VardaValar1: yes
VardaValar1: People are still coming on, trying to catch them
VardaValar1: What are you folks in the middle of? Hope it's not
homework!
VardaValar1: I'm cooking and setting up for family coming in for
Christmas
ArPharazonV: trying to find the world of warcraft soundtrack cd, either
by a p2p program or by purchase, but the Blizz shop is closed...
FinduilasV: Nothing really, just been reading Master Genera; Calaron's
answering letter
FinduilasV: Master Seargent, forgive
ArPharazonV: oh, and continuing reading the archive of a webcomic
Star of Phaet: I'm just trying to keep awake here ;-)
ArPharazonV: other than that, I'm ready for meeting stuffses!
Gamatzgamatz has entered the room.
VardaValar1: We have something cool for you, but Eonwe needs to be here
for it : )
VardaValar1: Aiya Thranduil!
Gamatzgamatz: aiya! brb :-D
VardaValar1: And of course anyone
showing up today is automatically signed up for 2007 membership unless
they say not. : )
Star of Phaet: woo
FinduilasV: you won't get rid of me anyway ;-) I owe you an article ,
hehe
VardaValar1: Yay!
Gamatzgamatz: back

Middle-Earth 2: Rise of the Witchking this week
top
VardaValar1: Elen
sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Membership News:
ArPharazonV: I'll say more about it in the gaming section
VardaValar1: We need to remind some folks in the betas to get back with
us after character wipes either by telling their new names in the beta
forum or contacting the guild master for that branch. : )
VardaValar1: The biggest thing is we wish you all a Merry Christmas or
whatever your holiday is for this break. : ) Have fun!
top
VardaValar1: Web
News:
VardaValar1: Here is where all of us in this Tolkien fan club get a
Christmas present : )
VardaValar1: Eonwe, your floor. : )
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Eonwe Valar: I don't think I can offer any better buildup than that, so
without any ado on my part,... :}
Eonwe Valar: The Valar Guild Tolkien
Encyclopedia now has a search program :}
Eonwe Valar: Varda has already linked it to the Encyclopedia.
VardaValar1: Go to http://valarguild.org/
and click Tolkien then Search
Eonwe Valar: It searches the Encyclopedia proper strictly right now,
not stories or poetry.
Star of Phaet: ooh, cool
VardaValar1: Even on this old, slow computer it is fast!
Eonwe Valar: It searches by a word or phrase, so you should know what
you're looking for in the first place, though :}
FinduilasV: Nice one , heeh
FinduilasV: well done ")
VardaValar1: I like how it breaks it between finding it in the subject
and inside an article.
Eonwe Valar: There are some tweaks I intend to make later, but I think
it works well enough for now :}
VardaValar1: We have the Subject section for those who don't know
exactly what they are looking for. : )
VardaValar1: Eonwe has been studying programming and built this from
scratch.
Star of Phaet: nice
Star of Phaet: go Eonwe
Eonwe Valar: *bow*
Star of Phaet: *applauds*
VardaValar1: This is a really wonderful and needed addition. I just had
to play with it a bunch before the meeting. : )
VardaValar1: Try hunting for your own character in it. : )
Eonwe Valar: That is it for me I think, unless there are questions :}
Feel free to dig for bugs :} And Merry Christmas :}
VardaValar1: This is strictly an online search still, but it answers my
needs at least. : )
VardaValar1: Right now it shows the author's name as a character too,
so we're trying to come up with something to separate that out.
Srekal86 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: I'll be back in a few minutes, christmas presents!
Eonwe Valar: Oh, one more thing..
VardaValar1: Phun, Phar!
Eonwe Valar: Right now the Search program only acknowledges the special
character ë,...
VardaValar1: My own program doesn't like any of those special characters
Eonwe Valar: as that is the only special character I recall being used
frequently in Tolkien's work. If there are any others I should set the
Search to recognize, feel free to remind me.
VardaValar1: There are a lot of special characters in Tolkien. I'll
have to collect a list for you.
VardaValar1: Any of those present have one in his or her name?
Star of Phaet: nope
Eonwe Valar: Let's say for example you want to find Eonwë. You can
type Eonwë or Eonwe and it will match all articles with either
spelling for you.
VardaValar1: Quick glance says no
VardaValar1: Oh good : )
VardaValar1: Some of our articles use the special characters and some
don't
Star of Phaet: that's useful
Eonwe Valar: It'll also match eONWe for you if you really want, but
thus is less practical and more an oops guard :}
Star of Phaet: only character I can ever remember how to make is
é
Eonwe Valar: *thus = this
Star of Phaet: the search is very fast. It lists file names as the
results?
Eonwe Valar: Aye, for now.
Bookie032785 has entered the room.
Star of Phaet: just checking it wasn't just me it was doing that for ;-)
Eonwe Valar: One of the tweaks I'll make later is to list the title of
the article instead of the file name.
Star of Phaet: was just abotu to ask if you were planning that :-)
Star of Phaet: *about, pardon
VardaValar1: I tried entering Sword That Was Broken and it took it as
Sword, then "Sword That Was Broken" and it took it as a phrase.
Bookie032785 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Hmm
Eonwe Valar: It should take the entire phrase.
VardaValar1: It took the phrase with the ""
VardaValar1: That is not unusual for searches
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, actually, I think it does work fine, it just doesn't
display in the Query field correctly.
Eonwe Valar: I do a search on Tale of Qorinomi...
VardaValar1: ah ok. I need a different phrase. : )
Eonwe Valar: Only Tale shows in the query field,..
Eonwe Valar: but Tale of Qorinomi shows to be getting matched.
Eonwe Valar: That shouldn't be a difficult fix.
ArPharazonV: ô!
ArPharazonV: in my name
ArPharazonV: ok, brb :-)
VardaValar1: ahh, right! Tale of Qorinomi worked
Bookie032785 has entered the room.
Bookie032785 has left the room.
FinduilasV: nice jumper in out that ;-)
VardaValar1: He doesn't answer. I think he could be a bot.
Eonwe Valar: You'll need to give me the keyboard way to make it, and in
some cases the standard translation to normal characters..
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar
Eonwe Valar: For example, should ælfwine be Alfwine or Elwine? (I
believe it's typically the later if memory serves.)
Xseanzee disco has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: *Elfwine
Xseanzee disco: eyyy
VardaValar1: Aiya Gil-galad!
Eonwe Valar: afk for a sec
ArPharazonV: Aelfwine?
VardaValar1: Word, under Insert on the menu, has a list of symbols
which include their keyboard shortcuts.
VardaValar1: In the Encyc, I usually type Aelfwine
VardaValar1: in such a case.
Star of Phaet: I think I've come across an Elfwine or two in the Encyc
VardaValar1: Elfwine is how it's been used as far as I've seen.
Eonwe Valar: back
Bookie032785 has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Hmm, if I have to convert one char to two, that'll take a
different few lines of code.
VardaValar1: I mean as an example, if the ae is squished together for
an article, it generally gets translated to ae
Eonwe Valar: Not a big problem, but won't be as quick a fix.
