Eonwe Valar: Heya Indis :}
karakedi25: Thank you, and to you. You're a real mom...I'm just a cat mom :-)
karakedi25: Hey Eonwe!
VardaValar1: (Cats think you're a real mom!)
karakedi25: especially when I bring out the food....
VardaValar1: (Not about to argue with your cats!)
VardaValar1: For sure!
VardaValar1: Games Site has news from Eonwe that we'll let him tell in the Gaming section.

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Go ahead, Eonwe. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}

Eonwe Valar: WoW:
Eonwe Valar: New blog for something coming in 6.2:  Patch 6.2 Preview—Bonus Events and Adventure Guide.
Eonwe Valar:  PTR patch notes have been updated.
Eonwe Valar: See the recent hotfixes.

Eonwe Valar: Diablo 3:
Eonwe Valar: Patch 2.2.1 is on the PTR. See the patch notes here. Apparently they weren't going to test it, then changed their mind.

Eonwe Valar: Heroes of the Storm:
Eonwe Valar: Check out the blog Developer Insights: Patch Preview 5/5/2015.

Eonwe Valar: That covers it for my gaming news.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe :-)
Eonwe Valar: MP :}
VardaValar1: Of course, we had the May the 4th be with you this month. :-)
ArPharazonV: And Revenge of the Fifth?

VardaValar1: Then in LotRO, we had the big news. Update 16, Ashes of Osgiliath, has come out, and had a hotfix after testing on us live.
VardaValar1: hehe Phar
VardaValar1: Here's the Official Release Notes:
VardaValar1: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?568045-Update-16-Ashes-of-Osgiliath-%E2 %80%93-Official-Release-Notes
karakedi25: U16 appears to be getting a good reception. I like it so far.
VardaValar1: Gamers have been calling for a new instance cluster with tough raiding and nice rewards, and got it.
VardaValar1: Aye, good for us too. Stuff that is best with at least a duo, or being verrrry careful.
ArPharazonV: Remind me, where in the LotR timeline does this take place?
VardaValar1: This is when Osgiliath has been attacked by Mordor, during the attack.
karakedi25: shortly before the action in Minas Tirith
VardaValar1: Aye.
ArPharazonV: Aha!
karakedi25: We're in Eastern Gondor now.
VardaValar1: Whole new areas, and the art has been given love.
VardaValar1: Noticed the goblins, for instance? Eyes changed, big and a little slanted. Colors are a bit different as some are red, some not.
VardaValar1: Gorlim-V noticed it right away. So I zoomed in and sure enough, all kinds of work.
VardaValar1: The landscape for the new areas has been lovingly handled, making us want the sun to come out again in Lossarnach.
VardaValar1: It's full of flowers, flowering trees. But the endless night is on us from Mordor.
karakedi25: have you noticed that the clouds sometimes break up during the daytime, so there's some weak sun, at least east of the Anduin
VardaValar1: Kind of like showing us the edge. Sure glad of it!
VardaValar1: Sauron doesn't control everything yet!
VardaValar1: In the story, we are trying to help the southern rangers of Faramir, and one thing we're doing is looking for him.
karakedi25: Have you made it into Osgiliath to hunt for him yet?
VardaValar1: Yes. Gorlim and I have been in the sewers, hunting. :-)
VardaValar1: Messy on the boots.
karakedi25: I'm not looking forward to soloing that.
VardaValar1: We also have the new imbuement system.
VardaValar1: Right now it's for level 100 legendary weapons, until the bugs are ironed out.
VardaValar1: We have some pages on the News to help folks work their way through the system.
VardaValar1: Some mentioned last meeting.
VardaValar1: It's a system that lets us get our Legendaries maxed, then take them beyond to grow with us.
VardaValar1: Any other gaming news?

ArPharazonV: No, but I can give you a bit more membership news
VardaValar1: Great! Go ahead. :-)
ArPharazonV: Mentioned this last week, but it was my 30th birthday this wednesday!
ArPharazonV: Also, if I recall correctly, it's Fladrif's birthday *today*!
VardaValar1: Happy leveling to you both! :-)
ArPharazonV: And because my brother also came up at the last second with wanting to give me a present, I went ahead and bought that Shakespeare book I mentioned a few weeks ago :-) Should be arriving middle of next week!
VardaValar1: Woot!
VardaValar1: Plenty of reading at all sorts of levels there. :-)
AriehnV: Hsbby biirfday you both :-)
ArPharazonV: Thanks!
Eonwe Valar: Happy Birthday :}
ArPharazonV: Thank you too!
karakedi25: HB!
VardaValar1: Any other business, suggestions, comments, gripes, kudos, etc?
ArPharazonV: Thanks :-) May there be many more.
