After-meeting

Before-meeting:
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
Star of Phaet has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya
Star of Phaet: That time of day already Eo? :-)
Star of Phaet: Hihi
Eonwe Valar: Yep :}
Star of Phaet: I don't know why, but I'm always surprised to see the time
Eonwe Valar: hehe
Star of Phaet: ^^;
Star of Phaet: how're you?
Eonwe Valar: Doing good. And you?
Star of Phaet: I'm not bad
Star of Phaet: cold
Star of Phaet: *shiver*
Star of Phaet: Any plans for New Years?
Eonwe Valar: Yeah, it's a bit cold here too.
Eonwe Valar: Stay up till midnight, drink champagne and/or wine at midnight :}
Eonwe Valar: Stay up till sometime between 2 and 4 after that :}
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Eonwe and Gilraen!
Eonwe Valar: Heya Varda :}
VardaValar1: Happy New Year's!
Star of Phaet: I think we have Bucks Fizz somewhere
Eonwe Valar: Happy New Year's :}
Star of Phaet: Hihi Varda
Star of Phaet: New Years greetings
VardaValar1: Good to see you! What's a Buck's Fizz? :-)
Star of Phaet: champagne (or sparkling wine ;-)) with orange juice in it
Eonwe Valar: We were just talking about plans for New year's :}
VardaValar1: ah ok :-)
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, doesn't sound too bad.
Star of Phaet: it's quite nice, actually
Star of Phaet: quite popular over here
VardaValar1: We had glazed spiral cut ham and black-eyed peas for lunch. Going over to Elwing's tonight.
Eonwe Valar: OJ and wine work fairly wel together from my experience.
VardaValar1: I'm not on my own computer right now. Any chance someone can save and email the transcript?
Eonwe Valar: *raises hand*
Eonwe Valar: Got you covered :}
VardaValar1: Ohh thank you!
VardaValar1: He's a good Vala to have at your back in-game or in-life!
Eonwe Valar: Wow, if we're the only ones here tonight, this is going to be a very quick meeting :}
VardaValar1: hang on a sec
Star of Phaet: hehehe
VardaValar1: Thranduil and Ancalagon said they're coming
Eonwe Valar: I sent out an invite to everyone I saw on.
Eonwe Valar: ok
Star of Phaet: Gwaihir was forced to work late because the parking lot at his work was snowed in, so he won't be joining us
VardaValar1: They're currently in the game which we can't mention
Sarujil has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya!
Eonwe Valar: There's Ancalagon :]
VardaValar1: One :-)
Eonwe Valar: I know of no game of which you speak ;}
Star of Phaet: That Which May Not Be Named!
VardaValar1: surrrre : )
Star of Phaet: hehe
VardaValar1: Ok, got my list invited
Eonwe Valar: Btw, my apologies for not making it to Friday's Guild questing. The rain that I thought was all innocent and calm turned into some fairly serious storms, apparently enough to set off some tornado alarms,..
VardaValar1: Using AIMTriton, not too thrilled with it.
Eonwe Valar: and all this while I was out and about.
Bookie032785 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Meneldil : )
Bookie032785: Happy New Years, all. :-)
Eonwe Valar: Heya Meneldil :}
Bookie032785: Aiya.
VardaValar1: Happy New Year's!
VardaValar1: Anc, is Thranduil coming?
Eonwe Valar: Happy New Year's :}
Eonwe Valar: (Guess I better get a New Year's Thread started on the Forum if someone hasn't already :}
VardaValar1: Fangorn says hi from WoW
VardaValar1: Good idea!
Eonwe Valar: Hey Fangorn :}
Star of Phaet: Greeting and Happy New Year to all
VardaValar1: I answered the two trivia forum threads
Eonwe Valar: Btw Varda, did you get my WoW mail? :}
VardaValar1: You guys all had pieces of the answers, made it a tough call
VardaValar1: I did go through the mail on five characters, missed one
VardaValar1: Get my snowball? : )
Eonwe Valar: It was sent to Varda. Something I thought she could use :}
VardaValar1: Thanks!
