Eonwe Valar: She's giving the test, that is, not taking it :}
Boromhir: :-)
VardaValar1: In a way, I always must take the test every time I give it. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Also, we have heard nothing from our former Boromir this week, so Boromhir, you can officially take that 'h' out of your name, hehe :}
Indis V: Congratulations!
Boromhir: Oh ! Thank you very much ! :-D
ArPharazonV: aww, all that effort, and he has to make a new name *again* ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Hehe :}
Boromhir: ahah
VardaValar1: You can also leave it, np. :-)
VardaValar1: But aye on the guild name, we can call you Boromir!
Boromhir: Thanks :-)
Eonwe Valar: Do we have any more member news?
VardaValar1: Just promoted to Kinsman in game. :-)
Boromhir: :-D
VardaValar1: Aye, the test is going well, I'm sure we'll have a new member during meeting time. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Good to hear :}

Eonwe Valar: Web:
Eonwe Valar: New Article by that Varda person:
VardaValar1: Who? ;-)
Eonwe Valar: (Straight from the News Page->-) The First Conflict of the Battles of Beleriand by Varda-(Valar). This article is research in response to a question over which is truly the first battle of Beleriand, with an explanation of where confusion might be caused.
Indis V: oh her! ;-)
Eonwe Valar: ... That should be _> ) after the word "Page" at the beginning..
VardaValar1: Now that was interesting. Eonwe noticed that some copies have the index corrected and some do not.
Eonwe Valar: or -> ) rather
Eonwe Valar: Aye, my Houghton Mifflin Silmarillion correctly directs me to the battle where the Elves of Ossiriand joined in, and where many were lost because they were lightly armoured.
VardaValar1: We wondered if other people are also showing a difference in their copies. If you happen to have a Sil handy?
VardaValar1: We may have to put full references rather than just Tolkien book names on our articles, or at least certain ones.
ArPharazonV: I know my Silmarillion speaks of a battle, aye, fought in Beleriand before the Noldor arrived
ArPharazonV: the king of the Elves of Ossiriand was slain when surrounded on a hill, I think?
ArPharazonV: had a familiar name too...
ArPharazonV: Denethor?
VardaValar1: Aye
VardaValar1: Denethor was first an elf name. :-)
VardaValar1: A number of Gondorians seem to use elf names.
Eonwe Valar: No one else with a Sil within reach, eh? :}
AriehnV: if i only knew what happened to that copy ..
ArPharazonV: sorry, I gathered most of my books upstairs for my reading and crosschecking
AriehnV: vanished .. spelled away by the Dark Lord
Eonwe Valar: ok, np :}
ArPharazonV: only HoME 6 and 7 are probably still lying around here, hidden behind books and cds...
Eonwe Valar: hehe
top

Eonwe Valar: On to Gaming:
Eonwe Valar: WoW:
Eonwe Valar: Pilgrim's Bounty is over. Hope you all who were trying to got to complete it. I was 3 Rogues short.
Eonwe Valar: Hope you all also got your WoW 5th Anniversary Feat of Strength and pet on your characters while you had a chance.
ArPharazonV: Aw. I got all mine pretty fast, though I had to stalk Dalaran for troll and orc
Eonwe Valar: Lothar: Grouping by several of us. I spent most of my week working, unfortunately.
VardaValar1: Didn't quite collect enough shooters. We kept running instances. :-)
VardaValar1: We had a wild Lothar server week though. Major running, leveling. Instances.
Eonwe Valar: Merry was in and got a few levels as well :}
VardaValar1: Meriadoc, Elwing, Arwen and the entire Laytonrim.
VardaValar1: Varda also picked up a level
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
VardaValar1: Hantal :-)
ArPharazonV: grats :-)
ArPharazonV: to all who levelled
Eonwe Valar: Uldaman: I'm guessing most of the time was spent on Lothar, so probably not much to say from Uldaman :}
VardaValar1: Sadly so.
VardaValar1: Wanted to go there, but had to focus somehow. : )
Eonwe Valar: :}
AriehnV: Hehe Ariehn got the big 80 :-D
VardaValar1: Eowyn leveled too.
VardaValar1: Ohh, grats!
Eonwe Valar: Congrats to Arien and Eowyn :}
Eonwe Valar: LotRO:
Eonwe Valar: Siege of Mirkwood coming out December 1st.
Indis V: grats (80 is cap?_
Indis V: )
Eonwe Valar: 80 is the cap in WoW right now, Aye.
VardaValar1: Aye
AriehnV: aye :-)
Eonwe Valar: Both LotRO and WoW are only adding 5 levels with their respective next expansions.
AriehnV: will be what 85? in expansion
Eonwe Valar: So 65/85, respectively.
VardaValar1: Aye
Eonwe Valar: We've had plenty going on in LotRO so far as I can tell :} I even got a couple of levels and some profession training in on my Captain, and some AH luck for once :}
AriehnV: i got 24 on my runekeeper
Indis V: nice==maybe you'll want to spend more time with us :-)
Indis V: My new captain is trying to get to 25 today
AriehnV: i ve decided to make her probably my main after the burglor to 35 .. thre is always a resser short in instances its the old pain
Eonwe Valar: I almost got with Tulkas for some stuff in Angmar this morning (He's caught up to within 2 levels of my Champion), but desire for sleep caught up with me, hehe.
fladrifv has left the room.
AriehnV: i ll be on tomorrow afternoon a bit indis and maybe after the meeting for a while :-) , tomorrow and tuesday
Indis V: *nod*
Indis V: I'm in California, on Pacific time, and visiting family, so my time is not normal
Indis V: am on as I can be, but for example, tonight dinner with father and family
Eonwe Valar: Well, make sure you enjoy that dinner :}
VardaValar1: Enjoy the family too! : )
Indis V: I am. It's been a good visit. (My father is 91)
Eonwe Valar: Congrats to your father. That's quite an accomplishment.
VardaValar1: That bodes well for you!
Indis V: and no cognitive loss
VardaValar1: That is great!
Eonwe Valar: Ok, is there any other gaming anyone would like to mention, and feel free to whisper me Tolkien topics at this time, or you get one of mine :}
AriehnV: on the achievement in wow i d like to mention that my Findu got the Turkinator done , the Pilgrim Paunch, Pilgrims Progress and a few minor ones
AriehnV: and he is 54 now :-)
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
VardaValar1: Grats : )
AriehnV: had a fun run in BRD this afternoon with a twinked pug but it was great
AriehnV: 49 to 51 when we started with a 55
ArPharazonV: oh
ArPharazonV: I played some SC this week, but couldn't cut through the final BW mission so I had to give up after some time
Eonwe Valar: Yeah, that last one is a toughie as I recall.
ArPharazonV: instead I ashamedly used a few cheats to see the end of the story, and have since moved on trying to figure out what new games to play, with some possibilities...
