VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: Nov. 10 was the wedding anniversary of Miriel and Irmo. :-)
galdorandwe: wonderful.
VardaValar1: I don't know which anniversary, but they seem very happy. :-)
ArPharazonV: Well, that's good, then, at least.
VardaValar1: It was also my 58th birthday, caught up to Fangorn. :-)
ArPharazonV: congrats!
VardaValar1: Thanks :-)
VardaValar1: Any other membership news? Galdor is about to have some yummy chili. :-)
galdorandwe: Happy Birthday....oh wait..I did that on Facebook :-) Happy Birthday again :-)
karakedi25 has left the room.
VardaValar1: Thanky :-)
AriehnV: Habby birthday :-D
karakedi25 has left the room.
VardaValar1: Indis is coming in, will be on the phone on a side window during lunch most of the later time.
VardaValar1: She
VardaValar1: s having trouble entering.
karakedi25 has left the room.
VardaValar1: She's restarting.
ArPharazonV: Looks like it, she has those same error leaving messages as Fladrif did last time.
VardaValar1: ugh, does not bode well. At least the side window works.
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has left the room.
VardaValar1: Trying to invite Indis. Phar, any suggestions?
ArPharazonV: Sounds like trouble a-brewing.
ArPharazonV: And no, no idea. If restarting AIM doesn't work, no.
ArPharazonV: She's probably still in some invite-list somewhere, that tends to bug things a bit.
VardaValar1: Likely.
VardaValar1: Any further membership news?
ArPharazonV: BRB a few minutes, I've got gaming news if you get there fast.
VardaValar1: ok
top

VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: Nothing new, as I've not been home much this week.
top

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Phar, we're there fast if you want to go ahead. :-)
AriehnV: hehe he said brb
AriehnV: guess he is afk
VardaValar1: I got it backwards. :-)
VardaValar1: Any non-WoW, non-LotRO gaming this past week?
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
galdorandwe: I played Candyland with my 4 yr old daughter a bunch :-)
VardaValar1: Fangorn, Sauron and I played BroodWar, much fun was had.
VardaValar1: Aww, I remember that as a board game. Is it online now?
galdorandwe: No...just the old school board game...however, there is a princess involved so it almost counts as fantasy gaming :-)
VardaValar1: Perfect! ^^
VardaValar1: Aiya Eonwe :-)
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
galdorandwe: Aiya Eonwe
AriehnV: aiya Eonwe
VardaValar1: Eonwe, did you have news before we switched to WoW and LotRO?
VardaValar1: er, *switch
Eonwe Valar: Starcraft 2 Patch 1.4.2 is out.
VardaValar1: That's news! Thanks. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Other than that, no.

VardaValar1: Eonwe, would you like to do the WoW news? Since you just got here, fun dropping it all on you!
ArPharazonV: Back
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, ok.
Eonwe Valar: Sunday Run:
ArPharazonV: Will come to my non-lotro, non-wow news after Eonwe's done
VardaValar1: Welcome back, Phar. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Attending: Arien, Eonwë, Varda, Eowyn, BIlbo, Elwing, Sauron
Eonwe Valar: Arien, Eonwë, Varda, Eowyn, Bilbo, and Elwing went after Molten Core for the rep.
Eonwe Valar: Afterwards Sauron came in and we went after Obsidian Sanctum. Sauron got the black drake mount.
VardaValar1: yay - appropriate :-)
Eonwe Valar: At this point, Arien had to call it a night, but the rest of us gave Icecrown Citadel a try, and got through the first two bosses before Sauron had to call it a night.
Eonwe Valar: Tonight, we're hoping to pick up ICC at the Gunship.
VardaValar1: Works early in the morning.
Eonwe Valar: Friday Run:
Eonwe Valar: Unfortunately, I missed the Friday run, so I have nothing to report.
VardaValar1: We did show up for it, but mostly chatted and messed around questing.
VardaValar1: We had fun though. Always better with you there, of course. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, thanks :}
Eonwe Valar: Thus concludes my report.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Eonwe. : )

VardaValar1: Phar, go ahead!
