showed for names and emails, plus we worked with it trying to make it
behave.

Before-meeting:
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.
VardaValar1 (VardaValar1) has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya. Making a meal, didn't want to be late though. afk
ArPharazon-V: Aiya
ArPharazon-V: didn't hear you there
ArPharazon-V: was in the middle of a pvp battle :)
EonweValar (Eonwe Valar) has entered the room.
EonweValar: Heya.
ArPharazon-V: Aiya
ArPharazon-V: Varda's making a meal
EonweValar: Phar, you didn't go and update your AIM or something like that, did you?
ArPharazon-V: Erh. No. But my account was temporarily compromised and I had to change passwords and all. What happend?
EonweValar: Well, "ArPharazonV" is not what's showing on my screen for your name.
EonweValar: Usually it would be.
ArPharazon-V: then what is?
VardaValar1: back
ArPharazon-V: Hmm, this is bad. I might have to reboot the program but
not sure if that does anything. Do I have the right name in your
buddylists?
EonweValar: WB Varda.
VardaValar1: I see ArPharazon-V
ArPharazon-V: Well that's good.
VardaValar1: trying to invite Turin
EonweValar: I see something else, which I'm ommitting for Phar's privacy.
ArPharazon-V: But rebooting aim anyway, maybe it helps for Eonwe.
ArPharazon-V: counting on you to save the gap, Varda
VardaValar1: Will do!
ArPharazon-V: Put this in the transcript, because I might not be the only one with the issue.
ArPharazon-V: saved
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has left the room.
EonweValar: Phar, you're actually the second person I've come across this with. Think the other was Thingol.
EonweValar: Bah, thought that was a "join" message.
VardaValar1: Turin of Valar Guild is what Turin's using, but it's not showing a Group Chat option. He's trying something else
Turin-V (email) has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Turin :-)
Turin-V: Well, that was most bizarre
Turin-V: Aiya to you both
EonweValar: Heya :}
VardaValar1: We haven't quite started
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.
ArPharazon-V: Aiya
VardaValar1: Ar-Pharazon was having problems with AIM also.
EonweValar: Welcome Back Phar :}
VardaValar1: Welcome back :-)
ArPharazon-V: Well I didn't actually fix the problem.
Turin-V: Aiya
ArPharazon-V: While normally (and to Varda apparently) my usual screenname, as set on the AOL site and in the AIM program shows
ArPharazon-V: to Eonwe, my real name showed as it was the screenname on the AIM website.
ArPharazon-V: So I simply changed that one to match my normal AIM
screenname. It's still showing 2 different things, but now those 2
different things I've edited to be the same.
ArPharazon-V: go to http://www.aim.com/ and sign in if you have the same problem, you'll see your name in the topleft corner
ArPharazon-V: So, what did I miss?
VardaValar1: We're still trying to work out everyone's AIM problems.
VardaValar1: Turin made it in. : )
ArPharazon-V: Showing to me as a gmail address.
VardaValar1: What did you have to do to change it to make the Group chat show, Turin?
ArPharazon-V: Is that what it's supposed to be?
AriehnV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: uh oh. Nope.
VardaValar1: Shows as Turin-V to me.
ArPharazon-V: You'll have to alter it in the transcript then.
VardaValar1: Aiya Arien :-)
EonweValar: Shows it as Turin-V to me as well.
AriehnV: Aiya there :-)
VardaValar1: We also put emails on our Membership page [Note: emails are scrambled on the site to stop crawlers and others.]
EonweValar: I see hiw email in paratheses when he first enters and
leaves the channel, and when I mouse over his name in my buddy list,
but as far as the channel goes I see Turin-V
VardaValar1: If it shows on Phar's transcript as an email, that's a
problem since we use his transcript as our base for making the web page.
VardaValar1: Some AIM problems being wrestled. : )
EonweValar: *parentheses
ArPharazon-V: I might have to reinstall AIM.
ArPharazon-V: I hope I still have the old install file.
VardaValar1: All good for you in AIM today, Arien?
VardaValar1: If you don't, it's ok. We shall muddle through.
ArPharazon-V: Because after my AIM problems during the week, it might actually be me.
Turin-V: So ArPharazon, how did you go in to change the name on the AIM
website? I think what I need to change is the account name or something.