VardaValar1: We're here to listen as well as pass along the news.
VardaValar1: and the email is always there for everyone. Check the Membership page if you're not sure what it is.
VardaValar1: Also check it to be sure we're using the email you want us to use.
VardaValar1: and now,
top

VardaValar1: Tolkien!
ArPharazonV: In an instance, will pop in now and then during Tolkien.
VardaValar1: Due to the nature of the adventure and the times, we don't run into a lot of female characters during the Lord of the Rings, although we see more in the Silmarillion, and very few in the Hobbit.
VardaValar1: Okies
VardaValar1: Going by the books, which ones can we think of first for the Hobbit. And this is open book, as I just wanted to be reminded mostly.
VardaValar1: Hobbit ladies?
VardaValar1: Book I mean. :-)
VardaValar1: PJ had *very* little to work with to satisfy the folks who insist on some female characters.
AriehnV has left the room.
karakedi25: that's why PJ made at least one up (the elf huntress)
VardaValar1: Aye.
VardaValar1: Tauriel
ArPharazonV: Yes.. and put her in a romance plot from the start.
ArPharazonV: *shakes head*
karakedi25: and an exceedingly unlikely one at that
VardaValar1: There had to be elleths in Mirkwood and most likely ones that could fight, since they were working on survival. It made some sense.
VardaValar1: The romance in the movie was a bit... odd.
VardaValar1: I can see Thranduil telling his son no silvans, but that left very little in the dating pool.
karakedi25: yes, of course there were elleths, but I can't seriously imagine a romance between them and a dwarf
VardaValar1: The House of Oropher was Sindarin, when it came over from Doriath. The Sindarins in it would have been family or lesser nobility or lower class. Seneschal etc
AriehnV has entered the room.
karakedi25: Do we know if Tauriel was a Sinda?
VardaValar1: They probably intended to marry the child of Thranduil to Amroth's child assuming he had one.
Eonwe Valar: Based on Laws and Customs of the Eldar, I've no doubt there were Nissi who could defend themselves, just as the Neri. It would be a question of personality and preference either way. Not every Ner was a warrior either. But about the romance, aye. There is no reason to think a Dwarf and an Elf would be romantically involved.
AriehnV: she is a woodelf actrually
VardaValar1: Tauriel in the movie was a silvan
VardaValar1: The movie romance helped give another reason for Legolas to dislike Gimli. :-)
karakedi25: the movie is the only place she exists, no?
VardaValar1: Aye, Tauriel is a movie-only character.
Eonwe Valar: Unless they rewrote the Hobbit in the last couple of years, yes.
Eonwe Valar: "The book, based on the movie, based on the book" heh.
VardaValar1: hehehe
karakedi25: 'they' don't count if their initials aren't JRRT
VardaValar1: We don't even have Lobelia yet, do we?
Eonwe Valar: Lobelia came in at the end of the Hobbit at least. I ended up re-reading the last chapter or two recently, hehhe.
VardaValar1: JRRT was also writing for his sons, at an age when girls were considered sources of cooties. :-)
VardaValar1: Ahh thanks. :-)
ArPharazonV: Was Bilbo's mother mentioned at the start?
VardaValar1: Ah there it says the Sackville-Bagginses were measuring his rooms to see if their furniture fit.
ArPharazonV: ah :-)
VardaValar1: Heh, if a Kindle copy is searchable, that might be a reason to get the Hobbit as an e-book.
VardaValar1: No index on this paper copy.
AriehnV: well you see Lobelia actually at the end of the Hobbit
AriehnV: and her hubby i think
VardaValar1: I don't actually see Lobelia mentioned, just the Sackville-Bagginses. Do you see it? *flips pages*
Eonwe Valar: Ok, maybe she wasn't mentioned by name...
ArPharazonV: She was implied!
Eonwe Valar: But we all know Lobelia so well, to imagine it wasn't her is impossible :}
VardaValar1: Just a quick mention, Bilbo gives Thranduil a necklace of silver and pearls, given him by Dain at their parting, to make up for what he stole from Thranduil's Halls for wine and food.
VardaValar1: Aye, we retro-think when we read the Hobbit from what we know of the LotR.
VardaValar1: If JRRT had known ahead what he would have put in the LotR, more such mentions would surely have been made.
VardaValar1: Isn't Galadriel mentioned when they speak of the Council of the Wise, as Gandalf had to leave to work with them vs the Necromancer.
VardaValar1: At the time it was a plot device so the other characters would have something to do besides watch Gandalf fry everything in their way.
Eonwe Valar: An interesting sentence here about Belladonna Took, that you may take as you wish...
VardaValar1: That she's mentioned is our first answer to the topic question. :-)
Eonwe Valar: "Not that Belladonna Took ever had any adventures after she became Mrs. Bungo Baggins." (emphasis mine)
ArPharazonV: Which is what i said earlier, Bilbo's mom mentioned!
