Before-meeting
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
AriehnV has entered the room.
AriehnV: Aiya all L:-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya both!
VardaValar1: Aiya Golden One and Sunshine. :-)
AriehnV: :-D
PallandoValar has entered the room.
PallandoValar: Aiya
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Aiya Pallando :-)
AriehnV: aiya Pallando :-)

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: The gang is still blowing and going, after all this time. Grats to all of you for making it happen!
VardaValar1: Any membership news you would like to bring up?
ArPharazonV: Personally, finally watched The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug!
ArPharazonV: Extended Edition, too.
ArPharazonV: Now I gotta wait most of a year for the next one :-)
VardaValar1: Congratulations :-)
VardaValar1: It's like waiting for a whole new movie, with these times. Keep us interested, anyway.
ArPharazonV: And I've decided to expand my literary experience even
further than Tolkien and Discworld... 1300 pages of the complete
collection of Shakespeare caught my eye.
ArPharazonV: And yes, it is :-)
VardaValar1: Excellent. Go for it. Now you will be sure to naturally
fall into the correct usages of thee and thou, etc. Good idea, and fun.
:-)
ArPharazonV: Haha, probably.
VardaValar1: And just how many levels a play can actually cater to.
top
VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: Nothing new on the Tolkien Site, some slacker hasn't put anything up. *cough*
VardaValar1: Would love to see stuff from the Full Member gang, know
you all have talent, can cough up articles, even short ones, now and
then. :-) Me too, ahem.
VardaValar1: The Games Site is up with News.
VardaValar1: We can go into that next
top
VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Feel free to break in if you have some general news on these. From Eonwe:
VardaValar1: WoW:
VardaValar1: See the
PTR patch notes
and the
recent hotfixes.
VardaValar1: Also check out the 6.2 preview blog on
Timewalking.
VardaValar1: There's also a new blog:
Mastering the Menagerie.
VardaValar1: StarCraft 2:
VardaValar1: Season Two 2015
is here.
VardaValar1: See the
latest beta patch notes
for Legacy of the Void.
VardaValar1: Also see the
Legacy of the Void Beta: Balance Update Preview.
VardaValar1: Diablo 3:
VardaValar1: Patch 2.2.1
is on the PTR.
VardaValar1: Hearthstone:
VardaValar1: Now Open:
Blackrock Mountain: Blackrock Spire.
ArPharazonV: Fun bosses in that one!
VardaValar1: Patch 2.5.0.8416
was released. You can now play Hearthstone on your iOS and Android phones.
VardaValar1: That's it for the Games Site. Quite a bit of news there.
VardaValar1: StarCraft 2 [note SWTOR, not SC2]: Sauron would love to see more of the gang. He's been enjoying running with Arien.
VardaValar1: His branch [note: on The Ebon Hawke server] also has an unusual extra for us, due to the nature of the game.
VardaValar1: He can bring in guild-friends as friends, instead of leaving them completely out.
VardaValar1: That can expand the base a lot.
VardaValar1: One of our Pathfinder gamers and some of the others once in a while have taken advantage of that.
VardaValar1: Any other comments, business, suggestions, gripes, cheers?
top
VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: Anyone present please type Bilbo.
VardaValar1: Bilbo
ArPharazonV: Bilbo
VardaValar1: We had a few suggestions for the Tolkien chat. Two are
movie-related, so let's start with that. [Note: second was even too
spoilery for folks in the chat.]
VardaValar1: Spoiler alert.
VardaValar1: Phar, you just got through watching the Desolation of Smaug. Did you want to make any comments?
AriehnV: Bilbo
ArPharazonV: Well, obviously I try to treat it as a different variation
rather than a direct adaptation, and some things I liked while others
not so much.
VardaValar1: (error correction above: Sauron was talking about SWTOR, not SC2.)
ArPharazonV: Not a big fan of Kili's arc and all that's involved in
there, including the romance plot, the separation of the dwarves,
etc... though it did give some more focus to Bard and Laketown, which
was interesting.
ArPharazonV: On the other hand, some of the extra scenes inside Erebor were fun to watch, and I liked the Dol Guldur stuff too.