ArPharazonV: but I'll most likely take a bit of a break from the RTS genre and find something else to play :-)
ArPharazonV: and I have a question for Tolkien, shouldn't have to take long, but would like to ask it during the meeting today
VardaValar1: Like LotRO on Turbine...
Eonwe Valar: :}
ArPharazonV: not an MMO, no, I'm talking about something I can actually play through to the end in weeks/months :-)
Boromhir: Heroes of Might and Magic :P
Eonwe Valar: Well, if you haven't don't it, found it/bought it yet, you could look for Sierra's War of the Ring Game. It's fun enough, and should be pretty cheap by now if you can find it at all.
Eonwe Valar: *haven't done it
karakedi25 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: The map editor is not any better than WC2's though.
ArPharazonV: Hmm. When I said some possibilities I meant games I already have and still need to play, but thanks for the advice anyway :-)
Eonwe Valar: ok, hehe.
Eonwe Valar: Any other gaming?
Indis V has left the room.
VardaValar1: We are losing people fast. Eonwe needs to afk a few minutes.
top

Eonwe Valar: On to Tolkien then.
Indis V has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Welcome back
Indis V: thanks. computer crashed
VardaValar1: Phar, what is your question?
Eonwe Valar: Varda's got the comm for a minute or two :}
ArPharazonV: ah yes, while checking the internet for books I came across a title I hadn't heard yet
ArPharazonV: called "The History of The Hobbit"
ArPharazonV: which is supposed to be like The History of Middle Earth, but filling the gap, so to speak, by another author
Indis V: Is that the same as the Annotated hobb it?
Indis V: then it's different
AriehnV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_History_of_The_Hobbit
ArPharazonV: and I was wondering if anyone had ever seen it here, or read it, and could say a few words about what it's like :-)
VardaValar1: It sounds more like fan fic. : )
ArPharazonV: that's the one, yes, that Arien linked
VardaValar1: Someone gettihng ready for the movie.
ArPharazonV: nah, he made it while working with the Estate, using draft manuscripts and everything
ArPharazonV: though slightly recent, yes
ArPharazonV: from 2007
AriehnV: from what i understand it deals with notes and manuscript that the Grandmaster himself wrote but that Christopher didnt use
AriehnV: and The Hobbit specific
ArPharazonV: *nod* Christopher had his (good) reasons to exclude The Hobbit from HoME, but personally I would've liked to see him include it
ArPharazonV: so I'm thinking of looking into this book
ArPharazonV: but I thought I'd get some opinions if anyone here happened to own it
ArPharazonV: but judging by your silence I guess it's new to you also :-)
VardaValar1: the task was given to Taum Santoski in the 1980s. It says. I wonder who gave him the task?
VardaValar1: This comment makes me want to buy it:
VardaValar1: Rateliff submitted a finished draft of the book to Christopher Tolkien, who, approving of the work, gave The History of The Hobbit his personal blessing to be published in association with his father’s other works.
ArPharazonV: the context appears to imply Christopher, who also gave his approval of the finished draft
ArPharazonV: aye
VardaValar1: Christopher didn't do it because:
VardaValar1: The Hobbit was not originally a part of the Middle-earth universe and was attached to his father's earlier, far darker legendarium only superficially, although the existence of The Hobbit forever altered the legendarium
VardaValar1: .
VardaValar1: Thank you. We now know what to ask for for Christmas. :-)
ArPharazonV: :-)
ArPharazonV: I know and understand his reason, but still I would've liked to read it if he had included it ;-)
ArPharazonV: always felt as a bit of a gap in the history to me
ArPharazonV: allright, you're welcome, just felt I had to bring it to the Guild's attention :-)
VardaValar1: Thank you very much!
VardaValar1: That is well-timed coming out before the movies.
VardaValar1: I hope they use it.
AriehnV: when is the film due to come out?
VardaValar1: No time line yet.
ArPharazonV: It also details Tolkien’s various revisions to The Hobbit, including abandoned revisions for the unpublished third edition of the work, intended for 1960, as well as previously unpublished original maps and illustrations drawn by Tolkien himself.
VardaValar1: It's definitely a 2-movie set.
ArPharazonV: This looks very interesting.
ArPharazonV: I've also never read the original first edition, so I'd like to see what exactly changed between 1 and 2 as well
VardaValar1: Those books coming out are part of why we are not allowed to put those maps and drawings online. They seem to think it will hurt sales. Not.
ArPharazonV: ohh, you might be on to something there... when was it that you got the warnings from the Estate?
VardaValar1: The Riddle Game is supposed to have changed. How Bilbo got the Ring, as at first, the Ring was not so important.
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya.
VardaValar1: We got the first warnings before the map books came out.
ArPharazonV: *nod* I know the general differences, but I wonder if there's any first edition versions in there of the particular sequence ;-)
ArPharazonV: ahh
VardaValar1: So most of us online types are shy of using any of JRRT's original stuff. We get warnings on all of it.
VardaValar1: Aiya Menel :-)
VardaValar1: I've been seeing more copies of whole chunks of his text, whole poems etc.
VardaValar1: I wonder how they get away with it, and if it is no longer being enforced as hard.
VardaValar1: Or if we are going to see a crackdown coming.
ArPharazonV: I wonder where the line of copyright is drawn, to be honest
VardaValar1: It is supposed to be Fair use.
ArPharazonV: when we quote a few sentences from the books in our meetings, which go publically online, are we breaking the law?
VardaValar1: You can use an amount of it needed to show your point in your article, not the whole thing.
VardaValar1: No.
AriehnV: aiya Menel :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya Menel!
VardaValar1: That is how Fair use works.
VardaValar1: It should not be necessary to quote an entire work.

VardaValar1: We have most of our RP people here. : )
ArPharazonV: other than that, the reason I found the book was because I was looking to find Pictures and Adventures again, without much luck
VardaValar1: Like to take a quick peek and see where we are and maybe do a round of posts? : )
Eonwe Valar: Back.
VardaValar1: Aiyata, meldo : )
ArPharazonV: hmm, I guess I could try writing one, it's still early
VardaValar1: Might even get Menel in on it this time!
Eonwe Valar: Hantal :}
Menelvagor Valar: le que?

Menelvagor Valar: AaaaaaaaaahhhhH!!!!!!!
ArPharazonV: ...
Eonwe Valar: Real Monsters?
Menelvagor Valar: Brain bugs!
Eonwe Valar: Sorry, had to make the reference :}
ArPharazonV: riiight... I'll go check the forum while I'll leave you to your insanity
Menelvagor Valar: Some really scary brain bug monster called "RL" ate some of my memories, which just now returned to me.
Eonwe Valar: RL Stine? :}
Menelvagor Valar: Today was supposed to be a really special meeting for me.