ArPharazon-V: did you sign into AIM.com?
Turin-V: Yes, but that takes me to some strange version of AIM I was
stuck in before that has not group support and such. Not like a general
website.
Turin-V: One second, I am going to try something.
ArPharazon-V: It doesn't? Weird.
Turin-V (email) has left the room.
EonweValar: Also of note,...
ArPharazon-V: Allright, I've found the install file. I'll be back later.
Turin-V (email) has entered the room.
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has left the room.
VardaValar1: Good luck!
Turin-V: Did that work?
EonweValar: When Arien walked into the room, all I saw was "AriehnV has
entered the room." So, I guess checking all your setting while you're
at it would be useful.
VardaValar1: Lots of settings to mess with.
EonweValar: Aye.
EonweValar: I would *assume* this all has to do with privacy settings,
but as I don't seem to have had this problem from the opposite side
(people seeing anything I didn't want them to see) I haven't had to
delve into it.
VardaValar1: Arien sees Turin as his email, no name.
iryenth has been invited.
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.
realnameforGilraen (Iryenth) has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Gilraen : )
ArPharazon-V: That didn't work. Completely deinstalling and reinstalling.
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has left the room.
Turin-V: Actually, it's possible that I typed in an email in the place
for username, though that doesn't explain why it doesn't show the
screen name
VardaValar1: ouch. Poor Phar
realnameforGilraen: Aiya :-)
Turin-V: Aiya
VardaValar1: The screen name shows to Eonwe and me, but not to Arien.
AriehnV: ah there :-D
Turin-V (email) has left the room.
AriehnV: i see you as TurinV now
realnameforGilraen: I saw an email
realnameforGilraen: if that helps ;-)
VardaValar1: Also, oddly, Gilraen's names are reversed. She's showing
with her real name in the main chat, real name first with (Iryenth)
after in the right hand list.
VardaValar1: Sounds like AIM is being odd, since it's hitting so many at the same time.
realnameforGilraen: that's weird
VardaValar1: It does, thanks Gilraen. : )
Turin-V (turinofVG) has entered the room.
realnameforGilraen: you are all showing AIN screen names to me
realnameforGilraenl: *AIM
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Ahh, now I see Turin-V (turinofVG)
EonweValar: Now I see "turinofVG" in parentheses for Turin-V
ArPharazon-V: Now I see turinofVG
realnameforGilraen: I see just turinofVG
turinofVG: So now it all makes sense
ArPharazon-V: What do you see about me?
VardaValar1: So you see what we see in the parenthesis.
EonweValar: All I see in chat for Gilraen's name is "Gilraen", but I might've set her "Full Name" in my buddy list to Gilraen.
ArPharazon-V: I see Iryenth.
turinofVG: I messed up and put in an email address for the username as the first part of this issue.
VardaValar1: ArPharazon-V in the transcript, ArPharazon-V(ArPharazonV)
VardaValar1: on the side.
turinofVG: Actually, that is all there is the rest I don't know
ArPharazon-V: I see ArPharazonV
ArPharazon-V: Haven't I always been ArPharazonV in the transcript?
VardaValar1: You seem to be good now, Turin. : )
EonweValar: When Gilraen walks in, it's "GIlraen (Iryenth) etc." For Phar, it's "ArPharazonV (ArPharazonV) etc."
turinofVG: Was going to say maybe those outside buddy list don't see the short username but this new account has none.
VardaValar1: We use your transcript, Phar. : )
EonweValar: Until today, it's always been ArPharazonV, aye, Phar.
VardaValar1: True
VardaValar1: Odd. AriehnV has nothing in parenthesis to me.
ArPharazon-V: But in *your* transcript it's ArPharazon-V?
VardaValar1: Everyone else does.
EonweValar: At least as far as in chats goes. I don't usually notice my
Buddy List stuff unless it's evidently different, ai.e. a changed name.
ArPharazon-V: And it always has been?
VardaValar1: I don't think the -V was there before
ArPharazon-V: Well this is weird, something might've changed in AIM if Gilraen sees turinofVG too, and it's not just me
VardaValar1: One way to check would be old quilted transcripts.
