Varda Valar (23:27:41): http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/Elwing/dragon.jpg

Varda Valar (23:28:26): Egad. I didn't expect the
image to post in here, Cool.
Varda Valar (23:28:27): Right!
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:28:56): Nice one!
Varda Valar (23:31:40): Been trying to handle the art
posts from our Facebook buddies, but they tend to look sideways as they
are on a desk, rather than straight out where we can use them. Hoping
for final pics we can use later.
Varda Valar (23:32:05): On to
Varda Valar (23:32:07): Gaming:
Varda Valar (23:33:17): Eonwe isn't able to be here

Varda Valar (23:34:01): More
Varda Valar (23:34:14): Any other general WoW news?
Varda Valar (23:35:16): Heroes of the Storm:
Varda Valar (23:35:26): A
new patch is out. See the patch notes, and welcome the newest hero, Alexei Stukov.
Varda Valar (23:35:33): Hearthstone:
Varda Valar (23:35:41): In
the wake of the announcement of Hearthstone's coming expansion,
Blizzard gives us a peek at The Lich King's job interview.
Varda Valar (23:35:50): There
was also an update a couple of days ago.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:35:53): I have it on good authority
that apparently Stukov is overpowered.. or so my teammate says ;)
Varda Valar (23:36:18): heh. Guess we'll find out.
Varda Valar (23:36:32): Overwatch:
Varda Valar (23:36:40): A
new hero has been announced: Doomfist. Check out his origin
Varda Valar (23:36:49): LotRO:
Varda Valar (23:36:54): (news from Eonwe)
Varda Valar (23:37:05): The
next expansion: Mordor, has had it's release date announced: July 31st!
See the Bundles and Prices as well as the FAQ.
Surprisingly, the High Elf will not be part of the standard expansion
offerings, but comes with the pricier bundles.
Varda Valar (23:37:42): Gil-galad-V sent a link
related to the forum "discussion" on the expansion release:
Varda Valar (23:37:49): https://thebeardedminstrel.blogspot.com.br/2017/07/in-defence-of-mordor-bundles.html
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:37:56): One does not simple elf
Varda Valar (23:38:02): I had not heard the term
Varda Valar (23:38:12): Phar, that's a title we can
Varda Valar (23:38:27): "Simply walked into Mordor"
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:38:39): haha
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:38:55): and I've heard the term
whales, but mostly in terms of online card games with real cash to
spend on better or more cards
Varda Valar (23:39:17): I was hoping to get the
summer festival's flower basket horse and ride it in Mordor to annoy
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:39:28): in an mmo, seems a strange
Varda Valar (23:39:32): Pay to play guys?
Arien V (23:39:49): a flower horse to annoy Sauron
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:40:00): Particularly heavy
Arien V (23:40:13): i guess flowers are a bit of an
antathema to the desolation of Mordor
Varda Valar (23:40:15): Whales in an mmo are
apparently people willing to spend money for game stuff that others
consider too high a price.
Varda Valar (23:40:27): Stinging nettles, maybe?
Arien V (23:41:30): i think torny bushes ere
mentioned in the Return of the King
as Sam and Frodo flee from the orc army
Varda Valar (23:41:35): ahh, here's a quote
explaining the term in context:
Varda Valar (23:41:37): On one side you have the
individuals who believe the prices are too steep for what you are
getting and on the other side you have the individuals who are willing
to pay anything for new content and are looking to support SSG; we in
the gaming community typically call these individuals, insultingly so,
Arien V (23:41:42): pardon me i mean were
Varda Valar (23:41:51): Aye, Arien, seems as if I
remember that too.
Varda Valar (23:42:16): The toughest, most able to
fight back plants, so ones we would not enjoy being there.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:42:41): "whales" probably
originated as an exaggerated version of "cash cows", I suspect.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:44:19): As in, players who are
ready to be milked for money by any content you throw at em ;)
Varda Valar (23:44:34): Well, it was a new term to me
and therefore interesting. I already bought the pre-order Mordor
ultimate for my main account.
Varda Valar (23:45:12): As a lifetime account holder
