Before-meeting:
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
ArPharazonV: Aiya
fladrifv: Aiya
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
fladrifv: Aiya varda
VardaValar1: Aiya Fladrif and Ar-Pharazon :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya Varda!
fladrifv has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Aiya Menel :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Eonwe : )
Star of Phaet has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: ok, I just had a whole bunch of chat invitations fail...
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
VardaValar1: Same here
Star of Phaet: Aiya folks
VardaValar1: Amaranth said she didn't get one.
VardaValar1: Aiya Gilraen :-)
Eonwe Valar: heya Gilraen
VardaValar1: Amaranth said hers updated itself this week, AIM.
ArPharazonV: mine has been bugging me for updates 2 days in a row now....
VardaValar1: Amazing we can still chat with them in IM.
ArPharazonV: :-)
Eonwe Valar: Mine hasn't bugged me for an update in a while.
VardaValar1: Some of us have it set to automatic update, some refused update.
Eonwe Valar: Oh, anyone notice we hit a new record of 166 people on the forum at once a couple days ago?
VardaValar1: O wow. :-)
VardaValar1: I wonder to what we owed that?
Eonwe Valar: I'm suspecting it has something to do with Varda's part added to the RP :}
VardaValar1: heh
Eonwe Valar: That'd be the most recent interesting thing added to it.
VardaValar1: Must have set their email notices.
VardaValar1: Why thank you. :-)
ArPharazonV: well, we did have a discussion in the meeting about a trivia question...
ArPharazonV: maybe people flocked to the forum to remind themselves what the question was!
Eonwe Valar: I mean the forum as a whole, not just the RP part either.
Eonwe Valar: hehe, maybe :}
VardaValar1: Hobbitlass19 said she just got an invitation at last but the click did nothing.
Eonwe Valar: I looked back on it and remembered what it was, then realized I still couldn't answer it :}
VardaValar1: Aye, I could not answer it off the top of my head as required in the LotR thread.
VardaValar1: After a certain length of time, weren't we supposed to have the questioner answer it and pose another question?
VardaValar1: Leaving it stagnant a long time gets people out of the habit.
Eonwe Valar: hmm, sounds about right. Checking right now.
VardaValar1: Just one of us. I'm willing to try it
Eonwe Valar: "First attempt to answer the question with your own knowledge.
Menelvagor Valar: hmm... good point... I believe I asked a question in one trivia or another a week or two back... and haven't visited the forum since :-(
Eonwe Valar: If, after a certain amount of time, no one has answered the question, the asker may either give clues or grant permission to look the answer up."
ArPharazonV: bad Menel!
VardaValar1: One week or two? We can update the time.
ArPharazonV: go check!
Eonwe Valar: Or they could just give the answer themselves and answer another. WOuld be about the same as letting people look it up.
Eonwe Valar: I'd say it's probably been long enough.
VardaValar1: Aye.
VardaValar1: I like the answer it and ask another.
VardaValar1: Keep it moving.
Eonwe Valar: last try was March 12th, so it's been about a month. That's long enough.
Eonwe Valar: Oh, Menel, you need to check the answer to your question on the Sil trivia thread :}
Eonwe Valar: That's been waiting for a response from you for a while too :}
VardaValar1: I'm going to do the update and see what happens. We may be unable to see each other except in side chat when it happens.
Eonwe Valar: Ok.
VardaValar1: can't
Eonwe Valar: Take a really bright star with you :}
Menelvagor Valar: Hmmm... Now that I look at the question.. I can't remember what the answer was lol :P
VardaValar1: One, it says this version is about to be blocked.
Eonwe Valar: Can't?
VardaValar1: Two, it says my comp can't support the new version.
Eonwe Valar: Ouch...
Menelvagor Valar: and uhm... it was 3 months back... *goes dark and hides in shame*
AriehnV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Arien!
AriehnV: Aiya Varda :-)
Eonwe Valar: Heya Arien.
VardaValar1: Arien, do you still have the unupdated AIM version?
AriehnV: aiya eonwe
ArPharazonV: Aiya
VardaValar1: I can't update due to the type of comp system, and this AIM version is about to be blocked.
AriehnV: its version 6.142.2
AriehnV: ouch
ArPharazonV: hmm, I might have to update soon as well, it says indeed that 5.9 will soon be blocked
ArPharazonV: won't do it today though, someone has to keep track of a transcript :P
VardaValar1: 5.9.6089 here
Eonwe Valar: So anyone excited about Starcraft 2? :}
Eonwe Valar: Remind me where I check my version info? :}
AriehnV: under Hel[p
AriehnV: Help and then about aim
Eonwe Valar: Aha, on the buddy list hting, not the window, heh.
