Before-meeting
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
ArPharazonV: Aiya
ArPharazonV: Note that unless I have to log out for some reason before tonight, this will end up on the transcript from now on :-)
ArPharazonV: Interesting. I've been facing "boggits" for the first time in Diablo 3 now, in the blood marsh.
ArPharazonV: According to the description they're small, odd humanoids, that forage and burrow, and can be influenced by magical items, most notably rings....
ArPharazonV: I wonder if they're based on a certain creature we know.. ;-)
VardaValar1: Aiya Pallando and Pharazon. :-)
VardaValar1: This is a nice way to get to "see" Eonwe too, scrolling.
ArPharazonV: Aiya :-)
ArPharazonV: Before my time, I think!
VardaValar1: One suspects Gollum's family of proto-Stoors, aye.
VardaValar1: Advantage of leaving AIM up all the time, but hard on the battery and a potential hacker opening. Worth it for the little time of these anniversaries, for sure.
VardaValar1: I've heard people claim Gollum's folks weren't hobbits, but the books state that they were, just from an earlier time.
ArPharazonV: pre-migration hobbits, yep
VardaValar1: In LotRO, there are boggarts, goblins, that look like corrupt hobbits and live near Stoors.
ArPharazonV: Ah! Boggits might well be based on those then.
VardaValar1: Half-way migration maybe, coming in from the east and moving to the west, but stopping at the mountains. Elvish.
VardaValar1: heh, maybe. But it's very easy to start from a similar source and invent something independently hoping to make something fresh. Or they just lifted it. :-)
ArPharazonV: We might never know :-)
VardaValar1: Sauron is trying out Gauntlet now, gift from a friend, has potential amusement value, some obvious standard lifts. He'll let us know. Seems to be multi-player only.
VardaValar1: Ahh, just deciphered the comments by Eonwe and Pallando. Eonwe must have been helping with the scripting for the writing project.
VardaValar1: http://rustbucket.net/leithian/index.html
ArPharazonV: Might be a neat idea for a tolkien topic, how hobbits and the like were transformed for other games etc.
ArPharazonV: Though it's not so much Tolkien as "everything else"?
VardaValar1: It works. Sounds like something from a class. The Tolkien influence.
VardaValar1: Just been informed I'll be spending the rest of the week starting tomorrow on the road. Should be back in time for the next meeting.
ArPharazonV: Eek.
VardaValar1: I'll be here for this meeting, no sweat. :-)
VardaValar1: Sauron and Bilbo will be home, couple of guys in their thirties, better than Pitt bulldogs for security. :-)
VardaValar1: pit
VardaValar1: wow, no Tolkien Site contributions for the anniversary. We may have to turn in our "lore monkey" title.
VardaValar1: Did you have any other anniversary screenshots you wanted to send in? Trying to get them up before the meeting.
ArPharazonV: Not me, one will do :-)
VardaValar1: Pallando might even have an EVE shot.
VardaValar1: Thanks Phar, much appreciated. :-)
VardaValar1: dropping comments between meetings. Just more info than needed. :-)
VardaValar1: It's that time. :-)
VardaValar1: Anyone conscious? :-)
ArPharazonV: So it is!
ArPharazonV: And so I am.
VardaValar1: yay!
VardaValar1: I was struggling to put all the pictures up ahead of time, but not going to make it, heh.
VardaValar1: Gilraen must be on her ipod. No Group Chat.
ArPharazonV: I'll check bnet for an Arien.
VardaValar1: Thank you
ArPharazonV: No Arien online for the past 10 hours.
VardaValar1: ok, thanks
VardaValar1: Looking at the photo contest. Appears that sheer numbers may give the LotRO folks an edge.
ArPharazonV: I'm starting to think this guild is heavily biased towards LotR.
VardaValar1: The Hobbits dancing at the Party Tree have the best Hobbit plus camaraderie theme with four people, but the numbers in the anniversary fireworks run go five and six.
VardaValar1: SWTOR had four people
VardaValar1: You get that impression? :-)
VardaValar1: Maybe because it's a Tolkien fan club as well as a gamer's group?
VardaValar1: Diablo 1, WoW (all 3 places) just 1
ArPharazonV: Possibly!
VardaValar1: Althought the page isn't done yet on the photos, I'm still putting it online with what it does have.
VardaValar1: No new screenies ahead of the meeting, so it's looking as if Fangorn has the edge in the contest at the moment.
VardaValar1: Kind of expected more on, but maybe they missed the time. Checking on LotRO.
VardaValar1: Guess they were worn out from yesterday's fireworks run. Gorlim was on but in a group in an instance.
VardaValar1: Are you having any better luck?
VardaValar1: You are! There's Arien :-)
ArPharazonV: Me? I don't really have contact with people in games besides Arien :P and I guess so, but I didn't warn her ;-)
AriehnV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Arien :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiyarien!
AriehnV: ooof Aiya Varda .. sorry for being late .. i was working until 18 minutes ago :-\
AriehnV: Aiya Phari and Pallando though :-)
VardaValar1: Delighted you could come. :-)
VardaValar1: Common problem, folks working this time of day.
VardaValar1: Did you have time to grab a snack yet?
VardaValar1: Maybe bring it to the computer?
AriehnV: i ate at work so i am fine :-)
AriehnV: when i work late i never eat at home
VardaValar1: Ok, don't have to worry about you then. :-)
VardaValar1: See anyone else on we could call in?
AriehnV: ThiefGaelar .. who is this?
VardaValar1: He said he's no longer interested in Tolkien stuff
AriehnV: ah okay
ArPharazonV: Looks like Gilraen's on my AIM list. Did you invite her yet?
VardaValar1: Dagnir-(V)
VardaValar1: She's apparently on her ipod, can't invite to Group Chat, no reply on im
ArPharazonV: Ah.
VardaValar1: We are the championnnns... /endmusic

