ArPharazonV: Aiya!
AriehnV: aiya :-)
AriehnV: shall we wait another then minutes or so?
ArPharazonV: Check your email.
ArPharazonV: To summarize, Varda and Eonwe are absent tonight; it's on
you :-)
AriehnV: yes i know i ve read the mail
AriehnV: so then
AriehnV: shall we?
AriehnV: since Menel is afking as usual its us two only anyway ;-)
ArPharazonV: I see Gwaihir online, but nobody else.
ArPharazonV: aaand can't invite him
AriehnV: i sent him a pm to let him know
ArPharazonV: Sure.
AriehnV: so he can come in by himself if he can i think it depends on
the version of the software he is using
AriehnV: anyways ..
top
AriehnV: Elen
sila lumann omentielvo! - A star shines on the hower of our
meeting
AriehnV: okay lets run through the official bit quickly
AriehnV: Membership news:
AriehnV: we are here :-D
AriehnV: Gwaihir is putting
the final touches on his mystery search he wants to run this coming
weekend from Friday to Sunday
AriehnV: so good luck and fun in this Gwai :-)
ArPharazonV: Oh, sounds fun.
AriehnV: Varda is out of town
this weekend and Eonwe is at
the cinema seeing The Hobbit .. lucky him :-)
ArPharazonV: Speaking of, I've finally watched most of the first Hobbit
movie this weekend. Ended just after the riddle game. Will watch the
rest next week :-)
AriehnV: and the biggest and most significant news .. Eowyn and Faramir have a new potential gamer
and Tolkienean :-) - a boy , 5 pounds 11 ounces with brown hair :-)
AriehnV: sounds very hobbitlike to me :-)
ArPharazonV: Congratulations!
AriehnV: so congratulations Eowyn and Faramir both to you :-D
ArPharazonV: Certainly smaller than a normal adult human, anyway!
AriehnV: Fangorn and Varda are the happy grandparents, Sauron and Bilbo
the uncles and Merry is great uncle :-)
AriehnV: so a family tree that a hobbit can rival with i think#
top
AriehnV: Gaming:
AriehnV: oh there is no web news by the way so thats why i skip
directly to gaming
AriehnV: any non WoW or non LotrO games played this week?
ArPharazonV: Bit more flashgaming.
Nothing new outside that.
AriehnV: i myself did some Diablo 3
.. catching up on old content i long forgot or discovering new since i
skipped them the first time
ArPharazonV: Ah, fun :-)
AriehnV: think i managed to find places and bosses that i hadnt killed
before anyway since i got the achievements ;-)
AriehnV: and besides that Guild Wars 2
and SwotR
AriehnV: i ditched Rift for
good .. its just not my case and more boring story wise than the other
games
AriehnV: apart from that nothing new on the horizon
AriehnV: LotrO
AriehnV: I dont have any news apart that i managed to log a bit last
monday for a while and bashed some more orcs in lorien and did some
dailies
AriehnV: in Lothlorien
AriehnV: unfortunatly Indis is not here either .. probably raiding atm
so i cant give any more news
AriehnV: WoW:
AriehnV: Pharzi? that is your area
ArPharazonV: Well, no idea what happened on the American servers, of
course.
AriehnV: of course
ArPharazonV: Personally though, as an update to what I wrote on the
forum, I've now gained the Froglet pet, and have decided to work on a
pet that requires me to kill players on the Timeless Isle. Not really
my thing, but I'm a third of the way already.
ArPharazonV: Otherwise, not much progress.
ArPharazonV: You?
AriehnV: you wrote on the forum?
AriehnV: where on the guild site?
ArPharazonV: Oh, Eonwe made a thread to see how everyone was doing on
the Timeless Isle. I responded to that.
ArPharazonV: It's in Recent Posts :-)
AriehnV: ah i ve seen now
AriehnV: yup nice :-)
AriehnV: Not much really .. mainly rping on my nineties a bit levelling
with my orc warlock and my alliance pladading on Earthen ring
AriehnV: and try to attend the rp events on Argent Dawn at least with
my old Main the Dwarf Merrla
AriehnV: but else not much really oh yeah lfr wise i am through the
Unhold so just the last part of SoO left :-)
AriehnV: thats about it from on my side
AriehnV: oops Underhold i mean :-D but you should know by now that i
dont do Names :-D
ArPharazonV: Hehe. Just say third wing ;-)
AriehnV: *gg* all right i ll remember , grins
AriehnV: oh and there is an official website from Warlords of Draenor
with latestr news http://warlords-of-draenor.com/
AriehnV: darkmoon fair has ended and lunar festival is starting in 2
weeks time
AriehnV: Tolkien: any suggestions for Tokien or a passage for a tolkien
moment or a quick Trivia?
