VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: A star shines on the hour of our meeting!
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: Welcome back to Arien from a great vacation. Comiccon, woot!
AriehnV: thank you :-)
AriehnV: yes it was good fun indeed
VardaValar1: Pardon, was trying to find your Facebook pics.
VardaValar1: Can't believe how much stuff piled up on FB after your pics, aghh
VardaValar1: Arien is hunting the link for us now. :-)
AriehnV: i ll upload them to photobucket
AriehnV: and give you that link
AriehnV: just bear with me
VardaValar1: I found it!
VardaValar1: Ok, letting you have at it, then. :-)
VardaValar1: Arien was in Belfast at the Comiccon where she met some
very interesting people. Guess we'll let her off the hook for missing
the meeting last Sunday in that case. ;-)
ArPharazonV: Hmm, probably best, yes.
VardaValar1: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=956502364427262&set=pcb.956504621093703&ty pe=3&theater
AriehnV: http://s1313.photobucket.com/user/Kerinas1/library/?sort=3&page=1
VardaValar1: You can go through those - three pictures, with Arien shining in all of them.
VardaValar1: ahh, nice. Thanks!
AriehnV: theres some pics of our wee monsters Akira as well
AriehnV: the first pictures i think are from Guardians of the Galaxy,
then Darth Vader obviously and the third a warrior of House Barratrheon
i believe :-)
AriehnV: i am not entirely sure about that one
AriehnV: Game of Thrones anyway
ArPharazonV: Baratheon is the wolf, this looks like a... horse?
VardaValar1: Nice EVE Online shot (mining, I think?) and LotRO shots too.
AriehnV: aye Varda :-)
AriehnV: the big ship is an orca
ArPharazonV: Not sure which House carries the sigil of a horse.
AriehnV: and my wee Mining frigate gets really almost swallowed up by it
AriehnV: but carry on ^^
VardaValar1: and WoW shots.
VardaValar1: Thank you for sharing. Very nice.
AriehnV: :-)
VardaValar1: We have a new member, Marigold-(V)!
VardaValar1: She's a LotRO gamer, and has read the Hobbit, LotR, and
Silmarillion, and picked up BoLT 1&2 for reference mainly.
VardaValar1: She likes to write and sent us a poem from some years back since it fits the Tolkien Site. :-)
VardaValar1: She also does art. Not sure we can get a picture out of her though. We'll see...
ArPharazonV: Welcome Marigold!
VardaValar1: Lenwe-(V) scouted Marigold after gaming with her. Thanks!
VardaValar1: And thanks to Anarion-(V) who's in the meeting for scouting our new member Haldir-(V)!
ArPharazonV: Welcome Haldir!
AriehnV: Welcome Marigold :-)
AriehnV: and welcome Haldir :-)
VardaValar1: I believe we mentioned him last meeting, but it was After-meeting when he joined.
VardaValar1: Indis-(V), as you all know, has passed into the West.
VardaValar1: In LotRO, a number of kins that she was associated with, including ours, planned and did a memorial event for her.
VardaValar1: A YouTube of the event is in the process of being made. We will have that link for you when it's available.
AriehnV: I was at home on Saturday but remebered the start too late and didnt want to interrupt by coming in late
VardaValar1: We have unofficially named the cat at the elven docks of Celondim "Alasse" after her main.
VardaValar1: You would not have disrupted anything.
VardaValar1: Folks, please feel free to join any of our events at any point.
ArPharazonV: She was very involved with the community and the communication with the company as well, right?
VardaValar1: We had a long run of things we did, partly to accommodate conflicting hours.
ArPharazonV: I wouldn't be surprised if, if you push it hard enough, the cat might officially get the name.
VardaValar1: Aye, she was in several kins and was on the previous Players' Council.
VardaValar1: We have discussed it with the game developers.
VardaValar1: Too many other people also want this ability to name this
or that after a deceased loved one. All these names appear as if they
are quest parts and are misleading, being more of a hindrance than a
good memorial.
VardaValar1: We'd rather not have that sort of memorial.
VardaValar1: However, we're very big on unofficial stuff.
VardaValar1: The Landroval server was voted by the players to be the
unofficial rp server before it came out, the reason we took our kin
there. We were part of those voices.
VardaValar1: The game developers told us all the worlds were considered
a type of role-playing, so we would not have an offical RP server. That
was ok with us.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, you have a good point about the cat.
