Before-meeting:
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: A bit early but howdy :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
LizMarr has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya to Ioreth too :-)
ArPharazonV: yeah, thought I'd get in, since I'm still in WoW and waiting for the Wanderer's Festival that starts in 10 minutes.
LizMarr: sounds fun
VardaValar1: oh the timing, heh
ArPharazonV: Every sunday at 9 and 11, and since I'm raiding during the
first and have meeting here at the second, it's kinda tricky.
VardaValar1: Understood.. Amazing how well you do.
LizMarr: I vague remember timed events - the fishing one at booty bay was way too much fun. a friend had all the cosmetic gear
ArPharazonV: Oh, yes, I've got that stuff too. Though I never won the Kalu'ak contest.
LizMarr: pvp adds a whole new demension to those things
ArPharazonV: Good thing I'm not on a pvp server then.
VardaValar1: Not too keen on pvp servers, but nice that it's available on normal servers for when it's wanted.
VardaValar1: Lots of folks love pvp though. : )
LizMarr: last I could afford to play I moved my favorite hunter from
horde to ally and a new server. I'm sorry I did, I hate the look of
night elves
ArPharazonV: Hah. Better than bloodelves, in my opinion.
LizMarr: I love eqii pvp, wow pvp stinks. I love the old styel (10 year) battlegrounds. not the cross-server ones
LizMarr: and I love my tauren!!!!
VardaValar1: Like my tauren shaman too. :-)
LizMarr: I probabbly mentioned. I had a friend with a tauren shaman,
I'll remember the name in the momment, who was the highest rank with
the old style battlegrounds
ArPharazonV: I had a tauren shaman. Made him in 2005.
ArPharazonV: I think he's still lvl 8 or so.
LizMarr: when he got that distintion he walked through ironforge and
nobody bothered him and a bunch follewed giving congrats through their
pets
LizMarr: bestcowevar
ArPharazonV: Huh. I guess players were more honorable in those days.
You could be the king of all horde now and still get ganked in
Stormwind.
LizMarr: there were quite a few bg players and I guess threats worked when it came to fellow players
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
LizMarr: I wonder if I tried to do FTP if I could access my over 20 toons?
fladrifv has entered the room.
fladrifv: Aiya
LizMarr: hello hello
ArPharazonV: Aiya
ArPharazonV: Bah, right at the start of the festival my game locks up.
LizMarr: brb, looking for juice in the fridge
VardaValar1: back
Eonwe Valar: Welcome back.
VardaValar1: Aiya Eonwe and Fladrif :-)
VardaValar1: Thank you
LizMarr: back, hubby making fresh coffee - yup
VardaValar1: Yay for husbands :-)
LizMarr: that was supposed to be "yum"
LizMarr: my hubby is what they call an enabler
VardaValar1: heh
fladrifv: enabler?
fladrifv: (a huge questionmark arises from the forrest)
LizMarr: when you have a person with some type of destructive behavior
or is childish, and enabler does things to promote or feed the behavior
LizMarr: if you are obese and like chocolate, they keep bringing chocolate
VardaValar1: It also is true for non-destructive behavior, but lately
is mostly being used with destructive. Our world is becoming more
negative, unfortunately.
fladrifv: I always think positive :-)
fladrifv: thank you for the explanation liz
ArPharazonV: Trees only grow upwards, eh?
fladrifv: sky high king of numenor
VardaValar1: but have a good understanding too. ;-)
AriehnV has entered the room.
LizMarr: unless you do bonsai
AriehnV: aiya :-)
VardaValar1: Aiya Sunshine : )
fladrifv: that is enforced by humans...in every bonzay a big red is hidden
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: I'd hate to attempt bonsai on an ent!
Eonwe Valar: They put a piece of chewing gum in banzai trees? :}
VardaValar1: Or a soda? : )
fladrifv: ents only like root beer
VardaValar1: hahaha
AriehnV: :-D
fladrifv: atleast the bonsai ents go unseen
fladrifv: ....hmmm did they bonsai the entwives?
VardaValar1: o my. The bushes are moving
VardaValar1: ah hah!
Eonwe Valar: The entwives are the ones doing the bansai-ing
ArPharazonV: Bonsai are really entlings that became treeish prematurely.
VardaValar1: Here, my fellow entwife, let me do your hair too. Wonder where they all went?
fladrifv: its a strange world was sung once...
VardaValar1: A three-part song. We'll sing it right eventually, when we finally understand what we're doing. : )
AriehnV: i see green leaves falling ..
fladrifv: perks the last green ones up
fladrifv: bring me more sunshine oh noble sun, king winter is taking my leaves
top
VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Membership news:
VardaValar1: Fangorn should be back Tuesday evening, yay for more ents!
