VardaValar1 (4:13:14 PM): argh
VardaValar1 (4:13:17 PM): in LotRO.
VardaValar1 (4:13:28 PM): Sorry, a bit distracted for no good reason. : )

VardaValar1 (4:13:50 PM): Any other membership news?
VardaValar1 (4:14:37 PM): Phar playing WoW, I assume? Fladrif surfing? What is Eonwe up to?

VardaValar1 (4:16:18 PM):
Web:
VardaValar1 (4:16:54 PM): Eonwe and I have been updating our sites on
both the old and the new server, trying to be ready for the switchover
occurring on an unknown date.
VardaValar1 (4:17:06 PM): The domain name will point to the new server at that time.
VardaValar1 (4:17:41 PM): I have been gaming rather than properly tending to the Tolkien Site with new stuff.
VardaValar1 (4:18:06 PM): This is not fair to those who can't game and read the News frequently, and I hope to do better.
VardaValar1 (4:18:18 PM): Also, feel free to send in bits you'd like added to the News page. : )
VardaValar1 (4:18:37 PM): I check my email daily usually, although it may be at weird hours.
Eonwe Valar (4:19:22 PM): As do I, so don't be afriad to send in game reviews either :}
Eonwe Valar (4:19:33 PM): Or to keep your gaming information updated :}
VardaValar1 (4:19:59 PM): I've asked one of our LotRO people to send in
his review for the Zork text games. Should be a fun one if he does it.
: )
VardaValar1 (4:21:05 PM): Any other Web news?
VardaValar1 (4:21:38 PM): Anything you'd like to see more of from our site?
VardaValar1 (4:21:50 PM): Preference for articles, stories, poems, art?
VardaValar1 (4:22:10 PM): Elwing is working on some art. If she's satisfied with it, we may get to see it. : )
Eonwe Valar (4:22:15 PM): Cool :}
VardaValar1 (4:22:30 PM): Eonwe, you had a web problem to mention?
Eonwe Valar (4:23:09 PM): Yes. I've noticed the LotRo site doesn't work
for me in IE6 any more, and thought I'd see if anyone else here has the
problem.
Eonwe Valar (4:23:33 PM): Perhaps in any other browser, or if it's just localized to IE 6.
VardaValar1 (4:23:47 PM): Yet it seems to work on some other or newer browsers.
Eonwe Valar (4:23:52 PM) has left the room.
VardaValar1 (4:24:02 PM): and Eonwe crashes.
VardaValar1 (4:24:20 PM): Do help him out by checking the Games site on your own browsers, see if it comes up.
VardaValar1 (4:24:40 PM): We are going to have to pick on Eonwe to update his browser, most likely. : )
VardaValar1 (4:25:30 PM): He's in a side window and says:
VardaValar1 (4:25:33 PM): Eonwe Valar: "For about the last week, I've
noticed when I try to open the official LotRO site, my web browser
tells me it can't." is what I was getting ready to say..
VardaValar1 (4:25:51 PM): He's trying to enter the room but:
VardaValar1 (4:25:53 PM): Eonwe Valar: You cannot send an IM while an invitation is pending. is the message I'm getting.
VardaValar1 (4:26:30 PM): Anyone know how to cancel an invitation?

online chess tournament is progressing
Fladrifv:
http://gameknot.com/list-games.pl?mode=a&u=torenpaardloper
VardaValar1 (4:28:55 PM): Phar mentioned that he's playing some browser games.
ArPharazonV (4:29:31 PM): well, just checking out some puzzle and skill games on the Armorgames website
ArPharazonV (4:29:44 PM): so far I've played
Totem Destroyer,
Perfect Balance,
Gravpull, and a few others
VardaValar1 (4:29:44 PM): Would you like to give an url?
Fladrifv (4:29:50 PM): how did eonwe leave 3 times without joining?
ArPharazonV (4:30:01 PM):
http://armorgames.com/category/puzzle-skill :)
VardaValar1 (4:30:15 PM): Eonwe is trying to rejoin, but it says that he can't enter when he has an invitaton pending.
