ArPharazonV: Guess I'll poke bnet.
VardaValar1: Thanks :-)
ArPharazonV: Arien poked.
VardaValar1: :-)

AriehnV: aiya all :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Aiya Sunshine :-)
AriehnV: how are you guys?
ArPharazonV: Good!
ArPharazonV: You?
VardaValar1: Heya, trying not to be too swamped. Good to see you. :-)
VardaValar1: Doing invites
AriehnV: Tired ^^
AriehnV: but not bad
AriehnV: .. ha indeed . "Master of Fate* . mastered by fate rather .. sigh
VardaValar1: Trying to invite someone but it looks like the usual group chat problem
AriehnV: ah has he got a wrong aim version?
AriehnV: or she?
VardaValar1: He
Scott92027 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Elladan, welcome to the chat room. :-)
Scott92027: thanks
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: We're just about to start. Good you could make it in.

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: Elladan is our newest member, came in through LotRO.
AriehnV: hey there :-)
VardaValar1: Ellandan, would you like to introduce yourself to the guild? :-)
AriehnV: Aiya and welcome to our middle :-)
Scott92027: I met Varda through LotRO :-)
VardaValar1: We call this "saying your few words". :-)
Scott92027: always had a connection with the elves, since I was young.
Scott92027: anyway, hey, I live in Florida, USA
Scott92027: been here 13, almost 14 years, from Albany NY originally
Scott92027: I'm a computer geek, programming/web dev/design, and also a passion for playing guitar (25+ years).
Scott92027: *crickets*
VardaValar1: We're listening. :-)
VardaValar1: You just endeared yourself to nearly everyone reading this.
Scott92027: haha what else? I used to like long walks on the beach, etc
Scott92027: haha
VardaValar1: How did you pick Elladan for a name?
Scott92027: my passions include gaming, cooking,
VardaValar1: Pardon, go ahead.
Scott92027: Actually you helped me Varda!
AriehnV: tell us then :-)
AriehnV: she knows you know but the rest of us dont
Scott92027: it was just a suggested name from a list of available ones
ArPharazonV: That list being the index to LotR? ;-)
VardaValar1: You said you wanted an elf from the time of the War of the Rings, a short list there.
Scott92027: aye. I am a fan, but by no means a historian of the books
ArPharazonV: Ah.
Scott92027: Please bare with me. I am trying... VERY new to this whole environment
VardaValar1: Maybe the group here could make a stab at that short list?
Scott92027: actually a virgin to it
VardaValar1: What names can we come up with for elves at the time of the LotR?
ArPharazonV: Elrond, Arwen, Legolas, Galadriel, Celeborn, Elladan, Elrohir, Haldir...
AriehnV: Glorfindel, Gildor
VardaValar1: Has to be a guy name, but that's a wonderful list.
AriehnV: Erestor
ArPharazonV: Thranduil
VardaValar1: and has to be not taken.
ArPharazonV: Ah, don't know about that, I'd need to get the memberlist ;-)
VardaValar1: So that gives a good start
ArPharazonV: Cirdan
Scott92027: All that aside, thank you for the warm welcome, and glad to have made your acquaintances
VardaValar1: Good to have you with us.
ArPharazonV: ...Figwit?
Scott92027: not often
Scott92027: but when I do, I prefer... dos Hobbits
VardaValar1: hehe - Figwit
Scott92027: Varda, as you can see, I have chosen to work on my hunter a bit more
Scott92027: seems to fit my playstyle. I think you'll see me on my loremaster some too
VardaValar1: Both are good dps casters, sounds like a particular style choice.
Scott92027: LM has more options
VardaValar1: RK might be fiun for you too, but LM is a real powerhouse.
Scott92027: I have a RK
Scott92027: and I love the HoT aspect of healing
Scott92027: I love my LM, and the versatility of control, heals, etc is limited to the user's aptitude
VardaValar1: Thanks for giving us your Few Words. We've all been through it, can be nerve-wracking the first time.
Scott92027: however, to play a hunter to it's FULLEST I believe also requires some skill
VardaValar1: It does, aye.