Eonwe Valar: Aye, I got the Snowballs, thanks :}
VardaValar1: My WoWmail has been odd lately. Prompt me?
Eonwe Valar: It's a stack of Felcloth :}
VardaValar1: Woot!
VardaValar1: Thanks!
VardaValar1: Eowyn is now helping make mooncloth
VardaValar1: So we split the felcloth and make twice as much :-)
Eonwe Valar: Cool :} so we've got two tailors we know of making mooncloth now. That'll help :}
VardaValar1: It's her tailor, Fangorn is checking the name for me : )
VardaValar1: Mairawyn
VardaValar1: 53 warlock
VardaValar1: "Horse lady"
VardaValar1: or "horse maiden"
VardaValar1: Hardly anyone showing up. Not sure if it's the fast time out on this different AIM program
VardaValar1: Shall start anyway? Over two of us. : )
Eonwe Valar: Aye
top

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
Eonwe Valar: Anyone else coming in can catch up.
VardaValar1: Right!
VardaValar1: Membership
VardaValar1: I've been seeing guild friends around still : )
VardaValar1: If we all keep an eye out for people we'd like to meet and play with again, we can have a fair collection of them for gaming and chat.
VardaValar1: You can give them the guild friend channel name and our website
VardaValar1: If lucky, they've read LotR and can become members, even cross-guilded
VardaValar1: Also under membership
VardaValar1: we are in the part of the year for the activity sweep.
VardaValar1: Anyone on the Members page who doesn't show "2007" in the right hand column needs to contact me to be on the 2007 roster.
VardaValar1: If you guys here see someone active who isn't shown on that list, let me know. : )
VardaValar1: That has saved some members who didn't know they were on the endangered species list.
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
top

VardaValar1: Web News:
VardaValar1: Currently in my editing box but incomplete is a new article by Barahir, which will bring us to our Tolkien topic tonight. : )
VardaValar1: I'd hoped to have it up for you by meeting time, but haven't had access to my comp, but it should be up during this coming week.
VardaValar1: Any other Web news?
VardaValar1: Eonwe's Search engine has been fun to play with. ;-)
top

VardaValar1: Gaming News:
Eonwe Valar: Glad to hear that :}
VardaValar1: Anyone played anything outside WoW that they are allowed to mention? : )
Eonwe Valar: I played BFME2
Star of Phaet: I played some Heroes of Might & Magic V
VardaValar1: Fun : )
Eonwe Valar: I also got BFME2:Rise of the Witch-King for Christmas.
Bookie032785: I played StarCraft. :-)
VardaValar1: Also fun
VardaValar1: Any reviews on those by you guys? : )
Eonwe Valar: Might have one for BMFE2 coming up.
VardaValar1: We probably need to scrounge up our SC tourney maps and be sure Meneldil has them.
VardaValar1: They are three man SC maps, made before BW
Bookie032785: Sounds good.
Eonwe Valar: You can still find the links on the Tourney page, if they still exist on the server.
VardaValar1: Bridges of Osgiliath was my favorite
VardaValar1: Battle for the Morannon I haven't seen lately
VardaValar1: We had them on our comp but I'm not sure we still do. We should probably save the maps to our valarguild.org server
VardaValar1: That would be a project, hopefully not taking too long
VardaValar1: Might be good on the Games Page, Eonwe?
Eonwe Valar: We only had 2 o r3 Tourney maps, didn't we?
VardaValar1: 2 SC maps
VardaValar1: The rest were never completed
Bookie032785: Looks like the SC maps aren't available anymore.
Eonwe Valar: Is it then just the locating that would be tough?
VardaValar1: We may be able to pull them up on some comps
Bookie032785: I do enjoy the ones that are currently played on Battlenet though.
