Before-meeting
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Phar :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Still about 20 minutes, no worries
ArPharazonV: Just taking care of some stuff in WoW then :-)
VardaValar1: Peachy keen
AriehnV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Arien
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
AriehnV: Aiya all :-)
AriehnV: how are you?
VardaValar1: Pallando is trying to enter, looks as if he needs to download the legacy version
AriehnV: wow .. a stranger indeed
ArPharazonV: Hah, that's been a while.
PallandoValar has entered the room.
PallandoValar: Why hello.
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Grats! Glad you made it in. :-)
AriehnV: Aiya :-D
AriehnV: *hugs and prepares welcome feast for Pallando!
ArPharazonV: A hug from the sun?
VardaValar1: Ok, it's that time. Inviting. :-)
VardaValar1: Hello from the gang in LotRO and Sauron in SWTOR
ArPharazonV: Hello gang!
VardaValar1: Fangorn, Elwing, Celebrian, Nar in LotRO last I saw. I'm not there right now.

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: We're now re-doing the Games Site with current info, mailed in by members or seen if we happen to be in the same game. Lot of games we're not in and need your help.
ArPharazonV: Ah, right, was supposed to email him.
VardaValar1: Please email Eonwe with your info on which games you currently play.
VardaValar1: Feel free to email during the meeting. :-)
VardaValar1: It's on the Members page of our site.
VardaValar1: This is part of getting ready for the 17th Anniversary of the Valar Guild, Oct 4. :-)
VardaValar1: Good to see Pallando here today. :-)
AriehnV: indeed Pallando :-) aiyata :-)
VardaValar1: I think he may have stepped away for a minute.

VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: News up on the Games Site, as well as info for players that's been sent in already.
VardaValar1: Thanks Eonwe, for your hard work. :-)

VardaValar1: Tolkien Site:
VardaValar1: Lately the art folks have been active:

VardaValar1: DeepGroover-(T) has a couple of models for us this week.
VardaValar1: "Heavy is the crown...". Makes a bit of a companion piece to his Wild Man
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/DeepGroover/HeavyCrown/HeavyCrown.htm
VardaValar1: Do click on the images. I was experimenting with thumbnails that cut a lot of the picture off to get a particular size.
VardaValar1: Clicking gives you more to see.
VardaValar1: He has a funny one for us called "Dorf":
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/DeepGroover/Dorf/Dorf.htm
VardaValar1: This should also be clicked for enlarging.
VardaValar1: I tried a different way of thumbnailing on that one, so you see the whole thing in small size.

VardaValar1: The Bohemian Weasel-(T) gave us a batch of paiintings to enjoy, still going up. She's getting ready for the exhibit of her paintings live, alongside the likes of Ted Nasmith, so it's quite exciting.
VardaValar1: Right now she's stuck at home while her paintings travel ahead, since she's working on illustrations for a book being put out by Viking.
VardaValar1: Paintings up this week:
VardaValar1: "Gandalf Rides"
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Gandalf/EmlGandalfWhiteRidesTo MinasTirith.jpg
VardaValar1: "Hope is Rekindled" (beacon)
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/places/Gondor/HopeRekindled.jpg
VardaValar1: "On the Wall" Faramir and Eowyn
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/places/Gondor/OnTheWall.jpg
VardaValar1: From the movie comes the Army of the Dead in Minas Tirith, with Aragorn looking on:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Oathbreakers/EmlDeadArmynMin asTirith.jpg
ArPharazonV: Now I have that music track of the beacons lighting in my head again.
VardaValar1: And from The Hobbit, some hungry trolls:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Trolls/AnyMore.jpg
VardaValar1: Yay for the musical mind. :-)

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Non-WoW, non-LotRO gaming:
VardaValar1: StarCraft 2:
VardaValar1: More updates have been made to the Terran unit information pages as mentioend in the blog You Aren't Going In Alone.
VardaValar1: That's from Eonwe.
[Note: Varda also played SWTOR this past week. Sauron played.]
VardaValar1: Any other folks with news?
ArPharazonV: Sure.
ArPharazonV: Done some more Hearthstone, done some more Diablo III (now at lvl 26, I probably should spend a bit more time there if I want max level), and some more flashgaming... of which I'll now link one
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/targaciej/oo
ArPharazonV: a game called oO, bit of a timing/puzzle game where you have to travel along series of circles.
ArPharazonV: Can be pretty difficult, but savespots within a level are frequent, so with a bit of luck and a bit of frustration you'll get there eventually :-)
ArPharazonV: And... yeah, I think that's probably it for today.
ArPharazonV: Not much progress in Hearthstone either, but getting closer to 28 with several classes.
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar :-)
VardaValar1: Pallando has some news for us too
AriehnV: I just played a bit league of legends but not much
VardaValar1: Nice
AriehnV: go on Pallando :-)