Scott92027: and no problem. I am very sociable. I just wasn't sure what we were talking about with first words
VardaValar1: Knowing to reverse the solo hits in strength when in a group, for instance
VardaValar1: It's an intro. Some never said more than one line, some write a lot.
Scott92027: Four score and twenty years ago.......
VardaValar1: hehehe
VardaValar1: Continuing with membership news,
VardaValar1: This is the end of the year check to see who is still
interested in being associatated with the Tolkien fan club and gamers'
group.
ArPharazonV: Where's that quote from? It sounds familiar, but I don't really have the classics in my head.
VardaValar1: If you see some of the gang online such as in Europe, we
don't have everyone's email, so please relay or ask them to toss Varda
an email.
Scott92027: OH MY quote?
VardaValar1: Helm, Aragorn for instance
VardaValar1: Aye, your quote.
Scott92027: The Gettysburg Adress, from Abraham Lincoln
ArPharazonV: Ah, thanks :-)
VardaValar1: Also, schedules will be weird all around thanks to the Christmas holidays.
VardaValar1: With luck, we'll be seeing each other more at the odd times of day.
ArPharazonV: Do any of the major holiday-days fall on sunday this year?
VardaValar1: I'll be away a fair bit during cooking time and taking
care of a houseful of guests, but hope to be able to hop in on the
notebook computer.
ArPharazonV: Next sunday's the 28th... so it should be fine.
VardaValar1: I expect to be around for meetings, no worries.
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
VardaValar1: Hi from Bilbo and Sauron. Meriadoc will be coming to our house during the week.
AriehnV: cool :-)
AriehnV: say hello to him from me :-)
VardaValar1: He'll most likely pop into LotRO on my desktop, so maybe you'll get to say hi there too
ArPharazonV: Hi to all 3!
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
AriehnV: cool :-)
top
VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: Eonwe has put up news on the Games Site during the week as well as for the Sunday meeting.
VardaValar1: We ran into a bandwidth problem for those parts of our
site on Alatar's server, but the other parts have no problem.
VardaValar1: Has anyone had a problem vieiwing the site?
AriehnV: the gaming site?
VardaValar1: Any of the site
ArPharazonV: watching the gaming news, I realized I haven't done the winter veil daily in WoW yet. I'll get on it!
VardaValar1: The Gaming, Tolkien, main community
ArPharazonV: No problems here, so far.
VardaValar1: Good to hear!
VardaValar1: On the website, pardon, Eonwe mailed this:
VardaValar1: if anyone wants to help
keep an eye on gaming news and let me know about it, it'd be
appreciated. I can't visit every game's official page daily, after all,
hehe.
VardaValar1: /endquote
AriehnV: works fine for me as well and looks awesome
VardaValar1: He found out a lot of pics weren't up for the 16th anniversary, had no idea, for the Games Site.
AriehnV: should point out for Phara and me that we are in e
VardaValar1: He's asking people to let him know if there's a problem
AriehnV: Europe and not US
AriehnV: Pharas charaters arent up there yet either but maybe he hasnt sent them yet ^^
VardaValar1: Ok, be sure he knows
VardaValar1: Email is the way to go
top
VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: World of WarCraft:
ArPharazonV: Oh. No. I hadn't. I hadn't created any new characters in
the last year and I figured that if anyone wanted to contact me, they
could go through AIM or something first.
VardaValar1: News from Eonwe:
ArPharazonV: So sending in character names didn't seem relevant.
ArPharazonV: Allright, continue :-)
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar, but not everyone uses AIM. Some absolutely refuse to touch it.
VardaValar1: From Eonwe:
VardaValar1: Check out the
latest hotfixes.
VardaValar1: The
Feast of Winterveil
is upon us!
VardaValar1: See how the Grommash statue at Blizzcon 2014 was made in the new blog
From the Forge – Making Grommash Hellscream.
ArPharazonV: That's fair. But I suppose I'll throw out a few lists of
characters if/when Eonwe is present for a meeting again. Doesn't seem
important enough to email about.
VardaValar1: StarCraft 2:
VardaValar1: More updates to Terran unit info on the Blizzard website. See it in the blog
You're Going in with the Big Guns.
VardaValar1: We also got an update on the next expansion concerning
multiplayer adjustments.
VardaValar1 has left the room.