VardaValar1: Try Word under Insert for keyboard shortcuts
Eonwe Valar: Will do.
VardaValar1: then under Symbol
VardaValar1: Nice way to check on a lot of symbol shortcuts.
VardaValar1: Bookie says he's an old member of the Valar Guild : )
VardaValar1: Welcome back even if you can't remember your old name : )
Bookie032785: Thank you.
VardaValar1: He plays Well of Souls
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, was about to ask that :}
Bookie032785: It's been a long long while.
VardaValar1: Maybe we can help jog your memory : )
Eonwe Valar: Recognize anyone besides Varda? :}
VardaValar1: Remember your race? Elf, Man, Dwarf, Dragon, Balrog, etc?
: )
VardaValar1: Gamatz there is really Thranduil : )
Bookie032785: Course not, Varda. That'd be too easy. XD
VardaValar1: awww was hoping : )
Bookie032785: I remember you, Eonwe.
Bookie032785: Don't mean to interrupt your meeting.. I'm sorry.
VardaValar1: You might be remembering an earlier Eonwe
VardaValar1: Side windows too, pardon : )
VardaValar1: We were just discussing a Christmas present Eonwe gave the
guild just now
VardaValar1: He made a Search engine from scratch for the Tolkien
Encyclopedia, and we're refining it by playing with it now. : )
Bookie032785: Very nifty.
Xseanzee disco: i apologize for staying for such a short time but i've
got to go.
Eonwe Valar: Take care GIl-Galad :}
VardaValar1: You got to hear the big news : )
Eonwe Valar: Check out the Search when you get a chance :}
VardaValar1: Merry Christmas, Gil-galad!
Xseanzee disco: : ) indeed.
Eonwe Valar: Merry Christmas :}
Xseanzee disco: Merry Christmas to you all!
Xseanzee disco: i will leave the window up so i can catch up later. : )
VardaValar1: cool : )
mordacil has left the room.
oladys 123 has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Ok, try using a phrase now.
VardaValar1: Aiya Lady : )
oladys 123: hey, Good evening yáll
FinduilasV: Aiya Lady ! :-)
VardaValar1: Merry Christmas : )
Eonwe Valar: Ah, while I'm at it (Looked at my e-mail) Ex-Gwindor
wishes me to extend to the Valar Guild a Happy Holidays from him.
VardaValar1: aww : )
oladys 123: merry christmas to all of you too... music is on here and
we are preparing our traditional dish
Eonwe Valar: I say Merry Christmas back to him :}
Eonwe Valar: Cool oladys :} What dish is that?
Eonwe Valar: Or is it top-secret? :}
ArPharazonV: probably a secret ingredient or 2!
VardaValar1: Merry Christmas back to Gwindor : )
oladys 123: potato salad
VardaValar1: The hot type?
oladys 123: my husband's family would have that Christmas eve
oladys 123: yes
Eonwe Valar: homemade I hope :}
oladys 123: of course
Eonwe Valar: excellent :} homemade poteato salad is the best :}
oladys 123: and even better HE is doing it
oladys 123: hehe
VardaValar1: I love the hot type. Think it's German style?
Eonwe Valar: hehe
VardaValar1: Now that is good!
oladys 123: yeah German style
Eonwe Valar: *potato
VardaValar1: Good idea. I may toss that to the mob too. : )
oladys 123: see, this time it works... no idea what the issue was last
time grrr
Bookie032785: Where is this search engine, so I can give it the ol'
heave-ho, if you don't mind me asking?
ArPharazonV: we had gourmet yesterday
Eonwe Valar: Go to the Encyclopedia
Bookie032785 has left the room.
oladys 123: is it snowing in Alba, Find?
Eonwe Valar: It's linked on the frames and no frames versions.
ArPharazonV: apparently that's the Dutch tradition these days :-)
VardaValar1: he crashed
Bookie032785 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Welcome back : )
Bookie032785: Thank you.
VardaValar1: Book, it's at http://valarguild.org
Click Tolkien and then Search
Star of Phaet: It's not snowing in this part. Maybe Finduilas is having
better luck with the white Christmas...
VardaValar1: It's been snowing heavily on Melkor in Colorado
FinduilasV: no , not really , it has been relatively warm
VardaValar1: 30" where he is, last I heard
FinduilasV: tis been starting to freeze when i left work
Bookie032785: It actually snowed here last Tuesday for the first time
in about ten years.
Eonwe Valar: I've got rain. Just need to get the temp down more.
Bookie032785: 'twas very nice.
ArPharazonV: not snowing here either, and I doubt we'll see any this
year
VardaValar1: We have a lot of rain!
ArPharazonV: greenhouse-effect is not good for our little country!
oladys 123: we have it a tad colder, only 15
oladys 123: 15 C :P
oladys 123: :-P
oladys 123: two days ago we had 22C
oladys 123: very christmassy.
ArPharazonV: very :-)
Star of Phaet: indeed
Star of Phaet: of course, next year I shall be complaining about the
snow, and godsforsaken frozen countries ;-)
ArPharazonV: I'll be spending my new year's with the WoW guild I'm in
in Belgium, doubt they'll have snow there either ;-)
ArPharazonV: hehe... on your way to Canada then?
Star of Phaet: in March!
FinduilasV: nice one :-) , one country i would like to go to
Bookie032785 has left the room.
Bookie032785 has entered the room.
oladys 123: which part? Canada is a biiiiiig country. PS: excuse my
being on and off... I have to help my better half a little. Jist a
little.
Bookie032785 has left the room.
Star of Phaet: Winnipeg in Manitoba, Lady
Star of Phaet: I'm married to Gwaihir over there, and we hail from
different sides of the Atlantic
FinduilasV: there is a town in manitoba .. they say the winodws touch
the skies ...
FinduilasV: Tribute to Winnipeg, by Runrig ;-)
VardaValar1: Bookie is a librarian. He has trouble with AIM. Would
Firefox be part of it?
Star of Phaet: I shouldn't imagine so. is it AIM Express he's using?
Star of Phaet: or whatever it is AOL calls their web version
Eonwe Valar: His web browser "shouldn't" be affecting AIM normally.
Star of Phaet: windows touch the skies, eh, Finduilas? That's a new one
;-)
VardaValar1: Found him. He used to be Meneldil-V, joined March 7, 2004
oladys 123: beautiful country that is, but then I found there are a lot
of beautiful countries.... *sighs* so much to see and to do and so
little money
ArPharazonV: 2004? that's not too old
ArPharazonV: heck, I was already here when he joined
Eonwe Valar: So it was me he remembered after all :}
VardaValar1: yay! : )
VardaValar1: That is our major web news
Bookie032785 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Like to go on to gaming news now?
FinduilasV: aye ;-)
top
VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Who played anything besides WoW this last week? : )
ArPharazonV: me
ArPharazonV: Battle
for Middle Earth 2: Rise of the Witchking
ArPharazonV: bought it on monday, and finished it 2 or 3 days ago
VardaValar1: How was it?