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
VardaValar1: Gimli was visiting here, stayed overnight, now gaming with Sauron from respective houses.
top
VardaValar1: Web:
ArPharazonV: Gimli gaming with Sauron. Only in the Valarguild.
VardaValar1: Eonwe has been working hard and may be able to give you news soon.
fladrifv: *sees another yellow leave drop quietly on the floor*
VardaValar1: Aye, the amazing combos can boggle the mind!
VardaValar1: Melkor has been fighting an infection in his hand, seems
to be getting better, but that's why we're not seeing him online for
more than a few minutes.
VardaValar1: We hope that folks affected by Hurricane Sandy are ok. The place is still a mess.
LizMarr: *picks up the leaf*
VardaValar1: Do ents manage to keep back the leaf fall a bit since they
can move into more protected areas and collect nutrients?
top
VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Which games other than WoW and LotRO have we been invading? er, playing?
VardaValar1: Star Trek Online for Gimli and Sauron
ArPharazonV: Nothing new here. Just flashgames of various types from various sites.
fladrifv: Chess: Fladrif
VardaValar1: ahh, how goes the chess?
fladrifv: started the new tournament, one step higher
fladrifv: and won a few games
LizMarr: real or computer?
fladrifv: against real ppl behind a computer
LizMarr: wow, cool
fladrifv: its an online tournament
fladrifv: sneaks of stage knowing he made more noise this meeting then the past year
VardaValar1: He's been doing very well in the tournaments. : )
VardaValar1: Huzzah for the ent!
VardaValar1: Be careful of the weather on that hill of yours.
fladrifv: semi pro level now
ArPharazonV: You must be rattling on from ent point of view.
LizMarr: I admire, I played tournement chess in school
fladrifv: would be nice to play a game
VardaValar1: A way for you two to play?
LizMarr: no no no, that was 40 years ago
fladrifv: that is just about the right timing in ent sense
ArPharazonV: The game's still the same as 40 years ago.
ArPharazonV: Still the same pieces, still the same moves.
LizMarr: I would not see the moves or realize the strategy
AriehnV: as far as i am aware it hasnt much changed in 1000 years :-)
VardaValar1: okies, just nice to be able to appreciate what Flad is doing. : )
fladrifv: oh the queen has gained power
LizMarr: pawn to q4... I can'teven remember the shorthand
fladrifv: she was just as powerfull as the king 1000 years ago (or yesterday/
ArPharazonV: Oh, and the bishop now moves in the shape of a cross to fit his name *nod*
VardaValar1: *chortle*
LizMarr: all I thought of was, bishops can turn on a move
fladrifv: *slides a chess for beginners book to Liz*
VardaValar1: Battlechess, that's the ticket. : )
LizMarr: yeh. trying to find an electronic copie of the hobbit atm
ArPharazonV: That the one where all the pieces kill each other graphically?
VardaValar1: Aye
fladrifv: back to the 1980s
VardaValar1: ooops, dated myself again.
ArPharazonV: Hey, I played it when I was young, and I'm not that old.
VardaValar1: We played it on a console machine.
LizMarr: wizards chess...
ArPharazonV: We on some old pc. From a floppy disk.
fladrifv: I played it on the 286 monochrome
VardaValar1: At least we had full color
fladrifv: (called hercules)
LizMarr has left the room.
VardaValar1: ouchie crash looks like
VardaValar1: WoW news:
VardaValar1: Eonwe, you had a report?
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: Patch 5.1: Landfall is out.
Eonwe Valar: The story line is progressing on the conflict between the Aliiance and the Horde.
ArPharazonV: Haven't ventured down that road yet myself. Took so long to level that I want to finish the other factions first.
ArPharazonV: Patch came just a few weeks too soon for me!
ArPharazonV: Allright, enough ranting, continue.
LizMarr has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Alot more than that came with Patch 5.1.
VardaValar1: Welcome back, Ioreth. : )
ArPharazonV: Aiyata!
VardaValar1: Is there a handy url you'd like to mention for the Patch notes?
LizMarr: not sure what happened there. suddenly only private talks
Eonwe Valar: Brawler's Guild (good luck getting in right now), solo players can get in pre-MoP raids,...
ArPharazonV: Where you can find new pets!
Eonwe Valar: Some Pet Battle stuff.
Eonwe Valar: For patch notes: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/7922040/51_Landfall_Now_Live_and_Patch_Notes-11_27_2012
Eonwe Valar: They also made changes to when profession cooldowns and farm crops reset.
Eonwe Valar: For that: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/7200062357
LizMarr: I fogot about those
Eonwe Valar: Since this is the first full week of December, Darkmoon Faire should also be going right now.
