AriehnV: Eonwes shifts have changed as you know so he cant be here for meetings either ,
Varda wasnt sure whether she would be able to attend for the next few weeks as well so she asked me to chair meetings instead until she is available again
[Note: Should be able to make most times.]
AriehnV: I hope that doesnt scare you off ;-)
ArPharazonV: Well, since we've basically delayed for an hour, she might show up.
karakedi25: why should it?
AriehnV: aye just joking Indis
AriehnV: my condolences to Elwing V and Deepgrover T .. seems their father was involved in making pictures of Deepgrovers artwork [Note: DeepGroover-(T)builds and paints award-winning models] and Varda put some on her member page [Note: DeepGroover's Valar art page is also used to illustrate some articles, as well as the beginning page for the site: http://valarguild.org]
ArPharazonV: Aye, my condolences too!

AriehnV: Gaming:
AriehnV: has anything been played by anyone apart from LotrO and WoW?
ArPharazonV: Bit more flashgaming. Still digging away in Glean, besides a few more games not worth mentioning.
ArPharazonV: I believe My Little Investigations is planned on coming out this spring, so that's something I'm looking forward to!
ArPharazonV: And that's it for me.
ArPharazonV: Oh, let me check if there's anything new for Starcraft II or D3.
AriehnV: I myself played a bit Diablo three in fact
AriehnV: started a new demon hunter after the bigt patch on Wednesday
AriehnV: they introduced new graphics , some new features and added stuff in areas .. you also can level up to level 100 i think
AriehnV: before Reaper of Soul goes life
ArPharazonV: D3 news: You now get 50% extra xp if you play until expansion, to prepare people :-) Also, a new article on the Blood March.
ArPharazonV: lvl 100? That would be Paragon?
AriehnV: aye
ArPharazonV: *Blood Marsh
ArPharazonV: And a tv-spot released but it's just scenes from the introduction cinematic.
AriehnV: i like the new flashy graphic
AriehnV: quite fun
AriehnV: and crafting has changed a bit
AriehnV: crafting materials drop in dungeons or in boss fights and you can scavenge normal items not just magical

ArPharazonV: Let's see, Starcraft II's patch 2.1.1 was released this week I think...
ArPharazonV: Oh, and the Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo blogsites have released links to preview the heroes they'll be sending to Heroes of the Storm, the upcoming game. ArPharazonV: And that's all the gaming news I can give you!

ArPharazonV: I've not played D3 for quite a while, but I have pre-ordered the expansion (CE) and I've been following the more important bits of news.
AriehnV: cool :-)
AriehnV: i might preorder it after payday next week
AriehnV: okay that s coverered that

AriehnV: now on to LotrO
AriehnV: Indis
ArPharazonV: Apparently if you pre-order you get extra lewt?
AriehnV: do you have anything?
AriehnV: and yes Phara
AriehnV: i have read that
karakedi25: nothing much other than they hope to get update 13 onto the public test server next week
AriehnV: ah cool
karakedi25: Some quallity of life changes and book 14 of vol. III of the epic. That will be the last book of that volume, and they're planning a vol. IV.
karakedi25: Also changes in the North Downs to make the flow of questing smoother, and possibly the Misty Mountains and the Trollshaws.
karakedi25: That's about it.
AriehnV: i think there were timed runs of Helms Deep with one of the Blizzard Employees on Frinday and streamed on Twitch TV
ArPharazonV: Blizzard?
AriehnV: Sapiens .. one of the lotro forum guys
karakedi25: That was Take the Hobbit to Isengard. One of those for every server. Landroval will be late in the series. The Turbine employee is Sapience (Rick Heaton), the community manager. They're a lot of fun.
AriehnV: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?539143-Hobbits-to-Isengard-Q-A-with-Sapience-not es-on-what-was-said
karakedi25: He also answers a lot of questions in the chat.
karakedi25: See the link Arien posted.
AriehnV: there is a link of what was said at the time
ArPharazonV: Right. Turbine. That makes more sense :-)
AriehnV: oops sorry :-P
AriehnV: i meant Turbine of course
AriehnV: right i myself logged a couple of times into lotro last week
AriehnV: the guardien is at level 62 almost 63 now
karakedi25: making progress
AriehnV: yeah quite fun working the way through southern mirkwood :-)

