Before-meeting:
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
fladrifv has entered the room.
fladrifv: sc2 is echt gaaf :-)
ArPharazonV: :-) Speak English, this is gonna be part of the transcript ;-)
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
fladrifv: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
GwaihirValar has entered the room.
AriehnV has entered the room.
AriehnV: aiya everyone :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya
GwaihirValar: Hullo
Eonwe Valar: Heya Gwaihir.
Eonwe Valar: Varda is having some trouble getting in. I need to go afk
for a quick sec, but we'll begin immediately when I get back.
Eonwe Valar: ok, back.

Eonwe Valar: Elen sila lumenn omentielvo!
Eonwe Valar: Membership:
Eonwe Valar: You're all here :}
Eonwe Valar: Varda's here in spirit, if not in the channel because of AIM :}
ArPharazonV: invited her, but doesn't seem to be working :-)
Eonwe Valar: I hate it when AIM does this to me, but it hasn't happened to me in a while, fortunately.
Eonwe Valar: Varda's trying the update to see if that helps.
AriehnV: she went offline for the moment but i think she will try again
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
ArPharazonV: she's back
Eonwe Valar: Does anyone have any Membership news?
Eonwe Valar: No Membership News?
top
Eonwe Valar: OK, let's go to Web News:
Eonwe Valar: Games-Site Mass-Update is in full swing.
Eonwe Valar: Everyone should have a letter sitting in their inbix, and hopefully it didn't end up in their junk mail.
Eonwe Valar: Anyone who wants to give me their gaming info in a whisper may now do so, hehe.
ArPharazonV: oh, that works
Eonwe Valar: Make sure you respond by September 30th.
Eonwe Valar: And if my letter ended up in your junk mail, make sure it doesn't any more :}
AriehnV: just a second Eonwe , got no member news tho , but still in vh as daily
Eonwe Valar: hmm?
Eonwe Valar: What am I holding on for?
ArPharazonV: Not sure. Maybe she wants to share gameslist?
Eonwe Valar: She can do that in a whisper so I can save it separate from the meeting :}
Eonwe Valar: In other web news, we have the following from Varda:
Eonwe Valar: Arien's report on Festival in the Shire is up, less the pictures.
Eonwe Valar: You can see a link of it from the News Page.
AriehnV: I am here now :-)
Eonwe Valar: Arien ,go ahead and throw it in here.
Eonwe Valar: I'd probably put it in Membership, so here's a sgood a place.
AriehnV: Ok , following the Festival i want to start a LARP group in Scotland and i made a website
AriehnV: here is the link: http://sites.google.com/site/hollinknights
AriehnV: http://sites.google.com/site/hollinknights
AriehnV: https://sites.google.com/site/hollinknights/
AriehnV: thats it
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Arien.

Eonwe Valar: Gaming:
Eonwe Valar: LotRO:
Eonwe Valar: Report from Varda:
Eonwe Valar: LotRO will be down Sept. 7, Monday, setting up for the
Free to Play. Sept 8 preview starts for those from Beta or with paid
subscriptions. Open to everyone Sept 10.
Eonwe Valar: Don't know if it'll be up in time for our Monday run, but
the run will probably be an attempt to go into the new area, Enedwaith,
from Echad Mirobel.
Eonwe Valar: Last Monday we ran the Fil Gashan instance. Wednesday we ran the Carn Dum instance for a captain's class quest.
Eonwe Valar: I guess I better check my lumber deliveries tonight, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: WoW:
Eonwe Valar: Some members have been pretty busy.
Eonwe Valar: Nob's Warrior has been levellign at a rate of about 3 levels a day minimum.
Eonwe Valar: I've got enough Frost Emblems for my 4th piece of tier 10, I'm just procrastinating on buying it, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Menel apparently has been doing quite well too.
GwaihirValar: The cataclysm beta is beautiful.
Eonwe Valar: Glad to hear you got in :}
Eonwe Valar: Assuming that's what you're referring to :}
GwaihirValar: got in about a week before sc2 came out hehe
GwaihirValar: haven't had much time to actually PLAY it thanks to the timing
Eonwe Valar: hehe.
GwaihirValar: but they have done a startlingly good job on all of the zones I've seen so far.
Eonwe Valar: Well, don't spoil too much for me story-wise :}
GwaihirValar: hehe\
Eonwe Valar: I'm trying to dodge the story stuff so I don't have to see it until it hits.