ArPharazonV: It doesn't look official?
ArPharazonV: Hmm, no suggestions for me, but I'd be up for discussing
any you've got.
ArPharazonV: Otherwise, trivia's the way to go.
AriehnV: all right yeah the weblste looks like an off shoot from
facebook
AriehnV: but not sure whether made by Blizz or somone else
AriehnV: ah this is the official for sure
AriehnV: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/warlords-of-draenor/
ArPharazonV: Yep, that looks rather more official :-)
top
Tolkien:
AriehnV: right trivia .. hmm
two rounds?
AriehnV: question one
ArPharazonV: Sure. Got a book preference?
AriehnV: The Hobbit and Lotr
ArPharazonV: Allright.
AriehnV: In his first question when Gandalf meets Bilbo in The Hobbit
he mentions a relative o great renown .. Name him and his family
relation to Bilbo :-) and bonus point if you can tell me why he is so
renownend . i. e. what deed?
ArPharazonV: *grin* thank you for giving me a question that I can
answer simply from what I saw in the movie yesterday...
AriehnV: hehe
AriehnV: let me hear your wisdom , oh golden one :-)
ArPharazonV: His name was "Bullroarer" Took, though I don't remember
his first name... his family relation I'm not sure. In the movie
Gandalf added about half a dozen "great"s but I think it was a bit
closer to Bilbo. Great-uncle?
ArPharazonV: And he was famous for... inventing the game of golf ;-)
ArPharazonV: Want more details?
AriehnV: Great or Great Great uncle?
ArPharazonV: You wouldn't be asking me if my previous answer was
correct, so I'll say Great Great :-)
AriehnV: i think Great Uncle? yes and more details would be appreciated
.. how did he invent the game of golf :D?
ArPharazonV: By smacking a goblin king's head clean off until it landed
in a rabbit hole.
ArPharazonV: Come to think of it, if he was on a horse at the time, it
might have been closer to polo than golf...
AriehnV: hehe
AriehnV: ok he slew the orc leader Golfimbul at the Battle of
Greenfields in the shire year III 2747 a more than a hundred years
before the war of rings
AriehnV: a band of orcs invaded at the time
AriehnV: oh you didnt explain why it was the game of golf invented ..
how is that association?
ArPharazonV: because the orc leader was called Golfimbul and his head
went into a rabbit hole like a golfball?
AriehnV: ah yes indeed :-)
AriehnV: answer satisfactory .. you can sit down
AriehnV: *grins* your question
ArPharazonV: I had one, where did it go...
ArPharazonV: Eh, I'll think of another.
ArPharazonV: Ah, right. What day of the year did the secret passage
into Erebor unlock?
AriehnV: Durin's day, the beginning of the dwarven winter
AriehnV: the last day of autumn
AriehnV: at the last light
ArPharazonV: Hmm, was that too easy? :-)
AriehnV: .. hehe a bit maybe .. just its not long since i saw the movie
so i can remember it well
ArPharazonV: Your turn!
AriehnV: let me think ...
AriehnV: When the Hobbits left Bree with Aragorn there was no horse to
be had for any money . can you tell me why and how did they actually
manage to solve the dilemma of the packbeast?
ArPharazonV: If I recall, Bill Ferny sold them an overpriced pony.
ArPharazonV: Don't remember if they actually paid for it.
AriehnV: they did actually pay for it
ArPharazonV: How did they get that money anyway...
ArPharazonV: I suppose Frodo brought some treasure with him!
AriehnV: a lot .. 12 silver pieces i think .. 3 times the normal worth
ArPharazonV: Yep.
ArPharazonV: And then on their way out they threw an apple in Bill
Ferny's face?
AriehnV: one did
AriehnV: who?
ArPharazonV: Probably Sam.
