Before-meeting:
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1 : Aiya :-)
VardaValar1 : Eonwe, you get to chair.
ArPharazonV : Aiya!
ArPharazonV : brb, still with Flad in a SC game
VardaValar1 : I'm visiting at Elwing's
ArPharazonV : he promised it'd be fast, pfuh
VardaValar1 : heheh
Eonwe Valar : Heya :}
Eonwe Valar : I figured as much :}
VardaValar1 : No power at home
Eonwe Valar : Glad to see you all the same :}
VardaValar1 : Astonished and happy to be here. : )
fladrifv has entered the room.
ArPharazonV : you were in Houston right?
fladrifv : Aiya
ArPharazonV : any property damage, or just loss of power?
VardaValar1 : Just north of Houston, some leaks, repairing siding. We're all ok.
ArPharazonV : ah, good, good
ArPharazonV : could be a lot worse
VardaValar1 : Intermittent phone.
VardaValar1 : Aye
VardaValar1 : Gimli has power, but the house next to him was completely demolished by a tree.
ArPharazonV : agh
Eonwe Valar : One moment then I'll begin :}
ArPharazonV : those trees are always up to trouble
ArPharazonV : *glances at Fladrif*
VardaValar1 : *checking laundry, thanks again to Elwing and her parents nearby for helping with it!*
Eonwe Valar : Ok, shall we begin?
top
Eonwe Valar : Elen Sila Lumenn Omentielvo!
Eonwe Valar : Membership:
Eonwe Valar : Varda and family are ok :}
Eonwe Valar : We have some people expressing interest in Tolkien-Only membership, so that's good :}
Eonwe Valar : Anyone have any more membership news?
VardaValar1 : Gimli is ok : )
VardaValar1 : Elwing is ok
Eonwe Valar : I've seen Elwing was on WoW the past week, but never did manage to catch her while she was on.
Eonwe Valar : Guess that's more of gaming news though :}
VardaValar1 : Elwing just came in with Fangorn and Eowyn. Sauron is with me. Bilbo is working.
VardaValar1 : Elwing had short intermittent power outages but it smoothed out.
Eonwe Valar : Heya to all of them :}
VardaValar1 : We'll be leaving Eowyn with Elwing so you may see her on a bit. Rest of us are heading back home this evening.
VardaValar1 : Done here. : )
Eonwe Valar : Thanks :} We'll try to keep everything going smoothly until you get power back at home :}

Eonwe Valar : Web news:
Eonwe Valar : I've taken on keeping the news page updated for Varda in the meantime, as it's important we have a page that helps keep us all informed. Hopefully it saves her some work :}
Eonwe Valar : News for the news page can be sent with a CC to me, and of course, I can answer any questions that need to be answered quickly. Well, most questions :}
VardaValar1 : Thank you so much Eonwe!
Eonwe Valar : MP :}
Eonwe Valar : I've been denoting my contributions with "Report by Eonw?" so that when you see it no longer, you can safely assume Varda's fully back in the game and can inundate her once again :}
VardaValar1 : Getting a backlog for the Tolkien Site, but it will be handled eventually. :-)
VardaValar1 : hehe
Eonwe Valar : (I kid about the inundating her, of course :}) Tolkien site contributions can still be sent to Varda.
VardaValar1 : Please inundate. I love to swim!
Eonwe Valar : GPMU still going, of course :} I've managed to get one thing working I couldn't get working last year, so if nothing else, the Games Page has been buffed at least once :}
VardaValar1 : Woot! What did you get to work?
Eonwe Valar : Something with the menu.
Eonwe Valar : The submenus on the current version have to be clicked on to open them.
Eonwe Valar : Next version they'll open on mouseover as intended.
Eonwe Valar : For example, under Guild branches, the Landroval submenu.
Eonwe Valar : I'm also trying to make some other adaptations, but I'll get into those after the next version goes live.