ArPharazonV: But you forgot?
ArPharazonV: oh wait, your anniversary isn't it?
AriehnV: i can tell you one thing .. Frali wont be pleased to have slept throught the fun :-D
Menelvagor Valar: RL has kept me so occupied the thought completely vanished from my mind :-(
Menelvagor Valar: and yes.
Indis V: wd
Eonwe Valar: Congrats and Happy Anniversay :}
Indis V: the fun is just beginning :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Yesterday (november 29th) was my 10th anniversary.
AriehnV: hey great your still in :-)
Indis V: grats!
Eonwe Valar: So you finally caught up to me :}
Menelvagor Valar: thanksies!
ArPharazonV: Congratulations :-)
AriehnV: *hugs Menel *
Menelvagor Valar: we weren't much apart anyways Eonwe *wink*
Menelvagor Valar: And even though RL has been eating at me lately, it's great to know that I still have my (online) home to return to!
ArPharazonV: bite back!
Menelvagor Valar: So, if I may say a few words in commemoration and stuff? :-D
Eonwe Valar: Go ahead :}
Menelvagor Valar: Thanks, I won't take much time... :-)
Menelvagor Valar: I'd "just" like to say that when I found the Valar Guild 10 and a half years ago, and joined only a few months later, I could never have imagined that I would fit in so well, or feel so at home here.
Menelvagor Valar: I remember being in awe of the wealth of knowledge that some, and indeed most our members have where Tolkien, and even a large variety of different topics, is concerned.
Menelvagor Valar: In fact, sometimes I am still awed at times :-).
Menelvagor Valar: I remember fondly the old days of Diablo 1 and 2, of Warcraft III, the TFT expansion, DAoC and even the days we had in WoW.
VardaValar1: We are very glad you made your home here. : )
Menelvagor Valar: And so am I!
Menelvagor Valar: I also remember quite fondly the blast I had learning how to type at lightning speed while trying to keep up the discussions in old b.net meetings, as well as half a dozen whispered conversations.
Menelvagor Valar: I can truthfully say, that if there was no Valar Guild for me, I'd be different person today.
Menelvagor Valar: I remember I used to pester Varda quite a bit for a promotion in days long past, but only when I was given the honor and privilege of that promotion, did I truly recognize what it was.
Menelvagor Valar: I'll not bore you with details, but suffice it to say, at that time, I really learned the value of duty, honor and responsibility.
Menelvagor Valar: In more humorful words, I still have the ambition to rise to Vala one day, but now I know that it's a path I am (still) not ready to tread. One day though... one day I'll make everyone tremble.... with lots of solar flares and stuff *grin*
Eonwe Valar: hehe
Menelvagor Valar: I just got a hint in side chat it would not be a bad idea to give an example of what I thought before :-)
VardaValar1: The idea is to have control and not make them feel a need to tremble, but to feel wanted. :-)
VardaValar1: self-control, I mean. : )
Menelvagor Valar: So, just as a short example, I used to aspire to the Maia and Vala "ranks" for the title and what I thought was prestige and respect.
Menelvagor Valar: I have learned long since it's not the title that earns that respect, but our actions.
Menelvagor Valar: And among our numbers are many people, if not all, who deserve all the respect in the world.
ArPharazonV: actions give respect, titles give responsibility ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: Aye.
Indis V: very well said!
Menelvagor Valar: So, to conclude this little speech, of course, words of thanks cannot be left out.
ArPharazonV: hmm, Tulkas was (and is again) online, have we tried to invite him?
VardaValar1: Aye, twice. Eonwe and me
VardaValar1: Not working so far
Menelvagor Valar: I'd like to thank all the members of the Valar Guild, even those I've never had the honor to meet personally (online or otherwise), for without you, the Valar Guild would not be the place it is today.
VardaValar1: Each member makes the guild, and is an ambassador.
Menelvagor Valar: I'd like to give special thanks to Ar-Pharazon and Arien, for the fun they've given me on Argent Dawn, and even more special thanks to Arien for working tirelessly at making an Argent Dawn chapter work even though I had already given up.
Menelvagor Valar: I cannot say it enough, thanks for that Arien!
Menelvagor Valar: A very special thanks to Eonwe, who has been my companion for all these years and as faithful as anyone can ever hope to have a friend.
VardaValar1: Giving up does not get one very far forward. : )
VardaValar1: You've stuck with us.
Menelvagor Valar: My biggest thanks, however, goes to Varda, in whom I have found a kindred spirit, a heart so kind I would not thought to meet in this world, and someone I have come to view like a mother.
Menelvagor Valar: Varda, even if the world would perish around us, know that you will forever live in my heart.
VardaValar1: That is so sweet. Thank you. : )
Menelvagor Valar: And now that I am done with the mushy stuff, let's make it another 10 unforgettable years, shall we? *smiles broadly*
Eonwe Valar: Hear hear! :}
VardaValar1: At least! : )
ArPharazonV: let's make it 100!
ArPharazonV: and eleven
AriehnV: *smiles sadly but honestly at Menel" , somebody had to try i am not one easy to give up on anything and it was a long hard fight until i accepted it
Menelvagor Valar: I'd say one step at a time, but then again, some of us have mighty long steps. *winks at Varda and her very own Ent, Fangorn*
Indis V: A splendid testament to the Valar Guild, its leaders, and it's spirit!
ArPharazonV: Sometimes it pays to hope, even for an unreachable goal :-)
AriehnV: taking a defeat is never easy and espcially for me , Menel :-) but one has to learn to even do that and still not sink in misery , grin
VardaValar1: I was told we couldn't have this guild, that it was impossible, to walk away. I have trouble walking away. : )
Menelvagor Valar: Very true Arien, for even in defeat we can hope, and hold our heads high when we have something so special as the Valar Guild to return to!
AriehnV: but nice little testimony and really moving and i am proud to call you a guid and hopefully a friend :-)
AriehnV: *guild mate*
Menelvagor Valar: You are my friend Arien, and it's my honor to be called yours *smiles*
ArPharazonV: where would the Fellowship be without hope beyond hope? Or Beren and Luthien, or Earendil?
AriehnV: :-D
VardaValar1: Or the Fellowship without Estel? : )
ArPharazonV: as a Tolkien guild, it is practically our duty and responsibility to embrace hope even if we cannot foresee that hope coming true :-)
VardaValar1: Hope means you aren't sure it will come. : )
AriehnV: which is why i refuse to disband the Valar guild on Argent Dawn , alas :-)
ArPharazonV: and I am grateful for you being here, Menelvagor! As Turgon you welcomed me the night I first came into the Valar-channel on battle.net, and as Gondoline you welcomed me on the first day I went into World of Warcraft, and both experiences have been vital in my integration into this community :-)
ArPharazonV: you thank us all, but for sure we would all have been the poorer if you too had not influenced our lives as well :-)
ArPharazonV: So thank you for being here!
