Glorfindel VG has entered the room.
iryenth has been invited.
Invitation result for buddy Iryenth : Iryenth is busy.
VardaValar1: Aiya Glorfindel :-)
Glorfindel VG: Aiya :-)
Gwaihir-Valar: No... it is quite possibly the weirdest game I've played in a very very long time, if not ever...
EonweValar: As in, not easy to describe from what I've heard of it.
VardaValar1: Let's start the meeting. Will you be able to stay long enough to tell your report during Gaming?
EonweValar: THat probably wasn't clear from my first statement.
Gwaihir-Valar: I'll be here, just might be a bit distracted ;-)
VardaValar1: ok

VardaValar1: Eonwe, you had a report. Go ahead.
EonweValar: Thanks.
EonweValar: As you all should know by now, the Games Site Mass-Update has begun.
EonweValar: Every Full Member who had an e-mail listed on the Members page was sent the E-mail.
EonweValar: Some of you have already replied :}
ArPharazon-V: Figured I'd wait until a meeting :)
EonweValar: Some e-mails were undeliverable, and should contact Varda immediately.
EonweValar: Varda has alist of those on the News Page.
Gwaihir-Valar (GwaihirValar) has left the room.
EonweValar: I need everyone's Gaming Info by September 30th.
gwaihirvalar has been invited.
Gwaihir-Valar (GwaihirValar) has entered the room.
EonweValar: I'll be trying to update the Games Site listing as we go this year, so you should be able to see your gaming info almost immediately (allow a couple of days delay just in case).
EonweValar: Thus ends my report. Without further ado, I will now be accepting replies to the Games Site in whispers during the Meeting.
EonweValar: *Games Site Mass-Update
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe. That's a ton of work.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: Aiya
VardaValar1: heh, do we repeat it again now? : )
EonweValar: Only the Oromesque version :}
VardaValar1: To make it short, everyone please reply to Eonwe's mail for the Games Site.
VardaValar1: Yay Orome!
VardaValar1: Do we have any further Membership news?

karakedi25: Did I mention that I'll probably be out of the country for about 10 days this month?
VardaValar1: You think you'll be able to come into LotRO now and then from way over there, though?
AriehnV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Arien
karakedi25: with consequent effects on my availability
AriehnV: Aiya Varda and everyone
karakedi25: it depends on times and connection
karakedi25: I'll be in the Middle East, so big time difference
VardaValar1: You might have to play with our Euros. :-)
VardaValar1: Any further membership news?

VardaValar1: Web:

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Glorfindel, would you like to make mention of that new game you were trying? : )
VardaValar1: It was El Shaddai
Glorfindel VG: I did try the game Atlantica
Glorfindel VG: Is that what you're referring to?
Gwaihir-Valar: That would've been me playing El SHaddai ;-)
VardaValar1: ack
VardaValar1: Gwaihir
Gwaihir-Valar: Old Glorfinder ;-)
ArPharazon-V: wrong G!
Gwaihir-Valar: not new one
VardaValar1: You, the old guy. ;-)
Gwaihir-Valar: I recently finished El Shaddai for the PS3
Gwaihir-Valar: It's not an easy game to really sum up in a small context, but it's definitely a fun one, although the religious overtones could get on some peoples' nerves but between the insane art style and the interesting gameplay I think most people who try it would find something to like in it
Gwaihir-Valar: currently writing a full review of it, so if you wanna know more you can check out my website http://www.tgr-net.com
Gwaihir-Valar: later today probably ;-)
VardaValar1: (Fangorn waves hi!)
VardaValar1: Great! Thanks, Gwaihir. :-)

VardaValar1: Fladrif has his internet back. :-)
VardaValar1: and is in Germany now.
VardaValar1: Grats for making the important part of the move - to the internet with us!
AriehnV: grats Flad :-)
fladrifv: bows
fladrifv: thank you varda
VardaValar1: Glad to have you back. :-)
fladrifv: will take some time before I have time for games again
VardaValar1: Glad you could drop in!

