Before-meeting:
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya, still about 15 minutes, no hurry.
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
VardaValar1: Aiya Eonwe :-)
fladrifv has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya all
ArPharazonV: Nice game, Flad!
ArPharazonV: gotta love zerg flyers
fladrifv: yes you did all the work but ok hehe
ArPharazonV: eh, you did better yesterday
ArPharazonV: guess we're even :-)
VardaValar1: Hiya Phar and Flad :-)
fladrifv: aiya
VardaValar1: Good to see you could make it in, ent!
fladrifv: sorry for stampeding the chat :-)
ArPharazonV: Fladrif and I just did a lovely game of Lost Temple in SCII
fladrifv: back from holidays
VardaValar1: Not at all
ArPharazonV: granted, it was "easy" AI, but it was fun!
VardaValar1: We are in Before-meeting. :-)
ArPharazonV: it's really not a true Blizzard RTS until you've played Lost Temple in multiplayer.
austeinm has entered the room.
austeinm: Aiya
fladrifv: maybe i should have build soemthing with the 9k crystals harvested
VardaValar1: Aiya AuStein! :-)
Eonwe Valar: Heya Austein. Been a while :}
ArPharazonV: I ran out of gas at one point. Guess that's the trouble with flyers and ultralisks.
VardaValar1: So you're in Iceland. Almost neighboring some of these guys. :-)
austeinm: Indeed, getting closer every day
ArPharazonV: Had to take the island expansion just to keep my vespene going
VardaValar1: Phar and Flad are in the Netherlands.
austeinm: It's been a while. Moved on to Starcraft now?
VardaValar1: I'm in Lord of the Rings Online. Haven't picked up SC 2 yet.
Eonwe Valar: Moved on? No. Expanded to? Yes :}
Eonwe Valar: Our members play a variety of games :}
ArPharazonV: It's still pre-meeting, if that's what you mean. Just reviewing a game Fladrif and I just played.
VardaValar1: World of WarCraft is still popular with a good bunch.
austeinm: Oh, I meant more generally. Curious what people are playing
austeinm: Cool
VardaValar1: The biggest lot of us are in Lord of the Rings Online.
austeinm: I was watching some SC2 replays earlier... trying to not get sucked in since I really don't have the time
austeinm: Makes sense for this group :-)
VardaValar1: You can schedule yourself if you're strong. Like once a
week at a certain time of day you can play whatever the game is. :-)
ArPharazonV: I don't play it too often. I'm only halfway through the
campaign. But when I have time to squash some AI with Fladrif, using my
favorite gooey spiney race... it's hard to resist.
VardaValar1: We're just chatting a bit at the moment, aye. Not formally in the meeting yet.
austeinm: I have to ask - anybody tried EVE?
ArPharazonV: Pallando's into Eve, but I haven't seen him around lately?
VardaValar1: Aye, we have some members in EVE Online.
VardaValar1: Menelvagor was playing it for while, not sure if he still does.
VardaValar1: Some others do too, but I forget who.
austeinm: Neat. But no Valar corp in-game?
Eonwe Valar: Afk for a moment.
VardaValar1: Aye, Pallando set one up.
VardaValar1: He's in the military, so he goes missing for a while.
austeinm: Oh, cool. I should see about joining :-)
VardaValar1: He'd love that. : )
austeinm: heh, which country?
VardaValar1: Pallando is USA
austeinm: At least they get internet on deployment, I guess
VardaValar1: Feel free to email him.
VardaValar1: Aye, at times.
VardaValar1: For emails, go to our site at http://valarguld.org, click News and Membership

ArPharazonV: valarguld? ;-)

VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org
VardaValar1: Thanks for catching that!
VardaValar1: We have a spammer harvesting our email somehow off the site, even with the scrambling.
VardaValar1: Makes me think it might be a live person instead of the usual bot.
VardaValar1: Luthien thinks she may have a way to defeat it that we may try.
VardaValar1: The spam says : I wish to have a good friendships with you.