AriehnV: anywhere i d think
ArPharazonV: I am, Eonwe :-) just finished the original Starcraft campaigns, will be hitting the expansion soon after I do the custom "Schezar" campaign downloadable from the battle.net starcraft website!
Eonwe Valar: 5.9.3861 for mine.
ArPharazonV: getting the lore back in my head, and familiarizing myself with many units!
VardaValar1: The last time I tried an updated version it was not nearly as good to work with as the old version. Not happy in any way about this.
AriehnV: maybe we need to resort to a different messenger
Eonwe Valar: You know, I think the Blizzard guys who did Starcraft are anime fans. Alan Schezar is the name of a mecha pilot from Escaflowne.
Menelvagor Valar: 6.5.9.1 here :P
ArPharazonV: I have exactly the same one as Varda
VardaValar1: Menel, you made it in with a new version? Then we need your help for invitations.
Menelvagor Valar: I tried inviting Amaranth as soon as you said she had troubles, but didn't work.
VardaValar1: uh oh
Menelvagor Valar: Maybe a relog might help? did the trick for me.
ArPharazonV: I'm not sure if Schezar campaign was actually made by Blizzard, doesn't have voices etc, but it's definitely professionally made
ArPharazonV: and they're hosting it on their own website, so even if they didn't make it, they definitely approve of it
ArPharazonV: so I figured I'd play through it before moving on :-)
Eonwe Valar: I "think" the scehzar goliath is actually in the heroes list in the game editor.
Eonwe Valar: *Schezar
ArPharazonV: it is? hmm... nevermind me then
VardaValar1: She's going to try to do the next update and see if Menel can bring her in then.
Eonwe Valar: I'll check in a second to make sure, but first..
Eonwe Valar: Actually, I'll save it for the gamign section.
VardaValar1: Sorry, we should be into the meeting now, but having invitation trouble.
ArPharazonV: oh, you're right, it is there... together with Magellan, Kazansky... all Schezar heroes unless I'm mistaken
Eonwe Valar: Kazansky is a Top Gun reference if memory serves.
Eonwe Valar: The wraith hero, right?
ArPharazonV: yep
ArPharazonV: and Magellan is the science vessel
Eonwe Valar: Ok, Top Gun reference.
Eonwe Valar: I just tried reinviting anyone not here that I could. Only Mycantelope(etc) and mordacil failed.
Eonwe Valar: Out of four.
VardaValar1: Mordacil might work as AerandirV
Eonwe Valar: Failed.
Menelvagor Valar: Amaranth seems to have the same version as I do. Exiting AIM now. Should do the trick as it did for me.
Hobbitlass19 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Yay!
Eonwe Valar: Heya Amaranth.
Hobbitlass19: Hooray! It worked finally.
VardaValar1: Congrats : )
Hobbitlass19: Hey, everyone.
VardaValar1: I may be blocked from future meetings on this computer at least.
Eonwe Valar: So they're blocking all 5.9 versions I guess?
VardaValar1: Please save the transcript. I'm going to try another computer.
Hobbitlass19: Is anyone else having trouble still? Or was I the last one?
Menelvagor Valar: Nah. I haven't had troubles since.
Eonwe Valar: There's still a couple we're having trouble getting invites to.
Menelvagor Valar: I think that when it does the update, it will block you from entering a chat room.
VardaValar1: Ok, maybe I should wait until actually blocked
Menelvagor Valar: simply exiting and re-opening seems to solve that permanently (until the next patch anyways)
VardaValar1: My computer is not able to do the update.
VardaValar1: It says my operating system does not support it.
Menelvagor Valar: well, as long as AIM does not block outdated versions, that's fine.
VardaValar1: It says it will be blocking my version.
Eonwe Valar: Sounds like exactly what they're getting ready to do to me :}
AriehnV: ah that is a bummer
Menelvagor Valar: Well, if updating doesn't work, one can always try to redownload the fully updated version :-)
VardaValar1: Eonwe, are you able to update on that computer?
AriehnV: what about Trillian ?
AriehnV: would that run?
Eonwe Valar: I haven't tried yet, was going to put it off until after the meeting, but I can give it a go now if you'd like.
VardaValar1: Aye, going to have to pull somthing else or more likely move to another comp.
VardaValar1: no, don't
VardaValar1: Eonwe, go ahead and run the meeting today, if you have time.
Eonwe Valar: Sure.
Menelvagor Valar: I don't like Trillian.
AriehnV: its a software where you can run all sorts of messengers without the actual software
VardaValar1: I'll try to im some of these folks that can't seem to be reached.