VardaValar1 (4:30:27 PM): Thanks, Phar.
Fladrifv (4:30:38 PM): a game under development:
http://eu.aiononline.com/en/
Fladrifv (4:30:56 PM): its gaming news or? :)
VardaValar1 (4:31:37 PM): We are in Gaming, aye.
VardaValar1 (4:31:50 PM): Thanks, that is gaming news.
VardaValar1 (4:32:03 PM): Does it look like one you'd be interested in trying?
Fladrifv (4:32:47 PM): actually yes
Fladrifv (4:32:51 PM): its cartoonish
VardaValar1 (4:33:04 PM): Are those winged people on both sides?
Fladrifv (4:33:27 PM): dont think so, but there is not a whole lot of information yet
Fladrifv (4:33:32 PM): first beta has yet to come
VardaValar1 (4:33:54 PM): Ok, just something about the artwork looks like it.
VardaValar1 (4:34:14 PM): Blue elves with white hair, apparently.
VardaValar1 (4:34:54 PM): "How to know if a villain is really dead" makes me want to read it. : )
Fladrifv (4:35:04 PM): hehe
VardaValar1 (4:35:44 PM): I don't mind that much if it's a bit cartoony if it's a good game.
Fladrifv (4:36:06 PM): I prefer cartoonish games
Fladrifv (4:36:07 PM): like wow
Fladrifv (4:36:20 PM): makes the whole envoiriment less boring :)
VardaValar1 (4:36:23 PM): I like how WoW has constant movement in all the characters.
Fladrifv (4:36:25 PM): imho
VardaValar1 (4:37:00 PM): I don't consider LotRO to be excessively realistic, and it *is* a fantasy.
Fladrifv (4:37:29 PM): *steps on the ice*
VardaValar1 (4:37:44 PM): Helcaraxe : )
VardaValar1 (4:37:48 PM): But that's me. : )
Fladrifv (4:38:06 PM): LotRO is a bit too realistic
Fladrifv (4:38:16 PM): and small
VardaValar1 (4:38:19 PM): Small?
Fladrifv (4:38:26 PM): everthing is so tiny
Fladrifv (4:38:30 PM): too much details
VardaValar1 (4:38:31 PM): Did you get out of the beginning intro? It's gigantic in area.
VardaValar1 (4:38:41 PM): Put it on Low graphics then. ;-)
Fladrifv (4:38:52 PM): then still the models are so small
VardaValar1 (4:39:09 PM): Tried zooming in more?
Fladrifv (4:39:13 PM): nothing is exagurated like an impossibly big swort :)
VardaValar1 (4:39:39 PM): My axe is enough that if I weren't an elf I should fall over.
ArPharazonV (4:39:42 PM): ahh, that way realistic
ArPharazonV (4:40:08 PM): not the giant swords that came in WoW from Zul'gurub on that were at least as tall as the player ;)
VardaValar1 (4:40:10 PM): My axe also pokes through my cloak without tearing it.
Fladrifv (4:40:12 PM): aye I like the crazyness of the mounts in wow for example
ArPharazonV (4:40:21 PM): ahh, mammoths and drakes
VardaValar1 (4:40:40 PM): Try a goat in Moria. They have given people vertigo. Some people have to pull the camera back. : )
VardaValar1 (4:41:21 PM): But to each his own preference!
Fladrifv (4:41:25 PM):
http://eu.aiononline.com/en/screenshots/article/340/
Fladrifv (4:41:37 PM): good example of unrealistic fantasy :)
VardaValar1 (4:41:38 PM): I'm a Tolkien fan, and love to be in Middle-earth with tons of other Tolkien fans.
Fladrifv (4:42:10 PM): we know Varda, its just that I try to explain myself
VardaValar1 (4:42:15 PM): Maybe you need to check out some of our drakes, ground and flyers.
VardaValar1 (4:42:23 PM): Thank you for that. I was curious.
Fladrifv (4:42:37 PM): LotRO is just not my game
VardaValar1 (4:42:43 PM): Any other non-WoW and non-LotRO games this week?
