VardaValar1: He's working on it now.
ArPharazonV: Yup, he contacted me about 45 minutes ago to ask about the meeting. But I didn't think to check his version ;-)

VardaValar1: Happy to say that Daddy TwoFoot-(V) has been around again, gaming with us a bit in LotRO.
VardaValar1: Tried to invite your Lady Gilraen, but no group chat option shows on her name.
VardaValar1: Any other membership news?
GwaihirValar: she's on her IPad I believe right now - so I don't think chats work
VardaValar1: That explains it.
VardaValar1: Morwe is online too.
karakedi25 has entered the room.

ArPharazonV: Aiya!

VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: Two new pictures are up on our Tolkien Site.
VardaValar1: Both have the idea of fighting, but one is a caster and one is a melee. :-)
VardaValar1: This one is of Gandalf by The Bohemian Weasel-(T), when he says Dawn take you all!
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/BohemianWeasel/characters/Gandalf/ hobbit-2013-gandalf-dawn.jpg
VardaValar1: The other is a Wild Man model, by DeepGroover-(T):
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/art/gallery/DeepGroover/WildMan/WildMan.htm
ArPharazonV: Wild Men, living in Mirkwood...
ArPharazonV: would those be the Eorlinga or the Beornings?
VardaValar1: The Wild Men mentioned living in the area of Mirkwood.
ArPharazonV: Neither of those?
VardaValar1: I was not certain if they were a separate group from the Beornings, and need to look that up.
AriehnV: no i am fairly sure the older the ones the kind Ghan-buri- ghans lot belonged to
VardaValar1: They seemed to be mentioned as two different groups after the battle in Mirkwood, when they were given land there.
ArPharazonV: The Druedain? Did they make it to Mirkwood?
VardaValar1: These are not Ghan-buri-ghan's pukel men.
VardaValar1: Different set of wild men, I think. I could be wrong.
AriehnV: ah must be the earlier men .. do you remember the story i wrote? "Bonds without hope"?
VardaValar1: That's definitely something to look into.
AriehnV: where was Lond Daer again?
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authors/Arien/stories/BondsWithoutHope.htm
VardaValar1: That's the story by Arien.
VardaValar1: Backing up for a second. Indis has some membership news. Go ahead, Indis.
karakedi25: Just wanted to mention that my household has increased by one.
ArPharazonV: Lond Daer.. oh, Vinyalonde, that's on the westcoast.
ArPharazonV: Congrats Indis! I think!
VardaValar1: A cat? :-)
karakedi25: what else?
AriehnV: congratulations indeed :-D
Shaggyjoe: Congrats indeed!
VardaValar1: Congratulations. :-)
karakedi25: adopted through a very splendid cat rescue operation called 4Paws.
Shaggyjoe: I'm waiting to get a house and get out of my Apartment before I get a pet, the deposit is insane.
ArPharazonV: Congratulations then :-) And well done!
karakedi25: He's a delightful 2.5-year-old brown tabby, and a real snugglebug.
VardaValar1: Some people abuse the pet privilege, so everyone is penalized.
Shaggyjoe: Hard not to get one though, walked into petsmart and they have an adoption area with some quite spunky looking siamese mixes.
Shaggyjoe: Aye
VardaValar1: Oh that sounds fun.
karakedi25: This agency really vets the applicants, including a home visit.
karakedi25: And they checked me out with my veterinarian.
karakedi25: Anyway, so much for my news.
AriehnV: nice one :-)
VardaValar1: Thank you, Indis. Lovely news. :-)