Menelvagor Valar: It messes up the difference I have between AIM and MSN.
VardaValar1: Menel, I have to try something that will run on my OS.
Eonwe Valar: Let's begin the meeting now.
VardaValar1: (half an hour late already)
ArPharazonV: I think Fladrif had a messenger that supported AIM and MSN and was quite light...
ArPharazonV: something like... penguin or pidgin or some animal name like that!

Eonwe Valar: Elen Sila Lumenn Omentielvo!
Eonwe Valar: Membership news: Alot of it above :}
Eonwe Valar: (bah, thought I clicked off italics..)
Eonwe Valar: New member Hurin in LotRo.
Eonwe Valar: He was once a friend of Irmo's from DAoC.
Eonwe Valar: New Tolkien Only Member: Starlight-(TV)
Eonwe Valar: Any other member news?
top

Eonwe Valar: Ok, on to Web News:
Eonwe Valar: Along with that new Tolkien-Only member comes a new story :}
Eonwe Valar: "Of Snowballs and Changes" by Starlight-(TV)
VardaValar1: She says she has about 20 more that she is editing before sending. : )
Eonwe Valar: If for some reason you don't know where to find the stories section, go to the web page, click on Tolkien, and you'll find a link to the stories section there :}
Eonwe Valar: 20 eh? Sounds like you'll have your hands even more full soon :}
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authors/Starlight/stories/OfSnowballsandChanges.htm
VardaValar1: No worries.
VardaValar1: Arien has sent in a story for me to edit. I got it, Arien, just before the meeting. : )
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: Thanks for sending it. : )
AriehnV: good :-) welcome to it
Eonwe Valar: Games Page webwork: Planned work coming up, and some work on the search program for the Tolkien Site, after Mid-May.
VardaValar1: Work on the Search Engine on my side is ongoing, through D now in articles.
Eonwe Valar: Games:
Eonwe Valar: Forum:
VardaValar1: wait
Eonwe Valar: New Category: Starcraft 2. New Board: Starcraft 2 Pre-release Discussion.
Eonwe Valar: Pardon, go ahead.
VardaValar1: Phar has some possibly web and/or member news from Fladrif.
ArPharazonV: I gave them to Eonwe too, he said he'd think about where to put them
ArPharazonV: but sure, I can give them now
VardaValar1: ok, Eonwe's conducting
VardaValar1: Up to him where. : )
VardaValar1: More data suggests in Tolkien.
ArPharazonV: very well, I'll save it for Tolkien
Eonwe Valar: I was thinking perhaps Tolkien, as it might spark discussion there.

Eonwe Valar: Games:
Eonwe Valar: As announced, new Starcraft 2 stuff on our forum. Make use of them :}
Eonwe Valar: World of Warcraft:
Eonwe Valar: General: There's signups for a WoW tournament held by Blizzard if you're interested in that kind of thing. Costs money to get in though, so do so at your own risk :}
Eonwe Valar: Questing:
Menelvagor Valar: PvP tournament as far as I know btw.
Eonwe Valar: Aye, it was a PvP tournament. Thought I mentoined that, but apparently didn't. Thanks.
Eonwe Valar: Lothar: Afraid I have nothing to report, except that I got my Deep Thunder this past week. I've been too busy preparing projects for classes to get too much game time in.
Eonwe Valar: We have the Anvil on Sunwill Isle, though, and 3 days about were at about 40% towards having the docks.
Eonwe Valar: *Sunwell, bah
Eonwe Valar: I'm sure Bilbo and Sauron have been running something or other :} Same with Arwen :}
Eonwe Valar: Elwing and Eowyn appear to have popped in as well.
VardaValar1: Yes, and so have I. : )
VardaValar1: Sauron can now make 20 slot bags.
Eonwe Valar: Cool :}
Eonwe Valar: Congrats to Sauron :}
VardaValar1: over 3 days to make one piece of primal mooncloth, however.
Eonwe Valar: Anyone else get very briefly knocked off there?
ArPharazonV: not me
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, was odd, happened and was back all in less than a second.
VardaValar1: He does the 20 slot bags on his Thauron character (real name of Sauron by the way, early times)
Eonwe Valar: Oh, there is one thing more to add on my list:
Eonwe Valar: My brother recently got his Epci flying mount training, and so that means that he and I have been working on Netherwing dailies whenever I can.
VardaValar1: Excellent. : )
Eonwe Valar: Uldaman: I have nothing to report here, unfortunately.
Eonwe Valar: Epci = epic.
VardaValar1: I was on Uldaman with Elwing
VardaValar1: Leveled up on two characters.