Eonwe Valar : heh, goes live :}
VardaValar1 : :-)
Eonwe Valar : Ok, time for Gaming:
VardaValar1 : Hope you guys enjoyed the new opening page for Valar too.
VardaValar1 : *major withdrawal*
Eonwe Valar : Aye, I like the image :}
GwaihirValar has entered the room.
GwaihirValar : hello
ArPharazonV : Aiya!
Eonwe Valar : If for some reason you don't what we're talking about, check out our front page. Hopefully you all know the address :}
Eonwe Valar : Heya Gwaihir :}
Eonwe Valar : We were just finishing up on web, getting ready to move into gaming.
VardaValar1 : Aiya Gwaihir : )
top
Eonwe Valar : Gaming:
Eonwe Valar : LotRO:
Eonwe Valar : Ancalagon's run for this week was cancelled due to low attendance.
VardaValar1 : I wasn't there to drag people in.
VardaValar1 : Please pay attention to your kin mail. We also need to help Anc put a note on the Forum and the News.
Eonwe Valar : Ancalagon said it was just him and Ulmo, might've been literally that.
VardaValar1 : Quite likely.
Eonwe Valar : Might've been miscommunication on the date as well.
VardaValar1 : The date listed needs to be correct too. : ) I did one notice with an incorrect time. Please help us catch these things, folks.
Eonwe Valar : Ancalagon told me he alternates between Friday and Saturday to try and help with schedules.
Eonwe Valar : WoW:
Eonwe Valar : Lothar was quiet Friday, with the usual attendees all otherwise occupied :}
Eonwe Valar : Well, all except for me :}
VardaValar1 : Most of whom had no internet.
Eonwe Valar : I did pop into Uldaman during the week and levelled my Orc Hunter there to 21.
VardaValar1 : Elwing was probably there?
Eonwe Valar : Elwing wasn't in Friday, don't think at all but at least wasn't while I was there.
Eonwe Valar : I think I saw Arwen on, but she was running BLack Temple.
VardaValar1 : Elwing says she has been on a lot during the week, probably just the timing.
Eonwe Valar : General WoW news:
Eonwe Valar : Aye, probably.
Eonwe Valar : Wrath of the Lich King release date announced as November 13th, 2008.
ArPharazonV : yep, got it pre-ordered already
Eonwe Valar : The next content patch, which will introduce all the fun stuff we get to do until we buy WotLK, is on the PTR.
GwaihirValar : and Naxx on the beta is a LOT of fun
Eonwe Valar : In this patch, we will be losing some quests, most notably the Alliance Onyxia line, as Onyxia's human persona will no longer be in Stormwind.
Eonwe Valar : Gongrats on getting in :}
Eonwe Valar : Congrats even :}
GwaihirValar : Gilraen got in and gave me her invite hehe... but yep, I'm in! and trust me... when you guys all get to northrend, you're gonna have a blast with some of the quests lol
Eonwe Valar : Brewfest is going on right now.
Eonwe Valar : Good to hear :}
VardaValar1 : I'm passing the news on to the gang in the living room about WoW. : )
Eonwe Valar : :}
Eonwe Valar : Anyone play anything besides WoW and LotRO this week? *looks at Pharazon* :}
ArPharazonV : yes, a few games
VardaValar1 : Italian Canasta, Go Fish
ArPharazonV : more Starcraft: Broodwar with Fladrif, and I finally played some more Guild Wars, finally finishing the Prophecies campaign (I'll try to buy the next campaign this week)
ArPharazonV : and the game I installed last week during the meeting, called Tasty Planet
ArPharazonV : where you play the part of a green goo in a 2-dimensional game where you're created in a laboratory and eat everything to grow bigger and bigger, eventually devouring the entire universe
ArPharazonV : sorry, a grey goo
ArPharazonV : the name Tasty Planet probably refers to the fact that you go through a lot of levels based in various scenes on earth to eat everything you can, including a city, the ocean, and the sky
ArPharazonV : and in fact, in one of the last levels you eat the earth itself
Eonwe Valar : Fladrif says he's quite far in Spore :}
ArPharazonV : it's quite a fun game in my opinion, though it can be a bit hectic, you need to move quick to avoid enemies that are bigger than you (so you can't eat them... yet), because, mostly in the later levels, mistakes can be unforgiving
ArPharazonV : and one encounter with one of the numerous enemies might mean you have to restart the level
fladrifv : seen the centre of the milkeyway!