VardaValar1: I was eyeing it :-)
ArPharazonV: good fun, if you like the way BfME and BfME 2 play
VardaValar1: That fast?
ArPharazonV: yeah, well, only 9 levels in the campaign
VardaValar1: I've never tried it before.
ArPharazonV: they're harder than the missions in BfME 2, but still not
that hard... but of course, I played them on easy difficulty, so...
ArPharazonV: time period: the Witchking's war against Arnor
Bookie032785: That's cool.
Bookie032785: I have BfME (the first one) and it wasn't too bad.
Bookie032785: Didn't like the gameplay of it, personally.
oladys 123: oh... so many games to play and so little time... *goes to
lurking mode*
ArPharazonV: first 8 levels are about how he rose to power and waged
war against Arnor, the 9th level you play the opposition, the
reinforcements from Gondor, as you defeat Angmar once and for all
ArPharazonV: and then Glorfindel comes with his famous prophecy :-)
VardaValar1: Poor Lady : )
Bookie032785: I prefer books over games, but I feel your pain, oladys.
ArPharazonV: all in all, I enjoyed it
ArPharazonV: EA made up a few characters and heroes, of course, like a
troll chieftain and a captain of Arnor turned into a wraith
ArPharazonV: but there's also some more famous characters in play, like
several kings of Arnor, and a few famous elves as Elrond and Glorfindel
Eonwe Valar: Who's Elrond again? :}
VardaValar1: heh
ArPharazonV: ehrr... a brother to an ancestor of mine, I think!
VardaValar1: I wonder if Elros still had pointed ears. : )
ArPharazonV: hehe
Eonwe Valar: But seriously, 9 levels total, no separate good and evil
campaigns?
ArPharazonV: no, just 1 campaign for this expansion
ArPharazonV: well, technically 2, one consisting of 8 levels and the
other of 1
ArPharazonV: and they can only be played in order
Eonwe Valar: Well, that'll be a point or two off in my review. $30 for
9 missions..
ArPharazonV: it's not just 9 missions that's new
Bookie032785: Another thing I didn't like about BfME: the multiplayer
interface sucked... now I remember.
ArPharazonV: the whole Angmar-faction is added to that little War of
the Ring game involved there
FladrifV has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: I know, but that's one of the most important parts: the
playtime.
FladrifV: Aiya
ArPharazonV: the risk-like game
VardaValar1: Fladrif! Merry Christmas!
ArPharazonV: aiya Fladrif!
Eonwe Valar: Hey Fladrif :} Merry Christmas :}
VardaValar1: Fladrif, you have to check out your Christmas present now.
: )
FladrifV: Merry Christmas all!
ArPharazonV: and you can create custom heroes now for use in War of the
Ring, though I'm not sure BfME 2 originally had that
ArPharazonV: if they did, at least Rise of the Witchking added a few
new features to that
Eonwe Valar: It did.
FladrifV: a pressent?
ArPharazonV: like a troll-class
Eonwe Valar: You can create custom heroes to be used anywhere in BFME2.
VardaValar1: I'll side-window with you, Ent-buddy : )
ArPharazonV: oh, could be, Eonwe
ArPharazonV: but I'd only noticed in in the War of the Ring, never went
to multiplayer
Eonwe Valar: I believe BFME2 already had trolls, but there's supposed
to be some new hero type.
ArPharazonV: troll-heroes too?
ArPharazonV: hang on, I have the manual right here
Bookie032785: I think I'd be insulted to be called a troll-hero,
personally. :P
Eonwe Valar: I remember a big guy on my custom hero screen, aye.
ArPharazonV: strange
ArPharazonV: perhaps it means they added a new type of troll or
something
Eonwe Valar: Hopefully, but I have little faith in EA.
ArPharazonV: but yeah, the whole point of the expansion is that it
expands on the original, it's not supposed to be a whole new game
VardaValar1: Other trolls could look up to you. : )
Bookie032785: Ooga booga, you there.
Eonwe Valar: Blizzard's expansions do a better job of "expanding" on
the original imo.
ArPharazonV: the 5 new features mentioned are: new campaign, new
faction, new units for all the factions, an improved hero-builder and
an expanded War of the Ring
ArPharazonV: which was good enough for me :-)
Bookie032785: And the multiplayer part is 120% better, Eonwe.
ArPharazonV: it's still EA, Eonwe
Bookie032785: Battlenet may have its, ironically enough, trolls.. but
still.
ArPharazonV: and if this is not enough for you to buy it, then don't
ArPharazonV: but it was for me, as I said, and I enjoyed playing it,
and I still do, of course
Eonwe Valar: I haven't tried Multiplayer with BFME2, so I don't have a
proper point of reference to compare.
ArPharazonV: since I'm still busy with this War of the Ring thing, me
against a team of 5 AIs
ArPharazonV: if I "auto-resolved" the fights they'd crush me in
seconds, but using the real-time battles I still have a chance :-)
ArPharazonV: though it takes weeks to complete one campaign that way ;-)
ArPharazonV: it will keep me busy until the Burning Crusade, and that's
what matters at the moment :-)
Eonwe Valar: hehe
FinduilasV: i could help you out there, Phara, to give you something to
do :P
FinduilasV: got some Elites and dungeons to get rid off :-)
ArPharazonV: hehe
ArPharazonV: when I am in WoW, I usually play some more battlegrounds
ArPharazonV: trying to get exalted with Stormpike, which would be my
8th exalted faction
VardaValar1: Ok, you are moving out of non-WoW
FinduilasV: why not helping a poor Pala who is battling against time?
VardaValar1: Any other non-WoW games?
VardaValar1: Book here plays WoS
ArPharazonV: well of souls?
FinduilasV: Under which name bookie and what sever?
Bookie032785: Clicking fun to entertain for hours.
Bookie032785: I've played most of them... haven't followed through with
one character, however.
FinduilasV: when i am there, which is rare enough, i am on Aerianell
under the name Finduilas who is a 23, 4 gallant
Bookie032785: Will watch out for ya. ;-)
VardaValar1: Guild usually runs on Aerianell
Bookie032785: Heard Aerianell is coming out with a new beta soon.
Bookie032785: It's much better than Evergreen.
FinduilasV: agreed , had a short pop in on that
Bookie032785: If we're talking about games, if anyone's interested,
there's a Middle-earth room in ISketch, which is basically online
pictionary.
FinduilasV: i find it very confusing
Bookie032785: People rarely go there, but I've played it a few times
and it's pretty nifty.
VardaValar1: Passing gavel to Eonwe
oladys 123: I have to leave now... Christmas is on... :-)
VardaValar1: Enjoy!
Bookie032785: Merry Christmas, oladys.
oladys 123: Have a wonderful Christmas, and see y' all next week I hope!
VardaValar1: We'll probably be hanging around later too : )
VardaValar1: Unofficially
Eonwe Valar: Take care Oladys :}
oladys 123: ok I'll see
FinduilasV: see ye
oladys 123: byesies
oladys 123 has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Ok, WoW:
Eonwe Valar: Lothar:
Eonwe Valar: Christmas shopping and traffic kept many of us out longer
than we'd hoped to be out, but many of us did at least get to drop in
and say hi.
