his tree use, once friendly then as fuel.

Yes! Very good comic. Anyone interested in the
overall lore will want to read it, though the ending does leave a lot
to be expected.

enter the eves of fangorn in entwash vale :-)
In other news, on the forum rp story, we
do have a
post made. Feel free to add yours when you can.
For the discussion
Morwe handed us a link in the Forum about Avar elves
and I kept surfing from there, running across a comment that never
occurred to me.
It was said that JRRT based the Mt. Doom temptation
of Frodo section on the Lord's Prayer.
So, looking it up in the Letters of JRR Tolkien, it
shows where that slightly incorrect bit managed to go online.
Look up Lord's Prayer in the index if you like, for
all the details, but I'll try to summarize.
He was trying to answer some questions he received
in snail mail.
He did say that the scene occurred the way it did
due to the situation, the characteristics and morality of each
character, and how the story was going.
I should probably grab the quote, but that's the
He was answering the person who was asking if it had
to do with a Bible passage, the type of temptation.
He said that rather than the Corinthians passage, it
was closer to the Lord's Prayer meaning of temptation.
He said that Frodo could not destroy the Ring, and
it was already a known fact at the beginning. Gandalf commented on it,
and Aragorn knew.
He was not expected to have to do it alone.
Aragorn knew what had happened when he told everyone
to praise them with great praise.
What Frodo did was what no one else could. He
brought it right to the fires of its making.
The only way he could have destroyed it was by
claiming it and stepping off into the fire. He would have done so, but
due to his previous action
of pity for Gollum,
he did not have to.
He had his chance at redemption.
He started out with a weak character as Smeagol, not
a strong character like Frodo, and could not overcome.
Even given extra chances. He should have been able
to keep his caring for Frodo even with Sam's jealousy.
Selfishness won out, because of character flaw.
Pity by Frodo saved him, by letting Gollum be
present and accidentally saving the day. He lacked the Fellowship at
The temptation was too great for Frodo, and it was
but as in the Lord's Prayer, he was aided at the
last when he went as far as he could.
So that was kind of cool. I recommend reading
it on your own sometime, not very long, several spots.
That brought on another thought.
Like to hear your thoughts on.
Sam. Why was he able to give the One
to Frodo, even after wearing it a while? More than one reason.
Give it a shot.
fladrifv has left the room.
Not very ambitious lad when it came to personal
reward, meant it was very difficult for the Ring to get a hold on him.
he was fiercely loyal to Frodo.
The Ring tried to grab Sam. It showed Sam as
making the whole world into his garden, and all others would be aiding
But he would not be able to tend such a large
garden with his own hands!
Any other suggestions to add to that?
Bregalad in LotRO comments:
a testimony to the surprising
Just being a hobbit was part of why Sam could
Fangorn-(Valar) commented that he didn't want
Gandalf to turn him into a frog. ;-)
And he did not have it for very long. He also
took it out of loyalty to the cause alone, and used it as an instrument
of bravery for as long as he had it.
Right. It was a short time. Not the long time
that Bilbo, Gollum, and Frodo had for being taken over.
How about the way that Sam was raised?
Hence the lack of ambition for personal power.
dad would probably be very upset if he became an immortal tyrant ;-)
Aye to that too. :-)
Just thinking that it was a bad thing helped.
How about his family's relationship with
Very good, very loyal to each other.
How about their stations? Not just buddies and
neighbors, which they were.
I've always thought of that as a bit awkward,
It's not like Frodo was actually better than
We don't have that now. But the friendship
across their stations would be one reason for the eventual change in a
number of countries from the belief in born privilege.
Some places still have it.
JRRT wanted to show that even though he too was
an officer with a yeoman, he often felt his yeoman was the better man.
That's very good :-)
In Frodo's time, they had a monarchy, classes.
Kings pretty well had to be killed out of
office. Not a comfortable situation on either side.
did a similar thing with Eowyn, showing that women could have the heart
and ability to do things that they were not allowed to do.
He did a lot of sideways comments in the
relationships. Very gentle.
He also showed that a very good man as a
monarch could do immense good. And the reverse.
was in the Conspiracy. After being caught, he felt guilt and that added
to his being even more loyal to Frodo vs other friends.
Sam's father had been working for Bilbo. This
had gone on for a long time previous to Sam's ever meeting Frodo. It
was the Way Things Were.
Then Sam was entrusted by the greats of his
world to aid Frodo, at Rivendell.
That's pretty much all I can think of right
It's an interesting subject. Sam has a lot of
factors going into his makeup.
Any other comments, suggestions, plans to make
a forum rp post? :-)
Oh, and the forum has shoutbox for our running
chat for fun.
Plans, sure, always plans.