AriehnV: correct .. but why were there no horses in Bree?
AriehnV: otherwise
ArPharazonV: Driven off by the Black Riders?
AriehnV: correct again
karakedi25 has entered the room.
AriehnV: your question and then we call it :-) well maybe i do have a
tolkien moment after all bu first your question
karakedi25: Aiya
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
ArPharazonV: Let me think of one...
ArPharazonV: Allright, one more Hobbit question, since we're in that
mood...
ArPharazonV: What were Gollum's 4 answers to Bilbo's final riddle
question?
AriehnV: aiya Indis :-) we are in the last part of the the tolkien part
trivia
karakedi25: so I see
AriehnV: do you have a question to add too if you want after anwering
Pharas question
karakedi25: no, busy afternoon and trying to catch up
AriehnV: okay]
AriehnV: dagger .. hands .. nothing
AriehnV: rope
karakedi25: and we hates it forever (yes, I know that was afterwards)
ArPharazonV: I thought it was lint, not rope. Must check!
karakedi25: I'm fairly sure you're right, Phar
ArPharazonV: Still, close enough :-)
AriehnV: flint then okay :-)
ArPharazonV: String. That's it.
AriehnV: string darn it .. smaller than rope .. laughs
AriehnV: anyway the tolkien moment
^^#
karakedi25: lint was logical
AriehnV: we ll have three verses from a song u ll all recognise . if
you want feel free to tell me afterwards which it is and where whe
heard it before :-)
AriehnV: "So the cat on his fiddle played hey-diddle -dikddle, a jigv
that would wake the dead,
karakedi25: that is a version of the song Frodo sang to distract
customers at the PP from Pippin
AriehnV: he squeaked and sawed and quickened the tune , while the
landlord shook the mann in th moon, its after three!" he said
ArPharazonV: ah, the merry old inn
AriehnV: They rolled the man slowly up on the hill, and bundled him
into the moon, while his horses galloped up in rear, and the cow came
capering like a deer, and a dish ran up with a spoon.
AriehnV: Now quicker the fiddle wend deedle- dum- diddle, the dog began
tO roar. The cow and the horses stood on thir heads , the guests all
bounded from their beds and danced upon the floor.
AriehnV: with a ping and a pong the fiddle strings broke, the cow
jumped over the moon! and the little dog laughed to see such fun, and
the saturday dish went off at a run with the silver Sunday spoon.
AriehnV: The round Moon rolled behind the hill as the sun raised up her
head. she hardy believed her fiery eyes. for though it was day, to her
surprise, they all went back to bed
top
AriehnV: *bows* and yeeeellps Aftermeeting!!
AriehnV: and yes both right ^^
karakedi25: I first came across that as a nursery rhyme, not a song,
and I guess Tolkien borrowed it
AriehnV: I should think so probably
ArPharazonV: It is a familiar song, yes.
karakedi25: wasn't a song for me, just a nursery rhyme
ArPharazonV: A familiar composition, then.
karakedi25: and of course different words/story, but similar
ArPharazonV: Tolkien's own spin on things :-)
AriehnV: Namarie guildies :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
karakedi25: and namarie from me :-)
ArPharazonV: Namarie to you too, then!
karakedi25 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya :}
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
ArPharazonV: You missed Arien and Indis.
Eonwe Valar: Good to hear they made it :}
Eonwe Valar: How went the meeting?
ArPharazonV: Bit short, but went well. We had a few trivia rounds.
Eonwe Valar: Cool :}
Menelvagor Valar: And I am back late from afking as usual :-)
ArPharazonV: About 3 and a half hours late :-)
Menelvagor Valar: As usual :-)
Menelvagor Valar: It is sunday after all :-)
Eonwe Valar: Heya Menel :}
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya Eonwe :-)
Eonwe Valar: Oh, while I'm thinking about it, still with us on the RP,
Menel? I don't believe we've heard from Estarion since getting to
Rivendell.
Menelvagor Valar: Aye, I've been out of it for like a year or two now?
ArPharazonV: To be fair, we've had massive breaks in it in general,
lasting like.. 6 months?
ArPharazonV: Maybe less.
Menelvagor Valar: I suppose it's time I caught up with it and see if I
can get in somewhere again :-)
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Got disconnected it seems. Am I back now and did I miss
anything since my last statement?
