ArPharazonV: just came from a warcraft 3 game with Flad
VardaValar1: Eonwe will not be able to join us due to Father's Day activities.
VardaValar1: I am in the middle of helping the Daddy here put up wallpaper and we have the water off while we go over an area of pipes.
ArPharazonV: I see
ArPharazonV: we don't really celebrate father's day much
VardaValar1: We have 2 new members, one story up
ArPharazonV: by the way, I watched a show called Grand Designs, about people having houses built, usually with some unusual aspect to the house
VardaValar1: I know you didn't want to be a Maia, so could you drag in Arien or Menelvagor to run the meeting?
ArPharazonV: today's episode was about a house under the ground, and I was immediately reminded of Hobbits
VardaValar1: cool :-)
ArPharazonV: and there were some interesting issues I wondered about, whether hobbits had to deal with them too
VardaValar1: If they can't run the meeting, will you do it?
ArPharazonV: water problems, pressure on walls, etc...

ArPharazonV: the dreadlord is fun against pcs, with sleep... nothing they can do against it

VardaValar1: I have to go help with the wallpaper and getting water back to the house.

ArPharazonV: As the news-page states, and Varda confirmed to me before she went afk, we have 2 new members this week!
ArPharazonV: Both seem to have been recruited from LotRO, and their names are Gorlim-(V) and Muzgash-(V)
ArPharazonV: I'm just quoting from the newspage here, so bear with me...
ArPharazonV: Gorlim used to play EQ, DAoC, and WoW but has now dropped them for LotRO. He has been gaming in LotRO with our higher end players for a few weeks and even then was still willing to join the guild. He tested 5/5 with Irmo.
ArPharazonV: He's 51 from Texas. He's read H, LotR, and the Sil, and I've [Varda, I guess] been told he's read other Tolkien books as well. His favorite LotR character is Gimli because, unlike some others, he's content with what and where he is.
ArPharazonV: Muzgash was scouted by Miriel and tested by Irmo in LotRO as Nitryt. He's 24 from Virginia and plays both City of Heroes and LotRO. He's read the LotR and his favorite character there is Aragorn for his strong leadership.
ArPharazonV: Varda also mentioned that one known by the name/email zdexter (AT) mac.com has would like to join the guild, but we ("we" being Ar-Pharazon and the main guild) have received no further information so far
ArPharazonV: Does anyone else have further additions to make to these 3 news-items, or is there any other membership news?

GilraenV: Nope :-)

ArPharazonV: It appears not to be the case, and I cannot see any reports on the forum either
ArPharazonV: WoW Lothar: For that we *do* have a report on the forum, written by Eonwe himself:
ArPharazonV: "Fangorn, Bilbo, and I completed some quests in Netherstorm.
ArPharazonV: With all three of us, we defeated Netherock, bringing in a mage who also needed the quest, defeated Naberius twice, once with the help of a druid named Ragherwind, the second time just we three.
ArPharazonV: For the second time we also did the quests leading up to the fight.
ArPharazonV: Fangorn had to go, so Bilbo and I pressed on. We two completed several quests in the Ruins of Farahlon.
ArPharazonV: We gathered the Ata'mai crystal twice, cleared out some demon dogs and floating eyes, and placed beacons for some guys up on Stormspire.
ArPharazonV: We then stepped into Netherstone and gathered some Farahlite from the giants there. We made a second visit to deal with the boss.
ArPharazonV: . Afterwards we took a trip to Manaforge Ara, cleared out the mine, and dealt with the overseer, inviting a hunter who needed the quest to join us.
ArPharazonV: With the Hunter and the help of a rogue, we put a stop to the goings on at Manaforge Ara. After that, Bilbo called it a night, but I pressed on.
ArPharazonV: I completed the diagnostic on the generator near Stormspire, then went to Eco-dome Farfield to test out the repairs and clear out some raptors.
ArPharazonV: Afterwards, I went to the Protectorate base near Manaforge Ultris and helped them deal with the Etherium. I also helped them get their teleporter in the crystal area working and took out Arcanos under Manaforge Ultris.
ArPharazonV: Varda also came in on her low level Priest and completed several quests for Onu at the Master's Glaive, including gathering mathystra relics."
ArPharazonV: And thus concludes Eonwe's report on Lothar.
ArPharazonV: The report he has written for WoW Uldaman is a tad shorter:
ArPharazonV: "This week Elwing and Eonwë were both on their hunters, though in different areas due to level difference. Eonwë's orc hunter Kalmo leveled twice while completing quests in the Barrens. Elwing was working on Leatherworking."