who pays nothing every month now, I can pay out of the savings from
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:45:16): Oh, I always buy CEs for my
blizzard games. But I don't like micro-transactions for mounts or pets,
and throwing thousands into an online card game is nothing I suspect
I'll ever do.
Varda Valar (23:45:38): We got our accounts paid up
from the Lifetime money a while back and support the game with
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:45:54): And yes, that works.
Varda Valar (23:46:13): Agreed, Phar. I'd rather do
the big batch and not mess around with buying every little rock in the
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:46:30): Meanwhile, I just got a
friend in the UK to buy that rare fifth WoW magazine edition for over
30 euros for me ;)
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:46:37): Unique lore, I'll pay for!
Varda Valar (23:46:45): Congratulations!
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:47:03): thanks :)
Varda Valar (23:47:05): Collector's items for us
collectors, that's what this stuff is.
Arien V (23:47:13): very nice
Varda Valar (23:47:33): We will have goodies in the
future that are historically only from some particular time, and usable.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:48:25): Oh yes. That makes it very
Varda Valar (23:49:14): The nice thing is if a person
doesn't want to spend anything on it, they can collect points from
playing the game and buy the expansion this winter for no money at all.
Varda Valar (23:49:45): And they can get it when the
server isn't overloaded with everyone jumpingn into thhe new area on
(23:49:54) vardavalar1 added scott92027 to this group chat.
Varda Valar (23:50:28): Sorry Elladan, thought I
already hit Add on the invitation.
Varda Valar (23:50:49): StarCraft 2: gaming by Fangorn and
Elladan (23:50:51): all good.
Varda Valar (23:51:06): StarCraft/BroodWar gaming by Varda
Varda Valar (23:52:09): Eonwe emailed that WoW had
"Logged in on WoW Lothar this week: Eonwe, Bofur, Arien."
Varda Valar (23:52:45): Elladan, we were just
tallking a little about the upcoming Mordor expansion for LotRO. :)
Varda Valar (23:53:11): If anyone has a Tolkien
topic, please feel free to mention it.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:53:20): well, I've got news for
another game, perhaps?
Varda Valar (23:53:40): Fire away, Phar!
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:54:29): Unexpectedly, for those who
are interested, Cookie Clicker
got another major update yesterday. I'm still trying to wrap my head
around it, but it comes with a new currency, mini-games, new upgrades,
achievements, and prestige upgrades.
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:54:34): It does manage to keep
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:54:49): orteil.dashnet.org/cookieclicker/
Ar-Pharazon-V (23:55:01): And that's it for me :)
Varda Valar (23:55:18): Thanks!
Varda Valar (23:55:30): And beffore I forget, Bilbo-V
had this for us.
Varda Valar (23:55:58): The Ark game is
amazing looking, using the Unreal Engine 4.
Varda Valar (23:56:14): https://www.playark.com/
Survival game with amazing graphics.
Multiplayer or single player.
Taming dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures,
plus wyverns and gryphons and other fun.
Varda Valar (23:57:06): I saw the graphics. It's
incredible. Thought it was photography at first of an outdoor area.
Varda Valar (23:57:48): Reminds me, LotRO is planning on going into 64
bit at last. Be a while yet, but working on it.
Varda Valar (23:58:27): Considering the game has been
around for 10 years, it's a real labor of love to consider such a
project. Much easier starting out.
Varda Valar (23:59:24): Enjoy dinner, Elladan!
Monday, July 17, 2017
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:00:00): Namarie!
Arien V (00:00:12): Namarie :)
Varda Valar (00:00:39): Elladan said he liked the
idea of using Discord for meetings.
Varda Valar (00:01:08): We'll see how it works out.
So far most typing is in AIM, heh.
Varda Valar (00:04:10): Ok, just collected the LotRO list for the week:
Varda Valar (00:04:13):
Varda Valar (00:05:02): Any others spotted in your
Arien V (00:05:33): oh the usual suspects in Wow :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:05:34): Bit more Fladrif.
Varda Valar (00:05:43): Yay!
Arien V (00:05:45): Helm and Phara ::)

