VardaValar1: Can't invite Indis to group chat, must be on a different connection, maybe phone.
ArPharazon-V: Same.
VardaValar1: Indis, we thought of you. : )
Iryenth (Iryenth) has entered the room.

VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: Eonwe has been working on the Games Site Mass Update. We all need to let him know which games we play. :-)
Ariehn V: i ve o
EonweValar: A little over a week left in the month, so send in your gaming info soon.
Ariehn V: got a list actually now
karakedi25: I'm fairly sure I have
ArPharazon-V: I always IM it at the meeting, that way I know it arrives intact :)
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Feel free to bombard the poor soul with IM's now. : )
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
top
VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: No new goodies on the web from us. Some quotes on the News is about it.

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Any non-WoW, non-LotRO gaming this past week?
ArPharazon-V: Some flashgames. For example, after finishing Decision 2, which I mentioned last week, I played Decision. The first one.
VardaValar1: Retro gaming. : )
ArPharazon-V: Quite like its sequel graphically and gameplay-y, but
without some of the features in 2. Which was both a good and a bad
thing to my taste.
ArPharazon-V: I'd say, if you liked 2, try 1 :)
VardaValar1: So it did improve for its sequel. Good.
ArPharazon-V: Yes. Though whether it's for the better, really depends on one's taste.
VardaValar1: heh
ArPharazon-V: http://www.kongregate.com/games/FlyAnvil/decision here's a link
VardaValar1: Thanks, Golden One. :-)
VardaValar1: WoW:
VardaValar1: Eonwe, did you have any WoW news?
EonweValar: Mists of Pandaria coming to us midnight Tuesday :}
EonweValar: I'll be at my local Gamestop late Monday night to get mine, hehe.
VardaValar1: Collector goodies for you?
EonweValar: Aye :}
VardaValar1: Fun : )
ArPharazon-V: Yeees. No confirmation that my CE will be ready, though
the online shop I got it from took the product from the site earlier
this week. So I assume it's sold out. I just hope that they didn't get
overflowed with orders and I'll miss out.
ArPharazon-V: But I phoned them 2 days ago and asked what it meant for
already placed orders, and they said that it indeed meant that it was
sold out, but that it orders placed should be fine. And that if it
wasn't, we'd be contacted about it as soon as possible. Since that
hasn't happened yet..
EonweValar: GLorfindel, Eowyn, and I tried the Theramore scenario as a
guild run, got Guild credit, so got the gold and the exp. Since we've
got 15 of them open, plenty of room for guildies to get together in
groups of 3 and run more before THeramore goes lvl 90.
ArPharazon-V: there's still hope?
VardaValar1: Phar, you're one of the ones making them sell out. Should be fine. : )
VardaValar1: Huzzah guild credit!
ArPharazon-V: *grin* gotta hope so!
EonweValar: *To clarify, 15 is the cap for scenarios giving guild exp and gold.
VardaValar1: So Theramore goes level 90 Wednesday?
EonweValar: Tuesday.
ArPharazon-V: Scenarios are good for guild credit, especially a guild
as small as my own. We got our first guild challenge with it simply
because it only takes 3 people *grin*
VardaValar1: Yay!
EonweValar: So, once we get a few people at 90 and can run all the
scenarios, don't be afraid to team up and run them, hehe. They don't
*require* tanks or healers, though without them you might want to be
slightly more careful than without them.
VardaValar1: Since I'm the healer, no worries here. ;-)
EonweValar: Only takes 3 for scenarios, but all three have to be guildies for guild credit.
EonweValar: That's it from me.
VardaValar1: Sounds like we're about to have to start leveling again.
VardaValar1: Thanks Eonwe
VardaValar1: Any other WoW news?
ArPharazon-V: Only that I've now done 38 scenarios and have yet to find the rare permanent fireworks. Rather tiring.
VardaValar1: Really are rare then.
EonweValar: I've got plenty of fireworks for the guild capital run now, hehe. Too bad they're all soulbound.
ArPharazon-V: Yep. And they won't drop at lvl 90 anymore.