Eonwe Valar: Let me check if I have them on my computer real quick
Eonwe Valar: If I do, I'll upload them and update the links.
VardaValar1: I know they aren't on this one
Bookie032785: Nifty.
VardaValar1: Great! Email me and I'll mention it on the News too
mecoons has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: I appear to have Bridges of Osgiliath..
VardaValar1: Aiya Amarie : )
staind32185 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: That's the one most of us really enjoyed, good one to put up.
VardaValar1: The other came in about the time people were mostly pulling out of SC into other games
VardaValar1: WoW Lothar:
FinduilasV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: We had Sauron, Fangorn, Varda, Elwing, and Gimli
VardaValar1: Aiya Finduilas
FinduilasV: Aiya there, Varda
FinduilasV: and everyone else :-)
VardaValar1: Eonwe was wiped out by threatening tornadoes
VardaValar1: Fin, just a quick report, did any Euro WoW Valar get together this week and did you get to level any?
VardaValar1: You yourself : )
Star of Phaet: Aiya Finduilas
FinduilasV: well yes actually , we did sort of efvebn though not as valar guild as such
FinduilasV: Finduilasse had the chance to get together with Calaron to Zul Farak to take care of some wee Hydra .. Gadzilla
VardaValar1: But Valar buddies. That is good enough
FinduilasV: it was a clear , fun run , i love that instance
VardaValar1: Get your carrot?
FinduilasV: indeed ;_)
VardaValar1: yay!
FinduilasV: hehe , was really good, then Findu travelled a bit yesterday with Valandile to Azhara
VardaValar1: WoW Uldaman had some gaming fun too, Elwing, Fangorn, Eowyn, and Varda there
VardaValar1: ahh good. Another Valar heard from : )
VardaValar1: Are the rest of the WoW Euro in-game? You're the only one here?
FinduilasV: indeed :-) we were looking for some runes in the ruins of Eldarath
VardaValar1: Phar and Menelvagor, Valandil and Fladrif?
FinduilasV: unfortunately he got disconnecterd and could not come back
VardaValar1: Ever see Aragorn or Galadriel?
VardaValar1: ugh!
FinduilasV: No just valandile and finduilasse
VardaValar1: That's two : )
FinduilasV: i found three of the ruhnes the fourth i have to go back for
FinduilasV: but finduy has reached 51 now :-)
VardaValar1: Good luck on that
VardaValar1: May you get your wished for 60 before BC. : )
VardaValar1: Any other Gaming news?
VardaValar1: Our beta players for BC and LotRO are going strong.
VardaValar1: All we are allowed to say on that : )
top

VardaValar1: Tolkien!
VardaValar1: Barahir-(V) sent in an article which I hope to have up this week but just begs to be a discussion topic.
mecoons has left the room.
mecoons has entered the room.
staind32185 has left the room.
VardaValar1: His article is "The Seven Structural Wonders of Middle-earth"
staind32185 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Amarie, having some connection trouble?
VardaValar1: Anyway, do you folks have any candidates for those seven structural wonders?
Bookie032785: Minas Tirith, for one.
Eonwe Valar: Orthanc.
VardaValar1: Earlier in-game, Thranduil suggested Rivendell.
VardaValar1: That's three so far. : )
Sarujil: structural as in things like buildings only, or would something like the Argonath count?
Eonwe Valar: How is it a structural wonder?
VardaValar1: The Argonath counts, it's not natural.
Eonwe Valar: Actually, I think the Argonath would be a good one too.
Eonwe Valar: How is Rivendell a structural wonder?
VardaValar1: It's a pair of enormous pillars at the entrance to Gondor.
VardaValar1: Rivendell is a wonder and it's a structure? : )
Eonwe Valar: hehe
VardaValar1: A completely safe haven
mecoons has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Would Lothlorien count then as well?
VardaValar1: Being protected and preserved by a Ring of Power helps
mecoons has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Why not? : )
staind32185 has left the room.
staind32185 has entered the room.