Eonwe Valar: Well, some instead of that second many.
VardaValar1: Sauron, Varda, Bilbo, Eowyn I think dropped by
VardaValar1: and Elwing
Eonwe Valar: Elwing and Varda got some enchants on their low level
chars from Kalmo, my Druid Enchanter.
VardaValar1: Some Eonwe guy
Eonwe Valar: Kalmo is now forced to level 2 more levels in order to
proceed with Enchanting.
Star of Phaet: well, folks, I'm off
Star of Phaet: Season's greetings :-)
Eonwe Valar: Finduilas, any of our guys and gals in the guild branch
over on Argent Dawn get
together?
Eonwe Valar: Merry Christmas Gilraen :}
Star of Phaet: Merry Christmas
Star of Phaet: Namarie
Bookie032785: Merry Christmas!
Eonwe Valar: Take care :}
Star of Phaet has left the room.
FinduilasV: not at the moment apart from me :P
Eonwe Valar: ok :}
Eonwe Valar: LotRO:
New stuff on page. Check it out :}
ArPharazonV: I think he means this past week :-)
FinduilasV: am, excuse , me lol hehe, to report there is but one
rathere embarrassing incident which happened to him on Wednesda
FinduilasV: i guess that is worth mentioning -)
ArPharazonV: Finduilasse and Calaron had a little adventure!
Eonwe Valar: Cntinue if you dare :}
Eonwe Valar: *Continue
FinduilasV: Indeed ... , finduilasse was hunting Centipaars in the
Noxious Lair when he got attacked by three of them nice creepies
Eonwe Valar: Noxious Lair is in Tanaris?
ArPharazonV: yes
ArPharazonV: western edge
Eonwe Valar: Thanks.
FinduilasV: being not quite the right age to take on all of them he
decided to run away ... , very edgy
Eonwe Valar: They do say discretion is the better part of valour :}
FinduilasV: he came a little too close to the edge and lost balance to
land on a rock shelf in the Marshlands ...
FinduilasV: which is part of the Ungoro Crater, when i am not mistaken
ArPharazonV: yes
FinduilasV: Hoping to recocver his body, the lad ran away from the
spirit healer
FinduilasV: but found out he could not reach it
FinduilasV: and .. being himself, could not find the way back to the
spirit healer either
ArPharazonV: and so I heard the story about a paladin in Un'goro who'd
died and couldn't reach his corpse ;-)
ArPharazonV: so I decided to give him a hand
Eonwe Valar: hehe
ArPharazonV: inviting the poor soul (literally) to a group, I checked
the map
ArPharazonV: only to see he was already near the Silithus-entrance :-)
ArPharazonV: so I flew from Stormwind to Menethil Harbor, took the boat
to Theramore, and flew to Gadgetzan
ArPharazonV: being a graceful cat I knew there were falls I could
survive that a paladin could not, and so I decided to track his steps
ArPharazonV: riding to the Noxious Lair, I travelled along the edge,
and searched for a nearby ridge below on which to fall
ArPharazonV: upon dropping and jumping to lower ridges for a bit, and
healing myself while doing it, Finduilasse pointed me North-East: the
location where her corpse should lie
ArPharazonV: and yes, lo! There it was... the broken body of a lifeless
paladin lying there all alone, hidden behind a rock
FinduilasV: with the power we both share
ArPharazonV: using a magical Ironwood Seed I brought her back from
beyond the grave
ArPharazonV: and then guided her down to the bottom of the dangerous
Un'goro Crater
FinduilasV: Nahar enjoyed the ride :-)
FinduilasV: He has a fiery temper but loves , jumping about
ArPharazonV: yes, my Ram has a natural talent for jumping about as well
ArPharazonV: but don't do all rams have that talent? ;-)
Eonwe Valar: :}
FinduilasV: so eventually we reached Thistleshrub Vallaey back in
Tanaris, where Finduilasse had business as well, which he completed
successfully to return eventually o the noxious lair
ArPharazonV: oh, replace all the "her" up by "his", this is confusing
to me :-)
FinduilasV: and doing that, he reached one season more :-)
Eonwe Valar: Quite a tale you have woven :}
Eonwe Valar: Congratulations :}
FinduilasV: Hence yon thank you letter ;-)
ArPharazonV: indeed :-)
ArPharazonV: now don't go doing stuff like that again, finding your
corpse may be harder next time ;-)
FinduilasV: I will try not to *grin*
Eonwe Valar: If you fall off a ledge, you can use Divine Shield,
Blessing of Protection, or Divine Protection on yourself, and you won't
take any damage from the fall (if you act fast enough)
FinduilasV: ah, good tip
FinduilasV: cheers
ArPharazonV: but not too fast, or it might wear off before you reach
the ground :-)
Eonwe Valar: That's come in handy for my Paladin many times.
Eonwe Valar: Divine Shield maxed gives you 12 seconds to hit the
ground, Blessing of Protection gives you 10 :}
FinduilasV: and that brings me to the next point , mor theoreticlally
anyway, to ask you for a forum area for WoW arent dawn, Eonwe?
Eonwe Valar: But aye, you have to judge the distance, but generally
speaking, you're not going to fall off any ledge tall enough for Divine
Shield or Blessing of Protection to wear off before hitting the ground.
FinduilasV: so i can put stuff like this in a more clean looking form
and have the possibility to split topics
FinduilasV: bring them und er their own heading that is
ArPharazonV: "generally speaking" being the keyphrase there...
VardaValar1: Finduilas, Menelvagor who is also on Argent Dawn with you
is the main Forum admin and can probably be a big help too.
ArPharazonV: if you ever set out to explore the hidden areas of the
world, you might find yourself falling a greater fall than you ever
anticipated
FinduilasV: ah okay , i will ask him
VardaValar1: We can help as well, but he is probably your best bet
FinduilasV: when i meet him
VardaValar1: Figure out exactly what you want and Eonwe and I can help
work it out though.
VardaValar1: Email is good too. : )
Eonwe Valar: I was toying with the idea of testing out the sub-board
abilities of the forum.
FarmerMaggotV has left the room.
GwaihirValar: I need ot go get ready for company blech... so I'll be
completely in stead of merely partially afk ;-)
Gamatzgamatz has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Take care Gwaihir and Merry Christmas :}
Eonwe Valar: Using Sub-boards, we could subdivide the current boards
into Lothar, Uldaman, and Argent Dawn if we wanted to.
FinduilasV: Namarie, Gwaihir!
ArPharazonV: Namarie Gwai!
ArPharazonV: Merry Xmas
Eonwe Valar: I wouldn't do that with all boarsd though, just a couple
where it makes sense, were I to do that.
Eonwe Valar: *boards.
FinduilasV: I dont really want to split things up like this , but
practically speaking, as Blizz has already done that and i cannot ask
Fainan or Auros for help, that would make sense though
FinduilasV: it might be easier to arrange times and meeting points via
the board
FinduilasV: or if peple feel like a spot of role playing for example
FinduilasV: Do you see what i mean?