ArPharazonV: Allright, well, the timing of my afk, resulting in having to announce having news early, probably made my report seem waaaay more important than it actually is.
VardaValar1: Hearing someone else's voice is always a delight. Makes it feel like a meeting!
ArPharazonV: But still, you are aware that I'm doing flashgames on different sites for a while now, and this week I found and played a series that I just want to share, because I enjoyed it.
VardaValar1: Best reason.
VardaValar1: Digging up an url? : )
ArPharazonV: It is a series called "Robot Wants", originally from Max Games, simple platform games where you play a robot who has to collect from some planet you landed on, what he wants :-)
ArPharazonV: Simple, rather cute concept, but it involves a lot of shooting enemies, obtaining upgrade-blocks, and just generally improving and unlocking parts of the map until you can finally reach your goal, which is usually already visible from your starting location, but you can't get to yet until you do everything else.
ArPharazonV: Bunch of achievements associated with it, but the most fun is just in running around exploring things, blowing stuff up, and slowly improving what the robot can do and where he can get to, and the later games get more and more of these upgrade thingies and mazes to figure out where to go next.
ArPharazonV: You can't actually *lose* the game, whenever you die you just end up at the last checkpoint you visited and get a bit of time added to your playtime, so if you really want a challenge you'll just have to settle for a low playtime :-)
ArPharazonV: This makes it rather casual, but fun, especially for a completionist like me.
VardaValar1: hehe
ArPharazonV: *now* I'll dig up the url.
VardaValar1: Got us interested first. Smart. ;-)
ArPharazonV: Found it on several other sites, but just for the sake of its original source, I'll get the one from the Max Games site.
ArPharazonV: There are 4 games, and while I could link all of them seperately, I'll just give the http://www.maxgames.com/search.html url, tell you to fill in "robot wants", and that'll give you all 4 links at the same time, in order, even
ArPharazonV: Allright, that's it for me!
VardaValar1: Nice. I have the urge to try it. : )
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar. :-)

VardaValar1: LotRO reports:
VardaValar1: Monday we ran the Culling Pit, since three members needed it.
VardaValar1: Dis-(V) came in to help us out with her minstrel from her husband's kin, so we had a full group of Valarites.
VardaValar1: Dis, Galdor, Gildor, Melkor, Nimrodel, and Varda.
VardaValar1: Wednesday I was not present.
VardaValar1: However,
VardaValar1: Pippin had set up The Lost Temple. Galdor showed up for it, but they did not have enough Valarites interested to run it.
VardaValar1: The Saturday raid was very well attended, and my hunter went on standby for the first raid.
VardaValar1: We did 12-man skirmish raids for Amon Sul, Tuckborough, and Breaching the Necromancer's Gate.
VardaValar1: After that we had some three-mans going.
VardaValar1: Hurin, Cirdan, and Celeborn did a 3-man skirmis of The Rift of Nurz Ghashu.
VardaValar1: The 3-man Library and School quests are often done as a set if time permits. Two groups did exactly that:
VardaValar1: Irmo, Indis, and Varda were one group and later Galdor, Gildor, and Nimrodel formed a second group.
VardaValar1: Oh, in the first two raids we had a Worn Symbol of Celebrimbor drop each time, a record for us. :-)
VardaValar1: This morning, the Melkorrim plus Gwindor ran together. I saw them while they were doing a 6-man Tuckborough skirmish.
VardaValar1: Thus ends my report.
VardaValar1: Any other gaming news?
VardaValar1: LotRO or other. : )
galdorandwe: That's a really thorough summary, Varda :-)
VardaValar1: Thank you, Galdor. Hope it wasn't over-thorough. You may all wake up now. : )
VardaValar1: Much daily fun goes on as well. We have a lot of people coming in.
VardaValar1: Only the scheduled stuff is being reported here.
VardaValar1: We don't usually have the Sunday morning report, but you got it this time!
galdorandwe: I have one bit of news.
