ArPharazonV: congrats!
Eonwe Valar: Do we have any more
Membership news before I continue?
AriehnV: *sends soothing sunbeams to
soften crinkles and shields herself agains flying splingers"
fladrifv: they will just burn if they even come close arien :-)
AriehnV:
i have had a wee conversation about the
valarguild and its activities with one of my fellow Bravehearts on
aunchindoun
AriehnV: probably he has been
browsing the website , but what will come of it we shall see :-)
Eonwe Valar: Cool :}
top
Eonwe Valar: On to
Web News:
Eonwe Valar: Always work going on in the
background :} Might not be too much longer before it can be seen though
:}
Eonwe Valar: Still within the realm of
"Blizzard soon" though :}
AriehnV: ah :-) hope so
indeed

Eonwe Valar:
Gaming:
Eonwe Valar:
Starcraft 2's release date
has been set.
Eonwe Valar: July 27th, 2010.
fladrifv: !
Eonwe Valar: So we know before then the
new Battle.net 2.0 features will be blended into WoW.
AriehnV: how what ? u mean the cross
server chat?
Eonwe Valar:
WoW:
Eonwe Valar: Among other things, aye.
Eonwe Valar: But it seems cross-server
chat will be limited to those willing to exchange their "RealID" with
others, unfortunately.
Eonwe Valar: I'm not currently happy with
the way Blizzard is handling all of that.
Eonwe Valar: One sec, I'll provide a link
so you all can determine for yourselves.
Eonwe Valar:
http://www.battle.net/realid/
Eonwe Valar: There you go.
Eonwe Valar: If there are no more
comments/questions on this topic, I'll continue with Gaming news.
AriehnV: go on
Eonwe Valar: WoW:
Eonwe Valar: As I mentioned. Nob nad
Bofur added their WoW characters to our Lothar Branch, and that night,
those two, Bilbo, and I got a chance to get
into a random together. Went smoothly :}
Eonwe Valar: *Nob and Bofur
Eonwe Valar: Unfortunately, I wasn't able
to make it onto WoW on Friday.
Eonwe Valar:
LotRO::
Eonwe Valar: Usual suspects on during the
week :}
Eonwe Valar: Afraid I don't have much
detail on what we've done there, but there's been a few dungeons run.
Eonwe Valar: The free stable rides are
over unfortunately.
AriehnV: i ve had a chance to take
some :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: It was certainly nice :}
Eonwe Valar: Any other gaming news before
we move on to Tolkien?
top
Eonwe Valar: OK, then on to
Tolkien!
Eonwe Valar: We have a topic from Varda
tonight :}
Eonwe Valar: But first, remember everyone
to read the
RP :} Arien added a part to it :}
Eonwe Valar: OK, so the topic, very
appropriate for today, is to discuss some of the
mothers in Tolkien's
works. Also, who were the children? The fathers
(as in husbands of, not fathers of, the mothers)?
Eonwe Valar: Anyone here? :}
AriehnV: aye
ArPharazonV: ...for about 30%
AriehnV:
i think the mother that comes first to my
mind is Aragorns mother who was very aware about the fate of her son,
and that she must lose him [
note: Gilraen]
Eonwe Valar: Lose him?
AriehnV: well i mean , give him up
so he can fulfill what he is born to do
AriehnV: let him go to be what he is
meant to be
Eonwe Valar: Seems to me that would be an
eventuality for any mother? :}
AriehnV: some have more difficulties
than others :-) , anyway there is one mother and sshe was
both protective (gave him a cover name) and loving (let
him grow up in the safe haven of rivendell with all the joys that place
has to offer for a boy
AriehnV: thats one mother :-)
but there are others mentioned
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Eonwe Valar: Before we name others, who
was her husband?
Eonwe Valar: And where was he all this
time? :}
AriehnV: Aratorn II i believe?
