Before-meeting
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Are you in-game?
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Currently, yes, but only for a few small things like my last few dailies.
VardaValar1: Aiya Eonwe :-)
Eonwe Valar: Heya :}
ArPharazonV: And I think I'll just log and do them post-meeting.
Eonwe Valar: Tried to invite Gwaihir, Arien, Menel, and Gilraen, AIM says they're busy.
VardaValar1: Same
VardaValar1: Did I translate time zones right? This is time to start?
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
VardaValar1: Thanks :-)

VardaValar1: Happily, access to all the programs needed to work on the transcripts and News pages are now downloaded or new passwords set up.
VardaValar1: We should be caught up now on the transcripts, kindly sent in by Ar-Pharazon and Eonwe. Thank you!
ArPharazonV: May many more join them.
VardaValar1: Yay!

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Any non-WoW, non-LotRO gaming that we know of this week?
ArPharazonV: Yepper.
VardaValar1: Faramir plays Left for Dead 2: first person zombie killing.
VardaValar1: Go ahead, Phar
AriehnV has entered the room.
AriehnV: aiya :-)
ArPharazonV: Game of Thrones Ascent, the GoT browser MMO I've been playing, has its anniversary week. If you play that game, and are decently powerful, you can go in and work a few times over a few days to get some unique items, with quite good statistics. And of course just to say you were there for the anniversary :-)
ArPharazonV: Also!
VardaValar1: Neat
ArPharazonV: Much of my flashgaming this week has been in a single game, which is a bit long, but I rather like it.
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/okaybmd/glean-2
ArPharazonV: You play a robot in a spaceship of sorts and you have to explore several types of planets to get a lot of resources, make a ton of item components from them, and then upgrade yourself to be able to access different resources, and upgrade yourself further ;-) And find videologs on the way, which make for a nice story, though that seems of secondary importance.
ArPharazonV: The technology system is a bit complex, but you can easily access the wiki for the game, from the game, so if you're stuck there are always solutions.
VardaValar1: Aiya Arien:-)
ArPharazonV: And if you get all the videologs you'll complete the story, and be able to choose one of 3 factions (the nature of which, the videologs will reveal) in a multiplayer mode, which gives a new MMO element to it.
ArPharazonV: But I'm not that far yet.
ArPharazonV: So enjoy!
ArPharazonV: And that's it for me.
VardaValar1: Sounds interesting

VardaValar1: Eonwe, you had Diablo 3 news?
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: Several newsworth posts have been put on Blizzard's Official D3 site this week.
Eonwe Valar: First is a reminder that D3 will be switching to the new Desktop App for its launcher soon: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/12981543/launcher-update-incoming-what-to-expect-2-18-2014
Eonwe Valar: Next is a reminder of the impending removal of the Auction House: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/12999307/reminder-auction-house-shutdown-coming-soon-2-19-201 4
ArPharazonV: I heard that launcher was terribly buggy for WoW right now. So I'd advise not to upgrade until you have to.
Eonwe Valar: Third is a first look and Clans and Groups for D3: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/12891941/reaper-of-souls%E2%84%A2-first-look-clans-and-commu nities-2-19-2014
Eonwe Valar: Finally, there is a first look at the new Paragon 2.0 system that will be coming with patch 2.0.1: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/13020718/reaper-of-souls%E2%84%A2-first-look-paragon-20-2-21- 2014
Eonwe Valar: I've seen some problems mentioned about it on the bnet app beta board, aye. I intend to wait until forced as well, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: My D3 news is complete.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe. :-)

VardaValar1: WoW:
VardaValar1: Any news from our WoW folk?
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
ArPharazonV: Got one tidbit, personal, will share it later.
VardaValar1: This laptop doesn't currently have that program, so howdy from here.
Eonwe Valar: First, Love is in the Air ends tomorrow, so get your last tries for the achievements/goodies in while you can.
Eonwe Valar: Second, Patch 5.4.7 came out this past week. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/12950619/547-patch-notes-2-17-2014 for the patch notes.