VardaValar1: Later on, they designated it the only RP-encouraged server, a special term used nowhere else. :-)
VardaValar1: So you never know. They might work something out of their own, if only because she was on the Players' Council.
VardaValar1: Remember in WoW after a Dev died, they made a hill in
Tauren lands into a memorial hill. A very rare thing to happen, but
fitting for that.
VardaValar1: Songs were specially made (abc files of known music) for the event. She was very well known, playing all the time.
AriehnV: they did a quest series to honor the memory of a brother of one of the main developers who died of cancer remember?
VardaValar1: The band included members of various kins in a group called the Remediators.
VardaValar1: That one I didn't know of. Thank you.
ArPharazonV: was that WoW or LotRO?
VardaValar1: Arien will have to answer that. :-)
VardaValar1: We ended up the event with another, less informal event,
going to the Cat-lady's house in Bree, where the band played outside
and we passed around drinks to hoist in Indis' honor.
VardaValar1: Bofur and Nob showed up for the main event. Indis brought
them to our guild. They now play mostly WoW so it was very special to
see them again.
VardaValar1: Arien, you had more about the event for the Dev's brother?
VardaValar1: I can see our LotRO Devs doing a quest bit for Indis, something they might be interested in doing.
VardaValar1: Or a general one for the many people fighting cancer.
VardaValar1: It's amazing how many people have been hit by that disease, how terrible it is.
VardaValar1: Seems like everyone's had a brush far too near to it.
ArPharazonV: I think it just becomes more common because we're better at wiping out other causes of death.
VardaValar1: So it might be something they can work with - not calling it by that name as they would not have known it then.
VardaValar1: A lot of young folk seem to be getting it too.
VardaValar1: but aye.
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
VardaValar1: I'll be traveling next week, but will have a laptop to check email
VardaValar1: I'll be back. :-)
VardaValar1: Should be in time for next meeting.
ArPharazonV: *pushes Arien forward as replacement host*
ArPharazonV: Ah, good :-)
VardaValar1: heh
top
VardaValar1: Web News:
VardaValar1: You may have noticed that the Valar Guild's forum has been acting up lately
VardaValar1: The Pro-board people are working on it. It's something affecting a number of other boards too.
VardaValar1: For the Tolkien Site,
VardaValar1: we have new poetry:
VardaValar1: "Frodo Baggins" by Marigold-(V)
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/poetry/FrodoBaggins.htm
VardaValar1: We have new art from the Bohemian Weasel-(T):
VardaValar1: "A vision of Barad-dūr"
ArPharazonV: Few lines give away that it's based on the movie rather than the book ;-)
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/places/Mordor/soni-topps-lo trm2-135_Barad-dur.jpg
VardaValar1: Aye, so it has (movie-based) at the top.
ArPharazonV: Ah, and *that* I didn't notice ;-)
VardaValar1: Good that you caught it too. She didn't tell me it was movie-based, but we can read it and see.
AriehnV: okay supplement to Pharis question .. sorry i missed that a bit distracted by rp
VardaValar1: She wrote it when she was a good bit younger, and she's 26 now.
AriehnV: yes it is a WoW quest chain
AriehnV: yes in Northrend the Argent Base on top of the hill ..
Crusader Bidenbrad dieing of the plague . you got to travel round to
get various boons to make stop his suffering nothing works and he goes
eventually but Adal grants him to spare him from undeath
ArPharazonV: Still beats any poem I've ever written. ..Have I ever written any poems?
AriehnV: its very touching that
ArPharazonV: Oh, that one. I didn't know it was a memorial quest.
AriehnV: it was indeed :-)
VardaValar1: Ar-Pharazon, nothing for the Tolkien Site that I show.
ArPharazonV: I meant in general ;-)
VardaValar1: Time to write some. You know all about what it's like when you dig yourself into a hole.
VardaValar1: (your character, I mean)
AriehnV: Soni really does great work on those card pictures
VardaValar1: :-)
AriehnV: i ve seen them for other games and universes at the comicon
VardaValar1: Hers? She has a lot out.
AriehnV: not hers i am not sure probably not , depends whether she has done things for stuff coming out in Europe
AriehnV: if she has her own website with an kind of list what she has done so far i can have a look
VardaValar1: Topps, Cryptozoic are two that she's worked for
VardaValar1: Yes
VardaValar1: On our site, you can reach her sites.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/caveBohemianWeasel.htm
VardaValar1: There's her sites under the Biography. That's below the pics she made for Characters and Places.