ArPharazon-V: So got one more day.
VardaValar1: We can make some too, should be enough.
VardaValar1: Menelvagor is trying to enter the chat, but we just
realized he's not yet set up for group chat with his brand new AIM>
VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: LotRO had a busy week.
VardaValar1: It's Tolkien Week, plus we had Talk Like a Pirate Day which in-game translates to things to do for several days.
VardaValar1: We had the pirate quest at the Brandywine Bridge plus the Treasure Hunt (all still going, I believe).
ArPharazon-V: Really? We just got one day, and it consisted of a few
npcs on a roof that turn you into a pirate. Seems boring now.
VardaValar1: You can reach the Treasure Hunt by using the festival stable horse.
VardaValar1: We do games in the special instance and get various
rewards like the treasure horse and goat, house deco, and emotes, among
other things.
ArPharazon-V: Emote rewards? That's nice.
VardaValar1: They're fun. : )
VardaValar1: We also had our kin event Saturday
VardaValar1: Some of us got together at our kin-house, shot fireworks, and then visited the houses of those that had one.
VardaValar1: At my house, they got to pick up stacks of hope tokens and
fireworks if they wanted, and to splat paint on the walls and floor
with lots of different colors.
VardaValar1: That kin event was the celebration of the double birthday of Bilbo and Frodo.
VardaValar1: The LotRO beta round 5 ends tonight. Indis has reached
end-game and can tell you a bit about how it's set up now, with the
caveat that everything can still change before live. :-)
VardaValar1: Indis, would you like to tell them about it now?
VardaValar1: She may be away again. Maybe she'll be back later and can tell us then.
karakedi25: fighting
VardaValar1: Hard to report while gaming. Maybe later. : )
VardaValar1: Any other comments about LotRO?
VardaValar1: Tolkien:
karakedi25: OK, more or less safe now. May get interrupted
Ariehn V: btw new Adress on Lotro .. new house in shire homesteads
karakedi25: End-game comes after completing a massive number of quests
in all the regions of Eastemnet. You are then sent to help
rebuild the burned out town of Hytbold. It's tricky--you take
quests to build specific places, and then you earn the tokens you need
to rebuild them by doing 5 quests in the original regions daily.
Only 5 a day, so it will take a huge amount of time to complete.
karakedi25: You can earn max of 25 tokens a day, and the rebuild takes
5, 10, or 15 tokens to complete each quest. There are multiple quests
for each location.
VardaValar1: Orignial regions?
VardaValar1: Guess she's fighting again. : )
VardaValar1: Thank you, Indis. Good to know.
VardaValar1: The group instance stuff is being built separately from
the main questing expansion area, and will probably come out shortly
after or very near to the expansion's coming out.
karakedi25: Sorry, was attacked by a gang of mobs, and I had to run for my life.
menelvagorvalar has been invited.
Menelvagor Valar (Menelvagor Valar) has entered the room.
karakedi25: Yes, original regions--Wold, Norcrofts, Entwash Vale, and sutcrofts.
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Aiya Menel : )
Ariehn V: aiya :-D
karakedi25: If you complete all the quests for an area, you get a deed that gives you 25 tokens.
karakedi25: Complicated but looks like fun, though slow.
ArPharazon-V: Aiya Menel!
Menelvagor Valar: Downloading an older version seemed to do the trick :-D
ArPharazon-V: Older versions rule.
Menelvagor Valar: And just so you know, I am actually working at the
moment, so I hope you'll excuse me for being silent a bit :-D
VardaValar1: So we need to make a list of dailies in the earlier regions so we'll know what to do while rebuilding Hytbold.
VardaValar1: Ok, thank you Indis and Menel. : )
VardaValar1: Stay alive, Indis. : )
VardaValar1: Tolkien:
karakedi25: When you take your first daily quest, the list of quests
for each area's deed comes up. There's a great player post that
shows what's needed and is prereq. for what in the rebuilding
karakedi25: Quests are randomly generated each day in the regions.
karakedi25: That's all I have for now, unless there are more questions.\
VardaValar1: One question
VardaValar1: Have you tried all three warhorse types? Light, medium, and heavy?
