AriehnV: congratulations to that :-D , yes that is good news indeed
ArPharazonV: Turns out it was just the housing, so they replaced that, and it's good to go again.
AriehnV: glad to see it was something quite harmless
top

ArPharazonV: Well, yes. He's sent The Mail.

AriehnV: articles , art , games , stories , humor items and the like are wanted and welcome for it :-)
AriehnV: just write in Dedication its intended for the anniversary
AriehnV: and for the chat marathon think of games we can offer to those who come in during the time
AriehnV: or topics to discuss :-) Tolkien related of course
AriehnV: stories go to Varda for editing and articles and art to Eonwe to add to the website i think [Note: articles and art go to Varda for editing and adding to the website.]
AriehnV: dont forget to add on sources when you refer to lore topics or story elements you take frome one of tolkien's works
AriehnV: I should kick myself there .. i am not very good at that, still need to deliver those for Honor Redeemed ^^
AriehnV: and yes the Mass Gaming information update .. thanks for the Reminder Ar Pharazon and Gilraen
AriehnV: we need to send updated gaming information to Eonwe soon :-)
top

AriehnV: ok . with that .. lets move to gaming
ArPharazonV: Or talk to him in meetings, but.. yeah...
ArPharazonV: 's not here right now.
AriehnV: unfortunately :-(#
AriehnV: now is there any other games besides LotrO and WoW that were frequented last week?
AriehnV: pardon me .. are there any other games :-)
ArPharazonV: Eh, a few flashgames, but nothing special.
AriehnV: a bit STO on my side .. and quite a bit GW 2
AriehnV: trying out various classes and races in their different starting zones
ArPharazonV: Liking it so far?
AriehnV: and figuring out controls and mechanics and stuff
ArPharazonV: As Eonwe might say, you could make a review of it and send it in ;-)
AriehnV: aye quite like it :-) a few members from my wow guild have a guild running on Underworld
AriehnV: and so i joined them there
AriehnV: of course they are tons ahead of me already but thankfully its not that important in GW
AriehnV: aye i could do that Phara :-) will work on that maybe
AriehnV: I will put my characters and server in gaming info to Eonwe so all can see it and find me :-)
AriehnV: but of course i ll stay in wow and lotro as well even though they suffer a bit at the moment
AriehnV: I still have the hunter to max before Pandaria comes out ;-) but with just a bit less than a level to go i should make it
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
AriehnV: aiya Eonwe :-)
turinofVG: Aiy
turinofVG: a
Eonwe Valar: Sorry I'm late. What did I miss?
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
AriehnV: i have taken the liberty to steal the gavel
ArPharazonV: We're in gaming.
AriehnV: non wow- non lotro gaming
AriehnV: Phara mentioned he played some flashgames and myself a tiny bit STO and quite a bit trying out and testing in GW 2
AriehnV: Phara suggested i could write a review and send it to you :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
AriehnV: Did i forget anything Phara?
AriehnV: I rhink that was it so far
ArPharazonV: Hmm, yes.
ArPharazonV: and you talked a bit about your plans for WoW.
AriehnV: yes i also mentioned that i still will stick with WOW and Lotro despite GW 2 although these two are a bit in neglected state
Eonwe Valar: Feel free to continue where you left off in the meeting ;}
WoW:
AriehnV: aye still rping on AD and a bit levelling and finishing some character before MoP starts
AriehnV: that is mainly my hunter which is in the High Guard and a shaman maybe who is still at 75 but maybe .. maybe she can make it
AriehnV: the hunter is at 84 atm
AriehnV: so thats me anyway :-)
AriehnV: Eonwe i think you have to mention something for LotrO
ArPharazonV: Still grinding my Steamwheedle reputation myself. Got em all to honored now, hoping to get exalted before Mists so I can get the 60 exalted achievement. So that's where most of my playtime is going, when not raiding ;-)
AriehnV: nice :-)
AriehnV: Eonwe did you manage to get a run going last Sunday in Wow or on Friday?
Eonwe Valar: There were no runs Sunday or Friday, no, but we did reach Guild level 18 Friday night.
AriehnV: congrats on that :-D
AriehnV: whats that guild mail now?
ArPharazonV: No, that's lvl 17, which we got this week :-)
Eonwe Valar: 10% extra Justice Points.
ArPharazonV: Right.
AriehnV: sweet :-)
Eonwe Valar: Just in time for MoP, hehe :}

AriehnV: there is also some LotrO news
AriehnV: Gaming / LotRO:The LotRO gamers won Most Passionate Fan Base at the inaugural Dragon Slayer awards, hosted by Guild Launch at Dragon*Con.. Check out the award.
AriehnV: Eonwe do you know more about this\?
Eonwe Valar: Afraid not.
Eonwe Valar: Turbine told everyone to vote, and apparently everyone did, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Well, most everyone.
AriehnV: :-)
AriehnV: i am not sure how these votes work .. and i didnt see a mail or anything [Note: launcher news showed the voting, also the LotRO forum]
AriehnV: looks a nice award indeed
AriehnV: and very fitting for our dragon themed anniversary :-)
Eonwe Valar: hehe
AriehnV: now do we have any Tolkien Topics or moments to share :-)?
Eonwe Valar: Since we're at the end of business, I'll remind everyone that since the GSMU mails have now been out, those of you who showed up here can IM me your gaming info now.
AriehnV: I think i ll puzzle mine together another time and send you the balled bundle in a mail ^^ might be easier
Eonwe Valar: OK :}
ArPharazonV: I'll contact you in IM then!