VardaValar1: They did try to give more characterization to the dwarves, not quite so much the book feeling of Dwarf#3, Dwarf#6.
ArPharazonV: Yes, that's true. And I understand that separating their stories gives them all some extra focus.
ArPharazonV: Or most of them anyway.
ArPharazonV: But it was just too big a departure, and some bits were just.. awkward.
ArPharazonV: In my opinion, anyway!
VardaValar1: Just wish they'd quit the movie idea of Gandalf's staff being broken or his cowboying ahead.
ArPharazonV: Interesting to see Sauron in action though.
VardaValar1: They did go far afield with the dwarves. Fili's death was much less heroic, in my opinion.
ArPharazonV: Well, I haven't seen the third movie yet ;-)
ArPharazonV: Not that I mind spoilers.
VardaValar1: oops. Stopping on that part now.
ArPharazonV: For what it's worth, Gandalf's staff going phooy was in the second one!
VardaValar1: :-)
AriehnV: going phooy?
AriehnV: what do you mean?
ArPharazonV: It seemed to me like it decayed or dissolved. Was a neat effect.
ArPharazonV: Erebor-scenes with the forge was interesting, though the
giant molten statue (spoilering too much?) was rather overkill
VardaValar1: Any excuse for a golden dragon. :-)
VardaValar1: Beautiful
ArPharazonV: That's true!
ArPharazonV: Golden dragon looked nice.
ArPharazonV: Though I can't help wonder if it should've covered up the weak spot.
VardaValar1: Good point.
ArPharazonV: Anyway, plenty of points here that you can extend into a
topic if you want, like Sauron's appearance, the inner makings of
Erebor as seen in the movie, or Lake-town politics... but I assume you
want to continue on :-) Overall it was worth it, definitely! Looking
forward to seeing the third movie.
VardaValar1: Sauron-(Valar) has a suggestion on a topic: how magic can affect the nature of warfare. Shows up in Middle-earth!
VardaValar1: First
VardaValar1: Pallando needs this break-in point for his section, just came free.
PallandoValar: So, same same for Eve.
PallandoValar: Changes! Strife! Excitement!
VardaValar1: hehehe
PallandoValar: There's a huge amount of shakeup going on in the nullsec politics right now.
PallandoValar: Lots of newbie-friendly groups popping up.
PallandoValar: (in addtion to all of the ones that were there before)
VardaValar1: Nullsec?
PallandoValar: The lawless bit of Eve that generats all of the stores that actually make the BBC and the NY Times and stuff.
PallandoValar: stories*
AriehnV: security zone zero and less
AriehnV: basically open pvp area
PallandoValar: Yup
AriehnV: anyone to go there can be killed without persecution varda
VardaValar1: Sounds like a pvp area all right. :-)
AriehnV: Normally in the high sec zones npcs come hunting the ones who kill poor lowbies ^^
PallandoValar: CONCORDOKEN!
VardaValar1: No Honor for that in LOTRO, so it's not so profitable.
PallandoValar: anyways, lots of changes happening in that bit of the game, and those are making the rest of it all exciting too
VardaValar1: Concordoken?
PallandoValar: both player-politics changes and game dev stuff
PallandoValar: COCORD are the police that come after you in high security space if you're a bad person
PallandoValar: CONCORD
PallandoValar: CONCORD ensure that the person who shot you will also
explode.. they might not save you, but they will get revenge.
PallandoValar: it's literally an exploit to avoid them in any way. Thus, CONCORDOKEN
PallandoValar: anyways
VardaValar1: Neat
PallandoValar: Changes! Strife! Excitement!
PallandoValar: My corp is doing its thing in/around high and low sec. Wormholes too, all very fun.
PallandoValar: I maintain the offican Valar corp, but your best bet to contact me ingame is throughmy main, Debes Sparre
PallandoValar: or email me through the email that's on the membership page to get a 30 day trial
PallandoValar: If you want to check it out, I can drown you in gifts and money
PallandoValar: so.. do! it's fun! explosions.
ArPharazonV: (bit afk, heading into a 5-man, will show up to talk now and then)
VardaValar1: Enjoy!
VardaValar1: yay explosions!