AriehnV: so any news in WoW Phara?
AriehnV: Menel seems to have returned indeed at least for a month since i have noticed him online a few times and quite active on all his alts :-)
ArPharazonV: Hmm, not really. Been making some progress in archeology. Haven't seen Menel around.
AriehnV: yeah he plays on a different server now
ArPharazonV: Makes sense.
AriehnV: think some rl friends are there
AriehnV: but apart from that i dont have any news from there either
top

AriehnV: and thats it with the business part so lets think about Tolkien :-) Anyone got any idea for a nice Tolkien topic?
AriehnV: or has a quote / passage ready for a Tolkien moment?
ArPharazonV: Not really. Any ideas? Or should we choose a Tolkien game?
AriehnV: Tolkien game sounds great :-)
AriehnV: Tolkien loved to be playful .. a lot of his characters were actually
ArPharazonV: And there's a topic already!
ArPharazonV: Do you have examples of playful characters? :-)
AriehnV: indeed .. i was just thinking the same *giggles*
AriehnV: Tom Bombadil .
. ArPharazonV: Ah yes! Singing and dancing and stomping around in his boots. Always the carefree optimist.
AriehnV: he skipped ... and danced ... and sang .. and treated the one ring like a conjurer might a cheap tirinket
AriehnV: thats one from me :-)
AriehnV: and i can think of at least two others .. but your turn :-)
ArPharazonV: Hmm, I don't suppose we can count Smaug as playful, despite the pleasure he took in flying around and setting fire to things :-)
ArPharazonV: The Elves of Rivendell could be playful, making songs and entertainment and telling stories.
ArPharazonV: Making fun of the dwarves as they arrived.
AriehnV: hehe no .. although he was lured into a sort of riddle game with Bilbo :-)
AriehnV: Smaug i mean#
ArPharazonV: Speaking of riddle games, Gollum could be playful!
AriehnV: indeed
AriehnV: he liked games and riddles
AriehnV: an adventurous nature as well since he liked to explore dark places even as Smeagol
ArPharazonV: Very true.
AriehnV: If you have read the Book of Unfinished Tales and see how it starts and the tales are linked .. our advenurer lands in a place via rainbow bridge in the Hut of Lost Play
AriehnV: (i hope this is the right book i remember there)
ArPharazonV: I have. I was also partially thinking of that when I mentioned the Elves.
ArPharazonV: And it's the Book of Lost Tales.
ArPharazonV: Unfinished Tales is something else :-)
AriehnV: ah right true
AriehnV: Lost Tales then .. well i dont do names :-P
ArPharazonV: That's fair.
AriehnV: okay
AriehnV: Bilbo .. Smaug in brackets and with a cheeky wink .. Gollum .. tom Bombadil .. the elves in Rivendell .. The Hut of Lost Blay in the Book of Lost Tales
AriehnV: any more?
AriehnV: Bergil and the other children who remained in Minas Tirith still played in the time before the actual war started
AriehnV: i think it is mentioned that Pippin watches them play at some point
ArPharazonV: Plenty of Hobbit children, trailing Gandalf's cart and hoping for fireworks.
ArPharazonV: The Hobbits themselves could be rather playful, especially at parties.
AriehnV: indeed :-)
ArPharazonV: Blowing rings of smoke.
ArPharazonV: And Gandalf was playful when he made a little ship :-)
AriehnV: oh Gandalf .. f:-)
AriehnV: yes :-D
AriehnV: i loved that .. nice little trick in the film
AriehnV: *Gandalf my friend, this is a night to remember"
ArPharazonV: hehe
AriehnV: Merry and Pippin stealing the big fireworks ^^
ArPharazonV: Ah, well, if we're gonna count the movie...
ArPharazonV: The drinking contest between Legolas and Gimli was playful too!
AriehnV: the fireworks of Gandalf himself .. apart from being creative i think they must have been
fun to make .. without a playful spirit in him i dont think Gandalf would have been able to make them this way
ArPharazonV: Sounds right.
AriehnV: i think thats about it .. cant think of more
ArPharazonV: Trying to think of people in the Silmarillion, but it all seemed rather dark and serious.
ArPharazonV: How about the dwarves in the Hobbit, bringing all their instruments along?
AriehnV: yes
AriehnV: and the toymakers of Dale!
ArPharazonV: Very true!
AriehnV: Hmm i have a wee passage from the Book of Lost Tales to round this off :-)
AriehnV: or is there anything else to add for now?#
ArPharazonV: I think it'll do for now.
AriehnV: OKAY here goes
AriehnV: " Now he was arriving at the summit of the hills amidst its houses, and stepping as if by chance
he turned aside round a winding lane, till, a little down the western slope of the hill his eye was arrested by a tiny dwelling, whose many windowes were curtained snugly, yet only so , that a most warmly and delicious light, as if of hearts content within, looked forth. Then his heart yearned for kind company, and the desire for wayfaring died in him - and impelled by a great longing, he turned aside at this cottage doorr
AriehnV: .and asking one, who openened the door what might be the name of this house and who dwelt therein.
And it was said to him that this was Mar Vanwa Tyalieva, or the Cottage of Lost Play, and the name he wondered greatly." AriehnV: quote finish :-)
AriehnV: horrible sentene construction and punctuation if you ask me but still genious ;-)
ArPharazonV: Ah yes, very nice :-) Certainly embodying the playfulness in Tolkien's stories, this Cottage.
ArPharazonV: It's always interested me how the tale grew in the telling from the simple cottage, to thousands of years of history and war.
AriehnV: Thats what happens with stories and imaginary worlds
AriehnV: they very often start from a single event , a single thought
AriehnV: The same way roleplaying works
ArPharazonV: It's also often how the world changes :-)
AriehnV: you start a character . you have one idea for him or her and suddenly when you play her she develops and suddenly has adventures and before you know it you landed in five hours rp instead of the intended ten or fifteen ;-)
AriehnV: fiifteen minutes
ArPharazonV: It's how my WoW character biographies start too!
AriehnV: and you come back to this character again and again and again :-D and so they develop
AriehnV: think Tolkien would have loved rp :-)
top