VardaValar1: Aye, so now we know she was mentioned by name.
Eonwe Valar: One of 3 daughters of the Old Took.
ArPharazonV: I'm half surprised that PJ didn't make one or more of the 13 dwarves female, seeing as how he wanted to differentiate between them.
ArPharazonV: Unless some of them were and we never noticed because of the beards!
VardaValar1: JRRT does use the word "he" for each of the dwarves. Lore-nuts like us would have been upset.
VardaValar1: But aye, seems like something that could have happened in the movies.
VardaValar1: So, is Galadriel or any other female character named in the Hobbit?
karakedi25: PJ brings her into the movie
ArPharazonV: I do not recall the White Council being discussed in such detail. It was mostly elaborated on in LotR and UT.
ArPharazonV: It was mostly Gandalf saying "Gotta go. See ya!"
VardaValar1: He had reason. The Council that Gandalf had to go to included her. Just wondering if she's mentioned.
ArPharazonV: But I could be mistaken.
VardaValar1: Ok, guess I need to do a proper re-read. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Oh dear me, Gandalf seemed to recruit alot from Hobbits if the Hobbit tales are to be believed..."Not the Gandalf who was responsible for so many quiet lads and lasses going off into the Blue for mad adventures. Anything from climbing trees to visiting Elves --- or sailing in ships, sailing to other shores!"
VardaValar1: Lot of potential fan fic material there, and an excuse for the hobbits walking around LotRO. :-)
VardaValar1: Have to wonder if a number of them settled outside the Shire's ken.
ArPharazonV: A specialist need for burglars?
VardaValar1: Maybe. Says "quiet lads and lasses".
VardaValar1: So we have girl hobbits too.
Eonwe Valar: Doubtless that's been exaggerated a bit in Hobbit legend, but I could reasonably see Gandalf having something to do with the Hobbits that went to the battle against Angmar after the fall of Fornost.
VardaValar1: Quite possible. Or their sense of duty did it.
VardaValar1: Archers are the ones mentioned there.
VardaValar1: The bow helped hobbits bring in more provender for the table, like the old Kentucky riflemen who were so good in battle, not from military training to start.
ArPharazonV: What a twist: Gandalf has been leading hobbit burglars around the world in order to procure priceless artefacts from dwarves, elves, and other races, and has a secret collection stashed away somewhere.
VardaValar1: Burglary, cooking, archery.
Eonwe Valar: And various other adventures, but would any of them be on the level of Bilbo's? What is being hid from Hobbits in the Took libraries? :}
VardaValar1: Or stashed at Rivendell.
VardaValar1: Elrond did comment that they couldn't keep the Ring in Rivendell. Might not be the first time he was asked to hold on to something.
VardaValar1: We need to sneak a peek into those books!
VardaValar1: Bilbo was setting up for world-saving. Frodo actually had to go save the world. So much could have been done in the getting ready.
ArPharazonV: So many tiny adventures, changes in history, all leading up to Bilbo and Frodo saving the world.
VardaValar1: Ton of potential fan fiction. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Belladonna Took: Warrior Princess,.. lol.
VardaValar1: The dwarf party went through two elven lands without really noticing anything as uninteresting as elven ladies.
VardaValar1: lol - o no
VardaValar1: Primula Brandybuck, naval officer
ArPharazonV: Pff, who cares about those elf women? They don't even have beards.
VardaValar1: Right, not attractive at all.

VardaValar1: Ok, so we should move on to the LotR. In comparison, we have lots of female characters at least mentioned.
VardaValar1: Starting with the party, quite a few Hobbit lasses are named. :-)
ArPharazonV: Lobelia, for example!
VardaValar1: We don't get to hear if Frodo was interested, but his interests might have been more towards those in other areas too far for much dating, as the Brandybuck warren or Tookland.
karakedi25: I think Phar has a crush on Lobelia ;-)
ArPharazonV: I'm just mentioning her because you mentioned her earlier.
ArPharazonV: I could very well have said Galadriel.
VardaValar1: And you just did! :-)
karakedi25: I didn't mention her...I don't so anyway
VardaValar1: We used to have a member of the guild named Lobelia. :-)
karakedi25: *don't think
Eonwe Valar: I mentioned Lobelia, if no one else did.
Eonwe Valar: Then we established she wasn't actually named in the Hobbit, hehe.
VardaValar1: Ok, so we have Primula, Lobelia, and a long string of hobbit lasses mentioned at the party in the LotR.
VardaValar1: Of elves, we have Galadriel mentioned.
VardaValar1: How about humans?
VardaValar1: Ioreth (also a Full Member)
ArPharazonV: Eowyn
VardaValar1: yay! Eowyn even got to be a major character.
