VardaValar1: Eonwe put up news on the Games Site that we'll get to shortly.
VardaValar1: Tolkien Site stuff that went up did so after the last meeting, during After-meeting.
VardaValar1: Not sure that gets to be mentioned again, since it did go on the News page with links in After-meeting.
VardaValar1: It was more art by the Bohemian Weasel-(T), and more will be coming.

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Any non-WoW, non-LotRO news?
VardaValar1: For Diablo 3, a new blog has been posted
VardaValar1: previewing patch 2.1 PTR
VardaValar1: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/14244559/patch-210-ptr-preview-6-17-2014
VardaValar1: Speaking of Diablo 3, Thingol and I chatted briefly there. He's still actively playing.
ArPharazonV: I've got some stuff.
VardaValar1: Go ahead. :-)
ArPharazonV: More flashgaming, more Hearthstone (all heroes at 21 or higher now!) and for flashgames I'll link...
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Runouw/last-legacy-null-space a puzzle platformer with action and rpg elements, will keep you busy for a while!
VardaValar1: That could be interesting.
VardaValar1: and grats on your Heroes. : )
ArPharazonV: And that's it for me, I think.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar : )
karakedi25 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Indis :-)
karakedi25: aiya
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: We're in Gaming, asking what other games we played this last week.
VardaValar1: EverQuest 2, pretty heavily by Bilbo
VardaValar1: Star Wars the Old Republic by Sauron
VardaValar1: Hurin is rejoining Irmo, Miriel, and Annael now and then in Guild Wars 2
VardaValar1: although he is still in LotRO as well.
VardaValar1: WoW:
VardaValar1: A preview for Shadowmoon Valley:
VardaValar1: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/14061289/warlords-of-draenor-zone-preview-shadowmoon-valley-6-19-2014
VardaValar1: Updated the female orc model:
VardaValar1: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/14511926/character-viewer-updated-female-orc-6-20-2014
ArPharazonV: Gotta love SMV. I'm glad our garrison is there!
VardaValar1: I got back into WoW for the first time in 6 months, chatted a bit with Elwing, leveled up Fainan.
VardaValar1: Then that worked out well for you. :-)
VardaValar1: Any other WoW news?
ArPharazonV: Still working on that silly spineclaw pet I'm afraid.
VardaValar1: Good luck : )
VardaValar1: I think Arien is mostly afk with her WoW rp group?
VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: The Treasure Hunt is going. :-)
VardaValar1: Hobnangian chicken punting is still going with shore times to play each month.
VardaValar1: Pets for everyone has been included in-game, still tough to get but prized for that too.
ArPharazonV: Oh, reminds me
ArPharazonV: Midsummer Festival started in WoW.
VardaValar1: Monday morning between 6am and around 11 am the LotRO servers will be down
ArPharazonV: Get your bonfires and your pets and your achievements!
AriehnV: got the Valor achievement for the cloak
AriehnV: finally so now the fun bit for the Change of Comand .. alas
VardaValar1: Ahh, right! Thanks. That bonfire buff and the maypole dance buff are handy.
AriehnV: and the bg .. Horde are soo losers normally heeh
VardaValar1: Depends on your server, likely. : )
VardaValar1: I started a bonfire and a Hordie swooped down from quite
high up and put it out for the achievement very quickly. Of course I
re-lit it right away.
VardaValar1: Indis, if you're there, any more LotRO news?
karakedi25: Nothing much new. There's a new version of Beta out on Bullroarer. Much cleaned up, much still to clean.
VardaValar1: The Bullroarer test server has been going hard, and lots
of rumors are coming out of it. Of course they are looking at an
unfinished game.
VardaValar1: Thanks! Sounds like beta all right.
karakedi25: The Bullroarer beta is open to anyone. Anything on it can be discussed.
AriehnV: oh i bought the Helms Deep expansion with turbine points when it was on offer ^^#
karakedi25: Good deal. There's a lot to like in HD.
VardaValar1: Aye. Just remember when people are telling us stuff from
Bullroarer that it's not the final word yet. Heard some people getting
all huffy about some things that are almost surely temporary
(non-Guild).
karakedi25: Also some frustrations, but overall, it's worth it.