PallandoValar: my fleet calls me as well, back in a bit
VardaValar1: Namarie :-)
VardaValar1: Folks, that hammer is calling from the shelf.
VardaValar1: Why would Aule put a signaler in it?
ArPharazonV: I thought you had more topics?
AriehnV: did he use mithril as material?
top
ArPharazonV: Ah, right, magic in warfare.
VardaValar1: I thought everyone was leaving. :-)
ArPharazonV: Still half away.
ArPharazonV: But I can add stuff now and then.
ArPharazonV: Saruman's explosives weren't exactly magic.
ArPharazonV: Then again, there was that saying about sufficiently advanced technology..
VardaValar1: It was something others didn't understand, so to them it was. A rock that burns or explodes?
VardaValar1: Right. :-)
VardaValar1: It's something the LotRO lore-master is based on.
VardaValar1: How about actual magic?
ArPharazonV: Makes it good against sieges.
ArPharazonV: If you're in a magically enchanted tower like Orthanc.
VardaValar1: Morgoth and his Ring: pouring his power into the earth of Arda itself, using it to power minions and devices.
VardaValar1: True, a very strong material hard for ents to break.
VardaValar1: Magical beings might also count as magic: ents, elves, dwarves
ArPharazonV: Makes for good weaponry too.
VardaValar1: Aye.
VardaValar1: Glowing proximity warnings built into blades.
ArPharazonV: Yes!
ArPharazonV: Nazgul on the team help as well.
VardaValar1: Gollum. He's on his own team.
VardaValar1: Hobbits - great for stealthing into places, whether they're for the Fellowship or Gollum.
ArPharazonV: Or for a company of dwarves.
VardaValar1: The Rings used by the elves and Gandalf.
VardaValar1: Mostly the elves used the rings for security and maintenance, big-time.
ArPharazonV: Still an advantage in war, though.
ArPharazonV: May your blades never dull..
VardaValar1: :-)
VardaValar1: Gandalf's staff - blasting at air-borne nazgul.
VardaValar1: Tough on a balrog too.
ArPharazonV: The balrog itself, for that matter. Or a dragon. Anything with good manipulation of fire.
VardaValar1: Arien is a fire spirit, as are some of her friends.
ArPharazonV: Not very active in war, though.
ArPharazonV: Although it helped Fingolfin's march.
VardaValar1: Sunlight alone is a mighty weapon.
VardaValar1: Sauron and Morgoth both put up reeks in the air to defend against light.
VardaValar1: Possible magic weaponry: One Ring, Galadriel's mirror and phial, Gandalf's staff, effects on Aragorn's sword.
VardaValar1: Rings that turn even strong human kings into wraiths.
ArPharazonV: Any elf sword withn an orc-detection.
VardaValar1: Necromancy
VardaValar1: Aye
VardaValar1: Possession of the dead in the Barrow-downs by Maia fear: wights.
ArPharazonV: Things that go boom!
ArPharazonV: Including a rather interesting battering ram. But that also might be more technology.
VardaValar1: It's a fantasy novel, allowed to have magic, even if
Galadriel doesn't want people to call what she does by the same name of
magic that Sauron does.
VardaValar1: The sources of their magic may be different, or the uses of them.
VardaValar1: Still, it all seems to come from similar places, just one is corrupted, misused.
ArPharazonV: Lembas a form of magic?
ArPharazonV: Should aid on those long marches.
ArPharazonV: And feed people in a siege.
ArPharazonV: Doesn't seem practical for large numbers of people though.
VardaValar1: Galadriel didn't want her magic to be equated with
Sauron's, when she was seeking redemption and a chance to go back home
to Valinor.
VardaValar1: Lembas were special, only given out by special people for special tasks.
VardaValar1: Not normal waybread.
VardaValar1: Lots of items are borderline, where we don't know if it's tech or magic.
VardaValar1: Some are clearer than others.
ArPharazonV: Big flaming eye, for example...
VardaValar1: That one is more movie than book, but aye. :-)
VardaValar1: Gollum saw Sauron, said he was missing one finger on his blackened hand.
VardaValar1: Charred a bit?
ArPharazonV: He was wearing finger armor when we last saw him.