Sarujil: perhaps we should narrow it down to something like Caras Galadhon
VardaValar1: It doesn't have to be just LotR or good guys.
FinduilasV: hmmm , dol Guldur then as well i guess and Barad dur
Sarujil: oh, and I also vote for Khazad-dum
VardaValar1: Aye to those three
Eonwe Valar: Can it really be a "wonder" if the Valar did it?
VardaValar1: How could it not be? : )
Eonwe Valar: (Thinking Utumno as an example here)
FinduilasV: and Angband? , Utumno?
mecoons has left the room.
mecoons has entered the room.
VardaValar1: How about using Mt. Orodruin as a forge?
Eonwe Valar: It took the Valar two tries to completely dig up Morgoth's tunnels.
staind32185 has left the room.
staind32185 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: And they still missed some hiders
VardaValar1: Menegroth?
VardaValar1: Gondolin?
Eonwe Valar: Menegroth perhaps. What was striking about Gondoling was the mountain range encircling it.
Eonwe Valar: *Gondolin.
VardaValar1: Completely hidden, and the entranceway was amazing
Bookie032785: How about natural wonders as well, then?
VardaValar1: Aye, that was my next topic. : )
Bookie032785: :-)
VardaValar1: Great minds...
Eonwe Valar: Completely hidden, but not necessarily by the work of the Noldor.
VardaValar1: Ulmo suggested the spot
VardaValar1: The entranceway had all those hurdles to pass, and the images of the Trees
VardaValar1: Fountains inside and a completely self-sufficient home
VardaValar1: Apparently Turgon took some Sindar with him too?
Eonwe Valar: I recall something like that.
VardaValar1: He was willing to take in humans sometimes too, so surely Sindar as well. : )
VardaValar1: No dwarves, heh
FinduilasV: yes he did ...
FinduilasV: i gather he kept some relationships with the havens in secret
FinduilasV: no no dwarves
VardaValar1: Any other structures you'd like to mention?
Sarujil: How about Esgaroth? It might not be as awe-inspiring as some of these, but there arent many other cities built on lakes.
Xseanzee disco has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aye, Ancalagon
VardaValar1: Aiya Gil-galad
VardaValar1: We were just picking out some of the Seven Structural Wonders of Middle-earth
VardaValar1: Do you have a candidate?
VardaValar1: *pokes Gil-galad*
VardaValar1: Should we count smaller things, such as the Swanships?
VardaValar1: Would that be a separate list?
Bookie032785: Separate list, I would think.
VardaValar1: So it would be called what? Objects? hmm. Suggestion?
Bookie032785: That'd be like comparing the Pyramids to a sarcophagus..
Eonwe Valar: If we're going to count Swanships, why don't we just count everything Elven and Dwarven? :}
VardaValar1: Silmarils?
VardaValar1: Ok, shall we move on to Meneldil's Seven Wonders of Nature?
Bookie032785: River Anduin, for one. :p
VardaValar1: Aye, split the continent
VardaValar1: How about going from flat to a round world?
Eonwe Valar: Actually, under structures, why don't we also count the Great East-West Road, since that's been around forever..
VardaValar1: Aye, Eonwe. The Road continued to be used long after its buiders were gone.
FinduilasV: roads tend to be that ...
FinduilasV: look at the via appia for example
Eonwe Valar: Natural wonders, I would say Erebor. Hard to find just one mountain out all by itself.
VardaValar1: Any cleared fairly flat leftover from a road is handy. : )
VardaValar1: Shadowfax. : )
VardaValar1: Aye, Eonwe
VardaValar1: Hirilorn?
VardaValar1: The mallorn planted in place of the Party Tree? : )
Eonwe Valar: Hirilorn would be a good one, aye.
VardaValar1: The White Tree?
Eonwe Valar: The Pillars the Lamps were set on.
Eonwe Valar: Went from pillars to inland seas, and at least one of those is still around.