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: A star shines on the hour of our meeting, as Frodo said to Gildor Inglorion, surprising him.
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: We have a new recruit in SWTOR, an old friend from years of Pathfinder games and SWTOR. He's read the LotR and just needs his test and name.
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
top

VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: Games Site news updated
VardaValar1: Eonwe has been working with Pallando on the programming for "A Boy, A Girl, & A Dog"
VardaValar1: Pallando is here, lurking in the meeting. :-)
VardaValar1: http://rustbucket.net/leithian/index.html
VardaValar1: A very worthy mirror project indeed.
ArPharazonV: rust bucket, such a promising name
VardaValar1: hehehe

VardaValar1: On the Tolkien Site elsewhere
VardaValar1: Art site:
VardaValar1: Aerandir's site froze, so I put up a quick site to hold his crafting so it's not lost.
VardaValar1: No thumbnails yet
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/Aerandir/caveAerandir.htm
VardaValar1: If his doesn't come back up, that one will be fixed up better, and maybe even if it does come back up. :-)

VardaValar1: New article for the Anniversary, a note from something I found while looking for something else that seemed interesting enough to pass along:
VardaValar1: "Who Are the Elven-wise?"
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/articles/e/elves/Elven-wise.htm
VardaValar1: It could be developed more, or have links to such as Galadriel added in.
VardaValar1: This kind of neat note is nice to add to our site, if any of you run across such gold nuggets.