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: and too many windows open, clicked an x, pardon.
VardaValar1: For those interested, you can see the
new ladder maps for season 1 of 2015.
VardaValar1: I'll have to drop out of LotRO for better efficiency, pardon.
VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: Yule festival
is going!
VardaValar1: Eonwe asks folks to send in news for their favorite games
or any they think of general interest to improve the gaming news.
Together we can do a really fantastic job.
VardaValar1: If you'd like to cc me on that, it will also go on the general, everything News page
VardaValar1: Any other business, suggestions, comments, gently worded gripes? :-)
VardaValar1: And Eonwe would be glad to put up your reviews of games on the Games Site as well.
VardaValar1: A bit of WoW news from the Lothar server branch of Valar:
VardaValar1: WoW news: Bofur, Nob,
and I grouped up for a heroic dungeon with Nob's girlfriend, and then
the three of us completed another garrison invasion with a gold rating.
VardaValar1: (I is Eonwe)
VardaValar1: Any other Valar branch news anyone wants to mention?
VardaValar1: In LotRO, we've been going through the Big Battles. The jewelry is really nice, and you get barter tokens.
VardaValar1: We're learning the essence system and find we need to work
our crafter characters up to have the needed rep to make top level
essences.
VardaValar1: If there is no other news...?
ArPharazonV: Nothing general, no.
VardaValar1: Ok, we'll enjoy your personal in the After-meeting. :-)
AriehnV: *got corehound mount in Wow :-()
VardaValar1: fun
Scott92027: from BC?
AriehnV: Molten Core
VardaValar1: Now taking suggestions for today's Tolkien topic or you get mine. Side window please.
AriehnV: the instance
Scott92027: oops I meant MC
ArPharazonV: Bolten Moor.
AriehnV: the anniversary raid aye :-) i torturered myself through lfr for it hehe
ArPharazonV: Eh, nevermind that, reference to an obscure WoW video.
VardaValar1: Which you will now have to hunt up the url for to give during After-meeting. ;-)
AriehnV: but the group i gotr in friday night was luckily not too bad apart from a few wipes ^^
VardaValar1: Any Tolkien topics? Last call.
top
VardaValar1: Tolkien:
ArPharazonV: I got the Desolation of Smaug EE this week?
VardaValar1: First off, how many here have seen the movie for Hobbit 3?
VardaValar1: Very nice, Arien!
AriehnV: i have :-D
ArPharazonV: I'm waiting until Christmas to see the second, so no, I've not seen the third ;-)
VardaValar1: Ok, that means we can't do any spoilers. Good to know!
ArPharazonV: Spoilers don't bother me, I've read the book anyway.
ArPharazonV: It might just be difficult to contribute :-)
VardaValar1: The movie and book are not quite the same.
ArPharazonV: Yeah, but spoilers.. pfah. I've grown insensitive to them a long time ago.
VardaValar1: One reason for that is that the movies started from LotR,
but Tolkien started with the Hobbit and had no idea what the LotR was
going to be or that it would exist at the time.
ArPharazonV: I even tend to read books at random, leafing between different chapters.
VardaValar1: It also means I can put "No spoilers given" on the transcript before people click on it.
VardaValar1: This leads into the topic, by the way.
ArPharazonV: Hmm yes. LotR was after The Hobbit, which meant for an expansion of the world it was set in in the books...
AriehnV: helps in books like the Silmarillion and truth to be told the
movie feels at times like this .. i mean like reading random chapters
of other books
VardaValar1: How does the Hobbit manage to lead into the LotR, in the books?
ArPharazonV: and the movie of The Hobbit was after LotR, which meant the setting could be expanded to be based on LoTR.
VardaValar1: Right.
VardaValar1: JRRT did get to retrofit, but only a little.
ArPharazonV: And, as A->B and B->C can conclude to A->C... the Hobbit was rather expanded on between book and movie :-)
VardaValar1: He went back to say that Bilbo had told a false account of
how he got the One Ring, and this is the corrected version.
Scott92027: :-)
VardaValar1: But he couldn't do a major lot of changes, as he was being pushed to finish the LotR.
ArPharazonV: Oh yes. I've never read the original version, only that of it which is mentioned in the LotR prologue.