Arien V (00:06:31): i cant remember his name i am
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:06:48): Palando?
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:06:57): No, not unless it's Eve I
Arien V (00:07:25): Pallando Eve if he still plays it#
Varda Valar (00:07:27): Bofur
Varda Valar (00:08:08): Eonwe mentioned Bofur
Arien V (00:08:10): i still have an active alpha
account but i dont play really a lot on there at the moment and yes
thank you Varda :)
Arien V (00:08:19): or Nob is it?
Varda Valar (00:08:37): Not this past week, that
Eonwe saw. He's one in WoW too.
Arien V (00:08:50): aye
Varda Valar (00:08:51): Also in LotRO
Arien V (00:08:54): okay
Varda Valar (00:10:20): Any other businies, news,
suggestions, something you'd like to see?
Varda Valar (00:13:02): Elladan took the Discord invitation.
Varda Valar (00:13:21): We do use it in LotRO. WoW
folks might find it handy?
Arien V (00:13:22): good good :)
Varda Valar (00:13:51): If Bofur has Discord, would
that work for you, Arien?
Arien V (00:14:14): sure would
Varda Valar (00:14:27): Nice. We'll see what we can
Varda Valar (00:14:42): Maybe you can get him and me
together sometime. :)
Varda Valar (00:14:55): I may not be terribly
available in the next few days, so no rush!
Varda Valar (00:15:45): Eonwe sent a couple of
suggestions for a Tolkien topic, or we could do a game with working
from the first letters of a Tolkien topic word and coming up with
Arien V (00:15:48): oki dok
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:16:20): sure, that sounds
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:16:44): writing them down for
future use? :)
Varda Valar (00:16:52): Ok, I'll start, Then Arien,
then Phar. I say "Sauron" and you come up with an S word.
Varda Valar (00:16:58): good idea
Varda Valar (00:17:04): Keep track
Varda Valar (00:17:32): Oh the topics? Ye, I collect
them when given. Most are used right away, but we seem to all be a
little distracted maybe.
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:17:36): But.. everything will start
with an S, then?
Varda Valar (00:17:36): Maybe just me. :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:17:43): And yes, I meant the topics.
Varda Valar (00:17:44): oops.
Varda Valar (00:17:58): Ok, next starts with N
Varda Valar (00:18:02): end of the word.
Varda Valar (00:18:13): Thanks. :)
Varda Valar (00:19:27): Ok, to Arien the word is
Varda Valar (00:22:27): I'm in the right channel...
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:22:35): You are.
Varda Valar (00:22:54): Guess Arien is away. To Phar,
the word is Sauron.
Arien V (00:23:10): i am halfaways here :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:23:22): Hmm...
Arien V (00:23:34): Sauron
Varda Valar (00:23:56): word needs to start with N to
answer my Sauron.
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:23:58): Numenor!
Varda Valar (00:24:21): There you go. Now a word
starting in R
Varda Valar (00:24:35): Radagast
Varda Valar (00:24:44): To Arien, word starting with T
Arien V (00:24:57): uh Turambar
Varda Valar (00:25:08): R to Phar
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:25:14): Rohan.
Varda Valar (00:25:45): Nellas
Arien V (00:26:10): Stubba#
Varda Valar (00:26:28): Stybba I think, ok

Varda Valar (00:30:13): Sure seems like it
Arien V (00:30:21): Nmrodel
Varda Valar (00:30:26): Be a sneaky strategy :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:30:57): Hmm, let's avoid the N
then... Lorie- no, Luthi- no...
Varda Valar (00:31:16): hehe
Varda Valar (00:31:54): (We used three N words so far)
Arien V (00:32:04): alphabeth game instead ?) :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:32:15): No, hang on, give me a
moment, I'll find something.
Varda Valar (00:32:32): Three is not that bad. :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:33:04): Lalaith!
Varda Valar (00:33:20): Lalaith, that works. :)

Varda Valar (00:39:54): I thought you meant meldo :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:39:57): Rhosgobel.
Varda Valar (00:39:59): as in "friend"
Arien V (00:40:18): meldo works as well but some how
three leters sliped hehe
Varda Valar (00:40:36): Have to watch out for those
Varda Valar (00:40:46): Lemba
Arien V (00:41:27): Lembas ? did your s find the hole
Varda Valar (00:41:27): (Not sure there even is a
singular of lembas. Should I say lembas?)
Varda Valar (00:41:42): lembas
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:42:02): Well, as a type of bread,
it might be something like wheat or rice.
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:42:04): No plural.
Arien V (00:42:30): Sirion
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:43:40): *passes on the N to the
next person* Nain
Varda Valar (00:43:59): Narvi
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:44:37): ..I thought you said Navi

Ar-Pharazon-V (00:49:04): And then won't load.
Varda Valar (00:49:07): Arien, try posting tht in
Ar-Pharazon-V (00:49:17): I think it's an url in the