Menelvagor Valar: Ah, I thought that was an abbreviation for Epic Pilot Certification Information
VardaValar1: We are using Tintalle to hold money for the opening of our guild bank there.
VardaValar1: Has a whole 3 gold due to our little guys' running this week.
VardaValar1: Be a while to hit 100 : )
Eonwe Valar: Cool :}
Eonwe Valar: Good luck hitting 100g :}
VardaValar1: Long haul from now. we think, but thanks. : )
Menelvagor Valar: If only I could transfer my entire account to the US servers :P
Menelvagor Valar: oh wait... Uldaman is Horde.
Eonwe Valar: Aye
Menelvagor Valar: Nah, wouldn't matter then *grin*
Eonwe Valar: Argent Dawn: Arien, anything to report?
AriehnV: aye short but sweet
VardaValar1: Go Horde ;-)
AriehnV: Helm was kind enough to run Ariehn, my rogue through Zul Farak my favourite instance
Menelvagor Valar: Not many people would share that sentiment :-)
AriehnV: we had no big trouble, i died twice due to first being a bit uncareful at the stairs but and lost the big baddy for one of the quests so we had to run twice
Menelvagor Valar: for just exactly that reason: "the stairs of impending doom"
AriehnV: one wouldnt believe it but my sweet little rogue, 46 at the time , managed to save his behind (66 at the time) from the trolls
AriehnV: one blind, one tanked off by his pet, i patched him up with first aid and he managed to get a potion l.... saved
AriehnV: but that was all for valar questing this week :-) so thus endeth my report
AriehnV: was fun , i like that instance :-D
VardaValar1: Arien, have you seen Feanor in Argent Dawn?
AriehnV: not for a long time#
VardaValar1: Thanks.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Arien.
Eonwe Valar: LotRO:
Eonwe Valar: Anything to report?
Menelvagor Valar: If I could interject here for a moment?
Eonwe Valar: Problem, Menel?
Menelvagor Valar: There was, yes.
Eonwe Valar: With?
Menelvagor Valar: and I have to go to bed, so would like to say it now :-)
Menelvagor Valar: LotRO :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Varda already knows about it, but would like to let the rest of the people know :-)
Menelvagor Valar: There has been a problem with my order of the US version of LotRO.
Menelvagor Valar: This has delayed the shipping quite a bit.
Menelvagor Valar: However, I called their customer support service (twice) and have now found a solution.
Menelvagor Valar: So tomorrow I will implement the solution and I should be able to play in about a week.
Menelvagor Valar: full version this time of course *grin*
VardaValar1: Good luck!
Eonwe Valar: Congrats and good luck :}
Menelvagor Valar: Thanks.
Menelvagor Valar: As soon as I get it in, I will get a lifelong membership, as that's quite cheap over here :-)
Menelvagor Valar: And with that, I will sign off and go to bed.
Eonwe Valar: Think it's $300 US now?
VardaValar1: Good night!
Menelvagor Valar: only 200 or so euros.
Hobbitlass19: Sleep well!
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well Menel.
ArPharazonV: Namarie Menel
Menelvagor Valar: Namarie and till next time!
Menelvagor Valar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Varda has some LotRo news. Her floor.
VardaValar1: Also in LotRO, downtime for server work here and there for Monday morning and for Tuesday afternoon. Trouble is not in your set.
VardaValar1: We have a Rift run scheduled with the Black Lions on the 18th, 19th, and 20th.
VardaValar1: First two day 9pm EDT, last day 6pm EDT.
VardaValar1: We are getting better with the friend channel too. : )
VardaValar1: The lot of us are quite active, but nothing I can think of specifically to report.
VardaValar1: End report.
Eonwe Valar: Thanks Varda.
VardaValar1: oops
Eonwe Valar: Yes?
VardaValar1: We have an April update, free.
VardaValar1: Includes the area of Forochel, quests concerning Last-king Arvedui's fate,
VardaValar1: about 100 new ones.
VardaValar1: Ok, that's it. : )
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Eonwe Valar: A link to the Dev Diary on that Content update can be found on the Games Page. You remember how to get to the Games Page ,right? :}
ArPharazonV: *gasp* we have a website? ;-)
VardaValar1: Some people think we just have a forum, like some other gaming groups. The forum is almost an aside to us, heh.
Eonwe Valar: I see "we have a website" in so many guild ads on WoW... :} Of course few if any of them have their own domain name :}
VardaValar1: and not a lot of content.
VardaValar1: Would be nice if our bunch would use the forum for raid signups though.
Eonwe Valar: Yeah.
VardaValar1: Right now they just say sure I'll come in game chat.