ArPharazonV: And maybe it did happen, and I just wasn't any part of it. In any case, I have no report.

ArPharazonV: Fladrif and I have gotten together a few times in Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, Starcraft, and Starcraft: Brood War
ArPharazonV: we had some server-problems at first, but afterwards we played a few games on battle.net and there was loads of fun to be had

VardaValar1: hi, back and forth. Tons of us have been playing LotRO.
ArPharazonV: great, then you must have a report :-)
VardaValar1: And on the 13th, we got a huge new expansion area
VardaValar1: We've been running around in it having a high old time.
ArPharazonV: great!
VardaValar1: Plus new stuff for musicians, such as new notations and abilities to hook up to your other music
VardaValar1: Seems like someone's on most of the time.
VardaValar1: And often we run full groups plus others
VardaValar1: A full Fellowship is six at the moment
VardaValar1: Raids this last patch increased so we can run a 24-mam
VardaValar1: man
VardaValar1: and I have to run wrestle wallpaper again :-)

VardaValar1: Our new guy, Gorlim. How many know about him and what he did?

VardaValar1: Gorlim-(V) called himself the Unhappy as something of a joke when name after name was already taken. : )
ArPharazonV: really now?
ArPharazonV: Gorlim had a wife whom he lost while he was away in battle, and when he came back his house was burned and his wife gone
VardaValar1: Aye. And he mourned for his wife. When he saw something that looked like her, he was lured into a trap.
ArPharazonV: he had hoped that she, Eilinel, had gotten away instead of being captured and/or killed, and returned to the ruins of the house from time to time to see if she was there
ArPharazonV: exactly, Sauron tricked him by making him think Eilinel was at the window one night and as he approached her she disappeared, while he was captured

ArPharazonV: after being tortured, Gorlim promised Sauron to reveal Barahir's hiding place in exchange for reunion with his wife
VardaValar1: Aiya Excelsior

ArPharazonV: and after doing so, Sauron kept his word, and paid Gorlim for his treachery.. by killing him
ArPharazonV: after revealing that Eilinel was indeed long dead
VardaValar1: That gave him reunion with his wife, as promised.
VardaValar1: Dangerous to make a deal with Sauron. He may deliver, but not quite as hoped.
excelsiorjss: indeed
VardaValar1: Sauron didn't make many deals. Can we think of even one other?
excelsiorjss: hmm
ArPharazonV: when Sauron came upon Barahir Beren was not with the party, and Gorlim appeared before Beren, confessing what he had done and begging for forgiveness, prior to disappearing forever... but Beren was too late to save his father
ArPharazonV: he made a deal with Luthien, though that was her initiative
VardaValar1: Gorlim's fea appeared, needing to make things right before leaving.
ArPharazonV: I suppose his dealing with the ring-makers could be included too, though they were not aware of his true nature
VardaValar1: What was the deal with Luthien?
ArPharazonV: if I recall correctly, he revealed to her the words of power over his stronghold in exchange for Huan not killing him
VardaValar1: And it was a stronghold that he had taken over from Finrod.
ArPharazonV: true enough... so where did the words come from?
VardaValar1: I would assume he found a way to "change the locks" by becoming the new owner?
VardaValar1: or add locks.
ArPharazonV: could be... but the words were still enough to bring it down alltogether
VardaValar1: I don't remember. Time to dig out the books again : )

ArPharazonV: and thus goes the introduction of Huan, and starts his part in the story of Luthien

ArPharazonV: if I recall right they went on to Sauron's tower, where Luthien challenged Sauron and he kept sending out his wolves, one by one, but they were all killed by Huan
excelsiorjss: I believe so, I'd paste more, but I'm juggling several conversations in rl , and only checking my comp every few mins
ArPharazonV: after his greatest wolf, Draugluin, fell, Sauron himself came out in werewolf form, and was defeated also by Huan, and fearing to go back to Morgoth defeated as a bodyless spirit, he made the deal with Luthien and Huan we spoke off
ArPharazonV: granting her the words of power over the tower in exchange for his life, and while he fled away Luthien brought down the tower and freed Beren
ArPharazonV: they went on to face Celegorm and Curufin I think, and using their dagger to seize one of the Silmarils succeeded in their quest initially, though Carcharoth, descendant of Draugluin and greatest wolf that ever lived
ArPharazonV: ate Beren's hand and the Silmaril, causing him to go mad and flee to the south, eventually rampaging through the forests of Doriath
ArPharazonV: a party of among others Beren and Huan hunted Carcharoth, but Huan and Beren were slain in the battle or as a result of it... and thus ends Huan's story