VardaValar1: Arwen
ArPharazonV: PJ added a few new ones if I recall, a few Rohan commoners. I think the daughter was named, even.
VardaValar1: sorry, humans.
VardaValar1: Finduilos was mentioned, wife of Denethor
Eonwe Valar: Finduilas
ArPharazonV: I think Eomer's wife was mentioned as well.
ArPharazonV: From Dol Amroth?
ArPharazonV: Lothiriel.
VardaValar1: Thanks :-)
VardaValar1: Any human female that had a name. Not many, but certainly more than in the Hobbit.
VardaValar1: Gilraen, mother of Aragorn that lived at Rivendell
ArPharazonV: Gilraen was named.
ArPharazonV: Yep.
VardaValar1: Ok, how about in the LotR: female elves?
ArPharazonV: Galadriel, Arwen.
ArPharazonV: Legol- no, wait...
ArPharazonV: Celebrian.
VardaValar1: hey! :-)
Eonwe Valar: Nimrodel, named at least.
Eonwe Valar: Luthien for that matter.
VardaValar1: (Noticing our page for Men didn't have all the ladies marked, hope I got them all now with a letter f.
VardaValar1: Helps new folk find a name better.
ArPharazonV: Could make a page called Women.
ArPharazonV: Like the Silmarillion parody that described the females of the race of Men as "Mannish Women" and then made an entire paragraph about how he meant human females, and not women with mustaches etc.
VardaValar1: :-)
VardaValar1: I was using Men the way JRRT did and the old usage for Mankind. heh
ArPharazonV: Still sounds a bit weird though ;-)
VardaValar1: Had to say Mankind in a few spots because PC has confused so many, or is so rampant.
ArPharazonV: That is true.
VardaValar1: Not having the word for general humanity anymore makes pronoun reference much more difficult, especially number.
VardaValar1: But ok. any other elf women from the LotR?

VardaValar1: The Silmarillion is much kinder to us on this subject. On to the Sil!
VardaValar1: Some names here that we can re-use.
ArPharazonV: Luthien, Galadriel.
ArPharazonV: Are ones that can be re-used.
ArPharazonV: I also believe there's this Varda-woman mentioned, but not sure...
VardaValar1: :-)
ArPharazonV: And an Indis and an Arien.
VardaValar1: Ilmare, Yavanna
VardaValar1: Meassa
VardaValar1: Nessa, Nienna
VardaValar1: Este
VardaValar1: Vaire
VardaValar1: Vana
ArPharazonV: You're really just leafing through the book and naming every female that appears, right?
VardaValar1: Those were the ones that were Maia/Vala in Valinor.
VardaValar1: Now we can move on to elves. :-)
VardaValar1: You already got Luthien, Galadriel, Indis
Eonwe Valar: Idril
Eonwe Valar: Aredhel
ArPharazonV: Miriel
Eonwe Valar: Nerdanel
Eonwe Valar: Finduilas the Elf
ArPharazonV: Nimloth
ArPharazonV: Elwing, if part elf suffices.
VardaValar1: She chose elf, so yes. :-)
VardaValar1: Bringing the dawn seems more like a Maia though.
Eonwe Valar: I feel like we're missing someone...
Eonwe Valar: Turgon's wife, lost in the crossing of the Helcaraxë
VardaValar1: O wow, we need an article for Elwing
ArPharazonV: We skipped Melian, but she's neither in Valinor (well, until later) nor an elf.
ArPharazonV: Is she named, Eonwe?
VardaValar1: Melian is a Maia
VardaValar1: I missed that one. :-)
Eonwe Valar: She is, it's an A name... Amarië?
ArPharazonV: *hits up google*
Eonwe Valar: No, that's Finrod's wife...
VardaValar1: You could use our page. :-)
ArPharazonV: Elenwë
ArPharazonV: I really should, shouldn't I?
Eonwe Valar: That's it, thanks Phar.
VardaValar1: Google works too. :-)
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/elves.html
VardaValar1: Our pages have been pushed way back on the Google searches, as have the Ardalambion and all older sites. They don't like our coding, I guess.
ArPharazonV: Well yes, but that's a bit tougher if I don't have the name ;-)
VardaValar1: Aye, have to go to Finrod
VardaValar1: Finrod's mother is Earwen
VardaValar1: ah pardon. I got sidetracked. You were after Turgon.
ArPharazonV: I was.
VardaValar1: We need a proper article for him. Barely a little mention. The wikis call that a "stub".
VardaValar1: People keep thinking there's nothing to add to our site. Actually we could use a lot.
VardaValar1: Lots of female elves in the Silmarillion and HoMe. :-)
VardaValar1: How about some humans?