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Fire away!
VardaValar1: Aiya Menel
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Go ahead, Galdor.
galdorandwe: I managed to get 7 Zeal Points from deeding alone today...I think that's a record for me :-)
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
AriehnV: Burglar nearly caught up with Hunter .. 42 now
VardaValar1: That's really huge.
galdorandwe: Nice
ArPharazonV: grats :-)
VardaValar1: Grats Arien
AriehnV: and she is stationed in Angmar now as well , dont like the area ^^ but aye guess have to go through
AriehnV: tinkering .. jewelling Master
AriehnV: so but thats it for me :-) i am usually there a few hours on my day off hehe
VardaValar1: Angmar is not *supposed* to be pleasant. :-) But it might give ideas for the rp.
AriehnV: oh aye and been messing around with some of my lower characters especially the captain
AriehnV: yo true varda
VardaValar1: Any further business, comments, compliments, got-to-be-kiddings, etc?
VardaValar1: Galdor is now afk for dinner. *swipes Galdor's chili*
top

VardaValar1: If not, on to Tolkien!
VardaValar1: First order of business, we have an rp about to switch to the new section and we have Menel here since his game ended early. :-)
VardaValar1: We are trying to come up with a title, and maybe a general idea of how we want to do the plot.
VardaValar1: We know we are arriving in Rivendell with the odd sword, bad news for using this route for the Fellowship,
VardaValar1: that we need research and advice to handle this rather ghostly possession sorcery and the group grown up around it.
VardaValar1: We mostly all feel the need to take care of it before it hits our homes.
VardaValar1: How we keep from being possessed ourselves is one thing we should try to learn at Rivendell.
VardaValar1: Any comments?
Menelvagor Valar: Sounds great,\
Menelvagor Valar: without ,\ :-P
VardaValar1: It's a leaning staff!
VardaValar1: O right. We are also needing to learn about the evil staff mentioned earlier.
ArPharazonV: Pretty much that, yeah. Do we want to have research on Angmar? Know what to expect? Ask the.. ehrm.. npcs for advice?
VardaValar1: We do need something to protect us from possession or it could be over pretty fast.
VardaValar1: We should interact some with the Fellowship or the readers will feel cheated. Nothing that goes off-book of course.
VardaValar1: We need to watch our pacing and not stay too long in Rivendell.
VardaValar1: The journey needs to be told of, but not be too much of the writing.
VardaValar1: The main thing should be the adventure at the ruins.
VardaValar1: So we need to think of lots of juicy conniptions to happen there, maybe set some up ahead of time like with the sword, staff, possession stoppers.
Menelvagor Valar: That basically means that my interaction with the fellowship would be limited to none.
VardaValar1: You could at least meet them. Maybe Fainan can drag you in to meet the prince and tell your part of the report.
Menelvagor Valar: I suppose that would work :-)
VardaValar1: Fainan still assumes he's headed home afterwards and needs to be made aware of what's happening since he left.
VardaValar1: *drag*
ArPharazonV: "Hey, Legolas, did you see that dwarf we passed in the hallway? Pah, who trusts a dwarf, eh!" *points back at Gimli*
VardaValar1: Wouldn't your character be curious to explore this strange place?
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Gloin's there too. :-)
fladrifv has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Another dwarf in Rivendell, what is the world coming to?
ArPharazonV: Aiya Flad
VardaValar1: "So, Mirkwood elves, eh? Locked up anyone else lately?"
VardaValar1: Aiya Fladrif! You made it!
fladrifv: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: We shouldn't feel a need to interact directly with *all* of the fellowship, however, just who it would make sense that we might actually talk to.
fladrifv: in more then one way, got internet again :-)
VardaValar1: Indis seems to have the problem you had last time.
VardaValar1: Sure, just a few, or see them as we pass in the halls. Frali would surely be interested that he's not the only dwarf present.
ArPharazonV: *lifts Frodo off the ground by his jacket, keeping him at eye-height* Soooo.. this is a halfling?