VardaValar1: We may have to come up the Seven Wonders made by the Valar next. : )
VardaValar1: Would Fangorn Forest count?
Eonwe Valar: I would count Fangorn. Not many other Forests can boast Ent residents at this point.
VardaValar1: Maybe near the Shire...
VardaValar1: but aye!
VardaValar1: Dead Marshes, not exactly natural. Wonder what we'd call that?
Eonwe Valar: Unnatural? :}
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Ok, for Nature, we have:
VardaValar1: Anduin, Erebor, Hirilorn, Pillars of the Lamps, Fangorn Forest
VardaValar1: Two more?
mecoons has left the room.
mecoons has entered the room.
staind32185 has left the room.
staind32185 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Want to count the White Tree? Shadowfax? other?
VardaValar1: So what other kinds of Wonders of the World do we usually count in real life?
VardaValar1: Structural, Nature...
Star of Phaet: aye, that seems to be it
VardaValar1: Would we count Literary, Artistic?
mecoons has left the room.
mecoons has entered the room.
Star of Phaet: the real-life Seven Wonders don't.... hrm.
staind32185 has left the room.
staind32185 has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: (Quick bit of Starcraft news: I've got Bridges of Osgiliath up on the Starcraft Links page. Just go there on the Games Page to download it.)
Eonwe Valar: Literary and Artistic wonders might have their own category, but they're not typically the ones everyone's made to learn.
Eonwe Valar: Or at least not the ones everyone will remember at least a couple of. Almost anyone can name one of the Seven structural or natural wonders of the world.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Eonwe!
VardaValar1: On structural, all the elf cities had a question mark raised, so I guess they don't count?
VardaValar1: So we have on our list:
Eonwe Valar: It's a bit harder to pinpoint artistic and literary wonders, because it's harder to get a consensus.
VardaValar1: Minas Tirith, Orthanc, Argonath, Dol Guldur, Barad-dur, Khazad-dum, Utumno, Angband, Esgaroth.
VardaValar1: So if a human, dwarf, or man made it, it's ok. ;-)
Eonwe Valar: Everyone would agree the Argonath is impressive, or Niagara Falls. How many would think of Vair's tapestries, which tell the stories of Arda?
VardaValar1: We would, Eonwe. : )
VardaValar1: Or Telperion, if I spelled it right
Eonwe Valar: As far as Elven Cities, I would say Caras Galadon could be a wonder. Rivendell, I'm not so sure of.
VardaValar1: I'd rather go to Rivendell if that counts. : )
Eonwe Valar: There's nothing in the structure of Rivendell that makes it special. It's in those who protect it.
VardaValar1: Just to go to the library
Eonwe Valar: Well, yeah, so would I :}
Eonwe Valar: Caras Galadon, on the other hand, is built in a tree. That's impressive :}
VardaValar1: Being homey and remaining so, being a haven.
VardaValar1: Aye, it's the Structural Wonder, so that means Caras Galadhon should win there. : )
VardaValar1: Menegroth was constructed by both dwarves and elves and was possibly the greatest elven city.
Eonwe Valar: Still, all that is not really innate in the physical structure of Rivendell, more than it would be in any other house that felt "homey."
VardaValar1: Hall of Fire, not too shabby. But I see your point. : )
Star of Phaet: (I need to restart, back soon)
Star of Phaet has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Menegroth and Nargothrond would be candidates for wonders.
VardaValar1: I wonder if Elrond's or Galadriel's libraries would be greater.
VardaValar1: Nargothrond, aye, that's a candidate.
Bookie032785: Elrond's, I would think..
Eonwe Valar: Depends on if Galadriel can keep the rain out of her library :}
VardaValar1: Surely she can if she wants to. : )
VardaValar1: I'd think so too, Meneldil
VardaValar1: The Library of Alexandria was a wonder. Suppose Elrond's would be like that, gathered from Ages and all over Arda?