GwaihirValar: I won't spoil anything, but its good to see that low
level chars are getting every bit of the same love that the high level
stuff is getting
AriehnV: i ve had a look in it too and can confirm Gwaihir's impression
GwaihirValar: and some of the ruins in Vashjir are gorgeous.
GwaihirValar: there were a couple of places in vashjir where I just
stopped and looked around. BEing underwater really amplifies the effect
of some of the zones.
GwaihirValar: subzones*
Eonwe Valar: Cool :}
Eonwe Valar: Moving to Starcraft 2:
Eonwe Valar: Got my third Feat of Strength :}
galdorandwe has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: grats! :-)
galdorandwe: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: No new patches yet, so nothing to worry about there :}
Eonwe Valar: Heya Galdor :}
GwaihirValar: grats :-)
galdorandwe: Grats? what did I miss?
ArPharazonV: unless you got a CE, you can only have 3 feats so far, I think?
Eonwe Valar: We're at the Starcraft 2 portion of gaming.
GwaihirValar: nah there're about 4-5 different feats for accomplishing
different things during various missions of the campaign... I haven't
bothered looking
GwaihirValar: but... they're out there
Eonwe Valar: As far as I can tell, that's 3 feats, including the CE.
galdorandwe: OK...I'll be back when Tolkein chat comes around :-) I'm
60k from lvl 65....awaiting a GS run w/ Gorlim and some friends.
ArPharazonV: let's see.... one in Piercing the Shroud, one in Devil's Playground, one in Welcome to the Jungle...
ArPharazonV: one for the CE and one for tournament qualification which isn't even implemented yet?
Eonwe Valar: I thought you said last week the other two were disabled, Phar?
GwaihirValar: I was pretty sure there was at least one other... but I could be wrong ;-)
galdorandwe has left the room.
ArPharazonV: well if you didn't get the CE that's disabled for you, and the qualification is still "disabled" as well
ArPharazonV: the other 3, are definitely available now
Eonwe Valar: Quick look at the SC2 forum gives me this list:
ArPharazonV: I thought it was 5. Did some research. Might be wrong.
GwaihirValar: I'm diamond in my 2v2 random and 3v3 random on the subject of sc2
Eonwe Valar: Devoted Fan (0) Purchase StarCraft II Wings of Liberty
Collector's Edition. The Scenic Route (0) Destroy all Zerg structures
in "The Devil's Playground" mission on Normal difficulty. You'ze So
Crazy! (0) Destroy all Protoss structures in the "Welcome to the
Jungle" mission on Normal difficulty. Monster Mash (0) Use the A.R.E.S.
to kill the Brutalisk in the "Piercing the Shroud" mission on Normal
difficulty. Hot Shot (0) Finish a Qualification Round with an
undefeated record
ArPharazonV: yep, that's 5
ArPharazonV: all of which I just mentioned :-)
Eonwe Valar: I have the first 3.
ArPharazonV: well, then you have a CE, and can get 4 feats so far :-)
GwaihirValar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, that's odd.
Eonwe Valar: Gwaihir left, but he's typing? :}
ArPharazonV: Personally I've only got the Devil's Playground atm, but working on the Jungle one.
AriehnV: aye he hit wrong button
GwaihirValar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Welcome back :}
GwaihirValar: pushed esc on the wrong window :-)
AriehnV: happens to me all the time :-)
ArPharazonV: I got Devil's Playground just by accident, really, but
finished Jungle without knowing killing Protoss gave a feat. Tried
attacking their base a few times, didn't seem to be getting anywhere,
so I just finished up the mission.
ArPharazonV: Now I know, and I'll be repeating the mission in the archives to get it done :-)
Eonwe Valar: I got the Devils' Playground one not knowing there was
one, and could've sworn I'd wiped out the Protoss completely the first
time through on the other wihout knowing there was one.
GwaihirValar: There was probably one pylon left somewhere lol
Eonwe Valar: Aye, that's how it happens, hehe.
ArPharazonV: Probably. Did you miss the small force in the northeast? or the cannons not far above the center base?
ArPharazonV: well, you got it now, anyway
Eonwe Valar: I don't remember what I missed :}
Eonwe Valar: Anyway, is there any other gaming news before we move to Tolkien?
ArPharazonV: yeah, when I typed that I was actually expecting a "That
exists? No wonder I didn't get it." but then I realized you already got
it a second time
ArPharazonV: hmm, not really... paid off my 12k debt in WoW, so the mammoth's truly mine now ;-)
Eonwe Valar: hehe
GwaihirValar: been working to maintain diamond in my 3v3 mostly... 3v3
random is hard to maintain diamond 'cause you get so many unreliable
allies... and often face premade groups....
