Varda Valar (23:27:29):    We've already fought in the Battle of the Pelennor, questing in the Slag-hills and the Wastes. So already on the edge.
Arien V (23:27:57):    very good :)

Varda Valar (23:34:27):    Tolkien!
Varda Valar (23:35:13):    The LotRO talk about Mordor made me wonder about what would have happened in the book world after the One Ring was destroyed.
Varda Valar (23:35:39):    We know anything built up using the power of the Ring had its rug pulled out from under it, so to speak.
Varda Valar (23:36:00):    Sauron and the Ringwraiths were gone.
Varda Valar (23:36:27):    The fell-beasts may have been mopped up by the eagles while disoriented, since so many eagles were present.
Varda Valar (23:36:52):    Although some injured fell-beasts may have survived, perhaps? Presumed dead at the time?
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:36:47):    Gandalf was set up to keep an eye on the place with a fat expense account, to be voided only if he ever decided to set foot back into Gondor... or was that the parody novel? ;)
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:37:25):    I'm not sure how many fel beasts were available, anyway. They seemed pretty selective mounts for the ringwraiths. Maybe not too many of them around afterwards.
Varda Valar (23:39:28):    We only know for sure of 9 fell-beasts
Varda Valar (23:39:29):    but
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:39:25):    Possibly more, one of them get shot down.
Varda Valar (23:39:56):    we know the Nazgul were sent back to be "reclothed", and may have been "re-horsed".
Varda Valar (23:40:01):    Aye
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:39:54):    Seems to me Sauron would keep more than the minimum around, in case of casualties. He did seem kind of a "strength in numbers" kind of guy.
Varda Valar (23:40:14):    Agreed.
Varda Valar (23:40:27):    They were also tough to breed up and to handle once around.
Varda Valar (23:40:42):    So there could have been a few, either left for dead or extra mounts.
Varda Valar (23:41:10):    We know Aragorn and Eomer worked together, taking soldiers out to clear up bands of Orcs for quite some time.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:41:04):    They were left without a master, riders, or pretty much any organizational breeding program though.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:41:19):    Not sure if they'd have survived as a species on their own.
Varda Valar (23:41:35):    Likely that there were still bands of Harad, Easterlings, etc.
Varda Valar (23:41:44):    Not likley as a species, agreed.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:42:01):    And yes, I do believe Aragorn made furter incursions to Harad.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:42:04):    *further
Varda Valar (23:42:40):    Sauron was into breeding up all manner of things, so some partly bred could have been loose or used by survivors.
Varda Valar (23:42:45):    as well as fully bred.
Arien V (23:42:51):    well what about the orignal ones? i mean there are rumors that they were in the way of producing descendants like elves?
Varda Valar (23:43:27):    Original what? Sorry, not sure what you're referring to.
Varda Valar (23:44:26):    If you mean Orcs, yes, they were definitely producing in the normal manner. Not pod people like the movies. :)
Arien V (23:45:45):    yes orcs
Varda Valar (23:45:48):    Since so many of the minions expected to be bossed around and were of that mindset, some of the upper levels could take advantage and try to set up their own small or large realms/bands.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:45:59):    Some of them had that in mind before Sauron fell, too.
Varda Valar (23:46:16):    Aye, more than a rumor. So they could have continued causing problems for a long time.
Varda Valar (23:46:32):    Right. Some Orcs wanted to form their own personal profit bandit gangs.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:46:23):    Good opportunity to go through with it. But they'd be hard pressed to keep any territory.
Arien V (23:46:44):    the strongest takes the lead for a while
Varda Valar (23:46:48):    And we know trolls liked to waylay travelers for fun and profit and lunch.
Varda Valar (23:47:26):    Aye, the strong leaders, and they didn't have to be orcs at all, would still have their own old commands and try to take others.
Varda Valar (23:47:40):    This is my section of rubble!
Varda Valar (23:48:15):    Also, there could have been areas not wholly dependent on the Ring for a foundation or walls.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:48:29):    Places the orcs might have set up themselves.
Varda Valar (23:48:44):    And they could tell their minions to collect building parts and start rebuilding before Aragorn's forces lopped off their heads. Incentive.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:48:42):    Ah yes.
Varda Valar (23:49:16):    Right. Orcs would definitely set up their own bands.
Varda Valar (23:49:34):    There were others than orcs.
Varda Valar (23:49:47):    We know of the Mouth of Sauron, for instance.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:49:38):    Shelob's still around as well.
Varda Valar (23:50:05):    True. Injured and angry, and more cautious.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:49:59):    Unless Aragorn sent expeditions in there to smoke her out.
