ArPharazonV: Not me.

VardaValar1: Nothing to report there. My planned time for working on it

VardaValar1: Aiya Indis :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
ArPharazonV: All my Hearthstone heroes to 24 now! Not much news for flashgaming, and no game this week that I particularly feel I should push forward.
ArPharazonV: Oh, Naxxramas-mode for Hearthstone has been announced for
next tuesday in the US and wednesday in the EU, time-zone thing.
ArPharazonV: Though on that note, if you like cardgames, I'll throw one in from this week, from the flashgaming badges for this week...
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/zanzarino/elements I haven't really looked too deeply into it, but it seems allright ;-)
ArPharazonV: And the comments give some very positive reviews!
VardaValar1: That's good news

VardaValar1: Any other WoW news?
ArPharazonV: Eh, slow week for me. Did get some new green things from the Timeless Isle, but still a long way to go.
VardaValar1: Keeps us gaming. :-)
VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: Update 14 is live
VardaValar1: "Paths of the Dead"
VardaValar1: Release notes and known issues:

karakedi25: The new update (14) has been very well received. There are
a few bugs scheduled to be fixed in 14.1 during this month.
VardaValar1: Aye, two quests had to be closed for repair, both of which I'm on, heh.
karakedi25: The new landscape raid area is proving very difficult,
especially because of the rapidity of respawns. The plan is to adjust
this in 14.1.
VardaValar1: But it's great for experience. Helps to be fast dps and that lots of other gamers tend to be in the same area.
VardaValar1: o wait. The raid area.
VardaValar1: Please go ahead about that.
karakedi25: Tarlan's Crown--it's a stretch of road between the first city after you leave the Paths of the Dead and Dol Amroth.
VardaValar1: Tarlang's Crown
VardaValar1: Morlad is the nearest stable, but there's also a handy milestone not too far.
karakedi25: It's been taken over by a gang of powerful and numerous
Corsairs, who infest the landscape in othr places but not in such
density or such difficult mobs. And yes, Tarlang.
karakedi25: So the idea is to fight your way through, and there's a
boss with many minions partway. It's actually rather fun with a
coordinated group.
karakedi25: There are also 'ruthless dead' (ghosts from the P o t D, who harry us as well.
karakedi25: In Dol Amroth we have to gain reputation with about 10
factions through daily quests, 6 a day with resets twice a week.
karakedi25: Rather a grind.
VardaValar1: For Tarlang's Crown, do you have to be level 100?
karakedi25: Fortunately we only have to gain 'acquaintance' standing with them--that's the first level, and the max for them.
karakedi25: No, but it helps. It would be better for a < 100 to be with some level capped players.
karakedi25: (I have achieved level cap on my main character.)
VardaValar1: Thanks. But we have to be 100 to do the Dol Amroth factions?
karakedi25: Yes, I believe so.
VardaValar1: And congrats again, to Alasse :-)
karakedi25: *bows modestly*
ArPharazonV: Congrats!
karakedi25: Still working on the epic and landscape quests, along with the dailies.
karakedi25: I'm in no hurry to finish them, because they're a lot of fun.
karakedi25: There are some very good quest chains in the area. I particularly liked the 'Diplomacy' one.
VardaValar1: Also from LotRO, hi from Hurin. :-)
ArPharazonV: Hi!
karakedi25: hi back
VardaValar1: [Kinship] Hiurok: :-)
VardaValar1: Any other gaming/business/membership news? Comments, suggestions?