VardaValar1: Any other non-WoW, non-LotRO games you folks would like to mention?
VardaValar1: Sauron and Bilbo have been into the first person shooters. Fangorn and I have been playing a little BroodWar on LAN.
VardaValar1: Eonwe, would you like to do a WoW report?
ArPharazon-V: A few more flashgames, some fun rpg kinds, but nothing special.
VardaValar1: Sounds like you had a good time, and that's what they're for.
ArPharazon-V: Website with daily new games always ensures that I have more things to test out :)
EonweValar: :}

EonweValar: WoW Report:
EonweValar: Sunday Run:
EonweValar: Attending: Eonwë, Elwing, Varda, Fangorn, Bofur, Arien
We cleared out Molten Core, then cleared out Ahn'Qiraj 40, completing quests and getting rep.
EonweValar: Elwing got the Red Qiraji Battle Tank :}
ArPharazon-V: Grats!
EonweValar: So that gives two of us at least in the guild with one:}
VardaValar1: So now we have to figure out whether to follow Eonwe or Elwing on the red mount. :-)
EonweValar: :}
EonweValar: Friday Run:
EonweValar: Attending: Varda, Elwing, Eonwë
This Friday was spent working on Twilight Highlands quests and filling out Eonwë's tanking gear for his new second spec.
EonweValar: Tonight's plans:
EonweValar: Vault of Archavon if we have Wintergrasp, Trial of the Crusader if we don't.
EonweValar: In other WOW news, looks like Worgen are getting some mounts in 4.3 to even out the mount discrepency.
EonweValar: For info: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/3401307
VardaValar1: But Worgen are their own mounts. They did the same with the Tauren.
EonweValar: And a Dev Blog about upcomign tanking changes: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/3401304
EonweValar: Worgen are keeping Running Wild, unlike Tauren Plainsrunning.
EonweValar: Personally I'd just go ahead and give Tauren Plainsrunning back with this change, but I don't work at Blizzard, so... :}
VardaValar1: Now the worgen can eat the mounts and keep on running.
EonweValar: Hehe
EonweValar: They're not quite *that* feral after the starting area :}
EonweValar: I'll leave it to you all to decide what you think of the new Worgen mounts :}
VardaValar1: They could put in something like the undead that eat...things.
VardaValar1: You know we'll collect the worgen mounts. :-)
EonweValar: That concludes my WoW report.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe.

VardaValar1: LotRO report:
VardaValar1: Monday we warmed up with Helegrod mark runs, a first time in for Nellas-(V). :-)
VardaValar1: Then we broke into three-man groups, one running the School and one the Library. Amazing what can overrun such places.
VardaValar1: Wednesday we hit Helegrod again, some of us really want the marks, and it's a great way to get everyone involved in a big group. We can't always take everyone for the next runs, which may only allow 6.
VardaValar1: We went into Skumfil for deeds and quests, just incidentally killing the boss spider Brumbereth just because she's there, and for medallions.
VardaValar1: Yesterday we did an unscheduled 6-man running Grand Stairs a couple of times in quest mode, helping with quests and that long list of deeds.
VardaValar1: We do run a lot of things unscheduled, our normal way, when we just happen to get a group together that feels like it. Often three-mans.
VardaValar1: Any other LotRO news?
VardaValar1: Any other comments, suggestions, jokes?

karakedi25: Lots of stuff happening in the new expansion, but too much to detail here. Amost every class is getting some improvements (and changes not perceived as such).
VardaValar1: The NDA is lifted and there is some help on our forum and the other forums.
VardaValar1: Get thy traits to 12. :-)
karakedi25: and collect skirmish marks
VardaValar1: The trait cap is lifting to 12.
VardaValar1: Why do we want to collect skirmish marks? :-)
karakedi25: they'll be needed for getting the new gear
VardaValar1: Same as before, then.
VardaValar1: A combo of skirmish marks and tokens.
karakedi25: yes, though four pieces can be had with only skirm marks, at a very very high price
VardaValar1: Sounds as if people will be into skirmishes then. :-)
karakedi25: I expect so. Also a new mark, superiior 4th, for the good stuff
VardaValar1: And it requires specific instances, like the superior third mark?
karakedi25: we'll be running the same classics, but at level 75. (No new instances until after the expansion)
VardaValar1: Thanks, Indis.
VardaValar1: Are we ready to go into Tolkien now?
karakedi25: New LM pet--kind of iffy still.
karakedi25: a
karakedi25: (LM-lore-master)
VardaValar1: I see no further typing, so that must have been a yes.

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: First, did anyone want to mention anything about the forum rp story? [note: post made later that night.]