Eonwe Valar: Well, we have a board for Role-play already.
Eonwe Valar: Under the WoW section.
FinduilasV: no i mean within the game
FinduilasV: *real role playing ;-) * , wih our characters in stormy or
goldy
Eonwe Valar: gotcha :}
top
Eonwe Valar: Any Tolkien topics?
Eonwe Valar: On a related Tolkien Note: Read "Eonwë's
Christmas" in the Guild's Stories section, by me :} It's a
light-hearted story that isn't exactly canon, but written (I think) in
the spirit of the Hobbit.
Eonwe Valar: It's a couple of years old, but hey, it's that time of
year :}
VardaValar1: It's worth a re-read? : )
VardaValar1: pardon
VardaValar1: That was a ! not a ?
Eonwe Valar: :}
VardaValar1: It is worth several re-reads.
ArPharazonV: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/stories/Eonwe/SantaTolkien.html
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar : )
Eonwe Valar: Let's call it here and let those who want to get back to
the Merry Making :}
Eonwe Valar: *Bangs Gavel*
top
After-meeting:
ArPharazonV: still reading the story
Eonwe Valar: Ah :}
Eonwe Valar: Well, I'll still be here :}
Eonwe Valar: But I may also pop into WoW to see if there are Valar
Guild boys and girls to give presents to :}
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Bilbo is there right now I think : )
VardaValar1: He is Billboh at the moment I think
Bookie032785: Sneaky lil' hobbit.
VardaValar1: Wish Book luck. He's into his test pretty good. : )
VardaValar1: hehe
Bookie032785: *bows*
Eonwe Valar: good luck book :}
Bookie032785: Thank you.
FinduilasV: Oh one thing I heard of this week, Varda from a work
colleague
FinduilasV: befiore i call it a night ;-)
VardaValar1: Fire away
FinduilasV: A few young lads from our produce department have started
to play wow, but they are on a different server
FinduilasV: and one of them has downloaded the game last week i think
FinduilasV: accidentally he lhad downloaded the us version and started
playing on the us sercvers ..
VardaValar1: And you asked them if they'd read LotR and would like to
pop in to Argent Dawn? : )
VardaValar1: ohhh
VardaValar1: He did it accidentally?!
VardaValar1: Hey guys, listen up to this. : )
FinduilasV: of course i did , ye know me hehe
VardaValar1: ;-)
FinduilasV: He did not know that there were two different versions , a
European and an American one
VardaValar1: So you suggested to the US guy to pop into Lothar for
Alliance and Uldaman for Horde? : )
FinduilasV: hehe, he now downloaded the european version and is playing
with the rest of the lads on darkmoon faire
VardaValar1: rats
FladrifV: wrong aswer findu :-)
FinduilasV: but , I thought, may be you know something about this or
would like to know about it , coz it contains hope ..
VardaValar1: Not if you haul them back out. ;-)
FinduilasV: so my question is > where can you download the game so I
can try this out for mysel ;-O)??
VardaValar1: Be sure to mention it to Menel
ArPharazonV: downloading the American version is one thing... you also
need American ways of paying for it then
ArPharazonV: like American gamecards
VardaValar1: Or an international credit card.
ArPharazonV: you can't play the US servers if you can't pay for them :-)
ArPharazonV: true, internation credit card could do the trick
FinduilasV: obviously heeh
VardaValar1: It has done the trick before.
FladrifV: in all countrys except holland creditcards are a normal thing
VardaValar1: Problem is to get people on the same server at the same
time.
FinduilasV: dunno , i have Visa and i think that Bruce might have an
Amrican Express one
FinduilasV: would be worth trying
FladrifV: visa ftw :-)
FinduilasV: I just feel a wee bit neglected being the only one of the
valarguild who is always online eh? No offence against you guys, but
hopefully you understand that a bit
ArPharazonV: then why are you always online? ;-)
VardaValar1: Online in game or AIM?
FinduilasV: in game
ArPharazonV: but honestly, if you're online that much, I really don't
see a problem with you creating another character on Darkmoon Faire, to
play with your colleagues, if that's what you want
FinduilasV: thats why i started to jump servers a bit , i. e. charas on
different servers, so i dont get bored
FinduilasV: no they are too young fo play with me , grin, with one
exception
VardaValar1: That's also why you need to scout and recruit, to get more
people to play with.
FladrifV: I can play at max 3 hours a day wow
FladrifV: and that for 3 days a week or so
ArPharazonV: WoW has a way of bringing all ages together in one
community, Finduilas :-)
FinduilasV: aye, i know, and connor is a real Role Player ;-) . so i do
enjoy playing with him, but at the same time i want to level and to
quest , with you as my guildmates ..
VardaValar1: We take all ages. If they can work, they are not too young.
FinduilasV: the time is ticking towards BC ..
VardaValar1: A very young player made the Lore Book, a brilliant
linguist.
VardaValar1: BC?
FinduilasV: Burning Crusade
VardaValar1: True
VardaValar1: Jan 16 isn't it?
FladrifV: *nod*
VardaValar1: I'll probably be up off and on all night with the turkey
and what not. Might be able to keep AIM up
FinduilasV: aye, all i ask is that you may be help me get me Pala up to
60 till then? and then you can battlefield as much as you want
Bookie032785: Question, how much is WoW's subscription per month?
FinduilasV: its just so i can let him fulfill his role as wandering
soldier and defender of the alliance better ...
FinduilasV: about ten pounds a month, that is british pound sterling
Bookie032785: Aha, okay.
FinduilasV: i pay 25 pound for three months
FinduilasV: so not too bad
Xseanzee disco has left the room.
FinduilasV: anyway, I just thought to ask can not hurt and its up to
you guys whether you want to consider it or not. Just a request from
Valar guild member to CValar guild member :-)
FinduilasV: Have a think about it and i wish you a merry chrismas and a
good night for now!
VardaValar1: ?
VardaValar1: Oh, to be on more?
Eonwe Valar: Here's an exerpt from my story that I particularly enjoy
:} :
FinduilasV: no to help me basically when we are online at the same time
eh?
VardaValar1: Go for it, Eonwe. : )
Eonwe Valar: "It is told elsewhere of the Valar’s secret love of Hobbit
cuisine, so I shall not go into details here.
VardaValar1: Good request, Fin
Eonwe Valar: Needless to say, after several days of such feasting,
Fionwë’s once tall, slim form of a jolly old man had become, well,
hobbitish in shape."
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: (Real Eonwe has zero fat. Met him.)
Eonwe Valar: Take care and Merry Christmas, Finduilas :}
VardaValar1: Namarie, Fin
ArPharazonV: Namarie, Finduilas!
FinduilasV: aye and to you all :-) Giuess we will meet on Wow, Flad ,
and Phara :-)
FinduilasV: Namarie!