VardaValar1: The State of Valar Gaming, Eonwe's report made from info from our emails and those games he's able to go into and check, is online for the Anniversary, although it's been made for quite a while now.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/NewsArchives/extras/2014/StateofValarGaming2014.htm

VardaValar1: The anniversary page has been up, with new items added as they come in:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/NewsArchives/extras/2014/Anniv17th/anniv17th.htm

ArPharazonV: Rather surprised I was the only one playing (or) reporting Hearthstone. Blizzard games have been rather popular with us, and any casual can get into this one.
VardaValar1: Fangorn-(Valar) on this side of the screen says hi!
ArPharazonV: hi Fangorn!
VardaValar1: You're not actually the only one playing, just the one reporting that you played. :-)

VardaValar1: For fun this week, we put up a thread on the forum anyone can add to:
ArPharazonV: Yeah, that should've been (or reporting), nor (or) reporting
VardaValar1: Sauron's Evil Overlord in Retrospect List
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.proboards.com/thread/1562/saurons-evil-overlord-retrospect-list
VardaValar1: We also have a forum thread to say Happy Anniversary on, make comments, reminesce:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.proboards.com/thread/1562/saurons-evil-overlord-retrospect-list
VardaValar1: We have a contest going for an anniversary screenshot to put up in place of our current rotating images for October, and added in the rotation for afterwards.
VardaValar1: Maybe you all would like to weigh in on the contest. :-)
ArPharazonV: Did you just give the same link twice?
VardaValar1: An 8th guideline was added, dropping that Varda person
VardaValar1: um, yes.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: I'll check that for the right link
VardaValar1: Aiya Indis :-)
karakedi25: aiya. raiding so can't talk much
ArPharazonV: Aiya! Good luck!
VardaValar1: There's the link to the anniversary page:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.proboards.com/thread/1561/happy-17th-anniversary-valar-guild
VardaValar1: Happy 17th Anniversary yesterday, Indis. :-)
VardaValar1: Aye aye. Stay alive. Gorlim is too.
AriehnV: i am sorry i havent sent in the food article yet .. but with a bit of luck and energy tomorrow i should be able to do it tomorrow and you ll have it by Tuesday night :-)
VardaValar1: That would be lovely. :-)
VardaValar1: From my article, you can see that the written pieces don't have to be really long ones.