VardaValar1: If not, we will move on to our scheduled Fellowship Chapter 4 "A Short Cut to Mushrooms".
VardaValar1: Please feel free to grab your Fellowship book and make comments as we go through.
VardaValar1: JRRT was a super wordsmith.
VardaValar1: It's interesting to note that the title is short cut, rather than shortcut.
ArPharazon-V: While it actually was a shortcut, it wasn't actually that short. So it was intentionally made unaccurate?
VardaValar1: A short cut combined with mushrooms sounds like something hobbity going on with food.
ArPharazon-V: Oh, that works.
galdorandwe has entered the room.
galdorandwe: Aiya
VardaValar1: If they had gone on the road, they would probably have never made it with the Black Riders around.
VardaValar1: Aiya, now on Ch 4 of FotR, just starting.
VardaValar1: Well-time, Galdor. : )
galdorandwe: cool. Bad Thunderstorms here and dinner soon, but I'm here for a few minutes at least :-)
VardaValar1: We've been having short power outages and an actual sprinkle of rain!
galdorandwe: Ch4..Shortcut to Mushrooms?
ArPharazon-V: Short cut ;)
VardaValar1: We were just commenting on that title. Note that it doesn't say shortcut but short cut.
karakedi25: aiya Galdor
galdorandwe: Aiya Indis
VardaValar1: At the start, Frodo wakes up to find the elves left them without waking him, and left food for them.
VardaValar1: Frodo's plan after seeing the Black Riders the previous day is to walk to Bucklebury as quickly as possible, thus he needs the shortcut.
VardaValar1: He sees how merry and cheerful his friend Pippin is and we have foreshadowing of the way he thinks.
VardaValar1: He doesn't want to take his friend with him into darkness, to endanger them.
ArPharazon-V: The term "short cut" already appears there, with Pippin saying "Short cuts make long delays".
VardaValar1: Aye!
VardaValar1: More foreshadowing. Sam is watching Frodo and has a good idea that Frodo is considering ditching not only Pippin but him.
VardaValar1: Frodo's also speeding up. He plans not to spend more than a day at Crickhollow.
ArPharazon-V: Frodo isn't exactly subtle about it to Sam. In a few minutes he asks Sam in two different ways if he still wants to come with him.
VardaValar1: Sam has picked up a sense of purpose too. Not just wanting to sight-see.
ArPharazon-V: Talking to Elves is good for that, apparently :)
VardaValar1: Aye, Frodo starts trying to discourage him, but Sam had already picked up on the mood.
ArPharazon-V: Giving you a better sense of the world and what you can accomplish in it.
VardaValar1: Looks like. :-)
VardaValar1: Then in more foreshadowing, Frodo decides to take Sam. He's not really thinking about taking Pippin.
VardaValar1: Then they take their shortcut, a straight line across country instead of the road. But he's not thinking about what cross-country really means.
VardaValar1: Dips, rough vegetation, all the things the road smoothes over.
VardaValar1: Exactly as Phar mentioned that Pip noted.
VardaValar1: Frodo is also making sure Pippin does not go to The Golden Perch. :-)
ArPharazon-V: There's a comment Frodo makes that I like. It sounds a bit mocking.
VardaValar1: They did manage to avoid a Black Rider that apparently didn't want to try to bring a horse down the bank, but has an idea where they're headed.
ArPharazon-V: "If you are supposed to be on the road, there is some chance that you will be looked for on the road and not off it."
ArPharazon-V: There's a bit of mockery or irony in there, a bit of an "oh really?" moment
VardaValar1: He did the same mild mockery about the Golden Perch.
VardaValar1: Sam does a nice bit of hiding his regret. He likes his half-pints too.
ArPharazon-V: hehe
AriehnV: didnt he say something to the effect of *fields and forests might make long short cuts but inns make longer ones*?
VardaValar1: Aye :-)
ArPharazon-V: Short cuts make delays, but inns make longer ones.
AriehnV: thats it :-) thanks Phara
ArPharazon-V: *salutes* page right here, no problem ;)
ArPharazon-V: Their going through bushes and ditches seems a bit foreshadowy of the Old Forest.
VardaValar1: Pippin shows his worth to the readers several times. He got up early and was ready to go. He knows the terrain and helps them straighten out their course. He is quite aware what kind of terrain Frodo is leading them into but goes anyway.
ArPharazon-V: Anything they thought was bad here would be much, much worse, over there.
ArPharazon-V: Except that they weren't seeing Black Riders in the forest :)
AriehnV: landing instead where?
AriehnV: ;-)
VardaValar1: Then they were taking a short rest, even singing a bit under an elm, when they heard Black Riders.
VardaValar1: Signaling.
VardaValar1: It made them afraid to go into open country to reach the ferry
AriehnV: yes but singing chased the signaling black Riders away
VardaValar1: Elvish did but not Hobbit singing.
AriehnV: yup
VardaValar1: Their singing showed where they were.
VardaValar1: So the hobbits decided to be sure to cross the open area in daylight.
ArPharazon-V: Every time they got a bit relaxed, some sign of the Riders would scare them off again.
VardaValar1: The area became settled, farmland, and Frodo recognized Bamfurlong. (It's in LotRO too, if you want to go there.)
VardaValar1: Pippin is amazed at how worried Frodo is about Farmer Maggot, whom he likes.
ArPharazon-V: Can you actually just.. follow the route described in the book, see the same roads and ridges? :)
AriehnV: Pretty muchy aye
VardaValar1: They did a good job.
AriehnV: thats why i can drawback on LotrO for the rp :-)
AriehnV: at least where landscape is concerned
VardaValar1: Frodo had been a trespasser a number of times on the farmer's land, going after mushrooms. The last time he got a beating and was shown to the dogs as someone to chase if they saw him again. He'd avoided the place ever since.
VardaValar1: The dogs had chased him all the way to the ferry.
AriehnV: Merry again breaks that impasse
VardaValar1: Pippin finds this funny and says they should make up. They go down the lane so it's obvious they aren't trespassing.
AriehnV: and makes them know to Farmer Maggot and his family
VardaValar1: At first the farmer is very nervous and brings out his dogs, surprising Pippin, but Pippin defuses the situation.
AriehnV: Pippin aye
AriehnV: my bad
VardaValar1: Merry is not with them yet, aye.
VardaValar1: The farmer had been frightened earlier by a Black Rider and was still jumpy, and told them the story.
ArPharazon-V: Interesting how Pippin seems the responsible one, but loses that role whenever Merry is around. It's on his own that he shines.
VardaValar1: Agreed.
ArPharazon-V: Or perhaps it could just be his familiarity with the current area.
VardaValar1: Home turf advantage? : )
ArPharazon-V: Aye.
VardaValar1: The rider knew the name of Baggins and was asking about him.
VardaValar1: Fortunately Farmer Maggot thought the Bagginses were in the Shire and misinformed him.
ArPharazon-V: There's a scene in the movie that reminisces that moment, before Frodo leaves Bag End; where a hobbit with dogs is approached by a Rider and informs him that he needs to go to Hobbiton to find Baggins.
VardaValar1: Aye, and we readers knew who he was. :-)
ArPharazon-V: Indeed, though a bit more fearful than in the book :)
VardaValar1: The farmer says, as you mentioned, that Frodo should not have gotten mixed up with those Hobbiton people, annoying Sam who stays quiet.
VardaValar1: but he keeps going. He says someone may want to know about the gold and jewels Bilbo brought back. Makes Frodo nervous.
VardaValar1: The farmer can see the connection.
AriehnV: pretty shrewd fellow, Farmor Maggot , aye
VardaValar1: Aye
karakedi25: There's a lot more to Farmer Maggot than meets the eye.
VardaValar1: The farmer feeds them and packs food for them, then takes them hidden in his cart to the Ferry.
VardaValar1: At the entrance they are frightened in the dark and mist by a rider.
VardaValar1: It's Merry.
VardaValar1: The farmer leaves them in Merry's hands near the Ferry and they check the meal. It's mushrooms.
AriehnV: Frodo sniffs and laughs :-)
VardaValar1: All is ok between Farmer Maggot and Frodo, as stated by that basket. :-)
VardaValar1: End chapter.
ArPharazon-V: Better to end up at the Ferry with a basket of mushrooms than with a bunch of dogs chasing after you :)
AriehnV: *applauds*]
VardaValar1: *passes mushrooms around for munchies*
AriehnV: *steels the whole basket*]
VardaValar1: *peacefully taps a rock with the gavel whilst munching a fried mushroom*
top