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: First must be mentioned that Eonwe and I posted to the rp forum story. :-)
VardaValar1: Feel free to put in your two cents as well.
ArPharazonV: Ah, I'd only seen Eonwe.
karakedi25: I saw Eonwe's post.
VardaValar1: For a discussion question: How were language and future events affected by the Kinslaying at Alqualonde?
VardaValar1: (This might also color our characters' attitudes in
Rivendell, if the thought comes up, like seeing a swan on a pond there.)
ArPharazonV: *thinks* were the Sindar aware of the Kinslaying?
karakedi25: language: use of Sindarin by the Noldor in Beleriand because of Thingol's reaction to the kinslaying.
karakedi25: Melian got it out of Galadriel.
karakedi25: Thingol then only permitted members of family (throught Earwen) to visit Doriath
karakedi25: -t
VardaValar1: The Sindar became aware of the Kinslaying when Thingol and
Melian were talking with one of the Feanorians who thought they already
knew. Was it Galadriel? I need to look that up again.
ArPharazonV: yes, that would have an effect, then
VardaValar1: Probably was.
VardaValar1: So Thingol outlawed the use of Quenya. That's why it's only known to scholars by the time of the War of the Ring.
karakedi25: One of the family visited and was clearly keeping a secret.
Melian suspected something dark and (if I remember correctly) got it
out of Galadriel who was staying in Doriath at the time.
ArPharazonV: The hostility between the Sindar and the Noldor at that
point was influental throughout the entire war, and, I would say,
played a part in the second and third kinslayings as well.
karakedi25: Outlawing Quenya was actually only effective in Doriath, but other Sindar honored it to greater or lesser degree...
karakedi25: and the Noldor took the path of least resistance and
started using Sindarin, with the possible exception of Gondolin.
karakedi25: The second and third kinslayings were about the silmarili.
karakedi25: The Feanorians were responsible for both.
ArPharazonV: Yes, but I can imagine that the situation would have been
very different if the Feanorians and the Sindar were on friendly terms
from the start.
ArPharazonV: Diplomacy and compromise, for one thing.
karakedi25: Probably not, because Thingol wouldn't give up the Silmaril
that Luthien took, and the Feanorians were bound by their dire vow.
karakedi25: Thingol was somewhat corrupted by the Silmaril.
karakedi25: We see at the time of the 3rd kinslaying that Maglor and
his brother at least were dismayed by the necessities their vow
entailed.
ArPharazonV: I think we'll have to agree to disagree there :-) If there
had been a friendship, not only the whole incident with Celegorm and
Curufin would have been wholly different, but perhaps Thingol would
have been more willing to trade the silmaril to not upset his alliance.
ArPharazonV: We can't really tell, anyway. We can speculate in either
direction, but there's too many factors, too many years between the
events, and we don't know which things would've been different in the
end.
ArPharazonV: Even though that exact speculation is the topic of conversation right now ;-)
VardaValar1: The Kinslaying not only put a rift between the Sindar and Noldor, but inside the Noldor.
VardaValar1: What rift?
ArPharazonV: Between Feanor's and Fingolfin's houses, for one thing.
ArPharazonV: Feanor making off with the ships and leaving his brother behind didn't help either.
karakedi25: Or between those who left for Beleriand and those who didn't.
ArPharazonV: That's true. I imagine the Kinslaying cost them a lot of support among their kin in Valinor.
karakedi25: and it certainly pissed off Namo
VardaValar1: The Teleri remembered for a long time. Although in the War
of Wrath they were persuaded to carry elves on their ships, they
refused to help with the fighting.
VardaValar1: The Kinslaying made a rift when the boats were burned by
Feanor, as he forced the rest to walk on the Helcaraxe or return to
Valinor disgraced and with the blood of the Teleri on them.
VardaValar1: And in the process, Feanor accidentally did another
kinslaying, one of his own twin sons was asleep in one of the boats.
ArPharazonV: "Oops?"
VardaValar1: A lot of side kin slaying happened due to the main one at Alqualonde.
VardaValar1: heh, oops indeed
karakedi25: afk
VardaValar1: Ok, that got most of the points intended. :-)
VardaValar1: Here's hoping we will get to do some more posting on the forum story, maybe with the background thought from today.
VardaValar1: There was some deep feeling left even though the Teleri eventually forgave the Noldor.
VardaValar1: *Picks up a hammer*
VardaValar1: *swinnnnnng*
VardaValar1: *ker-bomp!*

VardaValar1: After-meeting
ArPharazonV: Suddenly, Legolas confronts Auros: "You burned our boats!!"
VardaValar1: oops :-)
VardaValar1: "Not personally!"
VardaValar1: The silvans would have been educated by the Sindar, as that's one reason they took Sindarin leaders.
VardaValar1: Might have skewed their perceptions a wee bit, made them feel more on one side than the other.
ArPharazonV: And so Calion confronts Auros...
ArPharazonV: "You burned their boats!!"
VardaValar1: "Not personally!"
VardaValar1: But, it might make us feel a bit nervous about trusting Noldor.
VardaValar1: There were good Noldor too. Galadriel's brother, Finrod, that would help soften our thinking.
ArPharazonV: If Calion had a boat, he'd never lend it to Auros.
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Good thing it's mostly overland the rest of the way. But
if there's a river we have to cross, he might not have any Silvans in
his boat. :-)
VardaValar1: Frali might wonder why, heh.
ArPharazonV: Calion and Fainan hop in a boat, and Auros wants to join, and we tell him "Make your own boat for once!"
VardaValar1: (Hiya Eonwe! Thanks for the poke, er post, getting us rolling again!)
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Frali wonders why we paint it white and have swans pulling it.
ArPharazonV: Heh.
VardaValar1: Actually I doubt Angmar would have swans, but it's a fun thought.
VardaValar1: If there are swans in Mirkwood, they would be black. Seems possible.
VardaValar1: Wood ducks pulling canoes?
ArPharazonV: How about geese?
VardaValar1: That's a thought.
VardaValar1: In Angmar, we'll probably have to paddle. O well.
VardaValar1: We might bring up memories though.
VardaValar1: Actually, probably not, but it's fun speculation.
VardaValar1: afk :-)
ArPharazonV: I'm sure we've got boating experience from Mirkwood-streams and rivers.
karakedi25: back
ArPharazonV: Aiyata
karakedi25: hantale
karakedi25: Not feeling to well, so going to log out. See you next week, I hope.
karakedi25 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1: Aye on the boating experience, as it's mentioned for Legolas.
VardaValar1: Namarie, trying to cut lag. Have a great morning!
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