EonweValar: No, it's always been ArPharazonV
ArPharazon-V: I know reinstalling AIM didn't help
VardaValar1: AIM seems to be different itself today, too many of us seeing odd things.
ArPharazon-V: maybe
ArPharazon-V: did *you* upgrade aim instead of me?
VardaValar1: Not today.
turinofVG: Well, in my case the problem wasn't with AIM but with some odd version of AIM I got.
EonweValar: Why would we upgrade you? :} (ok, bad joke :})
EonweValar: I don't have the absolute newest AIM yet, no.
VardaValar1: Because he's just so good? : )
VardaValar1: I update mine each time it says update, pretty much. So this should be the latest.
VardaValar1: Turin, how did you get an odd version of AIM?
EonweValar: I'm in the version 7.5 family at least. Haven't taken the time to upgraed to the newest minor version.
VardaValar1: and there he went
VardaValar1: Turin's old AIM name was credesinc101
ArPharazon-V: I know I haven't upgraded. Still 5.9.6089, the same as
the installfile I still had, both before and after the reinstall.
turinofVG: I'm not too sure, I may have selected one option of download
that was different, but once I went to "legacy download" I saw a
version of AIM with a number that made more sense and here I am
VardaValar1: Legacy download would probably be the older versions.
turinofVG: I think it may have been more an older style that is still maintained.
VardaValar1: Turin-V shows as offline to me now in the IM's, but present in the main chat and right side window of names.
realnameforGilraen: I'm in 7.5x like Eo
EonweValar: Aye.
turinofVG: That is a it should be.
Turin-V: Because that Turin-V screenname belongs to a different username
ArPharazon-V: turinofVG still for me
turinofVG: that username being me mucking up and putting in my email address
EonweValar: OK, so you made a brand new account?
turinofVG: Yes
EonweValar: Ok.
VardaValar1: I see a setting that lets a person format the Username
VardaValar1: Options > AIM
ArPharazon-V: In the main program? I checked that, it said ArPharazonV, even when Eonwe saw my real name.
turinofVG: Ah, o well, all works in the end
VardaValar1: Except for me, with Gilraen's real name showing in the transcript.
turinofVG: Also my version is 7.5.14.8, so it doesn't seem too old
VardaValar1: For that part where my stuff is quilted in, Copy-Paste should clear that up for you, Gilraein.
VardaValar1: sp Gilraen. Extre i for free.
realnameforGilraen: free is good ;-)
ArPharazon-V: Does everyone see Gilraen? I see Iryenth.
VardaValar1: I've never seen Gilraen, only Iryenth
EonweValar: Then Gilraen is probably strictly from my buddy list.
VardaValar1: Well, let's start the meeting a bit more formally. : )
EonweValar: I probably set that so I know who she is easily :}
turinofVG: Ah before that
VardaValar1: Aye, part of this is what our own settings are.
AriehnV: I ve got 7.5.14.8
turinofVG: I want to say there may be times where I am unresponsive, I
soon must start cooking something that will demand my attention
EonweValar: Arien has the newest AIM version
VardaValar1: Ok, I may or may not have to leave in 15 minutes.
turinofVG: But I will come back in between active steps!
VardaValar1: I have the same version as Arien's
EonweValar: Options -> Help and Feedback -> About should show you your AIM version.
VardaValar1: Great. Scroll is your friend. :-)
EonweValar: Depending on how old your AIM version is, heh.
top
VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: A star shines on the hour of our meeting.
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: We're happy to welcome Turin back. : )
VardaValar1: He hadn't been removed from the Membership page yet, but it was about 2007 since the last contact.
VardaValar1: Are you still here, Turin?
ArPharazon-V: aiyata!
turinofVG: I am indeed.
AriehnV: Aiyata indeed :-)
VardaValar1: If you have a minute, would you like to tell the gang what brought you back. :-)
turinofVG: Well, chance as in most things. Earlier this week I was
rereading the Lord of the Rings and I hit a point that had brought up
some discussion or other in a meeting in the past. That brought up the
Guild again in my memory (that can often be fickle) and caused me to go
back to the site and especially realize how long it had been since I
was about, which led to the desire to be reaquainted.
ArPharazon-V: Repressed memories
turinofVG: Not quite repressed, more like overrun with time.