VardaValar1: After-meeting
ArPharazon-V: Fried mushroom, even?
VardaValar1: *basket floats into the air*
AriehnV: *tries to jump and catch the basket*
VardaValar1: From Galdor:
VardaValar1: galdorandwe: Not sure how long I can stay right now with dinner about to be served, but I did want to add this tidbit about Tom Maggot...he was suspicious of anyone who wasn't from his part pf the Shire. He made one comment that Frodo would be better off if he didn't hang around Hobbiton-folk...or somehting like that. I think that might have been indicative of feelings all over provincial parts at that time (and others)..which may explain why folks were on edge. I wonder what part Sauron's powers were having on people as far away as the shire (or saruman's for that matter) ...effecting their mistrust of others.
ArPharazon-V: Rural folk are known for sticking to their own, I think, whether there's a Sauron or not :)
VardaValar1: That calling of anything dark of heart to Sauron was going on. It surely stirred up feelings.
ArPharazon-V: He was of course on edge because of the most recent visitor.
VardaValar1: Aye, we call it provincialism in the rural areas and cliques in the urban areas. Same idea.
VardaValar1: Agreed. He was protective of his territory after a Black Rider had trespassed on it and scared him.
ArPharazon-V: And of course rumors of strange events would have reached him too. They also reached Hobbiton and Bywater, after all.
VardaValar1: Right.

