ArPharazonV: Got Varda's email?
AriehnV: aiya
AriehnV: uh .l. i am not sure . cant remember #
ArPharazonV: It's unlikely that I'll make it back into town soon enough to chair the meeting, although there is a chance that we'll make it home before the meeting is over. Eonwe has a great rp post up if you haven't already read it, and is also terrific about putting up Gaming news.
ArPharazonV: (is from the email)
AriehnV: ah she sent it this morning so i was at work then
AriehnV: i had a ten hour shift and am shattered :-\
ArPharazonV: Aw. Well, looks like it's just us anyway, so we can keep it short-ish?
AriehnV: yeah looks like it yeah i guess so

AriehnV: Elen sila lumenn omentielvo!
AriehnV: A star shines upon the hour of our meeting
AriehnV: Membership news: We are here :-)
AriehnV: Eonwe and Varda cant make it today unfortunatly , although Eonwe has put up a new roleplaying post :-)
ArPharazonV: I invited Gilraen, but no response so far.
AriehnV: And put gaming news on the website
AriehnV: Varda is still out of town and couldnt make it back in time to the meeting
AriehnV: I hope that she ' ll make it to coming soon anyway :-)
AriehnV: oh membership news
AriehnV: I ll be on holiday from Wednesday onwards to 10th of may
AriehnV: :-)
ArPharazonV: Enjoy! Where to?
AriehnV: I ll be visiting my family in Germany
AriehnV: my parents and my sister
AriehnV: Bruce is coming along of course :-)
ArPharazonV: Fun.
ArPharazonV: Special occasion?
AriehnV: no unfortunately not
AriehnV: just a dutiful daughter ;-)
ArPharazonV: That's a good thing!
AriehnV: well my sister is still not that well and my parents are not getting younger and with my sister not well i dont see it coming they ll be able to visit here soon
AriehnV: so i have to go and see them instead ^^
ArPharazonV: That works as an occasion.
AriehnV: but anyhow it means i wont be able to be here next sunday for the meeting
AriehnV: do you have any membership news?
ArPharazonV: Nah. Just hoping Varda will be here next week then, or it could be.. very very quiet.
AriehnV: ((unfortunately it means also that i was landed with some very long shifts in a row which is why i am quite tired and if it shows in the meeting i appologize beforehand)
AriehnV: yeah I hope so as well
ArPharazonV: It'll be fine.

AriehnV: so Web news :

AriehnV: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/18872051/new-world-of-warcraft-short-story-apocrypha-4-24 -2015
ArPharazonV: thanks :-)
AriehnV: THATS the link for the warcraft story
ArPharazonV: first link worked too though, I think?
AriehnV: ah good
ArPharazonV: and if you want more, http://us.battle.net/wow/en/game/lore/savage-world/apocrypha is the direct link to the story itself ;-)
AriehnV: very nice .. thanks Phara :-)
AriehnV: seems like its Arrakoa based
AriehnV: should be interesting
AriehnV: carrying on with gaming newsz
AriehnV: (note: last week's news) Diablo 3Patch 2.2.1 is on the PTR.
AriehnV: Hearthstone: Now Open: Blackrock Mountain: Blackwing Lair.
AriehnV: Heroes of the Storm: It's official: Heroes of the Storm launches June 02.
ArPharazonV: Ooh. Guess there's no avoiding it now, if I want to play from launch day ;-)
AriehnV: eh i guess so :-)
AriehnV: its nice graphics in HotS
AriehnV: that was it and appologies if i copied a line from last week
AriehnV: Unfortunately my brain is not really working :-\
ArPharazonV: Looks fine, nothing I recognize from last week :-)
AriehnV: cool :-)
AriehnV: i think thats it for the official part
AriehnV: do you have any personal gaming news or comments to the gaming news?
ArPharazonV: Oh, I usually do that in the aftermeeting. Got something busy on the side to give full detail now, but I can join you in some Tolkien first :-)
top