VardaValar1: I've only made it through light and medium, and looks as if running out of time to try heavy.
karakedi25: I'm mostly using light. I tried medium in the last round,
and it's good, but I really like the agility and speed of the light
horse.
VardaValar1: Agreed. The light horse is much easier to control. Medium
is a bit less, but has more survivability if you have a class that
sometimes gets hit.
VardaValar1: Light is faster too, aye.
VardaValar1: Heavy is slower, but can also run right over the bad guys. Good for characters with plate armor especially.
karakedi25: I'm on a LM, and she seems to have the ability to take the damage she sometimes gets.
karakedi25: I believe that's the intention.
VardaValar1: Don't know if running over them does trample damage.
VardaValar1: Hunter seems fine on light or medium.
karakedi25: We'll have to try the heavy next round.
VardaValar1: Aye
karakedi25: I believe there's no wipe for the next round.
VardaValar1: Hunter behavior seems intended to circle the bad guys, done better with the light, for me.
karakedi25: LMs burn them either ranged or in melee :-)
VardaValar1: That means the character classes are in better shape this time. Guardians should be fine now.
VardaValar1: Any further questions?
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has left the room.
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.
VardaValar1: and be sure to save, since Phar fell out.
VardaValar1: and be sure to save, since Phar fell out.
ArPharazon-V: VardaValar1: Hunter seems fine on light or medium.
ArPharazon-V: what since then?
karakedi25: ?
ArPharazon-V: I lost internet. That was the last line I read.
VardaValar1: karakedi25: We'll have to try the heavy next round.
ArPharazon-V: VardaValar1: Hunter seems fine on light or medium
ArPharazon-V: There we go :)
VardaValar1: All caught up now. : )
ArPharazon-V: thanks!
VardaValar1: All those spaces are what I have to clear on my own transcripts. Phar saves us from that editing. : )
VardaValar1: Just in time for:
top
VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: Frodo and Bilbo's birthday party
looked like just a very large party given by an eccentric, rich hobbit.
But what was going on under the surface, in which the Valar were
involved?
Menelvagor Valar: Tough one, but one might say that part of the idea
that Bilbo would give, and eventually did, the Ring to Frodo, might
have been influenced by Gandalf, a direct representative from the Valar.
EonweValar: I'd say that was a pretty strong possibility Gandalf influenced Bilbo'd decision to pass on the Ring :}
EonweValar: *BIlbo's
VardaValar1: Showed him the writing and translated it.
VardaValar1: ooops, showed Frodo
karakedi25: He more than influenced him. When he was reluctant to give it up, G intimidated him into doing so.
Ariehn V: think he pushed him over treshold of fear and addiction
Menelvagor Valar: Aye, I wouldn't call it intimidation, even though it would very much like it.
Ariehn V: well i dont know he did actually it was more like threat ..
VardaValar1: Bilbo started to draw his sword on Gandalf, who then
seemed to grow tall and menacing with his shadow filling the room.
karakedi25: what would you call it?
Ariehn V: "be careful what you do ro say or i show you Gandalf the Grey uncloaked" or something to that effect
Ariehn V: while doing that aye
ArPharazon-V: Certainly sounds like a threat.
Menelvagor Valar: Well, I guess it is intimidation then :-D
VardaValar1: "Come! Do as you promised: give it up!"
VardaValar1: There was no threat until Bilbo threatened first, though.
EonweValar: "Bilbo flushed, and there was an agry light in his eyes.
His kindly face grew hard. 'Why not?' he cried. 'And what business is
it yours, anyway, to know what I do with my own things? It is my own. I
found it. It came to me.'
EonweValar: 'Yes, yes,' said Gandalf. ' But there is no need to get angry.'
EonweValar: 'If I am it is your fault,' said Bilbo. 'It is mine, I tell you. My own. My precious. Yes, my precious.'