Menelvagor Valar: I could say "well... doh!", but I think that would be a bit too arrogant, so I'll just say "thanks! *blush*"
AriehnV: not to mention the first few steps you two tooke me through :-)
AriehnV: and Fladrif at the time and Valandil

ArPharazonV: did I leave the channel?
ArPharazonV: nah, it's just quiet :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Not to my knowledge.
AriehnV: no all are here
Eonwe Valar: No, you're here. :}
VardaValar1: I'm here : )
ArPharazonV: sorry, 7 minutes of silence made me worried ;-) [note: Varda was working with the person she was testing in LotRO]
Eonwe Valar: Hehe.
Menelvagor Valar: I have this feeling people are either mulling over their own memories or just cooed into silence... or engrossed in other things going on around them ^^
Eonwe Valar: I didn't want to interrupt :}
Menelvagor Valar: didn't want to interrupt the silence? ^^
ArPharazonV: personally I'm rereading the rp to respond but I also felt that my say was done and was waiting for others to speak ;-)

Eonwe Valar: If we're ready to turn our attention to the RP, I'd note that we know what Frali is dreaming, but not what Estarion is dreaming :}
ArPharazonV: 's about time I made a move, maybe helped with the pole
Menelvagor Valar: right, that's among the things that have escaped my attention the past months.
ArPharazonV: I haven't posted since we left the Halls
ArPharazonV: even Menel posted later than me!
VardaValar1: I'm the last one to post. *relaxes and lets the others work a while*
Eonwe Valar: I figured that since today is your Anniversary, Estarion should be dreaming of some celebration of some sort :}
Menelvagor Valar: I'll take a look at what I missed right now :-)
Menelvagor Valar: hehe.
Menelvagor Valar: maybe.
AriehnV: *grin Fr* Frali hugs his elven maid
ArPharazonV: hmm... the cake is a lie, as they say?
ArPharazonV: a dream, and illusion? ;-)
ArPharazonV: *an
AriehnV: the pole :-)
AriehnV: an illusion so then
Eonwe Valar: Ok, Let's do a quick recap of what everyone is and what they're doing..
Eonwe Valar: *where everyone is.
Eonwe Valar: Fainan: On the western shore opposite the Halls side.
Menelvagor Valar: not much I have missed, just a quick few minutes of reading really :-)
Eonwe Valar: She's holding the pole trying to keep the dreamers in one spot.
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: I'm not quite able to pull them onto shore alone. Asking for help.
Eonwe Valar: Auros: Holding onto the suspended rope, standing on the boat, reaching for either Frali or Estarion, whichever happens to be closer.
Eonwe Valar: I wasn't quite sure which was closer at the time.
ArPharazonV: Fainan is not on the western shore is she? one of her posts implies she was halfway across the stream when trying to aid
ArPharazonV: poling the raft back
ArPharazonV: or well, partially along the way
ArPharazonV: but i haven't read up to the end yet
Eonwe Valar: I got the impression she was pretty much to the shore when Frali stodo up and went over. She was able to leap ashore at least.
VardaValar1: The ferry is still attached by the rope on either side.
VardaValar1: The ferry is in easy hopping distance of the shore. Fainan kinda pole-vaulted.
VardaValar1: *ropes
ArPharazonV: ah, you jumped across
ArPharazonV: see, hadn't gotten that far
ArPharazonV: I'll be quiet now
Eonwe Valar: While holding the dreamers in place?
Menelvagor Valar: already writing my reply :-)
Eonwe Valar: Cool :}
fladrifv has entered the room.
fladrifv: Aiya
VardaValar1: The dreamers are holding the pole.
Eonwe Valar: Heya Fladrif :}
ArPharazonV: Aiyata :-)
VardaValar1: Fainan left the pole grounded under the water and pole-vaulted, couldn't pull it up with the two holding on. Too much weight.
VardaValar1: Aiya Fladrif!
Menelvagor Valar: well, Frali is holding the pole, I am holding Frali's belt ^^
fladrifv: sorry must have misstyped the channel name :-)
fladrifv: noone was there
Eonwe Valar: You're here now is all that's important :}
Menelvagor Valar: I wonder though, what exactly are the effects of the enchanted river, and how quickly is one able to "shrug it off"?
ArPharazonV: you were here at the start, but left for some reason
Menelvagor Valar: or recover from its effects would be more apt.
ArPharazonV: allright, I've read up, but I'll wait for Menel's reply before I make a move
Eonwe Valar: Landing in the water causes one to dream of feasts.
ArPharazonV: in a situation like this, conflicting posts at the same time are quite easy
ArPharazonV: to Dwarves it does, at least, Eonwe :-)
Eonwe Valar: I would imagine exposure determines recovery time, as well as personal factors like strength of will, etc.
Menelvagor Valar: must it be feasts, or is that an assumption based on what we know from tales of those who have been under the enchantment so far?
ArPharazonV: all I know is Bombur, I assumed Arien was inspired by that tale
AriehnV: aye i thought of Bombur a bit
AriehnV: indeed Phara
Eonwe Valar: I think the Hobbit specifies Elven feasts, but I can double-check that if I can dig out my copy of the Hobbit from whereever I left it.
ArPharazonV: doesn't necessarily have to be the same for everyone, and so far it has just been for 2 dwarves
VardaValar1: Bombur's love was food, so that might be why he saw feasts. Plus they were starving and it was uppermost in their minds.
Menelvagor Valar: Is there any lore on how it affects Elves?
ArPharazonV: also, the actual feasts were being held at that occasion further along the wood, which may have influenced his dream subconsciously/magically
ArPharazonV: I saw that as the reason why he dreamt of it but I might be wrong ;-)
VardaValar1: Also it was a book intended for younger folk.
ArPharazonV: pff, that never stopped our speculation :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Well, here's what I have in mind then:
VardaValar1: I just mean that's one reason the dreams are kept quite clean. : )
Menelvagor Valar: I intend to have Estarion revisit an earlier memory, partly sparked by actual happenings around him.

AriehnV: (btw refernce to the intro about the first battle in Beleriand .. i checked my German edition .. Denethor was the son of Lenwe , a nephew of Ingwe and Finwe if i remember right, and he was King of the Nandor Elves who came to the help of Thingol when Morgoths Orcs invaded ossiriand. He got cut off from Thingols forces, surrounded on Amon Ereb, and killed their with his closest kin who were at his side at the time. The Nandorian Elves never took a king after that and mostly merged with Thingol;s people)
VardaValar1: Sounds right from memory.
ArPharazonV: a nephew of Ingwe and Finwe? sounds odd
AriehnV: whoever Lenwe was he was his son
VardaValar1: I don't know about the nephew thing, but the general even is right.
ArPharazonV: True.