Eonwe Valar: Haleth
ArPharazonV: Nienor. Lalaith.
ArPharazonV: Morwen
ArPharazonV: There have to be some more, I'd think...
Eonwe Valar: There's Turin's.. aunt I think she was?... when he revisited his birthlands.
Eonwe Valar: Rian, mother of Tuor is another one
VardaValar1: Lalaith, Turin's little sister
VardaValar1: pardon, you already named
Eonwe Valar: Aerin was the kinswoman of Hurin I was thinking of.
ArPharazonV: Ah yes, that sounds familiar.
Eonwe Valar: Still missing someone...
VardaValar1: Really need an article on Barahir
Eonwe Valar: Gorlim's wife...
Eonwe Valar: Eilinel
AriehnV: did you mention Thorins sister? Dis?
Eonwe Valar: Have we mentioned Tar-Miriel of Numenor yet?
ArPharazonV: We have not mentioned the Akallabeth, I think.
Eonwe Valar: We haven't delved into the Numenoreans, actually.
karakedi25: or do we have to dive into some of them?
ArPharazonV: I could name a few, but not sure if they're also in the Silmarillion, or just UT.
ArPharazonV: Silmarien, Ancalime, Erendis.
ArPharazonV: Inzilbeth.
Eonwe Valar: Silmarien is the daughter of Tar-Elendil, from whom the following Lords of Andunië are descended, down to Aragorn.
VardaValar1: Ok, we'll throw it open to anything not in the H or LotR. :-)
karakedi25: afk
Eonwe Valar: Lindorië was the mother of Inzilbeth and sister to Earendur (Lord of Andunië in the days of Ar Sakalthor).
VardaValar1: Dis was the whole section of named dwarf women. :-)
ArPharazonV: Hah.
AriehnV: hehe indeed
VardaValar1: Dis was indeed Thorin's youngest sibling. She was also the mother to Fili and Kili.
ArPharazonV: Any more in Appendix A?
ArPharazonV: I believe there was something about a union between Arnor and Gondor before Arnor collapsed, or a claim to the throne or something
ArPharazonV: *goes to find book*
Eonwe Valar: I recall the part you're talking about.
Eonwe Valar: Don't recall the name though.
Eonwe Valar: We never named Primula Brandybuck, as I recall.
ArPharazonV: Oh, here's something.
ArPharazonV: "On the death of Ondoher and his sons, Arvedui of the North-kingdom claimed the crown of Gondor, as the direct descendant of Isildur, and as the husband of Firiel, only surviving child of Ondoher."
ArPharazonV: Firiel!
Eonwe Valar: Aha, that's it.
ArPharazonV: Did we ever mention Rose Cotton?
VardaValar1: Don't believe so. Important too, as Sam's motivation to live.
ArPharazonV: Yes. Slightly bigger role in the Scouring too, at least compared to her movie role ;-)
VardaValar1: Another reason Sam wasn't the Ringbearer.
VardaValar1: PJ didn't like the Scouring, dropped it. I happen to disagree with his assessment, since it brings the Hero's Journey to the close.
VardaValar1: Ok, shall we call it and go to the After-meeting and free chat?
karakedi25: It also brought Saruman to a close.
VardaValar1: Aye
ArPharazonV: Well, PJ gave Saruman a different close. Extended, at least.

VardaValar1: Would we like to talk about the forum rp a bit, while we have Eonwe with us?
ArPharazonV: Could do.
karakedi25: Seems like a good idea to me.
Eonwe Valar: I'm game.
AriehnV: all rigt
AriehnV: right
Eonwe Valar: I was curious if you all want to do your own "I received an invitation to the meeting" posts, or if you want a lead in "the invitations were sent out" post.
ArPharazonV: As far as I know, Fainan and I are on our way to round up the others?
ArPharazonV: But getting an invitation along the way works.
karakedi25: We would all need to know what the invitation says, so we don't go off track in reacting to it.
VardaValar1: Well, Fainan and Calion were on their way together, Frali was on his way on his own.
karakedi25: And somewhere along the line, Eonwe's character needs to find out that he's going with us.
karakedi25: Meren is still blissfully ignorant of the meeting.
VardaValar1: We could find Frali already there with Elrond. :-)
VardaValar1: Fainan and Calion are going to try to collect Meren.
Eonwe Valar: I wasn't sure what time-frame your previous posts were in, since I projected my last one a couple of days in the future (day the Fellowship left) and probably the summons will be a couple of days after that.
VardaValar1: Ahh, I hadn't caught on to the Fellowship timing, pardon.
VardaValar1: Elrond might have time for us then, good point.
Eonwe Valar: I would say the "invitation" would say something along the lines of "Lord Elrond summons you to a meeting to discuss your task, and the orc-sword" kind of thing.
