security,
since the part of LOTR that doens't focus on the Ring focuses on the
war, but that isn't really what their societies seemed to revolve around
ArPharazonV: making sure there's a future to go back to after the war's over
ArPharazonV: Which makes the Scouring all the more tragic.
AnarionV: Indeed!
VardaValar1: True. One of the attractions of the stories is in the
various communities. The Shire, Lothlorien, The Last Homely House,
Minas Tirith of the seven levels, and so on
VardaValar1: Aye Phar
VardaValar1: The Hobbits of the Fellowship had been strengthened to
lead their own people to correct the wrongs at home. That means
Gandalf's mission succeeded there. :-)
AnarionV: Even so, the change in society that they made in order to
keep themselves safe meant that the "wrongs at home" weren't really
corrected though I think.
VardaValar1: Thranduil's silvan elves wanted to remain in Middle-earth, unless they had the misfortune to hear the Sea's call.
VardaValar1: What change in society are you thinking of?
AnarionV: I remember the end of the book mentioning a bit about the
fading of the races from middle earth, including how hobbits after that
time were even more aloof from Men, and their normal untrusting
attitude towards strangers, well.
VardaValar1: Aye, the hobbits mostly stayed out of sight of Men after Men took over, well after Aragorn's time.
ArPharazonV: So that's why we can't find em anymore.
VardaValar1: The Noldor elves left Middle-earth mostly
VardaValar1: A time came when Men weren't as kindly towards hobbits, so
they kept out of sight. Not living openly would cut down the available
habitat.
AnarionV: I guess then that wasn't really as much of a direct result of the Scouring
VardaValar1: The silvans were the main ones staying, and they seem to
be the main ones that had a faded away quality in Middle-earth I think.
Need to look that up in the books again. Thanks for making me think in
a different direction. :-)
VardaValar1: Aye, that was over a great length of time.
VardaValar1: After the Scouring, Aragorn declared the Shire off-limits to Men. He even stayed outside the border himself.
VardaValar1: The Hobbits would have had quite a long time of good
relations with Man, with Aragorn as High King, then his son Eldarion.
AnarionV: I didn't think the nations of men really stretched so far
north that Aragorn would have been able to make that decree, I'm
missing something
VardaValar1: May have been quite a few generations before they fell out of favor.
ArPharazonV: Aragorn claimed Arnor too. And the Shire fell under that.
VardaValar1: Aragorn was also the Chieftain of the Rangers of the North, which was the remnant of the Northern Kingdom of Arnor.
VardaValar1: He took care of the Shire because it was inside Arnor, and
the hobbits already recognized the King of Arnor, saying their Thane
was his representative.
AnarionV: Ah, right. But Bree and similar that aren't part of Rohan or the Rangers, I wonder
AnarionV: Ah, that makes sense
VardaValar1: Bree? That was a nifty place, part hobbit and part man before the War of the Ring.
VardaValar1: Bree was inside Arnor
AnarionV: Yes, but did they actually recognize an Arnorian government?
VardaValar1: The Rangers often came to Bree. Barliman mentions them.
VardaValar1: The hobbits saw no actual king outside the Shire, more a habit.
AnarionV: Barliman recognizes the existence of the rangers, but certainly doesn't ascribe to them authority
ArPharazonV: If the Shire was part of Arnor and recognized Aragorn as
king, Aragorn had full authority to keep people out of it, regardless
of the political status of its neighbours.
VardaValar1: When Aragorn became High King, they shifted quite easily into the new system, as Strider knew them well too.
VardaValar1: Aye Phar
ArPharazonV: The USA doesn't need to own Canada to keep people from crossing the border between them ;-)
VardaValar1: Aragorn was High King over the North and South Kingdoms. He didn't own Harad or that area.
AnarionV: I guess that's a good way of putting it, Bree may not really
recognize Arnor immediately (probably later) but the rangers would have
still been a lawkeeping force
AriehnV: ((sorry to interrupt this fascinating discussion but I have to
go to bed .. sun needs to rise not too late tomorrow despite being off
since the handyman will tidy up our garden and i have to put on some
washing which i didnt tonight ))
AnarionV: Indeed, I shouldn't stretch this out unnecessarily. So long!
AriehnV: ((so .. Namarie from me and have fun :-) ))
VardaValar1: Bree would have comfortably fallen in with Aragorn's style
and they found it amusing that Strider was drinking out of a golden cup
and all in Minas Tirith. as they put it.
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1: Namarie Arien!
VardaValar1: Arien and Ar-Pharazon are in Europe, so it's the wee hours for them.
VardaValar1: *picks up the latest gavel one of Aule's students dropped off in the shelf*
VardaValar1: *thwomp!*
VardaValar1: *repairs the table crack*
top
VardaValar1: After-meeting!
VardaValar1: Free chat. :-)
AriehnV: *sends golden ray acrosss the hammer and iron table to color it golden*
VardaValar1: Shiny!
AnarionV: Heh
AriehnV has left the room.