Eonwe Valar: Well hopefully the GSMU will see peopel sending in their
SC2 character info so maybe you can try to get with some fellow
Valarties :}
Eonwe Valar: Blame Blizzard for not letting you and Phar get together.
Eonwe Valar: Sounds like you two could do quite well :}
AriehnV: i hate blizzard for seperating us and Europe
ArPharazonV: ...no, just no.. I'm horrible at multiplayer, and far worse in competitive multiplayer.
AriehnV: i really could shoot them somewhere else for that
karakedi25 has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: diamond league? I don't think so. Few achievements may be
nice, and I hope to get a few league-portraits at one point, but I'm
not aiming for anywhere near the top.
Eonwe Valar: Ok, scratch a teamup between the Lord of Eagles and the last king of Numenor :}
karakedi25: aiya
Eonwe Valar: Heya Indis :}
ArPharazonV: maybe you can interest Fladrif though :-)
AriehnV: aiya indis :-)
Eonwe Valar: My PvP interests don't take me far from fighting games, personally :}
GwaihirValar: I'm thoroughly enjoying the competetive game, which is
nice because this is the first time ever in the history of games that
I've cared about ranking ;-)(
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: Last call for any gaming news that isn't LotRO or WoW :}
ArPharazonV: I can't stand competition on principle. I don't like to be
matched up and judged based on comparison with other people, but more
based on my individual performance (like pre-set campaigns).
ArPharazonV: But if you feel differently, feel free to compete :-)
Eonwe Valar: Even competition against other people is essentially
competition against yourself :} You're seeing how far you have come and
how much better you have become.
GwaihirValar: ya I don't look at who ELSE is on my ladder, I just look at my own rank
GwaihirValar: and see that hey, it went up 5!
ArPharazonV: Yes, but if I can cut out the part of me competing against other people, all the better.
ArPharazonV: Yes. But that means you just got 5 less people above you. It's still competition even if it's anonymous.
Eonwe Valar: Eh, life is competition :} But hey, these are pastimes, so we're all free to enjoy them as we wish :}
ArPharazonV: Yes, but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy that, Eonwe ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Just because I prefer ftghting games to what WoW calls PvP doesn't mean other people can't enjoy it :}
Eonwe Valar: *fighting games even
ArPharazonV: I mean, one of my main interests in this world,
career-wise, is the principle and progress of evolution. Competition is
a main part of my area of expertise. But that doesn't mean I want to
take part in it.
ArPharazonV: Anyway, enough tangent.
ArPharazonV: Just give me some cooperation-style instead of pvp and I'm happy ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Suddenly I'm reminded of a certin anime, but aye, if we have no other gaming news, time to move to Tolkien :}
Eonwe Valar: (But you're competing against the computer :})
Eonwe Valar: Whisper Tolkien topics to me :}
ArPharazonV: Hardly. Computer is pre-set, no matter how you look at it.
It's a challenge, an obstacle, but it doesn't improve itself or learn
from you, thereby setting the bar higher the better you get.
karakedi25: have you covered LotRO already?
ArPharazonV: Make it a self-learning AI and it's a different matter I suppose ;-)
GwaihirValar: The cooperation is why I play team games in stead of 1v1 ;-)
ArPharazonV: Aye. I prefer teaming up against AI with friends, for example.
GwaihirValar: but ai is so... predictable :-)
ArPharazonV: Or just anybody. It's why I loved custom games in WarIII
ArPharazonV: Maybe, yes, after a while. But there's new maps, new
tactics, new combos. Just because it's predictable and exploitable
doesn't mean you should exploit it and do everything the same way.
ArPharazonV: And custom games can add so much more.
ArPharazonV: And ultimately I like a bit of predictability in my opponents ;-) not too well at improv myself
Eonwe Valar: Aye Indis, we've covered LotRO.
Eonwe Valar: Let's move to Tolkien, guys :} Doesn't seem we have any
new gamign news, and while discussing gamign philosophy is fun, we
won't get anywhere during the meeting doing so :}
ArPharazonV: Ultimately I don't even mind a bit of pvp. It's just the
ranking and competition and mercilessness of competitive players that
makes me lose interest in pvp.
GwaihirValar: So whats today's tolkien topic?