ArPharazonV: Eonwe Valar: Oh, while I'm thinking about it, still with
us on the RP, Menel? I don't believe we've heard from Estarion since
getting to Rivendell.Menelvagor Valar: Aye, I've been out of it for

breaks in it in general, lasting like.. 6 months?ArPharazonV: Maybe
less.Menelvagor Valar: I suppose it's time I caught up with it and see

Menelvagor Valar: I suppose it's time I caught up with it and see if I
can get in somewhere again :-)
Eonwe Valar: OK :}
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Menelvagor Valar: Remember where I posted last? :-P Was I ever in
Angmar Bound? :-P
Eonwe Valar: Well, we're still in Rivendell, not yet revving up to go,
so a post on what Estarion's been doing the last.. two days tops I
think?... would be simple enough to work in :}
Eonwe Valar: Good question, hehehehe.
Eonwe Valar: Looks like your last post was is Scouting Ahead, Part 6.
Menelvagor Valar: October 5th 2011 :-P
Eonwe Valar: Oh wow, that's further back than I would've guessed, heh.
ArPharazonV: Well, you did say 2 years, that's pretty accurate.
Eonwe Valar: Not that we've moved by leaps and bounds since the :} But
wouldn't have guessed further back than late 2012/early 2013 :}
Eonwe Valar: *since then
Menelvagor Valar: Well, I do know I stopped posting some time before I
became a future board member of my fraternity, which was early 2012 :-)
Eonwe Valar: Hehe.
Menelvagor Valar: It also happens to be around the time I stopped
playing WoW altogether :-P
Eonwe Valar: No time, no interest, both, or something else?
Eonwe Valar: *concerning WoW
Menelvagor Valar: lack of interest mostly.
ArPharazonV: No panda Menel?
Eonwe Valar: Fair enough.
ArPharazonV: Menelpandor?
Menelvagor Valar: I played panda for a short while on a friend's
account.
Menelvagor Valar: but stopped way before that.
Menelvagor Valar: Stopped not too long before the dungeon after
Ragnaros was released.
Menelvagor Valar: I used to get my thrills out of raiding, but with
both lack of time and ever diminishing interest in even raiding, the
fun was basically gone.
ArPharazonV: Ah, Dragon Soul.
Menelvagor Valar: Though I must admit, to my shame, I am contemplating
going back in for a while :-P
ArPharazonV: Hmm. Would pet battling be any good for you?
Menelvagor Valar: But it won't happen until I get my new comp at least.
ArPharazonV: *grin* if that takes long enough, we'll be back in Draenor
Menelvagor Valar: It entirely depends on when I can get the money :-P
ArPharazonV: Oh, btw, Eonwe, got the Froglet like... 1 or 2 days after
that forumpost
Eonwe Valar: I've mostly enjoyed Mists of Pandaria. I think there's
been alot to do most of the time, and usually it's fun, hehe. Some of
it even the third or fourth time :}
Eonwe Valar: Congrats! :}
Eonwe Valar: Feel free to brag in there too :}
ArPharazonV: I'm now working on 100 bloody coins to get the Vengeful
Porcupette. That's quite difficult actually.
ArPharazonV: Not sure if you know how bloody coins work, but it
involves making myself hostile to everyone and killing people on the
Isle who have pvp on, from both sides.
ArPharazonV: But you can't fight other people with the same buff as
you, and since the only reason people tend to have pvp on there is for
getting bloody coins... it's a competitive business too :-)
Eonwe Valar: Arg.. Don't tell me that's part of the achievement?
ArPharazonV: I couldn't find it, actually. But I'm a pet collector, so
I want to go for it.
ArPharazonV: No, it's not in there.
Eonwe Valar: That's likely going to be something I skip.
Eonwe Valar: Unless I get the item to do it in battlegrounds.
ArPharazonV: If you want you can probably find the pet on the AH. But I
like to get pets that are not yet caged :-)
ArPharazonV: Ah, yes, but for that you still need 50 bloody coins
first...
Eonwe Valar: Arg....
Eonwe Valar: Ok, then I can say that one is indefinitely shelved. I
haven't had an overwhelming urge to PvP, and I don't have the room to
collect a set of gear for it.
