ArPharazonV: yep
Eonwe Valar: I plan to have it by 1am my time :}
Eonwe Valar: On the release day :}
Eonwe Valar: Any other business before we move into Tolkien?
top
Eonwe Valar:
Tolkien:
Eonwe Valar: First, a couple of items.
Eonwe Valar: Maedhros
has suggested a link on the Forum to
The Tolkien Professor -
"Essentially a college-level course in Tolkien's work, free for the
listening online. Great stuff!" (his words)
karakedi25: yes, I've seen it-it's a good site.
Eonwe Valar: We've
heard of university courses on TOlkien's works before, so I wouldn't be
surprised if we already have it or something similar linked on
our Tolkien Links page, but I thought I'd point it out anyway. [
Note: already on our Links page under Encyclopedias, Articles, FAQs, see The Tolkien Professor.]
Eonwe Valar: Item 2.) RPers should read the
RP :}
karakedi25: Anything new since your post, Eonwe?
karakedi25: If not, Meren can cause some more trouble among the next wave of attackers.
karakedi25: (If there is one)
Eonwe Valar: I
put up a post this week, the editted it a couple of times since it's
posting, so unless you've read it since,.. Thursday I think,.. you may
want to
reread it.
karakedi25: OK, I"ll check it out.
AriehnV: i
wondered what kind of attack ur planning or what effects ur had or in
what way i should have looked out before i can actually react
AriehnV: so if there is vapour cloud or dust cloud i d have to wait until it dissolves
Eonwe Valar: Side
note: By "Meren's assult" I am refering to her use of the small
leaf-pouch. I hoped it'd be obvious, but I'm mentioning it in case it's
not.
AriehnV: other than that i ll post Frali hacking a bit ^^
AriehnV: but would be nice to know that maybe first
karakedi25: Meren may use some kind of tanglefoot next--Frali may or may not be vulnerable to that, but if he is, he can whack in one spot.
Eonwe Valar: Tanglefoot?
Eonwe Valar: Like a bola?
karakedi25: Something in the way of plants that slow and root the enemy
ArPharazonV: hmm, entangling roots *grin*
karakedi25: perhaps a net of some sort
Eonwe Valar: I don't think plants generally spring up that fast in Tolkien's world.
karakedi25: with barbs :-)
karakedi25: that's why it would be a net, not a magic plant
Eonwe Valar: So you're going to throw a net of plants?
karakedi25: but it would be made with something barbed, so it would be very sticky and painful
ArPharazonV: a barbed net... sounds very hard to store and untangle when you need it
karakedi25: it will of course be made of vines and such. Not very large, so it will have to be targetted carefullly
karakedi25: (am thinking aloud--if it doesn't work, I'll think of something else--perhaps more bio warfare
karakedi25: )
karakedi25: *has an idea that she'll keep to herself for now* ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Nets
generally are not thrown from a great distance (horizontally) that I
recall. Would require the user almost in melee range, in the cases that
it's usable by a single person on the ground, or to be close but above.
In the second, it's less useful when you have melee forces in your own
party
engaging.
karakedi25: I have a better idea now
karakedi25: Think 'rain of thorns.'
Eonwe Valar: Sounds dangerous and with potential for friendly fire :}
karakedi25: One way or the other, Meren will come up with something that will work, using her skill set.
karakedi25: What do we have planned to end the battle?
Eonwe Valar: I had thought Calaraon was supposed to arrive at some point? And/or Estarion?
ArPharazonV: Yeah, they are.
ArPharazonV: Though at what part of the fight, I don't know.
Eonwe Valar: I
figured writing that the enemy was smart enough to back off,
re-organize, and re-engage was better than just "And theArchers did rain
great slaughter, and the Noldo and Dwarf did create great devastation,
and they did win the day." :}
ArPharazonV: Aye.
ArPharazonV: I get the feeling this fight will be done much sooner than our little journey through the forest to meet you.
ArPharazonV: But with regrouping, we could stretch it out a bit.
Eonwe Valar: Aye. The enemy regrouping can bring with it a change in strategy, reinforcements, that kind of thing.