ArPharazonV : it's all done by the mouse, though, so if you're a bit handy with it moving fast and out of the way of enemies shouldn't be to hard
ArPharazonV : I *ate* the centre of the milkyway!
ArPharazonV : but I'll end my report here and let Fladrif share more Spore-stories :-)
fladrifv : sory for the interuption might one on the ships
Eonwe Valar : Thanks for telling us a bit about Tasty Planet :}
Eonwe Valar : Fladrif, did you want to comment on SPore?
fladrifv : if you allow me yes please
Eonwe Valar : Go for it :}
fladrifv : the game moved on from little critters all the way up to a galactic empire
fladrifv : one of the goals is *spoiler* the centre of the universe
GwaihirValar : I just wanted to pop by to say hi to everyone and to let them know that, contrary to popular belief, Gilraen and I are quite alive(;-)), but we're heading upstairs and unfortunately there are no computers there :-(
GwaihirValar : farewell folks
ArPharazonV : Namarie!
fladrifv : namarie gwaihir
GwaihirValar has left the room.
fladrifv : it has developt to a very interesting game that looks more like eve online
fladrifv : quite nice how they packed all these game ellements into one
fladrifv : that was what I wanted to say, please ask if something is unclear
Eonwe Valar : *Resists urge to prod for review* :}
VardaValar1 : *prods Fladrif for review, having no qualms*
Eonwe Valar : Guess no questions for Fladrif :} Thanks for telling us about it :}
Eonwe Valar : Any other gaming news?
fladrifv : *will proiduce a review*
Eonwe Valar : Thanks Fladrif :}
Eonwe Valar : I and everyone who enjoys reading reviews thank you :}
VardaValar1 : Thanks Flad : )
Eonwe Valar : Ok, as the last gaming Item, I will throw some game names out there for those who might be interested:
Eonwe Valar : Star Trek Online, Stargate Worlds, Lord of the Rings: Conquest.
Eonwe Valar : If any of those interest you, go get some info :}
top
Eonwe Valar : Tolkien:
Eonwe Valar : RP: I plan to make a post soon.
Eonwe Valar : Not a "Let's get going" post, more of a filler post, I guess you could say, but hey, it's what came to mind to write :}
ArPharazonV : :-)
VardaValar1 : Write fast while I can still read it!
ArPharazonV : I'm still wondering whether I went too far with mine again
ArPharazonV : I got a huge amount of information out of a piece of broken arrow..
VardaValar1 : I'd better run look at the rp.
Eonwe Valar : I need to take a slightly closer look at the geography around Thranduil's halls for my post.
ArPharazonV : I just assumed it bordered on forest, but I could be wrong...
Eonwe Valar : if anyone's interested, we can discuss such as our Tolkien topic, or we can dig up something else.
VardaValar1 : I should also mention that my bread and butter work has gotten badly behind thanks to Ike, and that will have to take precedence, but Valar will certainly be looked after too when I get back online.
VardaValar1 : The forest is against it, and a road, and the halls are in the northwest corner so the inhabitants can leave the forest and ride out in the open sometimes.
Eonwe Valar : No problem Varda. Paying the bills needs to come first or contributing to the guild becomes much harder :}
VardaValar1 : Too true : )
Eonwe Valar : What about rivers? As I recall there's one underground used to ship the barrels. Anyone happen to know if it runs above ground near Thranduil's halls anywhere.
Eonwe Valar : ?
VardaValar1 : My post is the last one on the forum? Come on people.
