Before-meeting
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
ArPharazonV: Aiya
VardaValar1: Aiya Phar :-)
ArPharazonV: Still raiding, but thought I'd pop in anyway.
VardaValar1: Same - gaming, AIM so I won't be late. :-)
VardaValar1: Happy hunting!
ArPharazonV: Thanks :-)
ArPharazonV: Trying to get our *second* Blackhand kill is proving a bit more difficult than expected today.
VardaValar1: Different group?
ArPharazonV: Few different people who weren't there last time, but overall the same.
ArPharazonV: Fight can go wrong very easily.
ArPharazonV: And losing people before phase 3 usually doesn't promise anything good.
VardaValar1: too true!
AriehnV has entered the room.
AriehnV: aiya all :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
ArPharazonV: And I didn't even have to find you in WoW.
VardaValar1: Aiya Arien :-)
AriehnV: :-)
VardaValar1: For some reason everything happens at meeting time, heh.
AriehnV: whats up?
ArPharazonV: Hmm, indeed, I'm about to do an apexis quest with someone and then possibly a 5-man instance afterwards... but I'll make time for here ;-)
VardaValar1: Peek in on us now and then, Phar :-)
ArPharazonV: Of course!

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: Thank you for coming. :-)
VardaValar1: I see other members in LotRO. Tulkas is one.
VardaValar1: Elladan and Fangorn
VardaValar1: Don't see Indis now, but she was on earlier
VardaValar1: It's been raining heavily here, but sunshine right now, thanks Arien. :-)
VardaValar1: Any news from you?
AriehnV: hehe a pleasure
AriehnV: sounds like the weather here
ArPharazonV: Any problem with tornados and floods and the like over there, Varda?
AriehnV: no news otherwise i fear
VardaValar1: Flooding all around us, but not on us.
VardaValar1: Tornadoes not right here.
VardaValar1: We picked a house on high ground on purpose.
ArPharazonV: Ah, great.
VardaValar1: Some leaks we've been fixing, otherwise fine.
VardaValar1: Arien, are you keeping dry?
VardaValar1: I think Arien is busy with her rp group.
AriehnV: och aye
AriehnV: no i am here i am following while :-)
VardaValar1: I had to leave LotRO. "Too many requests, slow down." to quote. :-)

VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: Tolkien Site:
VardaValar1: New art from the Bohemian Weasel-(T):
VardaValar1: "This is no mine. It is a tomb." Boromir
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Boromir/soni-topps-lotrm 2-115_Boromir.jpg

VardaValar1: Also, trying out a solid black line under the Valar Guild gif on the community pages instead of a black block under the letters on a green background
VardaValar1: See if you like it or are at least ok with it:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/guild/news.html
VardaValar1: Had a complaint from a member about the black block on green.
VardaValar1: Maybe that will bring it together better with the black frame.
ArPharazonV: Now, I don't remember the old one.
AriehnV: i like the drawings :-)
VardaValar1: Trying to find one that still has the green background. Some with no long line background at all that I was going to add it to.
VardaValar1: O good, Arien. :-) I thought that was very much like Sean Bean on the Boromir picture.
VardaValar1: Games Site has new news.
VardaValar1: (I could change the color back, take some quick coding.)
VardaValar1: (let you see)
ArPharazonV: No need to go through all that trouble :-)
AriehnV: its okay like that
AriehnV: i wouldnt change it
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: aiya
VardaValar1: hah, remembered how it was, switched. Try that
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/guild/news.html
VardaValar1: Aiya Indis :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
karakedi25: am about to go into a densly populated orc cave so will be only partly here
ArPharazonV: ...No, still don't see the difference.
VardaValar1: I had a quick fix to patch it back
VardaValar1: reload
AriehnV: aiya Indis
ArPharazonV: Oh, the green patches at the side?
VardaValar1: Yes
VardaValar1: Now go to Membership for the solid black
VardaValar1: The complaint was that it had green patches on the sides.
ArPharazonV: Aha.
VardaValar1: I've seen both ways too many times to even have an opinion anymore. :-)
ArPharazonV: hehe, I find it hard to have an opinion about it either
VardaValar1: Needed fresh eyes.
VardaValar1: Try it with frames on. Maybe the black helps bring that together.
VardaValar1: Although some people even complain about frames saying it makes it look too old-fashioned.
VardaValar1: Can't say no one let you folks have input. :-)
AriehnV: ah well
ArPharazonV: I suppose I find the all black a bit more depressing :P
VardaValar1: I'd make the top bar all green but the letters aren't on a transparent background. The font doesn't seem available now, just some that are close.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Arien
ArPharazonV: That's fine, I can live with it :-)
ArPharazonV: ... am I missing lines from Arien?
VardaValar1: No, you're not. I'm switching back and forth too fast.
VardaValar1: Phar said the black was depressing.
VardaValar1: a bit more
ArPharazonV: I think you're still switching :P
VardaValar1: ArPharazon-V: I suppose I find the all black a bit more depressing
ArPharazonV: Again, you're quoting me in the same room ;-)
VardaValar1: Arien V: i wouldnt change it
ArPharazonV: Ah, see, that's new :-)
VardaValar1: So one vote for each. :-)
VardaValar1: ok