Eonwe Valar: Otherwise a "What was that short thing with the hairy feet running to the dinner bell?" might be enough for some of us, heh.
VardaValar1: Huzzah, Flad!
VardaValar1: Right, Eonwe. hehehe
VardaValar1: We do have a young dwarf with us so we might lose out on some of the comments we can make. : )
VardaValar1: But hobbits might be very new to most of us.
VardaValar1: Like you said. : )
Menelvagor Valar: I think I might have some interactions with Bilbo on my own accord though.
Menelvagor Valar: Estarion would love to get more information on the Elves since the parting, and what better place than the hall where much of the history is sung?
Eonwe Valar: As long as you can make it work, that's fine. I just don't want anyone to feel they have to make the obligatory "Fellowship rounds."
VardaValar1: Elrond is practically a walking history.
fladrifv has left the room.
VardaValar1: uh oh
ArPharazonV: Some of us might actually be already familiar with Bilbo, after what happened at the Battle of Five Armies. Though of course not on a first-name basis.
fladrifv has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Welcome back
AriehnV: Hmm Gloin: " Hallo Frali, lad, what are you doing here? Run off again for wild goose hunts? .. oh and if you head into angmar dont make me send my Gimli after you again to save you"
VardaValar1: That could work. Gimli is a younger dwarf than Gloin. : )
VardaValar1: Mainly we need to keep it to something like cameos.
AriehnV: Dont forget they are family around thousand corners on the mother side ^^
AriehnV: and Frali was more or less fostered by Gloin
VardaValar1: So, one chapter with Riv. Rest, re-stock, saying who is going and why, and what they plan to do. Actually doing a plan usually falls apart at first meeting. : )
Eonwe Valar: Auros probably won't spend much time interacting with the Fellowship at all.
VardaValar1: No Noldor in that lot of ragamuffins.
VardaValar1: Legolas would just be to report to, as a boss, for Fainan.
VardaValar1: That should be short.
Eonwe Valar: That sounds like a reasonable cameo for Legolas.
VardaValar1: Any suggestions for what crazy twists could happen in the ruins?
Menelvagor Valar: Auros would most definitely report to Elrond though.
VardaValar1: How about what could happen at all? :-)
VardaValar1: Aye
Eonwe Valar: Aye, Auros would report to Elrond, of course :} I just can't think of any good reason he would put much focus on any members of the Fellowship.
VardaValar1: Whatever happens in Riv needs to have some lead-in to the ruins part of the story if possible. Adding characterization as we go.
Menelvagor Valar: Quite frankly, I have no idea what could happen in the ruins... anything could happen really.
Eonwe Valar: I still think it would be somewhat amusing for Calion and Auros to argue about who should be in charge of the group, and Fainan ending up as the lead as a result :}
VardaValar1: That can happen. O, there's an opening between baddies, let's make for that?
Menelvagor Valar: I can almost see Fainan's reaction of total shock to that :-D
VardaValar1: It would be more by doing, not trying to take the lead. She'd be happy to let someone else lead in this lot of higher level folk.
VardaValar1: but scouts are expected to go out front and take a look.
VardaValar1: Frali winds up leading. ;-)
VardaValar1: More knowledge of stonework in the ruins.
VardaValar1: If we have nothing further to add tonight...?
VardaValar1: *hefts gavel*
VardaValar1: *clonk*
VardaValar1: hmm, kind of thuddy there.
top

VardaValar1: After-meeting!
Menelvagor Valar: I would say it's more clonky rather than thuddy :-D
Eonwe Valar: Just thinking about exactly how we would end up with Fainan as lead :} My original intention was that Auros would suggest it thanks to a sign of some sort, but I've long since regretted including the connected part of Auros' story and don't think I want to use it at this point.
VardaValar1: You have a point.
VardaValar1: I was talking to Menel.
Eonwe Valar: I figured you were :}
VardaValar1: The actual thing that might happen is whomever at the time has the best handle on the situation winds up getting the group through.