ArPharazonV: But that might also have been movie ;-)
VardaValar1: Could be a good way to hide a missing finger after Isildur cut it off. :-)
VardaValar1: Finger armor vs Narsil - Narsil won!
ArPharazonV: He should've had his armor made around the Ring, that way Isildur would never have seen it.
VardaValar1: Showing off his powerful and beautiful Ring, that he made
himself? Pride? Or it doesn't fit well under a metal gauntlet?
VardaValar1: Pride or Practicality. Sounds like a title. :-)
ArPharazonV: Close to a Jane Austen novel.
VardaValar1: Similar flavor.
ArPharazonV: Bit of arrogance perhaps, that Isildur wouldn't be able to get it from him anyway.
VardaValar1: If Gil-galad and Elendil were having trouble, it was a reasonable assumption.
VardaValar1: But Sauron was down when Isildur cut off the Ring.
ArPharazonV: Not enough time to get a new gauntlet made!
VardaValar1: Weregild for his father, was his excuse for keeping it.
VardaValar1: Gave Aragorn a claim to it, in a way, as an heirloom of his house. ewww
ArPharazonV: The finger, or the ring?
VardaValar1: Ring :-)
ArPharazonV: Would've been interesting if his armored finger was still attached.
ArPharazonV: More difficult to use though.
VardaValar1: Gollum made the mistake of leaving the Ring attached to
Frodo's finger a mite too long. Can be hazardous, as the Ring thinks
it's still attached to the body with the finger.
ArPharazonV: Not too bright, that Ring.
VardaValar1: Tarnished
VardaValar1: There's a lot more magic, but let's call it here and give you a chance to tell your gaming. :-)
ArPharazonV: I just left WoW :-)
VardaValar1: Great timing for your report.
ArPharazonV: Only if it's aftermeeting!
VardaValar1: I'm cooking in LotRO, really cooking. Baked Beans, Apple and Pear Soup. :-)
ArPharazonV: Ooh.
VardaValar1: *hammer flies to Varda's outstretched hand*
VardaValar1: *ker-whammmm!*
PallandoValar: God-modding, right there. >.>
VardaValar1: *gingerly sets it back on the shelf*
VardaValar1: Well, Valie. :-)
ArPharazonV: Valar are allowed.
top
VardaValar1: After-meeting!
ArPharazonV: Allright, personal gaming!
ArPharazonV: I'll start with a few flashgames. Short and simple ones, mostly, but still fun!
VardaValar1: (Farming is real here too. Lots of planting of seeds and growing crops.)
ArPharazonV: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/glow_path Sliding puzzle game where you have to match up pieces to get an uninterrupted water flow.
ArPharazonV: or... light flow, I guess.
ArPharazonV: Actually, seems it's on Kongregate too, so let's stay consistent. http://www.kongregate.com/games/Gamemanager/glow-path
ArPharazonV: then there's http://www.kongregate.com/games/keybol/kill-the-plumber which is a puzzle platformer that gives you a Mario game.. from the other side :-)
ArPharazonV: And the weirdest game I've played this week is http://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/treadmillasaurus-rex
ArPharazonV: The name says it all, really. Stay on a treadmill, avoid obstacles.
VardaValar1: Hamsters to the rescue!
ArPharazonV: Hearthstone... did the Blackrock Spire quite quickly, with fun boss mechanics this time round. I actually had to make a custom deck for one!
VardaValar1: Fun
PallandoValar: ooh, reminds me, I'm playing warframe again
VardaValar1: Enjoying it?
PallandoValar: eh
PallandoValar: it's fun for the first bit
PallandoValar: starting to hit the grind
VardaValar1: Commmme to Lotrooooo
PallandoValar: I trieeeeeeed
ArPharazonV: And in WoW I
finally managed to make some time for a bit of questing in Gorgrond
with the alternate outpost building there, and got myself a new
follower for the garrison, been a long time since I had one of those!
ArPharazonV: Got 2 new pets from old raids, including a "pale" servant,
and a hyjal wisp. We had a lot of pets dropping this week, makes me
wonder if they changed the droprate. I guess we'll see tomorrow when we
go in again.