AriehnV: right i ve got a Tolkien moment then .. this time from "The Hobbit"
AriehnV: it is an extract from Bilbo's conversation with Smaug .. i wonder why

AriehnV: "Well, thief! I smell you and I feel your air. I hear your breath. Come along! Help yourself again, there is plenty and to spare!"
AriehnV: But Bilbo was not quite so unlearnt in dragon-lore as all that, and if Smaug hoped to get him to come nearer so easily he was disappointed. "No thank you, O Smaug the Tremendous!" he replied "I did not come for presents. I only wished to have a look at you and see if you were truly as great as tales say. I did not believe them."
AriehnV: "Do you now?" said the dragon , somewhat flattered , even though he did not believe a word of it .
AriehnV: "Truly songs and tales fall utterly short of the reality, O Smaug the chiefest Greatest of Calamities," replied Bilbo.
AriehnV: "You have nice manners for a thief and a liar," said the dragon. "You seem familar with my name, but I dont seem to remember of smelling you before. Who are you and where do you come from, may I ask?"
AriehnV: "You may indeed! I come from under the hill, and under the hills and over the hills my paths led. And through the air. I am he that walks unseen."
AriehnV: "So I can well believe," said Smaug, "but that is hardly your usual name"
AriehnV: "I am the clue-finder, the web-cutter, the stinging fly. I was chosen for the lucky number."
AriehnV: "Lovely titles!" sneered the dragon . "But lucky numbers don't always come off."
AriehnV: "I am he that buries his friends alive and drowns them and draws them alive again from the water. I came from the end of a bag but no bag went over me."
AriehnV: "That doesn's sound creditable " scoffed the dragon
Iryenth has left the room.
Iryenth has entered the room.
AriehnV: "I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles, I am Ring-winner and Luckwearer, and I am Barrel-Rider" went on Bilbo beginning to be pleased with his riddling.
AriehnV: "That's better" said Smaug. "But don't let your imagination run away with you"
AriehnV: End of Quote :0

ArPharazonV: Ah, yes. In order to hide his own identity, he gives away nearly everything he possibly could about his companions and his journey.
AriehnV: any comments or thoughts to add or time to bang the Gavel?
Eonwe Valar: Nice quote :} I'm remembering that scene in the Rankin-Bass cartoon as you're quoting, hehe.
AriehnV: I dont haven't seen that one even though I heard it mentioned quite often
Eonwe Valar: If you can find them, I think the Rankin-Bass Hobbit and Return of the King are worth having.
AriehnV: i ' ll have a look :-)
AriehnV: i think i have a kind of graphic version of the Return of the King film
Eonwe Valar: They're not perfect, of course, but they're fun to watch *and* to listen to.
ArPharazonV: I think I've seen an animated Lord of the Rings (without RotK) but otherwise I'm not sure I've seen any of those.
AriehnV: at least part of it
Eonwe Valar: You've probably seen the Ralph Bakshi Lord of the Rings then, Phar. The Rankin-Bass cartoons are better than that. No "Aruman!!" hehehe
AriehnV: i wish i could show you the graphic version that i have .. darn the distance :-(
Eonwe Valar: Try finding a clip on youtube?
ArPharazonV: Yes, Eonwe, I think that's the one.
AriehnV: i could try and make a picture with my digital camera or have Bruce do that .. he has the better camera
ArPharazonV: Saruman with a red robe, Boromir without trousers and... I'm not even sure what those Orcs were.
Eonwe Valar: Yeah.
Glorfindel VG: Boromir the viking
AriehnV: from the front cover at least :-) how does that sound?
ArPharazonV: Haha, yes. Viking.
Eonwe Valar: You could try that :}
AriehnV: oki do i ll have Bruce on it hehe
AriehnV: and send you the pictures before the next meeting
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Eonwe Valar: OK, Here's a treat...
turinofVG: Ah the Bakshi one. I think that movie brought the concept of rotoscoping all the way down
Eonwe Valar: Here is the scene Arien just quoted from, in the Rankin-Bass version :} http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uvPXTDKwWM
AriehnV: the links dont work for me
Eonwe Valar: hmm, really?
AriehnV: ok now
Eonwe Valar: OK, good.
Eonwe Valar: Wasn't sure I could give a better link, would've had to let you hunt for it by name :-\
ArPharazonV: That.. is one ugly dragon.
AriehnV: i had another firefox page open so it wouldnt do this
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: aiya
Eonwe Valar: Heya Indis :}
ArPharazonV: Aiya
AriehnV: aiya Indis :-)
Eonwe Valar: We're in Tolkien, Arien just quoted Bilbo's chat with Smaug in the Hobbit :}
Eonwe Valar: I gave everyone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uvPXTDKwWM to watch :}
karakedi25: have you discussed the RP?
Eonwe Valar: Tonight? No.
AriehnV: no we havent
AriehnV: varda is not here
AriehnV: she couldnt make it for the meeting and Eonwe came in a bit later
Eonwe Valar: Varda had some real life stuff to take care of.
Eonwe Valar: Here is another piece of fun, this time from RB's Return of the King: Eowyn vs the Lord of the Nazgul. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWjt6LGhHsI
AriehnV: Nice scene that very impressive
AriehnV: the hobbit one that is
Eonwe Valar: Aye, one of my favorites :}
turinofVG: Makes me most interesting in how it will come about for the Peter Jackson version
Eonwe Valar: Aye. Fortunately we shouldn't have to wait long :}
Eonwe Valar: I think the first movie is slated for this December?
turinofVG: Are they still decided on it being 3 movies?
Eonwe Valar: It's going to be 3 movies, aye.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, that scene with Eowyn and the Witch-King seems a bit more spectacular in PJ's version. Fight-wise, that is.
Eonwe Valar: One of the fun songs in Rankin Bass' RotK, hehe, and I'll quit linking scenes now at 3 :} : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdXQJS3Yv0Y
Eonwe Valar: RB at least tries to use Tolkien's dialogue in the Eowyn/WK scene, though there there's still shortcuts taken.
ArPharazonV: That's true.
AriehnV: bangs .. the whip l... err the gavel