VardaValar1: She's really great about helping out. :-)
VardaValar1: You can see that she did those two for us, from the names on them. Tolkien-inspired Art
VardaValar1: or click the word Biography at the top when you first enter her Art Cave.
VardaValar1: While you get lost in that huge pile of amazing art (and you can buy some!), we'll move on to
VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Eonwe updated the Games Site and emailed more info too. :-)
VardaValar1: Remember that you can send him info to update info on your
favorite game. An url is very handy. A cc to me can also get it on the
General News.
VardaValar1: World of WarCraft:
VardaValar1: There's quite alot to see about World of Warcraft from Blizzcon. Start out with the Legion Opening Cinematic.
VardaValar1: rom there, check out the blog on the World and Content
Panel and the Game Systems Panel. You might also consider the
breakdowns at MMO-Champion where you'll get the information
point-by-point.
VardaValar1: *From, pardon.
VardaValar1: Saw all that? Then start planning if you want the
expansion, because Legion is available for pre-purchase and they're
targeting a release to be on or before September 21st, 2016.
Pre-purchase comes with a level 100 boost and early access to the Demon
Hunter hero class.
ArPharazonV: Also, artifact blog released, and class-update-blogs coming!
VardaValar1: In an email, he mentioned this about his own gaming in WoW:
VardaValar1: Completed the Ulduar 25-man meta achievement solo, and got
the Ironbound Protodrake. Also took out Algaon 25-man solo for good
measure and got the title for doing that.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar. :-)
VardaValar1: and he mentioned for Membership:
VardaValar1: November 6th was my 16th Anniversary with the Valar Guild.
VardaValar1: StarCraft 2:
VardaValar1: Don't forget that Legacy of the Void launches this
Tuesday! Beta has already ended and we know when the Legacy of the Void
servers will go live in each region. You might as well check out the
launch trailer too.
VardaValar1: We're also getting new and updated tile sets.
VardaValar1: Two panels were over Starcraft 2 at Blizzcon, on
competitive multiplayer and the future of Starcraft 2, so check out the
panel recaps at the end of those links.
VardaValar1: Blizzard's also announced a new mission pack coming for Starcraft 2 in 2016: Nova COvert Ops.
VardaValar1: Diablo 3:
VardaValar1: (Bilbo-V plays this quite a bit, for you other D3 players)
VardaValar1: No new expansions were announced for Diablo 3 at Blizzcon,
but we did get a look at what's coming on the Patch 2.4.0 Public Test
Realm.
VardaValar1: Heroes of the Storm:
VardaValar1: New Heroes and Battlegrounds were announced. Want to know who and what? Read the announcement :}
VardaValar1: Overwatch:
VardaValar1: Overwatch is now available for pre-purchase, and is slated
for PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 coming in the Spring of 2016. See
what goodies you get with each edition in the official announcement.
VardaValar1: LotRO:
ArPharazonV: (don't forget Hearthstone)
VardaValar1: Hobnangians (a kind of fair using chickens for the balls)
is going on, as well as all the new area in Minas Tirith and the two
new Epic Battles.
VardaValar1: Hearthstone's not mentioned, so go ahead with that.
ArPharazonV: Hearthstone: Another new Adventure announced for November 12/13 depending on continent, so next week already!
ArPharazonV: Based on the League of Explorers, with one
dungeon/location in each "wing", and some interesting Indiana
Jones-style events/fights and cards to earn.
ArPharazonV: http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/expansions-adventures/league-of-explorers/ for link with details!
ArPharazonV: Alright, continue :-)
VardaValar1: Nice! Thanks.
VardaValar1: Arien saw some of the panels mentioned above. Like to comment, Arien?
AriehnV: yes i watched the two Starcraft panels , art design and
content of Legion of the Void .. i hope thats the right title &^^
too many legions about ;-)
AriehnV: it looked quite awesome graphic and story wise
ArPharazonV: Legacy of the Void ;-)
AriehnV: Legacy of the Void hehe
AriehnV: yeah that
AriehnV: looked really nice also with the new features
AriehnV: and options .. i was playing and rping and had it in the background but looks promising
AriehnV: and i watched the Diablo 3 panel
AriehnV: they had some cool ideas with their set dungeons which you have to unlock first by solving riddles
AriehnV: that i found the best
AriehnV: so you ve got to wear a special set as a special class and
with a hint or a mystery it leads you to a dungeon especially made for
this set
AriehnV: these are timed dungeoons and available for al classes/ sets
AriehnV: you can upgrade those sets or get completely new sets as rewards . sounded fascinating
AriehnV: there was also a new area mentionened some Island which is located in Act V
AriehnV: with new monsters and bounties
AriehnV: oh and completing all the set dungeons is of course a mega achievement with portrait and pet reward
AriehnV: so quite exciting things
ArPharazonV: Enough to keep us busy!