VardaValar1: Just trash it if you get it.
ArPharazonV: oh, I get that stuff all the time in my gmail...
VardaValar1: Elwing-V's birthday was August 19.
ArPharazonV: people always want to be friends with me!
VardaValar1: Phar, that one mentioned the Valar Guild, so that's why it was bothersome.
VardaValar1: It went right to my spam folder and wouldn't have noticed it but two members asked me about it.
VardaValar1: Indis-V's laptop is repaired so she still plays with us even while traveling. She's in California.
VardaValar1: Anyone else with membership news they'd like to pass along?
VardaValar1: Phar, it's because you're such a sweetie.
VardaValar1: Anyway, we've worked to make our email listings tough to harvest, so this hit the old pride. :-)

VardaValar1: Luthien-(T) has made a new batch of pictures that should start showing up this week on our site.
VardaValar1: For a sneak preview and the wonderful reason her creativity re-ignited, here's her website:
VardaValar1: http://www.menel.forodhren.nl/
VardaValar1: She'll be adding more English version pages later. At least she has it for the first page. :-)
VardaValar1: Menel Forodhren is the section she says we can use.
VardaValar1: Eonwe, would you like to tell about your major webwork during this last week? Be a good time to mention the Forum, perhaps?
Eonwe Valar: The forum and my major webwork are one and the same :}
Eonwe Valar: As you all hopefully know, I've been working on the forum some more this week.
Eonwe Valar: I pulled back on the use of CSS, because it just turned
into a pile of contradictions to get stuff to do stuff that other stuff
wasn't doing.
Eonwe Valar: Plus, it killed the Old Default skin using CSS and I
wasn't interested in making the creation of multiple skins pointless.
Eonwe Valar: So, with the exception of one or two things, which you
will notice if you have the Old Default skin on, every font color and
background is controlled by a skin.
Eonwe Valar: If for some reason, you just really really like the old skin, it's still there, as I said, as Old Default.
Eonwe Valar: If, however, you would like the skin when you log in to
look like the the skin set to be the new default, do the following.
Eonwe Valar: 1.) Log in.
Eonwe Valar: 2.)Go to your Profile.
Eonwe Valar: 3.) Select "Modify Profile" from the selection near the top of your profile area.
Eonwe Valar: 4.) Scan through the options until you reach the option to change your skin. Select "VG Standard".
Eonwe Valar: 5.) Save your changes.
Eonwe Valar: After that, you should see everything the way I intend it to look :}{
Eonwe Valar: This *should* only matter for those of us who joined a
long time ago. Anyone joining the forum after I made the new skin the
default *should* end up with VG Standard already set.
Eonwe Valar: Any comments on the new forum look?
Eonwe Valar: One more note: In 98% of cases, if you see something on
the forum that's the same color as anything else, that means that
trying to change one will change both. Keep that in mind :} I can tweak
a little, but not alot individually, and the effort to get CSS to work
is not worth what we get out of it at this time.
Eonwe Valar: No comments? Really? :}
Eonwe Valar: OK, I guess we'll just carry on with the meeting then. I
would like, though, that all members be sure to put the forum to use.

Eonwe Valar: Gaming:
Eonwe Valar: WoW: The Cataclysm Collector's Edition has been announced, with its goodies and box art.
ArPharazonV: Yeah. The moment I read the mail about it I looked at some online shops, already sold out. Wonderful.
austeinm has left the room.
VardaValar1: Was everyone able to pull up the new skin for the forum?
austeinm has left the room.
austeinm has entered the room.
VardaValar1: AuStein's client was acting up and he missed a batch of messages just now.
Eonwe Valar: Ouch. Sorry to hear that.
Eonwe Valar: Lothar: Usual suspects on :} Sauron, Elwing, Bilbo, I think I saw Fangorn and Eowyn on during the week as well.