Eonwe Valar: For those of us who enjoy PvP, there's some info on the PvP update coming for Warlords of Draenor: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/12953018/warlords-of-draenor-pvp-update-2-18-2014
Eonwe Valar: Third, Blizzard has posted an Arcraft discussing their approach to updating the Ord Female model: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/12845268/artcraft-daughter-of-draenor-2-19-2014
ArPharazonV: (that's artcraft, not aircraft)
Eonwe Valar: Aye, apparently the "t" in "Art" didn't want to join in on the making of a word, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: They've also updated the Warlords of Draenor page with a look at the Female Dwarf model: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/13020719/character-viewer-updated-female-dwarf-2-20-2014
Eonwe Valar: Finally, Blizzard continues to connect realms: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/11393305/connected-realms-update-220-2-21-2014
VardaValar1: Dwarf women looks pretty fun, lots of expression. But no beards, poor things
Eonwe Valar: So far, Lothar is not being connected with any other realms, but Alleria has been, and Alleria is one that Lothar CRZ's with.
Eonwe Valar: That should cover it for general WoW news.
Eonwe Valar: Nothing exciting on the Lothar front for the moment, hehe.
VardaValar1: No more exciting than usual, you mean. ;-)
VardaValar1: Thank you
VardaValar1: Anyone else have more WoW news?
ArPharazonV: I guess I'll share it now!
ArPharazonV: People might know (or vaguely recall) that my main character is a collector of leatherworking patterns, and indeed throughout the more recent expansions I've always made sure to get all of them within a certain raid-tier or period of "discoveries".
ArPharazonV: And some patterns in some older raids were very rare indeed, and I've seen them discussed as such on forums. For example, I didn't get my last Firelands pattern until we were already well into Mists.
ArPharazonV: But Sunwell Plateau, the BC raid, has such rare patterns, half of them Bind on Pickup (so impossible to find on the AH), that they might be the least found patterns in the game's history.
ArPharazonV: And for the last few years I and a group of friends have, among a few other raids for pets or patterns of achievements, cleared Sunwell every friday, every last trashmob (they only drop from trash) in the entire place, over and over again.
ArPharazonV: But this friday, I was finally successful, with the very last pattern, and I now have every leatherworking pattern in the game! And it's set my mood for the rest of the weekend ;-)
VardaValar1: Congrats! Quite a feat!
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
ArPharazonV: So I'm happy to have gotten this long-time goal completed, and unless they make such a bad, bad droprate with BoP patterns ever again, I hope to stay up to date on this profession from here on :-)
VardaValar1: Good luck with that
ArPharazonV: Thanks!

VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: Please feel free to drop in and let your characters be seen as current.
VardaValar1: I'm working on the 2014 Membership ;page and that helps a lot. :-)
VardaValar1: Also, we need to get back to recruiting. We have not been and the normal attrition rate has begun hurting.
VardaValar1: Any other news, suggestions, comments, jokes?
VardaValar1: We have these meetings so that any member from any game can meet with others and talk with officers.
VardaValar1: And mainly for Tolkien!
VardaValar1: As if we were a Tolkien fan club.

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
Eonwe Valar: Aye. Can't get much more face-to-face without a long drive or a ride on a plane, hehe.
VardaValar1: True!
VardaValar1: Everyone here is in the forum rp
Eonwe Valar: And here there's not the distraction of what's going on in the game to slow communication :}
VardaValar1: For some, they continue to game during the meetings, but aye.
Eonwe Valar: Well, best case scenario there's not :} Can't make everyone else *not* game during the meeting, hehe.
VardaValar1: In the rp, Fainan wants to hear Calion's news
AriehnV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Also, the dwarves seem to have come up during the time Fainan, Calion, and Eonwe were talking, but we just now heard about it.
VardaValar1: Tricky since we already wrote that we were breaking up.
ArPharazonV: Oh, Calion could give Fainan some news about the general area, but if we specifically want news from our upcoming journey's path, the birds will need to go out first :-)
VardaValar1: Sounds good. Birds can scout ahead and around.
AriehnV has entered the room.
AriehnV: back
VardaValar1: Maybe prairie dogs and others could give warning of approaching orcs or men.
ArPharazonV: Aiyata
AriehnV: sorry wrong x lol
VardaValar1: Welcome back
VardaValar1: Happens!
Eonwe Valar: :}
ArPharazonV: "Wait, where'd my chatwindow go?"
Eonwe Valar: Welcome back :}
AriehnV: :-)
VardaValar1: We might also drop by and see Legolas, since he's our boss and might have info for us.
Eonwe Valar: A quick note while I'm thinking of it: If you try to log into the forum with it loaded into the frame of another webpage, it won't let you log in.