ArPharazonV: And I finished another section of the legendary quest!
Upgraded my rings to 690, with an extra bonus introduced. Next up is
collecting 900 runes from Blackrock Foundry, but because we're getting
the first 9 bosses (out of 10) down regularly now, it shouldn't be very
difficult, and I can always do LFR for the last boss.
ArPharazonV: This should be the last step before recruiting Garona and
being done with the quest until the next patch. But it'll still take a
while, so patch might come earlier? We'll see.
VardaValar1: (grab while you can, bofore they correct the drop rate!)
ArPharazonV: Yes, that's the plan :-)
ArPharazonV: And I think that's the notable news I have for this week.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Phar. :-)
VardaValar1: It looks at first glance like just personal news, but it's also got a fair bit of info about the games themselves.
ArPharazonV: I do try!
VardaValar1: Aye, thank you. :-)
EVE Online:
PallandoValar: ..I'm running c4 wormhole sites? Makin isk isk isk!
VardaValar1: Sounds explosive
PallandoValar: Well, on hold for a minute while I wait for someone to show up cause we lost our bs that was repping our logi
PallandoValar: lost as in "went off" not as in "exploded"
AriehnV: downloading the client right now
PallandoValar: it is!
PallandoValar: Pretty, too!
AriehnV: might be an idea to get used to the game again and see how much i like it
ArPharazonV: So many abbrevations I don't get in those few sentences.
ArPharazonV: Most notably "bs that was repping our logi"
PallandoValar: hah
PallandoValar: battleship that was healing our cleric
PallandoValar: :-P
ArPharazonV: battleship, repairing and... logician?
PallandoValar: well, dps that was healing our cleric
VardaValar1: Fun to guess, but I can struggle to be a serious guesser.
Battleshi that was hitting something of yours to gain reputation. Oh,
ok. :-)
ArPharazonV: Close enough :-)
PallandoValar: http://puu.sh/hjVBk/0bde1701f8.jpg
ArPharazonV: repping would be repairing then, yes
PallandoValar: http://puu.sh/hjVAl/ee265a4054.jpg
PallandoValar: http://puu.sh/hjVzq/341ec69234.jpg
PallandoValar: yeah
ArPharazonV: What are all those horizontal lines in the background?
PallandoValar: a gian shield bubble
VardaValar1: Love the space shots!
PallandoValar: giant
ArPharazonV: Ah!
PallandoValar: we're sitting in something that's as close to safe as you can get where we are
PallandoValar: waiting for someone to show up to help out
ArPharazonV: Hide in a bubble.
PallandoValar: well, hide inside some shields that are impenetrable.
PallandoValar: temporarily, at least.
PallandoValar: someone shoots our shields, and REALLY wants us dead, I
have about 8 hours to come up with a solution before the shields go
away and we go boom..
PallandoValar: 8 hours from when they start shooting
ArPharazonV: So they need to be shooting at that shield for 8 hours in order to get through.
PallandoValar: slightly more complicated, because, well, eve
ArPharazonV: Yeesh, you have some long gaming sessions in there...
PallandoValar: Shield has some HP value
VardaValar1: Oh, new game coming up. Schlock Mercenary fans take note:
VardaValar1: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/howardtayler/the-planet-mercenary-role-playing-game
PallandoValar: yes
PallandoValar: backed
ArPharazonV: Huh. Twice the goal already.
VardaValar1: (loves Schlock Mercenary webcomic)
PallandoValar: I have the challenge coins too
PallandoValar: somewhere around here
EVE Online continued:
PallandoValar: right, so, shield has some HP value, quite high
PallandoValar: once you take it to 25%, it goes into reinforced mode, and is invulnerable
PallandoValar: you have to provide fuel for this, and once it goes invulnerable,y ou can't put any more fuel in
PallandoValar: how much you put in detemrines how long it lasts
PallandoValar: anywhere from a minute to .. 1 day and.. 14? 18? hours
PallandoValar: I have enough for 8 hours
PallandoValar: after that
ArPharazonV: So you put fuel in while you can, and when the shield goes to 25% it becomes invulnerable while said fuel lasts.