Menelvagor Valar: You still have a point though :-D
VardaValar1: We could work it so each character has such a moment.
VardaValar1: It could just be funny when Fainain's moment comes while Auros and he are arguing.
VardaValar1: Their attention is diverted just then and she sees something and the group joins her in reacting to it.
VardaValar1: There's a saying that "acting" is really "re-acting".
Eonwe Valar: Every character can have a "shining moment of awesome" or whatever you want to call it, but an expedition like this needs a leader of some sort to keep order.
VardaValar1: We have a goal, we react against obstacles.
VardaValar1: Auros is just naturally a leader.
VardaValar1: Fainan can get ahead and to the side scouting.
Eonwe Valar: It would make sense to me that Calion, were Auros not going (as might be assumed at the beginning of the new arc) would by social position naturally assume the leadership of the expedition.
VardaValar1: Oh, "Scout Ahead". ;-)
VardaValar1: So Calion expects to be leading the expedition, then as we start to leave, finds Auros is.
VardaValar1: Elrond might do that.
VardaValar1: Otherwise it might be tough.
Eonwe Valar: If Auros is going, however, his natural inclination will be to assume leadership. Given their already tense relationship, I see that as a point of continued contention for the two.
ArPharazonV: Are we sure from the start, as characters, that Auros is coming with us?
ArPharazonV: If Calion assumes leadership expecting that Auros is not joining us, and then at the last moment he does...
VardaValar1: Right. We may think it's just an expedition to protect Mirkwood. No reason to expect Auros.
Eonwe Valar: I will say that at this point, Auros doesn't know he's going. His mission's done, and he was going to go back to whatever he does when he's not carrying out some mission or guarding the borders of Rivendell.
ArPharazonV: Harass the womenfolk of Rivendell with smooth pickup lines?
ArPharazonV: A man's gotta have a hobby ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, you may find the answer to that in a side story if I get it to final-final status before we start.
Eonwe Valar: That story will be found on the Stories page when it's ready :}
VardaValar1: The only way it would work is if Elrond comes to the group and says Auros will be leading it, as he has special knowledge. Maybe having to do with the mysterious story.
VardaValar1: But what it would be that Meren wouldn't have just as well, I really don't know.
Eonwe Valar: That would cement Auros as leader though.
Eonwe Valar: If Elrond Peredhil walks in with a guy and says "Hey, I brought you guys a leader for your group," you tend to take his "advice" :}
ArPharazonV: But grumble a bit behind his back ;-)
VardaValar1: It would really be great for sticking in Calion's craw.
VardaValar1: The rest of us just do our thing, no matter who's leading. ;-)
fladrifv has left the room.
fladrifv has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: The point of choosing Fainan (besides that this started out long ago as sort of an RP entry into MEO and thus was intended to reflect that) is that she is an Mirkwood Elf (directly involved with the primary mission) and she has some experience, if only along the borders of Mirkwood.
Eonwe Valar: Auros and Calion can each have their own motives for choosing her (example only: Auros could want to rub Calion's nose in it, Calion might think it's easier to get his way with a non-noble Mirkwood Elf) but for whatever reason they'd tacitly agree.
VardaValar1: Ah ok.
VardaValar1: It happened a bit during the run through Mirkwood too.
Eonwe Valar: Er, not tacitly, begrudging might be a slightly better term. They agree to it but don't necessarily like it.
VardaValar1: Or it just sort of happens
ArPharazonV: If we're going to keep this conflict up it's going to be quite hard for me to stay in character. I've kinda grown tired of character conflict in the last few years, and unless I make really sure not to, I'll probably end up giving in to everything.
Eonwe Valar: It doesn't help that more time has gone by for us than our characters, heh.
ArPharazonV: Indeed it does not :-)
VardaValar1: Phar, it could show that Calion is growing, as he learns to pick his fights.
Menelvagor Valar: Quite a bit more time :-D
VardaValar1: He learns not to fight over every little thing.
VardaValar1: Aye on the time.
ArPharazonV: Well, I'll think about it.