VardaValar1: Apparently your email changed so we were not reaching you with the yearly howdy, and the AIM name is different too.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Indis : )
karakedi25: aiya
turinofVG: Aiya
EonweValar: Heya Indis :}
VardaValar1: Turin emailed me after that and then came to the meeting, right when AIM decided to go nutty. : )
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
EonweValar: Aside from my sunburn, no, hehe.
VardaValar1: Arien's name has shifted on my friend list and IM window to a real name. Not good.
ArPharazon-V: Other than that my AIM account was compromised and closed for a day.. no.
VardaValar1: hehe - Arien! No burning Eonwe. : )
ArPharazon-V: Had to change my password to reactivate so I thought that was the problem.
VardaValar1: Yikes, Phar.
ArPharazon-V: But if more people have AIM issues today....
VardaValar1: It's acting oddly for all of us.
Ariehn V: Is this now there?
ArPharazon-V: it might be more that AIM issues caused my account closing, than that my account-closing caused the AIM issues.
VardaValar1: Now Arien just went back to normal
ArPharazon-V: It's been AriehnV for me the whole time, as normal.
Ariehn V: i have changed it on the profile page as my first and second name :-P
VardaValar1: We may all need to see about our settings.
top
VardaValar1: Ok, on to Web News:
ArPharazon-V: Aye, exactly, Arien. I made ArPharazonV my first name and left the last name blank.
VardaValar1: I almost had a long story edited to put onlne for you
guys, from Cassia-(T) and Siobhan-(T), but didn't quite make it. Should
be up tomorrow, I trust, maybe tonight.
EonweValar: My first name is Eonwe, my last name is Valar :} Nice to meet you, hehehe.
VardaValar1: hehehe
VardaValar1: The story that comes after it is ready to read, but didn't want to point you to it out of order. : )
ArPharazon-V: It was tempting to use my druid's first and last name, but that would be even more confusing.
VardaValar1: Yes it would, Phar. : )
top
VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Any non-WoW, non-LotRO games we want to mention this week? : )
VardaValar1: (I don't see Fladrif online, but the chess tournament is still out for vacation I believe.)
VardaValar1: Some StarCraft/BroodWar for Fangorn and me.
VardaValar1: Phar, any flashgames?
ArPharazon-V: Yes.
ArPharazon-V: And I'm not hearing the sound for chatroom entries. Need to change that, hang on.
VardaValar1: Those help me too. Says wake up, someone typed. : )
ArPharazon-V: Okay, can you type something *now*?
VardaValar1: but it's just a beep
ArPharazon-V: Thanks!
VardaValar1: type type
ArPharazon-V: That works.
VardaValar1: Yay!
ArPharazon-V: Even flashes the button now.
ArPharazon-V: Anyway.
VardaValar1: Nice : )
ArPharazon-V: Yes, I've played flashgames. In fact, I spent most of my flashgame time on one in particular.
ArPharazon-V: It's called Flood Runner 4. I've not played the first 3,
and I'm not sure I will, but I'm enjoying this one, though it's quite a
grind.
VardaValar1: What makes it fun?
ArPharazon-V: The idea is simple: you play a little guy running across
platforms from floods or fires or even a t-rex. The running is
automatic, what you have to do is jump when you need to.
ArPharazon-V: So basic control: simple.
VardaValar1: Mario T-rex? : )
VardaValar1: Jurassic Mario? : )
ArPharazon-V: But there's different levels, and you can drop down or go
up through trampolines, through basically 5 different environments.
ArPharazon-V: Clouds, Air-platforms (with a cloud chasing you),
land-platforms (with a Rex), fire-platforms (with a big fire after you)
and water (with an actual flood after you)
ArPharazon-V: from what I understand, earlier games were a bit simpler in that aspect :)
VardaValar1: (I have to go, but already saved the earlier part. Eonwe has the gavel.)
ArPharazon-V: And now for the parts that keep my playing.
ArPharazon-V: *me
ArPharazon-V: 1) You can level! When you do things or pick things up
you get experience, and gain levels, up to lvl 30, each time unlocking
new upgrades or different items you can pick up during the run.
ArPharazon-V: and 2) Achievements! There's a lot of em. Bronze, Silver
and Gold medals for each achievements, usually starting with doing
something once and then having to do it dozens or hundreds of times,
over as many games as it takes.