VardaValar1: ok, so how do we handle the incoming dwarf party?
VardaValar1: Hey, I just tried the forum and it let me log in while inside our site's frames.
ArPharazonV: "Sorry, we just.. overlooked you."
VardaValar1: Too short!
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: aiya
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
Eonwe Valar: Heya Indis :}
VardaValar1: Aiya Indis :-)
VardaValar1: Good to see you! We were just discussing the rp.
karakedi25: ah, ok
VardaValar1: The dwarves approached the group outside the training grounds, but we had already said we were breaking up. So we're figuring how to handle that.
VardaValar1: Maybe the dwarves have some intel we can pick up since they traveled to Rivendell.
Eonwe Valar: "While the others were about to leave the training grounds" could cover alot of the time spent in the group's last conversation, hehe. Could it cover enough time for some sparring, then to come back and still pass Fainan and Auros on the way out?
VardaValar1: We could change our posts to show we intend to do those things, but we pause when we see Frali and friends.
AriehnV: you can actually say you dont see them and let them pass and move the whole lot to the next day with Elronds post or you can move my post or i delete the last sentence
AriehnV: its easy to adapt
VardaValar1: This is a good spot for the meeting. We just didn't expect it and didn't set up for it.
Eonwe Valar: Which meeting?
ArPharazonV: The meeting with the dwarves.
VardaValar1: All of us were just outside the training grounds.
Eonwe Valar: Were we planning to meet with Dwarves?
VardaValar1: Not planning, but they came out of the training grounds and said hello to us, in the most recent post.
Eonwe Valar: They didn't say hello that I saw, just passed us.
ArPharazonV: I can walk back from the trees and go "Okay, they're on their way- hey, dwarves are here!"
karakedi25: Maybe Meren is taking a walk on a break from her knowledge-slurping.
VardaValar1: What it says is:
VardaValar1: With cheerful laughter the three dwarves left the training grounds. Inevitably their path led past Fainan and Auros.
VardaValar1: Maybe so, Phar.
VardaValar1: Maybe Meren is on her way elsewhere and could see across other paths that the gang is all over there.
karakedi25: That's sort of what I had in mind.
Eonwe Valar: Keep in mind the sun is setting and presumably most of our characters would sleep at night, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: When given the opportunity at least.
AriehnV: rping in my opinion is a lot harder when planned in advance .. really gamm-mastered one ^^ Rp for me is all bout being ready to adapt , improvise , expect the unexpected ^^
VardaValar1: Just that they came up after we said we had broken up, so we have to go back and adapt it, which we can.
AriehnV: And @Eonwe: Dwarves dont sleep at night :-P only if there is no decent beer or vine :-P
VardaValar1: And elves like to celebrate the rising of Valacirca, a la Gildor Inglorion's band.
AriehnV: indeed :-)
Eonwe Valar: Not necessarily. 1.) It doesn't say they interacted with us, just that they passed by. 2.) I think that we should be sparing with edits, especially since we post in spurts. That's why I tried (at least) to word my last post so that edits wouldn't be absolutely required.
Eonwe Valar: We don't want to have to go back and reread the story every couple of weeks in case one of us changed something and readjust a month's worth of posts :}
VardaValar1: Pardon, but the gavel needs to pass to Eonwe for now. I'll try to leave the comp on and look in again later.
Eonwe Valar: Take care :}
VardaValar1: We shall muddle through. Novaer for now.
Eonwe Valar: If you all think a night post would be interesting, by all means, my intent is not to say we can't have more character interaction in the evening :} I just wanted to point out the time of day currently so we knew what time of day was being dealt with.
ArPharazonV: And thanks for that, I do lose track of time in our RP :-)
ArPharazonV: If you'd said it was 8 in the morning I might've believed you too!
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: We are in a forested area, so that would also affect how much light got through for us to see by on our way to our destinations, barring lanterns and other such lightning the way.
Eonwe Valar: *lighting
AriehnV: its fair enough if you dont see them or more likely the dwarves dont see you
AriehnV: not necessary for darkness since dwarves eyes are quite capable of seeiing in the dark .. unlike my own ^^
AriehnV: probably more hushed voices or if they hear movement they stop talking and because of their blending in to the land wont be noticed
Eonwe Valar: I'm curious about that. It's been a while since I did my research on Dwarves, and my most recent reviews on the subject of Dwarvish eyesight tells me they may be nearsighted (in HoME, in relation to their gesture-language).