ArPharazonV: allright, I'm dropping the subject :-)
Eonwe Valar: That would be the question :} Since no one has suggested one, you all are about to get stuck with one of mine :}
Eonwe Valar: Should we spin the Wheel of Destiny? :}
GwaihirValar: as long as its not the wheel of time... sounds good ;-)
ArPharazonV: Don't make me bring up the Animaniacs again!
Eonwe Valar: Yes, let us not spin the Wheel of Time :}
Eonwe Valar: Better to serve in Mordor than to live in the Wheel of Time, to paraphrase a certain phrase, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: OK, bring forth the Wheel of Destiny! :} *Spins the Wheel
of Destiny* Wheel of Destiny, turn turn turn. Tell us the Tolkien that
we should learn. :}
ArPharazonV: *grin* guess I don't have to
ArPharazonV: and slowly the wheel grinds to a stop..
Eonwe Valar: *Wheel of Destiny lands on Balrog Wings. Lose a turn.*
ArPharazonV: hmm, Balrog Wings... getting hungry
Eonwe Valar: *Spins the Wheel of Destiny, and it lands on...*
Eonwe Valar: Tolkien Trivia :}
karakedi25: surprise!
Eonwe Valar: 3 Rounds. Anything from LotRO. :}
Eonwe Valar: Er, LotR.
ArPharazonV: *snicker* as long as we don't keep score? ;-)
Eonwe Valar: LotRO would be cheating, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: hehe :}
Eonwe Valar: Was Galdor coming back on his own, or did he want a warning that we were moving into Tolkien?
Eonwe Valar: See, had he sat in the channel, he would've known we're starting :}
karakedi25: Isn't Varda joining us?
Eonwe Valar: Varda couldn't get in. Aim was giving her trouble.
ArPharazonV: guess someone should tell Galdor :-)
karakedi25: I'm starting up the game now
karakedi25: might see him when I get in
Eonwe Valar: OK, well let's begin the trivia. He can come in on the end of the first round if he makes it.
Eonwe Valar: Who all is joining in the trivia? Say Manwe Sulimo :}
ArPharazonV: Varda Elentari... wait, wrong one
karakedi25: manwe sulimo
ArPharazonV: Manwe Sulimo!
karakedi25: yavanna kementari?
GwaihirValar: I can half join it... I'm a bit distracted ;-)
Eonwe Valar: OK, Indis has declared she's taking up gardening :}
karakedi25: I have two farmers on LotRO :-)
Eonwe Valar: As long as you can geta question or two out, and maybe an answer or two, that's fine, Gwaihir :}
Eonwe Valar: For questions, we're moving in order through the list.
ArPharazonV: Hmm. I guess I should fetch my books.
Eonwe Valar: Hence, Order is (of those who've answered so far): Phar, Gwaihir, Eonwe, Indis.
Eonwe Valar: No books :}
Eonwe Valar: Top of your head is fine :}
ArPharazonV: Yeah, but I mean for the questions.
ArPharazonV: I can't think of anything ;-)
Eonwe Valar: hehe :}
GwaihirValar: ya its been a while since my last reread....
GwaihirValar: lol
GwaihirValar: but we can try haha
karakedi25: I have a real question from LotR that's been bugging me for a while.
Eonwe Valar: Oh?
karakedi25: Pippin et al. spent a couple of months in Rivendell, where Sindarin is used daily, right?
karakedi25: So...
karakedi25: When he got to Minas Tirith, why did he say that the people used Westron and some 'mysterious' other language..
karakedi25: from which he finally figured out that Ernil i Pheriannath meant Prince of the Halflings.
karakedi25: Why didn't he at least recognize that it was Sindarin?
GwaihirValar: Perhaps he didn't talk to anyone... Pippin did spend
almost all of his time with the other hobbits - not even looking at any
maps or anything if I remember correctly.
karakedi25: He couldn't have been that isolated that he didn't hear any Sindarin.
Eonwe Valar: I would say because he didn't spend all that much time
focusing on it. Elves in Rivendell probably would've spoken Westron
around the visitors to be polite.
ArPharazonV: Aye. And maybe the Elves were used to talking Westron when guests were around.
karakedi25: It just seems like a bit of an inconsistency.
GwaihirValar: this is Pippin we're talking about kara :-)
Eonwe Valar: Aye, Pippin didn't strike me as particularly attention alot of the time, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: I mean, he threw a pebble into a well in a place like Moria of all things.
karakedi25: hard to believe that he was THAT inattentive, but ok, it's possible
Eonwe Valar: Well, he was protrayed as fairly childish until after his
ordeal with the Palantir. Children don't always pay attention to what
the grown-ups are doing, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Well, maybe until he and Merry were taken captive by the
orcs. Either way, he was considered young by Hobbit standards.