ArPharazonV: As far as retconning goes, though, it was handled pretty well.
VardaValar1: Agreed.
ArPharazonV: Though I wonder if it would be just as acceptable in media today :-)
VardaValar1: He would probably have enjoyed a lot more retconning, but
didn't have the opportunity. This I'm really not that upset with Peter
Jackson as some are.
AriehnV: yeah what was the fake story again that Bilbo told about the ring ? i *lush forgot*#
VardaValar1: heh
VardaValar1: What else do we see that helped us transition between the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings?
ArPharazonV: We saw Gloin in Rivendell? :-)
AriehnV: characters like Elrond as wel and Gandalf
AriehnV: as well .. dont mind my typing .. i blame that on my tiredness
ArPharazonV: We almost saw Balin.
VardaValar1: His tomb, aye.
VardaValar1: That was a strong transition.
VardaValar1: And the ones that went with him.
VardaValar1: Aye, Arien
AriehnV: the map, Thorins map , the mithril shirt and Sting
ArPharazonV: The trolls.
VardaValar1: Good
AriehnV: oh yes and that stupid little trinket .. the least of them all
VardaValar1: hehe
ArPharazonV: Gollum too!
VardaValar1: Aye, Gollum assumes an important role, no longer just a bit player.
VardaValar1: JRRT enjoyed slipping in more and more of his mythology,
something we see just barely in the Hobbit but comes out much more
strongly in the LotR.
ArPharazonV: If it wasn't for the fact that Bilbo got out of there with
a ring of invisibility, the whole part surrounding Gollum would've felt
as wedged in and irrelevant as Tom Bombadil's piece in LotR.
ArPharazonV: But then Gollum showed up in LotR :-)
ArPharazonV: And yes, you are right. Valar mythology, remnants of Numenor, Orcs instead of just goblins..
VardaValar1: An explanation of how orcs had a lot of types, and something about why.
VardaValar1: The fun of digging out all those bits scattered around both the Hobbit and LotR.
VardaValar1: Like gold nuggets.
VardaValar1: JRRT was fond of inference, did it on purpose.
AriehnV: Dale is another link :-)
VardaValar1: I know he went right over my head in the first reading!
AriehnV: and Esgaroth
VardaValar1: True
AriehnV: you know the old and new
AriehnV: the destroyed and restored
ArPharazonV: At the time of LotR, the First Age was reduced to a
synopsis and the Second Age was barely in existence. But there was
enough of it to make LotR feel like it was sitting on a rich and
developed history.
VardaValar1: Aye, gave it a huge depth.
ArPharazonV: Like a thin surface area that gives the illusion of there
being a massive depth underneath... while in truth it was just the
surface area, and the depth was still under construction for the
appendices of the third book ;-)
ArPharazonV: Let that be a lesson for all of us who write epic stories!
You don't need to *have* a fully developed history just to give the
idea that there is one.
VardaValar1: But he really did have a deep one.
VardaValar1: It shows, can't help it, whenn there is a lot of underpinning.
ArPharazonV: Oh yes, but far less deep than you might think when you read LotR. At the time of writing, anyway.
ArPharazonV: That's especially clear when you read the books in the
History of Middle-Earth about the writing of LotR, and the writing of
the appendices. When timelines and chapters have references that shift
hundreds or even thousands of years, you realize that history was not
as set in stone as it might come out. This is mostly true for the
second and third age.
VardaValar1: Agreed. He had the history, but not exact.
VardaValar1: He kept playing with it and had hoped to have much more done but was taken from this earth untimely.
ArPharazonV: Suddenly, the Second Age is twice as long, and the Third Age three times as long as 3 pages ago :-)
VardaValar1: hehe - oops
VardaValar1: Anything else for transition?
VardaValar1: We see bits, such as Gimli being the son of Gloin.
VardaValar1: Elrond raises Aragorn from a two-year old.
VardaValar1: Legolas is the son of the Elven-king
VardaValar1: So the problems Gloin and Thranduil had move into LotRO a bit.
ArPharazonV: And yet Aragorn wasn't mentioned in the Hobbit, and
neither was Legolas :-) And there's the benefit of making a prequel out
of a book that was actually earlier... you can add in stuff like that!