Eonwe Valar: Aye
VardaValar1: Wish JRRT had gone into more detail about that. : )
Eonwe Valar: As much of Arda as his people could travel.
VardaValar1: But as he and fans have said, LotR is too short.
VardaValar1: People also could bring books in from all over
VardaValar1: Visitors came from everywhere
Eonwe Valar: Maybe Saruman brought back some lore from the East he was more willing to share in earlier days.
Sarujil: Bilbo's library was pretty impressive too :-)
Eonwe Valar: Gandalf would've shared what he learned from the South.
VardaValar1: Copies of them could have een made
VardaValar1: *been
VardaValar1: Gondor had an impressive library too
VardaValar1: With an adopted son of Elrond ruling Gondor, I'll bet he made sure that library had even more. : ) Maybe even funding!
VardaValar1: more than it already had, which was impressive
Sarujil: it got a copy of the red book, so it had all it really needed
FinduilasV: imladris had a big library then too , i would think
VardaValar1: lol - right
VardaValar1: Right Finduilas, Imladris/Rivendell
FinduilasV: Caras Galadhon? I know it was more of a fortress .. but
VardaValar1: Ok, so we don't consider silmarilli or Rings of Power as Wonders of some sort?
VardaValar1: Too small?
Sarujil: artifacts?
Star of Phaet has entered the room.
FinduilasV: /me agrees
Bookie032785 has left the room.
VardaValar1: That could be the heading we need. Artifacts! : )
VardaValar1: Welcome back, Gilraen : )
Star of Phaet: Thanks :-)
VardaValar1: So they would need to be one of a kind types?
VardaValar1: One Ring
Sarujil: or three or nine ...
VardaValar1: Three Silmarils still count?
VardaValar1: Seven Palantiri?
Eonwe Valar: I would say of a limited umber.
Eonwe Valar: *number
VardaValar1: Ring of Barahir was more important for its history
VardaValar1: It had enough power to split an elven kingdom and kill its king, but no power of its own.
VardaValar1: Power to show that Men and Elves could be close friends.
Eonwe Valar: Well, the Ring of Barahir itself didn't do that. It was the oath tied to the ring.
Sarujil: fame (or infamy) is probably enough to qualify, i would say
VardaValar1: Prophecies, always fun. : ) Just off topic
VardaValar1: Aye, Eonwe
VardaValar1: The Ring was meant to show real friendship.
VardaValar1: The Oath was in the way of friendship.
Sarujil: so, are we suggesting things to go under this heading now, or still hammering out what types of things would belong?
VardaValar1: Oaths are very hard on freedom of choice. Not to be recommended.
VardaValar1: We never really got 7 Nature items.
Sarujil: oh. well how many do we have?
VardaValar1: We seem to have enough Structural even leaving out Elven
VardaValar1: Minas Tirith, Orthanc, Argonath, Dol Guldur, Barad-dur, Khazad-dum, Utumno, Angband, Esgaroth.
Eonwe Valar: Mount Gundabad perhaps? A mountain revered by Dwarves as the awakening place of Durin I, Father of Dwarves.
VardaValar1: Anduin, Erebor, Hirilorn, Pillars of the Lamps, Fangorn Forest
Sarujil: I was thinking maybe Kheled-zaram
VardaValar1: That would be historical again
VardaValar1: the Mirror, interesting. Supernatural? Too small? ok?
VardaValar1: Mirror-mere of Kheled-zaram
Eonwe Valar: To small.
Eonwe Valar: *too
Eonwe Valar: The mirror of Galadriel.
VardaValar1: Consider it part of Khazad-dum?
Sarujil: size matters not. judge me by my size do you?
Eonwe Valar: I'm not sure Kheled-zaram would count as a natural wonder.
VardaValar1: Aye, the mirror is an Artifact : )
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Yoda is more like the 700 pound gorilla
Eonwe Valar: Durin looked in and saw the Valacrica as a crown above his head. Sounds of more historical importance than natural wonder.