VardaValar1: As Mirkwood elves, we would be interested in noting that Legolas had gone. Maybe we should leave first so we don't spill the beans?
ArPharazonV: So this is still a few days *before* the meeting with Auros and Elrond?
VardaValar1: Toss us out just before
VardaValar1: It's a thought. Letting you guys make comments.
karakedi25: Why would we spill any beans? We already know there's a big deal going on.
karakedi25: And to whom would we spill them?
Eonwe Valar: I assume Varda's thinking more like we're captured/tortured/we just start talking randomly and someone happens to hear us that we didn't know was there? (the last one a la Frodo's casual mentioning of Galadriel's ring after Lothlorien)
Eonwe Valar: Not that we're going to walk up to an orc and start gossiping, lol.
Eonwe Valar: :}
karakedi25: https://twitter.com/theoneringnet/status/597460617293762561
ArPharazonV: If we leave before the Fellowship leaves, it puts Auros several days' journey behind us.
karakedi25: Appropos of Belladona.
Eonwe Valar: Aye, since Auros has been using this time trying to figure out the sword.
ArPharazonV: Would we be leaving without discussing the sword with Elrond, anyway?
Eonwe Valar: Well, that would be interesting, not knowing that it has any bearing, but it opens up a bunch of questions I don't have answers for, like why would Auros follow them with the sword, when he could just destroy it(or attempt to), and how quickly would he catch it.
Eonwe Valar: *catch them.
VardaValar1: I was actually expecting us to go together.
Eonwe Valar: Of course one I've been asking for a while is: how tough should this sword really be to destroy, and why wouldn't we if we can?
Eonwe Valar: Aye, makes things simpler if we just depart together.
VardaValar1: Do we want to use the sword to help us locate the other half, and would it also betray us?
Eonwe Valar: And aye on the Twitter link, Indis.
Eonwe Valar: I liked that part in the extended edition, heh.
VardaValar1: Also had expected the dwarf to be the least endangered by a corrupting object, unless gold fever.
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: Maybe it's gold coated in steel? :} Coated in chocolate coated in foil! :}
Eonwe Valar: Many layers to this sword, lol.
ArPharazonV: Must be very thick.
ArPharazonV: What if we want to leave, but Elrond would rather have us wait until the Fellowship has departed, so we don't draw attention to the place by going north?
VardaValar1: That could work, Phar
Eonwe Valar: That was more or less the underlying premise I was working with for my posts since we entered Rivendell.
Eonwe Valar: Elrond not wanting us to depart before the real journey sets out.
VardaValar1: I could not resist the chocolate sword.
karakedi25: On the other hand, maybe if we draw attention to ourselves, we draw it away from the Fellowship.
karakedi25: Meren may destroy the chocolate sword by eating it.
Eonwe Valar: Well, they get far enough away before we set out, so those who don't know anything about the Ring still don't know anything, and none of us know what path they're taking.
VardaValar1: Maybe we would not know why the time, and be at the edge of the area guarded by the Ring waiting for the signal to go?
VardaValar1: We might be a decoy group?
ArPharazonV: But how would that work with us leaving after the Fellowship?
Eonwe Valar: Given the plan relied on secrecy, I'm not sure the plan would've been "let's send out a bunch of mixed-race groups to fool the Dark Lord."
ArPharazonV: Why would anyone be taking the Ring to Angmar, anyway?
Eonwe Valar: And given that we have a bit of a Hobbit shortage, the real group would stand out anyway.
ArPharazonV: "No, no, the short one's totally a Hobbit, he just hasn't shaved yet."
VardaValar1: :-)
Eonwe Valar: Orc: "And where's your comic relief Dwarf then? Huh?"
VardaValar1: Extra secrecy?
VardaValar1: Double duty dwarf
Eonwe Valar: Orc #2: (Looks at script) "Nonono, there's only one Elf! How many do we have here? 5? And only 3 are even the right kind of Elf!"
Eonwe Valar: Orc #3: "Are we filming the Helms Deep battle already?"
VardaValar1: Might still be a decoy group leaving ahead, if they don't know right when the Fellowship is leaving?
VardaValar1: ok, bad idea. :-)
VardaValar1: Why would anyone send the Ring to Mordor? Has to be headed for Minas Tirith.
Eonwe Valar: Orc Leader: "Maybe these are the stunt doubles?" (kudos if you get the reference :})
ArPharazonV: So maybe they think the real group is the decoy, and we're the real ones.
VardaValar1: hehe
ArPharazonV: And yes, Varda, that's what I was thinking. Group to the south is probably heading to Minas Tirith. Group to the east? Probably aiding Dale or Mirkwood or Lorien.
ArPharazonV: But group to the north, to Angmar? No way those are carrying the Ring.