AriehnV: and the new season is going to be 3 months long
AriehnV: the upcoming one
AriehnV: and breaks between season instead of one season after the other
ArPharazonV: Not a lot for someone with my playing frequency, but we'll see how far we get...
AriehnV: i watched the starcraft world championship .. from the semifinals to the end match
AriehnV: very exciting
AriehnV: SoS became reigning World Champion in Starcraft ! since it was the last for the Swarm topic with Legacy coming out
AriehnV: but amazing when you watch these games on big screens how exciting they are
AriehnV: Watched also a bit of Heroes of the storm and it was an amazing match
AriehnV: forgot the name of the teams .. i think Cloud 9 was one
AriehnV: it was just fun to watch
AriehnV: I had to go to bed then unfortunately ^^
AriehnV: but just to give a short impression of course there was the
trailer / cinematic for WoW Legion and Warcraft: The Beginning movie
AriehnV: i cant wait for that movie to come out :-)
ArPharazonV: Hmm, yes, seems like a combination of the first Warcraft game and the Rise of the Horde novel.
ArPharazonV: I hope it's the first in a series ;-)
VardaValar1: That would be immensely expensive to make.
VardaValar1: Did they find a way to cut the cost?
AriehnV: No idea
AriehnV: thats al i know and saw
VardaValar1: They said they couldn't make a WoW movie like the
cinematics due to the time and expense for even the short trailers
taking years. Something must have changed.
VardaValar1: Oh, just noticed that the link to Denethor on the Bohemian
Weasel's page is missing. It can be reached from the page before it:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Denethor/Denethor.htm
VardaValar1: Time is getting tight for me, so let's move on to Tolkien.
ArPharazonV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVzb956kdgc here it is, btw
Tolkien:
VardaValar1: Some claim that JRRT made black and
white characters. In my opinion, he made a lot of grey characters, and
not so sure the others were so black and white. Do you have any
opinions?
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar
ArPharazonV: Lot of the orcs were black!
ArPharazonV: But I don't think that's what you mean ;-)
VardaValar1: True, they were. :-)
VardaValar1: Not green. :-)
AriehnV: brown at first Varda ^^ hehe , the Uruks were black
VardaValar1: Aye. Black was the color of Mordor, so it made sense.
ArPharazonV: Nazgul were black.
ArPharazonV: Morgoth and Sauron used black armor.
VardaValar1: They even stole the prized black horses of Rohan.
VardaValar1: until few were left of that color.
ArPharazonV: Speaking of horses, for white, try Shadowfax and his rider :-)
AriehnV: eh grey characters .. Boromir i d call grey with his
temptation through the ring, hmm Gollum I wonder whether he could be
called grey? or was he black because he had this ultimate motive of
regaining the ring
VardaValar1: Arwen was needed to bring back the beauty of the night and remove the terror of it that Morgoth and Sauron wrought.
ArPharazonV: I'd say Gollum was grey, especially because he had an obvious good side and was close to giving in to it at times.
VardaValar1: If someone isn't totally evil through and through, they may be considered gray.
VardaValar1: Even Sauron was considered less evil than his master
Morgoth, if only because for a time he served another than himself.
VardaValar1: served another, I think is the quote.
VardaValar1: Sauron was tempted to go back with Eonwe and be redeemed,
but couldn't bear what he figured Manwe would do, the humiliation.
ArPharazonV: rather dark grey then, going darker as he went along
VardaValar1: Pride, fear, having had a cruel master before.
VardaValar1: Sounds right.
VardaValar1: Gollum had moments where he liked being on the good side, liked Frodo.
VardaValar1: He felt betrayed at Osgiliath, since he didn't understand, and that was probably his turning point.
VardaValar1: So aye, to Gollum as a grey character.