VardaValar1: But it might be considered part of what makes Khazad-dum amazing/
VardaValar1: ?
Eonwe Valar: *Valacirca, can't believe I typo'd on that name.
Sarujil: ok, ill buy that (grudgingly)
VardaValar1: So we need a Historical Wonders section? : )
VardaValar1: We can typo anything, another wonder. ;-)
Sarujil: Glittering Caves of Aglarond
VardaValar1: Arda was so full of natural wonders that picking out things is hard
VardaValar1: Aye!
Eonwe Valar: Every place in Middle-Earth (practically) would be a historical wonder :} We'd have a hard time pulling only 7 out of them all :]
VardaValar1: Glittering Caves for Nature!
VardaValar1: The White Tree still questionable?
Eonwe Valar: Good point on Glittering Caves. Surprised no one mentioned it earlier :}
VardaValar1: The best stuff is like that. "Why didn't we see it earlier?"
Sarujil: it takes a dragon's mind to remember these things :-)
VardaValar1: Go dragon!
VardaValar1: No comment on the White Tree?
Eonwe Valar: The White Tree was rare, seemed linked to the line of kings. I suppose I would let that slide as a wonder.
VardaValar1: How about the only Mallorn in the west, taking the place of the Party Tree?
Sarujil: i wonder where henneth annun would fit
VardaValar1: heh, had to slide in, not too Wonderful then.
VardaValar1: Ohh, I like that one, Anc!
FinduilasV: nice one :-)
Eonwe Valar: Lothlorien was full of mallorn trees, wasn't it?
VardaValar1: Beautiful, amazing setting
Eonwe Valar: Aye, Henneth Annun is a good choice.
VardaValar1: Yes, Eonwe. But only one was in the west, in the Shire lands
VardaValar1: Only at a certain time of day
VardaValar1: That also makes 7!
VardaValar1: We're done on Nature. : )
Eonwe Valar: Yay us :}
mecoons has left the room.
VardaValar1: Go Anc! : )
Sarujil: on to the seven dragon wonders of the world! first three are the same and all start with A!
mecoons has entered the room.
VardaValar1: hehe
staind32185 has left the room.
staind32185 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Shall we pass out the laurel crowns to all in the room, and call it a night?
Sarujil: we can save the artifacts for next time
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, dragon wonders that start with an A... Agburanar? :}
VardaValar1: Tease. : )
VardaValar1: Artifacts...
VardaValar1: so far, Silmarils, One Ring, Palantiri
Eonwe Valar: (That is an actual dragon name from the ICE card game, btw :}
Sarujil: we mentioned Galadriel's mirror...
VardaValar1: Crazy Iron Crowners. : )
Sarujil: yeah i looked it up - does he exist in Tolkien or only unofficially?
VardaValar1: Aye, Anc
VardaValar1: Good one
Sarujil: how about her Phial also?
Eonwe Valar: He does not exist in Tolkien.
VardaValar1: Unofficial
VardaValar1: Fangorn reports that all the Goblin Bruisers in Booty Bay are passed out drunk.
VardaValar1: Appears they got into the New Year's Dorwinion a bit early.
VardaValar1: The Phial, hmm
VardaValar1: I like it : )
Sarujil: I could name lots of artifacts, but i want to give others a chance :-)
VardaValar1: Any of the heirlooms of Aragorn's count?
VardaValar1: crowns, Scepter of Annuminas, Ring of Barahir, the like?
Sarujil: Narsil/Anduril...
VardaValar1: another heirloom, aye. : )
Sarujil: do you want me to keep naming? no one else seems to be :-)
VardaValar1: Sorry, side windows

VardaValar1: Too many chips while watching?