PallandoValar: you can finish shooting it, once the shield runs out of hp, anything inside is free game
PallandoValar: yup
ArPharazonV: So it's better to shoot at a thing, go away until it
drops, and then come back and finish the job. Do they get a timing
indicator?
PallandoValar: yup
PallandoValar: nice big giant ticker saying the time left
PallandoValar: https://throughnewbeyes.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/2013-02-15-21-10-39.png
PallandoValar: like so
ArPharazonV: Ah.
PallandoValar: depending on what the objective is, you wouldn't go away either
PallandoValar: anyone coming after us wouldn't, for instance
PallandoValar: if they go away, we can run off and just leave the shield generator behind
PallandoValar: small loss, but nothing in the grand scheme
PallandoValar: like, say, 85m for the tower+fuel
PallandoValar: vs the ships currently inside which would be, conservatively, 750m?
PallandoValar: no, 905m
PallandoValar: 950m
PallandoValar: oops, plus implants, easily 3000m
ArPharazonV: So you gotta sit there and wait for 8 hours, or have someone else watch it for you.
PallandoValar: yeah
PallandoValar: or possibly 28 hours if it's full up
PallandoValar: you'll normally organize shifts
ArPharazonV: Yeesh. I thought camping a rare spawn for a few hours in World of Warcraft was bad.
PallandoValar: and if it's really a planned eviction/invasion sort of
thing, and you're not one of the big groups, you'll start the fun
friday night
PallandoValar: so it's easier to get 24 hour coverage
PallandoValar: gotta remember, you're talking groups of people
ArPharazonV: True.
PallandoValar: any "serious" eviction attempt in wormhole space would only be done by groups of 100+
PallandoValar: eh, maybe 50
PallandoValar: just becausr you can't get that round the clock timezone coverage otherwise
PallandoValar: the big nullsec groups have memberships int he thousands to 10 thousand plus range
ArPharazonV: That is a lot of people.
PallandoValar: they deal with different mechanics largely, though
PallandoValar: the little tower I'm using is a sideshow
PallandoValar: out there
PallandoValar: just used to stage
PallandoValar: important ones will be hit, but as a means of disrupting
the enemy's logistics (actual logistics, not healer-class) and so
forth, rather than as the end objective
PallandoValar: full nullsec coalition level warfare is a thing to behold
ArPharazonV: Hah, I bet.
PallandoValar: the last big one had, depending on how you count the
sides and so on (for political reasons, some groups will claim they
"didn't bring everythign they could", etc)
PallandoValar: somewhere around, oh, ~15000 people
ArPharazonV: That is some major war.
PallandoValar: round-the-clock operations
ArPharazonV: I don't think WoW servers even carry that many people at once. Might be wrong.
PallandoValar: well
PallandoValar: that's 15000 split up over timezones and so on
PallandoValar: Eve can gracefully handle about 2000 people in a fight
PallandoValar: up to about ~2500 it's still graceful but not great
ArPharazonV: Impressive.
PallandoValar: once you hit ~3000 it's kinda crap
PallandoValar: lemem find the infographic from the last big fight
PallandoValar: https://evepics.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/b-r5rb_infographic.jpg
PallandoValar: so 7500 unique characters in one battle over about 18 hours
ArPharazonV: 2261 capsules destroyed, eh
PallandoValar: (so, 3 actual people! *rimshot*)
ArPharazonV: Heh.
PallandoValar: due to this that and the other, I'd say it's be pretty
accurate to say that it'd equate to ~4000 real people involved in that
PallandoValar: and this was an "accident"
PallandoValar: so people weren't properly prepared
PallandoValar: was very much a "AHHH AHHH GET ON AHHHH AHHH" sort of thing
PallandoValar: course, this being Eve, that's okay too
PallandoValar: because people have jabber/irc/etc set up
PallandoValar: Even in my little group, I have the phone numbers for about 10 of our folks for me to text if need be
PallandoValar: and we're not space-holding or anything
PallandoValar: my old group we had a phone tree
PallandoValar: leaderships texts each other, and a couple other people
PallandoValar: that gets passed on, etc
PallandoValar: we were more organized than the company I work for IRL
VardaValar1: AIM, that's the ticket.