Varda Valar (23:50:18):    The Watchers were around.
Varda Valar (23:50:38):    No mention of that in the books, of Aragorn's forces going after her, but it's likely after what he heard.
Varda Valar (23:50:53):    Or maybe that's too much tunnel to smoke all of?
Eonwe Valar (23:51:17):    Probably safer to collapse the tunnel or just not go in and let her be.
Varda Valar (23:51:31):    The Watchers in the stones that Gollum led Frodo and Sam around may have still been there.
Varda Valar (23:51:47):    Aye, Eonwe. They may also have just let her stay and eat orcs.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:51:39):    Could block off the entrances.
Varda Valar (23:52:36):    True. Orcs might try to clear tunnels for their own use or block off where they could as they knew about Shelob. Plus Aragorn's forces messing with the entrances.
Varda Valar (23:53:17):    Wargs were in Mordor too, intelligent. Could have formed their own packs, or worked with other survivors.
Varda Valar (23:54:34):    The whole place would have been dangerous just from instability. Anyone staying there would have tried to find a way to make it safer without making it too obvious where they were unless they felt strong.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:54:36):    After the initial collapse it might be pretty stable.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:54:42):    After the lava cools.
Varda Valar (23:55:28):    Lava stablization. :) Some mortar there!
Varda Valar (23:56:27):    Forces from the south might have come in just to see about loot. Maybe set up their own places in there.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:59:55):    Dunno. Would it really have been more hospitable than Harad?
Monday, June 26, 2017
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:00:08):    Though I guess there'd be room, at least.
Varda Valar (00:00:39):    Just for some. Most would probably not move in.
Arien V (00:00:40):    well vulcanic soil is said to be pretty arable ^^ after a;; cooled off :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:00:42):    good point
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:00:54):    Lots of fresh minerals.
Arien V (00:01:36):    maybe desperate people would move there .. refugees or former slaves kept in the orc fortresses
Varda Valar (00:01:58):    True, good farming. So that would allow food where there hadn't been before, for the whole area. Orcs, ex-minions of Sauron would have food.
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:03:06):    I wonder if said slaves and refugees wouldn't prefer migrating to Gondor.
Varda Valar (00:03:58):    They had heard scary stories of how horribly the Gondorians would treat them. But some might try.
Varda Valar (00:04:42):    They might have hoped to live free of any master, with Sauron gone, but would have had a nasty surprise soon enough, most likely.
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:04:56):    Orc warlords? Yes, probably.
Varda Valar (00:05:30):    Aye. And other non-orcs.
Varda Valar (00:08:38):    We know there were nameless things in the deeps of Moria. Sauron knew that too, and would have used them by placing them conveniently, and maybe offering them lucrative positions.
Varda Valar (00:08:52):    Others might have already been living in Mordor.
Varda Valar (00:09:18):    After all, where did those things come from? Sauron may have known them quite well.
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:09:30):    Morgoth's creations, or creatures from beyond akin to Ungoliant, perhaps.
Varda Valar (00:10:38):    Aye. And Sauron did most of the "creating" for Morgoth, corrupting things. Morgoth gave offers of power, as did Sauron.
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:11:40):    It's likely Sauron would've kept some in strategic locations in Mordor as last lines of defense. But his fate was not decided by battle in Mordor, unless you count the hobbits fighting Gollum :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:12:13):    Their territories would've been widely avoided by Mordor's lesser inhabitants though.
Varda Valar (00:13:00):    Aye, or they would curry favor if they knew how. Maybe some of those farm products, slaves they captured.
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:13:46):    "Here, you indescrible horror god from the void, have a basket of apples! They're good for you!"
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:13:52):    *indescribable
Varda Valar (00:14:09):    hehehehe
Varda Valar (00:14:25):    And if it has a sweet tooth... Could work!
Varda Valar (00:16:22):    Sweet fang?
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:16:45):    sweet tentacle?
Varda Valar (00:17:49):    Shades of Cthulu.
Arien V (00:17:56):    tentacle .. definitly
Arien V (00:18:11):    void monsters always have tentacles :)
Varda Valar (00:18:15):    Well, it's about that time. Eonwe needs to go, you guys should be given a chance to sleep.
Varda Valar (00:18:18):    hehe, right!
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:18:20):    Well, the Watcher had tentacles. Or was that movie/game only?
Varda Valar (00:18:50):    The Watcher in the Water did have tentacles, aye. With fingers on the ends.
Varda Valar (00:19:18):    Pretty cool monster, unless you have to meet it.