Eonwe Valar: Which would feed nicely into a trivia question, hehe.
karakedi25: go for it!
Eonwe Valar: If Phar has nothing, I'll go ahead and pose it :}
ArPharazonV: oh, was i supposed to start?
AriehnV: meep
Eonwe Valar: Yes :} Unless Arien was joining us for trivia then she starts :}
ArPharazonV: alphabet, right
AriehnV: hehe :-)
AriehnV: I will i think
Tolkien trivia game begins:
AriehnV: At what Hobbits were considered as "adults" and "grow some Hobbit sense"?
Eonwe Valar: See, you could be at the bottom of the list, Phar, but the
pride of the Numenorean kings stuck you at the top, Ar-Pharazon :}
AriehnV: insert age
karakedi25: can any of us answer?
Eonwe Valar: 33
ArPharazonV: 33 years?
Eonwe Valar: Aye, anyone can answer, Indis :}
AriehnV: 33 is correct :-)
karakedi25: there was something about age 50 as well
Eonwe Valar: Frodo and BIlbo were both 50ish when they left the Shire.
ArPharazonV: I know 50 was the age at which Bilbo went on his adventures. And Frodo around there too, yes.
Eonwe Valar: Phar's turn :}
Eonwe Valar: To ask a question :}
ArPharazonV: Hmm, I know this was Hobbit, and not sure it was mentioned in LotR... but what sport did Bandobras invent, and how? :-)
karakedi25: said to have invented golf
ArPharazonV: yep! and that's the problem with a 2-part question in a quiz like this
Eonwe Valar: lol, Golf :} something about hitting an orc head into a hole if memory serves.
ArPharazonV: yeah :-)
karakedi25: related to the head of Golfimbul, which he shot into a rabbit hole
ArPharazonV: very good!
karakedi25: goblin head
ArPharazonV: goblins and orcs are pretty much interchangeable at that point
Eonwe Valar: My question builds off Arien's: How old was Pippin when he reached Minas Tirith?
karakedi25: less than 33
karakedi25: 29
karakedi25: he told Bergil that it was his age
karakedi25: (Beregond's son)
Eonwe Valar: Correct :} Showing that he had yet to develop Hobbit Sense :}
GwaihirValar: If thats really the age... so he was what... 12 at Frodo's birthday party?
Eonwe Valar: Sounds about right.
ArPharazonV: I know Merry was 19 at the time.
ArPharazonV: As for the others, they were pretty much younger, but their friendship was only mentioned in the years after.
GwaihirValar: I think there were some time oversights in there then....
because that seems too young to have the experience he'd had...
interesting.
Eonwe Valar: Which experience, Gwaihir?
GwaihirValar: Well some of the things that they talk about hint at
years of experiences... I can't remember the specific examples
unfortunately...
GwaihirValar: but it just doesn't ring true, I'll have to keep it in mind in my next read through
Eonwe Valar: Well, consider he was to one day grow up to be the Took.
Eonwe Valar: As well as the Thain.
Eonwe Valar: He was what would amount to nobility among Hobbits.
Eonwe Valar: WIthout knowing what specific examples you're refering to,
that at least would account for some education of things on his part.
GwaihirValar: Yep
Eonwe Valar: It's your turn to ask a question, btw Gwaihir :}
GwaihirValar: okie dokie... lets see whaT I acn remember... ol
GwaihirValar: An old favourite I guess... what was the date they attempted the crossing of Caradhras(sp?)?
AriehnV has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: December 25th.
AriehnV has entered the room.
AriehnV: sorry for this folks my net collapsed for a bit
AriehnV: what did i miss?
GwaihirValar: sry wife called, back now
Eonwe Valar: Unless you missed Gwaihir's question, nothing.
ArPharazonV: Eonwe answering December 25th.
GwaihirValar: but that is incorrect eo
AriehnV: what was the question?
Eonwe Valar: GwaihirValar: An old favourite I guess... what was the date they attempted the crossing of Caradhras(sp?)?
ArPharazonV: GwaihirValar: An old favourite I guess... what was the date they attempted the crossing of Caradhras(sp?)?
GwaihirValar: date of the crossing of the caradhras
ArPharazonV: well it's bound to be somewhere around there...
