In Shelob's lair, Frodo brings out the phial of Galadriel and calls out
in Quenya, ‘Aiya Eärendil Elenion Ancalima!’
At this point, he brings on a battle between very high
level forces, all with one item in the hand of a hobbit. What's going
on? To him, it's not much more than a really good torch to worry back a
huge spider. Is there anything more than that on either side?

VardaValar1: Also, transfers off of Vilya server on Monday, seems as if
that could get sticky going on at the same time. I have some there to
bring home to Landroval.
VardaValar1: Brandwine and Evernight will have transfers off closed, giving Arkenstone and Gwaihir servers their turn.
VardaValar1: Then Tuesday, Meneldor server to complete the US closing worlds.
VardaValar1: Snowbourne will be another week or two, since it's so large and they have to add more capacity.
VardaValar1: That's all the LotRO news for the moment. :-)

ArPharazonV: A descendant of Ungoliant faced down by a fragment of the light she once tried to consume.
ArPharazonV: I like it!

VardaValar1: Where does the light come from?
ArPharazonV: Ultimately from the Silmaril carried by Earendil up in the skies, and captured in the phial by Galadriel.
VardaValar1: And why was Shelob present in the tunnel?
ArPharazonV: Good place to feed on orcs and intruders into Mordor.
AriehnV: uhm she fled there maybe a survivor of the Assault on
Thangorodrim or fled the fortress before that when Sauron and ungolian
were defeated maybe?
VardaValar1: and found a place where she was encouraged to stay. Why was she wanted there and by whom?
AriehnV: decendant of Ungoliant .. direct? , she served as excellent
guardian of the hidden pass althiough she just might have found it a
convenent hiding spot with easy access to food
ArPharazonV: Sauron didn't mind spending the occasional orc if she kept the tunnel clear.
VardaValar1: What served her purpose happened to serve another's so that she could remain.
VardaValar1: Aye
ArPharazonV: Not sure why the orcs didn't just blow up the tunnel and get rid of both invaders and the hungry hungry spider.
ArPharazonV: ..Oh, right, they didn't yet have explosives until Saruman invented it.
VardaValar1: Sauron wanted her there. They couldn't go against him.
ArPharazonV: "She's still in there! She just can't get out!"
VardaValar1: She had found herself a good home, plenty of food, lots of safe tunnels.
VardaValar1: She served Sauron's purpose, and therefore Morgoth's. Shades of Ungoliant again.
ArPharazonV: I wonder if Shelob was happy there.
VardaValar1: Probably contented
VardaValar1: Lack of Mirkwood male spiders, but maybe she was tired of them for crispy crunchies.
VardaValar1: So we have the forces of light and dark coming together
against each other in this tunnel, brought in by Frodo in this one
picture.
ArPharazonV: Unfortunately, Frodo still got stung.
VardaValar1: *eyes gavel, wondering why it arcs*
VardaValar1: Frodo thought he was safe, went running out of the tunnel into the light. Giddy, got stung in the back.
VardaValar1: Sam inherited the use of the phial too. Wonder who all expected that!
ArPharazonV: Possibly Galadriel.
VardaValar1: Aye, and maybe Gandalf who sent him.
VardaValar1: or figured on him as potential backup.
ArPharazonV: Always good to have a backup system.
VardaValar1: True. Four hobbits should just about do it. :-)
AriehnV: if Saruman invented explosives .. Gandalf changed their use somewhat for pleasure than destruction :-)
ArPharazonV: The quest stands on the edge of the knife. Stray but a little, and we'll have another hobbit lined up behind you.
VardaValar1: In real life, black powder was originally for fireworks,
military use was later. Perhaps it was the same in Middle-earth.
VardaValar1: hehehe - well said, Phar
ArPharazonV: Ah, yes, of course. Fireworks were around for a few years longer, at least.
VardaValar1: Both of you have things you want to discuss in After-meeting, so...

is the first! I found it this week as it recently joined another
website I visit, but as always for consistency, I will put in the kong
url even though it's years old.
VardaValar1: Feel free to put in the new one too if you like. Consistency is a good idea too.
ArPharazonV: 2d platformer where you have to go up through a tower of
floors and areas to avoid the rising acid. Simple, perhaps cliche idea,
but there's a story around it and things to collect.