ArPharazonV: Well that's the thing, for me. I'm a raider, and my gear's
way up in the 560s. PvP gear tends to be limited in ilevel, too. I can
actually survive quite well in pvp with just pve gear.
ArPharazonV: The problem is actually finding people with pvp on.
ArPharazonV: I did manage to get someone to transport me to a pvp realm
through the cross-realm party mechanics, but it seems people there tend
to team up a lot against coin-farmers, and are pretty hostile towards
the entire thing, which is kinda understandable.
Eonwe Valar: I'm mostly LFR with some luck on TI upgrades and a tiny
bit from Celestials/Ordos.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, could be tricky then!
Eonwe Valar: Yeah, I'm not surprised. It seems like a fairly obnoxious
thing on a PvE realm, really. People flag themselves for FFA PvP, and
then some of them try to force you into flagging yourself by standing
in top of rare spawn corpses.
Eonwe Valar: The tab-targetting doesn't always help either.
ArPharazonV: Oh, yes, I've seen that used. I've used it by accident,
really, since I happened to be active and yet still wanting to kill
Huolon, so I had no choice but to be in melee :-)
ArPharazonV: But I try not to exploit it. And I try not to attack
people who are in pve fights, or anything. It can rather limit my
targets but I do have my principles.
Menelvagor Valar: People...
Menelvagor Valar: And just checked a pet battling video... not very
convincing so far.
Eonwe Valar: People can PvP in the open world all the want as far as
I'm concerned, but I don't want to be forced into joining them. If
you're not in PvP mode, tab-target should ignore players, imo.
ArPharazonV: *shrug* I'm not much of a battler myself. I just love to
collect em.
ArPharazonV: Aye, Eonwe, that'd be a good change.
ArPharazonV: Anyway, I'm at 36 coins now, since thursday. It's going
slow but steady. I'm wondering whether to go straight to 100 and get my
pet, or get the other item at 50 so I can continue in battlegrounds, or
even the lvl 100 world-pvp-island that's coming in the next expansion.
ArPharazonV: The thing is, the first item has an hour buff with 10
minutes cooldown, which means getting killed isn't too bad.. but the 50
coin item has a 10 minute buff with an hour cooldown. And you need
killing blows. And with the second item, it's only a chance of getting
a coin. So the thing is, with the exception of being usable everywhere,
completely ineffective compared to the first one.
ArPharazonV: 10% chance, even.
Eonwe Valar: If you're going to want to get it done and never look
back, going to 100 is probably the best bet.
ArPharazonV: That's what I was thinking, yes. But there's also a mount
for 500 coins and a series of achievements with title going up to..
10000 coins, I think.
Eonwe Valar: Oh yeah...
ArPharazonV: so if I ever want to go for those it's a decent
investment, especially since the Isle should be abandoned in the next
expansion.
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: Does the other item require KB as well, or just
contribution for the chance of getting a coin?
ArPharazonV: Also KB.
Menelvagor Valar: sucks smaug's fire breath on your hiney, that :-P
ArPharazonV: I think I'll just go for 100, and if I ever want to do
more, I'll get some friends to sacrifice themselves to me for 50 coins
over a period of time ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: You on euro servers as usual Pharzie? :-)
ArPharazonV: Yeah, Argent Dawn still.
ArPharazonV: Heh, from a forum:
ArPharazonV: The only use of it I've found so far is: queue up for BG,
buy it, use it on BG, try to get as many killing blows as possible,
when BG's finished sell it.
ArPharazonV: And by selling it he means getting your 50 coins back :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Well, thing is, if I do get back in, I'm not sure
whether I'd like to try to get back into raiding, but if I do want
that, I'll be better off on Euro servers. Which means you can corpse
camp me to your heart's desire from time to time.
Menelvagor Valar: If not, I'll get onto US servers.
Menelvagor Valar: btw, can you make Pandalins?
ArPharazonV: pala-pandas? Not sure, actually... doubt it.
ArPharazonV: 'pedia says no.
ArPharazonV: Playable classes are monk, hunter, mage, priest, rogue,
shaman, and warrior.
Menelvagor Valar: just checked.
ArPharazonV: Anyway, getting really late. I'm gonna save and send
transcript.