ArPharazon-V: And as you get more powerful, it gets easier, and as you
learn more about the game, you start to know what to do more to reach
certain goals.
ArPharazon-V: And since it takes so very long to get the gold on some
things, it'll take you many runs, it feels quite addictive ;)
VardaValar1: heheh
ArPharazon-V: Allright, url.
VardaValar1: Namarie for now, looking forward to reading the transcript. : )
ArPharazon-V: Namarie!
Turin-V reallastname: Namarie
Ariehn V: Namarie Varda
ArPharazon-V: Officially from Tremorgames.com, at
http://www.tremorgames.com/playgame/5254/flood-runner-4.html but
there's also other sites on which it is available, personally I play it
elsewhere.
Iryenth: Namarie Varda!
ArPharazon-V: So enjoy!
ArPharazon-V: And I hope the transcript will be fine for you to read, Varda :)
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar. : )
[Note: switches to Ar-Pharazon's transcript, not something normally mentioned but might aid in figuring out AIM.]
VardaValar1 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Phar :}
Eonwe Valar: WoW:
ArPharazonV: Anyway, not much other gaming from me, outside WoW anyway.
I've been watching an 8-hour youtube-ification of a live-stream of an
alpha of a fighting game in progress, but that's not gaming on my end.
ArPharazonV: Allright, continue :-)
Eonwe Valar: Blizzard announced a breach of security on their servers this past week.
Eonwe Valar: Read http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/securityupdate.html for the genreal story.
Eonwe Valar: genreal = general
Eonwe Valar: Short version: It's strongly recommended you come up with a new password for your Bnet account.
Eonwe Valar: There's no evidence yet that financial info i.e. credit
card numbers were compromised, but I'd keep an eye on them anyway.
ArPharazonV: Several people I know have been considering finally getting an authenticator because of that.
ArPharazonV: sorry, pc froze there for a bit, anything said after my first line?
ArPharazonV: *my last line
Eonwe Valar: No.
ArPharazonV: Good.
Eonwe Valar: On a lighter note,...
Eonwe Valar: Patch 5.0x data should be coming into your downloader already.
Eonwe Valar: Lothar:
Eonwe Valar: I hope everyone got their Darkmoon Faire stuff done for the week :}
ArPharazonV: It's over now here in Europe :-)
Eonwe Valar: It's over here too.
ArPharazonV: I was thinking US had a couple of hours left, but it ended a day earlier.
ArPharazonV: Sunday's not the last day.
Eonwe Valar: Runs Sunday to Sunday.
ArPharazonV: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: Er, Sunday to Saturday.
ArPharazonV: My mistake.
Eonwe Valar: Midnight the following Sunday being the end, ready or not.
Eonwe Valar: Not much to report on runs. being in the space between expansion, and me having no luck in Molten Core, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: LotRO:
Eonwe Valar: There was a run Monday.
ArPharazonV: Oh, I had luck in Molten Core, but I'll say that after you're done with LotRO :-)
Eonwe Valar: Roots of Fangorn
completed with a combined Lhee group and Valar Guild run: Amroth-(V)
(lore-master Lhee), Kymli (minstrel), Lycius (hunter), Nimrodel-(V)
(champion Cynthiajane), Smashey (champion) who switched to Philleth
(warden), and Varda-(Valar) (hunter Fainan).
Eonwe Valar: LotRO's wait for the next expansion will be over sooner than WoW's, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: September 5th for Riders of Rohan if memory serves.
AriehnV: yes i got my leatherworking and jewelcrafter skill points :-D
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
ArPharazonV: You have those in LotRO too?
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
ArPharazonV: Nice. Does jewelcrafting do a similar thing as WoW?
Eonwe Valar: We have those professions in LotRO, don't know if Arien specifically has them, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Makes rings, necklaces, bracelets, some class-specific stuff, and runes that give Hope.
Eonwe Valar: (Hope = small boost to morale/power and damage)
Eonwe Valar: Oh, and earrings.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, it's mostly gems for gear-enhancements in WoW, so not
really the same, though I do believe there's rings or something you can
make.