VardaValar1: At this point in the meeting, we no longer have particular
topics we attempt to stay inside, unless we want to continue for fun
(happens).
VardaValar1: We can talk about personal gaming, Sherman tanks, Tolkien, or whatever.
VardaValar1: We can let people go to bed or make supper or comment on what they're doing in-game.
ArPharazonV: I could almost talk about Sherman tanks, after watching the anime Girls und Panzer.
AnarionV: Oh man, I just watched that anime last weekend
ArPharazonV: Ooh, small world ;-)
AnarionV: Did you see the attack on titan movie?
ArPharazonV: I did not, no, sorry.
VardaValar1: Anarion, the gang here had a sneak preview of the newest art page.
AnarionV: Ooooh
VardaValar1: Not even linked into the main site yet, but will be soon.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Denethor/Denethor.htm
VardaValar1: The Bohemian Weasel-(T) lets us use a lot of art. The art
site illustrates the Tolkien Encyclopedia articles, so this is a big
deal as well as just plain fun.
AnarionV: Nice
VardaValar1: Those are two cards she made professionally
VardaValar1: afk
AnarionV: also afk, supper
ArPharazonV: Right. I'll do my personal gaming news, before I head off to do the new hallow's end dailies.
ArPharazonV: Flashgaming!
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Joliner/the-light-temple
is a platform puzzle game where you have to guide two characters at
once through a vertical maze in each level, hitting switches, removing
obstacles, and with one of them being immune to what the other is not.
ArPharazonV: Part of the FireBoy and WaterGirl series.
ArPharazonV: And for a much simpler (and more frustrating) game, which
coincidentally also works with using two sets of keys at the same time,
you get http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/impossible_horse
ArPharazonV: Which truly is multitasking, even with just 2 keys.
ArPharazonV: Enjoy those! Now, blizzard games.
ArPharazonV: Hearthstone: All
heroes to level 37 now! Onward to 38. Yet again playing around with
some slightly less basic decks for some classes, but still missing some
key cards for others. Still waiting for that second Lightning Storm for
shaman...
ArPharazonV: No new golden basic cards for 37, but there will be new
ones for 38. From 40 onwards, I think, each level will give a card.
ArPharazonV: Heroes of the Storm: Bought Pajamathur skin :-) Enjoying it a lot, with the train-locusts especially. No heroes levelled or bought this week.
ArPharazonV: Latest patch gave some UI upgrades, especially the loading
screen is nice to look at now, and you can tell in advance what
everyone's hero and level is.
ArPharazonV: Diablo 3: Moved on
to torment difficulty with my seasonal wizard, and got all the
keywardens for chapter 4 of the season journey. Only one objective to
go there, and it's a tough one: I need to get a level 70 legendary item
in every slot. But there are multiple ways to get those, so just a
matter of grinding them until something drops, and hope it's something
I don't have yet ;-)
ArPharazonV: WoW: Hallow's End started! New pets, new toys, and new garrison decoration stuff.
ArPharazonV: If you want them, though, better do a lot of daily quests for it.
ArPharazonV: I've gotten level 3 with my third bodyguard now, 2 to go.
I've also gotten Sha'tari defense reputation maxed out, and started on
Steamwheedle Preservation Society.
ArPharazonV: And tonight, our first heroic Xhul'horac kill in the raid-instance :-) 9 bosses down, 4 to go!
ArPharazonV: And that's my gaming news for the week!
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar :-)
ArPharazonV: Oh, just got the mount from the Pathrunner rare :-)
VardaValar1: Woot! Grats :-)
ArPharazonV: Thanks :-)
ArPharazonV: He was just wandering near the quest area for hallow's
end, and nobody else was interested, so ended up soloing him and
getting the mount.
VardaValar1: Convenient
VardaValar1: except maybe having to solo, but it guaranteed it was yours
VardaValar1: Computer's acting up, making "tock" sounds now and then.
ArPharazonV: Eh, level 93, not difficult.
VardaValar1: Good
ArPharazonV: "tock"... doesn't sound very good, isn't that hard drive failure?
ArPharazonV: Though mine does it too, few times a day, and some scans I made looked good.
AnarionV: Fan failure too, depending on the tock
VardaValar1: I hope not. So much on it.
ArPharazonV: I hope it's fan failure then!
VardaValar1: Just now and then.
VardaValar1: This is recent, in the last week.
VardaValar1: This is a heavily used machine, a bit of age on it.
AnarionV: yeah you might want to back up your most imporant files. ^^
VardaValar1: Agreed.
VardaValar1: The Denethor page is now hooked into our art site properly
VardaValar1: If you looked at it recently, it will need a reload, but the pics are the same.
ArPharazonV: Time for a heroes of the storm-match, so won't be talkative for a while.
VardaValar1: Go for it!
ArPharazonV: Will do!
VardaValar1: Pulling out of AIM for now. See you in the emails, Phar.
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1: Hoping to go to LotRO shortly.
ArPharazonV: have fun :-)
VardaValar1 has left the room.
AnarionV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