VardaValar1: Thranduil's name was not given in The Hobbit either.
ArPharazonV: Not a bad idea, really. Take a series of books, make the
movies in reverse order, and see what references to the later books you
can shoehorn into the later movies/earlier books ;-)
VardaValar1: One would expect Bilbo to have met ten-year old Aragorn in Rivendell, if JRRT had known.
VardaValar1: fun thought
VardaValar1: A number of series of books do something like that.
VardaValar1: They go back into the history.
ArPharazonV: That's true.
VardaValar1: Dragonriders of Pern,, Dragonlance
VardaValar1: Does anyone have anything else to add?
VardaValar1: *looks through the ehelf full of gavels*
VardaValar1: *this looks good*
VardaValar1: *swings around overhead*
VardaValar1: *ka-thoooooom!*
top
VardaValar1: After-meeting!
VardaValar1: Free chat.
ArPharazonV: Personal gaming news time!
VardaValar1: I should mention that LotRO is now in Update 15.1.
VardaValar1: Aye
ArPharazonV: I too have gotten my molten core mount this week, in WoW.
AriehnV: Dwaaaagon
AriehnV: thats another link =-O
ArPharazonV: Ah yes! The dragon fireworks being a reference to Smaug?
AriehnV: *the firework at the party ^^ sorry
AriehnV: aye
Scott92027: hey guys
Scott92027: who else plays LotRO?
ArPharazonV: I'm probably one of few in the current Valarguild who does *not* play LotRO ;-)
Scott92027: k
Scott92027: so ariehnv does?
Scott92027: I inhaled the husk of a popcorn kernel
Scott92027: can't get it up
VardaValar1: Need to cough hard?
VardaValar1: Lean way over?
VardaValar1: Some of us play LotRO plus other games.
VardaValar1: Sauron doesn't play LotRO now, but plays SWTOR, Dragon Age, and others.
VardaValar1: Bilbo's computer wasn't able to handle LotRO, although with the upgraded hardware he probably can now.
VardaValar1: Arien plays LotRO and others.
Scott92027: been trying
Scott92027: Im still here
AriehnV: I play WoW too but in Europe on Earthen Ring and Argent Dawn Server
Scott92027: ah
ArPharazonV: I'm more into Blizzard games and online flashgames these days.
VardaValar1: The lag ater her up.
Scott92027: I only play here now
ArPharazonV: Though I try to make time for a few others now and then.
Scott92027: used to play WoW
VardaValar1: I play a batch of games, but LotRO is my main.
Scott92027: have 10 90s on Suramar
AriehnV: i am playing a bit LotrO and SwotR as well so a bit all over the plays :-)
VardaValar1: The Valar Guild branch for Alliance is on Lothar server, for Horde is Uldaman server.
AriehnV: place even
Scott92027: I have SwotR too
Scott92027: Huttball!
VardaValar1: The Valar branch on SWTOR is on Ebon Hawke
VardaValar1: Sauron is branch master there
VardaValar1: Has both light and dark sides.
VardaValar1: Eonwe is the WoW branch master.
VardaValar1: Pallando has EVE Online
VardaValar1: as branch master.
VardaValar1: People for contact.
AriehnV: i used to have Europe but unfortunatly that was non viable as people dropped out or were busy in other guilds
VardaValar1: I'm for LotRO, Landroval server.
Scott92027: I am TORN between loremaster and hunter on LOTRO
AriehnV: but it was good and we did have some fun toghether as long as it existed
VardaValar1: So do both. :-)
Scott92027: and I am
Scott92027: I have 6 or 7 toon
Scott92027: w
Scott92027: s
Scott92027: I mean for the first to 100
Scott92027: that's a time sink
VardaValar1: Some can be run along about the same time.
AriehnV: err 9 *blushes* ---> altoholic
VardaValar1: 21 on one account, less than that on another, and one on a free to play.
Scott92027: Arien, are you on our LotRO server?
VardaValar1: Sort of happened.
AriehnV: yus
ArPharazonV: 11 characters on my main server, and about 4 or 5
single-digit alts on other servers that I created for one reason or
other but don't actually have any intention of really playing. Ever.