VardaValar1 : The river has to be above ground outside the halls, and has a turn where the raft elves push them.
VardaValar1 : Should show in one of the map books?
VardaValar1 : The raft elves are a long way down though.
Eonwe Valar : Until now I had nothing jumping to mind to write about.
Eonwe Valar : Hmm, so the river isn't underground for the barrels? Must have the Rankin-Bass Hobbit and its coloring in my mind throwing me off.
VardaValar1 : It is underground for the barrels
Eonwe Valar : Ok.
ArPharazonV : it comes above ground somewhere..
Eonwe Valar : The question then becomes where.
VardaValar1 : Might check the Hobbit
VardaValar1 : I got the impression that it wasn't far
Eonwe Valar : If it's too far from the halls for the purposes of my next post, I can just change my character's location.
ArPharazonV : if there's elves on the surface pushing it forward at some point it's probably still near the Halls, aye, or at least in a secure location in the forest
Eonwe Valar : *Pulls out Atlas*
VardaValar1 : Maker's marks on the arrows, that makes perfect sense.
Eonwe Valar : Hmm?
Eonwe Valar : Ah, gotcha.
VardaValar1 : Answering above
Eonwe Valar : About Phar's post being too much/not being too much?
VardaValar1 : I also agree with the comment that a Mirkwood elf is very unlikely to kinslay, due to the Telerin tie.
VardaValar1 : Aye
VardaValar1 : The point of having Thranduil's comment was that it should work together with what we are trying to do already, not go against it.
VardaValar1 : That seems to show in the last line of the last post nicely.
VardaValar1 : Calion's thought:
VardaValar1 : He added to himself in silence that if there were answers concerning his brother to the west, or even at Angmar, he would find them faster this way. And he swore to do so under his breath.
ArPharazonV : just my reason for continuing to play a part in this rp :-)
VardaValar1 : Well done : )
Eonwe Valar : Seems the Forest River runs close enough to Thranduil's Halls for my purposes.
Eonwe Valar : Though nothing appears too,.. exciting for lack of a better word, about its course that close to the Halls.
VardaValar1 : Posted my reply.
Eonwe Valar : So that it may help inspire others for their next parts, I'll tell you that my post takes place the night before we leave, i.e. "tonight" according to our story-in-progress.
VardaValar1 : The river would be the wrong way for us to go to, wouldn't it?
Eonwe Valar : ..or you'll already be inspired to write something :}
VardaValar1 : Not having a comp in a few hours is inspirational. : )
ArPharazonV : ahh, what a refreshingly short post of 3 lines
ArPharazonV : we need more of those, I always tend to try cramming as much information as possible into a single post
Eonwe Valar : It's a "filler" post :} All I needed was to know how close the river was to be accurate about location.
Eonwe Valar : It's just a backdrop, and could've easily changed if the river is/was too far, so to walk to and get back to the Halls.
Eonwe Valar : Varda's post: short and sweet, hehe.
Eonwe Valar : Or perhaps a better phrase: cuts to the chase :}
ArPharazonV : maybe the better posting strategy is similar to what I'm told is the healthiest eating pattern...
ArPharazonV : shorter but more frequently :-)
Eonwe Valar : :}
VardaValar1 : hehe
VardaValar1 : The short ones I tend to mean to be more interactive. Not trying to write a chapter alone here. : )
VardaValar1 : I expect to read posts from both of you shortly! ;-)
ArPharazonV : I find it hard to get inspired by short posts though, what to write when there seems to be so little progress? ;-)
Eonwe Valar : Writing now :}
Eonwe Valar : Perspective :}
VardaValar1 : We're aiming ourselves in a direction.
ArPharazonV : I'm not sure what I expect from this RP, especially my place in it... I'm bad at smaller interaction scenes, but I try to learn, I'm just not sure what it'll become of it :-)
Eonwe Valar : Short posts are good, and longer posts are good, but I tend to favor moderate posts in most situations as you can add depth, perspective, and say what you're going to do.