ArPharazonV: And the other 2 I also found on kongregate as badges of the day earlier this week, even though they're older.

is the sequel to "this is the only level" wherein you have to navigate
the same easy level over and over, but with an interesting twist every
time around.
ArPharazonV: and http://www.kongregate.com/games/TogeProductions/necronator-2
is an RTS/defense game with upgrades for your army and spells, whereby
you have to conquer all the land with batallions of units that can
auto-path.
ArPharazonV: Been updated a few times with more units and races, too.
ArPharazonV: Now, blizzard games!
ArPharazonV: Hearthstone: 4 out
of 9 classes are level 38 now, and the other 5 are really close behind.
I haven't progressed further into the adventure wings, but I'll get
around to that at some point, I'm sure!
ArPharazonV: The patch mentioned earlier is a special one, with 3 new
card backs revealed, including one for the Winter Veil holiday, but how
to get that or how Winter Veil is implemented, we don't know. Rumors
say that it'll have to do with an upcoming tavern brawl.
ArPharazonV: Heroes of the Storm: Still
messing around with more heroes, and bought the Second Chance Bundle
for Black Friday, with mounts and skins that were only available again
for a short time after being retired a long time ago. Just couldn't
resist ;-)
ArPharazonV: I don't think I'll buy the Covert Ops mission pack in
Starcraft II for a while though, if ever. I don't like the business
model of adding new storyline content in little pay-wall packages which
have, traditionally, been free updates in the past, like Diablo 3
patches or the Orc campaign in Frozen Throne.
ArPharazonV: Besides, I'm not a Nova fan.
ArPharazonV: But hey, it's Blizzard's game, their decision.
ArPharazonV: WoW: (where updates also generally tend to be free, unless it's cosmetic stuff, while the subscription fee stays the same)
ArPharazonV: Am doing very well in Tanaan! 2 of the 3 factions revered
now, and the other only about a thousand rep behind. 2 of the story
arcs for Tanaan completed as well, and a bunch of rares and all 4
champions killed for the achievement. Been making good progress indeed,
and if I wanted to go for it I could probably start on the 100
treasures next week, to finish the achievement needed to unlock flight.
ArPharazonV: I also collected a new pet from Tanaan, the Fel Pup, cute little green doggy.
ArPharazonV: As for raiding, we killed Archimonde, the last boss, on
Heroic difficulty today :-) Got a big achievement for it, a new mount
for everyone from a special little questline starting with a guaranteed
drop from the boss on heroic, and personally the heroic version of the
class trinket.
ArPharazonV: We'll probably farm the last few bosses on heroic for a
while, and move on to Mythic difficulty soon, something we did not
manage to do in the earlier 2 raids this expansion before the next raid
came out.
ArPharazonV: This'll truly be the highest difficulty of this expansion, and we've got until summer to see how far we get!
VardaValar1: Nice. Hope it lasts you at least a week. :-)

ArPharazonV: In the mythic 5-man dungeons I've been going nicely as well, getting 4 of the 5 heirloom trinkets. One to go!
ArPharazonV: what, the mount, the trinket, or mythic difficulty? :-)
ArPharazonV: the difficulty should be quite a pain, it's a huge gap
from heroic to mythic, with whole new abilities and very little margin
for error
VardaValar1: Gaming lasting til summer
ArPharazonV: but only time will tell!
ArPharazonV: and yes, it should last quite a while, not sure if we'll make it!
ArPharazonV: And that should be my news for this week!

AriehnV: I finally started "shadows of Revan" on SwotR
ArPharazonV: Oh, and mount is very nice, a big shiny moose that can
also fly (unless you're in Draenor and can't fly there yet ;-))
AriehnV: which is the previous expansion before the last ^^

ArPharazonV: And I thought I was behind on my MMO content :-)
AriehnV: nice one Phar :-) no , hehe your not the only one
AriehnV: i think there is a special achievement if you do the full contentr with all eight classes
AriehnV: four Republic and four Empire
ArPharazonV: That sounds like it must take a while.
AriehnV: there are leve specialists who manage to level a character
very fast to top level within a few days but if you do all the story
questlines i think it does
ArPharazonV: Ah, a bit like Diablo 3 then, I guess?
AriehnV: in that sense yess
AriehnV: i see more and more parallels to familiar games , many of which are Blizzards, in there ^^
AriehnV: even some of the boss fights in solo dungeons looked somewhat familiar ;-)
ArPharazonV: They're good at starting trends, that's true.
AriehnV: uhm else .. i ve been playing a little bit LotrO too :-) and the guardian is up to level 78 now :-) and questing around Parth Galen and and Amon Hen :-)
ArPharazonV: Don't fall down the waterfall! Seems very high.
AriehnV: I ll take care :-) havent fallen down much in Lotro yet while in WoW i fell down everything you possibly can i think ^^
AriehnV: including Nexus and Thunder Bluff ..
ArPharazonV: is LotRO safer that way?
AriehnV: seems to be sometimes :-)
ArPharazonV: And yes, I think Thunder Bluff is famous for that.

AriehnV: and when you fall down somewhere in LotrO you end up with a fall damage and your toon limps for a while

subscription wiill last until mid March and then i ll stop it again ,
since it takes too much time to really enjoy or explore fully and i
lack that from playing other mmo's that I find easer to get into]

getting with the traing of my pilots somewhere so they can do decent
damage

AriehnV: being able to run incursions with a fleet if i could ever find
a fleet .. but then Corps often demand more activity then i am able to
give

AriehnV: or actually do Wormholes but again dont have the time for it

AriehnV: and very often i am at work during the day as well so not very often available for corp actions
AriehnV: so .. that makes it difficult to make the subscription worthwhile
