AriehnV: I quote from her email : " Coordinating the schedules between
three households and two towns left us going today. Fangorn, Sauron,
and I will be driving over to Elwing and DeepGroover-T to see the
Ant-man movie and catch up on modeling and painting news." [Note: Ant-man isn't out until next week as we all realized on the road, so we saw Terminator:Genisys. Fun with models, too!]
AriehnV: So i hope they are having a great day and much fun together and catch up as well!
ArPharazonV: Agreed!

I'm not sure if I'll be loose long enough to put up something for the
Tolkien Site, looking as if I'll hit the ground running after this
email."

Gaming:
AriehnV: Warcraft: See highlights of the Timewalking dungeons:
Halls of Lightning
and
Gundrak. Check out the
latest hotfixes.
ArPharazonV: Looks like she didn't put anything up then :-)
AriehnV: Have you tried out timewalking yet?
ArPharazonV: I have, in the first weekend, when it was the focus of the weekend, with a special quest for it.
ArPharazonV: Not too difficult.
ArPharazonV: Nostalgic though!
ArPharazonV: Unfortunately, as I'm a raider, the gear you get from
timewalking isn't an improvement for me. But it's good for alts and
non-raiders.
AriehnV: very good :-)
AriehnV: oh do we have played any non WoW - Non Lotro games yet?
AriehnV: the last week?
AriehnV: I have played Archeage and Eve a bit but didnt manage to do anything with Sauron this tme
ArPharazonV: D3, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, some flashgames... but I'll give my report in the end to keep the main meeting clean :-) For D3 there's a new patch on the PTR, I think, or an update.. season 4 has started there, anyway. Not on the live servers yet though.
ArPharazonV: That being Diablo 3, anyway.
ArPharazonV: There's a Hearthstone blog up in the form of an Innkeeper-story that hints at some new future content.
ArPharazonV: For the general Valar crowd I'll give the US version at http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/blog/19822385/
ArPharazonV: Rumors vary from Argent Tournament expansion to
purchaseable mounts (not sure how those would fit in the game) and
pretty much anything between.
ArPharazonV: And I think that's it for general news for those games.
AriehnV: Very nice thank you :-)
top
AriehnV: Do you have any suggesion for Tolkien that is fit for my mind state :-)?
[Note: Eonwe posted to the forum rp.]
AriehnV: or for my brain state rather hehe
ArPharazonV: We could make a simple trivia quiz ;-)
AriehnV: else ..yes you take out of my mouth Phari :-)
ArPharazonV: Who starts? You're first alphabetically :-)
AriehnV: all right
AriehnV: .. hmmm lets start simple and easy Lotr but you can take from any book you want
AriehnV: Before Bilbo went on his second final
adventure to leave Bag End he planned something special for his party
.. why was this party so special and what things in the organnisation
of the party made it clear that it was special indeed?
ArPharazonV: It was both his and his nephew Frodo's birthday!
ArPharazonV: He turned 111, a number of some respect, and frodo came of age with 33.
ArPharazonV: Together, 144, a "gross", which was also how many were invited to the central dinner and speech.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, did I miss anything?
AriehnV: one thing .. actually two
ArPharazonV: That it was 60 years after his own adventure?
ArPharazonV: Or his speech and disappearance?
AriehnV: The fireworks and the signs that went up .. as well as the
invitations of the party which were written in golden ink :-)
ArPharazonV: Ah!
ArPharazonV: More details than I could remember :-)
ArPharazonV: Well, let me think.
ArPharazonV: Name 5 hobbit families mentioned in Bilbo's speech as he addressed them!
ArPharazonV: Sorry for formulating it so much more simple than you did ;-)
AriehnV: Proudfoot .. err Proudefeet, Bolger, Boffin , Bracegirdle , Sackheim-Beutlin
ArPharazonV: ...Sackheim-Beutlin?
AriehnV: yes at the very end :-)
ArPharazonV: I'll.. have to look that up.
AriehnV: feel free :-)
ArPharazonV: Ack, grabbed the wrong book.
ArPharazonV: ..Right, of course, the Sackville-Bagginses. Not sure where your name come from? Do you have the German version?
ArPharazonV: But it'll do for the question ;-) Another round?
AriehnV: Sackville . Bagginses . yes darn it lol thats from the German version
AriehnV: yeah another round
AriehnV: why did Strider tell Frodo to stop Merry and
Pippin tellling stories in the Prancing Pony and how did he do that
exacty :-)?