ArPharazonV: I recall a turning point right before Cirith Ungol,
vaguely... whereby he came close to repenting, but an insult from Sam
threw him off course.
VardaValar1: Boromir too, aye, as he meant to save his city and the world with the Ring. He had modern-style thinking.
VardaValar1: Aye, Sam misunderstood the way Gollum was reaching out to a sleeping Frodo, and tried to protect Frodo. Oops.
VardaValar1: What about Denethor?
VardaValar1: Oh, Shadowfax looked silvery, I think. Sort of like Gandalf was grey but then white.
ArPharazonV: Right, Shadowfax is grey too, then :-)
ArPharazonV: silver is close enough...
AriehnV: Denethor .. i guess you could call him grey in a way in the beginning first
AriehnV: at least until he detected who Thorongil was .. he feared to
lose his seat as ruler of the city and the land of Gondor and Minas
Tirith
ArPharazonV: I don't think that acting out of fear makes one black.
VardaValar1: Fear leads to the dark side... ;-)
AriehnV: in the beginning, I doubt not , he had only the best of both in his intentions and he loved both his sons
AriehnV: ((off topic.. amazing picture of Yoda by Soni on her site btw))
VardaValar1: (Aye)
VardaValar1: Denethor loved his wife. She didn't do well in his halls
of stone and withered to die early. That affected him as well.
ArPharazonV: Makes a man wonder what's wrong with halls of stone.
VardaValar1: She was used to wide open, wild spaces, the sea. She felt confined.
VardaValar1: Aragorn might have had to make sure Arwen didn't feel
confined. Maybe lots of trips to Ithilien, Rivendell, or just around.
ArPharazonV: Ithilien's around.
VardaValar1: Aye
VardaValar1: She might have liked Henneth Annun over there. And they had an elven colony.
ArPharazonV: Would be good to have kinsmen around, no matter how distant.
ArPharazonV: Though Aragorn's line is more related to her than the Sindar ;-)
VardaValar1: Most elves in Ithilien would have been Silvan, even less
related. But she was more or less human by then, not really like anyone
else except mayber her brothers in Rivendell.
ArPharazonV: Nope, correcting myself on that, Celeborn her grandfather was Sindarin, I think.
VardaValar1: I'm sure they visited Rivendell. And the brothers may have come down too, since even Hobbits did.
VardaValar1: Celeborn was Sindarin, aye.
VardaValar1: Galadriel was partly
AriehnV: she was niece of Turgon was it?
AriehnV: or Finwe .. or somesuch
AriehnV: i forgot her lineage
AriehnV: Finwe and Indis were here Grandparents
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/g/Galadriel/GaladrielI/Galadriel1.htm#Lineage
VardaValar1: Quoting: Galadriel's mother was Earwen, daughter to high-king Olwė of the Teleri of Alqualondė.
VardaValar1: Thus in Galadriel all three royal lines of the high-elves (Noldor, Teleri and Vanyar) came united.
VardaValar1: End quote. From Irmo-Valar
AriehnV: yep
AriehnV: thanks Varda
VardaValar1: Almost Oromesquely concise there. :-)
VardaValar1: Galadriel was 6'4". Forgot how very tall she was.
ArPharazonV: Certainly compared to those hobbits.
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: What a nice shin you have, m'am.
AriehnV: *i ll have that shinbone , din glon"
ArPharazonV: That troll might have bitten off more than he can chew... and I'm not talking about the bone.
VardaValar1: Troll sat alone on his seat of stone and munched and mumbled a bare old bone.
VardaValar1: Sorry, random bit of poetry sprang to mind, probably needs removed from the transcript.
VardaValar1: Back to grey characters
VardaValar1: Did any of the Fellowship other than Boromir ever show a sign of grayness?
ArPharazonV: Random stuff is always fun to have in the transcript.
AriehnV: hehe its okay thats what got in my head too ^^ my fault for the distracton
VardaValar1: :-)
ArPharazonV: Legolas and Gimli started out a bit hostile to each other, I believe.
AriehnV: hmm thinking of Pippin and the Palantir
AriehnV: a moment of Grayness there
ArPharazonV: Oh yes, how dare he disobey Gandalf...
VardaValar1: He hid the Palantir, knew it was wrong.
AriehnV: and repace it by a stone honestly
AriehnV: replace even
VardaValar1: aye, ow, a stone? Not even a pillow?
AriehnV: well he wrapped the stone in a cloak i believe at least ..