EonweValar: The wizard's face remained grave and attentive, and only a
flicker in his deep eyes showed that he was startled and indeed
alarmed. 'It has been called that before,' he said, ' but not by you.'
Menelvagor Valar: However the initimidation was provoked though, it
remains intimidation. Though it is unsure if Gandalf would actually
have carried out any threat Bilbo would have perceived.
EonweValar: 'But I say it now. And why not? Even if Gollum said
the same once. It's not his now, but mine. And I shall keep it, I say.'
Menelvagor Valar: Gandalf would not have wanted to gain possession of
the Ring by such an act, even if for a few seconds to hand it over to
Frodo.
Menelvagor Valar: And sorry for interrupting your quoting Eonwe
EonweValar: Gandalf stood up. He spoke sternly. "You will be a
fool if you do, Bilbo,' he said. 'You make that clearer with
every word you say. It has got far too much hold on you. Let it go! And
then you can go yourself, and be free.'
EonweValar: 'I'll do as I choose and go as I please,' said Bilbo obstinately.
EonweValar: 'Now, now, my dear hobbit!,' said Gandalf, 'all your long
life we have been friends, and you owe me something. Come! Do as you
promised: give it up!'
EonweValar: 'Well, if you want my ring yourself, say so!' cried Bilbo.
'But you won't get it. I won't give my precious away, I tell you.' His
hand strayed to the hilt of his small sword.
EonweValar: Gandalf's eyes flashed. 'It will be my turn to get angry
soon,' he said. 'If you say that again, I shall. Then you will see
Gandalf the Grey uncloaked.' He took a step toward the hobbit, and he
seemed to grow tall and menacing; his shadow filled the little room.
EonweValar: Bilbo backed away to the wall, breathing hard, his hand
clutching at his pocket. They stood for a while facing one another, and
the air of the room tingled. Gandalf's eyes remained bent on the
hobbit. Slowly his hands relaxed, and he began to tremble.
EonweValar: 'I don't know what has come over you, Gandalf,' he said.
'You have never been like this before. What is it all about? It is mine
isn't it? I found it, and Gollum would have killed me, if I hadn't kept
it. I'm not a thief, whatever he said.'
EonweValar: 'I have never called you one,' Gandalf answered. 'And I am
not one either. I am not trying to rob you, but to help you. I wish you
would trust me, as you used.' He turned away, and the shadow passed. He
seemed to dwindle again to an old grey man, bent and troubled.
EonweValar: Bilbo drew his hand over his eyes. 'I am sorry,' he said.
'But I felt so queer. And yet it wouldbe a relief in a way not to be
bothered with it any more. It has been growing on my mind lately.
Sometimes I have felt it was like an eye looking at me. And I am always
wanting to put it on and disappear, don't you know; or wondering if it
is safe, and pulling it out to make sure. I tried locking it up, but I
found I couldn't rest wihout it in my pocket. I don't know why. And I
don't seem able to make up my mind.'
Glorfindel VG has entered the room.
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has left the room.
EonweValar: 'Then trust mine,' said Gandalf. 'It is quite made up. Go
away and leave it behind. Stop possessing it. Give it to Frodo, and I
will look after him.'"....
EonweValar: That's enough of the scene.
VardaValar1: Thank you Eonwe :-)
VardaValar1: Aiya Glorfindel :-)
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.
Glorfindel VG: Aiya :-)
ArPharazon-V: And there we go again.
ArPharazon-V: Last thing I saw:
ArPharazon-V: Eonwe Valar: 'I don't know what has come over you,
Gandalf,' he said. 'You have never been like this before. What is it
all about? It is mine isn't it? I found it, and Gollum would have
killed me, if I hadn't kept it. I'm not a thief, whatever he said.'
EonweValar: In short: BIlbo didn't want to give up the Ring, verbally
attacked Gandalf, then threatened to physically attack Gandalf.
Gandalf's response is not unwarranted.
karakedi25: Not unwarranted at all. But he did need to resort to intimidation
VardaValar1: That wasn't actually intimidation making Bilbo hand over
the Ring. And Gandalf was reacting to the statement that he was trying
to take it more than to the sword.