Eonwe Valar: I managed to find myself in Icecrown Citadel with a friend
because the raid he was in had an empty spot and I just happened to be
available. I certainly wouldn't mind going back with guild members if
we managed to get enough together with non-conflicting schedules.
Getting the gear to not do terribly isn't too hard, so.. :}
VardaValar1: I dropped in briefly too. :-)
ArPharazonV: how did you do in ICC, Eonwe?
VardaValar1: Congrats on the raid run!
Eonwe Valar: We got the first wing done, killed Festerguy, then everyone else had to go because it was an hour later for them.
Eonwe Valar: *Festergut, excuse me. "Y" is too close to "T" :}
VardaValar1: but Festerguy was funny. :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
ArPharazonV: I always call him Uncle Fester.
Eonwe Valar: I got to upgrade one of my rings to the Ashen Verdict ring, so I walked away with something useful.
ArPharazonV: ah, goody
ArPharazonV: more rep for you and it'll get better ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Aye :}
Eonwe Valar: If I go to ICC again :}
Eonwe Valar: Uldaman: I haven't been on our Horde server this week.
VardaValar1: Elwing has been busy there.
VardaValar1: Fangorn is back for the weekend (just now) and will probably be in WoW tomorrow when he comes awake again. Trees.
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: LotRO: Going Free-to-play September 10th.
VardaValar1: Aye, with a new area: Enedwaith
VardaValar1: That's way south of the Shire, an area that had been flooded and has Men who are Dunlenders.
VardaValar1: Dunlanders.
VardaValar1: /smackhead
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: Also a new in-game store is being provided, helping the
free to play people upgrade a little at a time, and some stuff for the
old-timers who get automatic points.
VardaValar1: Points to spend at the store can be earned in-game or bought with real world money.
galdorandwe has entered the room.
galdorandwe has left the room.
VardaValar1: And Galdor just crashed.
galdorandwe has entered the room.
galdorandwe has left the room.
galdorandwe has entered the room.
galdorandwe has left the room.
VardaValar1: The mournful saga of Galdor.
Eonwe Valar: Anything you want to say about our Monday and Wednesday get-togehters this week, Varda?
Eonwe Valar: *get-togethers
VardaValar1: In LotRO on Wednesday, we ran Dark Delving and finished up a class quest for Pippin's warden.
VardaValar1: We also picked up some useful Moria medallions.
VardaValar1: The group also does impromptu runs with each other and with partial pugs.
VardaValar1: We seem to have something going on all the time. : )
Eonwe Valar: :}
galdorandwe has entered the room.
galdorandwe has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Starcraft 2:
VardaValar1: Galdor who is having such a hard time getting in is one of the fastest LotRO levelers I've seen. : )
Eonwe Valar: Patch 1.0.3 out, but those of you who play had no choice but to get it, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Also,
Eonwe Valar: Blizzard is talking about offering a way to be able to
change your character name for Starcraft 2. You would get a one-time
chance to do it free, then it would be paid service like in WoW. That
at least is what they're discussing right now.
VardaValar1: That is something I'd love to see in all our games. : )
ArPharazonV: can you take that free change whenever you like, or just one particular period?
Eonwe Valar: Most likely during a specific period of time.
galdorandwe has entered the room.
galdorandwe: Aiya!
VardaValar1: You made it!
Eonwe Valar: Heya Galdor :} Glad you finally made it :}
ArPharazonV: Eh, I'll stick with Calaron for now I guess, at least people will know it's me ;-)
Eonwe Valar: I'm willing to bet no one needs to be told my Character Name for SC2 :}
galdorandwe: Been having difficulty signing in.
galdorandwe: Just finished dinner as well.
VardaValar1: We've seen you coming in and crashing out. /wince
galdorandwe: I had to reboot.
ArPharazonV: Eonwe or Auros? ;-)
ArPharazonV: by the way, can European players contact American players over SCII (bnet)?
Eonwe Valar: More obvious even than that :}
Eonwe Valar: I'm not sure Phar.
VardaValar1: How can it be more obvious?