ArPharazonV: Hah.
VardaValar1: Aye, Gimli and Legolas were fighting prejudice from what they had heard all their young (ish) lives.
VardaValar1: O good. :-)
VardaValar1: They had to overcome mutual distrust from all they had learned. Not an easy thing.
VardaValar1: Sam spied on his master, for his own good. The Conspiracy. Until Gandalf dried him up as an information source.
ArPharazonV: Gandalf had smoking habits! Very bad!
ArPharazonV: I bet he started off white, too, and then all the smoke made his hair and robes grey.
VardaValar1: They didn't know it was bad then, heh. And he was going to drop that body after Sauron was handled anyway.
AriehnV: Grima springs to mind as a gray character ... he might have
started out as an honest clerk and then got snared by Saruman who
promised him eowyn and a post close to the throne and maybe the throne
of Rohan itself
VardaValar1: Aye, definitely gray. Saruman pushed him a long way towards very dark grey.
AriehnV: yep
VardaValar1: (Gray, American spelling. Grey, English spelling)
AriehnV: =-O
VardaValar1: That was a very funny star emote. :-)
AriehnV: Lotho Sackville Baggins of the Hobits?
ArPharazonV: Greay?
AriehnV: Grey
VardaValar1: Grey
ArPharazonV: Graey sounds better.
VardaValar1: Graey? :-)
VardaValar1: Goes with my accent better. ;-)
ArPharazonV: Should be pronounced about the same way I think :-)
ArPharazonV: Lobelia's grey. First portrayed as darker grey, but
becomes lighter until she's gleaming when the Hobbits come back home.
VardaValar1: Lotho was just a hobbit that expected to inherit and kept
being disappointed. Lobelia was surely pushing him. He may have been
both in hope and intimidated by Saruman or his ruffians.
VardaValar1: One wonders about Lotho's death.
VardaValar1: He must have defied Saruman and his ruffians.
VardaValar1: Lobelia was too public with her umbrella and fussing at the ruffians for her death to be easily covered up
AriehnV: Saruman gives some grizzly hints to the hobbits what might have happenened
AriehnV: yikes
VardaValar1: Aye, ick.
VardaValar1: Grima, "but you told me to!"
ArPharazonV: Dark graey Wormtongue, indeed.
VardaValar1: 'and you do what you're told." Calls him a dog. Takes away
his hope of staying in the Shire at least for a while. Frodo's offer.
AriehnV: and "Grima does everything Sharky tells him to , does he not? " Saruman mocked " and Sharky sais come, dog we go now"
VardaValar1: Frodo's offer of kindness to Grima leads to Saruman's death.
VardaValar1: because Saruman destroys his hope.
VardaValar1: Hope is a huge thing in the books.
AriehnV: indeed
AriehnV: and ironically the death of Saruman leads to the hobbits killing of Grima
VardaValar1: Around and around we go.
AriehnV: hmm else i can't think of anymore grey characters
ArPharazonV: Saruman started grey.
AriehnV: i also think we should let Varda go to get ready for her business trip and eat as welll ** ut yeah he started out grey
VardaValar1: Doesn't mean you have to stop.
AriehnV: when he was helping to fight Sauron in dol Guldur to chase him out there
VardaValar1: *picks up a small gavel*
VardaValar1: *shiny*
VardaValar1: *tink*
VardaValar1: *long cracks spread outward*
ArPharazonV: Those gavels never do just what you expect, do they?
VardaValar1: *Aule's apprentices jump to fix it, after Aule's last comments to them*
top
VardaValar1: After-meeting!
VardaValar1: I ate at the computer just now. :-)
AriehnV: *oh nice sound .. *lights the gavel with a ray golden*
AriehnV: right .. i should head to bed now as well , my friends
AriehnV: sleep ye wel
VardaValar1: Good night. Great subject. We could have gone on quite a while longer, most likely. :-)
AriehnV: Good night ! Mara lome!
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1: Mara lome :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: and Mara lome :-)
VardaValar1: Handy quick guide from Irmo:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/lang/IrmoElvish.htm
VardaValar1: Under Languages on our Tolkien Site
VardaValar1: I should say:
VardaValar1: Mara sinyė
VardaValar1: since it's only evening here.
VardaValar1: lome is for night, which it is for Arien and the Phar.
VardaValar1: Mara mesta for goodbye is a nice one to get around the time zones.