ArPharazonV: Possibly because strangers were listening in, but I don't remember how.
ArPharazonV: That scene doesn't sound very familiar :-)
AriehnV: tsk ..
AriehnV: Merry and Pippin were telling stories about the Mayor Willy Whitfoot if you remember :-)
AriehnV: and Strider was worried about something . because they mentioned the leaving party and the speach .
AriehnV: does that ring a bell?
ArPharazonV: Not really. But if I recall the scene generally, I assume
that Frodo stopped them talking about it by jumping on the table and
singing a song?
AriehnV: yes .. indeed .. the fiddling cat song in fact :-) .. and
Strider was worried they would mention the ring in their sillyness
ArPharazonV: And Frodo made it worse by going invisible!
AriehnV: and the cow jumped over the moon and the man in the moon .. indeed Phari :-)
AriehnV: but yes thats what happenened *nods*
AriehnV: your turn
ArPharazonV: Right, sorry, was distracted. Let's see...
ArPharazonV: Related question again; what four names did the hobbits give to Butterbur as they checked in?
AriehnV: Meriadoc Brandybuck, Peregrin Took , Samwise Gamgee and .. Frodo .. Underhill
ArPharazonV: They only gave one first name, but it'll do :D
AriehnV: :-)
AriehnV: what Pipeweed was found amongst Sarumans flotsam?
ArPharazonV: Longbottom Leaf?
ArPharazonV: Vaguely recall Merry giving his last to Pippin in the end.. or other way around.
AriehnV: correct :-)
ArPharazonV: Yay for weird memory associations.
ArPharazonV: My bonus question, under what circumstances did one of the hobbits give their pipeweed up for the other? :-)
AriehnV: hmmm i remember Frodo offering Saruman some tobacco .. when
they met him on the road .. i cant remember where exactly that was
AriehnV: was that near Bywater?
ArPharazonV: I meant Merry and Pippin.
AriehnV: uh ...
AriehnV: I cant remember that
ArPharazonV: That's if I'm remembering it right, anyway.
ArPharazonV: NOt a guarantee.
ArPharazonV: Houses of Healing, I think.
ArPharazonV: Feel free to correct me if you have RotK with you.
AriehnV: just c hecking
AriehnV: /
AriehnV: "Master Meriadoc .." said
Aragorn, "if you think that I have passed through the mountains and the
realm of Gondor with fire and sword to bring herps to a careless
soldier who throws away his gear, you are mistaken"#
AriehnV: "If your pack has not been found, then you must send for the
herp-master of this House. And he will tell you that he did not know
that the herb you desire had some virtues, but that it is called
woestmansweed by the vulgar, and galenas by the noble and other names
in other tounges ore learned, and after adding a few half-forgotten
rhyumes that he does not understand
AriehnV: "he wil regetfully inform you that there is none in the House,
and he will leave you to reflect on the history of tounges" .. break
quote
AriehnV: contine further down " My dear ass, your pack is lying by your
bed and you had it on your back when i found you. he saw it all the
time! Anyway I have my stuff of my own!" .. end quote
AriehnV: it was not there i fear ^^ but it is a brilliant scene to mention and i love it :-)
AriehnV: thanks for that !
ArPharazonV: I misremembered then!
ArPharazonV: Can happen.
AriehnV: Its all right :-)
AriehnV: It doesnt matter and i suggest , since we had our tolkien
moment and a bit of trivia we call it for now , at least the official
part.
ArPharazonV: Sure.
top
AriehnV: "Brings out a big mirror and shines bright rays in the mirror that flare bright in a certain rhythm" .. it spells .. Aftermeeting!¬
ArPharazonV: Not allowed to borrow Varda's gavel?
AriehnV: uh .. she gave it Eonwe to polish!
ArPharazonV: Right! Hmm.
ArPharazonV: Personal gaming!
ArPharazonV: Humhumhum, looking for some flashgames...
ArPharazonV: Right, got 2 for you this week.
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/oivoi/soccer-physics
is a 2 v 2 soccer match which basically feels very random. You can only
do one thing which is making your characters jump, the AI does the same
thing, and you have to get the ball in their goal more often than they
do in yours.
ArPharazonV: There are also several environmental modifiers, but they don't do too much.