Scott92027: I am Tearlach on my LM
AriehnV: on Landroval
Scott92027: Adraelden on my hunter
Scott92027: and Abriel on my 50 mini
VardaValar1: Aye, Arien is in our kin in LotRO, officer. :-)
Scott92027: I figured
Scott92027: helllllllllllllllllllllp me
ArPharazonV: Of the 11 though, they range between 10 and 100; one at 100, one at 90, one at 61 or so, and the rest under 50.
Scott92027: I can't level 3 at a time
Scott92027: oh wait
Scott92027: yes I can
Scott92027: I'm a lifer
VardaValar1: Yes, you can.
AriehnV: Tearlach eh? no fan of the bonnie prince are we ;0?#
Scott92027: I have no idea where you got that
Scott92027: that was my bard's name in UO back in 97
AriehnV: Bonnie Prince Charlie .. also known as Tearlach amongst Gaelic speakers
Scott92027: nay
Scott92027: never heard of it
AriehnV: Charles Edward Steward .. a royal rebel jacobite , pretender to the Scottish throne in the 1740s
AriehnV: and defeated in the battle of Culloden in 1745
AriehnV: look him up if you like :-) he is a fascinating character and a lot of romances go about it
AriehnV: and before you ask .. i live in Scotland :-)
Scott92027: aye, you're Scottish?
Scott92027: got it
Scott92027: I have a friend in Fife
AriehnV: nope .. not if you put it that way , i am a German who lives on the isle of sSkye
AriehnV: in Five? where?
AriehnV: Fife even .. stupid typist
Scott92027: Ah Varda said you were Scandinavian
Scott92027: but German
Scott92027: nah
Scott92027: I'M Scandinavian
Scott92027: well half
Scott92027: half Danish,half Italian
Scott92027: 100% American
VardaValar1: Sounds very American. :-)
Scott92027: don't back that
VardaValar1: I'm a mutt, come from all over Western Europe, but very definitely American.
AriehnV: hehe
Scott92027: lol
Scott92027: Varda
Scott92027: do you understand Danish?
Scott92027: Varda forsøger at spille for begge hold
Scott92027: lolol
ArPharazonV: I'm Dutch going back at least 5 generations or so. Before that, who knows?
VardaValar1: And Phar is from the Netherlands. Tolkien is very big over there.
Scott92027: I bet
ArPharazonV: All our ancestors come from Africa at some point!
Scott92027: says you
Scott92027: It wasn't Africa then
Scott92027: if you believe in evolution we had one big continent
VardaValar1: Says a lot of diggers, but more like northern Africa, wasn't it?
AriehnV: Pangaea ^^
ArPharazonV: ...Rather different in time scale, but sure :-)
Scott92027: and
AriehnV: or that yes :-) ah Ea ...
Scott92027: sorry, I used to be a bio/chem major
ArPharazonV: Earth Sciences here.
Scott92027: still trying to clear the kernel from my lung
VardaValar1: Once biochem, always biochem. :-)
Scott92027: brb
Scott92027: yeah kinda
AriehnV: no matter we are all inhabitants of Middleearth here :-)
ArPharazonV: And probably more.. Eastern Africa, Varda.
Scott92027: still follow it
ArPharazonV: Haha, true, Arien.
VardaValar1: Eastern, thanks
ArPharazonV: Rift Valley, I think...
VardaValar1: Biology major, Chemistry minor here, With some computer classes later.
Scott92027: sec guys
Scott92027: phone
VardaValar1: No worries, this is After-meeting.
ArPharazonV: Still, it was already Africa at that time ;-)
ArPharazonV: Except that we hadn't named it Africa yet!
VardaValar1: lot of math electives.
AriehnV: ((i feel so stupid without University degree .. does a three year college course count =-O ))
VardaValar1: Have to let Phar handle most of the archaeology. :-)
VardaValar1: Yes, it counts! So does life experience.
ArPharazonV: Oh, I don't have a *degree*. I bashed my face into theses
and essays that I couldn't wrap my brain around, then dropped out...
now trying to find a job.
Scott92027: OMG
Scott92027: this guy
Scott92027: I have 2 degrees
Scott92027: doesn't mean ****
ArPharazonV: Not the actual studying that was a problem, but more the
longer-term projects on my own that I'm really not suited for, like
research projects or experiments etc.