VardaValar1 : Calion and I just said we would go with Auros and in the process investigate what our king wishes us to.
VardaValar1 : aye, posting while doing laundry and supper and interacting with everyone here in rl. : )
VardaValar1 : When Auros says he'll go, we can then shoot off doing more.
VardaValar1 : Stuck til then.
Eonwe Valar : remind me, singular for female elf?
ArPharazonV : "rare"? ;-)
Eonwe Valar : That would be "female Dwarf" :}
ArPharazonV : by the way, currently reading The Science of Discworld II, the science chapters of which are based on the function and influence of storytelling in/on human development and modern society... quite a remarkable book
ArPharazonV : gives me a whole new perspective on the stories we like to write and read so much :-)
ArPharazonV : including Tolkien, and our own RP!
ArPharazonV : stories build up our imagination, gives us a sense of time and place, and makes us look forward to the future and innovation... a source of art and religion as well
ArPharazonV : I wonder where we'd be without stories, what we'd be :-)
ArPharazonV : we wouldn't be in this guild, for sure...
ArPharazonV : anyway, sorry for the interruption.. it just seemed something to mention
VardaValar1 : elleth
VardaValar1 : good mention
VardaValar1 : How did our enjoyment of fantasy and science-fiction get us to this point? : )
VardaValar1 : Certainly Middle-earth has been a source of art and inspiration for creativity.
ArPharazonV : much of the fantasy that is based on the works of Tolkien also seems to have a social effect, like gatherings for D&D or LARPs
ArPharazonV : bringing like-minded personalities together to expand our social circle and making it easier for us to expand ourself mentally, by input from other people
VardaValar1 : So it brings people together socially.
Eonwe Valar : Posted.
VardaValar1 : Thank you, Eonwe : )
Eonwe Valar : bah, adding in elleth.
Eonwe Valar : elleth is quenya or Sindarin?
VardaValar1 : Elleth is for an elf lady
VardaValar1 : ai
VardaValar1 : Not sure
Eonwe Valar : I was thinking niri/nisi for man/woman, but perhaps those forms are too basic for what I'm trying to say.
VardaValar1 : Think those are Queny
VardaValar1 : Quenya
VardaValar1 : Lorebook should say
Eonwe Valar : I guess I'm going to have to figure out where I stuck my zip file of the Lorebook.
VardaValar1 : The old one is still up, where you don't have to have it unzipped
VardaValar1 : I like info just right up on the site where you don't have to dl files and mess with them, and then they have to be updated.
Eonwe Valar : The old link (the one that was apparently still on the games page) redirects me to the new one
VardaValar1 : aww
VardaValar1 : Elleth is Sindarin, so you don't want it for Auros.
Eonwe Valar : Anyone, minus some word changes to reflect a quanyarin inner dialogue, my post is ready for perusal.
Eonwe Valar : Ok, thanks.
Eonwe Valar : Anyone = anyway.
Eonwe Valar : My fingers need to stop thinking the words out for themselves, hehe.
ArPharazonV : familiar problem, that :-)
Eonwe Valar : It's like have that auto-word setting on some programs. I blame the Valar Guild for making me type too fast :}
VardaValar1 : and for chatting when fighting getting us killed. : )
Eonwe Valar : That too :}
ArPharazonV : I blame my typing course in high school, it took the thought out of typing and gives more control to my fingers
Eonwe Valar : I rarely if ever had a typo when I first joined, but my typing was somewhat slower too.
Eonwe Valar : Hehe
Eonwe Valar : Well, shall we declare this Aftermeeting?
ArPharazonV : heh, sure
Eonwe Valar : We can keep chatting, but I fear we may have made the Ent more treeish :}
ArPharazonV : *shakes the ent until leaves fall to the ground* wake up!
VardaValar1 : He's been typing. : )
top
Eonwe Valar : *bangs gavel* Aftermeeting:
Eonwe Valar : Ah, just not aloud :}
ArPharazonV : I bet he's typing in Entish
ArPharazonV : don't be hasty!