Menelvagor Valar: The RP has lasted for what... 7 years now I think... our characters have passed several months I think.
ArPharazonV: months? try weeks
VardaValar1: Show Calion growing, and that could make him become an actual leader.
Eonwe Valar: A couple of months.at most. It's should be what, roughly mid-December now?
ArPharazonV: How much time passed between the sending out of the scouts and their return?
Eonwe Valar: The went out end of October/Early November.
Eonwe Valar: So Auros has been out roughly a month and a half.
Eonwe Valar: For our characters, the disagreement is still relatively fresh, not enough time to dull the memory of it. For us, alot of stuff we may have started out on sounded better when we started than now :}
ArPharazonV: Sounds about right. Maybe.
Eonwe Valar: We did a better workup of time in the discussion thread a couple of years back (heh).
VardaValar1: Maybe something happens in Rivendell that helps Calion see things in a new light?
ArPharazonV: I'm sure Calion just has other things on his mind now. He's just eager to get out there and find/save his brother, if possible. Under whose command they go is of less importance.
ArPharazonV: The first mission was just business, politics, he was not in a hurry, nor did he have much to worry about in the direct future of the mission, so he found himself at odds with other characters more.
ArPharazonV: Now, his mind is a bit.. distracted.
Eonwe Valar: I don't know. Given Auros' last reaction to Calaron, Calion may at least want to be sure Auros isn't leading.
ArPharazonV: That's true. Calion will want some influence about how some things in the mission might go.
ArPharazonV: But that might be less of a point of conflict about who's going to lead from Rivendell on, and more a point of conflict that comes up as we are already travelling, and discussing what we might do if/when we find him.
ArPharazonV: But if we want to plan all those little details directly in Rivendell, it will come up there.
VardaValar1: Calion might be more concerned that the new direction of the mission might lead to his brother's demise rather than being saved?
VardaValar1: The cure might look...drastic.
Eonwe Valar: For those who may have also forgotten what exactly the problem is between Calion and Auros, it's from way back i nthe first chapter.
VardaValar1: *raises hand* I don't remember exactly.
Eonwe Valar: The group was attacked by a pack of wolves, Auros told Calion to kill one, Calion turns it into a pet.
VardaValar1: Well, it stopped attacking. ;-)
ArPharazonV: Right, Calion found Auros a bit too "take no prisoners" when it comes to the noble beasts of Mirkwood, if I recall...
Eonwe Valar: It was a corrupted wolf following some sort of corrupted alpha wolf.
ArPharazonV: too bittered by past conflict to respect nature today?
VardaValar1: Possibly contagious corruption (like LotRO).
Eonwe Valar: Auros couldn't take chance that this wolf would be a danger to his mission along the road. Calion ignored his order.
AriehnV: look look wow us is downloading data for the next update so .. when is the patch coming out?
Eonwe Valar: Auros doesn't go around randomly killing the creatures living around RIvendell :}
ArPharazonV: Hmm yes. Calion did not accept Auros' complete authority in a region he was less familiar with, something like that... difference in preference of policy... that, and he doesn't like stuck-up Noldor
Menelvagor Valar: Peops, I am headed towards bed, have a great evening / night :-)
ArPharazonV: And the background downloader has been going for about a week now, Arien.
Eonwe Valar: 4.3 of WoW shouldn't be out till end of November/beginning of December at the earliest.
ArPharazonV: Namarie, Menel
Menelvagor Valar: Namarie!
Menelvagor Valar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well Menel.
ArPharazonV: The arena season ends the 15th, I think, the patch can't be far behind.
VardaValar1: Night Menel!
ArPharazonV: I'm expecting it somewhere in November still, maybe 10 days or so
Eonwe Valar: 29th.
ArPharazonV: what, the arena season?
Eonwe Valar: Pvp Season ends the 29th.
ArPharazonV: Weird. Then what was that about the 15th?
Eonwe Valar: I'm told it was pushed back.