After-meeting:
Eonwe Valar: hehe
Eonwe Valar: Thanks for chairign the meeting, Arien :}
Eonwe Valar: *chairing
AriehnV: hehe got to love this bit lol .. although its not very book like
AriehnV: or did Tolkien mention that?
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, I'm fairly sure it didn't happen in the books, but it is amusing, aye :}
AriehnV: it is brilliant idea tho
ArPharazonV: The song? I think I would've remembered it.
AriehnV: probably the filmmaker didnt find the book version "realistic " enough
AriehnV: and having them meet a band of men at a crossroad
AriehnV: .. why not
AriehnV: and then sam causing them quarrel .. hehe
Eonwe Valar: Aha, should've trusted my instincts. That scene happened, just not *exactly* like that, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: "The Land of Shadow" in RotK, near the end of the chapter.
Eonwe Valar: The Orc with the whip even says "WHere there's a whip there's a will." hehe
ArPharazonV: Heh.
Eonwe Valar: And it seems to have been other orcs (Uruks) not Men.
Iryenth has left the room.
Glorfindel VG: Quite a catchy tune for orcs
Eonwe Valar: Aye :}
ArPharazonV: Almost makes them likeable.
Glorfindel VG: here's a rather funny video i found syncing jackson/bakshi films
Glorfindel VG: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HHuikhiewQ
AriehnV: hehe in the book version several orc troops crash into another lol
AriehnV: i find that hillarious
Eonwe Valar: :}
ArPharazonV: Oh, that looks great. I'll have to check out the entire thing some time.
ArPharazonV: going through that video, my eye falls on the 3 elven rings
ArPharazonV: Galadriel is in the scene, obviously, but Elrond isn't. Did someone hold Elrond's ring before him? I don't remember.
AriehnV: and buffering .. buffering hehe
Eonwe Valar: I want to say Gil-Galad had it before him...
ArPharazonV: But you can't be sure?
Eonwe Valar: Double-checked. I was right.
turinofVG: Gil-Galad did
ArPharazonV: Allright, thanks.
Eonwe Valar: Oh Turin, it's probably safe to offer a hint for your trivia question now.
turinofVG: Heh, probably
Eonwe Valar: Anyone who was going to guess without help got their chance to prove their Tolkien knowedge,hehe :}
ArPharazonV: Hmm, now I want to see Bakshi's movie with the soundtrack of PJ's movies edited in.
ArPharazonV: Though that might be more difficult when it comes to music.
AriehnV: it should be possible to get copies sitll
AriehnV: you can actually try and find out at this Art Tolkien do in your neighbour hood :-)
ArPharazonV: Ah, right, that's coming up, isn't it?
AriehnV: should be soon aye
AriehnV: 20 to 22 nd Sep .. now what the heck is on that day ;-)
AriehnV: i hadnt noticed that date before but now i realize .. how clever
ArPharazonV: Hah, yes!
Eonwe Valar: :}
AriehnV: right then it was fun :-) really enjoyed it tonight
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well Arien :}
AriehnV: you too , rest well :-)
AriehnV: Namarie for now
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
AriehnV has left the room.
fladrifv has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Here's one appropos for the current spot in the RP, hehehe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5vu8vU9yCw
Eonwe Valar: Enjoy :}
ArPharazonV: Hah, the song of the Elves?
Eonwe Valar: Aye :}