VardaValar1: Good to hear Arien, you'll probably enjoy it. : )
VardaValar1: Hey, in Beta we try to break things. : )
karakedi25: Like anything else, it won't please everyone. The landscape
is beautiful, and once the bugs are fixed, it will be fun, I think.
karakedi25: Dol Amroth is amazing.
VardaValar1: Hard drive is going to load up with screenies.
VardaValar1: Heard we can barter for pet swans: white one and a black one?
VardaValar1: Don't let me forget to go back to WoW shortly. Eonwe sent an email to share with you.
VardaValar1: If anyone has gamed in Fenmarch, you get a preview of swans. Tons of animations.
karakedi25: I've heard the same about swans.
ArPharazonV: swan pets..
ArPharazonV: now there's something lacking in WoW
VardaValar1: I suspect they're doing some Dol Amroth swan testing there.
ArPharazonV: All we get is cranes and parrots and seagulls.
VardaValar1: If WoW tried it, the swans would probably be spiky!
ArPharazonV: Hah.
VardaValar1: *shudders* Seagulls. We'd lose all the elves off our servers.
ArPharazonV: Oh, and crows. We got crows.
ArPharazonV: Crebain pets!
VardaValar1: Spying on us with our help?
VardaValar1: We have bugs around lamps in town already.
VardaValar1: Any more LotRO news?
karakedi25: Not from me.
VardaValar1: Mainly it would be that you're all invited to come play in LotRO with us, and can play free. Landroval server.
karakedi25: Oh wait...
VardaValar1: Go ahead.
karakedi25: there's a new producer, Major Malphunction, who has posted
in the forum asking people what they like, dislike, or would like to
have. Responses have been good, and he's been interacting fairly
regularly in the thread.
karakedi25: This is in addition to the Executive Producer, Aaron
Campbell, who also impresses me with his openness and level-headedness.
karakedi25: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?550800-Open-Discussion-Tell-the-new-guy-what-you-want-what-you-l
ove-and-what-you-hate
VardaValar1: Maybe the Player Council has inspired them to come out more than before. So often only the whiners post.
karakedi25: I think this preceded the Player Council. Campbell has been
showiing considerable open-mindedness since he came on early in the
year.
VardaValar1: Very good.
VardaValar1: We should definitely check out those threads, hopefully have something helpful to say.
VardaValar1: as in input from us to help out.
karakedi25: that's the idea
karakedi25: There are already 7 pages on this thread.
VardaValar1: Going to be tough reading for the Devs and for us.
VardaValar1: but could be fun. : )
karakedi25: There's a fair amount of repetition, natural in 8 pages
(sorry, I lied about 7 pages), but a lot of good ideas, and generally
thoughtful and courteous posts.
VardaValar1: Give it a few minutes and it may be nine pages. : )
karakedi25: :-)
VardaValar1: WoW news from Eonwe in his email:
VardaValar1: WoW Lothar gaming:
Crossed paths with Glorfindel Saturday night/Sunday morning, did some
questing/rare hunting on the Timeless Isle together.
VardaValar1: 1.) Got the Spectral
Porcupette from collecting 999 dinosaur bones on the Isle of Giants.
While I was at it, I got a primal egg, which hatched into a Primal
Black Raptor. 178 mounts now.
ArPharazonV: Grats Eonwe!
VardaValar1: 2.) I got my flex raid Siege of Orgrimmar heirloom axe from Garrosh. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/item/105679
for those interested. The official page shows it as an epic, but it's
an heirloom, which means it'll grow in power from (character) levels 90
to 100 when we start leveling in the next expansion.
VardaValar1: 3.) Also did some archaeology and got another one of the BoA items.
ArPharazonV: Yeah, got a primal egg this week too, should hatch tomorrow, hopefully it's finally the missing red :-)
VardaValar1: StarCraft 2 news:
VardaValar1: SC2: Got lvl 35 Protoss, which means I'm max level Protoss right now.
VardaValar1: Take care and have fun at the meeting :}
ArPharazonV: grats!