FinduilasV has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Maybe a sequel to this week's tale :}
Eonwe Valar: (The one given by Phar and Finduilas for the WoW Argent
Dawn report)
Eonwe Valar: afk for a moment.
VardaValar1: I'll be going back and forth. Book is having First
Christmas Dinner. He gets another tomorrow. ;-)
FladrifV: namarie
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
FladrifV: behiind a computer on christmas....so wrong *grin*
ArPharazonV: we're spending it with other "family"!
VardaValar1: Aye Phar! : )
FladrifV has left the room.
Menelvagor Valar has entered the room.
Menelvagor Valar: Ah.
ArPharazonV: Aiya Menelvagor
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya
Menelvagor Valar: This new AIM 6.0 interface is slightly
confusing.
ArPharazonV: nothing's been said for the past hour, but you could spice
the meeting up a little!
ArPharazonV: oh, I'm back to the old one
ArPharazonV: new one was eating up way too much memory
ArPharazonV: and I hated the smilies :-)
Eonwe Valar: Heya Menel
Menelvagor Valar: gnegne :-P
Menelvagor Valar: Aiya Eonwe.
Eonwe Valar: Look for your Christmas present on the Encyclopedia page :}
GwaihirValar has left the room.
ArPharazonV: so yeah, I'm back to 5.9
ArPharazonV: if this ever becomes too buggy, or they don't support it
anymore, I'll head onwards to 6.0, but I'll postpone that as long as I
can
Menelvagor Valar: I have not yet found it Eonwe, care to give me a hint
or two?
Eonwe Valar: It's on the front page, and it wasn't there before :}
Eonwe Valar: It starts with "S" :}
Menelvagor Valar: And I thought it started with "Q"?
Menelvagor Valar: At least, Suery sounds a bit odd opposed to Query,
doesn't it?
Eonwe Valar: hehe
Eonwe Valar: Click the link called "Search" and give it a whirl :}
Merry Christmas :}
Menelvagor Valar: Dang...
Menelvagor Valar: it searches every article for a mention?
Eonwe Valar: Every article, aye.
Eonwe Valar: But only articles. It doesn't search poetry, stories, etc.
Eonwe Valar: There are a few tweaks I plan to make, but the point is
that it works.
Menelvagor Valar: yep.
Menelvagor Valar: Doesn't include non-encyc articles yet though.
Eonwe Valar: The point is to be able to search the Encyclopedia.
Menelvagor Valar: Yes, but I thought you would include stories :-)
Menelvagor Valar: or is it meant as just plain fact search?
Eonwe Valar: I told you it doesn't :}
Eonwe Valar: This version is strictly articles.
Eonwe Valar: After I get the other tweaks taken care of, I'll integrate
the ability to search stories, poems, etc.
Menelvagor Valar: There is one major problem.
Menelvagor Valar: the search option is not in the frames selection.
Menelvagor Valar: Which is why I overlooked it in the first place.
Menelvagor Valar: I always go straight for the frames button :-D
ArPharazonV: if you have frames on, it shows in the centre screen :-)
Menelvagor Valar: yes, but once you have dug up an article, you'd have
to go back to that center screen to dig the search option up.
Eonwe Valar: It's supposed to show in the center of the screen :}
ArPharazonV: good point, Menel
Eonwe Valar: oh, center screen.
Menelvagor Valar: And I am saying one in the frames part would not be
amiss.
ArPharazonV: but there's always the home option in the frames
ArPharazonV: so it's just one extra click
Menelvagor Valar: as for searching only articles, I'd say keep it that
way, unless you want to make another version with an advanced option
that allows to search other parts of the encyc as well.
Eonwe Valar: Well, I could easily separate results with articles from
results with stories.
Eonwe Valar: And display it in similar fashion to the data already
displayed.
Menelvagor Valar: if that's easy, I'd recommend it :-)
Eonwe Valar: It'll be one of my tweaks :}
Menelvagor Valar: okies :-)
Menelvagor Valar: you know something I completely forgot a month ago?
Menelvagor Valar: not interested I see?
ArPharazonV: I assumed you were going to tell us
ArPharazonV: but then again, I assume that every time, and still you
seem insulted when we not ask further
ArPharazonV: so I should have known better ;-)
Menelvagor Valar: Not insulted, just figure I should get a sign of
interest before I should go on :P
ArPharazonV: so, tell us! What did you completely forget a month ago?
Tease us no longer with your silence!
Menelvagor Valar: I am not silent, am I?
ArPharazonV: well, considering it's been about 8 minutes since you said
there was something you completely forgot a month ago
ArPharazonV: that's silence!
Menelvagor Valar: okies.
ArPharazonV: so speak, boy, speak!
Menelvagor Valar: no need to tease you any further :-)
Menelvagor Valar: I forgot to celebrate my 7th anniversary with the
Guild :-)
Menelvagor Valar: and my 2nd anniversary as Maia to boot.
ArPharazonV: oh, congratulations :-)
Menelvagor Valar: thanksies :-)
Eonwe Valar: Congrats Menel :}
Eonwe Valar: It's not that I don't care, it's that I'm doing more than
one thing :}
Eonwe Valar: It is Christmas Eve, so some of us are also preparing for
tomorrow, or celebrating :}
Menelvagor Valar: I know, don't worry :-)
Menelvagor Valar: merry X-mas btw.
ArPharazonV: same to you
ArPharazonV: and I'll be going to bed now
Menelvagor Valar: wouldn't do to figure that one out a month from now,
shouldn't it? :-)
Menelvagor Valar: Oh
Menelvagor Valar: and a Happy New year!
ArPharazonV: Namarie all, I'll save and send
Eonwe Valar: Merry Christmas :}
ArPharazonV: true! a Happy New year!
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well Phar :}
ArPharazonV: I almost forgot
Menelvagor Valar: I doubt any of us Euro's can come next meeting.
Menelvagor Valar: as it will be nearly midnight by the time we start :-)
Eonwe Valar: True :}
ArPharazonV: I will be spending New Year's in Belgium this year, with
The High Guard
ArPharazonV: so I was going to say, I won't be here next week :-)
Eonwe Valar: Well, you all have fun then :}
Menelvagor Valar: Say hi to Arelenda for me.
ArPharazonV: will do
Eonwe Valar: If I don't see you, Happy New Year! :}
ArPharazonV: Happy New Year to the Valarguild!
ArPharazonV: see you in 2007
ArPharazonV: saving and sending
VardaValar1: Thanks
Menelvagor Valar: Hi there Varda :-)
ArPharazonV: it has been sent
Menelvagor Valar: come in for a quick peek? :-)
VardaValar1: Hi
VardaValar1: The Search is what Eonwe made
ArPharazonV: ok, goodnight all
VardaValar1: I saw it about 15 minutes before the meeting
ArPharazonV: and until next year
VardaValar1: Good night and Merry Christmas!
VardaValar1: See you in a couple of Sundays : )
Menelvagor Valar: not for us Phar.
Menelvagor Valar: we'll see each other before the new one :-)
VardaValar1: So the Search barely had time to go on the quick and easy
links.