Eonwe Valar: You can make some rings and necklaces, as well as a few
other things in WoW, but aye, it's mostly about the gems. In LotRO,
it's about the jewelry, and the Hope Tokens.
Eonwe Valar: Any other gaming?
Eonwe Valar: Last call :}
turinofVG: Well, not sure if it counts as news, but I suppose I could tell what games I play now.
ArPharazonV: Well, in WoW, I had more luck in MC than you apparently, Eonwe
ArPharazonV: Because I got my second binding of the windseeker
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
ArPharazonV: and by this time next week my first legendary weapon
should be complete, even though I won't be able to equip it :-)
Eonwe Valar: I've seen the same binding 3 times in 45ish runs, heh.
ArPharazonV: Aye, it can be painful.
Eonwe Valar: Turin, feel free to share your current gaming :} Might help you find other guild members in those games :}
turinofVG: Isn't much these days, just League of Legends and now LotRO (hopefully to play with you guys some)
AriehnV: are you on the normal Valar server?
turinofVG: Yes indeed.
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
turinofVG: I have a character, for now, named Turambiel
turinofVG: man Champion to be exact
AriehnV: :-) okay Turambiel
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Bah, AIM at work again.
AriehnV: welcome back :-)
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Eonwe Valar: What'd I miss since "Turin, feel free etc."?
ArPharazonV: Eonwe Valar: Turin, feel free to share your current gaming

Valar has left the room. 11:33 pm Turin-V reallastname 11:33 pm I have
a character, for now, named Turambiel man Champion to be exact
Eonwe Valar: You can join channel Valar on Landroval and we should have
members in there. If you want to catch Varda, you can find a list of
her characters (and all characters in our Landroval branch) on the
Games Site.
turinofVG: Valar ok
Eonwe Valar: That Eonwė guy's character can be found there too, but Monday and Wednesday are the only days he shows usually :}
Eonwe Valar: *characters
turinofVG: I was overcomplicating things, I knew of a channel but tried things like Valarguild, Valarguildchannel and all that
turinofVG: but was far simplier
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: OK, if we have no other gaming, let's move to Tolkien
top
Eonwe Valar: Tolkien:
Eonwe Valar: I'm guessing none of us have done anything for the RP this week :}
Eonwe Valar: If you're wondering what I'm talking about Turin, check out: http://valarguild.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=meorp2
Eonwe Valar: That's part 2. Part 1 is: http://valarguild.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=MEORP
ArPharazonV: I did notice Arien delving into the quizzing threads.
Eonwe Valar: Don't have to read it, just thought I'd give you the links :}
Eonwe Valar: We were planning to close all of those old, dead trivia
threads and letting some new, fresh ones get going. It just got lost in
the myriad of real life stuff.
ArPharazonV: We could take this as an opportunity to revive them, if she's willing to come up with new trivia.
Eonwe Valar: I think a fresh start would actually be better, so as to not be limitted by the already-established answers.
Eonwe Valar: Opinions?
Eonwe Valar: For what Phar and I are talking about: http://valarguild.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=trivia
Eonwe Valar: Arien can even start the new ones off with the what she gave in the other threads :}
ArPharazonV: It's a possibility, I suppose.
Eonwe Valar: They've all been inactive for 2 years, and while a good
discussion can always have something interesting added to it, trivia
and such is, to me, better if picked up fresh once the old is obviously
done with.
Eonwe Valar: And why should all the old trivia threads have all the fun, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Everyone who's still here and paying attention say Fastitocalon :}
ArPharazonV: "That weird word of which I have no idea what it means."
Eonwe Valar: Fastitocalon is the last of the great turtle-fish :}
turinofVG: Fastitocalon
ArPharazonV: I see.
Eonwe Valar: Appears in "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil" if memory serves.
ArPharazonV: Never been able to acquire that one.
Eonwe Valar: I haven't seen it in too long.
Eonwe Valar: Unfortunately I saw it in a library, hehe.
turinofVG: It might appear more frequently once the new movie comes out,
ArPharazonV: If it didn't when LotR came out, I don't see why it would be much different for The Hobbit.
turinofVG: Ah, fair point. Wasn't sure if it had before or not
AriehnV: Fastitocalon
ArPharazonV: Not that I can remember. Might be wrong.