VardaValar1: Eonwë
VardaValar1: /endmail
VardaValar1: Any other news, comments, suggestions, or whatever you want to say?
VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: In the time of the War of the Ring,
some groups of elves tried very hard to keep what they considered their
Golden Age continuing inside of special preserves; others did not. Why
the different approaches?
VardaValar1: Rivendell, Lorien, Grey Havens, Mirkwood, and eventually Ithilien.
ArPharazonV: Well, easy to try to conserve your preserve when you've got one of the three Rings.
VardaValar1: True. When given the power, would all the elf groups have tried to do that or maybe not?
karakedi25: We know very little about Ithilien post-WotR.
VardaValar1: We have a fair idea of attitudes that were different that
caused the existence of a new colony, when no new one had been made for
so long.
VardaValar1: JRRT wanted his readers to infer, so we can try to oblige him.
VardaValar1: With the power of the Rings, the elves could also have
made greater progress instead of setting up visions of the past. That
had to do with attitude.
karakedi25: I believe there were references to making Ithilien a garden spot.
VardaValar1: Lorien would be the most like the old times, Elrond was more welcoming to visitors, scholars, students.
karakedi25: He still used Vilya to preserve.
VardaValar1: Garden spots were made in Minas Tirith by the elves, but it was not quite like that for Ithilien.
VardaValar1: Agreed, Elrond definitely did that.
VardaValar1: Ithilien was a beautiful forested area right at the edge of Mordor, damaged by that closeness.
VardaValar1: A Man was the Prince of Ithilien, with an elf colony within the borders.
VardaValar1: The Gray Havens had a Ring, but it was passed on to Gandalf.
VardaValar1: Mirkwood and Ithilien never had an Elven Ring, although both were damaged by the One Ring's effects.
VardaValar1: Each of the Elven-homes had a very different character.
VardaValar1: What sort of character did they have? Why the differences?
ArPharazonV: Well, the race of Elf that was based there made quite a difference.
VardaValar1: Aye to that.
ArPharazonV: Rivendell was more of a Noldor-place, with architecture and knowledge and order
ArPharazonV: Mirkwood and Lothlorien were Silvan populations, but led by Sindar (and another Noldo).
ArPharazonV: Grey Havens were... also Noldor, I think?
AriehnV: Ithilien was not really elven .. half elven .. you know .. dont go there if you dont like elves ;-)
VardaValar1: heh
VardaValar1: The elf colony in Ithilien was elven, but it was much more open to humans.
ArPharazonV: All the Rangers complaining about the Elves taking their jobs...
AriehnV: it was Amroth and the friends of what was her name Nimrodel that settleed there
VardaValar1: as in more friendly.
AriehnV: they had a port for Valinor as well if i remember reight
ArPharazonV: I think it's where Legolas and Gimli set off from, yes.
VardaValar1: Amroth was on a boat going to Valinor from Dol Amroth, but
VardaValar1: Legolas and Gimli went down the river and had to sail way around.
VardaValar1: I'd better check the map for Dol Amroth.
karakedi25: Edhellond
karakedi25: near Dol Amroth
VardaValar1: Another neat thing about Dol Amroth, it had a high
percentage of descendents of the Faithful, Numenoreans friendly to
Elves and that knew Elvish.
AriehnV: ah yes Edhellond that was the name of the Elven port
VardaValar1: Dol (means Hill) Amroth is out on a peninsula. Ithilien had to reach the ocean by a river.
AriehnV: had to read the humor thing again to remind me ^^ .. still gives me a chuckle
VardaValar1: :-)
ArPharazonV: the humor thing?
AriehnV: http://valarguild.org/menelvagor/humor/vacation/vacBelfalas.htm
ArPharazonV: heh, if you're lucky you might just see the last one sailing away
AriehnV: ;-)
VardaValar1: I felt some concern about using images that had never been
intended for humor in our humor site and stopped adding to it. But that
could still be worked around.
VardaValar1: If anyone wants to add new sections.
VardaValar1: If no one has any more insights to offer on the elf populations of Middle-earth, we can call it a night.