VardaValar1: *event

AriehnV: ok carry on with rp :-)
ArPharazonV: Menel, anything outside the dream I should be aware of while I write my reply, or should I just wait until yours is done? :-)
VardaValar1: You guys don't have to be completely in the dream either. That's why I had the heavy rain.
VardaValar1: You are partly aware, the reason you can grab the pole etc.
AriehnV: aye so i understood
ArPharazonV: offered a broom, hm? :-)
VardaValar1: Events outside of you may affect you a little. You may also incorporate them into the dreaming.
VardaValar1: hehe
AriehnV: thats why Frali can react to real things happening even though his mind doesnt quite perceive the truth heh
VardaValar1: That idea, aye.
VardaValar1: Aye, Arien
Menelvagor Valar: Ok, I posted :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Any thoughts? :-)
VardaValar1: Yikes would be my first thought. : )
Menelvagor Valar: hehe :-)
ArPharazonV: A chance for Calion, captain of Mirkwood, to show his valor! *jumps out and reaches for Estarion's hand*
Menelvagor Valar: but does it sound realistic?
ArPharazonV: That might be part of my post which I am writing at the moment. I'm not sure yet.
Menelvagor Valar: just a reminder, I am further out than Frali :-)
ArPharazonV: chances are if I try to reach out, I'll take a tumble myself
Menelvagor Valar: Auros is much more likely to grab my hand.
ArPharazonV: especially, yes, since you're further out :-)
Eonwe Valar: ok, here is the warning Beorn gave the Dwarves...
Eonwe Valar: "There is one stream there, I know, black and strong which crosses the path. That you should never drink of, nor bathe in; for I have heard that it carries enchantment and a great drowsiness and forgetfulness."
ArPharazonV: I'll give as excuse that when Fainan started going back with the boat, Calion walked over to the horses and is therefore a bit late in helping :-)
fladrifv: namarie all, let me spell it right the next time :-)
ArPharazonV: Namarie Flad!
VardaValar1: The horses are being fractious.
VardaValar1: Namarie!
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well Fladrif :}
Menelvagor Valar: Namarie Fladrif!
Menelvagor Valar: May your long strides not overtake your bed!
ArPharazonV: hmm, Calion has a pole too, doesn't he? I assume we both used poles in the crossing?
ArPharazonV: what happens to that thing when Fainan went back with the boat?
Menelvagor Valar: Perhaps, but I won't be grabbing the post, I'd be going instinctively for my sword hanging at my waste, so unless you manage to plunge the pole into the water exactly next to my sword, I'd say your chances are dim for me to grab it :-)
ArPharazonV: no, I'm just wondering where I'm placing it.. on the far shore? or does Fainan take it back?
ArPharazonV: or do I still have it when the incident happens?
fladrifv has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar: At any rate.
Menelvagor Valar: I am at the moment more concerned whether it's realistic what I am saying.
Menelvagor Valar: After all, I am implying that even though I am under the enchantment, I am still attuned enough to my surroundings to figure that something is quite wrong.
VardaValar1: Yes, you are slightly aware.
Eonwe Valar: Also of note is that at the path, the Enchanted river was about 12 yards across :}
Menelvagor Valar: True.
Menelvagor Valar: Maybe a yard or two more with the swell of the rain though?
Menelvagor Valar: and since the current should be stronger, due to the same rain, I should also be further away from the boat than Frali is, right?
VardaValar1: Aye, add a couple of yards. :-)
Eonwe Valar: 12 yards is already long enough to need a boat, but aye. Likely.
VardaValar1: The Hobbit mentions a boat
Eonwe Valar: Aye.
ArPharazonV: aye, and they had to use it, though a deer lept over it without effort, seemingly
Eonwe Valar: Apparently Thorin couldn't see 12 yards too well either :}
ArPharazonV: no, Bilbo and Balin saw the boat, and Balin only when Bilbo pointed it out, I think?
ArPharazonV: *only Bilbo and Balin
Menelvagor Valar: Anyways, this question for future reference, slightly aware means that even if I get pulled out, I'll still be more or less asleep for a couple hours, correct?
Eonwe Valar: Sounds like it.
Eonwe Valar: The deer didn't make it all the way across, by the wat :}
Eonwe Valar: *way
Menelvagor Valar: So, basically, "if" I get pulled out, my actions in the upcoming battle are to dream further of my memories, instilled by actual surroundings :-)

VardaValar1: We have a new member!
Menelvagor Valar: oooooh.
VardaValar1: Elemmire-(V)!
Eonwe Valar: ok, it made it across, except for THorin shooting it.
Menelvagor Valar: Congrats to Elemmire-(V)!
ArPharazonV: grats :-)
Eonwe Valar: Hail and welcome to the Valar Guild, Elemmire-(V)! :}

ArPharazonV: weren't there 2 deer, and he only shot the second one?
ArPharazonV: I remember one disappearing in the bushes
Eonwe Valar: Just the one as far as I can tell.
Menelvagor Valar: Btw, is it possible for an elf to sleep-walk?
Eonwe Valar: Normal sleeping(for Elves), I believe Legolas has done it.
ArPharazonV: eh, I'll look it up for next week I suppose, about the deer, but I suppose you're probably right, as always
VardaValar1: Elves do sleepwalk
Eonwe Valar: I had the book in front of me, only reason I know about the deer :}
ArPharazonV: *subtly references Bilbo and Gandalf in Fotr*
Menelvagor Valar: so, quite technically it's possible for elves to "sleep-fight"? ^^
VardaValar1: Legolas is shown to sleepwalk, a waking dream. So he didn't need to lie down to sleep as often.
VardaValar1: Not very well.
ArPharazonV: maybe you can distract an orc with a well-placed yawn...
Menelvagor Valar: but under enchantment, a possibility?
Eonwe Valar: I'm not sure I'd count on a sleep-fighting (insert any race here) to do very well :}
VardaValar1: Meren is standing by with a potion or salve to get you out from under the influence.
VardaValar1: You are not far under.
VardaValar1: Need to get you out of the river water. The rain will help wash it off.
Menelvagor Valar: true, but as my post suggests, I am in a heightened state of alert, which would make taking a simple potion or salve a bit more difficult.
Boromhir has left the room.
VardaValar1: I think it was external. : )
VardaValar1: Could get interesting, aye. : )
Eonwe Valar: A salve would be, aye. Wouldn't haev to force it down his throat, just hold him still.
VardaValar1: May need pinned down, taking someone away from protecting you.
Eonwe Valar: Could get very tricky if we're also under attack.
Eonwe Valar: ok, Menel... last sentence of your post..
Eonwe Valar: Estarion figured it would be best if he got his sword out to defend himself, and as the thought formed, he started to let go...
Eonwe Valar: I assume that means let go of Frali?