It started to raiin just now, yay! Cool it down.
Only 97F at the moment. Not as bad as, say,
Still too hot for me.
And it's cooler here, but still too hot :-)
Hey, that's summer for you. Beats permafrost.
I suppose that's true!
Right. Personal gaming report!
, 3 platformers of
is the awkwardly named third game, use an electrical core to enable
devices that send the core to its destination. Timing needed!
And collect cogwheels on the way!
No Diablo 3
this week, waiting for the new season. Though I should store some stuff
on the other characters that will have been sent in the mail by now.
Still levelling on, most of the classes halfway to the next level now.
This week's tavern brawl is a repeat of an old one, whereby you get 30
raven idols which you can use to discover spells or minions.
((side note .. i got a working microp;hone for
teamspeak now again))
I got a bit lucky by discovering a bunch of Inspire
minions which worked together nicely.
Grats Arien :-)
Heroes of the Storm:
Simply going forward as usual, too. No new levels, but Lunara's getting
close to level 9.
Getting used to the new features of the guardian and
feral druid specs, and removed features. Having no more mark of the
wild after so many years is going to take some getting used to. I keep
wanting to use it when I notice I have no buffs.
Made use of the feature that gives you spec-specific
transmogrification outfits, and have started filling out the wardrobe.
Now when we get new loot in raids, we have to check
if someone wants it for the wardrobe :-)
Garrisons are different too now. No more gold
missions from town hall or shipyard. Followers with extra gold bonus
have gotten an extra garrison resource bonus instead, but I hardly use
GR anymore because I have no more use for shipyard missions without the
So when it comes to the shipyard, I only send out
the oil mission now. Seeing if I can hit the maximum amount of oil at
And for the wardrobe, I've made progress as well. I
made a list of old instances and raids, and will be slowly working
through them to get all the loot my druid main can use for the
wardrobe. Will be a long time, but it's fun to get more stuff like that
I finally decided on a transmogrification for my
upcoming feral artifact too, a caster dagger appearance that drops in
the raidfinder version of Heart of Fear as well as Terrace of Eternal
Spring. Unfortunately I screwed up this reset because I forgot to use
caster loot-specification for a chance at getting them, but if I
remember that for next times it's just a matter of time before I get
one of the two :-)
And finally, the patch nerfed Hellfire Citadel raid,
enemies and bosses have 40% less health and deal 50% less damage.. or
was it the other way around?
Anyway, clearing the last few bosses on heroic mode
was silly easy now, so we tried Mythic instead.
Got the first boss down in 2 tries, and achievement
But the next one is still a bit more difficult.
It didn't help that we were 5 people short, since
mythic is always tuned for 20 :-)
Oh, almost forgot.. been working on a Grand
Adventure achievement to fight tamers using only 2 pets (and a passive
elekk plushie as third) and it's going well! Done all tamers except the
ones in Draenor and Darkmoon Faire, which will take a few weeks to
And I got the achievement for the doomsayers that
came with the patch, by talking to them until I had all 12 different
Normally you can only do that once every 30 minutes,
but if you die the cooldown resets. So there was a group up by one
doomsayer near the stormwind cathedral, that resurrected people who
were going for it.
So I got the achievement in a pretty short time :-)
And that's all my news for this week!
right ^^ thanks Phari .. thats the que for me
.. time for bed here :-)
Namarie all :-)
Arien V (AriehnV) has left the room.
Oh, and for the Cookie
Clicker players around, I
just got word that the latest update has been brought out today. I'd
put mine on halt until the update was here (because I was close to the
next ascension) but I had made a habit of checking the creator's tumblr
now and then to check for progress.
So I can continue on that tomorrow once again :-)
Now, for some Heroes
of the Storm gaming!
actual gaming, not reporting :-)
saving and sending transcript!
well this is odd
If I just open the file directly in my browser, no
If I open the *sent* file in my browser, timestamps.
If I download the sent file and open it in my
browser, the non-timestamp version again.
So.. ehr.. good luck with that.
So try downloading it and opening it directly,
rather than from the mail.