Hobbitlass19: I'll remember that when I'm big enough to go on raids. :-)
Eonwe Valar: I guess prodding them towards the forums doesn't work :}
Eonwe Valar: Like "Let us know on the forum thread about it so we remember to expect you." or something like that :}
Eonwe Valar: Always handier to use the forum than to keep a sticky-note nex to the desk anyway.
Eonwe Valar: *next
Eonwe Valar: Anyway, lastly for game section: Anyone play anything besides WoW LotRO this week? We know Phar did :}
Eonwe Valar: I dabbled in the ME mod again.
ArPharazonV: I did not just Starcraft!
ArPharazonV: I also finished Zuma Deluxe after a few months of trying... last few levels are quite difficult, but not impossible or so I've proven ;-)
Eonwe Valar: hehe
Eonwe Valar: Anyone else, or shall we go to Tolkien now? :}
ArPharazonV: nah, that's pretty much it... I got exalted with my 24th faction in WoW, but nothing special :-)
top

Eonwe Valar: Ok, Tolkien then:
Eonwe Valar: Phar has some stuff from Fladrif that I thought just might spark some discussion, or if not be interesting. Phar, go ahead.
ArPharazonV: Fladrif, thinking he might not be back online in time (we see he was right)
ArPharazonV: gave me some links to bring up in the meeting, he referred to it as "ent news"
ArPharazonV: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24065386/ is a news article about the discovery of what are likely the oldest living trees in the world
ArPharazonV: at 8000 years, they may quite come to rival the Ents themselves, though there's nothing about them showing signs of sentience or other characteristics the trees of Fangorn seem to have picked up in their long years :-)
VardaValar1: Not quite so tall either
ArPharazonV: a somewhat related subject is http://82.94.219.20/~jpa/english1.htm a website about the oldest trees in the Netherlands and Western Europe, which might be interesting for those who like trees and Ents and live in our regions :-)
VardaValar1: O pardon, not bristlecones but a cluster of Norway spruce.
VardaValar1: says illegal operation Shockwave Flash, I may crash suddenly.
ArPharazonV: they beat the previously thought oldest trees by 3000 years, quite impressive
VardaValar1: Some of the first trees to come up after the glaciers passed.
VardaValar1: Suppose ents would have simply walked away from oncoming glaciers? : )
ArPharazonV: heh, likely
Eonwe Valar: Why when they could've just cracked the glaciers and made the glaciers move around them? :}
VardaValar1: hmm, maybe so. Might be a tad chilly.
AriehnV: they could have pushed them aside i think with their hands
Eonwe Valar: Ent gloves :}
AriehnV: *chuckles*
Eonwe Valar: Well, since the chat seems to be relatively low, shall we adjourn until next week?
VardaValar1: Glaciers are awfully huge and just keep coming.
VardaValar1: Might be better to take a hike.
VardaValar1: Okies, Eonwe.
Eonwe Valar: We can keep chatting, it just seems we're not getting much of it.
VardaValar1: Aye
AriehnV: i keep my brances crossed for you that you will have less net and messnger problems next week
Eonwe Valar: And an army of Ents could crack a glacier probably :}
VardaValar1: May have to move to another comp, kick someone off.
AriehnV: i understand that takes a bit of the joy away
VardaValar1: Our best game comp is about to go in the shop, likely tomorrow.
AriehnV: for repair
AriehnV: ?
Eonwe Valar: Last official message of the meeting: Participants in the RP should check the RP :} (Not for a post from me, before I get your hopes up, heh).
VardaValar1: awww
Eonwe Valar: *bangs gavel*
top

After-meeting:
VardaValar1: Who are we waiting on for the rp post then?
Eonwe Valar: I'm still trying to figure out what to post for Auros.
VardaValar1: Anyone can react though. Several things have happened.
ArPharazonV: I'm not sure, but I'll attempt to make a post next week, or at least make a few edits to my old one concerning time-frames we discussed a while ago
VardaValar1: Calion ought to have a reaction.
Eonwe Valar: We have a Dwarf (and an Avar?)
VardaValar1: Aye
VardaValar1: Calion knows the girl personally, the one injured.
VardaValar1: The Dwarf and Avar are getting pulled along with Auros and Fainan, lot of excitement going on in a strange place.
VardaValar1: They need to decide whether they want to be in the party if Auros is going, or what they would do if he refuses. Would be interesting on their characters.
VardaValar1: ok, I'm off.
VardaValar1: Namarie for now.
Hobbitlass19: Take care, everyone. Namarie!
VardaValar1 has left the room.
Hobbitlass19 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Take care
ArPharazonV: ok, saving and sending transcript