VardaValar1: Ok, definitely not a decoy group if we go straight north.
VardaValar1: But Elroind, why do you want us to head towards the Shire first, before going towards Angmar?
ArPharazonV: And thus we fool anyone by going past angmar and the tip of the northern mountains, only to come down on the eastside again, making our way east along mordor, wrapping along to the south and infiltrating Mordor from the west.
ArPharazonV: Nobody'll see us coming.
Eonwe Valar: Elrond: "We just spent 4 of our 5 Hobbits, and the last one is too old to go adventuring. We need cooks! I mean, we need more adventurers!"
VardaValar1: Anyway, maybe Estarion the Avar knew something we didn't about the sword, chucked it at the least corruptible to carry, then boogeyed when we came too close to Elrond and his Ring?
VardaValar1: Cooks definitely
Eonwe Valar: Interesting. "Oh here, you deal with this. Bye!" Hehehe. Actually, kinda Gandalfian.... "I'm sure you guys have the whole Mirkwood Forest thing. I've got places to be. Have fun!"
VardaValar1: Ok, so we go see Elrond, he gives us a time so we feel as if progress is being made.
VardaValar1: This short respite is getting long. :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
ArPharazonV: But now we're all set, so we can go tromping around and fishing etc until Auros is done with his research. No further input needed!
VardaValar1: We won't necessarily know he's the researcher, just that it's being researched and the person will be joining us later. He might not have heard he will be joining. :-)
ArPharazonV: He'll be so disappointed. Thought he was done with us.
Eonwe Valar: Auros merely took it into his custody, I don't think he mentioned at the time he was studying it, so good point there.
Eonwe Valar: As far as the sword, at the present point in the story, there's no reason to assume the sword is tied to your task.
Eonwe Valar: "your" be the Mirkwood Elves' task, of course.
VardaValar1: We sure spent a lot of time researching it, and it was on one of the villains attacking our home.
VardaValar1: Looked suspicious to us.
VardaValar1: Had a dread effect
Eonwe Valar: Aye, but there's nothing specifically tying it to the task of heading to Angmar at this point.
Eonwe Valar: We've set up a chance for it to be tied back in with the meeting, but it hasn't been done yet.
Eonwe Valar: My point being, Elrond wouldn't be sitting there in his off-time from planning for the Ring quest, trying to plot and scheme for a way to send Auros to Angmar :}
VardaValar1: Fun stuff in the future for our characters.
VardaValar1: Really, this meeting with Elrond is just another push back and not going to amount to much. Don't need to spend a lot of time on it except to keep our group from breaking up.
VardaValar1: Frali's thinking about leaving on his own. Fainan wants to grab the other Mirkwoodites and take off.
VardaValar1: So, just a fairly quick bit to keep us together.
VardaValar1: Where is Meren at the moment?
VardaValar1: Oh, and I liked Auros' last post. :-)
karakedi25: Meren is talking with loremasters
VardaValar1: Last seen in the Hall of Fire. Would she still be there?
karakedi25: very likely
Eonwe Valar: OK, let me make sure I've got the chronology straight here:
VardaValar1: Fainan and Calion have the news from the birds, headed to gather companions and ask Elrond about leaving.
Eonwe Valar: You four are planning to step back chronologically from where I moved the time frame to have a meeting with Elrond where he tells you all to wait a few more days, then we're moving forward a couple of days from where the Fellowship departs to have the "real" meeting.
Eonwe Valar: *to fill in the gap in time between the previous posts and my last post
ArPharazonV: Sounds about right.
VardaValar1: We were supposed to wait for scout info, including birds, then see Elrond, so that's what we were working on.
VardaValar1: The reader doesn't actually know when your post is.
Eonwe Valar: When it started, no, but it ends clearly on the evening/late evening the Fellowship left.
VardaValar1: Finally, the travelers set out, and as Auros watched them disappear into the night, he thought about what he had said to Fainan several days earlier in the shadow of Erebor. "There is always hope," he whispered quietly to himself, "so long as all stand strong who stand against the Shadow."
VardaValar1: ok.
VardaValar1: We were still on our arc collecting scout info.
VardaValar1: So we're just not there yet.
Eonwe Valar: No worries, I'm not saying *don't* do it, I'm just trying to be clear so I don't mess up the chronology once it's done.
VardaValar1: Aye, working with you now.
VardaValar1: I was typing on a post and it suddenly wiped out.
VardaValar1: If something weird happens, you'll know. :-)
VardaValar1: Ok, quick post. Asking Meren if she'd like to join us. I try not to do other characters' actions for them, but hope Calion doesn't mind that I included him with me in this.
VardaValar1: It's just a couple of lines.
ArPharazonV: Nah, it's fine.
VardaValar1: Trying to do a quick back and forth while we're together.