PallandoValar: I too have been playing LoL off and on. Trying to get the achievements for the special event.
VardaValar1: Any chance of folks getting together there?
PallandoValar: I'd be up for it for sure.
VardaValar1: Do you have special servers? Channels?
PallandoValar: I don't think we have anything set up.
PallandoValar: I'm PallandoValar on the US servers.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, haven't played that, but I've got a lot of gaming on my plate right now, so I think I'll not participate for a while, if I ever want to try it :-)
VardaValar1: Arien, what about you?
PallandoValar: I think Riot finally added proper private rooms.
PallandoValar: I'll look into that next time I'm on.
PallandoValar: But I'm also playing Eve, and in there I just had Menelvagor-Valar contact me the other day.
VardaValar1: Ahh, Sauron needs to talk to him too. :-)
VardaValar1: Very good
AriehnV: I am playing on Europe West at the moment in League
PallandoValar: I have a low-level account on Europe West.
PallandoValar: ..honestly not sure what the name is.
VardaValar1: Arien, do you also have one on the US servers?
VardaValar1: And how hard is it to be on the other set of servers? Rough? Easy?
AriehnV: can you sweitch the servers ? or do you have the client twice?
PallandoValar: You can switch servers.
PallandoValar: It's super easy, there's a dropdown, I think.
PallandoValar: Yeah, top right of the new launcher.
PallandoValar: Problem is your account doesn't transfer, so you have to go through the whole training vs bots and then be restricted on what gametypes you can play until you level up.
PallandoValar: I've already done that on EU West so that'd probably be easier..
AriehnV: ah right
AriehnV: not a problem since i am low level anyway ^^
VardaValar1: Makes it tough for our people to get together. Maybe the different time zones could help decide when to play which.
PallandoValar: I'd just uh, have to figure out what my account name is.
PallandoValar: Really don't remember it..
VardaValar1: Is there some kind of friend list?
PallandoValar: Yeah
AriehnV: yup
PallandoValar: Not cross-server though.
VardaValar1: It might help on the right server at least.
PallandoValar: Yeah
VardaValar1: When you find out your name, you can email it to Eonwe for the Games Site to help you find each other.
VardaValar1: If you like, you can cc me for the Membership page
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/gaming
PallandoValar: I mailed my US name, I'll figure my EU West name in a bit.
VardaValar1: Sure, that's what's nice about email. It waits until you can get to it on either side. :-)
VardaValar1: Probably be a good idea to cc me especially for "miscellaneous games".
VardaValar1: Did you have some more news about Eve or LoL?

VardaValar1: WoW news:
VardaValar1: from the Games Site:
VardaValar1: The 6.0.2 patch is now up on the PTR. You can check out the patch notes as well as a preview of the user interface changes.
VardaValar1: More information has been released about the 10th Anniversary events.
VardaValar1: The third Lords of War cinematic has been released: Lords of War: Part 3 -
AriehnV: yup about Durotan
ArPharazonV: Hmm, guess I'll add it to the timeline :-)
VardaValar1: Yay, we helped your timeline work!
VardaValar1: Any other WoW news?
VardaValar1: Some from Eonwe:
ArPharazonV: Personally? Yep.
ArPharazonV: But I'll wait :-)
VardaValar1: Got with Glorfindel earlier in the week to defeat the last two bosses of Bastion of Twilight 10-man. Wished I'd have taken a screenshot. We got the achievement for beating the raid, of course.
VardaValar1: Completed the Scenaturday Achievement, and I'm 500 VP from getting my 100k Valor Point achievement, just in time for them to be removed from the game once the 6.0.2 patch hits, hehe. Just need the weekly limit reset on Tuesday to get that last chunk.
ArPharazonV: (Timeline updated!)
VardaValar1: Thanks :-)
VardaValar1: Go ahead, Phar, with your other WoW news.
ArPharazonV: Well, with patch on its way I've been working on some stuff in WoW, and it's going well!
VardaValar1: Sounds like you've been working.
ArPharazonV: I got my last few scenario achievements, made it to rank 10 in the Brawler's Guild past 2 or 3 very annoying bosses...
ArPharazonV: and our Challenge Mode-ing is going well too; we've got our eye on full silver, and are now halfway, we even got 2 of them in one evening yesterday.
ArPharazonV: I just hope patch doesn't come too early ;-)
ArPharazonV: 5 more challenge modes to go!
ArPharazonV: And... I think that's the main stuff.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar
VardaValar1: Arien, any news from you?
AriehnV: The horde monk is appraching ninety .. she s level 88 now :-)
AriehnV: started a shammy again as well so i ll get all classes again :-)
AriehnV: else two allies on Earthen Ring and Darkmoon Faire respectively 55 and 63 so still mini :-)
ArPharazonV: Still doing better than most of mine.
AriehnV: lock and Pali for rp purposes and just to relax
AriehnV: thats it from me :-)
VardaValar1: Thanks, Sunshine. :-)

VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: From Eonwe's Games News: (also seen on the regular News):
VardaValar1: "Update 14.2 will be going live Monday September 15th. Servers will be down from 6am to 1pm Eastern time."
VardaValar1: That's an approximation aka guess on the length of time of course. :-)
VardaValar1: Since that update is coming tomorrow, people in LotRO today are running the Ost Dunhoth instance in 12-man as fast and often as they can stand it.
VardaValar1: They are running it in Tier 1 (easiest) trying to be one of the lucky ones that might get the First Age Symbol for level 100 characters.
VardaValar1: After the update, it has to be run at Tier 2.
VardaValar1: Almost a case of have to have it to get it. :-)
VardaValar1: We have also been having extra experience for the month of September, so people also want to bring in their below 100 characters.
VardaValar1: Until the 16th, the Farmer's Fair is running, including new outfits for the warhorse among many other goodies.
VardaValar1: Any other LotRO news?
AriehnV: not from me this time
VardaValar1: Ok
AriehnV: just not enough hours in the day after work .. grimaces
VardaValar1: Understood.

Tolkien:
VardaValar1: Pallando has some news before the change to Tolkien
VardaValar1: Go ahead.
PallandoValar: I have (after several years) finally compiled the entirerty of the epic "A Boy, A Girl, & A Dog"
PallandoValar: http://rustbucket.net/leithian/index.html
PallandoValar: This was not written by me, so don't get the wrong idea.
VardaValar1: It's very interesting reading. :-)
PallandoValar: It is super extensive, it's very much a novel.
PallandoValar: The author has very extensive notes as well.
VardaValar1: And some great pictures. :-)
PallandoValar: The current issue is that I have had to pull this from various sources.
PallandoValar: There's a whole lot of editing that has to be done. Some of the pages have lost their formatting.
ArPharazonV: Now we just have to act it out!
PallandoValar: I'm going to work on this slowly
PallandoValar: But if anyone wants to help, it'd be wonderful.
VardaValar1: What would you like us to do?
VardaValar1: And why did you have to drag it from a lot of sources?
PallandoValar: I had to find it in various archives.
PallandoValar: It's all formatting. Some of the pages have css references, but.. I don't have the css file
VardaValar1: Dynasties link not working
VardaValar1: ouch
AriehnV: looks fun reading
VardaValar1: Sorry to say I haven't finished it, but it is indeed fun reading. :-)
VardaValar1: Thank you for resurrecting this work, Pallando.
ArPharazonV: I want to see this on a stage.
VardaValar1: Agreed, Phar
VardaValar1: Will it be ok for us to link it into the Valar site at some point? I hear it's very difficult or impossible to reach the originator?
PallandoValar: IT's impossible as far as I know
VardaValar1: Pallando is being distracted because he was about to run a fleet in EVE Online.
PallandoValar: I've tried repeatedly over years
VardaValar1: Ok, you'd be the one to know.
VardaValar1: Could we link to it from our site for Stories?
PallandoValar: Of course!
VardaValar1: Thank you! This is a really amazing work. The research alone is stunning.
VardaValar1: May your fleet battle go well!
VardaValar1: Any other comments, suggestions, etc? :-)