VardaValar1: 'Well, if you want my ring yourself, say so!' cried Bilbo.
'But you won't get it. I won't give my precious away, I tell you.' His
hand strayed to the hilt of his small sword.
EonweValar: Gandalf's eyes flashed. 'It will be my turn to get angry soon,' he said. 'If you say that again, I shall.
VardaValar1: I was remembering it as intimidation too, but it's not.
EonweValar: The situation was escalating, but Gandalf did not become
the agressor at any point, merely stood ready to defend himself.
ArPharazon-V: Allright, you'll have to rely on Eonwe's transcript then.
EonweValar: The movie made it look more like intimidation.
VardaValar1: Gandalf was reacting to an attack only.
ArPharazon-V: Got the missing lines from him.
karakedi25: And a certain desperation to get B to give up the ring.
karakedi25: And fear of what it was doing to him.
ArPharazon-V: And Aiya Glorfindel :)
EonweValar: The desparation of a friend trying to free a friend from an addiction, perhaps.
Menelvagor Valar: Which in times needs intimidation as well :-)
Menelvagor Valar: But it was not a threat.
VardaValar1: Yet he did not use intimidation to get the ring at all.
Menelvagor Valar: He didn't want the Ring regardless.
VardaValar1: He goes back to being a friend and reminding what Bilbo wanted to do in the first place.
Menelvagor Valar: He could've gotten the Ring at any time if he so chose.
EonweValar: If Gandalf wanted the Ring, yes. And it would've likely broken Bilbo. Neither was what Gandalf wanted though.
karakedi25: Yes, he wanted B to give it up to Frodo, not himself.
ArPharazon-V: It may have been a threat, then, of sorts. But not related to the Ring; merely to Bilbo's accusation.
EonweValar: In the end, choosing to give it up was the best medicine.
Menelvagor Valar: Although I have no doubt that if it would have come to it, Gandalf would have forced Bilbo to give it up.
Menelvagor Valar: Tough as Hobbits are, they simply cannot stand the
Power of the Ring indefinitely, and succumbing to it, would mean
victory for Sauron.
EonweValar: Bilbo did promise to give it to Frodo.... an oath if you will....
VardaValar1: If Bilbo were forced, then Frodo would not have gotten it in a completely free wil way, loosening his title to it.
ArPharazon-V: It could have broken Bilbo, to a degree.
Menelvagor Valar: Gandalf simply could not let that happen, regardless of the consequenses, tragic as they might be.
VardaValar1: Remember how such a thing harmed Finrod in the song fight with Sauron.
Menelvagor Valar: Aye.
VardaValar1: Something else too.
EonweValar: Bilbo was going to end up in Rivendell anyway, hehe.
VardaValar1: Gandalf much later comes to a realization. He says that
Bilbo was meant to have the Ring, a comforting thought. Yet at this
time, Gandalf does not know that. Other hands were at work behind the
scene.
EonweValar: The prolbme is Frodo needed some early lessons about the Ring before he took it into real dangerous parts.
EonweValar: *problem
VardaValar1: The Ringwraiths came to Frodo early in his journey, providing harsh lessons early on.
EonweValar: I'm not so sure Gandalf would've used force on BIlbo to get
him to give up the Ring ultimately, though it may have been a sore
temptation.
EonweValar: First, Gandalf didn't have proof this ring was the One.
VardaValar1: Aye, and Gandalf was the only Istar that seemed able to handle such a problem.
EonweValar: Second, if he had, how much further would have been to force Bilbo to give up the Ring for Gandalf?
EonweValar: I think Gandalf realized he was walking a tightrope over a fire on that one.
VardaValar1: He had to give the Ring to Frodo, in any case, in some manner, to legitimize Frodo's ownership.
VardaValar1: Aye on that tightrope!
Menelvagor Valar: straddling a sword's edge would be more precise I reckon ^^
ArPharazon-V: Considering Gollum's ownership was never legitimized that way, how can it be for subsequent owners? ;)
VardaValar1: It can be in this case, that Frodo does nothing evil to gain the Ring.