VardaValar1: For the contest for the anniversary picture, would you like to weigh in? I'll help out.
VardaValar1: The pictures had to be sent in before this meeting, so that cut it down drastically.
VardaValar1: They need to show camaraderie, showing people in the Valar Guild as one of two themes. One extra point per person shown.
VardaValar1: The second theme for the winning picture is to show something that could have been in the Hobbit book or movies.
VardaValar1: Not required, but desired.
VardaValar1: We have three batches that seem to be possible
VardaValar1: Those sending in pics of Hobbits dancing at the Party Tree,
VardaValar1: Humans and elves celebrating the anniversary at various locations in Middle-earth, Bree and Rivendell being the likely ones here.
VardaValar1: And humans dancing and shooting fireworks in celebration (after the death of Smaug maybe?) in front of the Jedi Temple in Star Wars: The Old Republic mmo.
VardaValar1: Four people were present for the Hobbit dance, four for the SWTOR group, five to six for the humans and elves in Breen and Rivendell.
ArPharazonV: so the Jedi Temple looks like Erebor? :-)
VardaValar1: well, not much. :-) But here's the shot:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/NewsArchives/extras/2014/Anniv17th/SWTOR_Doc1.jpg
VardaValar1: Might have helped to take it by piers. They were going for a capitol city for anniversary fireworks, not really the contest. That was a side maybe. :-)
ArPharazonV: Nice graphics in that game.
VardaValar1: No argument there. :-)
VardaValar1: That SWTOR shot was from our new recruit, still working on getting a test and name. We know him as Doc, and his character in that shot was Viltaria
VardaValar1: The graphics might help give an edge.
VardaValar1: I had one too, but his was better. :-)
VardaValar1: The Hobbit dancers had pics taken by Elwing, Fangorn, and myself, but I leave myself out of the contest due to too much opportunity due to duties. Of course if one I make blew them all out of the water, no problem, but don't think any did that.
VardaValar1: Here's the page with the pick links for the hobbit dancers:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/projectScreenies/Fellowship/Party/party.htm
VardaValar1: ahh, my bad. There are five hobbits in the later pics, not four.
VardaValar1: The first shots have three, then it goes up as more arrive.
VardaValar1: That would be at the fourth pic
AriehnV: very nice
VardaValar1: The ui being on is not good for the final choice
VardaValar1: Leave out my pics, and that leaves Elwing's and Fangorn's
VardaValar1: I have a favorite of those and would like to see which you would pick. I'm also going by high number of Valarites.
VardaValar1: If your comp is finding this too hard to run through, please warn us.
VardaValar1: Bilbo pics at the bottom are not in the running.
ArPharazonV: why not? they could've happened!
VardaValar1: Because only one person, and I took the shots.
ArPharazonV: Ah.
VardaValar1: I need a Gandalf actor to help with these shots. Looking for volunteers. :-)
VardaValar1: There's two I like actually, but we are supposed to pick only one unless it's a real tie.
VardaValar1: Two in this group, I mean.
VardaValar1: I hope you are looking through the shots and picking? The favorite of these will go on the list of the ones we considered.
ArPharazonV: Hobbits running through the food on the table is interesting, but not sure if it's realistic!
VardaValar1: :-)
VardaValar1: Sauron was actually dancing on the table, but the shots looked so much like running and jumping that that was how they were used for the storyline.
ArPharazonV: He's still standing in the food.
VardaValar1: hehe - good point
VardaValar1: Elwing (in the feathered hat) appears to be standing in a bowl, too.
ArPharazonV: "Get your hairy feet out of my chicken!"
VardaValar1: hehehe
VardaValar1: It might still be one of the more fun shots to use?
VardaValar1: Any dance shots you'd like?
ArPharazonV: Well if your shots are out, it doesn't leave much but the dancing :-)
VardaValar1: The table shot you mentioned is by Elwing
ArPharazonV: Yes, I like that shot.
ArPharazonV: But they're all quite nice, difficult to choose!
VardaValar1: That bodes well :-)
ArPharazonV: Or even to point out, for that matter.
VardaValar1: and agreed
VardaValar1: One reason to cut mine out, make it easier.
AriehnV: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/projectScreenies/Fellowship/Party/5dF84.jpg i like this one of the dancers best
VardaValar1: Thanks Arien
ArPharazonV: Then I'll submit this one. http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/projectScreenies/Fellowship/Party/5dE885.jpg
VardaValar1: Phar, did that beat out the table shot?
AriehnV: with this one as a close second :-) http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/projectScreenies/Fellowship/Party/5dE885.jpg
ArPharazonV: Oh, no, but you mentioned the dance pictures.
ArPharazonV: The table shot wins for me!
VardaValar1: ahhh, ok. So that dance shot took second for both of you.
AriehnV: mh personal favorite of the other pics is Bilbos speech
VardaValar1: o nice to know.
VardaValar1: This one?
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/projectScreenies/Fellowship/Party/speech903.jpg
ArPharazonV: Really looks like he's got his hand in his pocket.
VardaValar1: more so than this one?
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/projectScreenies/Fellowship/Party/pocket904.jpg
ArPharazonV: Both, actually.
VardaValar1: Excellent
ArPharazonV: Well if you want brutal honesty, the first one also kinda looks like he's scratching himself. But let's not let that stop our story.
VardaValar1: I do want it, and that was funny. :-)
VardaValar1: So we have two pics for potential first choice from this group
VardaValar1: Amusingly I picked the one you two picked as second place for first.
VardaValar1: Thank you for votiing. Very enlightening and interesting. Now on to the last set of pics
VardaValar1: Fangorn is the only one to mail in shots besides me for the fireworks run group on the anniversary page
VardaValar1: for LotRO
VardaValar1: One of his would go up against the one from SWTOR
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/NewsArchives/extras/2014/Anniv17th/anniv17th.htm
VardaValar1: The other gaming groups only sent in single person shots before meeting time, putting them behind.
AriehnV: looks good
VardaValar1: Sorry, what looks good?
VardaValar1: A big problem is the way the road keeps taking up so much space in the pictures.
VardaValar1: Maybe if they were docked?
ArPharazonV: Something appears to be wrong with the image link of the first SWTOR picture listed. The first of the 3, that is.
VardaValar1: I'll check it, thanks
VardaValar1: o wow. Wonder if it got overwritten? Thanks
ArPharazonV: np
VardaValar1: ok, try it now
ArPharazonV: Yep, that works.
VardaValar1: Yay!
AriehnV: i meant the picture of the dancing humans in SowTR ::-)
VardaValar1 has left the room.
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: I seem to have crashed for a bit?
VardaValar1: Saw nothing past Yep, that works.
ArPharazonV: ArPharazonV: Yep, that works.VardaValar1: Yay!AriehnV: i meant the picture of the dancing humans in SowTR ::-)VardaValar1 has left the room.VardaValar1 has entered the room.VardaValar1: I seem to have crashed for a bit?
VardaValar1: Thank you. :-)
ArPharazonV: I'll make an insurance transcript.
VardaValar1: Good plan
VardaValar1: Ok, two pics by Viltaria of dancing humans, did you mean the first of those two?
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/NewsArchives/extras/2014/Anniv17th/SWTOR_Doc1.jpg
VardaValar1: Viltaria beats Fangorn here for you?
VardaValar1: What was the best of the Fangorn pics?
VardaValar1: Sheer number of Valarites puts Fangorn's shots on up there.
AriehnV: http://valarguild.org/varda/NewsArchives/extras/2014/Anniv17th/SWTOR_Doc1.jpg
AriehnV: this one
VardaValar1: ok, thanks. I like that one too.
AriehnV: http://valarguild.org/varda/NewsArchives/extras/2014/Anniv17th/SWTOR_Doc1.jpg
VardaValar1: So no Fangorn pics to put against the SWTOR?
VardaValar1: If you reload, I just put up my pics, so be careful. Easier to spot Fangorn's without those links showing up.
ArPharazonV: Well I like the one about dancing in the snow.
VardaValar1: Thorin's? ah neat
ArPharazonV: Thorin's Gate, yes.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/NewsArchives/extras/2014/Anniv17th/LotRO_Thorins_Fang161.jpg
VardaValar1: Thanks
ArPharazonV: Yes. It may not be fireworks but it's close enough, with those sparks!
VardaValar1: Those sparks are leftover or side bits of fireworks going off. Plus some snow in there adding to it. Agreed. :-)
VardaValar1: hmm, no snowflakes
VardaValar1: all sparks. neato
AriehnV: yeah its not bad are there any others?
VardaValar1 has left the room.
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Did the server reconnect yet?
ArPharazonV: AriehnV: yeah its not bad are there any others?VardaValar1 has left the room.VardaValar1 has entered the room.VardaValar1: Did the server reconnect yet?
ArPharazonV: Aiyata
VardaValar1: Fangorn's pics? There are lots of them under LotRO. I don't understand the question.
VardaValar1: If you mean more Thorin's pics, I tried to upload another, if the server was working right at the time.
VardaValar1: Tried again
AriehnV: its okay dont worry i am just tired after a long long day ^^ . I hope i ll get the article done by Tuesday :-)
VardaValar1: Ok, no worries. Wasn't sure it was showing. :-)
VardaValar1: I could've wrecked it trying to upload during a server crash.
VardaValar1: So between the hobbit pictures, the SWTOR pics, and the LotRO pics, any choice between groups?
ArPharazonV: well, the hobbit pictures do seem to fit the contest the most :-)
VardaValar1: Agreed.
VardaValar1: Arien?
VardaValar1: So we need to pick between our three evenly chosen Hobbit pics or put up all three as a tie?
VardaValar1: Here they are again:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/projectScreenies/Fellowship/Party/5tE889.jpg
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/projectScreenies/Fellowship/Party/5dF84.jpg
ArPharazonV: I'm good with a tie :-)
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/projectScreenies/Fellowship/Party/5dE885.jpg
VardaValar1: We may just go ahead with the tie. :-)
karakedi25: 1 or 3; 1 is more interesting
karakedi25: 2 is static
VardaValar1: Three came in at second place every time. Sounds like 1 is the winner!
VardaValar1: yay for playing with food!
VardaValar1: That was our web contest, thank you all for participating. :-)
VardaValar1: This meeting went very long and folks are tired or busy, so let's bounce through the rest.