Fladrifv (4:43:00 PM):
arma.....
VardaValar1 (4:43:04 PM): Good! *grabs LotRO game from Fladrif and plays it*
Fladrifv (4:43:05 PM):
worldof....
VardaValar1 (4:43:20 PM): world of what?
Fladrifv (4:43:24 PM): goo :)
VardaValar1 (4:43:29 PM): Thanks : )
eonwevalar (4:44:46 PM) has been invited.
Invitation result for buddy Eonwe Valar : Eonwe Valar rejected your
request. [Note: he says this message is a lie. I agree! :) ]
VardaValar1 (4:45:18 PM): Undead dwarves right from the start, not massively realistic.
ArPharazonV (4:45:38 PM): I've spent even more time in
WoW than normal, doing 5 raids this week :)
VardaValar1 (4:45:43 PM): Nice : )
VardaValar1 (4:45:57 PM):
WoW Argent Dawn report, Phar?
eonwevalar (4:46:29 PM) has been invited.
ArPharazonV (4:46:34 PM): not Valar-related I'm afraid, just been raiding and achieving and still saving up for a chopper
VardaValar1 (4:47:02 PM): Choppers, I'd like one of those!
Invitation result for buddy Eonwe Valar : Eonwe Valar rejected your request.
ArPharazonV (4:47:14 PM): finished Malygos for the first time this week, and 2 times after too
VardaValar1 (4:47:24 PM): I watched over Sauron's shoulder at his
VardaValar1 (4:47:32 PM): phone
ArPharazonV (4:48:14 PM): I got the 12 titansteel bars needed for quite
a low price (well, they're being made by a guildmate of mine, who
doesn't use his cooldowns anyway) and just grinding the dailies
required for the 12500 cash parts
ArPharazonV (4:48:36 PM): just reached over 10000g, so pretty close
ArPharazonV (4:48:43 PM): though it'll still take a while
VardaValar1 (4:49:46 PM): Good luck with that!
VardaValar1 (4:50:10 PM): Have you seen other Valarites on, maybe in the chat?
VardaValar1 (4:51:00 PM):
WoW Lothar:
VardaValar1 (4:51:20 PM): Eonwe Valar: Just that my Protection
Paladin/Scribe is now level 68, meaning he can move on to Northrend.
VardaValar1 (4:52:01 PM): Fangorn has been home more, so some of my
family has been gaming in Lothar, moving on up together, such as the
Draenei ones.
VardaValar1 (4:52:17 PM): Mostly the family and Elwing have been gaming a great deal on
Uldaman server.
VardaValar1 (4:52:21 PM): Go Horde! ;-)
VardaValar1 (4:52:50 PM): We've been running together, clearing out the
Thousand Needles quests, running the warrior quests for Fangorn and
Sauron,
ArPharazonV (4:52:51 PM): oh, sorry, I think I saw Orophin at some point recently, think that's Valandil?
VardaValar1 (4:53:15 PM): currently three are in Razorfen Kraul in Uldaman server.
VardaValar1 (4:53:21 PM): Thanks Phar. : )
VardaValar1 (4:53:28 PM): Get to at least say hi?
ArPharazonV (4:53:43 PM): if I recall right, yes, but it might also have been the week before :)
VardaValar1 (4:53:50 PM):
LotRO has been very active, we had a scroll of people yesterday.
VardaValar1 (4:54:20 PM): We've had some of us together running the
Lorien Battle Instances, takes some strategy that makes it fun.
VardaValar1 (4:54:38 PM): 6-man instance, three levels of challenge.
VardaValar1 (4:54:56 PM): and much other fun running both low and high level.
VardaValar1 (4:55:12 PM): More are getting their radiance sets, going to be able to run Vile Maw.
VardaValar1 (4:55:46 PM): We hope the new Turtle instance will be back
up soon, newest and highest in the game, in the Waterworks of Moria.
VardaValar1 (4:56:22 PM): Ulmo managed to get into it before it went
down due to error in the raid locks that should be repaired soon.
VardaValar1 (4:56:32 PM): He said one secret is to run it fast!
