Topic from Arien-(Valar): I recently read the Farmer Giles of Ham
in an edition together with the master's original, previously untold
version of that tale .. quite nice and something different to all the
ME stories But there are similarities, at least some same factors
turn up in that story as they do for example in the Hobbit .. I wonder if we get them all together...

Eonwe Valar: Hellgate:London.
Eonwe Valar: This game was created by a group of former Blizzard employees who worked on the Diablo series.
Eonwe Valar: Flagship Studios is the name of their company.
Eonwe Valar: They've said in interviews that this game is the
"spiritual successor" to Diablo. Of course since Blizzard owns the
rights to the Diablo series, it couldn't be an actual sequel.
Eonwe Valar: Pallando so far has told me that he has it. If you decide to get it, let me know for the Games Page.
Eonwe Valar: There's no monthly fee to play it, but to get continuous updates, there is.
Eonwe Valar: Anyone play anything besides WoW and LotRO?

ArPharazonV: tried to play the expansion to Dungeon Siege, Legends of Aranna

I can't continue without it, and after trying out some forums the only
answer I get is reinstalling...

Eonwe Valar: New patch, 2.3 supposed to come out Tuesday (yes, they actually announced it, but only because it has to do with Season 3 Arena).

Eonwe Valar: Along with many other changes, we're supposed to be
getting guild banks, though each page is going to be pretty expensive
it appears.
Eonwe Valar: about 96 slots per page though.

use it for the same reason that Azshara tried to use the Well of

Eonwe Valar: Aye, these are likely going to be the last before Wrath of
the Lich King. They don't want another Naxxramas happening, where when
the expansion came out barely anyone had been in.

Eonwe Valar: Another late Friday for me unfortunately, so I missed
other Guild members on. I did group with Beline, though, and we went to
Shadowmoon to harass the Blood Elves trying to train to be Demon
Hunters.
Eonwe Valar: We freed Azaloth,... several times for kicks,... and
watched him tear apart the captors, only to be taken down by one of the
Demon Hunters, with Beline and I chiming in a well-timed Exorcism
and/or Hammer of Wrath.

Eonwe Valar: Beline = Dracxil's Paladin for those who do not recognize the Beline name.

AriehnV: I think the reporting is more down to Phara tonight since we did no questing as such together

ArPharazonV: allright! let's start with the biggest and most valar-related news that I have concerning WoW...

ArPharazonV: after the old raidgroup based on my guild died, our guild
has grown smaller and smaller, and its leaders less and less
interested, and basically gave up on it...
ArPharazonV: I wasn't ready to give up hope yet on what's still the
oldest guild on the server, however, and stepped up to take over as
active leader

ArPharazonV: my leadership skills aren't that good, but I figured, someone has to try
ArPharazonV: so, I became leader of The High Guard, promoted some active people, and invited a few new people into the guild
ArPharazonV: and among these new people, are 1 character belonging to Arien and one belonging to Menelvagor
ArPharazonV: so we're all a bit united in the same guild once again!

fladrifv: Aiya, sorry little late
ArPharazonV: considering Menelvagor was a co-founder of this guild, he was especially glad to be back after 2 years :-)

ArPharazonV: well, I haven't checked, but unless your account has been deleted, you should be there

ArPharazonV: so now we have another place to communicate, especially one that brings back 2 year old memories
ArPharazonV: and we're integrating a bit more :-)

ArPharazonV: another piece of news, some raidgroups (including our
group that is actually months dead already) came together to form a
40-man this weekend, and we raided Naxxramas in the Eastern Plaguelands
with 40 lvl 70s

ArPharazonV: we were the first on the server to see Sapphiron and Kel'thuzad...
ArPharazonV: and the first to kill them
ArPharazonV: so even though we're 10 levels higher than we should be,
and it's a year since its release, it's still an achievement to clear
Naxx for the first time ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Congrats.
ArPharazonV: also, last news, I want to start raiding more regularly
again, so I applied to a raidgroup that best fits my schedule
ArPharazonV: and I hope I get accepted eventually, after a time of trial :-)
ArPharazonV: one of the raids continues on Sunday right up to the start of the meeting, but it shouldn't be much of a problem
Eonwe Valar: ? You're going to try to keep one group together and still be available to raid for another group?
ArPharazonV: well, our guild is pretty small and not raiding, and requires little maintenance
ArPharazonV: and the raidgroup is quite casual, with a minimal attendance of 2 raids a week
Eonwe Valar: Heh, minimal attendence.
ArPharazonV: so it should be fine
ArPharazonV: no, not even a minimal attendance
ArPharazonV: a minimal availability, even
ArPharazonV: so even if you're around for 2 out of 4 raidnights, you're still in
ArPharazonV: that seems rather casual to me :-)
ArPharazonV: it should all fit right in with my study etc
ArPharazonV: I just can't stay away from the 25-man instances ;-)

MelchiahAC: I know, but it's not only college. A lot of my close
friends are going thru some hard stuff, and they're like sisters to me.
And I need to be there for them right now. This stuff just takes a lot
of time to sort out

Eonwe Valar: As long as you're able to stay in contact to some extent,
or at least tell us before you go without contact for an extended time,
your name and spot in the Valar Guild is typically safe.

how many have actual the background knowledge for it but let s try
AriehnV: Recently i read the Farmer Giles of Ham , one of Tolkiens other stories set in a fictional sort of medieval england
AriehnV: it is a slight difference to what we know from the middlearth
stories but there are similarities .. especially to the hOBBIT

Middle-Earth, I think in a smiliar if not equal vein of the Hobbit, so
it is worth a read.

Eonwe Valar: I believe I first read it out of a copy of the Tolkien Reader I got in a library.

in the edition i have its only with the first version that tolkien wrote

Eonwe Valar: My personal copy pairs Farmer Giles with Smith of Wooten Major.
Eonwe Valar: And it seems I'd forgotten I have a copy of Tolkien's translations of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Pearl, and Sir Orfeo.
Eonwe Valar: Now if only I had hit copy of Beowulf.

AriehnV: its so short it was not enough to fill one book