AriehnV: do you have idea for Tolkien?
ArPharazonV: Not really, unless you want to do trivia, or maybe riddle-trivia if your brain is up for it.
ArPharazonV: Or do you have a "moment"?
AriehnV: i fear not quite up to riddling :-\
ArPharazonV: Anything else in mind? Eonwe's post?
AriehnV: i havent read it yhet but i found something for a moment
AriehnV: This little gem :-)
AriehnV: *Upon the hearth the fire is red, beneath the roof there is a bed
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: aiya
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
karakedi25: sort of not really here--in a lotro instance
AriehnV: But not yet wearyh are our feet still round the corner we may meet
AriehnV: Aiya talking aBOUT meeting eh?
AriehnV: :-)
AriehnV: Eonwe has put up a new rp post Indis
AriehnV: I was just putting in a short Tolkien moment Indis
AriehnV: since my brain is not really up for anything else
ArPharazonV: You could add LotRO stuff if you want1
karakedi25: is Varda out of town again?
ArPharazonV: Yup.
AriehnV: yeah she was still travelling
AriehnV: she thought she d make it before the end of the meeting
AriehnV: and yes if you have some LotrO news , here is your chance :-)
karakedi25: new update to be out in early May.
karakedi25: hard to talk while fighting
AriehnV: stay alive Indis :-)
AriehnV: you can tell us after
ArPharazonV: Hmm. Is that song from when they're travelling through the Shire?
AriehnV: yes
ArPharazonV: Tolkien liked his travel songs.
ArPharazonV: I expect he was fun to take walks into nature with!

AriehnV: "Upon the hearth the fire is red , beneath the roof there is a bed. But not yet weary are our feet, still round the corner we may meetr a sudden tree or standing stone that none have seen but we alone.
AriehnV: Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! let them pass!
AriehnV: Hill and water under sky, pass them by! pass them by!
AriehnV: Still round the corner there may wait a new road or secret gate,#
AriehnV: and though we pass them by today tomorrow we may come this way and take the hidden jpaths that run towards the moon or to the sun.
ArPharazonV: secret gate? bunch of trespassers!
AriehnV: Apple, thorn and nut and soe, let them go! let them go!
AriehnV: Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well!
AriehnV: Home is behind, the woarld ahead and there are many paths to tread throuigh shadows to the edge of night until the stars are all alight.
AriehnV: Then world behind and home ahead we ll wander back to home and bed.
ArPharazonV: Ah! The part they picked for Return of the King's movie.
AriehnV: jjMist and twighlight, cloude and shade away shall fade! away shall fade!
AriehnV: Fire and lamps and meand and bread, and then to bed! and then to bed!
AriehnV: The song ended "
AriehnV: End of quote :-)

AriehnV: It foreshades the journey ahead a bit , doesnt it?
ArPharazonV: Well it feels like it could be a bit generic, but some parts do match up well.
ArPharazonV: The travelling through the shadows until they fade away, for example, could go for any journey into the unknown with unknown dangers. But it works with Sauron's literal shadow :-)
ArPharazonV: It works so well, it even worked with Faramir's charge against Osgiliath in the movie!
AriehnV: indeeed or one thinks of the Barrowdowns
AriehnV: lots of mist there eh?
ArPharazonV: Also true!
ArPharazonV: And the plants needing to let them go applies to the Old Forest as well.
AriehnV: i wonder whether Bilbo was inspired by them?
AriehnV: i mean i can imagine he knew it well
ArPharazonV: Don't know. He does have a Took-ish side, but might not have set foot in them personally, or spent much time in Buckland. He certainly didn't pass through there with the dwarves.
AriehnV: i mean he had a reputation for going off on his own for walks
AriehnV: i know the books dont mention it .. but in theory its a possibility
AriehnV: and an adventourous nature anyway
AriehnV: or if he wasnt there himself mayhbe he spoke with people who had been in there
ArPharazonV: That could be true.
ArPharazonV: He had contact with all sorts of travellers.
ArPharazonV: Some of the Elvish ones in particular might have liked the Old Forest :-)
AriehnV: yup probably :-)