Menelvagor Valar: Actually, Smeagol's ownership was customary by his
people.... even though he voided any rights he had when he murdered
Deagol.
EonweValar: Isildur took it as a weregild, maybe a grey area. Deagol found it, so not a bad way to get it.
VardaValar1: Entertainingly, Frodo is taking the Ring back to where the real owner is and to the place it's made.
EonweValar: Aye.
VardaValar1: Frodo and Sam are the only ones who take the Ring up in a
manner not meant to empower themselves, an act the Ring and Sauron
cannot understand.
VardaValar1: Sam's temporary ownership does not harm Frodo's legitimate
right to it (as an heir), since he takes it up to fulfill the mission
and then returns it to Frodo voluntarily in the belief that he is the
one who should rightfully have it.
VardaValar1: This gives Frodo extra power over the Ring that others would not have.
VardaValar1: Ok, about the Valar being behind the scene as well as Gandalf as their hand...
VardaValar1: Gandalf much later comes to a realization. He says that
Bilbo was meant to have the Ring, a comforting thought. Yet at this
time, Gandalf does not know that. Other hands were at work behind the
scene.
VardaValar1: Not many choices for who those hands belong to, and they weren't Gandalf's.
VardaValar1: It's like Elrond commented, that the people coming to
Elrond's meeting were coming to a meeting at his house, yet he had not
been the one choosing or calling them.
EonweValar: To be clear: We're talking about the Valar being involved at the party specifically?
VardaValar1: I am. : )
ArPharazon-V: Do you think Bilbo and Frodo's shared birthday was coincidental?
EonweValar: OK.
VardaValar1: Gandalf had not been to a party in the Shire as a
fireworks provider in memory of all but the oldest hobbits. Yet that
year he was.
EonweValar: Well Bilbo, if he thought about it, might thank Eru Frodo didn't walk in to see him "Gollum out" at Gandalf, hehe.
VardaValar1: That may have been purely because Bilbo was making it
special, planning to leave the Shire, and had told Gandalf that and
that he was leaving all including the ring to Frodo.
VardaValar1: That would have been an eye-opener and no mistake, Eonwe, aye. : )
ArPharazon-V: Yes, I assumed that Gandalf came because it was planned by Bilbo.
VardaValar1: Agreed, Phar.
VardaValar1: And Gandalf was right there when Bilbo started to renege on leaving the Ring.
karakedi25: It wouold have been a crucial moment in the plans
VardaValar1: Good ol' coincidence.
VardaValar1: Get enough coincidences and one has to wonder.
VardaValar1: Well, maybe it was just luck. : )
VardaValar1: Shall we adjourn for the night?
EonweValar: What was it the Merovingian said... "Where you see coincidence, I see consequence?" :}
ArPharazon-V: Oh, I'll add something to Tolkien that's unrelated to our topic.
VardaValar1: Eonwe, I agree with Merovingian, especially when a book is pretending to have coincidence.
VardaValar1: Fire away, this topic is pretty well completed.
ArPharazon-V: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151245828066807 hobbit trailer!
VardaValar1: Woot!
VardaValar1: Thank you. :-)
EonweValar: "Surely you don't disbelieve the prophecies because you had a hand in bringing them about?" :}
Ariehn V: you mean Merovingan as the knioght dynasty who was in power in germany for a while?
EonweValar: I mean the Merovingian from Matrix Reloaded :}
Ariehn V: ah right hehe
EonweValar: And then af course there's Agent Smith's spiel on "Purpose" :}
karakedi25: t035@3
EonweValar: I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that saying, Indis... :}
karakedi25: I can't type worth a darn
VardaValar1: o man what a trailer. *runs to get in line for the movie*
karakedi25: and the cat types worse....especially when walking across my keyoard
ArPharazon-V: If my cat could type, what would he say...
karakedi25: bad cat....