VardaValar1: WoW:
VardaValar1: For those interested in PvP, the current PvP season is coming to an end soon
VardaValar1: See what's going to happen with Brawler's Guild: Season Two.
VardaValar1: Pardon, message was too long
AriehnV: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/projectScreenies/Fellowship/Party/5dE885.jpg
AriehnV: i vote for this
VardaValar1: um, you said it was your second choice before?
VardaValar1: Maybe we can do both of those, call it a tie.
VardaValar1: Two votes went for 1, two votes went for 3
ArPharazonV: A tie then!
VardaValar1: okie dokie :-)
AriehnV: A tie and a suit ... fitting for a dace .. nods
VardaValar1: Did that long message come through with Lothar branch news from Eonwe?
ArPharazonV: It did not.
VardaValar1: ok, giving it another shot. :-)
VardaValar1: Lothar Guild Branch news: As I mentioned in the chat marathon, I got rank 10 in Brawler's Guild this week. Glorfindel's still rank 9 (so far,.. I pulled ahead due to some luck and trying some different things on Hexos that seemed to help), and Bofur's had rank 9 for the last year. I'm unsure if Bofur's still pushing for rank 10 before the patch given that fact, but if Glorfindel and Bofur can get theirs in before the pre-expansion patch, that'll give the Valar Guild 3 rank 10 Brawlers for Season 1.
VardaValar1: What makes it worth mentioning? Brawler's Guild is among the most challenging intentionally single-player content. There's some tough fights in there, particularly the opening fight to rank 8, Hexos. It relies heavily on learning the fight mechanics (particularly when you get in the higher ranks), even if gear can pad you for a few mistakes, and being comfortable with your class's DPS rotation. So..., like any challenging content :} Getting beyond rank 8 in Brawler's Guild is something to cheer about. Plus rank 10 gets you a mount.
VardaValar1: That's all from Eonwe. :-)
VardaValar1: More from the Games Site:
VardaValar1: A series of shory stories have been released called Tales of Pandaria.
VardaValar1: A Dungeon Preview blog has also been posted.