VardaValar1: Thanks Eonwe!
mordacil: couldnt eat anything for fear of seeing it again
VardaValar1: eww
VardaValar1: Better now?
mordacil: but I gathered some folks and we got through all extended editions
mordacil: yeah
VardaValar1: I have to leave in about ten minutes
VardaValar1: Aerandir, we were just trying to name the Wonders of Middle-earth : )
VardaValar1: Seven Structural, Seven Natural
mordacil: waht age?
VardaValar1: We were considering a list for artifacts
Eonwe Valar: All ages
VardaValar1: Getting 7 natural was the hardest so far
mordacil: and we cant have things like the sun and stars?
mordacil: what is there so far?
Eonwe Valar: Only if we're counting the moon, the ocean, the land, the flowers, snow, rain, clouds... :}
mecoons has left the room.
VardaValar1: Anduin, Erebor, Hirilorn, Pillars of the Lamps, Fangorn Forest, Glittering Caves, Henneth Annun
mecoons has entered the room.
mordacil: difficult to describe structural when in a mythology everything is hand made by some being or another
VardaValar1: Aye, so we went with Men and Dwarves mainly
staind32185 has left the room.
staind32185 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: or evil beings
VardaValar1: We could try things made by Ainur only : )
VardaValar1: Arda
Eonwe Valar: Ea :}
VardaValar1: short list that way
VardaValar1: Aye, Eonwe : )
VardaValar1: Cut it by two letters!
VardaValar1: For Structural, we have so far:
Eonwe Valar: Or we could sort all creations by their ultimate creators.
Eonwe Valar: Eru. done :}
mordacil: henneth annun was made by men
VardaValar1: Minas Tirith, Orthanc, Argonath, Caras Galadhon, Dol Guldur,
VardaValar1: Barad-dur, Khazad-dum, Utumno, Angband, Esgaroth, Great East Road
VardaValar1: Henneth Annun was a pre-existing waterfall.
VardaValar1: Men used the caverns that they found that had been carved by water.
mordacil: but to make the sparkly curtain they rerouted it
VardaValar1: Sounds like Ulmo and Aule work together too. : )
VardaValar1: Where do you get that?
mordacil: I remember reading it, Ill see if I can find it
VardaValar1: Just because I don't remember it doesn't make it so. : ) But I really don't remember it.
VardaValar1: If you can find it, I would be interested.
VardaValar1: Before forgetting again, must mention that we are running Tolkien trivia on the Forum again
VardaValar1: LotR is memory, Sil you can use the book.
Eonwe Valar: My Silmarillion question is up :}
VardaValar1: ahhh!
VardaValar1: Those are major fonts for the Happy New Year, Eonwe. : )
VardaValar1: ohh, I know that one! Good one!
VardaValar1: Love that cross-over stuff
Eonwe Valar: So, the book is ok to use, but not the Encyclopedia right? Because I'd just hate to think someone might try to use the Search engine to make the task easier *cough* :}
VardaValar1: I'll give someone else a chance to answer as I'll be away, leaving in a few minutes
VardaValar1: um, hmm.
VardaValar1: How would I know if they did?
Eonwe Valar: Trust that they follow the rules? :}
VardaValar1: Main thing is to give a right answer to help us all be educated, and it's best to use the books so ast to spot new stuff.
VardaValar1: *as
Eonwe Valar: Aye, good point.
Sarujil: "At one time the water flowed down through this cave and out of this arch, but its course was changed further up the gorge, by workmen of old, and the stream sent down in a fall of doubled height over the rocks far above."
VardaValar1: The books are more likely to be completely right and you can give a reference to back yourself up.
Eonwe Valar: Ok, use the books everyone :}
VardaValar1: Anc, Thank you!
Sarujil: thats book iv, ch. 5
Eonwe Valar: Well, the book :} The Silmarillion :} Do not use LotR :}
VardaValar1: I'm hoping that looking up trivia will help us spot more interesting goodies to think about.
VardaValar1: Ok, have to hop in the four-wheeler. : )
Eonwe Valar: Good reason for looking it up then.