AriehnV: lol
AriehnV: if there are more orc troops close by they will have heard the noise
AriehnV: .. let a second group arrive .. a second wave
ArPharazonV: Let all the forests of Mirkwood descend upon ye....
AriehnV: its usually four i think in wow ^^
ArPharazonV: Actually, in the lower levels, it's usually 3.
AriehnV: ok three
AriehnV: three wave
AriehnV: s here then :-)
ArPharazonV: Did a few escort quests on my alt recently, it's always 3!
Eonwe Valar: I
was thinking about the spiders that, aside from a mention in Varda's
post that Fainan was watching for them, I don't believe actually have
engaged yet.
AriehnV: ok that would make three
AriehnV: that first group .. then the spiders aand a second orc troop
AriehnV: sounds nice :-)
Eonwe Valar: It is possible some more
orcs drew close in the time of the first
battle.
Eonwe Valar: Presumably a little hardier
and coordinated than the orcs we just
dealt with?
Eonwe Valar: Or maybe just a little more
willing to kill us instead of try to grab us
and take us to their master.
ArPharazonV: Hmmm.
karakedi25: I can see that Meren may need
some spider poison too.
GwaihirValar: Its time for me to go and
start dinner, its been a pleasure. Take
care everyone.
ArPharazonV: enjoy!
Eonwe Valar: Take care Gwaihir and
Gilraen :}
GwaihirValar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: If Calaron is drawing close,
his own appearance may be
proceeded by a group of large orcs.
ArPharazonV: Hyes. But that's up to me and
Estarion, so far.
Eonwe Valar: I'm thinking aloud :}
ArPharazonV: I'll chase him down this week
if you want.
ArPharazonV: Ah :-)
Eonwe Valar: I'm thinking a leader
generally keeps his best troops as his
personal guard.
ArPharazonV: Yes. Calaron has a squad of
orcs following him and Estarion from the
ground.
ArPharazonV: If we draw near you, they'll
hear you and come fight.
Eonwe Valar: Calaron probably wouldn't
appreciate us killing his best orcs,
hehe.
ArPharazonV: Hmm. While the *best* orcs
might be tragic, yes, I'm pretty sure he
thinks of most of them as rather expendable.
As long as they get the job done.
ArPharazonV: When they don't, however, he
might be a bit angry.
Eonwe Valar: Aye :} Good help is hard to
find, especially among orcs :}
Eonwe Valar: Anything else to say on the
RP?
Eonwe Valar: I'll take that as a no :}
karakedi25: not atm
Eonwe Valar: Let's go ahead and adjourn
the meeting here then.
Eonwe Valar: *Raises gavel high into the
air*
Eonwe Valar: *Brings gavel crashing
down to the earth, signalling the end of
the meeting.
Eonwe Valar: *
top
Eonwe Valar:
Aftermeeting :}
AriehnV: thankies :-)
Eonwe Valar: All RPers, remember to be
considering the road ahead between
MIrkwood and Rivendell as well as the
immediate action :}
AriehnV: mh
karakedi25: how close are we to the edge of the forest
karakedi25: ?
ArPharazonV: Shouldn't be too long. A few hours, after we get clear of this encounter.
fladrifv has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
karakedi25: aha, the very one we need for
the RP :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya!
karakedi25: Aiya Menel
ArPharazonV: Aiya
ArPharazonV: Nah, not yet, I need to post
before Menel ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: ah, then it seems
Pharzie posted in the week gone by ;P
ArPharazonV: No, I haven't.
ArPharazonV: I should, though.
ArPharazonV: Sorry if I'm delaying things.
Menelvagor Valar: yes, you should.
Menelvagor Valar: happens ^^
ArPharazonV: I'll try to get it done tomorrow,
how'zat?
Menelvagor Valar: hmmm... may just be
a tad little too late :-P
Menelvagor Valar: then again, I am not
one to judge on lateness :-P
AriehnV: aiya Menel :-)
Menelvagor Valar: whoa.

AriehnV: was she red .. i think she might ,
Andraste was her name
Menelvagor Valar: in Garth Agarwen?
AriehnV: was chapter ten in book one
AriehnV: just outside the Old Forest and

Menelvagor Valar: ah.