Eonwe Valar: EonweValar :}
ArPharazonV: hah
VardaValar1: Uber-clarity.
Eonwe Valar: Right now, the only way people can get in contact with
each other in Starcraft 2 is by adding each other as friends or by
talking in a game.
VardaValar1: Do we still have our usual friend channel available?
galdorandwe: What have I missed?
Eonwe Valar: There are no channels right now in bnet 2.0
VardaValar1: We are now in the Games section, StarCraft 2.
galdorandwe: I'll wait for Tolkein Talk :-)
ArPharazonV: nope, no chatrooms/channels, but I was wondering if you can add friends from across the great blue...
Eonwe Valar: Character Friends can be done by having the character name and the character code.
galdorandwe: AFK for a few.
VardaValar1: Channels can be added later, as they did in LotRO.
Eonwe Valar: RealID friends, which you won't see me using, requires the
Battle.net ID = e-mail address you use to log into WoW and SC2.
ArPharazonV: yeah, I don't use RealID either
Eonwe Valar: Actually, Phar...
VardaValar1: We haven't been using it either. Although I'm not sure about Bilbo.
Eonwe Valar: Based on stuff I read closer to SC2's release, on both
sides of it, I'm guessing we can't communicate across the ocean at this
time.
VardaValar1: Foul.
ArPharazonV: It may come. With the channels.
VardaValar1: You're welcome in LotRO though. : )
VardaValar1: /duck
Eonwe Valar: Since you're linking your stuff to your B.Net account, and it's localized, your SC2 is localized as well.
Eonwe Valar: So you'd hav to buy a US copy and have a US B.net account.
ArPharazonV: Interesting.
VardaValar1: Makes it hard to play with his European buddies though.
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
VardaValar1: Tell them all to get US copies. ;-)
ArPharazonV: hah, right
Eonwe Valar: They really better have this split localities thing dealt
with in a positive manner before D3 (read: they better get some sort of
Gateway selector set up)..
Eonwe Valar: Anyway, if there's no more to say about SC2, onwards with the meeting,
Eonwe Valar: Is there any other gaming news anyone would like to mention? Whisper me Tolkien topics at this time.
ArPharazonV: Fladrif's now playing SCII as well, and we've been doing
some multiplayer games versus the computer, as the one mentioned at the
start of this meeting :-)
ArPharazonV: if some (Europeans?) wish to join us from time to time, that would undoubtedly be quite fun :-)
VardaValar1: Maybe if we can post the SC2 names of people on the Games page we can find each other?
Eonwe Valar: Would require the character code as well.
ArPharazonV: Aye, I considered that. I'm not sure if everyone wants their character code public.
VardaValar1: Making it hard to get together.
Eonwe Valar: In order for someone to add you to their Character Friends
list. Whether or not you want people adding you to their friends list
without your knowledge, your call. Not much different that doing it in
WoW or LotRo as far as I can tell.
VardaValar1: In LotRO you just add their name to your friend list. Friend list is too short!
ArPharazonV: I know. So I'm a bit doubtful. Might still need to make
our character codes known without having to take up private messenger
contact first.
Eonwe Valar: I mean as far as you can add someone to your friends list without them knowing.
ArPharazonV: We'll see if anybody else is interested.
ArPharazonV: and yeah, that's true
VardaValar1: I guess AIM can be our contact. : )
VardaValar1: Sort of a private version of Bnet.
ArPharazonV: for now, at least :-) maybe when they insert channels or overseas contact...
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: For the Games Site, I'm willing to list the Character Name
(with region) and also Character Code, if that person is willing (until
or unless someone gives me a good reason why I shouldn't list it). I
will not, however list RealID anything at this point in time.
VardaValar1: It even works between any game, if we want to just chat. : )
Menelvagor Valar: Still afk'ish.
VardaValar1: Aiya Menel
Eonwe Valar: I do try to be on AIM whenever I am available, so anyone
actually wanting to chat with me can reach me here if they can reach me
at all.