AriehnV: hmm wandering elves Noldo i think? in the Shire
ArPharazonV: moving towards the Havens, yep
VardaValar1: Elves did cross through the Shire to reach the Grey Havens, aye.
VardaValar1: Some seemed to just be visiting the woods of the Shire, and visited Bilbo.
ArPharazonV: Just hanging out with the Hobbits.
ArPharazonV: Because Elves like to party like anyone else.
VardaValar1: Merry elves making music and eating in the forest.
VardaValar1: On that humor page, a batch of suggestions are given on
the first page in case anyone wants to flesh out a short vacation ad
for them sometime.
ArPharazonV: Hiding from dwarves when they stumble into your party.
AriehnV: hehe okay
AriehnV: good idea Pharzi ^^
AriehnV: maybe baning a gavel would count as music?
VardaValar1: Maybe so
AriehnV: err banging
VardaValar1: *picks up a silver, long-handled hammer from the shelf*
VardaValar1: *tinnnnnnnng shinnnnng*
top
VardaValar1: After-meeting!
AriehnV: *finds bell made of moonsilver*
AriehnV: *tingeling*
VardaValar1: I was looking for an url I wanted to share with you, thought it was right here. Maybe under one of the hammers.
VardaValar1: May have been taken down. Good thing looking for it in After-meeting instead of the main chat.
ArPharazonV: You might find it yet, then.
AriehnV: what site was it?
VardaValar1: found a shot of it
VardaValar1: https://www.facebook.com/525910484128856/photos/a.531967306856507.1073741830.525910484128856/5943

ArPharazonV: Not a color I'd expect for an elf.
VardaValar1: It's the inside of his cape. The outside is more gray like the rest of his outfit. He did a swirl.
VardaValar1: Hit the left arrow and you can see what it normally looks like. The orange is hidden.
VardaValar1: Fancy fabric, catches lighting differently.
ArPharazonV: Ah, that works better.
VardaValar1: These shots came from people interested in costuming, fabrics, that made a lot of the outfits.
VardaValar1: Lots of forward and back of many characters, from the costumer's interest view.
VardaValar1: Anyway, you get to see some shots you normally don't. Nice since the same ones tend to be shown over and over.
VardaValar1: Namarie :-)
karakedi25: namarie
karakedi25: (also logging out)
karakedi25 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie Indis!
ArPharazonV: and.. Varda too?
VardaValar1: It's After-meeting, no one was talking, so aye. Time to make supper for these guys over here.
ArPharazonV: Enjoy!
VardaValar1: hah, evil Sauron handed me some chocolate kisses. :-)
AriehnV: Namarie :-) "steals*
VardaValar1: This can stay up to scroll. Maybe Flad will pop by later.
VardaValar1: *passes chocolate kisses around to all*
AriehnV: *takes one and noms .. nice Nightcup *smiles*
VardaValar1: Ok, need to make some real food to go with this lovely stuff.
AriehnV: oki do Namarie .. good night all :-)
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1: Cheers and Namarie :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
VardaValar1: /wave. *heads into LotRO*
ArPharazonV: leaving soon
VardaValar1: Sleeeeep
VardaValar1: Quoting your icon
ArPharazonV: heh
VardaValar1: that would actually be Go to sleep, with a cool swirly.
ArPharazonV: Well, pretty terrible Hearthstone session. Only 2 wins,
out of the 10 I need for my 2 dailies. I'm gonna have to throw some
extra hours at it the following days.
ArPharazonV: Did get a few more lvl 22s, so I guess that's allright...
VardaValar1: Oh no. You might have to play
VardaValar1: but aye, the time is like a form of coin, and can be very expensive to real life.
VardaValar1: Grats on the 22's
ArPharazonV: I think it's just coming out of my spineclaw-hunting time.
VardaValar1: Not that!
ArPharazonV: Been at it for months now, it feels, so a day or two missing won't matter much..
ArPharazonV: I have a feeling I'll get the classes for the dailies to
23 though, so they'll be ahead of the rest a bit. That's just how the
daily quests go!
VardaValar1: Guess not