Varda Valar (00:49:38): Just tried it too, and it
Varda Valar (00:49:53): Right - we can see it in the

Varda Valar (01:06:52): Threw me there. What's Ros,
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:07:55): I recall it's the topic of
a Tolkien section in the History, which could work as a topic for us :)
But as it is mostly a suffix rather than a real name I'll just switch
Varda Valar (01:08:18): Sounds intriguing. Just
wanted to know.
Varda Valar (01:08:27): Sulimo
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:08:40): oliphaunt

Varda Valar (01:22:52): and I'm going to stop
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:22:56): Alright.
Varda Valar (01:23:08): That was fun. :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:23:12): Couple of flashgames before I head into Storm
Varda Valar (01:23:18): cool
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:25:05): http://www.kongregate.com/games/aegisgrim/anti-chess
is the first! A chess game with various opponent options, as well as
difficulties, but the object is to lose. Move as you normally would,
but if you can take an enemy piece, you have to.
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:25:25): *objective
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:26:08): http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/one_more_flight
is a 2d flight simulator, click to keep yourself in the air. Avoid
obstacles, collect stars, get to the end of each level.
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:31:32): And for the third, http://www.kongregate.com/games/Trickysheep/anikas-odyssey,
an atmospheric point and click adventure game (I do love such games!)
where you play a young girl trying to rescue her stuffed bunny from the
giant bird that stole it.
Ar-Pharazon-V (01:31:34): Enjoy!
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:10:44): Blizzard gaming!
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:14:25): Heroes of the Storm: Level 204 now.
This week's brawl was a garden of terror map, with random heroes,
needing to win 2 rounds by collecting 100 seeds before the other team
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:15:50): Hearthstone: Bit more xp going, some
tough quests... double gold still applies for quest rewards. This
week's brawl was one where every minion you play gets charge and taunt.
Can do a lot with a deck full of cheap minions :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:21:36): WoW:
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:22:29): A new pet gotten from
Icecrown Citadel! Wicked Soul from heroic difficulty Lich King. Now I
just need the normal one and I'm done, but we'll get the third of our
part the heroic one first before we switch to normal.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:22:34): *our party
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:27:08): Worked a bit more on heroic
difficulty raid, but also cleared most of normal again. I got some good
new equipment pieces.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:27:35): Including a cloak and a
headpiece I can't really use yet until I get tier gloves, but that's a
matter of time ;)
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:29:17): This week's weekly is/was
timewalks, burning crusade. Not only the normal 5 timewalks for quest,
which got me some nice gear, and enough badges to buy the 2 items from
the vendor that have been turned into toys, but also the new Black
Temple timewalk raid. Lots of fun! Easier than it used to be in the
original version, but then we had a good raidgroup. Cleared the place
in 3 hours.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:30:07): Got a few more marks of
honor from world quests, but no new pet master fights. Oh well!
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:30:38): Oh! Also related to world
quests, I got the cloudwing hippogryph mount from the paragon supply
bag for Azsuna rep, very nice birdy :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:35:50): Finally, continued
appearance hunts in BC raids. I decided to leave Sunwell Plateau for
now, since Magister's Terrace is enough for one day and that makes 7
days for 8 locations... but I'll get to it later.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:35:56): Been getting new stuff all
over the place, too.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:37:30): Not much in the way of set
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:38:09): And that's my report for
Varda Valar (02:38:12): (Quick mention that we have 6
people playing tebletop game, Fate system, downstairs. Having way too
much fun. :)
Varda Valar (02:38:29): Thank you, Phar!
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:41:13): So, you folks going to
watch Game of Thrones, or is it not your thing? :)
Varda Valar (02:44:37): I've never watched it.
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:44:41): alright
Varda Valar (02:44:51): Not sure we even get it here
Varda Valar (02:45:07): Have you watched it?
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:45:21): Wouldn't know. It's popular
though, and season 7 starts tonight. And yeah, I have. It's pretty
good, if you get past certain elements.
Varda Valar (02:46:07): Good to know
Varda Valar (02:46:30): Bunch of gamers in front of
our TV anyway. :)
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:46:44): hehe
Varda Valar (02:57:49): Namarie! See you in the
Ar-Pharazon-V (02:58:03): Namarie!