VardaValar1: I guess getting people to have AIM up all the time they're playing would be the main problem.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Eonwe. : )
Eonwe Valar: For example, if you find a great prospect for membership and want to send him to a Vala to get tested.
VardaValar1: That's a good thought!
Eonwe Valar: Members are still welcome to sit in on the tests, if the person being tested is willing.
VardaValar1: It could cut across a lot of the problems of not having
Maiar or Valar available in the various games, and still have a branch?
ArPharazonV: they'd have to be willing to get AIM then though, if they don't already have it
Eonwe Valar: I would still prefer a Maia or Vala being in a game an in
contact with the Council before considering any branch an "official
branch." However, it wouldn't hurt that games without official branches
have members pop in and say hi.
VardaValar1: Is that a major problem?
VardaValar1: True, Eonwe.
VardaValar1: We seem to have one around for a lot of games now though. : )
Eonwe Valar: Having no contact person in a game, we would definitely
need to go by whether a member makes contact as to whether or not they
are still a member.
VardaValar1: That would have removed most of DAoC and LotRO, heh.
Eonwe Valar: If we didn't have a contact person *cough* Varda *cough* there in LotRO, aye :}
VardaValar1: We are currently looking for a Tolkien topic. Please whisper Eonwe.
VardaValar1: and Melkor, Ulmo, Orome, Tulkas, Menelvagor, Arien...
VardaValar1: Eonwe, etc. ;-)
VardaValar1: I may have to leave very soon.
Eonwe Valar: Aye, but as kinship leader and the everything-LotRO-goto-person, you're our eyes and ears on the ground :}
VardaValar1: : )
Eonwe Valar: I would very much like to get to meet more members in LotRO at our meetings and see them on the Forum, however.
VardaValar1: If we get a topic for Tolkien and not just rp, Luthien might like to know.
VardaValar1: Aye.
Eonwe Valar: I hear that the forum can even be used to pre-plan where we're going Mondays and Wednesdays! :}
VardaValar1: We might need to clean up a lot of the old run info, drop the DKP completely.
Eonwe Valar: I'd just lock it and unsticky it, put a note in it that
it's deprecated, and let it get buried in the annals of time.
Eonwe Valar: If you'd like to do that, I could leave it to you, or you
could tell me what you think should be unstickied and I can take care
of that.
Eonwe Valar: Actually, I have a quick question I'd like to address to those of us here.
Eonwe Valar: I've been considering putting links to sub-boards in the
general descriptions of any boards with sub-boards (only their own
sub-boards, of course). Assuming that the text area for the
descriptions is big enough, would anyone like that?
ArPharazonV: would be interesting
Eonwe Valar: Kind of like there's a link to the Greetings Sub-board of the Community General Board in the latter's description.
ArPharazonV: saves people a click
Eonwe Valar: Actually, not kind of like, exactly like :}
Eonwe Valar: No other comments?
VardaValar1: I'm looking at it now
VardaValar1: I see a Community/Guild Announcements and no mention of Greetings
VardaValar1: o silly me
VardaValar1: ok
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: I see it
VardaValar1: A bunch of links would make it like it was all there twice?
VardaValar1: Not sure
VardaValar1: I'll pay better attention to it later. : )
Eonwe Valar: It would be direct links to the sub-boards, so if all you
wanted was a straight shot to the Questing/Raids section of LotRO, you
just click the link in the description of the LotRO board.
ArPharazonV: I think it could work, in fact, I think I've seen
something similar on other forums. The point would be that beneath the
description would be a bunch of links to subsections in a much smaller
typeset.
ArPharazonV: often bracketed with commas between them
ArPharazonV: Of course, processing them into the actual descriptive text would be an original twist.
ArPharazonV: as you did with the greetings part
Eonwe Valar: I would likely just turn the listing I have as part of the
description into links, so aye, it would be part of the descriptive
text.