AriehnV: by the way .. of topic ... are we starting the chatroom marathon tonight?
EonweValar: it's not for another month :}
VardaValar1: The marathon usually starts the weekend ahead and goes through the meeting of the ending weekend.
ArPharazon-V: Ambitious, Arien? Month-long marathon? :)
AriehnV: och right :-) then i ve got another month for the story to finish off ,  hooray :-D
VardaValar1: You have some writing time yet, aye, don't panic. : )
VardaValar1: We usually go to all the major cities in-game and shoot off fireworks, in case anyone wants to stockpile a few for that. : )
VardaValar1: We do that in both WoW and LotRO, and any other game that likes to do it.
galdorandwe: I shot the bunch you gave me in front of Bree for the last event, Varda
VardaValar1: We often add our own spell effects too.
galdorandwe: what class makes them?
EonweValar: For WoW, I'm strongly considering adding Gilneas to the list this year, even if it's not officially a captial city. The architecture there is just too good to not see.
galdorandwe: or should I say profession
karakedi25: I don't think they can be crafted
EonweValar: In WoW, Engineers make them.
VardaValar1: Gilneas in WoW would be good. They can be crafted in WoW.
AriehnV: the woodworkers make launchers i think
AriehnV: the plans were during the festival if i noticed correct
VardaValar1: Be sure to pick up fireworks during festivals, too.
AriehnV: i think both the wee champion and one of the other characters might still have the festival ones if i didnt sell them
ArPharazon-V: Lunar festival in WoW is also known for its fireworks, but that's in February I think :) Though you might as well stock up on them.
galdorandwe: where can I get them?
VardaValar1: Another festival is always coming up in LotRO, so that's a good time to pick some up. And I have some stashed to pass around.
galdorandwe: I have an SMK woodworker...I'll make some if that's the case
galdorandwe: Never saw the recipe
ArPharazon-V: Are there fireworks that create dragons in LotrO?
VardaValar1: I have one that makes a huge tree.
VardaValar1: I don't remember the recipe in LotRO either. We can check online.
EonweValar (Eonwe Valar) has left the room.
EonweValar (Eonwe Valar) has entered the room.
VardaValar1: I'm not seeing any recipes listed for LotRO fireworks online. Maybe you guys can have better luck.

AriehnV: Irmo just has recruited a new member into the guild :-)
AriehnV: Menarus who will be known as Cirdan
VardaValar1: Fantabulous!
VardaValar1: We needed a new Cirdan. : )
ArPharazon-V: Oh, neato. I like Cirdan.
EonweValar: Hail and Welcome to our new Member Cirdan :}
ArPharazon-V: Welcome, Cirdan!

EonweValar: OK, didn't quite get as much of the GSMU stuff dealt with as I'd hoped before the WoW guild run, but I'll work more on it tonight afterward, so be sure to check your gaming info during the week.
VardaValar1: Thank you for your hard work, Eonwe. :-)
EonweValar: It's my pleasure :}

AriehnV: Right then , Meren is fairly sure that they cant be crafted and i think there might have been desire the father of my thought ^^
AriehnV: they are definitely sold by festival vendors
AriehnV: i have to go now since i start early tomorrow :-\ or earlyish
AriehnV: so Namarie all :-)
VardaValar1: Namarie Arien!
EonweValar: Sleep well Arien :}
AriehnV: Namarie :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has left the room.
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.
ArPharazon-V: Sorry, crashed.
ArPharazon-V: That's what you get with explorer, skype, aim and Starcraft II open... during warm weather.
VardaValar1: oops
ArPharazon-V: I saved a bit earlier, but I missed a whole lot, which you'll need to provide, Varda.
VardaValar1: Ok, thanks for the heads-up!
galdorandwe has left the room.
VardaValar1: copied to Notepad
ArPharazonV: Good.
ArPharazonV: Looking forward to reading it.
ArPharazonV: kept explorer off now, going to try gaming again :-)
ArPharazonV: And this week I really need to remove the pc from its setting and clean it out. Must be dust all over the thing.
VardaValar1 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Varda fell out of AIM.
ArPharazonV: Then it could be up to you to keep a transcript.
Eonwe Valar: I'll send her a copy, no worries.
fladrifv has left the room.
karakedi25 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript, or what I have of it