AriehnV: oh after meeting .. plays flute instead of gavel and ends with a tremolo

ArPharazonV: Couldn't find the gavel, eh?
AriehnV: nah got lost amongst all the games and rockets and fibs and squids :-)
ArPharazonV: *whacks table with a stick* now it's aftermeeting, then! Gotta have a gavel of some kind.
AriehnV: *giggles and hangs balloon on Pharas stick*
ArPharazonV: *bounces balloon-on-stick on the table* Now that sounds better.
AriehnV: :@:D
karakedi25: time to go offline. Namarie!
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
karakedi25 has left the room.
AriehnV: Namarie
AriehnV: Namarie for now :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie, belatedly!
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Phar :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Just landed and made it to the house in Arizona.
VardaValar1: Thanks for being here!
ArPharazonV: We had Arien and Indis too, Indis left about an hour ago and Arien half an hour.
VardaValar1: Very good! Glad they came.
VardaValar1: In WoW?
ArPharazonV: Nah, went back for a bit during aftermeeting, to finish one daily, but now I'm just browsing :-)
VardaValar1: Fun :-)
VardaValar1: Ok, guess I'll head on out. Just had to stop by. :-)
VardaValar1: Namarie for now!
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
ArPharazonV: Oh, and my condolences.
VardaValar1: Thank you. It's a very close-knit group, so it was good to be able to make it there.
VardaValar1 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