VardaValar1: We have a project that we'd like to kick off with an anniversary competition. :-)
VardaValar1: This involves taking in-game screenies, and with some thought can be done from nearly any game, maybe any game. We'll see how creative we can be.
VardaValar1: The idea is to make screenshots for the anniversary theme (hey, you asked, Phar!) of camaraderie, with a bonus added theme of the Hobbit books/movie.
ArPharazonV: I did?
VardaValar1: You asked about the theme, I think?
ArPharazonV: Ah :-)
VardaValar1: :-)
VardaValar1: The winner would have the screenshot be the only image up for the opening page of the Valar Guild, which currently has many rotating.
VardaValar1: http://www.valarguild.org/
VardaValar1: It randomly loads from a batch of pictures normally. You can see this by reloading. :-)
VardaValar1: If there's a tie (and there's a way or two), there might be a shared rotation between the two.
VardaValar1: All shots would be reachable from the Anniversary page, which continues to be available in our archives.
VardaValar1: See the anniversary archives at the bottom of the News under Specialty News
ArPharazonV: Well, my WoW guild's forum has a ton of pictures of full raids standing together after defeating bosses, does that count? ;-)
VardaValar1: I may have to fix that table, looking at it right now. The News Archives have slipped up a bit high
VardaValar1: Sadly no
ArPharazonV: And what about the alts' picture I put on the forum? That's camaraderie!
VardaValar1: It needs to be folks in the Valar's camaraderie, with our kin name, because it's our anniversary, not theirs.
ArPharazonV: Hehe, fair enough.
VardaValar1: They already have their pictures up. :-)
VardaValar1: Here's the contest info as 'we're currently working it out, probably cleaning it up a bit before posting on the forum and main News page:
AriehnV: well if you want Phar we can go together on the date and shoot fiireworks in the capitals :-)
VardaValar1:

1. camaraderie theme to allow entry and a decent shot (not blurry and sideways unless it's an on-purpose drunken party of probably dwarven comrades),
2. hobbit movie reference to add a bonus point,
3. bonus point for each guild member in the shot,
4. one point an awesome location, (includes instance or raid boss fight)
5. one point for an appropriate location. (Hobbit-themed)
6. Automatic index picture for showing the entire Thorin's Company at Rivendell made of guild members carrying our guild's name, as a first or second winner (would be rotated between the winners, no other pics up during the rest of October). This is 13 dwarves (genders unknown), one hobbit male, and one wizard male. Appropriate clothing for the tie-breaker.
7. Winning requires sending it in before the meeting time. Cool pics can still be added late to the Anniversary page for fun.

VardaValar1: Now is your chance to weigh in on the contest suggestions.
VardaValar1: May need clarification?
VardaValar1: Awesome means something very exciting to see, maybe Valarites batttling a boss, or standing over it's body, or in some astounding location.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, too bad Deathwing broke all the astounding locations...
ArPharazonV: though maybe something in Ironforge could be done for thematics
VardaValar1: Camaraderie means showing that you're friends working or doing things together.
VardaValar1: And "appropriate" needs another word, probably. It means it has to do with the Hobbit books/movie.
ArPharazonV: Well, could say Ironforge is Erebor or something!
VardaValar1: Two shots would probably be a good idea. One would have the names and kin/guild name showing, so we know who they are and that they are Valarites. The other would be with no words to put on the image for the guild site.
VardaValar1: Right, pick something you can work with.
AriehnV: whats Hobbit? a gnome?
VardaValar1: Sauron already came up with a cool idea that could work in SWTOR, and could use some of you for that.
VardaValar1: Also, you can do a Humor theme.
VardaValar1: Aye, any small person might work as a hobbit
VardaValar1: But the movie and book also have non-Hobbit character scenes. :-)
VardaValar1: A Humor theme might be a Horde version of Thorin's Company, maybe a goblin hobbit, troll Gandalf, that sort of thing.
VardaValar1: Anyway, if we can come up with some nifty Hobbit-themed stuff (must have camaraderie for the contest), then