VardaValar1 (4:56:51 PM): Going to try again on Monday for Vile Maw.
VardaValar1 (4:57:07 PM): Any further gaming or other business?
ArPharazonV (4:57:26 PM): well, we're expecting the
3.1 patch for WoW this next wednesday
VardaValar1 (4:57:28 PM): Eonwe Valar: I did some Uldaman on Wednesday,
my Hunter advanced his fishing and cooking to Expert levels.
VardaValar1 (4:57:35 PM): Thanks, Phar!
VardaValar1 (4:58:11 PM): Phar, could you try inviting Eonwe? My last two claimed he rejected, he said they lie. : )
ArPharazonV (4:58:19 PM): might also be the week after, but we're expecting this week
VardaValar1 (4:58:20 PM): Eonwe Valar: No official word has been given on it last I checked.
ArPharazonV (4:58:22 PM): ok
ArPharazonV (4:58:38 PM): well, Easter was postponed until end of the month and it should be before then
ArPharazonV (4:58:56 PM): invited
VardaValar1 (4:58:57 PM): Heh, Easter is teday.
VardaValar1 (4:59:01 PM): Thanks
ArPharazonV (4:59:09 PM): the
Easter festivities in WoW, obviously :)
VardaValar1 (4:59:17 PM): Eonwe Valar: Supposed to be a one-week hiatus for arena right before the patch.
ArPharazonV (4:59:29 PM): it declined
VardaValar1 (4:59:31 PM): The
spring festival for LotRO ends around noon tomorrow.
VardaValar1 (4:59:48 PM): Eonwe Valar: No luck
VardaValar1 (5:00:00 PM): Eonwe Valar: Told me the invite timed out.
top
VardaValar1 (5:00:23 PM): On to
Tolkien. I'll pass the convo to Eonwe.
VardaValar1 (5:01:00 PM): We were discussing starting discussions from
the beginning of LotR and working our way to the end, with the usual
fun side runs into everywhere else. : )
VardaValar1 (5:01:07 PM): Bilbo's party starts the book.
VardaValar1 (5:01:30 PM): This is the combined birthday of Bilbo and Frodo, although the movies seems to have forgotten Frodo.
VardaValar1 (5:01:36 PM): *seem
VardaValar1 (5:02:22 PM): After the War of the Ring, this birthday
became a major celebration in the Reunited Kingdom, except in the Shire.
VardaValar1 (5:02:38 PM): Frodo was not especially famous in his hometown.
VardaValar1 (5:03:15 PM): More info on this holiday is in the Return of the King Appendix D "The Calendars"
ArPharazonV (5:04:01 PM): *grin* it's like how you don't really
appreciate the features of your home town while the tourists find it
fascinating
VardaValar1 (5:04:06 PM): hehe - aye!
VardaValar1 (5:04:26 PM): In the Reunited Kingdom by the New Reckoning
that was a return to the King's Reckoning,, Yavannie 30, corresponding
to the former September 22, was made a festival in honor of Frodo's
birthday.
VardaValar1 (5:05:15 PM): The leap year was provided for by doubling this feast, called Cormare or Ringday.
ArPharazonV (5:05:20 PM): wonder what Bilbo would've thought about that
ArPharazonV (5:05:39 PM): it was his birthday for over 130 times and only when he left it got made into a holiday
VardaValar1 (5:05:47 PM): I suspect Bilbo's name would have come up a lot. Note this:
VardaValar1 (5:05:49 PM): Only the Shire continued with Shire
Reckoning, a form of the King's Reckoning adapted to their own customs,
retained even when the Stewards changed the calendar
AriehnV (5:06:07 PM) has entered the room.
VardaValar1 (5:06:34 PM): Welcome Arien, and Happy Easter! :-)
AriehnV (5:06:48 PM): aiya all and happy easter to you too :-)
VardaValar1 (5:06:59 PM): The Reunited Kingdom, except for the Shire,
commemorated the new year, previously March 25, for the fall of Sauron
and the deeds of the Ringbearers.