ArPharazonV: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/ribitation
is the other game! Simple puzzly platformer where you play a frog that
can't jump, but can climb ladders and move blocks, to collect keys and
reach the exit for every level.
ArPharazonV: Some require some thinking, indeed!
AriehnV: hehe kind of fun this soccer .. just played a quick one and won 5 - 0 :-)
ArPharazonV: I can see you're skilled at it already!
ArPharazonV: Hearthstone: Still
going along. No new levels yet, but there was a new Tavern Brawl this
week which, for every spell you cast, you got a random minion of the
same cost as the spell.
ArPharazonV: Had some fun with a 30-spell priest deck :-)
ArPharazonV: Also played some Heroes of the Storm,
but no news there. The Diablo event is still ongoing, which means 100
gold from a treasure goblin whenever you play your first match of the
day!
ArPharazonV: Diablo 3: Put a
bit more time in my seasonal monk this weekend, but it didn't help all
too much. Got 5 levels, from 63 to 68. Should reach level 70 next week,
finally.
ArPharazonV: World of Warcraft:
ArPharazonV: Where to start!
ArPharazonV: We had Darkmoon Faire this week, which came with something
new: A vendor near the docks, which sold a bunch of items for daggermaw
fish you could fish on the island.
ArPharazonV: Stuff sold are two pets, one toy, 3 cooking recipes, and
an item that starts a short series of quests in the form of a
treasure-hunt.
ArPharazonV: There are also some consumables, but the things mentioned
above, which I went for, cost 360 fish total. So if you want them,
better get fishing next time it comes along again :-)
ArPharazonV: There's also a new achievement there, rewarding a Hogger pet.
ArPharazonV: I got a silly-looking spore pet from a rare mob in Spires
of Arak as well, but none from the old raids. Better luck next time!
ArPharazonV: I finished everything I wanted to do with the Gearworks in
my garrison, including getting all 9 of the objectives on the
achievement for it, even though I only needed 6. Now I can replace it
with the Mage Tower when that project is due!
ArPharazonV: And I also did the quest for the jukebox in the garrison!
Getting more music for it other than the default tunes is quite a
collection project, there are dozens of them all over the game, usually
in tough raids.
ArPharazonV: So fun to get that started. I also snatched the music roll
for the Darkmoon Carousel while the Darkmoon Faire is up, so now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqj-p6zEgy8 is blasting permanently
through my garrison until I choose otherwise ;-) This is going to be a
fun little project indeed.
AriehnV: nice :-)
ArPharazonV: Still doing heroic instances for the coins I need for a
short heirloom-related quest-series. First 3 quests done, for the
fourth (out of four) I'm halfway with collecting. Only 25 coins to go,
with any luck I'll get all that next week.
ArPharazonV: For raids, we won the Hellfire Assault fight on heroic
difficulty, and got around halfway for the heroic Iron Reaver fight. So
progress is being made! On normal we're still struggling on some sort
of giant void revenant whose name I can never remember. Or pronounce.
ArPharazonV: I did get my first setpiece for the new tier today, on normal. Hopefully the second one won't wait too long.
ArPharazonV: And I think that's my news for this week!
ArPharazonV: Have you got anything new?
ArPharazonV: Oh, as an afterthought...
ArPharazonV: The first half of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
season 5 ended yesterday, with a few months' hiatus (and the third
movie) until the second half. Yesterday's episode just blew me away
with the (rare) focus on one of my favorite characters and a ton of
fan-pandering callback in the second half of the episode.
ArPharazonV: In fact, out of the last 5 episodes, 3 of them have been
undeniably amazing for those of us who have been in the fandom for
years, calling back to the very first episode and referencing a ton of
old episodes along the way, as well as drawing a lot of inspiration and
confirmation of things that the fandom has come up with and has had as
"headcanon", or "fanon" for a long time.
AriehnV: sounds exciting
ArPharazonV: Just mentioning this as an absolute peak in the history of
the show, and that if anyone reading this is a fan but has not caught
up yet, I strongly advise you to watch episodes 9, 12 and 13 of season
5 as soon as you have the time :-) And of course as a thank you to the
creators! ;-)
ArPharazonV: Now I'm just hoping the second half will be half as good *grin*
AriehnV has left the room.
AriehnV has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiyata
ArPharazonV: Allright, saving and sending transcript