VardaValar1: we can include them for the project, which is
VardaValar1: doing the books in screenies. :-)
VardaValar1: That should take us another 17 years. ;-)
VardaValar1: We can try for some of the scenes anyway.
ArPharazonV: Hah! That could be interesting.
VardaValar1: This could be in a web page done like the art site, going from one to the next, almost like a comic book.
VardaValar1: Then we can insert new ones appropriately as they come in.
VardaValar1: If they are the same scene, they might go on the same page as versions. :-)
VardaValar1: Humor shots can go in the Humor section, which I would like to re-vamp, as it's been long neglected.
VardaValar1: Anyway, this could be a lot of fun and give us a new eye to things as we do our gaming. :-)
VardaValar1: Please take a look at the list above about the contest and let me know if something is unclear or needs work in some way?
VardaValar1: There is a time limit for the prize of being on the guild site, as we need to look over them to declare a winner and put it on the site.
VardaValar1: After October is over, it would probably remain in the list of rotating images afterwards. :-)
VardaValar1: Feel free to take advantage of free to play LotRO. :-)
VardaValar1: Any game willl do for the creative.
AriehnV: sure :-)
VardaValar1: Might be interesting to do Silmarillion screenies. :-)
AriehnV: *imagines different sized ships in Eve scenario*
VardaValar1: Actually, you might be able to play with star fields and other things.
VardaValar1: We could use shots of the heavens and creation for the Silmarillion.
VardaValar1: Be a trick to fit Eve into the Hobbit, but maybe you can find a way.
AriehnV: if i d play it .. maybe go back for a month or so just for the fun of trying ^^
VardaValar1: Need at least two people in the guild to show camaraderie.
VardaValar1: Bound to find a few really good shots in the next 17 years. :-)
ArPharazonV: 17 years of Eve.. heh
VardaValar1: Please let me know if anything is unclear in the list above.
VardaValar1: :-)
VardaValar1: *picks up a hammer from the lower, wider shelf*
VardaValar1: *raises it overhead*
ArPharazonV: *ducks*
VardaValar1: *Ker-thommmmmmmm!*

VardaValar1: After-meeting!
AriehnV: thanks :-)
AriehnV: wonderful
AriehnV: right you wonderful Valarites .. need a decent bedtime tonight :-)
AriehnV: Sleep well all of you once you get to it
VardaValar1: Be a bit. Only 6pm here right now. :-) 7pm Eastern
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
VardaValar1: Namarie!
AriehnV has left the room.
PallandoValar: Well, I died.
ArPharazonV: you died?
PallandoValar: Twice, actually. But we won.
PallandoValar: So, mission accomplished.
ArPharazonV: Eve?
PallandoValar: Yeah
VardaValar1: grats
ArPharazonV: Isn't dying like.. really bad there?
PallandoValar: Eh.
PallandoValar: Worse than WoW, sure.
PallandoValar: But if you're prepared, it's fine.
ArPharazonV: Aha.
PallandoValar: Like, your ship explodes, and ~half of your gear explodes, and the other ~half drops.
PallandoValar: We were able to recover my gear once, but the other time no.
ArPharazonV: Ouch.
PallandoValar: After ship explodes, a little escape pod shows up.
PallandoValar: If that explodes, you then go to a new clone, and you completely lose any implants you have, no chance of recovery, and you need to get a new clone contract, or you're going to lose skillpoints next time your pod dies.
PallandoValar: But I just lost ships, no pods.
PallandoValar: Which is good, cause my pod is worth like 3x the two ships combined..
ArPharazonV: Hah.
PallandoValar: But I'm decently well off.
PallandoValar: So replacing them is just annoying, not bank-breaking.
ArPharazonV: *nods*
PallandoValar: I'm just tired, really.
ArPharazonV: Can imagine.
PallandoValar: been running fleets for like, 8 hours today?
ArPharazonV: Ouch!
PallandoValar: and like 10 or something yesterday?
PallandoValar: there's been bits of downtime, 30 minutes here, an hour there.
PallandoValar: but pretty much that all day..
PallandoValar: But yeah, the meeting started like, _as_ we were going in.
ArPharazonV: Well, that was about... four and a half hours ago, and you've been at it since?
PallandoValar: The bit about the fanfic, when I put my last line here, I was then alt-tabbing back to say "jump jump jump, engage primary target" and going from there.
PallandoValar: Yeah.
PallandoValar: Had.. maybe an hour total downtime.
PallandoValar: Currently on another 30 minute-ish break.
PallandoValar: About 15 minutes left.
ArPharazonV: I, on the other hand, am going to sleep :-)
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript!
PallandoValar: http://puu.sh/byDED/ce9e48b72d.png this, plus the one in 15 minutes
PallandoValar: was my schedule today
PallandoValar: local time is est, eve time is utc
PallandoValar: +additional skirmishing in between
ArPharazonV: Well, as long as you're enjoying it...
PallandoValar: "enjoy" can have so many different meanings. ;-)
ArPharazonV: It only needs one!
