VardaValar1: He's also been working on programming that should make the tables very good.

VardaValar1: The new game is Lord of the Rings: Conquest (nothing to do with LotRO)
VardaValar1: It's being developed by Pandemic Studios through EA's LotR license
VardaValar1: and is supposed to come out around the end of the year, probably in time for Christmas.
VardaValar1: It's not going to be canon, but could be fun.

VardaValar1: I'm back to playing D&D tabletop after a very long time out. Great fun! [Note: Dirhavel playsD&D tabletop in a different group. Sauron, Gimli, and Varda D&D tabletop together.]

ArPharazonV: played some.. well, not sure I played Guild Wars, actually, could have been last week
ArPharazonV: but
ArPharazonV: I've played The Iron Plague, expansion to TA:Kingdoms
ArPharazonV: and I've been playing Rayman Raving Rabbids for the pc
ArPharazonV: not sure what type of game that actually qualifies under but it's similar to the earlier Rayman games in gameplay and graphic, but with an insane story with a lot of mad rabbits
VardaValar1: Are you getting to play anything with Fladrif?
VardaValar1: hehe
ArPharazonV: basically a sequence of trials, minigames, challenges
ArPharazonV: which you can unlock to play seperately
ArPharazonV: quite fun
ArPharazonV: and yes, I did play some Starcraft:Broodwar games this week with Fladrif

AriehnV: oh yes Helm arranged a wet visit at the cloud mesa

AriehnV: we took some liquid .. no juice as you can imagine
AriehnV: and visited our trainers .. in Mulgore
AriehnV: it was him , myself on finduilaswen a hunter and a healer
AriehnV: so we first had a drink .. got boozed up and our way out we .. guess flattened bloodhoof

AriehnV: got mobstormed by protectors but we had no trouble in dealing with them .. good firepower
AriehnV: it had the consequences of a retaliation in azure watch the next day but .. never mind it was fun
VardaValar1: Always consequences to any action.
AriehnV: aye sure no big surprise there unfortunately we werent able to mobilize more defenders as usual
AriehnV: but such is life :-)
VardaValar1: At least you're able to find Helm online. : )

VardaValar1: Elwing is pretty much holding that up alone, with rare visits by my family and Eonwe.
VardaValar1: Lothar server:
VardaValar1: That one is busy, but with only a small group and a number of them cross-guilded.
VardaValar1: Sauron and Bilbo have members in Valar and in Cold Rage Knights, so they can raid.
VardaValar1: Members are mostly getting elite flying mounts and having a lot of wild times.
VardaValar1: I'm the main slacker there. *cough*

VardaValar1: On to LotRO:
VardaValar1: Arien, you showed up on LotRO for a bit.

AriehnV: i rerolled my champion since i lost the epic plot somewhere
AriehnV: got my burglar to 15 and she is profficient as apprentice jeweller
VardaValar1: You don't lose the epic plot but you can outlevel it and have to catch up to get Radagast to talk to you.
VardaValar1: Sorry, not be high enough level.
AriehnV: i see
AriehnV: anyway starting new again
VardaValar1: Did we get you properly invited on new characters?

VardaValar1: yay!
VardaValar1: Dis-V also put another character back in kinship after getting a second account again.
VardaValar1: The Summer Festival has restarted with corrections made.
VardaValar1: The music boxes now work, the horse blanket is no longer neon green but reasonable
VardaValar1: The second racial dances now look different from the first ones.
VardaValar1: So run grab the dances as soon as you can. It ends Sept 1
VardaValar1: The Moria expansion is in progress, little signs of it pop up here and there.
VardaValar1: The Battle Instances are going by Gath Forthnir, have to keep wide awake and best to take a group of six.
VardaValar1: We opened them by collecting 70,000 Ring-lore, and they are for level 50's.

VardaValar1: Maybe if we work from history.
AriehnV: orcs seem to have them
VardaValar1: You mean, in a movie?
ArPharazonV: vik.. no, wait, not in Middle-earth
ArPharazonV: what did dwarf-helmets look like?
AriehnV has left the room.
VardaValar1: In the animated version, they stuck an ox-horn helmet on Boromir, totally nutty. : )
VardaValar1: Ancalagon is hoping very much to be able to use a horned helmet on his dwarf. : )
ArPharazonV: they also removed Boromir's pants, I think that's saying enough ;-)
VardaValar1: I can't think of any reference to a horned helmet in Middle-earth in the books, but maybe we can work out a possibility.
VardaValar1: Aye, thus making the saying, "Gondor has no pants. Gondor needs no pants."
VardaValar1: Anyway, in history, and Middle-earth is supposed to be pre our history,
VardaValar1: apparently the Celts had horned helmets of a sort, for ceremonies mainly
VardaValar1: rather the same way as American Indians used heads and pelts for ceremonies, trying to improve the hunt.

VardaValar1: So the Celts had the god, Cernunnos, with antlers, and some would wear antlers.
VardaValar1: They also had other things they wore, including feathers, like you see in Thor comics. : )
VardaValar1: The Gauls were Celts and had some similar headgear.
VardaValar1: Apparently during the Migration Period, (previously called Barbarian invasions)
VardaValar1: the Viking ancestors picked up a touch of that in their travels.
VardaValar1: They may have picked it up from Celts, Russians, Asians.
VardaValar1: But they tended to use something that looked like snakes or dragons on each side of the headgear, not ox horns.
VardaValar1: Those also seemed to have been for war dances or religious use, as it was for Celts or American Indians.
VardaValar1: There are some helmet depictions that look close to the ox horn type, but certainly nothing common about it.
VardaValar1: If AIM will cooperate, I picked up a few nice web articles.

VardaValar1: We have found a helmet with Cernunnos-style antlers in LotRO, so they must have done research already on the horned helms.