ArPharazonV: or the pole, if he held it
VardaValar1: Started to means he hasn't let go quite yet.
VardaValar1: But we might see his hand slipping.
Eonwe Valar: Didn't think he'd grabbed the pole.
Indis V: Meren has alerted Fainan about the likely presence of orcs...that's a major complication
Menelvagor Valar has left the room.
VardaValar1: Hithceleb has been told to guard, to quiet the mare, and she's upset by the presence of at least one orc.
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Sulenar's just standing there anxious to get moving again :}
Eonwe Valar: Welcome back Menel :}
Menelvagor Valar: Yes Eonwe, that meant letting go of Frali's belt.
Menelvagor Valar: and thanks :-)
Eonwe Valar: Ok, gotcha :}
Menelvagor Valar: sorry, computer seemed to freeze up.
Menelvagor Valar: could receive all messages, but type none, nor use keyboard for anything else or even mouse.
Eonwe Valar: So seeing that, Auros, initially reaching for Frali, would probably switch to grabbing Estarion.
Eonwe Valar: Odd.
Menelvagor Valar: just a comp quirk I assume.
VardaValar1: I keep forgetting to call in Luthien for the Tolkien part. ><
VardaValar1: I need a reminder person, or someone else willing to do that.
Eonwe Valar: I always send out an invitation at the beginning, and she's included.
VardaValar1: Just realized when I saw her "leaving" message.
VardaValar1: She only wants to come to the Tolkien section.
Eonwe Valar: She doesn't reject the invitation as far as I can tell from my end, so she could always just wait till about 30-45 minute into the meeting and pop in to see how close we are.
Menelvagor Valar: that doesn't work.
ArPharazonV: post made
ArPharazonV: don't suppose "poling" is a (clean?) verb, to be used?
Menelvagor Valar: I popped the button an hour into the meeting, and the invitation timed out.
Menelvagor Valar: I think it is actually :P
ArPharazonV: good, good
VardaValar1: It's a good word.
VardaValar1: Used by polers. : )
Eonwe Valar: As far as I know, though I think it would refer to either pole-vaulting, or doing what Faian did, using a pole to move a boat through the water.
Eonwe Valar: *Fainan
ArPharazonV: yes, it was the latter meaning I was referring to
ArPharazonV: since Varda and I established in a side-chat that we would be alternating the "poling" on trips without horses
Menelvagor Valar: ewww.... for some very odd reason I just thought of something very ewwwish!
ArPharazonV: probably why I added "clean", Menel
Menelvagor Valar: which, of course, I am not going to elaborate here!
ArPharazonV: made a few minor edits
ArPharazonV: and now, I shall be off

Menelvagor Valar: Hmmm... I am afraid I may have found the cause for the comp issues.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar!
Eonwe Valar: Take care and sleep well Phar :}
ArPharazonV: virus?
Menelvagor Valar: Sleep well Pharzie.
Menelvagor Valar: Nah, game installer.
Menelvagor Valar: So I'll go for another reset :-)
ArPharazonV: :-)
ArPharazonV: I'll be saving and sending
ArPharazonV: though I'm sure Varda and Eonwe will take care of further discussion, though for some reason there never seems to be any after I leave >.>
VardaValar1: Great to have all the rp'ers at once.
VardaValar1: hehe
ArPharazonV: 29th today, right? well, where you are?
Eonwe Valar: Aye, 29th .
ArPharazonV (6:57:59 PM): saved
VardaValar1 (6:58:17 PM): 29th here
Eonwe Valar (6:58:47 PM): You know, I wonder if we're going to get to swim in the Enchanted River come December 1st :}
VardaValar1 (6:58:57 PM): ohh!
Eonwe Valar (6:58:58 PM): Or whenever that part of Mirkwood is added :}
ArPharazonV (6:59:18 PM): debuff: drowsiness?
VardaValar1 (6:59:20 PM): Probably not. It's the south side where Lorien is attacking Dol Guldur.
VardaValar1 (6:59:23 PM): hehe
ArPharazonV (6:59:28 PM): your screen becomes transparant and shows elven feasts...
Menelvagor Valar (6:59:29 PM) has left the room.
Indis V (7:00:01 PM): I'm fairly certain that the Elven King's realm will not be part of the expansion
Eonwe Valar (7:00:38 PM): I got the impression it should be at some point, just not until a few books in, or until the 3 volume starts, whichever.
VardaValar1 (7:00:55 PM): Not yet
VardaValar1 (7:01:04 PM): Rohan will come later in this expansion.
ArPharazonV (7:01:16 PM): *ponders* this was my first post in part 6
ArPharazonV (7:01:18 PM): silly me
Menelvagor Valar (7:01:24 PM) has entered the room.
VardaValar1 (7:01:28 PM): So probably a lot more coming.
VardaValar1 (7:01:32 PM): Welcome back :-)
Menelvagor Valar (7:01:34 PM): back again.
Menelvagor Valar (7:01:39 PM): thanks.
Eonwe Valar (7:01:41 PM): Welcome back :}
ArPharazonV (7:01:53 PM): Aiyata Menel
ArPharazonV (7:04:02 PM): aaand sent
ArPharazonV (7:04:17 PM): Namarie all~!
Eonwe Valar (7:04:18 PM): Take car eand read the Rp tomorrow morning :}
ArPharazonV (7:04:24 PM): morning? no
Eonwe Valar (7:04:25 PM): It'll have at least one new post :}
ArPharazonV (7:04:25 PM): I'll try evening :)
Eonwe Valar (7:04:28 PM): When you get a chance then :}
Indis V (7:04:29 PM): drat, I lost track of the time.  I have to leave for dinner at father's house.  Will have to read the log and rp and add as I can
VardaValar1 (7:04:31 PM): Another thing
VardaValar1 (7:04:34 PM): Namarie!
VardaValar1 (7:04:38 PM): Nearly done anyway :-)
Eonwe Valar (7:04:48 PM): Enjoy your family and dinner Indis :}

VardaValar1 (7:04:50 PM): With all that rain, the reek will be diminished greatly.
VardaValar1 (7:05:05 PM): Have a great dinner!
ArPharazonV (7:05:07 PM): well the horses have smelled it, so they're bound to be pretty close
VardaValar1 (7:05:19 PM): The reek from Dol Guldur.
ArPharazonV (7:05:19 PM): 's why I'm now occasionally looking downstream for signs of them
ArPharazonV (7:05:25 PM): hm?
ArPharazonV (7:05:30 PM): I thought you meant the Orcs
VardaValar1 (7:05:33 PM): hehe
ArPharazonV (7:05:34 PM): what reek are you talking about?
VardaValar1 (7:05:40 PM): from Dol Guldur
ArPharazonV (7:05:48 PM): have we seen this before?
ArPharazonV (7:05:52 PM): or... smelled?