AriehnV: good luck with ther job hunt ::-)
VardaValar1: If you can handle these Tolkien chats, you probably can wrap your head around anything you want to now. :-)
VardaValar1: They keep makinng more area for us to play in, more fun, despite two layoffs this year.
ArPharazonV: Took a long time for that to sink in, still not too happy
about it. Might give it another crack in a few years, but for now I'm
done with education and just want to be able to make a living.
VardaValar1: Answering all the side windows in here for a sec, *puff*. :-)
Scott92027: yeah
VardaValar1: Two degrees, had to have learned something and it sounds great.
ArPharazonV: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152839095846558 new vid on PJ's facebook, btw.
Scott92027: I tried
VardaValar1: Meriadoc has a stack of sheepskin too.
ArPharazonV: Oh yes, can't deny that. Titles and degrees and diplomas do look good during the jobhunt.
VardaValar1: I learned that if it wasn't a fairly recent degree, it didn't much matter to HR people.
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar! Taking a look
Scott92027: I learned lots about science
Scott92027: and business
Scott92027: I have a BS in bio/chem
Scott92027: and a BBA in accounting
Scott92027: and now studying HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript
Scott92027: if you guys are gonna be here for a bit
Scott92027: I gotta go see a friend, who is struggling with some ****
VardaValar1: Namarie, Elladan :-)
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1: This is the wee hours for them, so probably not
Scott92027: k
VardaValar1: Enjoying that video, Phar
Scott92027: I'll be back later with luck
Scott92027: talk soon
VardaValar1: Later :-)
Scott92027: I don't know how to say by
Scott92027: e
Scott92027: I know Aiya
Scott92027: or
VardaValar1: type Namarie
Scott92027: k
VardaValar1: Aiya is Hail
Scott92027: Namarie
VardaValar1: There you go!
ArPharazonV: Didn't we have a short list of expressions like that?
ArPharazonV: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/lang/IrmoElvish.htm here, try this one
VardaValar1: We backed off of most of those, but used to use the whole list.
VardaValar1: Now it's mostly Aiya, Namarie, Aiyata
ArPharazonV: Hantalye?
VardaValar1: Rarely used, but we should bring it back
VardaValar1: We're picking up more Sindarin now, used to be all Quenya
VardaValar1: That's because LotRO is during the War of the Rings, when they all speak Sindarin.
VardaValar1: Mae govannen, suillad
AriehnV: yeah and i have to work tomorrow for a chanvge albeit at twelve o clock midday
AriehnV: but its going to be another long day until quarter to ten
ArPharazonV: Well, I'll be doing my personal gaming news now then!
VardaValar1: and you can read it on the transcript. :-)
ArPharazonV: As I said I've got my molten core mount now, just like
Arien :-) Did Molten Core one more time after that, trying to get the
pet.. I aim to get a few more goes in, but they can take like 3 hours
to do.
VardaValar1: Be sure to save, Phar, since I crashed and burned earlier!
ArPharazonV: Will do!
VardaValar1: Le hannon. :-)
ArPharazonV: Gotten my first follower levelled to epic quality, want to
get a lot more of those! Also I still don't have enough resources for
my level 3 garrison. It keeps swinging around the amount needed, but I
want to make sure I have a surplus to be able to continue my missions.
ArPharazonV: Maybe next week!
ArPharazonV: Hearthstone: Gotten my first 2 classes to level 31, the
others are near. If I can get the games in I should be able to get them
all to 31 in a week.
VardaValar1: That's the spirit!
ArPharazonV: And flashgaming... not a lot, really. Been a rather busy
week and busier weekend, even without a job ;-) I'll give two games
though!
VardaValar1: Than, you
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/crafics/globetrotter-xl
Globetrotter XL is a game that'll test and teach your world geography
:-) You get a world map, are told city names and countries, and have to
pinpoint them as accurately as possible to score points. You need more
and more points as the levels progress, so it'll take quite a few
tries, but eventually you should be an expert on all the major cities!
AriehnV: oh yeah i ve got Leeroy Jenkins as follower on one of my heroic able characters and Croman on another :-)
ArPharazonV: Oh, grats! I've yet to get those. Not done much heroiccing myself.