Eonwe Valar : Maybe, that's why he hasn't said anything. he's still working on the phonetical spelling of the first sound of the first word in what he's trying to say to us :}
Eonwe Valar : Entish is hard enough to say, let alone type :}
ArPharazonV : hehe
VardaValar1 : Hoom hom.
VardaValar1 : I was digging for the Quenya word for female elf. : )
ArPharazonV : maybe he's been typing the Entish word for female elf?
fladrifv : *awakes*
ArPharazonV : there he is
fladrifv : hoom boom doze
Eonwe Valar : :}
fladrifv : I was very bussy writing a review
Eonwe Valar : Time for him to drink from the waters of Fangorn Forest, methinks :}
Eonwe Valar : Thanks, Fladrif :}
fladrifv : hope you agree with it :-)
VardaValar1 : Point of a review is to show your own opinion. No worries. :-)
Eonwe Valar : Sorry, was perusing it.
Eonwe Valar : Aye, point is to tell what you think of the game and why. If it's good, we want to know what's good about it, if it's bad, we want to know that too.
Eonwe Valar : Just like trying to tell a friend about it, gamplay, user interface, soundtrack if it's particularly notable (notably good or notably bad, hehe), parts you personally enjoyed if you want.
Eonwe Valar : That's all just general review stuff, btw, not jrelated specifically to your review, Fladrif.
Eonwe Valar : minus the "j" in related..
VardaValar1 : Finrod says hi : )
ArPharazonV : hi Finrod!
fladrifv : Hi finrod
Eonwe Valar : Heya Finrod :}
TH0R0NGIL has entered the room.
VardaValar1 : Woot! You made it in!
TH0R0NGIL : lol
ArPharazonV : Aiya
VardaValar1 : Fladrif just sent in a review for a game, we were working on our next posts in the role-playing story on the forum.
VardaValar1 : Thorongil is Finrod-(V), for those confused. : )
VardaValar1 : Are you back in the States?
TH0R0NGIL : yes
TH0R0NGIL : i'm in az now
VardaValar1 : Nice. :-)
VardaValar1 : Get to play any games?
TH0R0NGIL : yep, its a nice place
TH0R0NGIL : eh, not really
TH0R0NGIL : not a lot of time for that lately
VardaValar1 : I liked Arizona when I went through.
VardaValar1 : Are you still in the service?
TH0R0NGIL : oh yea
TH0R0NGIL : will be for a bit
VardaValar1 : That would sure keep you busy. : )
TH0R0NGIL : at least a few years, maybe for a while
TH0R0NGIL : yep :-)
VardaValar1 : Should pay for college and medical later on.
TH0R0NGIL : well college is done, but yea
TH0R0NGIL : at least for the moment
VardaValar1 : Feel free to check in now and then on the forum. That can be done on most computers.
TH0R0NGIL : yeah
VardaValar1 : Aye. I go back to college now and then, even with a BS. : )
TH0R0NGIL : let me know anytime you start playing a new game or anything
TH0R0NGIL : yeah i'm planning to start my ma soon
VardaValar1 : Lord of the Rings Online count?
VardaValar1 : What in?
TH0R0NGIL : military history
TH0R0NGIL : nope, don't have that one
TH0R0NGIL : i haven't bought any online games in a while
VardaValar1 : You need a good computer for it. It's a natural place for the guild members.
TH0R0NGIL : yeah
TH0R0NGIL : i have a nice comp i just built
VardaValar1 : World of WarCraft is addictive, new expansion coming up.
TH0R0NGIL : but dont know if i'd have much time
VardaValar1 : O cool!
TH0R0NGIL : yeah, i have stayed away from wow
VardaValar1 : You probably won't have much time, aye.
TH0R0NGIL : you going to try d3 when it comes out?
TH0R0NGIL : i might make time for that....