ArPharazonV: That works.
ArPharazonV: Well then...
ArPharazonV: personal gaming from Pharazon!
VardaValar1: yay!
ArPharazonV: I've got 3 flashgames for you!
ArPharazonV: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/stacko is a puzzle game where you have to click on tiles in the right order to make a correct stack. Simple enough, not too difficult.
ArPharazonV: Lots of levels though!
ArPharazonV: For the second game, http://www.kongregate.com/games/elvengames/zombie-and-juliet I mentioned last week but on another website; it's since come to kongregate, and with working save function this time :-)
VardaValar1: yay for repairs. Says well of Kongregate.
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/3dleigh/tankblitz-zero is the third game, a tank game with upgrades, but it's rather short, and serves more as a demo.
ArPharazonV: Oh yes, Kongregate is very accomodating to fixes and
upgrades, and there's a lot of communication going on between the site
staff and the developers.
ArPharazonV: Useful for assigning badges, and sometimes changing the game to fit them.
ArPharazonV: Righto. Blizzard games.
ArPharazonV: Hearthstone: Was
already saving a bit of gold, good thing too, with new adventure around
the corner. But the time between announcement and release is so small,
I think I'll only have gold to access the first two wings when they're
available; the rest will take more time to unlock.
ArPharazonV: Also I recommend this week's Tavern brawl, if you haven't
done it yet; a boss that both players have to fight with pre-set decks,
with the boss changing sides of the board depending on whose turn it
is. Requires a bit of luck (of course, it's a card-game) but I did
manage it on my first try, though it was very close :-)
ArPharazonV: Unique experience to have to team up with your opponent, but you get plenty of cards that benefit both sides.
ArPharazonV: Heroes of the Storm:
Halloween quest going well so far, about 3/5th of the way. Looking
forward to the new heroes announced, dryad looks interesting, and so
does Cho'gall, though I wonder how he'll work in practice. Unique hero
used by two players at once.
ArPharazonV: Diablo 3: While I
haven't played any this week, I did look into the 2.4 patch coming, and
there's some really interesting stuff, including a "rebirth", where you
can basically reboot one of your heroes into the new season, with the
gear that hero had going in your general stash. It allows you to
participate in seasons and play the hero you were familiar with, face,
name, etc, and not taking up a new character slot.
ArPharazonV: I might do that with my previous seasonal heroes :-)
ArPharazonV: Starcraft II: Been
playing that a lot more this week, finishing up Kaldir and Zerus in the
Heart of the Swarm campaign, meaning I've got 4 out of 7 "chapters"
done. But I knew I wasn't going to make it before release, so this
afternoon I cruised through the protoss Prologue missions instead.
ArPharazonV: It'll prepare me for LotV's release, even though I have
some Swarm missions still to do, but after Zerus I do think I have the
required missions done to not get a big gap in lore between the two
campaigns.
ArPharazonV: I do want to finish Swarm in the next few weeks, but not sure if I'll go straight into Void after that.
ArPharazonV: Awaiting my arrival of the Collector's Edition in 2 days :-)
ArPharazonV: WoW: Steamwheedle
Preservation Society reputation maxed out! Ventured into Ashran for a
bit to farm Wrynn's Vanguard reputation and/or get the last 3 trading
post auctioneer pieces. I found a good place to farm mobs already, with
good respawn time and not much competition, that isn't seeing a lot of
the PvP action on the island.
ArPharazonV: Got the last pet bought for the pet charms from the pet
tamers, and have started using new stones to upgrade pets of lower
quality that I had into rare versions. There shouldn't be too many of
those, though there are a bunch of crafted and bought pets that start
uncommon by default.
ArPharazonV: Good to have a reliable way to finally get all those to rare quality :-)
ArPharazonV: Also, our first heroic Mannoroth kill earlier today, in
the raid! Just Archimonde to go. Not sure how tough he'll be after
getting him down on normal difficulty. After that's done we'll probably
poke Mythic difficulty too :-)
ArPharazonV: Right, that's my gaming news!
VardaValar1: Thank you
VardaValar1: Namarie!
AnarionV: Namarie!
VardaValar1 has left the room.
AnarionV: I logged into the channel, and then I mostly forgot about it ^^
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
ArPharazonV: Hah.
ArPharazonV: Right! Varda just messaged me that she wants the transcript
ArPharazonV: so, saving and sending transcript :-)