AriehnV: got a caster and a melee heroic ready so that shall do it i thnk hehe
AriehnV: well i ve got the Tavern at the garrison so if your after the rewarsds and trinkets from that lyou dont get round them
AriehnV: and done a couple of lfr with the guild but i dont have that much time for gameing now anyway
ArPharazonV: Ah right. Don't have one of those yet. Want to work on other buildings first.
ArPharazonV: If you're into puzzle games, try
http://www.kongregate.com/games/MoonberryStudios/picma-picture-enigmas
as the second flashgame I give this week :-) Been taking up a lot of my
flashgame time.
ArPharazonV: part of it is behind a paywall (well, a currency you can
also get from rating other people's maps etc, but I don't really bother
with it) but there are plenty of free puzzles to keep you busy for some
time.
VardaValar1: /facepalm Not busy enough? :-)
VardaValar1: Sounds fun
ArPharazonV: Well I do have some time for it, just not as much as I'd like!
ArPharazonV: Or as much as I usually have.
ArPharazonV: I blame the holidays.
VardaValar1: Same here :-)
ArPharazonV: Annnd yeah, that'll do it for me. As for Garrison
buildings, no, I don't have the inn yet... and I won't have it for a
while. When I do get level 3 garrison I'll focus on adding the lumber
mill, salvage yard and... what was it...
ArPharazonV: stables, I believe.
ArPharazonV: Gotta get those mounts!
VardaValar1: Right!
VardaValar1: afk, seeing about supper for the mobs on Taniquetil
AriehnV: i am sure you ll find something
ArPharazonV: What do the Valar eat?
AriehnV: Lembas? Cram?
AriehnV: something of the kind i think ^^ they used to hunt so i guess venison was on the table sometimes as well :-)
ArPharazonV: What, in the deathless land? :-)
AriehnV: but bed time now *yawns* .. well death by age mabe or illness .. but they could be killed
ArPharazonV: allright, Namarie!
AriehnV: Namarie for now and Mara lom :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Back
VardaValar1: Orome the Hunter was a Vala. They had hunting dogs, Huan
for one who was probably a Maia himself who liked hound form.
VardaValar1: Yavanna surely put fruit and vegetables on the table.
ArPharazonV: Each had their specialty.
VardaValar1: Gives a varied table. :-)
ArPharazonV: Perhaps Aule made the cutlery.
VardaValar1: and the plates, cups, glasses, lighting fixtures. Busy guy, lots of helpers.
ArPharazonV: Yep.
VardaValar1: The elves, including the Vanyar, needed to hunt to be good
in the end times when Manwe comes down from the Mountain.
VardaValar1: That would be an amazing song.
VardaValar1: One wonders if, being deathless, they did as the Norse in
the Halls of Odin/Woden, where they fought each other to the death for
training and fun, then were resurrected at the end of the exercise.
VardaValar1: That was never mentioned anywhere in Tolkien that I know of, pure speculation.
ArPharazonV: Might as well put a revolving door in Mandos.
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Oh, that set of revolving doors over there? From Valinor to Valinor.
ArPharazonV: :-)
VardaValar1: Not like coming in from Middle-earth, reflecting on one's life for an Age or two til it's all figured out.
VardaValar1: Maybe a short stint. Next time, dodge lower!
VardaValar1: But that would not be a PC thing to discuss these days, most likely.
VardaValar1: I'm...not very PC except with a Personal Computer.
VardaValar1: Taking Glindoanor into Middle-earth now, another of the Avatars of Varda. :-)
ArPharazonV: Sometimes I wonder if Politically Correct is an oxymoron ;-)
VardaValar1: Well said!!
VardaValar1: and Fainan to the Yule Festival!
ArPharazonV: Have fun!
VardaValar1: Thanks :-)
VardaValar1: Not even 8pm here, going to party a bit
ArPharazonV: Still one victory away from a daily.. or 3 summoned minions. Shouldn't take too long.
VardaValar1: Soooon
ArPharazonV: Hah, got both in one match. 2 dailies done, and enough gold for another pack from the expansion!
VardaValar1: Woot!
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