VardaValar1: For StarCraft II, he tells us:
ArPharazonV: Note: The stories were released one by one in the past. They're already in my timeline from then.
VardaValar1: Patch 2.1.5 was released this week.
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar. Great to be ahead of the curve! And we can read it from our forum, gang!

VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: People are working like crazy with all the new content trying to gear up.
VardaValar1: We all know another update will be hitting in December and are trying to be up for it.
karakedi25: and I expect the LotRO team is working like crazy to get update 15 up, with the new class.
VardaValar1: A lot of the Valarites are also having fun with the lower level stuff, a lot of which has been revamped.
karakedi25: /
VardaValar1: Aye, Indis, thanks. The Beorning is supposed to be coming out.
VardaValar1: The last I heard, they dropped the unpopular idea of starting it at level 50 like a Death Knight, and will start it at level 1. Nothing is set until it comes out though.
ArPharazonV: Lessons learned, eh.
karakedi25: as far as I know, that hasn't changed
VardaValar1: Ok, then it's a rumor that it was dropped back to level 1. Too bad.
karakedi25: it has dropped to level 1
karakedi25: I believe there will be a choice
VardaValar1: That sounds like a plan. I'd defniitely want to opt for level 1 to learn the class well.
VardaValar1: Get the traits and crafting in a timely way.
karakedi25: me too, plus the immersion
VardaValar1: Aye