Varda Valar (00:21:07):    *a hammer marches out from the shelf and salutes smartly*
Varda Valar (00:21:30):    *then it produces a paint bucket and brush, quickly painting the hammerpad pink*
Varda Valar (00:21:45):    *the hammer runs back to the shelf at top speed*
Varda Valar (00:21:54):    *the hammerpad shakes itself off.*
Varda Valar (00:22:03):    *we are now spotted pink*
top

Varda Valar (00:22:07):    After-meeting!
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:22:04):    It didn't actually strike the pad,did it?
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:22:11):    does that still count?
Arien V (00:22:28):    must have been a kind of squid then eh?
Varda Valar (00:22:52):    It did strike with a paintbrush! Dastardly.
Varda Valar (00:23:25):    Oh, and there's the delayed "splud" sound!
Varda Valar (00:23:31):    It was a very fast painter.

Ar-Pharazon-V (00:23:32):    Why are tentacled creatures supposed to be so scary? Is it the cold, slimy wriggly part of it?
Varda Valar (00:24:04):    How cuddly does an octopus look, generally?
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:24:05):    Very, it just wants a hug!
Eonwe Valar (00:24:25):    And if memory serves, at least the ones I'm thinking of have suction cups with hooks in them.
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:24:25):    Ah yes, that's slightly less huggy.
Varda Valar (00:24:45):    Those suction cups are really strong, too. Super hug!
Varda Valar (00:25:11):    The hooks... Call it super Velcro?
Eonwe Valar (00:25:17):    hehe

Varda Valar (00:25:52):    Anyway, free chat! Or run as needed. :)
Eonwe Valar (00:27:25):    That's my cue. Take care all and have a good night :}
Varda Valar (00:27:49):    Namarie, Eonwe! Thanks for coming and for your webwork and so much. :)
Arien V (00:27:59):    Namarie Eonwe :)
Eonwe Valar (00:28:04):    *bow*
Varda Valar (00:28:13):    *curtsey*
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:28:01):    Namarie!
Arien V (01:18:54):    Namarie gang .. got to catch up some sleep ^^
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:18:47):    Namarie!
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:25:04):    Will give gaming report in a bit, after doing some Storm :) Silly friends who need to get up early, hm?
Varda Valar (02:02:03):    It's all in your time zones. :)
Varda Valar (02:02:16):    Had a nice supper.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:02:14):    yay!
Varda Valar (02:02:46):    Hope Storm is going well?
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:03:19):    Yep, just finished our two matches for the day. Marshall raynor skin is quite nice :)
Varda Valar (02:03:46):    I always liked that guy.

Ar-Pharazon-V (02:19:14):    Gaming report!
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:29:35):    Flashgaming:
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:30:28):    http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/692571 Orange Revenge, I don't usually link from this site but the version I found on the websites I usually get it from isn't working. So there.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:30:45):    Solve math problems and save tomatoes by getting the right number rescued.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:31:14):    Seems to be a saving problem, so maybe other websites are better... dunno, good luck finding out, though, if you like the game enough :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:32:08):    http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/tiny_frontier_saga is the second game, a wild west themed roguelike game, you play a sheriff who needs to save his fiancee from a gang of bandits.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:36:49):    For the third game, http://www.kongregate.com/games/krangGAMES/beloved is a small, simple puzzle game I got the badge for this week, few minutes of entertainment but a bit preachy with its message.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:37:18):    Not much of a great catch this week, but I still hope you can enjoy them ;)

Ar-Pharazon-V (02:40:40):    Blizzard gaming!
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:42:06):    Heroes of the Storm: Not much news. Got home on friday, cleared the last 7 matches I still needed for the Malthael event with a friend by spamming games with beginner AI and simply trying to roll over the opposition as fast as we could, sometimes within 10 minutes. Some maps don't lend themselves to that very well.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:42:21):    Day after I did the brawl for this week, a one-lane game with random heroes.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:43:20):    Hearthstone: All heroes to 49! At the cost of some daily quests, but I already missed out on a bunch last week, a few more can't hurt. When I'm caught up on more stuff I'm sure I'll be able to resume getting one quest a day again.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:44:12):    This week's tavern brawl: Choose a class, get a few class cards and a whole lot of webspinners (1/1 spiders that give a random beast to your hand when killed). Quite fun and random.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:44:25):    WoW:
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:45:27):    Missed the first 4 bosses in Tomb of Sargeras normal this week because I was gone, but did see and kill 3 later bosses tonight. Kinda tough, but fun. Some nice lore involved, too.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:46:59):    No new recipes, pvp world quests or pet master quests... quite boring on that front. I did get a few more marks of honor from the weekly quest, which was winning 4 battlegrounds. Almost enough for the second arsenal now.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:48:29):    Started working on some of the midsummer fire festivals whenever I have time, but haven't had much yet. I'll have to step up next week if I want to get the 1150 blossoms I need to get my missing stuff.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:49:41):    And finally (yes, it's a short report, no surprise there) I did not yet get my last appearance from Arcatraz. Just gotta keep at it!
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:49:53):    And that's my report for this week!
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:51:57):    Oh, I will share a funny easter egg I found in the index to the Warcraft Chronicles volume 2 this week :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:52:17):    "dreadlord, see Jaina Proudmoore" ;)

Ar-Pharazon-V (04:19:24):    will send transcript tomorrow, namarie!
Varda Valar (04:19:49):    Hantal