VardaValar1: *wonders how long this line will be by December.*
Ariehn V: meeeoww
VardaValar1: *raises gavel*
VardaValar1: *swings, and brings it down just to one side of the cats*
VardaValar1: *whompola!*
ArPharazon-V: Watch out for those tails.
EonweValar: BtW, I am considering my next post for the RP, just so you
know there is someone formulating something out there about the RP
besides yourselves :}
top
VardaValar1: After-meeting!
Ariehn V: wwweoh - jumps back
VardaValar1: Menel, hope you're ready to post. Maybe you can mention being at our table. :-)
karakedi25: dw
karakedi25: I need to know if I should change my Meren post so it's at breakfast
EonweValar: Arien, if you don't mind, I was considering having your elf
doctor make a cameo in my post. It won't be a speaking part, just
something to tie events together. That way the speaking part, where
required, can be left for the "meeting."
ArPharazon-V: I think Arien was keen to see him reappear!
VardaValar1: The fun of popular npc's. :-)
VardaValar1: Just showed the trailer to Elwing. We're now both standing in line, tent set up.
ArPharazon-V: Hah.
EonweValar: With a laptop apparently :}
ArPharazon-V: How many before you?
VardaValar1: But of course.
VardaValar1: *peers into the distance* We're a tad late, can't see that far.
EonweValar: If you were going to line up you should've been there before the movie was even announced! :}
VardaValar1: Is that Phar up there ahead about two blocks?
ArPharazon-V: *waves back*
VardaValar1: *wave*
ArPharazon-V: Yeah, I've been here for a month now, or is it two... hard to keep track of time
VardaValar1: Arien passed a lot of times, aye.
EonweValar: Hey Arien, no cutting in line! :}
VardaValar1: Say, is that sun going a bit off-kilter, as if the steersperson is missing?
Ariehn V: what did i pass w
Ariehn V: what dids i pass where?
EonweValar: You're cutting in front of everyone in line to see the Hobbit :}
Ariehn V: hehe aye i ve watched the trailer and love it lol
VardaValar1: Hard to carry a whole sun in with you though.
ArPharazon-V: Makes it a bit hard to see the movie that way.
Ariehn V: might be problematic
Ariehn V: wonder what Arien would do at the end of that cutscene where trailer stops ^^
VardaValar1: If the light from a cell phone is a problem...
ArPharazon-V: Imagine what a sun would do?
VardaValar1: Screen? What screen?
Menelvagor Valar: Seems I missed a bit. Might as well come racing towards the front of the line :-)
VardaValar1: *trip*
Menelvagor Valar: *rolls over, does a handstand and a forward flip, followed by a facedive*
VardaValar1: Monk!
VardaValar1: Probably some panda. Perhaps someone's pet. We can ignore it. ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: Or you may not exactly differentiate between what's
front and back and top and bottom and whatever else there is on a globe
of burning gas of my size.
Menelvagor Valar: And what's further, you may have missed the other 2 or more of me that's coming by :-)
Menelvagor Valar: but that rather depends on whether I'm the belt, the star, or the constellation :-D
Menelvagor Valar: and whether any spacial debris is included in my "being" :-)
ArPharazon-V: If your "being" includes the entire patch of sky that we
find the constellation in, you'll consist of a great many stars and
planets and other objects, indeed.
Menelvagor Valar: That is essentially what I am wondering about myself.
Menelvagor Valar: Though I suppose anyone could cut the line easily while a constellation is having some existential issues :-)
VardaValar1: We'll just put a marker here for your spot, np. ^^
Menelvagor Valar: I am not entirely sure, I, or we, will fit the spot.
Menelvagor Valar: Unless you can make a marker spot that's at least the size of your solar system?
EonweValar: Tell everyone the line starts 3 spots after Pluto? :}
Menelvagor Valar: That might be a good idea though.
Menelvagor Valar: But considering I am coming from a long time ago, I
might not exactly get that transmission in time, and I might overshoot
my landing zone by a stellar system or two.... or three'ish :-D
EonweValar: :}
Ariehn V: stellar system or solar
Menelvagor Valar: stellar system.