ArPharazonV: in-game, sure :-)
Menelvagor Valar: did good though Varda.
VardaValar1: It was intended for the Articles
Menelvagor Valar: Now go have fun with the family, it's your night
after all :-)
VardaValar1: We figured different Searches for the other sections.
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
Menelvagor Valar: that may be a possibilty too.
ArPharazonV: May Elune... ehrm... Eru shine upon you?
VardaValar1: hehe
Menelvagor Valar: but an all-integrated search with separated results
sounds better to me :-)
Menelvagor Valar: May Menelvagor's rays illumine your path at night.
Menelvagor Valar: Oh... I am Menelvagor...
Menelvagor Valar: uhm...
ArPharazonV has left the room.
VardaValar1: I wouldn't want the stories showing up with the articles
when researching, I don't think
VardaValar1: Thanks for lighting our path : )
Menelvagor Valar: Guess your path at night is illumined already :P
VardaValar1: With your help, aye. : )
VardaValar1: Finduilas was asking for you guys to help her level her
character when you can
Menelvagor Valar: that's why the separate results, I don't see why not.
Menelvagor Valar: not earlier than the 26th I am afraid.
Menelvagor Valar: but I think we can help her get 60 before TBC hits
the shelves.
Menelvagor Valar: and she'll have an almost guaranteed spot in my raid
comm then :-)
VardaValar1: She is worried about BC getting here before she's 60, aye.
: ) Thanks.
Menelvagor Valar: still 3 weeks away.
Menelvagor Valar: should be doable.
Menelvagor Valar: will be mostly her though.
Menelvagor Valar: I can help out with "easy" quest areas though.
Menelvagor Valar: 45-60 are largely spent in 3 areas.
Menelvagor Valar: Searing Gorge, Burning Steppes and the Plaguelands.
Menelvagor Valar: Maybe Winterspring as well, but I never bothered to
do much there. (too much frost resistance for my mage)
Menelvagor Valar: anyways, off to bed as well.
VardaValar1: Good night!
Eonwe Valar: Sleep well
Eonwe Valar: Merry Christmas
Eonwe Valar: Gute Weinachten
Eonwe Valar: Feliz Navidad
VardaValar1: My brother, Merry, drove in from San Marcos through the
rain. : )
VardaValar1: Merry-V
VardaValar1: so I'm bugging out now. : )
VardaValar1: He says Merry Christmas :-)
VardaValar1: Namarie
Eonwe Valar: Take care :}
Eonwe Valar: Merry Christmas :}
Eonwe Valar: To everyone over at your house :}
VardaValar1: Thanks and to all at yours. :-)
Bookie032785: Oi.. too much food.
VardaValar1: hehe
Bior the Ythling has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Elladan : )
Bior the Ythling: Aiya everyone :-)
VardaValar1: Cutting down on the side windows
Orodreth V has entered the room.
Oessala has entered the room.
Orodreth V: Aiya!
Orodreth V: I made it, right? ;-)
VardaValar1: Orodreth aiya!
VardaValar1: Merry Christmas : )
VardaValar1: Book here is Meneldil-ex testing to rejoin, and plays WoS
: )
VardaValar1: and SC
Bookie032785: Hey there Orodreth.. long time no see.
Orodreth V: WoS and SC? My counterpart.
Orodreth V: Now I just need to get him playing Eve!
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Thought you'd be tickled
Bior the Ythling: anyone still play wc3?
VardaValar1: yes they do : )
VardaValar1: Ar-Pharazon for one
Bior the Ythling: wat channel was it yall hung out in?
VardaValar1: Valar in East
VardaValar1: Battlenet, bless it, allowed us to play together from
every country.
VardaValar1: Now if MMORPG's would just do the same, we could hang out
together again!
Bior the Ythling: ive given up on mmo's sadly
Orodreth V: Eve lets everyone play together.
Orodreth V: If only you didn't play that silly WC3.
Bior the Ythling: wc3 = amazing :-(
Orodreth V: er
Orodreth V: WoW
Bior the Ythling: WoW = worthless imo :-P
Orodreth V: Right!
Bior the Ythling: loved it for a while but i saw the light :-D
Orodreth V: Eve, now..
Bior the Ythling: dota and ring wars = my maps now
Orodreth V: not allstars, I hope?
Bior the Ythling: meh have to its the only map cal uses :-\
Orodreth V: :\
Bior the Ythling: its not that bad
Orodreth V: Trying to remember what dota maps I played..
Bookie032785: Ah, DotA
Bookie032785: The memories. :P
Bior the Ythling: on my old comp i have the beta for the second version
:-)

VardaValar1: Welcome back to the Valar Guild, Meneldil-(V)!
Bookie032785: Thank you!!
VardaValar1: Book just passed his rejoin test. Lots of nice details. :-)
Bookie032785: :-D
Bookie032785: Or, atleast, an attempt at creativity.
Bookie032785: *shifty*
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: Some of them you would have had to be JRRT!
El Capitan Chobo has entered the room.
El Capitan Chobo: Aiya
Eonwe Valar: Welcome back to the Valar Guild, Meneldil :}
Bookie032785: Thank you, Eonwe.
VardaValar1: Aiya and Merry Christmas, Caranthir!
Bookie032785: Aiya, there!
Eonwe Valar: Heya Orodreth and Caranthir, and Merry Christmas :}
VardaValar1: Book here is our returned Meneldil-(V) :-)
Bookie032785: I'm back to Minas Anor after.. er.. venturing to the far
East.
El Capitan Chobo: Merry Christmas :-)
Bookie032785: Far, far, far East.
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: So should we tell Caranthir about his Christmas present,
Eonwe?
Bior the Ythling: congrats menel!
VardaValar1: We could also give him the URL for the inside scoop on
Santa at http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/stories/Eonwe/SantaTolkien.html
Bookie032785: I love the Christmas present, Eonwe. Keep it just as
simple as it is!
VardaValar1: Ok, so the Christmas present is one he gets to share with
the guild Who wants to tell him?
El Capitan Chobo: i have a christmas present lol?
VardaValar1: Yes, even Caranthir gets one!
Eonwe Valar: go to the Encyclopedia page :}
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org
click Tolkien
El Capitan Chobo: ok
Bookie032785: *enjoying the marathon of Rankin Bass Christmas classics
on ABC Family*
VardaValar1: cool
Bookie032785: He's Mr. Heat Miser... whatever he touches.. starts to
melt in his touch..
VardaValar1: Now see the new link? Says "Search"
Eonwe Valar: I like that one too :}
Bior the Ythling: excellent work eonwe!
Eonwe Valar: Aye, click on Search :}
VardaValar1: Eonwe - SuperProgrammer!
Bior the Ythling: *cheers*
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
Eonwe Valar: Glad you all enjoy it :}
El Capitan Chobo: very nice
VardaValar1: I think it's about even or above sliced bread.
Bookie032785: PHP Master, we bow down to you.
Eonwe Valar: hehe
VardaValar1: Speaking of slicing, I need to go slice some onions
Bior the Ythling: im hungry :-(
Bior the Ythling: we got no food within my reach tho
Eonwe Valar: Please tell me it's not for the green bean casserole.