Eonwe Valar: Arathorn :}
AriehnV: he
AriehnV: oops
AriehnV: he was Captain of the
rangers of the north as his father before him , scouting , fighting in
and out and if i remember right from the Tale of Aragorn
he was killed when Aragorn was still a young man
Eonwe Valar: Aragorn was a child at the
time. Gilraen's father wasn't happy about the union, but Gilraen's
mother had the attitude "now or never" more or
less :}
Eonwe Valar: Aragorn was 2 when his
father died. Just checked real quick :}
Eonwe Valar: It is ok to use books btw :}
Eonwe Valar: Who else do we have?
AriehnV: ooh Gilraen btw was her
name
Eonwe Valar: Aye :}
Eonwe Valar: We can't go without
mentioning
Celebrian, wife of Elrond, mother of Elladan,Elrohir, and
Arwen.
Eonwe Valar:
Galadriel, wife of Celeborn,
mother of Celebrian.
Eonwe Valar:
Arwen, wife of Aragorn,
mother of Eldarion and many daughters.
AriehnV: F
AriehnV:
Rose Gamdschie
AriehnV: mother of Frodo, Goldilocks
and dozens of others ^^
AriehnV: Elanor i can remember
ArPharazonV:
Lobelia, and Lotho her son :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: Rose Gamgee, aye :}
Eonwe Valar:
Eowyn marreid Faramir and
had a child. I couldn't find a reference quickly
in the books, but Varda mentions the child's name is Elboron or
something similar.
Eonwe Valar: *married
AriehnV:
Diamond of Long Cleeve ,
Pippins wife had one son, Faramir I
Eonwe Valar: We have
Primula Baggins,
wife of Drogo Baggins, mother of Frodo
Baggins. I'm sure we've all heard of that guy :}
AriehnV: ^^
AriehnV:
Estella Bolger , Merry's
wife , but i am not sure if they had children .. probably
Eonwe Valar: Probably, aye.
Eonwe Valar: We would be remiss if we did
not mention the only Dwarf woman we know
the name of :}
Dis, mother of Fili and Kili :}
AriehnV: of course :-)
Eonwe Valar: Thorin's sister. Seems
Thorin loved her dearly, and the relationship
between him and his nephews was closer that was typical for Dwarves.
Eonwe Valar: Shall we call it here and
let everyone get back to mother-pampering/ being
pampered? :}
AriehnV:
Idril , mother of Earendil
and wife of Tuor :-)
Eonwe Valar: Aye :]
AriehnV: think thats the most
important ones anyway
ArPharazonV: sorry for not being here ;-) just Kel'thuzad left!
AriehnV:
beh blast him hehe
AriehnV: give him a good one from me
ArPharazonV: and then we'll ahve done the entire place with 17-18
people and half of us dead tired...
ArPharazonV: except 4 horsemen but they're not required for the
achievement
AriehnV:
bah they are a bugger
AriehnV: good to know
Eonwe Valar: OK, let's call it here.
Eonwe Valar: *Raises gavel to the sky*
Eonwe Valar: *Brings the gravel crashing
down to the ground*

Eonwe Valar:
Aftermeeting :}
Eonwe Valar: Your assignment for next
week: Read Chapters 1-22 of
Fellowship of the Ring :} If you can't find
Chapter 22, just keep reading LotR until you
hit it :}
AriehnV: hehe :-D
ArPharazonV: whee, Dedicated Few (25)
ArPharazonV: succesful raid!
VardaValar1: 1-22 Oh dear. :-)
VardaValar1: Congrats, Phar. :-)
ArPharazonV: 1-22... is that to the end of F... yep, that's the
entire Fellowship book
ArPharazonV: except the prologue :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: ok, we have to add the
Prologue and maybe the
Hobbit?
Eonwe Valar: Well I didn't want to give
you too much to read :}
VardaValar1: Thanks ;-)
Eonwe Valar: 3-4 chapters a night, and
you can have
Fellowship done by next Sunday :}
ArPharazonV: I'm still in chapter 5 *cough*
ArPharazonV: started reading months ago
VardaValar1: Ok, Phar. 3-4 chapters a
night. ;-)
ArPharazonV: hurr, tiring WoW-weekend this was
ArPharazonV: whole week, in fact
ArPharazonV: But I'm on 8915 achievement points now, and I know
what I need to get to reach my goal of 9000 :-)
Eonwe Valar: Training in the Hyperbolic
Time Chamber? (Sorry, DBZ joke :})
ArPharazonV: Oh! Speaking of WoW, I managed to grab the Grand
master arena trinket from Gurubashi Arena.