VardaValar1: On to Gaming
VardaValar1: From Eonwe's work on the Games Site:
VardaValar1: une starts tomorrow. See what's going on This Month in WoW.
VardaValar1: WoW:
VardaValar1: June starts tomorrow. See what's going on This Month in WoW.
VardaValar1: PTR patch notes were updated.
VardaValar1: Starcraft 2:
VardaValar1: Check out the notes for Legacy of the Void Beta Patch 2.5.2.
VardaValar1: Meet the new Terran unit in town, the Liberator.
VardaValar1: Heroes of the Storm:
VardaValar1: Don't forget, Heroes of the Storm launches June 02nd.
VardaValar1: No LotRO news mentioned, but Hobnangians started today.
ArPharazonV: New Hearthstone season starts one day before!
VardaValar1: Chickenball  [LotRO]
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar. :-)
AriehnV: chickenball?
AriehnV: sounds interesting ..
ArPharazonV: Sounds delicious.
VardaValar1: True :-)
VardaValar1: Teams form up on various fields next to each other. Each team tries to make the chicken go to the opposite side by kicking mainly.
VardaValar1: Get chicken pets and such fun stuff from it.
VardaValar1: Once a month for one weekend.
ArPharazonV: Why'd the chicken cross the field?
ArPharazonV: Animal abuse!
VardaValar1: People are working to get their high level alts through all the Osgiliath stuff.
VardaValar1: Too right. :-) Fowl play.
ArPharazonV: Hah.
karakedi25: oh hobnanigans. What a pest. Every time one logs on, one gets the dratted quest.
VardaValar1: We get a quest for Hobnangians and a map every time we log on or level up. Does get old. You can sell the maps or trash them. One guy collected them until he hit a stack of 50 and quit collecting.
VardaValar1: We have another LotRO update maybe in two weeks.
karakedi25: sell them for 7c each
VardaValar1: Aye :-)
VardaValar1: High copper item. ;-)
VardaValar1: The new raids are interesting and become very hard, just as people requested.
VardaValar1: Any other comments, suggestions, request to turn the page red, etc?
VardaValar1: *turns page red-orange*
karakedi25: in general U16 is very good, and u16.1 2 will have some good fixes
VardaValar1: I've enjoyed U16 Ashes of Osgiliath, kept quite busy. Lots of new areas and stuff to do. Dailies that keep one on one's toes.
VardaValar1: Imbuement system seems promising.
VardaValar1: Don't like the idea that everyone needs to put on what amounts to tanking gear as near as they can, instead of focusing on their specialties, but not abnormal.
VardaValar1: (Reprogrammed the line to all black again.)
VardaValar1: (Really don't want the whole page black.)
VardaValar1: If no one has further comment on anything?
VardaValar1: (note to self, Languages is showing up without frames, fix.)