AriehnV: if you pick up the next day it can be at breakfast or a summon to Elrond
AriehnV: Frali deffinitly is keen on moving on or returning home .. he is keen on action
AriehnV: but he also knows that if he wants to return to the lonely mountain he has to go soon
Eonwe Valar: It hasn't been more than a couple of days (we're on the evening of the day after we arrived I think?) story-wise since we arrived, so it's too early to be *too* restless, story-wise. Or at least I would think it is.
Eonwe Valar: Then again, there are people who just don't like to sit down, hehe :}
Eonwe Valar: I'm also kinda thinking about *when* their path "inevitably led past Fainan and Auros."
Eonwe Valar: 1.) If it was just Fainan and Auros standing there, it may have been as Auros directed a sharp glare at Calion, who seemed to have walked away already by that time based on the posts, and Frali may have decided he didn't want to get into that, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: 2.) It doesn't mention Frali actually noticed Fainan and Auros, so maybe Frali was too busy having fun to notice :}
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Welcome back Indis :}
karakedi25: Thanks. I think my wireless either turned itself off, or a cat walked on it.
Eonwe Valar: Cat eating your internetz, hehe.
karakedi25: that's why my homework disappeared
ArPharazonV: Aiyata :-)
ArPharazonV: and ouch
Eonwe Valar: Calion actually could run into Frali's group on his way back over to Faina, stop to have a conversation or something, and while that's going on, Fainan and Auros go about their business.
Eonwe Valar: *Fainan
ArPharazonV: I could do that.
Eonwe Valar: Just throwing out general ideas. Have we got a chance to see much interaction between Frali and Calion yet?
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, was it Calion or Estarion that gave Frali the sword now?
ArPharazonV: I.. guess I'll check?
AriehnV: Estarion gave Frali the original sword
ArPharazonV: Ah.
Eonwe Valar: Aha.
AriehnV: the corrupted one .. and Meren gave him a replacement
Eonwe Valar: I wonder how Estarion feels about that now :}
ArPharazonV: " "Frali, do you care for a trophy from the Orc you slew? It's all yours.""
AriehnV: a nicer weapon anyway craftmanshipswise
ArPharazonV: That's what Calion said.
Eonwe Valar: Oh wait, so it was Calion?
ArPharazonV: As far as I can tell, yes.
ArPharazonV: http://valarguild.proboards.com/thread/897/scouting-ahead-6-road-rivendell?page=5
AriehnV: it was . somebody threw it more or less at his feet ^^
Eonwe Valar: Aha...
Eonwe Valar: Calion: He pointed at his leg. He leaned on his horse to accomodate Meren, while letting the sword fall on the ground. "Frali, do you care for a trophy from the Orc you slew? It's all yours."
AriehnV: yeah
AriehnV: just read it .. its been a while since then ^^
Eonwe Valar: Just a few posts before I noticed he was saying it was "probably poisoned" and now he's like "oh sure, here, no reason not to keep it as a trophy" :}
Eonwe Valar: Indeed :}
ArPharazonV: Oh yes, my posting is very consistent ;-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: I'm curious, now that we know it was Calion, what Calion thinks about essentially having given such a weapon to Frali, or if he thinks about it, given what affect it seems to have had on the Dwarf?
ArPharazonV: Not his best moment, probably, but the dwarf did accept it freely.
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: I'm not sure this would fall into any "how could they *not* have known?" kind of questions, hehe. Probably enough up in the air about it, not really anyone at fault, that kind of thing. Not like Calion was plotting to make himself a Dwarf-wraith or something :}
ArPharazonV: As far as you know..
Eonwe Valar: hehehe
Eonwe Valar: Anyway, at least as far as who's in the same place at the same time, Calion and Frali at least look like they *might* be nearby eachother. Indis, you said something about maybe Meren taking a walk?
Eonwe Valar: We know where Fainan and Auros went, so I think that leaves Estarion as the mystery, hehe
ArPharazonV: Nothing new there!
AriehnV: Estarion the mystery elf ^^
karakedi25: That seems the best way for Meren to join up with the others.
karakedi25: As for timing, I've been going on the assumption that we are in our second day or later.
Eonwe Valar: Day 1 being our arrival, we would be on the evening of Day 2, aye.