ArPharazonV: so that was a fun adventure
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
ArPharazonV: And yes, DBZ :-)
ArPharazonV:
http://www.wowwiki.com/It%27s_Over_Nine_Thousand! is the feat I'm after :-)
Eonwe Valar: I thought you might be :}
ArPharazonV: If we get Lich King down now on 10-man and Putricide
on 25-man (both are halfway-dead in our current progress), I get a few
more hundred gold to buy a
Kirin Tor Ring, and I get 26 more victories in Alterac Valley I'll end
up at 9005 points.
ArPharazonV: So I know what I've got to do ;-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: Well, Good luck :}
ArPharazonV: thanks
ArPharazonV: I'm leaving for
fieldwork in a week, monday the 17th,
but I'm hoping to get at least 10-15 more victories done before then,
and the Ring
ArPharazonV: and then I'll finish up when I get back
Eonwe Valar: Cool.
Eonwe Valar: Right now, there's only one
Achievement I'm *really* interested in. Unfortunately, its primarily a
matter of luck in being able to complete it.
ArPharazonV: which is?
Eonwe Valar:
http://www.wowwiki.com/The_Sword_in_the_Skull
ArPharazonV: Ah, Quel'delar.
ArPharazonV: I bought that one from the AH at one point, 14000.
Eonwe Valar: That's the only Argent
Tourney World Event Achievement I don't have.
ArPharazonV: *nod* was the same for me
ArPharazonV: just get the cash ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Working on it :}
Eonwe Valar: It's still a matter of luck
:}
Eonwe Valar: I have to hope I find it in
my price range :}
ArPharazonV: *nod* I dealt with that by just getting more money.
Eventually you will enter the price range of the sword ;-)
Eonwe Valar: I've seen it go for as low as
9k.
ArPharazonV: yeah, that too, but then switch up again
Eonwe Valar: 14k is a bit beyond what I'm
willing to pay even if I had the money.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, I'm happy in WoW now. Got a raid done for 60
achievement points (50 for dedicated few!) which means the end of my
9000 grind is in sight, and after
that I will resume my progress towards the Insane feat.
ArPharazonV: I think I'm getting just about ready for
Cataclysm,
running out of content ;-)
Eonwe Valar: As I don't raid, I'm already
ready for Cataclysm :}
ArPharazonV: hehe
ArPharazonV: Well, maybe I'll be able to spend some time on
Starcraft II.
ArPharazonV: I'm not a Terran fan, but it should be a fun first
campaign.
Eonwe Valar: I'm more interested in
Protoss myself.
ArPharazonV: I'm a bit of a Zerg-lover.
ArPharazonV: The whole concept and atmosphere is so creepy and fun.
Eonwe Valar: No pun intended? :}
ArPharazonV: it's like an organic Scourge from Warcraft III.
ArPharazonV: hehe, no pun intended
ArPharazonV: but yeah, the Creep is fun as well :-)
Eonwe Valar: The other way around, really
:} The Scourge is an Undead Zerg :}
ArPharazonV: True ;-)
ArPharazonV: Organic bases, breeding zerg from one source,
overrunning the enemy and spreading creep and organic looking stuff all
over the map...
ArPharazonV: I can't wait!
Eonwe Valar: :}
fladrifv
has left the room.
AriehnV: hihi u havent logged off either :-) but i
might go to bed now :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well :}
ArPharazonV: Namarie :-)
AriehnV:
just three manned zul farak with two
shammies, one fifty and one 45 at time of start :-)
AriehnV: on my priest
AriehnV: 45 now :-) and

AriehnV: Namarie :-)
AriehnV
has left the room.