VardaValar1: o good. :-)
ArPharazonV: He said before reading the post... *hurries to check*
ArPharazonV: Yes, that's fine :-)
VardaValar1: hehe
ArPharazonV: In the meantime I'm updating my list of possible Hearthstone decks with all the updates from April... 7 out of 9 classes done. It's tiring!
VardaValar1: We work at our playing.
ArPharazonV: Yes, we do.
karakedi25: reply posted
VardaValar1: thanks
Eonwe Valar: Hmmm, I actually your step back could tie in nicely with "Messages had already come from Lord Elrond requesting an update on his progress." from my post.
ArPharazonV: Those would be triggered by the meeting we're about to have?
Eonwe Valar: If it sounds good, why not, hehe.
AriehnV: right thhen very good read all posts
AriehnV: i ll see the rest tomorrow or soon then sleep well all :-)
AriehnV: Namarie all :-)
VardaValar1: Namarie Arien
VardaValar1: We'll meet you in Elrond's
AriehnV: all right
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie Arien!
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well Arien, belatedly :}
ArPharazonV: There, that's all done.
ArPharazonV: So. Do you want my gaming news yet? Just waiting for the aftermeeting :-)
Eonwe Valar: Will I be reprising the role of Elrond in this endeavor, or would you prefer to do the honors, Varda? Since you already know what you're going for in reactions from Elrond :} [Note: either one of us could do it, discussed later in a side window.]
Eonwe Valar: It looks like Varda's attention may be elsewhere, given this is Mother's Day, so if we didn't have any more to say on the RP, we can move to Aftermeeting.
Eonwe Valar: We can even talk about the RP in Aftermeeting if we have people still interested and posting. I see Varda and Indis have posted.
Eonwe Valar: OK, no objections... *Dusts off gavel*
top

Eonwe Valar: *Bangs gavel* Aftermeeting.
Eonwe Valar: Take it away Phar :}
ArPharazonV: Right, my personal gaming!
ArPharazonV: Flashgaming.... not much. Spent a lot of time continuing Decision 3, a zombie game which I've already mentioned a few times. There's a lot to do in there, but I think I'm getting a grip on things ;-)
ArPharazonV: But for another game to mention, I'll give you http://www.kongregate.com/games/Rob_Almighty/the-adventures-of-red
ArPharazonV: In the adventures of red, you have to solve a castle full of puzzles in order to get to the muffin at the end.
ArPharazonV: Bit simple, but add em all together and it's a good timewaster.
ArPharazonV: Not much else to say on flashgaming this week.
ArPharazonV: Hearthstone: All classes to 34 now! I have the gold to buy the last Blackrock Mountain wing too, but haven't finished wing 4 yet. Will poke the last bosses of BRM next week, probably, and then I can resume throwing my gold at more booster packs.
VardaValar1: Sorry, we're in a big family video call
VardaValar1: Thanks, Eonwe!
Eonwe Valar: No worries :}
VardaValar1: We're still in the videocall and Bilbo made a big dinner. Curry and whatnot smells sooo good.
ArPharazonV: Diablo: Played a bit of season 3 monk this weekend, got him to level 19. Getting quite powerful with the right combination of runes and passive abilities, allowing me to Tempest Rush all the enemies to death :-) While I still think it lacks flavor compared to my last hero, the witch doctor, I am starting to enjoy the monk.
VardaValar1: Ok, letting you guys chat. :-)
ArPharazonV: Diablo 3, that is.
ArPharazonV: Allright, enjoy!
ArPharazonV: WoW:
ArPharazonV: Got a new pet from the old raids, a leviathan hatchling, which is a sort of green hydra thing. Pretty big pet; if you add a biscuit it's almost the size of my actual character.
Eonwe Valar: Enjoy :}
ArPharazonV: I've made more questing progress in Gorgrond, and have finished the main storyline a second time now, this time with the other outpost building. Just a few side-quest-lines to do and then I can move on to the next zone.
ArPharazonV: We're still struggling with heroic Blackhand while raiding, and with most of the group having completed the quest that allows us to open the door to him directly, we have dedicated this raidweek to fighting him. Best attempt so far, 38%.
ArPharazonV: Also, Darkmoon Faire has ended again, but not before I got all the new racing achievements for this month. One of the rewards being, a large blinking arrow sign which I can put down anywhere. Might be fun in raids :-)
ArPharazonV: And that's my gaming news for the past week!
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
Eonwe Valar: I popped into LotRO and killed my last Craban in Eregion :}
ArPharazonV: Grats!
Eonwe Valar: so, so 200-ish Crebain slain in that go.
ArPharazonV: Eonwe the birdslayer.
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, thanks :}
ArPharazonV: Allright, saving and sending transcript.