ArPharazonV: Yes, started today. New pet there too.
Eonwe Valar: Thus ends my report.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe. : )
VardaValar1: Any other WoW comments?
VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: Mostly folks are doing Hytbold quests or leveling.
VardaValar1: We did join up with the Palantiri and some other friends
for a 12 man skirmish raid Saturday, Dannenglor, and cleared it plus
encounters.
VardaValar1: We are planning on doing higher level (tiers) now that we're getting to know each other better.
VardaValar1: Any other gaming news or business before we switch to Tolkien?
fladrifv: I just gained my 10 day pandarian access
VardaValar1: Huzzah! Play fast!
ArPharazonV: yay :-)
top
VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: The earlier comment seemed interesting about ents
and what they do when the weather changes. They have to take care of
themselves and their charges as shepherds of the trees.
VardaValar1: How would they go about it?
VardaValar1: Some ents don't move much at the time of LotR, like Flad.
But he surely would still be concerned for what's left of his few trees.
ArPharazonV: Loosen the soil with their roots, digging channels for
water irrigation perhaps? Not sure what type of weather changes you
refer to.
VardaValar1: Oh, sorry, also have two folks with movie news.
VardaValar1: Weather changes like winter. Snow, ice storms. Drought. Fires.
VardaValar1: Hurricanes or tornadoes.
LizMarr: Rain rain rain... too much and wind as well. trade you
ArPharazonV: Extreme circumstances, I see.
VardaValar1: Floods, aye.
VardaValar1: Conditions that an ent needs to shepherd his trees for.
VardaValar1: They protect versus axe-carriers, as in their warning to Gimli.
VardaValar1: Concerning movie news, Fladrif, you had an interesting URL for us?
fladrifv: I have 2 images
VardaValar1: Nice. Go ahead.
fladrifv: showing the movie theather and the airport
ArPharazonV: *gasp* what movie could this be?
LizMarr: airport?
fladrifv: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brendonkeryn/8194791611/
fladrifv: http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/73094669.html?page=2&cut_expand=1
fladrifv: 2nd link you will have to scrol down
VardaValar1: Heh, always imaginied his using the top part of his staff to knock on Bilbo's door.
fladrifv: gollum swims inside the airport there
LizMarr: hubby says "wow"
ArPharazonV: The movie has premiered now, hasn't it?
VardaValar1: The new character shots are nice too. But that Gollum at the airport is a marvel.
ArPharazonV: Oh yes.
ArPharazonV: Looks a bit scary too.
fladrifv: will hopefully see it if its still up in february
fladrifv: then I can hand out first hand pictures :-)
ArPharazonV: Great!
LizMarr: I like that theatre. the scale looks off though
VardaValar1: Love to put your shots up on the site.
fladrifv: cross your branches that it will still be up
LizMarr: I don't know about premier, the "lauch" for USA is in a couple weeks, how about Europe?
VardaValar1: It looks as if they did a foreshortening thing.
LizMarr: *launch
VardaValar1: *makes a tree shape with crossed branches*
LizMarr: hum.... isn't a wreath a blessing, lots of crossed branches
fladrifv: 27th was premier
ArPharazonV: Right.
LizMarr: it would have been at that theatre
fladrifv: my aim is to watch it in that particular theather
VardaValar1: That would be fantastic. : )
VardaValar1: Hobbit Movie on Facebook has new shots: http://www.facebook.com/TheHobbitMovie
fladrifv: http://thehobbit.lego.com/en-us/products/79000/
fladrifv: coughs sorry for that last link I couldnt resist
VardaValar1: hehehehe
ArPharazonV: That lego-slot-hump on Gollum's back looks rather silly.
Is that so he can carry something on his back or something?
VardaValar1: Peter Jackson's Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/PeterJacksonNZ
VardaValar1: Probably trying to make Gollum lean over, came out looking hump-backed, aye.
VardaValar1: Needs a smoother on top of the slot.
AriehnV: hehe :-) btw i ve got the Gollum sculpture :-D
AriehnV: its really nice
fladrifv: http://sphotos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/705013_10151310830616558_1918539909_o.jpg
fladrifv: been here... :-)
fladrifv: nice Arien!
VardaValar1: heh, I've been typing in a side window. /facepalm
VardaValar1: cool Arien :-)
AriehnV: are you on the picture Flad?
VardaValar1: http://thehobbit.lego.com/en-us/characters/gollum/
VardaValar1: hit arrows to see more characters from the Hobbit movie, Lego style.
fladrifv: I have been in that room but not at that time
ArPharazonV: Someone had to take the picture!