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: Eonwe and I are trying to decide whether he or I should be posting next. Probably six of one, half a dozen of the other.
VardaValar1: in the forum rp.

[LotRO]
karakedi25: yes, the need for very high morale for t2 instances is problematic, and so is the expense of imbuing to max level, especially for those with multiple alts
VardaValar1: Expense as in a whole lot of time and collecting essences and barters?
karakedi25: leveling the tiers
VardaValar1: Ton of marks and medallions, aye
VardaValar1: or other barters
VardaValar1: Very time-consuming
VardaValar1: ok, on to
top

VardaValar1: Tolkien (continued):
VardaValar1: In the stories, the characters have to continue on even when they are exhausted, injured, etc and just want to quit. This is another form of bravery. Can we think of any examples, maybe from Lord of the Rings?
ArPharazonV: Frodo and Sam at Mount Doom, so close to their goal... to the point that Sam has to carry Frodo.
ArPharazonV: It doesn't help that the Ring gets more tiring the closer they get.
VardaValar1: It seems to become heavier, more mind-invading, maybe even burning from the marks.
VardaValar1: How about Gimli? He found a place that he just didn't want to enter, no way, no way.
ArPharazonV: Yep, but if the elf dared it.. ;-)
ArPharazonV: As for another example, Gandalf had a similar thing with Moria, which is why he wanted to go up first.
VardaValar1: True. He knew the balrog was in there as well as a pretty awful, dark maze full of monsters and pits.
VardaValar1: How about Boromir?
ArPharazonV: He wasn't happy with the plan at all, and rather wanted to take the entire party to Gondor.
ArPharazonV: But he didn't survive the split-up.
VardaValar1: He could have let Merry and Pippin be caught. He couldn't possibly save them vs that many orcs.
ArPharazonV: Or are you talking about fighting on with a bunch of arrows stuck in him?
ArPharazonV: And there's that.
VardaValar1: and that too. :-)
VardaValar1: Speaking of Merry and Pippin. They jumped out in front of the orcs, luring them from Frodo. Then they had to live with their choice. Were they really expecting that they could be rescued?
AriehnV: i dont know but they were fast and small#
AriehnV: and used that to their ad vantage
ArPharazonV: And made a few efforts to escape, one of which succeeded.
AriehnV: whether they expected it or even did think of any consequences .. i somehow doubtt that
ArPharazonV: Certainly not the type to give up!
ArPharazonV: And no, I don't think that came to mind when they protected Frodo.
VardaValar1: True. So maybe they were counting on themselves. They kept on trying, even though we know Merry was in bad shape.
VardaValar1: Frodo needs us, we're going! Great hobbit attitude that we see quite a few times.
ArPharazonV: Quite selfless.
VardaValar1: Thus the Ring couldn't find an ambitious self-serving grip on them.
VardaValar1: How about Aragorn? Did he have to persevere against anything?
ArPharazonV: He certainly had plenty of fights to persevere in, and never thought of turning back.
VardaValar1: True
VardaValar1: He had to take a tiny armor to the Black Gate to lure the whole might of Mordor to give Frodo time, not knowing if Frodo was still alive.
VardaValar1: He was most likely going to die, his friends and loyal soldiers with him, and never get married or rule the kingdom any longer, without knowing if it would do any good.
AriehnV: he certainly risked it
AriehnV: but he knew that the stake had to be high
ArPharazonV: He did what was necessary, as they all did. Impressive.
VardaValar1: Right. They felt what they were doing was worth incredible risk, hardship, and certain death.
VardaValar1: What about Legolas? Did he have to persevere against anything?
VardaValar1: besides Gimli's remarks.
AriehnV: well he had the temptation of leaving for Valinor when he came down to Belfalas
AriehnV: it was temptation to him after he heard the sea
ArPharazonV: Poor guy was forced to visit some silly cave under Helm's Deep, but he still did it anyway!
AriehnV: (not sure if i got the name of the region right but you know i dont do names ;-) )
VardaValar1: He had a tough time going through the long caves of Moria.
AriehnV: and the crossing of the paths of the dead for both Gimli and Legolas
VardaValar1: Glittering Caves of Aglarond, same name we use for our art site. :-)
VardaValar1: He thought Galadriel was foretelling their deaths, that he would die if he went with Aragorn to battle the Corsairs. He went anyway.
ArPharazonV: He would've ended up in Valinor either way!
VardaValar1: by way of Mandos for who knows how long.
VardaValar1: We mentioned Frodo. Did we actually mention Sam?
ArPharazonV: I named them together, but Sam has his own moments too.
VardaValar1: Aye, you did mention them together.
ArPharazonV: He wasn't going to let Frodo get away on his own, even though he knew that joining him would put him in danger.
VardaValar1: He drug along his pots and pans into Mordor, despite the extra weight, still hoping.
ArPharazonV: Nice example.
karakedi25: namarie folks
VardaValar1: He didn't skewer Gollum but tried to put up with him.
karakedi25 has left the room.
VardaValar1: Namarie Indis, happy hunting.
ArPharazonV: Namarie Indis!
AriehnV: Namarie Indis!
AriehnV: i think he did try to befriend him once sort of didnt he?
AriehnV: in Ithilien
AriehnV: asking him to hunt a rabbit and bring herbs i think
AriehnV: and then invited him for dinner
VardaValar1: Trying to get him to be part of the group.
AriehnV: aye
ArPharazonV: Gollum was never a very social creature.
VardaValar1: Gollum was a great perseverer though.
ArPharazonV: Persevered for 500 years.
ArPharazonV: Not many hobbits can do that.
VardaValar1: Frodo might have. :-)