Eonwe Valar: I don't remember seeing it reprinted during the LotR movie run, or I would have a copy of it.
Eonwe Valar: I haven't seen it at my local used bookstore either, so no luck even with used copies.
Eonwe Valar: OK, I'm going to lock the old trivia/game threads. I will
kick off one new LotR trivia thread, and if there's interest expressed,
we can kick off a Sil trivia thread. Arien, I invite you to kick off
new threads for the games you just added to, using your recent answers
if you wish.
Eonwe Valar: Hopefully the new threads will have new life :}
ArPharazonV: Worth a shot.
Eonwe Valar: I'm also unstickying old trivia threads.
ArPharazonV: Just don't delete them, in case we want to get.. inspiration.. from them?
Eonwe Valar: If it becomes necessary I can sticky the most current
running threads, but I imagine their use will keep them at the top
anyway since I'm locking the rest, hehehe.
Eonwe Valar: No, I've no intention to delete, only to lock so old games don't get added to instead of the current running stuff.
Eonwe Valar: I'm thinking an adjustment to the rules for trivia threads
to keep them fresh: remove the questioner's ability to allow looking
up. If we don't know the answer, and hints can't help, it's probably
time for a new thread :}
Eonwe Valar: If we can't answer a question and it kills the thread, it
tells us what we need to remember in case it gets asked at some pojnt
in the new thread :}
ArPharazonV: Ah, a new thread every 2 questions, could be fun.
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, I trust it won't be that bad.
Eonwe Valar: That doesn't mean immediately set in with the real tough ones to kill the thread on the second question :}
AriehnV: I find the creatures thread very hard
Eonwe Valar: LotR trivia thread kicked off :}
Eonwe Valar: Which thread?
Eonwe Valar: *Arien?
Eonwe Valar: "The Name Game: Characters (People and Animals)" ?
ArPharazonV: ah, the name games :-)
Eonwe Valar: Let's go ahead and bang the Gavel here. AIM got us off to
a late start, but it doesn't seem we have alot here ready for Tolkien
chat, and we have a trivia thread up if anyone wants to move it
multiple questions forward tonight :}
Eonwe Valar: *Bangs Gavel*
top
Eonwe Valar: Aftermeeting :}
Eonwe Valar: Rp contributors, get read the RP this week and think about your next post :}
Eonwe Valar: *get reading
turinofVG: a question for the trivia game, is the one who answers the one who is suppose to make the next question?
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, I copy/pasted the rules, so I might've missed a line, but..
Eonwe Valar: the flow is as follows:
turinofVG: Ah ok, I shall go back and check
Eonwe Valar: 1.) Person A asked question
turinofVG: or You'll provide
Eonwe Valar: 2.) Person B asnwers question.
Eonwe Valar: 3.) Person A confirms if Person B got it right. If so,..
Eonwe Valar: 4.) Person B asks a new question.
Eonwe Valar: Otherwise 5.) Person A says Person B got it wrong
Eonwe Valar: Or,in the case of multiple answers from people posted, says who got it right
Eonwe Valar: Basically, whoever gets it right asks the next question,
aye :} That person must wait for the answer to be confirmed right or
wrong though, just in case.
Eonwe Valar: I must go afk for a moment.
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Back, but storms are outside my window so I need to flip my computer off before they do it for me.
karakedi25: namarie
ArPharazonV: Aiyata
ArPharazonV: and Namarie
Eonwe Valar: Take care all, good night, sleep well, have fun, and enjoy the trivia :}
ArPharazonV: good luck with the storm
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
karakedi25: Namarie!
karakedi25 has left the room.
AriehnV: That looks like the right answer to me Turin :-)
ArPharazonV: Ah, right. I completely forgot about Deagol.
turinofVG: I was about to say, can we proceed without the question asker?
ArPharazonV: I'm not sure. I think Eonwe is supposed to confirm your answer.
ArPharazonV: ..You know, just in case you forgot one or something.
turinofVG: Course, there is always the chance that the one who asks may have forgotten part of the answer as well :-)
ArPharazonV: Ah, but I think the asker is the only one who's allowed to look up the answer ;-)
Iryenth has left the room.
turinofVG: True enough
turinofVG has left the room.
AriehnV: Namarie :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: last in the room, saving and sending!