Eonwe Valar: One sec, trying to establish what post declared the sun was setting.
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, closest I'm coming on a quick glance is in my post: "There was still light in the sky when he completed his tasks, and so he had come here"
Eonwe Valar: Didn't someone have a post about lanterns starting to be lit?
Eonwe Valar: Looks like it's safe to declare Aftermeeting :}
Eonwe Valar: *bangs gavel*
Eonwe Valar: Aftermeeting:
ArPharazonV: "Daylight was fading and Fainan was still stuck in the library"
ArPharazonV: As far as I can tell, we were all studying through the night while Auros was meeting up with friends?
Eonwe Valar: First night, aye.
Eonwe Valar: Frali was off with other Dwarves I think?
ArPharazonV: Well, my "all" wasn't as inclusive as I made it sound.
karakedi25: that was the first night
Eonwe Valar: Fair enough, hehe. Just trying to establish where everyone was at the time.
ArPharazonV: I just meant to point out that apparently, we have not slept.
Eonwe Valar: The next day, the Elves of Mirkwood were still studying, took a break for food, *almost* got to talk to Auros before he got called off by Elrond and assigned the task of studying the sword, then went back to the library or off on a walk.
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, that's a good point there too.
Eonwe Valar: No wonder you all are trying to run off! You're afraid you'll fall asleep and actually get some rest! :}
ArPharazonV: Hah.
AriehnV: well at Frali got to bed :-P although he was hungover ;-)
AriehnV: when he got up hehe
AriehnV: so i ll see your posts pm me or Pharzi can tickly me in game if i have to change my post somewhere but i am getting quite sleepy here :-\
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well Arien :}
karakedi25: Meren is delighted to be in Imladris and is in no great hurry to leave :-P
ArPharazonV: I'll make a post somewhere in the next days.. or weeks... where Calion can meet up with Frali.
Eonwe Valar: Hehehe :}
karakedi25: nn Arien
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
AriehnV: goodnight :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
karakedi25: goodnight
karakedi25 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well Indis, belatedly :}
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Back for a moment.
Eonwe Valar: WB :}
ArPharazonV: Aiyata
VardaValar1: Fainan is restless because to her they were on a chase, going after the possessing sorceror, and they're now way behind.
VardaValar1: Stopping for some quick answers to what they were chasing and how to catch or kill it, since Elrond knows practically everything.
ArPharazonV: Eh, we all need a break sometimes.
Eonwe Valar: We weren't really on a chase. We have no reason per se to be chasing Calion's brother, other than it's his brother and he issued a challenge to come find him or some such.
VardaValar1: Now the quarry will go to ground in his home territory and be really tough to nab.
Eonwe Valar: No reason from within the story, of course.
VardaValar1: We are trying to save Mirkwood.
Eonwe Valar: We don't know that he has anything to do with what's going on in Mirkwood, so far as I recall.
ArPharazonV: True. Our main target is the staff; we have nothing to actually connect him with the possessed elf.
ArPharazonV: *it
VardaValar1: The bad guy was attacking it
VardaValar1: ok, guess I'll have to do a reread
VardaValar1: Anyway, take care all.
VardaValar1: Namarie
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well :}
VardaValar1 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie Varda, though late.
Eonwe Valar: So far as I recall (and feel free to correct me on this if you recall better, Phar) the only connection we have in-story for the thing using Calion's brother is that it seemed to want to capture Auros. That has been thwarted.
Eonwe Valar: Other than it seems to be going to the same place we are?
ArPharazonV: It's tough to separate player knowledge from character knowledge, especially with what *we* know about the sword, or have suggested about it. But yes, it has not shown itself to be a real threat to the realm, so far.
ArPharazonV: It's mostly just going our way, yes. And it's not the only one to do so :-)
Eonwe Valar: So it's more of a race than a chase.
Eonwe Valar: At least for now.
ArPharazonV: Sounds about right. It's challenged us to find it, as well, but that is only a secondary objective of our mission.
Eonwe Valar: A reason to be restless after all, I suppose, but still, getting there and knowing what to do with it once we have it are both going to be important.
Eonwe Valar: "We" in this sense being our characters.
ArPharazonV: Anyway, saving and sending transcript. If you want to speculate more on this after saving, you know where to send it :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: Probably not much point in speculating alone :}
ArPharazonV: You can brainstorm.