ArPharazonV: Oh, haven't heard that then
Eonwe Valar: But I don't recall catching the earlier announcement, though I honestly don't pay *close* attention to the PvP stuff.
ArPharazonV: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/blog/3287471/PvP_Season_10_Ending_Soon_-09_11_2011#blog European site
ArPharazonV: Oh, they did change it.
ArPharazonV: They actually altered the article from 15 to 29.
ArPharazonV: Though the introduction on the main page still says "Arena and Rated Battleground Season 10 is scheduled to end as early as November 15."
Eonwe Valar: As early as, aye.
Eonwe Valar: So yeah, November 29th is probably the earliest we'll see 4.3.
Eonwe Valar: I'd say the latest is the week before Christmas.
Eonwe Valar: But that's only my speculation until we get something more concrete.
Eonwe Valar: But back to the RP: So now everyone hopefully remembers there's a reason behind Auros' contention, and it's only been a month and a half, so it's not like they'll be buddy-buddy at this point :}
ArPharazonV: Looking back on our past, I don't think Calion actually *wants* to lead. He just wants to be able to have some say on matters that concern him.
ArPharazonV: Perhaps he's even more likely to suggest Fainan as a leader.
VardaValar1: Fainan doesn't feel like a leader, but is willing to scout and make suggestions based on what she knows.
Eonwe Valar: Gotta learn Sometime :} Even Sam Gamgee started with his Mr. Frodo :}
VardaValar1: hehe
Eonwe Valar: Really, since I'm leaning towards abandoning the "sign" thing that would bring Auros to suggest Fainan in the first place, I haven't thought of a good reason Auros *would* suggest Fainan. If I can't by the time we get there, Calion might turn out to be the better guy to suggest it.
Eonwe Valar: At least by what you've just said.
AriehnV: Right then , i ll call it a night as well folks
VardaValar1: Aye, nighty night :-)
VardaValar1: On to WoW
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1: Rest well :-)
AriehnV: a decent night time for once on a sunday hehe
VardaValar1: What a thing! ;-)
AriehnV: :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heh, missed her both in WoW and in the meeting.
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well belatedly :}
VardaValar1: Transcripts are handy. She can see it there. : )
ArPharazonV: One thing to remember; most of us are on a Mirkwood mission now. While we accept that Auros may have more knowledge/experience concerning Angmar, especially when advised so by Elrond;
VardaValar1: good point. We know nothing of the Angmar area but Auros seems to have been there before.
ArPharazonV: you do not actually hold as much authority over us on this particular mission as you did in Mirkwood, and even there I grudgingly accepted you as the leader.
ArPharazonV: Or.. replace I/you with Calion/Auros.
Eonwe Valar: Auros doesn't have such an easy claim to it, aye.
Eonwe Valar: In Mirkwood and beyond, it was *his* mission, aye.
ArPharazonV: If anything, the Mirkwood elves have authority here *by default*, and Auros will never be able to establish himself as a leader who tolerates no different opinion.
VardaValar1: Maybe Auros will have a chance to grow too. : )
ArPharazonV: So we will find ourselves, during our journey, sitting around the fireplace discussing our next plans and policies, more often.
VardaValar1: No reflection on the rl folk whom I think are the cat's meow. : )
Eonwe Valar: When Auros deems he has to go, he'll go alone if he has to.
VardaValar1: better if we holler our opinions over the action? : )
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, aye, I like to stress every now and then that we should remember where the character stops and the person starts :} Nothing we're doing in-character should be done to insult the people writing said character.
ArPharazonV: If anything, we'll decide our actions more by vote than by authority, unless we both defer (that the right word?) to Fainan
VardaValar1: Fainan holds with the at least two together. Did not approve of Legolas traveling alone, but who listens to a scout? :-)
ArPharazonV: Of course, we won't do much of that "voting" during actual combat. We'll probably just follow whoever shouts out the best battle plan at the time.
VardaValar1: Shoot that one? sure, ok. *zing*
ArPharazonV: Something like that. Also things like "Cover me!", "retreat behind that pillar!" etc
VardaValar1: Aye!