VardaValar1: I like the way you did the Greetings. : )
VardaValar1: I have to leave now, very sorry. I hope you come up with a good Tolkien discussion!
Eonwe Valar: Take care Varda :}
ArPharazonV: Namarie Varda
Eonwe Valar: I guess we'll move into Tolkien, if we have enough here ready for Tolkien :}
VardaValar1 has left the room.
top
Eonwe Valar: Tolkien:
galdorandwe: Tolkein
Eonwe Valar: Everyone who's still here say Manwë the Elder King :}
galdorandwe: Manwë the Elder King
ArPharazonV: Manwë the Elder King
Menelvagor Valar: w/e
ArPharazonV: That doesn't count, Menel. You're obviously not here.
Menelvagor Valar: no. indeed not.
galdorandwe: Cut and paste
Eonwe Valar: Last I heard he was semi-afk anyway :}
ArPharazonV: manual typing, guess I had to do it the hard way...
Eonwe Valar: So I guess that's all of us still here.
galdorandwe: what shall we talk about?
Eonwe Valar: Menel has suggested as a topic the similarities between the Valar and the Greek Pantheon.
galdorandwe: ReallY?
Eonwe Valar: I don't see too many beyond that each has a connection to a certain theme or element.
Eonwe Valar: Manwë is really nothing like Zeus.
galdorandwe: How familiar are those if us here with Unfinished Tales?
galdorandwe: those of us, rather
Menelvagor Valar: I am.
Eonwe Valar: I read it a while back, but haven't thumbs through it recently.
ArPharazonV: Have it, read it.. twice I think, but not lately. My memory could use some freshening up.
Eonwe Valar: *thumbed through it.
ArPharazonV: What topic do you wish to discuss? :-)
Eonwe Valar: If we can come up with similarities between the Valar and
the Greek Pantheon, let's discuss that since Menel was the only one to
provide a topic :}
Eonwe Valar: Otherwise, I would broaden it to compare/contrast.
galdorandwe: I read something interesting about Silvan and Sindaran language, the loss of Silvan speach in north Mirkwood, and Legolas' grandfather (name begins with O...can't recall) leading a rash charge of poorly armoured Silvan elves in the Last Alliance w/ out Gil-Galad's signal...and they got pretty well routed.
ArPharazonV: O...ropher?
galdorandwe: Thanks.
Eonwe Valar: Sounds right, Phar. Same name I'm thinking at least.
ArPharazonV: I thought Ossomer at first, but that's from a webcomic I read.
galdorandwe: I guess there is no record of Silvan language since Oropher adopted Sindaran during the second age...
Eonwe Valar: There might be some mentioned in the latter books of the History of Middle-Earth.
Eonwe Valar: I'm sure Tolkien dabbled at least a little in each of the languages he created.
galdorandwe: It was in the appendix of the Tale of Galadriel and Celeborn. A pretty informative read for anyone into Tolkein.
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
galdorandwe: I guess Oropher was not into having good relations with
anyone except Silvan elves, hence the reason they were poorly armoured.
Thranduil adopted a different view after seeing his own father's
mistake.
Eonwe Valar: Well, their strategies for protecting Mirkwood did not lend itself to heavy armour either.
ArPharazonV: Hmm... if memory serves... wasn't there something about a
botched attack on Mordor which proved disastrous for the entire
Mirkwood regiment?
galdorandwe: True, however in the book it mentioned Orpher's lack of
having anything to do with anyone other than Silvans elves as the
reason for this. Thranduil had the dwarves carve out his realm, but it
mentions it "never matched Doriath".
Eonwe Valar: It's the same problem the Green-Elves faced in the First
Age: they were poorly armoured for direct confrontation, so alot of
them ended up dead when they were brought to that kind of battle.
galdorandwe: Yes, I think I mentioned that above.
ArPharazonV: oh, right, sorry
ArPharazonV: First battle of Beleriand, I think that was, Eonwe?
Eonwe Valar: The general attitude of the Sindarin Elves of the Second
Age in reaction to the events of the First was to return to a more
natural life as well, a life more like the Silvans they came to rule.