VardaValar1 (5:08:23 PM): Eonwe Valar: Happy Easter to Arien.
VardaValar1 (5:08:43 PM): The Shire, after the War of the Ring, did not commemorate September 22 nor March 25.
VardaValar1 (5:08:55 PM): The hobbits of the Westfarthing, especially
in the country around Hobbiton Hill, did celebrate April 6 with a
holiday including dancing in the Party Field, when weather permitted.
VardaValar1 (5:09:07 PM): Some said it was old Sam Gardner's birthday,
some that it was the day the Golden Tree first flowered in 1420, and
some said it was the Elve's New Year.
VardaValar1 (5:09:33 PM): In the Buckland the Horn of the Mark was
blown at sundown every November 2, followed by bonfires and feastings,
in honor of the first blowing of that horn in the Shire in 3019.
AriehnV (5:10:02 PM): of the Battle of Bywater?
ArPharazonV (5:10:16 PM): hmm, think so
VardaValar1 (5:12:11 PM): Yes. : )
VardaValar1 (5:12:30 PM): Also copy/pasting this to Eonwe, who can't re-enter.
AriehnV (5:12:43 PM): bleh still the old trouble
VardaValar1 (5:13:15 PM): 70 ruffians and 19 hobbits were killed. Very lopsided in favor of the hobbits.
VardaValar1 (5:14:04 PM): Remember what Sam did about the loss of the old Party Tree?
ArPharazonV (5:14:22 PM): he... planted the new one?
VardaValar1 (5:14:35 PM): As Eru said, he could take anything marred and make it come out better.
VardaValar1 (5:14:42 PM): He did. Where from?
AriehnV (5:14:42 PM): the golden nut he had from Galadriel
VardaValar1 (5:15:06 PM): Aye, the only mallorn west of Lorien in Middle-earth.
AriehnV (5:15:15 PM): she gave it to him at the parting from Lothlorien
VardaValar1 (5:15:18 PM): And he had another gift from Galadriel.
VardaValar1 (5:15:20 PM): Right!
AriehnV (5:15:55 PM): it was *dust* .. earth out of her own garden with *what blessing i have " on them
VardaValar1 (5:16:00 PM): (Fangorn is waving to you all)
VardaValar1 (5:16:07 PM): Aye!
VardaValar1 (5:16:41 PM): Sam could've kept the dust for just the Party Tree and his own garden. What did he do with it?
VardaValar1 (5:16:56 PM): Eonwe Valar: Heya to Fangorn.
ArPharazonV (5:17:05 PM): I'd guess he used it in multiple places throughout the Shire :)
VardaValar1 (5:17:29 PM): He turned it loose all over the Shire.
VardaValar1 (5:17:50 PM): The whole place, the farms and people, were affected.
VardaValar1 (5:18:07 PM): The best drinks and pipeweed came from that time. : )
ArPharazonV (5:18:11 PM): :)
AriehnV (5:18:29 PM): and the remnat he threw into the wind on a hill in the centre of the shire and let the wind do its work
AriehnV (5:18:31 PM): /
AriehnV (5:18:43 PM): or as close as he came to it
VardaValar1 (5:18:44 PM): More hobbit children were born then with
golden hair than had ever before, as it had been a rare color.
VardaValar1 (5:18:55 PM): Aye, thanks!
VardaValar1 (5:19:38 PM): The children seemed to have looked better too, including such as Elanor the Fair, Sam's daughter.
ArPharazonV (5:20:48 PM): seemed there was a lot of wind then, or you'd expect a lot of flowers on the sides of that hill ;)
VardaValar1 (5:21:03 PM): Manwe probably saw to the distribution.
VardaValar1 (5:21:41 PM): Such a thing would surely have pleased the Valar.
VardaValar1 (5:22:19 PM): This seemed like an appropriate subject for Easter, and we could end it here if you like.
AriehnV (5:22:45 PM): its a very nice topic indeed
ArPharazonV (5:23:04 PM): quite, new birth, happy times, holidays
AriehnV (5:23:12 PM): I should go anyway , i am on earlies tomorrow