VardaValar1: That's the whole Fellowship. Let's switch to After-meeting.
VardaValar1: *taps hammer on the glass table, very carefully*
VardaValar1: *no cracks, whew!*
top

VardaValar1: After-meeting:
VardaValar1: Free chat. :-)
AriehnV: Thankies
ArPharazonV: Guess I'll give my gaming news!
VardaValar1: Cool
AriehnV: I ve got a smaller report as well
ArPharazonV: I'll let Arien go first while I gather up a few flashgames :-)
AriehnV: all right thanks Phari :-)

AriehnV: Right i met up witrh Sauron Vin Eve on Monday last week
AriehnV: he was kind enough to give me some assistance in killing a baddie I had trouble with at the end of an Epic Arc mission storyline :-)
AriehnV: This brought that character to enough standing to be able to do level 2 missions for that faction
AriehnV: so more isk, more reputation but also higher repair bills ;P)
AriehnV: ;-)
AriehnV: following that we carried on to rid the universe of a few pirates at anomalies in space , and explored another site wth our probe scanners and he beat me in finding it :-)
AriehnV: Unfortunately we didnt manage to find something there but it was gvood fun and experience
AriehnV: This concludes my report from Eve online

ArPharazonV: Flashgaming!
ArPharazonV: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/down_is_up is one of the puzzle platformers I played this week. Not too difficult, though I'm not sure how far it goes, and it doesn't appear to save... who knows, I might've been right before the end.
ArPharazonV: Ah, what do you know, I just reached the end while trying it out again ;-) Allright, not too difficult.
AriehnV: hehe
ArPharazonV: http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/colourblind is another platformer, a bit longer and more difficult, where you have to mess around with colored paint, blocks that appear and disappear if you're a certain color, etc.
ArPharazonV: Let'ssee.. some promising new games on Kongregate, but haven't really tried them out yet.
ArPharazonV: But I'll give them anyway, and you can try them if you want!
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/GoodyPundit/egg-knight has you freeing your troops from eggs you find, and use them to fight the dark army. Seems to have some nice types and upgrades for your army. Comments tell me that the combat system can be a bit bad though ;-)
ArPharazonV: and http://www.kongregate.com/games/ploska4/the-green-kingdom which is a rather cutesy RTS game where you build bases and set units on a controlled attack path. Is a bit like a mutual tower defense game, I'd say.
ArPharazonV: And that'll do for flashgaming.