Bior the Ythling: ewwww
Bookie032785: *sends some ham, potatoes, yams, and green beans Bior's
way*
VardaValar1: nope : )
Bior the Ythling: no offense :-P but ewwwww
VardaValar1: For corn bread stuffing
Eonwe Valar: Oh good :}
VardaValar1: with jalapenos
Bior the Ythling: i get chocolate creme pie tomorrow
VardaValar1: nice!
VardaValar1: Lemon creme pie here
Eonwe Valar: I could add a select box to the search engine to choose
which section of the Encyclopedia to search. What do you all think?
VardaValar1: Plenty of other chocolate
Bookie032785: Newbie opinion, but no! It's great being simple.
Eonwe Valar: I.E., articles, stories, or poems.
Bookie032785: A simple box.
Bookie032785: I love it being just the search box.
VardaValar1: Would be allowing you to pick through the other two main
text sections too.
VardaValar1: Or it could be one per section
VardaValar1: The ability to look through all is cool, but the way it's
set up is so fast!
VardaValar1: Annatar is walking by with gifts :-)
Bookie032785: Resist! Resist! :P
Eonwe Valar: As long as it's only looking through one section at a
time, the runtime shouldn't be increased.
VardaValar1: Eowyn says come sample her chocolate cherrys
Eonwe Valar: mmm, chocolate covered cherries...
VardaValar1: Would we have to pick each time?
VardaValar1: hehe
Eonwe Valar: Well, it'd be like the current text box in that the
selected value from the last search would be the current choice.
VardaValar1: Right now the Search blasts through the articles with no
extra picking
VardaValar1: ahh, that would work then
Eonwe Valar: If you want to go from Searching articles to stories,
you'd have to switch.
Bior the Ythling: varda i dont recall did you ever discover what book
bior was in?
VardaValar1: We did
VardaValar1: but I forgot again :-)
Eonwe Valar: But I'd default it to articles since that's what everyone
especially likes it for :}
Bior the Ythling: book of lost tales 2 maybe?
VardaValar1: Good default!
Eonwe Valar: Pardon, I must go afk for a couple of minutes.
VardaValar1: me too, must chop stuff
VardaValar1: hmm
El Capitan Chobo: afk as well lol
VardaValar1: Anyone else with a book pile who can do the look up for
Bior?
VardaValar1: I really better go for a bit again
VardaValar1: sorry I forgot. Melkor calls it a "senior moment"
VardaValar1: afk
Bookie032785: I'm hopping around at the moment.
Bookie032785: It'd be funny at the Search page if you put some sort of
random "You ask Eru Iluvatar to find..." or something to that nature.
Orodreth V: Eve is a mmorpg
Orodreth V: www.eve-online.com
Bookie032785: Yeah, I looked it up.
Orodreth V: busy playing now
Orodreth V: :p
Bookie032785: No worries.
Orodreth V: working on making money for my corp to buy a pos. (player
owned station)
Orodreth V: with the purchase of a replacement thorax (ship) for a
corpmate, I think we have 120m? out of a needed 450m or so to run it
for 3 weeks.
Orodreth V: er, startup and 3 weeks of running
Bookie032785: Sounds complicated.
Bior the Ythling has left the room.
Eonwe Valar has left the room.
VardaValar1: Bior is BoLT 2
Bookie032785: You've piqued my interest in HoME, Varda. Got it on hold
at my library. :D
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: hello?
Eonwe Valar: There we go.
Eonwe Valar: Got disconnected while I was away.
Bookie032785: WB
Eonwe Valar: Thanks
Orodreth V: Eve gets as complicated as you want it, really.
VardaValar1: hehe, corrupted Meneldil :-)
VardaValar1: Aiyata, Eonwe :-)
VardaValar1: slipping over to the side here to wrap the last presents
VardaValar1: Since it's past midnight, people are asking if we can
start opening them.
VardaValar1: Mind you, no one is under 23
Bookie032785: :-P
Eonwe Valar: Hehe
Eonwe Valar: Tell them they have to at least pretend to get some sleep
first :}
Bookie032785: Sleep sounds rather nice at the moment.
VardaValar1: I'm..not asleep?
VardaValar1: Still waiting on Fangorn to make it home
VardaValar1: Merry's waiting on the WoW patch
VardaValar1: Bilbo and Sauron are playing WoW
VardaValar1: Eowyn and I are finding ever more ways on how to mess up a
kitchen while inventing new filks.
VardaValar1: Not sure which of us sleepy types is having more fun
Bookie032785: Hehe.. I'm playing iSketch.. how did the onions go?
VardaValar1: Chopped and sauteed with real butter, garlic, jalapenos
VardaValar1: Part of the additions to the corn bread stuffing
VardaValar1: How's iSketch? :-)
Bookie032785: Sounds delicious.. pretty good.
Bookie032785: No one ever comes to the good rooms. (ie: Trivia,
Middle-earth, Books, etc.)
VardaValar1: I tried a chat room like that and nearly drowned in a mad
scroll of spam.
VardaValar1: Find one that behaves?
Bookie032785: I sit and hope someone notices that the room's name is
bold. :D
Bookie032785: Regular words are so boring.
VardaValar1: It's the arrangement that's important. ;-)
Bookie032785: It's much more fun trying to get someone to say Magna
Carta over car.
VardaValar1: You found the best room on AIM right here.
Bookie032785: You bet I did. :D
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: back to the kitchen : )
VardaValar1: Will scroll
Bookie032785: Doubt you'll have much scrollin' to do.. have fun.
VardaValar1: Oh, and we have several members gaming in WoW right now.
:-) No one sleep?
VardaValar1: okies
VardaValar1: Meneldil, do you have a web page that you want linked to
your Member info? One you made like a blog or other?
Bookie032785: You can use my library's website... http://www.hdpl.org
Bookie032785: That's mostly what I do.
VardaValar1: It's for personal websites, but that's good to know! Does
it mention you on it?
VardaValar1: If it has something too personal on it, you might not want
the link
Bookie032785: Nope, nothing personal on it.
VardaValar1: address, real name, whatnot.
VardaValar1: okies : )
Bookie032785: Just the place where I spend atleast 50 hours a week at.
XD
VardaValar1: hehe
Bookie032785: Merry Christmas, atlast. :-)
VardaValar1: Congrats!
VardaValar1: 2 am here : )
VardaValar1: Merry Christmas!
VardaValar1: Feels weird that we didn't do our usual Tolkien section
VardaValar1: You and I got it by doing the test : )
VardaValar1: The rest were shorted a bit
VardaValar1: They'll have to eat pie and feel better. : )
Bookie032785: I'm sure they'll make it through 'til next week. :-P
Bookie032785: I loved that test, by the way.
Bookie032785: Big fan of trivia.
VardaValar1: They are fun : )
VardaValar1: Meneldil, you're now up on the Members and News
VardaValar1: I just got the best
VardaValar1: Christmas yet