AriehnV: What do we know of the old forest?
ArPharazonV: Moving trees, bit hostile to travellers, especially as you go deeper in. Tendency to steer travellers down to the river.
ArPharazonV: No wonder Tom Bombadil patrols there!
AriehnV: Aye and it was old
AriehnV: very old
AriehnV: one of the last remnants of Middle earths original forests .. and maybe related to Mirkwood
ArPharazonV: About as old as Fangorn, I imagine. One of the final bastions of the great wild forests that the Numenoreans (and beyond) chopped down.
AriehnV: mmh bet that was why the trees didnt like humanoids in there very much
ArPharazonV: Mirkwood, perhaps, too, though there don't appear to be any ents or huorns walking around.
AriehnV: the hobbits got fire and building wood in there if they were brave
ArPharazonV: And yes, that's true. If I recall, they even attacked the Shire once, before the Hobbits burned them and made a big hedge.
AriehnV: indeed
AriehnV: the hobbits made a stand against the attacks and hacked the attacking trees down
AriehnV: and made a big bonfire with them
AriehnV: the bonfire glade was a remaining memorial of this
ArPharazonV: Ah yes.
ArPharazonV: The trees themselves must have viewed it as a cemetery of sorts.
AriehnV: i would imagine
ArPharazonV: A place where the death of their kind still dwells.
AriehnV: the paths kept shifting #
AriehnV: i remember Frodo nearly got lost and hardly recognised it when he got there
ArPharazonV: Oh yes. The rest of the forest is fair game.
AriehnV: what else do we remember of the crossing of the old forest?
ArPharazonV: Well, as I suggested, they were being steered deep into the forest, to the enchanted river, where it nearly took their lives. Lucky for them, that part of the forest had a rather unlikely guardian watching over it, making sure that nothing went wrong.
AriehnV: The power who directed our HObibit friends was quite unlikely as well wasnt it?
AriehnV: well not entirely unexpected in a forest i guess or not .. well and since near a river a willow spirit or huorn was not that surprising i guess
karakedi25: friends, I need to log out. Keep on with the excellent discussion!
AriehnV: All right :-) good luck to you Indis
AriehnV: namarie for now
karakedi25: namarie
karakedi25 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
AriehnV: something just sprang to my mind
AriehnV: when Frodo and Sam and Merry and Pippin got trapped by Old Man Willow Tom Bombadil got them free with a song
AriehnV: he knew the tune for him
AriehnV: but when the hobbits entered the Old Forest and started singing to them they didnt like it
ArPharazonV: Well, Old Man Willow wasn't too fond of it either, I think. But that wasn't the point. Bombadil simply had that power to subdue him anyway.
ArPharazonV: But you do make a good point: What if the trees didn't like their singing, because it reminded them of that little guy who kept singing at them and they couldn't do anything about it?
AriehnV: spell breaking songs eh? would be handy sometimes :-)
AriehnV: well eventually Tom, that *little guy*, brought them safely to his house where they were fed and groomed and given beds :-)
AriehnV: and this concludes our litte excursion into the Old Forest unless you have any further comments?
ArPharazonV: Hmm, don't think so.
AriehnV: Okay :-)
AriehnV: and its nearly end of meeting time .. i shall bring out a silvery mirror and yes turn it just into the right angle
AriehnV: *shapes sunbeam into gavel and flashes signals onto the silvery mirror*
ArPharazonV: Impressive. Taking lessons from Aule?
AriehnV: yes he likes teaching
top

AriehnV: Aftermeeting!
AriehnV: Room for personal gaming news

AriehnV: i myself have played quite a bit on eve this last week with basic training on two characters , one a bit more industry orientated then the other
AriehnV: the other more of a fighter but both can produce or hold their own I should think :-)
AriehnV: Unfortunatly i didnt have the chance to meet Pallando , but its difficult with the time difference
AriehnV: Thats it from my side any way :-)