ArPharazonV: Still playing Hearthstone, gotten a few cards I didn't have yet, which is always nice. Classes now hanging around half-level, so still a way to go to the next.
ArPharazonV: New season starting... well, for me, now already, I guess. I'll take a look at it in an hour or so!

ArPharazonV: Played a bunch of Heroes of the Storm as well! Overall player level is 7 now, with my first hero, Valla, having reached 6 today, giving her a new mount and color, as well as a new portrait for me. Not sure if I'll leave her at 6 and buy some new cheap hero, or continue with her until I get a quest for something else.
ArPharazonV: Daily quests have unlocked for me now, I've kept up so far. Not sure if I'll continue to do that, it just takes a lot of time. But maybe I can combine them when I have multiple.
ArPharazonV: Oh, and I said last week that Valla was a first hero for free, but apparently that's only for people who pre-ordered the Diablo 3 expansion, or played it from the start. If you haven't, you're restricted to the free heroes that change every week, until you buy one with the gold you earn (or real money, if you really want to).

ArPharazonV: Speaking of! Played some Diablo 3 as well. Got my seasonal monk to level 39 now, almost at 40; which is enough for me to bring up the difficulty next time.

ArPharazonV: And for WoW... gotten a new pet, Sky-Bo, from the daily quest you can get from Blingtrons, which was quite lucky :-) No luck with the pets from the old raids we visit every monday.
ArPharazonV: Gotten all the legendary quest runes from Blackrock Foundry at last, which got my ring upgraded to 715. Don't have the legendary follower yet, because I need to kill Blackhand for that... and alas, we didn't get our second kill today. Maybe next week!
ArPharazonV: Or I might do it on LFR difficulty, if I make the time for it.
ArPharazonV: Also did a bunch of questing in Talador, doing the alternate questline for the artillery outpost building, after switching it from the mage tower. Got one short questline to go until I'm done with the zone.
ArPharazonV: Annnd yep, that's my gaming for this week!

VardaValar1: Don't guess you can run into any of the other Valarite D3 players? Different server?
ArPharazonV: Well I usually only play for a few hours on... saturday afternoon, or something, and I do think that the Valarites are all on the US server.
VardaValar1: Sounds right
AriehnV: congratulations on your achievements :-)
VardaValar1: Aye, you've been busy!
ArPharazonV: Heh, thanks.
AriehnV: for daytime gaming it is tough for me with my work hours
ArPharazonV: Progress is being made!
ArPharazonV: Well, weekends are good for that, depending on your job.
AriehnV: Phari usually comes on when i am about to go to bed or the other way round :-)
VardaValar1: Rough timing
AriehnV: Thats where it gets tough i fear i hardly get a sunday off today was the exception
VardaValar1: Glad you got a break today. :-)
ArPharazonV: Indeed!
AriehnV: but bed time now .. and maybe one time we ll manage to do something together with alts maybe :-)
ArPharazonV: Maybe!
AriehnV: Namarie for now !
ArPharazonV: And Namarie :-)
VardaValar1: Namarie
AriehnV has left the room.
VardaValar1 has left the room.
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: oops, wrong button pushed.
ArPharazonV: Aiyata :-)
ArPharazonV: I made sure to save, then.
VardaValar1: Think I'd better head out for the night.
VardaValar1: Very good idea
VardaValar1: Good night, Phar. :-)
VardaValar1 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