GwaihirValar: Its pretty close, but the date is actually mentioned
ArPharazonV: Yule?
GwaihirValar: its a numbered date
Eonwe Valar: January 6th then I'll say, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Those are the two dates jumping out in my mind.
GwaihirValar: Frodo says it to himself when thinking about what he'd tell Bilbo if they quit
GwaihirValar: I had to find my books to get the exact quote, but this date always stands out to me ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Someone else must figure out the answer :}
GwaihirValar: yeppers
ArPharazonV: it'd just be guesswork for me
ArPharazonV: if it can be anywhere in that period of time, it'll be a lot of guessing ;-)
GwaihirValar: give up then? Or does someone wanna throw a guess?
AriehnV: 1st of January?
ArPharazonV: 2nd for me!
GwaihirValar: Nope, I'll just say it then: "I don't think much of your diary, he said, Snowstorms on January the twelfth: there was no need to come back to report that!"
AriehnV: ah :-)
ArPharazonV: Twelfth? We would've gotten there eventually ;-)
Eonwe Valar: So together you two could've got it, hehe a 1 and a 2 :}
AriehnV: hheehe nice one aye
ArPharazonV: Just goes to show. Cooperation always works out ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Indis' turn if she's still here, then on to Round 2 :}
AriehnV: :-D
AriehnV: i ve got a few in petto from the quiz that i took part in :-) if Gwaihir has none :-)
GwaihirValar: its Indis' turn, not mine ;-)
AriehnV: she doesnt seem to be here tho
Eonwe Valar: Indis seems to be away.
Eonwe Valar: I declare round 2 and Arien's turn.
AriehnV: How many rings were mentioned in the elven lore verse "3 rings for the Elf Lords"?
ArPharazonV: 20
ArPharazonV: more if you count seperate mentions of the One Ring as multiple rings ;-)
karakedi25: oops
karakedi25: I have one
AriehnV: hehe aye .. they mentioned 21 rings
AriehnV: but i think its 20
GwaihirValar: 3 7 9 and 1.... but the 1 ring was mentioned... 4 times?
Eonwe Valar: It's 20, unless you want to add the four other mentions of the One Ring.
AriehnV: 20 is correct
Eonwe Valar: Scratch *other*
AriehnV: Indis turn now :-)
AriehnV: then Phara after her?
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
karakedi25: where was Theoden when he received the Red Arrow from Gondor?
AriehnV: Dunharrow
ArPharazonV: Probably Dunharrow, but just in case it's not I'll say Helm's Deep.
karakedi25: it was dunharrow
karakedi25: Phar's turn
GwaihirValar: I've gotta be going, dinner nad such time... cya guys :-)
ArPharazonV: Where did Aragorn first look into the Palantir?
AriehnV: all right Namarie :-)
Eonwe Valar: Take care Phar :}
GwaihirValar: wrong person ;-)_
GwaihirValar: cya!
ArPharazonV: Namarie Gwai :-)
Eonwe Valar: Er, Gwaihir.
GwaihirValar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Don't know why I said Phar.
karakedi25: Helms Deep
ArPharazonV: correct, kind of a giveaway after what I said at the last question, but yes :-)
Eonwe Valar: OK, my turn.
Eonwe Valar: Here's a favorite question of mine, so you all should know the answer :}
Eonwe Valar: How many times are the Valar mentioned (as in, how many times is the word "Valar" actually used) in LotR?
karakedi25: I don't know, but I suspect it's not many, if any
ArPharazonV: I'll go with 1.
AriehnV: I am not sure if the wprd "Valar" is used at all
AriehnV: so i say no time :-)
Eonwe Valar: I'll not drag this out. The answer is 3 :}
Eonwe Valar: The Rangers of Ithilien say “May the Valar turn them(the
Mumakil) aside!”; The Charge of the Rohirrim at the Battle of the
Pelennor Fields was likened to “Oromë the great in the battle of
the Valar when the world was young.”; Aragorn’s coronation, “Now come
the days of the King, and may they be blessed while the thrones of the
Valar endure!”
Eonwe Valar: Indis' turn :}
Eonwe Valar: Unless she went afk again :}
Eonwe Valar: Shall we leave it with jsut two round and be about our
business, or does anyone actually want to do the third round?
Eonwe Valar: *just two rounds
AriehnV: bed time for me folks :-( , i get a touch sleepy :-)#
Eonwe Valar: OK.
Eonwe Valar: *bangs gavel*