VardaValar1: Tolkien.
VardaValar1: Did we pretty well take care of this section with the Tolkien picture contest voting? :-)
VardaValar1: I know everyone is tired.
ArPharazonV: haha, perhaps we did
VardaValar1: Ok :-)
VardaValar1: *picks up hammer*
VardaValar1: *kerrrr-thwomp!*

VardaValar1: After-meeting!
VardaValar1: Personal gaming stuff can fire away at will now. :-)
ArPharazonV: In that case I'll throw in my plethora of gaming news.. in pauses during this hearthstone fight, moment
VardaValar1: And the old joke, "Poor Will".
ArPharazonV: Well. Hmm. Starting with Hearthstone, the Plundering Pirates season is over, and the Hallow's End season has begun.
ArPharazonV: Get to rank 20 or better in October, and you'll get a Halloween cardback at the end!
ArPharazonV: Just about over halfway to lvl 29 with all my classes, still continuing, though the card-gathering is slow; most of it is duplicates now.
ArPharazonV: Hmmm flashgaming.
ArPharazonV: You might remember Pixelo, a game I mentioned, and the "nonogram" concept where you solve puzzles by solving hints of rows of numbers along the sides, and make a picture...
ArPharazonV: now I'm not sure how you look on stuff like this, but I ran into a 2-game series wherein you "play" God and the devil as you "recreate" Genesis and Noah's Ark through a series of nonograms. I found it quite funny myself, but then again I'm an atheist ;-)