Menelvagor Valar: Solar system only pertains to our own stellar system, Sol.
EonweValar: Technically, the Sun is Sol, so no other system can claim to be the "Solar" system :}
EonweValar: What Menel said, hehe.
Ariehn V: ah right
VardaValar1: Actually I just put a rock in the line on the ground as a
marker and push it forward with my foot. Got your name on it.
EonweValar: We shouldn't be looking to harness Solar power. We should
be looking to harness stellar power. Otherwise all our Solar technology
is going to cease to work if we need it to work under a different
star.... hehe :}
ArPharazon-V: If we have plans for going to another star, I think solar power is the least of our problems.
VardaValar1: Plants harness solar power pretty well. Maybe we can investigate plants on other planets, even microbial-sized?
VardaValar1: I'm still waiting to send up pre-fab buildings to the
moon. Do it from existing materials, like the Mars One project wants to
do for Mars.
Menelvagor Valar: I reckon that when we talk about solar power, it's
pretty much the same as stellar power, but for the slight difference it
isn't from Sol :-D
EonweValar: I was kidding of course, playing with the technical definition :}
Menelvagor Valar: I'm still waiting for the majority of politicians to
become less than blithering morons. If only pigs could fly.
Ariehn V: all right .. i ll contemplate this in my dreams .... "rides away in her solar driven wagon"
EonweValar: Sleep well Arien :}
VardaValar1: Well, a yellow dwarf, red dwarf, or red giant might have
some slight differences, if only amount hitting the panels as we move.
VardaValar1: Namarie, Sunshine :-)
Ariehn V: Namarie :-)
Ariehn V (AriehnV) has left the room.
EonweValar: All I know is that they're got a little over 2 years to
figure out hoverboards and 3D billboards that project sharks, lol.
Menelvagor Valar: Namarie Arien :-D
VardaValar1: We already had hoverboards, but after some riders got hurt they were taken off the market. bleah
EonweValar: They've already taken too long to make any game that uses one's hands to be a "baby's toy."
Menelvagor Valar: hahahah :-)
Menelvagor Valar: btw...!
Menelvagor Valar: Did you guys know that the ancient but addictive game of XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be released in its remade form october 9th US and october 12th Europe?
EonweValar: I don't believe that I did, no.
karakedi25: namarie
karakedi25 has left the room.
EonweValar: Sleep well Indis :}
EonweValar: Belatedly, hehe.
VardaValar1: Nighty night, Indis
ArPharazon-V: I'd not heard of it, what is it?
ArPharazon-V: And belated Namarie, Indis :)
VardaValar1: I have enough trouble keeping up with LotRO, WoW, D3...
Menelvagor Valar: www.xcom.com
VardaValar1: Thanks for the url, Menel :-)
Menelvagor Valar: There are a number of previews available on youtube if you care enough to check them out :-)
ArPharazon-V: ah, an RTS, then?
Menelvagor Valar: Be careful you don't land on the XCOM shooter game, although that preview is pretty nice to watch as well.
Menelvagor Valar: Not entirely.
Menelvagor Valar: It's more of a turn-based strategy.
Menelvagor Valar: Though the old game (and not sure in what way the new one) has some RTS elements to it.
Menelvagor Valar: But the combat system, which makes up the greater majority of the game, is TBS.
ArPharazon-V: Aha.
Menelvagor Valar: Base Management is the RTS part (or was at least) and
is much less important than the TBS part, aside from choosing where to
put your squad(s) and what (not) to strike / investigate
VardaValar1: LotRO beta: guild-friend Aleyne tried all the warhorses
and says: here is what I have discovered: light for ranged, medium for
caster, heavy rocks for melee
[Note: After the meeting, Varda tried the heavy warhorse for the guardian and found it surprisingly easy to handle.]
VardaValar1: Namarie gang :-)
ArPharazon-V: namarie
VardaValar1 has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: Namarie... again too late :-(
ArPharazonV: It'll be in the transcript.
Menelvagor Valar has left the room.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