VardaValar1 (7:05:54 PM): Also the one we added in-game more of.
VardaValar1 (7:05:57 PM): hehe
Indis V (7:06:03 PM): Namarie!
VardaValar1 (7:06:08 PM): We've been talking about it, yes.
Indis V (7:06:17 PM) has left the room.
ArPharazonV (7:06:20 PM): Ah.
Eonwe Valar (7:06:22 PM): Take care Indis :}
ArPharazonV (7:06:29 PM): Well, anyway, I'll be off.
VardaValar1 (7:06:32 PM): One of the things coming from the ruins of Angmar that we're checking into.
ArPharazonV (7:06:32 PM): namarie!
VardaValar1 (7:06:38 PM): Namarie!
ArPharazonV (7:06:56 PM): if you see a problem with my post (though not sure why you should) I'll find out about it eventually, next week if not sooner ;)
ArPharazonV (7:07:16 PM): *vanishes into his cave*
ArPharazonV (7:07:18 PM) has left the room.
VardaValar1 (7:09:26 PM): I hope others of you remember the reek. : )
Menelvagor Valar (7:09:51 PM): I hadn't to be honest :-)
VardaValar1 (7:10:36 PM): We used other words.
Eonwe Valar (7:10:50 PM): Reek as in smell? Didn't remember one coming from Dul Guldor.
VardaValar1 (7:11:20 PM): It was causing the corruption
VardaValar1 (7:11:28 PM): He was talking about smell, not me.
VardaValar1 (7:11:53 PM): As in that's what the darkness around Angband and Mordor are called.
Eonwe Valar (7:12:19 PM): If we're talking about the "Gulhuine," I started off this chapter with the idea that the rain had washed some of that out of the air.
Eonwe Valar (7:15:56 PM): Comments like "In places where the Eldar frequent, it was almost hard to imagien this place was called Mirkwood."
Eonwe Valar (7:16:03 PM): *imagine
VardaValar1 (7:17:11 PM): Right, that is what I meant. Thanks.
Eonwe Valar (7:17:22 PM): ok :}
Eonwe Valar (7:19:43 PM): You now have a bit for Auros to read :}
VardaValar1 (7:20:32 PM): It should mess with the local orcs and other baddies, especially Calion's other self. :-)
VardaValar1 (7:20:41 PM): Make him more able to resist possession maybe.
Eonwe Valar (7:20:43 PM): :}
Eonwe Valar (7:22:39 PM): Modified post a little bit. One too many mentions of the cloak in succession.
VardaValar1 (7:24:39 PM): hehe - understood!
AriehnV (7:25:07 PM): hehe who is to be waking up? Estarion? or both or Frali?
Menelvagor Valar (7:25:26 PM): me :P
Menelvagor Valar (7:25:30 PM): he's hauling me up I think :-)
Eonwe Valar (7:25:30 PM): Wayward dreamer = Estarion, since he's the one trying to float off :}
AriehnV (7:25:32 PM): aye :-)
VardaValar1 (7:25:38 PM): Any coming out of the water.
VardaValar1 (7:25:55 PM): Auros might pull up Estarion
VardaValar1 (7:26:21 PM): Without Estarion, Fainan can pull up Frali, especially if Meren is helping. Lot of armor!
Eonwe Valar (7:26:39 PM): Estarion would have to be the one Auros pulls out at this point. He had to let go of Frali just to make sure Estarion didn't float away, and since his other hand is holding onto the rope to make sure he doesn't go in,..
Eonwe Valar (7:27:09 PM): Assuming Estarion's cloak stays fastened about his neck, hehe.
VardaValar1 (7:27:23 PM): Choking him might prevent swallowing water. :-)
Eonwe Valar (7:27:28 PM): :}
Eonwe Valar (7:27:50 PM): Might translate in a dream to an orc wrapping his hands around his throat :}
Menelvagor Valar (7:29:42 PM): couldn't help but answer to that post.
VardaValar1 (7:30:10 PM): hehe
VardaValar1 (7:30:38 PM): The orcs coming from one side, dragging the drowning out, and a fight with you two on the ferry side. :-)
Menelvagor Valar (7:30:38 PM): slightly different than what you had expected, or it might have turned out to get Auros' hand chopped off ^^
Menelvagor Valar (7:31:25 PM): I have no intention of fighting Auros, except in training, we've already proven he's my better at swordsmanship :-)
VardaValar1 (7:34:34 PM): Not a real fight, as he's trying to save you and you're not exactly awake. :-)
Eonwe Valar (7:34:38 PM): Either way works :}
VardaValar1 (7:34:44 PM): But distracting!
VardaValar1 (7:35:02 PM): We are not all together in repelling orcs. So there will be individual action.
Menelvagor Valar (7:35:13 PM): aye :-)
Eonwe Valar (7:35:24 PM): Although  "Auros One-hand" doesn't sound quite as prestigious :}
VardaValar1 (7:35:28 PM): hehehe
VardaValar1 (7:35:34 PM): It worked for Maedhros. :-)
Menelvagor Valar (7:35:46 PM): though you, Calion and Auros will need to get free of distraction soon, or the only one doing any orc fighting will be the scholarly Meren :-D
Eonwe Valar (7:35:49 PM): Yeah, and he became a very deadly lefty :}
VardaValar1 (7:36:04 PM): Meren is helping drag Frali out of the water, maybe.

Menelvagor Valar (7:36:05 PM): I'm already a deadly lefty :P
Eonwe Valar (7:36:10 PM): :}
Menelvagor Valar (7:36:14 PM): don't need my right hand chopped off for that :-D
Eonwe Valar (7:36:21 PM): Nor do I :}
Eonwe Valar (7:36:43 PM): You know, my 2008 Lefty Calendar suggests Theoden was a lefty.
VardaValar1 (7:36:46 PM): Then the equivalent, lose the right.
VardaValar1 (7:36:54 PM): lose the left instead.
VardaValar1 (7:37:02 PM): The actor?
Eonwe Valar (7:37:18 PM): As I recall, it just said Theoden, nothing about the actor.
Eonwe Valar (7:37:35 PM): I don't recall anything to prove that, unfortunately.
Eonwe Valar (7:38:12 PM): Would be quite interesting. We don't get to hear the handedness of too many of Tolkien's characters.
VardaValar1 (7:38:36 PM): Lets us imagine them as the same handedness as ourselves? : )
Eonwe Valar (7:38:48 PM): We know about Maedhros because he lost his right hand. The majority are typically right-handed, but lefties tend to have the edge in combat.
Menelvagor Valar (7:38:52 PM): about 1 in 10 being lefties then.
Menelvagor Valar (7:39:02 PM): or is it closer to 1 in 25?
Eonwe Valar (7:39:06 PM): *majority of the human population anyway.
Eonwe Valar (7:39:15 PM): I think it's about 1 in 10.