Eonwe Valar: That the Green-Elves fought in? Aye, I believe it was. They lost their leader in that battle.
ArPharazonV: Denethor, I think he was named.
ArPharazonV: anyway, I should probably stop throwing random facts around and get back on topic
galdorandwe: There was also an interesting little bit on Fangorn and Celeborn
actually meeting face to face on the borders of their land (which
apparently touched at one point in time) and agreed to not encroach on
one another's forests. Something like "I know where my lands are and
you yours. Let niether of us molest the others, but your elves will be
wlcome to walk amongst my trees...etc..." It said somehting about it
being the nly written evidence of this.
galdorandwe: I thought that was interesting.
galdorandwe: I believe that takes me to a new level of geekdom.
Eonwe Valar: I don't see what biting the head off of animals has to do with knowing Tolkien :}
galdorandwe: Are any of you playing LoTRO tonight?
Eonwe Valar: The original definition of "geek" was someone who bit the
heads off of animals, usually at a carnival. Hence the above sentence.
galdorandwe: Understood. I'm told that "the Geeks shall inherit the earth" or somethign to that effect :-)
ArPharazonV: I feel sorry for the animals already.
Eonwe Valar: Seems they'll run out of food fast, heh.
galdorandwe: OK. I'm logging out and returning to finishing my Moria quests. Thanks everyone. Have a great night.
Eonwe Valar: Have fun :}
Eonwe Valar: Seems we're done with Tolkien chat anyway.
galdorandwe has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Shall we call it here?
ArPharazonV: Sure. Got any more comments on the RP?
ArPharazonV: Next bit is out of my hands, unless you want me to introduce our reinforcements as well
Eonwe Valar: None at the moment :} I'm deciding how Auros should react to the possessed Calaron.
Eonwe Valar: I'm inclined to believe that he should know it's not an Elf speaking to him.
Eonwe Valar: Based on the Path of the Dead, Legolas seeing the spirits of the Dead Men, among other things.
ArPharazonV: I gave him a bit of an evil touch, yes. Black eyes, bit... radiating shadow, kinda Lichking-ish almost...
ArPharazonV: Auros should at least know that something dark is going on here :-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
Eonwe Valar: I get the feeling that in my digging I might as well write an article on Elves while I'm at it.
Eonwe Valar: Like I did for Dwarves, trying to dig out what I can about their very nature.
ArPharazonV: ...Good luck. Elves have a bit more information written up about them.
ArPharazonV: Could start "small" and go with Silvans only.
Eonwe Valar: I'd have to paint history with a much borader brush to avoid retelling almost every book, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: *borader = broader
Eonwe Valar: My focus would generally be the same as the Dwarves
article: different groups, appearance so much as we can gather,
differences between the types, dealings with other races.
Eonwe Valar: And, of course, most importantly, general characteristics that can be assumed among most /all elves.
Eonwe Valar: Based on what I've read, it can be assumed Noldor come to
mastery of language sooner, whereas I probably wouldn't jump to the
conclusion that only Eldar are fully mature after 100 years.
Eonwe Valar: I'm pretty sure the statement mentioning that says "Elves" anyway, and not just "Eldar," but as it is in "Laws and Customs among the Eldar" that mistake could be made.
ArPharazonV: hmhm
Eonwe Valar: Dwarves, on the other hand, don't seem to have any particular perception when it comes to spirits and the like.
fladrifv: namarie the treeish ent is going really treeish
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well Fladrif :}
Eonwe Valar: I'll go ahead and bang the gavel here.
Eonwe Valar: *bangs gavel*
Eonwe Valar: Aftermeeting :}
ArPharazonV: Namarie Flad
Eonwe Valar: Let those who need rest get rest :}
fladrifv: Zzzzz :-)
Eonwe Valar: Urge to do research and write article, rising.... :}
fladrifv has left the room.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending
Eonwe Valar: ok