Eonwe Valar: What I'm mostly thinking of for a lead for the group from here is a "Let the Ringbearer decide" kind of thing. When it's obvious we're not in agreement, Fainan would have the final say. I think Fainan would be fine for that, even caught between Auros and Calion, hehe.
VardaValar1: Sure. :-)
ArPharazonV: As long as she doesn't decide we kill my brother on sight, I'm fine with that ;-)
VardaValar1: *whispers, Hey Gandalf, which way?*
VardaValar1: He's a fellow Mirkwood elf, and Fainan's one of those who grew up on tales of evil kinslaying. Doesn't really connect it to Auros, but more as tales.
Eonwe Valar: Possession is a rough subject in the first place, really.
Eonwe Valar: *in Tolkien
VardaValar1: Aye, and any story. Quite scary.
VardaValar1: The barrow-wights possessed corpses.
VardaValar1: Houseless Ones looked for new homes.
VardaValar1: So an elf would not fear the shades of Men, but Houseless Ones, elves, that they might be concerned about.
Eonwe Valar: Elves in general are supposed to be in better control/better bound of their bodies than to be susceptible to possession.
VardaValar1: Agreed.
VardaValar1: If over-tired, stressed, injured, they might at least feel icy fingers.
Eonwe Valar: I don't remember exactly where the line Calaron's situation was walking was, but I recall it was close.
ArPharazonV: Well, if I recall, this was more than a houseless one or wight, but a rather trained minion of Sauron, maybe even a lesser Maia, and with the use of a lesser Ring of Power?
Eonwe Valar: That's probably the thin line that was walked, aye. It would have to be someone who could at least theoretically contest an Elf's will concerning his own body.
ArPharazonV: Indeed.
VardaValar1: We can be sure it's a trained minion.
VardaValar1: Maybe the elf was knocked unconscious during the battle just long enough?
ArPharazonV: Something like that. And the minion has been working on subduing him ever since, and has no pretty much succeeded.
ArPharazonV: *now
Eonwe Valar: Aye, and Auros isn't going to pull any punches if it comes to it, seeing it as a worse fate to be trapped in one's own body and unable to do anything about it.
VardaValar1: So we are looking at freeing or mercy-killing. That would be an argument.
Eonwe Valar: OK, found the post on the time frames involved.
VardaValar1: okies
Eonwe Valar: http://valarguild.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=MEORP&action=display&thread=462&page=1 6
Eonwe Valar: Reply #235, near the bottom.
Eonwe Valar: We judged Auros going at October 26th, the group coming back December 18th.
Eonwe Valar: So it is December 18th.
ArPharazonV: So we've been busy for nearly 2 months. Does that even work?
ArPharazonV: Sure, there have been lapses, but I don't think we spent half the period in the Misty Mountains, for example.
fladrifv has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: I think we ended up saying we kinda had to go with it.
Eonwe Valar: I think we actually should've wasted an extra week based on our travel projections from the Mirkwood return.
Eonwe Valar: (to make us arrive around December 18th.)
ArPharazonV: "Hey, Auros, do you remember that week we were lost in the Misty Mountains? Who knew a simple pass would be that hard to navigate, eh?"
Eonwe Valar: hehe
VardaValar1: There you go. ;-)
Eonwe Valar: And so they emerged best buddies? :} lol
ArPharazonV: Maybe, a lot can happen in a week ;-)
Eonwe Valar: hehe
VardaValar1: Could happen :-)
VardaValar1: (We are in After-meeting, in case no one noticed and is tired.)
VardaValar1: Elwing just showed up with us in WoW. :-) So we have Auros, Fangorn, Elwing, and Varda
VardaValar1: Then there was that time munching honey cakes with the Beornings, mustn't mention!
ArPharazonV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQSV3_NPIqM
Eonwe Valar: ?
VardaValar1: That one was different and fun. :-)
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar
ArPharazonV: np
ArPharazonV: Just found it.
ArPharazonV: well, saving and sending transcript