ArPharazonV: I'm sure you can appreciate the humor though!
ArPharazonV: But if you'd prefer something different.. have a sort of platformer game where you jump platforms on a rollercoaster, simple but challenging.
ArPharazonV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/knigg/epic-coaster
ArPharazonV: Lessee... for Diablo 3, I've been cruising through Act V on my seasonal Barbarian, who's now level 48; you've seen me mention going through Westmarch in the past few days, and now I'm exploring the Bloodmarsh, and the lost Nephalem city of... Corvus? Korvus? Something like that.
ArPharazonV: making good progress!
VardaValar1: Nice :-)
ArPharazonV: For WoW:
ArPharazonV: I was already rank 10 in Brawling, and had defeated the 4 bonus bosses, but this week I finished the brawler's guild by collecting my last few items out in the world to unlock the bosses, and defeating all 12 of them in the Brawler's guild.
ArPharazonV: So now I've gotten all brawler's achievements for this season, and have defeated every possible boss.
ArPharazonV: I know Eonwe said that Brawling is one of the toughest pve solo projects in the game... but being seriously raidgeared, I found it a lot easier than my proving grounds attempts.
ArPharazonV: But they're still good fun, and I liked mastering all the fights :-)
ArPharazonV: Our raids are over now, until patch 6.0; we just didn't have enough attendance to make it past heroic Thok and we don't want to recruit a mass of people just for one objective over a few weeks.
ArPharazonV: So final tally: 10/14 heroic cleared. Not bad, I must say!
ArPharazonV: In 6.0 we'll be getting back to raiding, testing out the new stats, the new abilities, and getting everyone their last heirlooms.
ArPharazonV: Other than that.. hmm... well, I worked a bit on the old Cataclysm dungeon achievements, and been levelling some pets to level 10; but in all, it's just filling time until the patch, and I've even been logging out early if I thought I had nothing more to do.
ArPharazonV: And that's my WoW news. I'll give one more bit though, for something else..
ArPharazonV: You know I'm a My Little Pony fan (a brony as we call ourselves) and in doing a bit of wikia research, tangentially relevant to the recently released movie (recommended to any fan, btw, it was better than the previous one), I found out that the mobile MLP game was ported to Windows 8.1 a few months ago. So next week I'll be looking at updating my Windows 8 to 8.1, and seeing if it's worth playing; possibly give a review on the next meeting :-)
ArPharazonV: It's pretty much a time-wasting points-gathering mobile game though, as many others; build up the town, play minigames, unlock stuff, waste some years of your life unless you throw real money at it. But still, the premise alone makes me at least want to try it out.
ArPharazonV: And that's it for me today! Now I'm gonna go open a hearthstone pack I just earned the last gold I needed for, in my last match just now :-)
karakedi25: congratulations
VardaValar1: Grats!
VardaValar1: Enjoy :-)
ArPharazonV: hehe, thanks.. I'll let you in on the result. Really though, if you do your dailies you can count on at least one pack every 2 days or so, so it's not that special; but still, it's exciting to see if I'm getting some new cards.
ArPharazonV: 3 commons, 2 rares. Is allright, quality-wise... let's see how many duplicates.
ArPharazonV: Oh! My first explosive trap, one of the 4 remaining commons I still had none of.
ArPharazonV: Looks useful too.
ArPharazonV: and the 2 rares are good too! including my first lighting storm... finally some AoE damage for the shaman, been waiting for this one.
ArPharazonV: Just one card to dust. Been a good deck.
VardaValar1: May our upcoming 18th year be a happy, busy, and productive one. :-)
karakedi25: may it be so
VardaValar1: I should mention we've been doing more music in LotRO lately.
VardaValar1: Elrond has been trying out the music system and he and I were having fun with it.
karakedi25: I thought that music had kind of dropped away from our group
ArPharazonV: Ah, good :-) That's something WoW is missing, really!
VardaValar1: He mostly uses
VardaValar1: http://www.lotro-abc.com/
karakedi25: it was fun, especially the classical
VardaValar1: I also like that crafting in LotRO is actually useful.
karakedi25: it's not in other games?
VardaValar1: Everyone has their favorite music. I tend to change types with mood.
VardaValar1: Not nearly as useful crafting in most games.
VardaValar1: No music system anywhere except LotRO.
VardaValar1: I should mention that I tried to play all the games I have on the Anniversary and attempted to visit with Valarites on them. We are all over the place!
VardaValar1: And all are still good people. :-)
VardaValar1: Playing music helps pass time when waiting on a group to get together too. The instance finder has stopped a lot of the most boring waiting though.
VardaValar1: Most use the Specific to run with a group of their choosing. The general queue one is almost unused.
AriehnV: yeah for rp moody songs are really great company .. balads or even filk stuff
AriehnV: while for dungeons questing and bgs metal rocks for me ^^
VardaValar1: In real life for personal music-making, I like ballad style, filk mostly.
VardaValar1: Elrond likes ACDC
AriehnV: you ll know Heather Dale then eh?
VardaValar1: Mostly we make our own filk, heh
AriehnV: but you heard of her?
VardaValar1: Celtic music
VardaValar1: Lot of original stuff, I think?
AriehnV: wait i ll find a few links
AriehnV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cs9hFbcLzqs&list=PLF2F3C575B4B39CAD
AriehnV: she sang a few of Valdemars songs in corporation witrh Mercedes Lackey .. and a really great Darkover themed song "The Horsettamer's daughter* which is 15 minutes long ^^
VardaValar1: I just got told I'm going to have to get up at 3am.
karakedi25: ewwww
AriehnV: yikes
ArPharazonV: For me.. that'd be in 11 minutes ;-)
VardaValar1: It's possbile the transcript will not go up until I get back. Being told to go to bed, pack first of course. But I'm fast
AriehnV: and for ime in one hours and ten minutes soo actually i had off to bed
VardaValar1: Phar, maybe you should consider some zzzz's too. :-)
VardaValar1: Rest well folks and thanks for coming!
karakedi25: and I'm off for more raiding :-)
karakedi25: namarie all
VardaValar1: Wish I could, heh.
VardaValar1: Namarie
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
AriehnV: have fun and be safe all NamarieQ!
karakedi25 has left the room.
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Well, in that case I'll save and send transcript now then :-)
VardaValar1: okies