VardaValar1: heh
VardaValar1: Gaming teaches management skill. Course offered soon. ;-)
ArPharazonV: And they say gaming doesn't prepare you for real life..
VardaValar1: Teaches typing skills too!
PallandoValar: AIM can't be secured, and it isn't persistant enough. :-P
ArPharazonV: Secured? You're scared of infiltration?
ArPharazonV: People really take this game seriously, don't they?
PallandoValar: Me? Nah. I know everyone.
PallandoValar: but the bigger groups? absolutely.
PallandoValar: there was a minor dramastorm recently
PallandoValar: where, let me see if I can remember this right
PallandoValar: so, there was a fleetcommander/director in.. SMA? something. one of the junior alliances in the CFC coalition.
PallandoValar: He was, among other things, a titan pilot
PallandoValar: titans are supermassive ships, biggest class int he
game, currentl run about ~80b for the hull, + some large amount in
fittings
PallandoValar: if you wanted to buy one outright, with cash, you'd have
to buy about 100 PLEX. currentl you can buy 28 PLEX for $489.86
PallandoValar: that's the best price
PallandoValar: so.. call it about $2000
ArPharazonV: Hefty.
PallandoValar: right, so
PallandoValar: the CFC is in/has been in conflcit with a much smaller group, Black Legion.
PallandoValar: BL doesn't "threaten" the CFC as such, but they skrimsh
at the borders and are strong enough to cause significant damage and
open upa second front during conflicts
PallandoValar: the leader of BL is one elo knight
PallandoValar: and he happens to reside in a particular province in canada, can't remember which
PallandoValar: the titan pilot.. also lives there
PallandoValar: so, as these things do, at some point a general meetup
of people in the area is suggested not on corp lines, just any eve
player
PallandoValar: and apparently, somehow, this eventually, presumably
through the good ole rumor department, trurned into "elo knight has
compromised this titan pilot"
PallandoValar: somehow got him to turn traitor
PallandoValar: so
PallandoValar: the CFC staged a counter-attack, and summarily executed
(completel with titan destruction and kicking from corp) this titan
pilot
PallandoValar: well, drama exploded then, as it turns out the meetup hadn't even occured yet
PallandoValar: it was a planned meetup
PallandoValar: so elo never had the chance to turn the guy in the first place
ArPharazonV: Ouch. Talk about paranoia.
PallandoValar: about a week of chest beating and yelling and so forth later.. guy is reinstated, compelte with new titan
PallandoValar: but that was a tiny, minor thing, compared to the normal
PallandoValar: heh
PallandoValar: and now I have a fleet to run
PallandoValar: o/
ArPharazonV: Good luck!
ArPharazonV: Oh, Varda, remember that Fallout: New Vegas Let's Play that ended a few weeks ago?
VardaValar1: Vaguely
ArPharazonV: Same guy now started a Skyrim playthrough, quite heavily
modded it seems, with a rather weird and aggressive character (based on
older parodies and playthroughs on his channel, long story) which
should turn out pretty funny as well.
ArPharazonV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdiINZl9AyE is the first video
ArPharazonV: So if people like the New Vegas playthrough, or simply like Skyrim, they might give it a try!
PallandoValar: http://puu.sh/hjZba/6a4f075354.jpg
PallandoValar: my screen RIGHT NOW
PallandoValar: lemme try and get an explosion
PallandoValar: bah, missed it
PallandoValar: http://puu.sh/hjZg8/e9c79761e6.jpg
PallandoValar: maybe
PallandoValar: yeah!
ArPharazonV: boom!
PallandoValar: That's Arien I'm talkign to, btw. :-)
ArPharazonV: Sularien Firestar... yes, that seems rather indicative :-)
VardaValar1: Lovely name
AriehnV: :-D
ArPharazonV: Right, let's do a bit of Hearthstone...
ArPharazonV: Alas, I won't have enough gold in time for the next
Blackrock Mountain wing. So I won't be able to play that before next
meeting.
AriehnV: good nnight dear people :-)
AriehnV: sleep well all
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
AriehnV: Namarie :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Namarie Arien :-)
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
VardaValar1: Thank you, Phar :-)