VardaValar1 (7:39:33 PM): If they are left-eyed and left-handed, they are really good.
Menelvagor Valar (7:39:43 PM): well, I'd still rather not have to go against 9 righties if it comes to a war of lefties versus righties :-)
VardaValar1 (7:39:55 PM): hehehe - good point!
Eonwe Valar (7:40:02 PM): lol.
Menelvagor Valar (7:40:17 PM): besides, I can only wield my trusty scissors with my right hand, so I *may* throw my lot in with the righties ^^
VardaValar1 (7:40:46 PM): I could not feel "right" about going against people for being lefties. I have a lefty son too!
Eonwe Valar (7:40:50 PM): Well, consider if you had a skilled righty who could take 3-5 enemies at once..
Eonwe Valar (7:41:15 PM): Now make that guy a lefty with equal skill, and he gets the advantage that his enemies likely haven't fought enough lefties to be good against them.
Menelvagor Valar (7:41:39 PM): and the lefties most likely having to practice against righties...
Eonwe Valar (7:41:43 PM): Aye.
Menelvagor Valar (7:41:55 PM): which would come down to just about 4-6, or 5-7 enemies at once...
VardaValar1 (7:41:58 PM): True on the practice!
Menelvagor Valar (7:42:31 PM): coming down to just about 3 quarters of the world population be destroyed over yet another reason that no one ever bothered to consider completely and utterly stupid :-D
VardaValar1 (7:42:43 PM): So, that our next war? : )
Eonwe Valar (7:43:07 PM): We lefties will overthrow our right-handed opressors :}
Menelvagor Valar (7:43:10 PM): well, or some other trumped up reason that any intelligent person should be able to say that it was completely bollocks.
Menelvagor Valar (7:43:18 PM): yesh!
Menelvagor Valar (7:43:26 PM): lefty guitars for guitar hero!
Menelvagor Valar (7:43:38 PM): let the righties have to opt in the righty flip for a change!
Eonwe Valar (7:43:49 PM): Ned Flanders shall supplies our office goods!
Menelvagor Valar (7:43:58 PM): not to mention experience the whammy bar being on the wrong side!
Eonwe Valar (7:44:01 PM): Aye, hehe :}
VardaValar1 (7:44:01 PM): yay!
Eonwe Valar (7:45:57 PM): Left is West anyway, and anyone who reads Tolkien knows that West is good :}
Eonwe Valar (7:46:46 PM): One could say that it's East that's Sinister :}
VardaValar1 (7:47:11 PM): hmm - interesting. : )
Menelvagor Valar (7:47:39 PM): Well, that depends.
Menelvagor Valar (7:47:44 PM): are you facing north or south?
Eonwe Valar (7:48:07 PM): Reading a map, so north would be the direction you're facing :}
Menelvagor Valar (7:49:10 PM): isn't the Belt of Orion to the north though?
Menelvagor Valar (7:49:31 PM): or does that change depending on season? :-D
Eonwe Valar (7:49:42 PM): Think that depends on the season...
Menelvagor Valar (7:49:48 PM): and sorry, just joking around *grin*
Menelvagor Valar (7:49:56 PM): I'm in a giddy mood :-)
Eonwe Valar (7:50:10 PM): Constellations aren't my strongest spot though.
Menelvagor Valar (7:50:32 PM): nor mine :-)
Menelvagor Valar (7:50:48 PM): just that my mind is wandering on another certain shining star :-)
Menelvagor Valar (7:51:01 PM): aka a girl :-D
Eonwe Valar (7:51:04 PM): The tilt and location of the earth on its orbit would make the stars change locations slightly depending on season I'm sure.
Eonwe Valar (7:51:13 PM): hehe
Menelvagor Valar (7:51:30 PM): well, that's not exactly true either.
Menelvagor Valar (7:52:20 PM): though the stars are certain to orbit around a centerpoint in the galaxy, just as earth does around the sun, on a cosmic scale, it's earth that's changing position more than the stars do.
Eonwe Valar (7:52:47 PM): That's what I mean, changing position in the sky, not their absolulte position in relation to the galaxy.
Menelvagor Valar (7:52:57 PM): hehe :-)
Menelvagor Valar (7:53:12 PM): sorry, I must be in an extremely good mood to be so .... picky :-D
Eonwe Valar (7:53:30 PM): hehe
[Note: removed private conversation, nothing bad, just personal. ]
AriehnV (8:13:38 PM): Namarie for now
Eonwe Valar (8:13:46 PM): Sleep well Arien :}
Menelvagor Valar (8:13:48 PM): Namarie Arien!
VardaValar1 (8:13:55 PM): nighty night
AriehnV (8:14:05 PM) has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar (8:14:10 PM): sleep well, and may Ithil not chase you too hard this night!
Menelvagor Valar (8:14:17 PM): or whatever his name was *grin*
Eonwe Valar (8:14:30 PM): Tilion, Ithil/Isil = Moon, so close enough :}
Eonwe Valar (8:15:13 PM): Arien/Anar just seems to keep going, not too concerned about who's following :}
Menelvagor Valar (8:15:26 PM): Yeah, but was looking for the correct name, as Anor is not exactly, yet is, Arien :-D
Eonwe Valar (8:23:38 PM): I don't know what I'm going to do there, but I'm considering hopping into LotRO for a bit.
VardaValar1 (8:27:28 PM): Check your quest log? Epics?'
VardaValar1 (8:28:10 PM): I'm going to look around Lorien and see if I can tell where we are going to depart from.
Eonwe Valar (8:28:14 PM): I should probably char surf first, then I should probably try to get book 3 moving so I can get further into Angmar. I've got 2 light blue items specifically for Champions waiting on my ability to gather materials.
VardaValar1 (8:28:26 PM): Probably be special spot though.
VardaValar1 (8:28:37 PM): There's more than that.
VardaValar1 (8:28:46 PM): After those you go for a special trait. :-)
Eonwe Valar (8:28:47 PM): One's a weapon, one I don't think I've decided which I was going to take.
Eonwe Valar (8:29:02 PM): Cool :}
Eonwe Valar (8:29:31 PM): The quests are still orange to me, so I hope to get the items while they're still be a boon and not something I put away because I'm too much of a collector to sell them :}
Eonwe Valar (8:30:49 PM): *while they'll still be, or while they're still..
VardaValar1 (8:31:04 PM): AIM is killing me in LotrO
VardaValar1 (8:31:22 PM): Do you need Carn Dum and Urugarth for that/
VardaValar1 (8:31:24 PM): ?
Eonwe Valar (8:31:59 PM): Don't think so, yet. Gotta collect some warg stuff and spider stuff if memorey serves.
Eonwe Valar (8:32:23 PM): *memory, bah.
VardaValar1 (8:32:29 PM): okies - later