ArPharazonV: Right. I'll give mine then.
ArPharazonV: Starting with flashgaming, not much new this week. I started poking around in Decision 3 http://www.kongregate.com/games/FlyAnvil/decision-3 the latest sequel to a series I rather like, but i might have mentioned it when it came out a few weeks ago already.
ArPharazonV: I also played http://www.kongregate.com/games/AlexanderOcias/loved which is a rather weird "philosophical" platformer. I never really did get the story myself, but is fun for a few minutes, and even gets difficult near the end.
ArPharazonV: And finally, there's http://www.kongregate.com/games/joybits/doodle-god-blitz the latest version of a god-simulator puzzle where you have to combine elements to create new elements and build a world, but rather bigger in scale than its predecessors, and some disadvantages like an energy system and other MMO-like elements, but you'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth it.
ArPharazonV: Played more Hearthstone, but as predicted, didn't get the gold together for the new wing. I'll have to play that next week instead. I did get my warrior to level 34 though, the first one. I expect they'll all be 34 in one or two weeks.
AriehnV: congrats :-)
ArPharazonV: And get new golden cards for it, although they are the doubles of the golden cards gotten at level 32. It'll be 36 until I get actual new ones, I believe.
ArPharazonV: Thanks :-)
ArPharazonV: WoW: Not much new. The higher pet-drop-rate from the old raids that I reported on last time was either a fluke or a bug, and I think we only got one pet to drop this week, which was one I already had (but someone else in the group was happy with it!).
ArPharazonV: Making progress on Blackhand, the last boss in the Blackrock Foundry, but will still require a good deal of practice to bring down.
AriehnV: I am sure you will manage it :-)
ArPharazonV: As for the garrison, I've gotten most of my active followers maxed out now, and am making some progress on the Harrison Jones quests, which, by the way, are a lot of fun in my opinion.
AriehnV: you ll figure it out eventually
ArPharazonV: Oh yes, we always do. It just takes a while.
AriehnV: are there some in Draenor?
AriehnV: the Harrison Jones quests i mean
ArPharazonV: The Harrison Jones quests you get in the garrison all take place in Draenor, and have you following hints and clues to track down some mysterious artefact over a good part of the zone it's in.
ArPharazonV: If you complete all the different ones you get him as a new follower, as well as a fancy achievement. But I'm only halfway.
ArPharazonV: And I'm doing some more questing in Gorgrond with the other outpost building, but haven't made much progress yet. I got to meet Rexxar though, which was nice, even if he doesn't really look 30 years younger than the version we already know :-)
AriehnV: How do you get them?
ArPharazonV: The Harrison Jones quests? If you're lucky, Harrison shows up in your town hall instead of some of the other daily questgivers or npcs, like Muradin and his 5-man quests.
ArPharazonV: If you're not lucky, and you don't want to wait, you can ask around to enter the garrison of someone who does have him.
AriehnV: ah right
AriehnV: any special awards or achievement?
AriehnV: rewards i mean ..
ArPharazonV: As I said, you get Harrison as a new follower (rare quality at least) and a new quest achievement. And the gold rewards are pretty good too, for the quests themselves.
AriehnV: nice :-)
AriehnV: sorry i must have missed that or my head is just too mushy now :-)#
ArPharazonV: That's fine :-)
AriehnV: I think its probably time to call it i think ..doesnt look like Varda will make it all which is a bit of a shame before my holiday :-(
AriehnV: but say good bye to from me next week will you? and its just one meeting
ArPharazonV: Will do. And she'll receive the transcript anyway.
AriehnV: All right :-) Namarie for now :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie!

VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Phar
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
ArPharazonV: Before I forget, Arien said to say good bye for her for next week, she'll miss a meeting because of vacation.
ArPharazonV: But that's all in the transcript :-)
VardaValar1: Ok, good to know.
VardaValar1: I've been lucky to have you two when needed, so far. :-)
ArPharazonV: So far! But if I'm alone in the chatroom next week, it won't be much of a meeting.
VardaValar1: Drag someone in!
VardaValar1: I should be here next weekend.
ArPharazonV: Well, that's good at least :-)
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