VardaValar1 : Maybe we can pick on you to send in a short story, poem, article, or just say hi on AIM. :-)
VardaValar1 : WoW and LotRO already eat too much of my time, but certainly been eyeing it.
TH0R0NGIL : ya
VardaValar1 : Some others are too. : )
VardaValar1 : Think you'll be in it?
Eonwe Valar : I've heard from people responding to my GPMU mail that are saying they'll likely get back into gaming with D3.
VardaValar1 : Sounds good. Maybe we'll have to set up a D3 branch.
TH0R0NGIL : yeah i will at least have to try it out
VardaValar1 : Supposed to be another StarCraft coming out too.
TH0R0NGIL : depending when it comes out i might be back in iraq, in which case probably won't be able to play it for a bit...but perhaps not
TH0R0NGIL : yeah
VardaValar1 : Maybe you can still email or say hi on AIM or the Forum even over there? I don't know how they handle that.
TH0R0NGIL : perhaps
TH0R0NGIL : depends where i'm at and how much internet we have
TH0R0NGIL : some places you only get it for work
VardaValar1 : Well, at least you know you're welcome here. : )
VardaValar1 : Lot of places even in civilian life. Aye.
TH0R0NGIL : :-D
VardaValar1 : We had Hurricane Ike come through here, on a computer for the first time in a week, thanks to Elwing having us over today. : )
VardaValar1 : No power at home.
TH0R0NGIL : oh that's no fun
TH0R0NGIL : didnt realize you were close to that
VardaValar1 : Makes one appreciate things.
VardaValar1 : North of Houston, just at the edge of the city. We were told to hunker down and not evacuate.
TH0R0NGIL : aha
VardaValar1 : Good thing too, not enough gasoline to evacuate around here.
VardaValar1 : We're all ok, getting house repairs done, playing cards, reading. : )
TH0R0NGIL : that's good
VardaValar1 : Pardon, afk a second, regular mob in here. : )
Eonwe Valar : Just to be sure, did you get my GPMU mail, Finrod?
Eonwe Valar : I know some didn't get through, want to make sure yours wasn't one of them.
fladrifv : namarie
VardaValar1 : Namarie
ArPharazonV : Namarie
fladrifv : transcript send
VardaValar1 : (who are we saying farewell to?)
VardaValar1 : Thank you. Was that to both Eonwe and me?
Eonwe Valar : Take care Fladrif :}
Eonwe Valar : Sleep well :}
ArPharazonV : I think that was to Fladrif :-)
VardaValar1 : Nighty night, Fladrif :-)
ArPharazonV : but the same will go for me in a few minutes, because I'm saving and sending and going to bed
ArPharazonV : should I send to both of you?
Eonwe Valar : Oh, reminder: please send transcripts with a CC to me :}
VardaValar1 : After another load of laundry, we'll be out of here and back to no-comp land.
ArPharazonV : CC?
VardaValar1 : Carbon Copy
Eonwe Valar : I'll still be taking care of the News Page until Varda's able to take it back up.
VardaValar1 : *kicks power cable but it doesn't light up*
VardaValar1 : The Valie of Light will have the lights back on eventually. :-)
VardaValar1 : oh, about the arrow in the rp
ArPharazonV : yes?
fladrifv has left the room.
VardaValar1 : they would all recognize it as a Mirkwood arrow, but probably figure it was an accident.
VardaValar1 : I wonder how Thranduil could punish such a deliberate act.
ArPharazonV : I know the one who had the arrow-piece was reluctant to give it to Calion because he recognized it as his family
ArPharazonV : but I'm not sure why this detail came up in the next meeting with Thranduil
ArPharazonV : I'm still a bit bothered by that detail
ArPharazonV : *why this detail did not come up
VardaValar1 : It will surely come up, but maybe not in front of us?
ArPharazonV : perhaps
Eonwe Valar : If Calion knew/noticed it, why did he not bring it up? :}
ArPharazonV : good question
VardaValar1 : Shall we have it come up now?