AriehnV: LEGO.com The Hobbit™ Products - An Unexpected Gathering http://thehobbit.lego.com/en-us/products/79003/
AriehnV: just cool to see whats around
LizMarr: I was fussing that Legolis was not in the movie even though he
is on the film set. then I remembered that there are two more movies to
go
VardaValar1: I thought he was supposed to show up for like two minutes in the first movie?
ArPharazonV: I'm not even sure where the first movie ends. Not seen it yet. Probably getting dvd at some point.
LizMarr: that could be, not reason to say anything then
VardaValar1: That room would make it hard to look at the panel participants. whooie
VardaValar1: Definitely getting the DVD or Blu-ray or whatever they do.
Have to see the extra/deleted scenes, making of, etc. Plus watching the
movie
VardaValar1: Ok, going to hit the gavel for After-meeting for free chat about anything.
ArPharazonV: Indeed! Extended dvd is a must.
VardaValar1: *forms gavel at the end of one of the uncrossed branches*
VardaValar1: *whomp!*
top
VardaValar1: After-meeting!
LizMarr: whats the advantage of blu ray orver dvd?
VardaValar1: They get paid more. ;-) Supposed to be better resolution.
fladrifv: that you can actually see all the crossed branches and also the twigs
ArPharazonV: It's more expensive, therefore it has to be better.
VardaValar1: This would be one of the few moives that can really take advantage of the higher resolution.
LizMarr: one of those things where if you don't have a good tv then don't waste the money
VardaValar1: but if you have a high-def TV, then go for it.
ArPharazonV: And if you have a good enough tv, then you've already wasted enough money?
VardaValar1: heheheh
fladrifv: if your tv tells you he is ready for HD dont bother :-)
LizMarr: just saw an ad, they've rated it now
VardaValar1: What was the rating?
LizMarr: PG13
LizMarr: probably was a regular war to get that approved
VardaValar1: Were they wanting PG?
ArPharazonV: I wonder how chopped-off-heads-from-catapults-rotk made it past the rating business.
VardaValar1: lack of fine detail?
ArPharazonV: Dunno. I remember the scene rather vividly. The only thing
that seemed to be lacking was blood. But they'd probably bled out
already.
ArPharazonV: And some of the heads were shown in great detail.
VardaValar1: That's why the PG-13 then
VardaValar1: They got around blood since it was black
ArPharazonV: Yes, I remember that too. I guess I'm not sure what applies to what rating.
VardaValar1: A lot of folks warned people with small children not to bring them to LotR.
LizMarr: the clips I watched on youtube (set shots) the amount of blood would have made it R. as with the fighting graphics
VardaValar1: That with the small folk so much like children's sizes, it would be too liable to cause nightmares.
VardaValar1: But they got around it again with the black monster blood? JRRT was very helpful with that.
VardaValar1: The smoking upset some folks, but it was not considered a bad thing in JRRT's time.
LizMarr: I like his description of how it started, although I don't remember him saying how the dwarves got the habbit
VardaValar1: Have to wonder if Gandalf in his wanderings had something to do with it. : )
VardaValar1: Dwarves also visited the Shire.
ArPharazonV: Yes, they likely picked it up there. Hmm, that smoking looks like fun!
VardaValar1: or at least breathing smoke and fire looks "manly".
ArPharazonV: Besides, dwarves are resilient, they could probably smoke anything and not be negatively affected.
VardaValar1: *choke gasp wheeze* *yep, must be manly*
VardaValar1: Still have lungs. : )
ArPharazonV: Lungs of stone!
LizMarr: http://www.youtube.com/thehobbit check out production videos, my favorites
VardaValar1: Thanks
ArPharazonV: Are those all the videos we've linked from Peter Jackson's Facebook over the past months? :-) [Note: yes]
AriehnV: hmm HObbits without smoking =-O
AriehnV: unimaginable
AriehnV: where would the Hornblowers be i wonder ..
ArPharazonV: Music business.
LizMarr: probably I spend time on youtube slightly more than facebook
LizMarr: which is not much
ArPharazonV: Oh, I'm not "on" facebook myself, but I keep track of one or two pages like PJ's for Hobbitnews.
VardaValar1: "Home is behind you, the world is ahead."
ArPharazonV: And there are many paths to tread.
VardaValar1: hehe - music busniess for the Hornblowers. Or making Horns of Gondor.
LizMarr: Namarie then, the Steelers/Ravens game just got interesting. *waves*
VardaValar1: namarie!
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1: was looking at the videos :-)
LizMarr has left the room.
AriehnV: Namarie :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Production Trailer 7 has a certain elf.
VardaValar1: 6 Ian McKellan Gandalf
VardaValar1: Namarie for now. : )
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1 has left the room.
fladrifv has left the room.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