ArPharazonV : that's what I'm bothered with :-)
Eonwe Valar : If he didn't bring it up, he may have reasons.
VardaValar1 : Calion can go report it to Thranduil
ArPharazonV : fair enough, I can use it in my next post
VardaValar1 : Much soul-searching etc
ArPharazonV : I may have a problem with authority like Auros, but I should be loyal to my king...
VardaValar1 : We haven't said the audience is over, not really a council
ArPharazonV : but even when my brother's involved?
Eonwe Valar : Either way, I'm off in the woods thinking about how this could affect my report back to Elrond :}
Eonwe Valar : Audience is a good word. Wish it'd popped into my mind.
VardaValar1 : He's going to be found out, so better put the best spin on it possible, maybe say you want to go find him as the one most able to do it?
VardaValar1 : We have a "modify" button to handle "forgets". : ) I use it often enough.
ArPharazonV : that could work
ArPharazonV : really? that's odd, I usually only see the "last edited" statement on the bottom of my own posts :P
Eonwe Valar : I called it a Council a few posts back methinks, I'm a bit loathe to alter anything too far back.
VardaValar1 : I was wondering really though, what should Thranduil do if he found a kinslayer in his midst?
ArPharazonV : figured I was doing something you weren't ;-)
ArPharazonV : most likely unprecedented
VardaValar1 : Modify at the top for me.
VardaValar1 : It is unprecedented, but what could he do?
ArPharazonV : hmm
ArPharazonV : banish him?
ArPharazonV : imprison him?
Eonwe Valar : I pictured it more of Thrnaduil's council, he's getting briefings and I'm only there because it concerns the direction I'm going.
VardaValar1 : To where?
ArPharazonV : to the East, to the Avari perhaps?
VardaValar1 : Can't kill him since that would be kinslaying.
ArPharazonV : exactly
Eonwe Valar : That is a good question. What would be done with a kinslayer?
ArPharazonV : banishment and imprisonment are classical alternatives
VardaValar1 : Towards Mordor, not likely. Could be turned into an orc.
Eonwe Valar : Well, that could be debated.
VardaValar1 : My best guess is send him to sail to Valinor.
ArPharazonV : let the Valar deal with him? :-)
VardaValar1 : Aye, Phar, just hard to implement here.
VardaValar1 : Aye, purge his soul or whatever.
VardaValar1 : The elleth is not dead though.
ArPharazonV : anyway, as much as this is unfolding as a nice subject, you'll have to save it for next time, or continue without me
Eonwe Valar : Seems the classical treatment of a kinslayer is to be shunned.
ArPharazonV : because I *really* need to go
VardaValar1 : If she were, she would meet him there
VardaValar1 : Namarie, Phar :-)
Eonwe Valar : Sleep well Phar :}
ArPharazonV : and I'll add that if the story goes the way I've planned it, Thranduil will never have to deal with him
VardaValar1 : Shunning is tough in a tight, beleagured community.
ArPharazonV : but that won't happen until Angmar
VardaValar1 : Thranduil would not shirk his duty, I'm sure.
VardaValar1 : Ok. Well night night. I need to go too. :-)
VardaValar1 : Namarie until the photons dance again. :-)
Eonwe Valar : Sleep well :}
Eonwe Valar : I think we're going to have kinslaying as next week's topic.
ArPharazonV : allright, saving and sending
Eonwe Valar : I've got a couple things to say on the subject, and I wouldn't want them lost to After-meeting when everyone's leaving :}
VardaValar1 : That 's what the transcript helps with!
VardaValar1 : But aye.
VardaValar1 : and we could talk about this stuff on the forum too. : )
VardaValar1 : Namarie
ArPharazonV : namarie
ArPharazonV : saved
VardaValar1 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar : Take care Pharazon and Varda :}
ArPharazonV : will be sending to both of you
Eonwe Valar : Thanks.
ArPharazonV : and sent
ArPharazonV : Namarie, see you next week!
Eonwe Valar : See you then :}