VardaValar1: Gaming is up next. :-)
VardaValar1: Any non-WoW, non-LotRO gaming this past week by any of you?
ArPharazonV: Yupper.
Shaggyjoe: Hearthstone, Diablo 3, League of Legends, Dragon Age Origins, D&D 3.5 (pen and paper at work, lol) ...
ArPharazonV: More flashgaming, though nothing really special; but it did come to my attention that a game on my waiting list is going to be taken down on september 30th, so I'll be trying to get the badges for that one in time ;-)
ArPharazonV: Also Hearthstone, yes, not all heroes at 26 yet but most, and the ones remaining are very close to it. So who knows, tonight?
ArPharazonV: And the Construct Quarter was released this week, with the final endwing coming in a few days.
ArPharazonV: Frostwyrm Lair, that's what it'll be called.
ArPharazonV: To be honest I thought the Construct Quarter was a bit tougher than the previous ones, which means the Lair should be even more interesting!
[Note from the Valar Guild Games Site by Eonwe includes the link:
The Curse of Naxxramas: Construct Quarter is now open.]
ArPharazonV: As for D3...
ArPharazonV: They had a preview for the Seasons this week, http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/blog/15198713/patch-210-preview-seasons-15-08-2014 and even though I wasn't really interested in them so far, in going through the blogpost, I came across a mention of a transmogrification set which is exclusive to season-players, which one piece of it coming every season;
ArPharazonV: if you get max level during that season you'll unlock the item for all your game-modes.
ArPharazonV: So being the collector that I am, I think I'll have to give this thing a try after all :D
ArPharazonV: Seasons is the new term for a ladder-system, by the way.
VardaValar1: Thanks, didn't know.
ArPharazonV: And myeah, that's the non-wow news I've got this week.
VardaValar1: Thanks :-)
    [Note: from the Games Site:
      Diablo 3 news:
The 2.0.1 PTR patch notes have been updated.
Two preview blogs have been posted, one on Seasons and The Vault.]
      StarCraft 2 news:
See the latest installment of the Science Corner: Intruder Detected.
      Heroes of the Storm news:
Three new heroes were announced at Gamescon. ]

VardaValar1: Gelmir, go ahead
Shaggyjoe: Sorry, I was just going to say I popped on and had a chat with Eonwe on wow.
Shaggyjoe: Seems a lot of people were not happy with MoP. [Note: Mists of Pandaria, introducing pandas as a race and monks as a class.]
Shaggyjoe: Anywho, glad to see everyone is still gaming!
VardaValar1: Glad to hear you got to see Eonwe. :-)
VardaValar1: He works during meetings now and we miss his chat.
Shaggyjoe: Aye, unfortunate but one must pay the bills.
VardaValar1: Have to support our gaming habit with money. :-)
VardaValar1: You had a batch of games you like to play?
Shaggyjoe: Oh I'm all over the place with my gaming, I've got steam and play a few games there, couple turn-based strategy games, going back to some older RPG's, I play almost all the blizzard games here and there.
Shaggyjoe: Aye, mostly have just recently come back to pc gaming.
Shaggyjoe: I've been working at an IT job for a year now. Moving on up. I hope to propose to my GF this fall.. (Shhh)
VardaValar1: Ohhh!
VardaValar1: She may read it here!
ArPharazonV: Don't let her read this then.
Shaggyjoe: Ha, she's on her computer playing HS and looking at stuff on pinterest.
karakedi25: It's a seekrit!
VardaValar1: oh gang. I have to go now.
Shaggyjoe: we've been openly discussing it but the specifics, of course, are not known to her.
VardaValar1: Arien, your gavel, m'lady!
Shaggyjoe: Was a pleasure, Varda.
ArPharazonV: Namarie, Varda!
ArPharazonV: And have fun.
AriehnV: Namarie Varda
Shaggyjoe: Namarie
GwaihirValar: farewell
VardaValar1: Bless you all. :-)
VardaValar1 has left the room.
AriehnV: so i hear i have been handed the gavel and you ll have to do with me ;-)
AriehnV: thats it then i take for non WoW , non LotrO gaming

AriehnV: has any of you news on those two then ? lets start with WoW :-)
ArPharazonV: Hmmyep.
ArPharazonV: Warlords of Draenor's release date has been officially announced this week, together with the intro cinematic, and the final contents of the Collector's Edition.
Shaggyjoe: I was watching some quite interesting videos on it.
ArPharazonV: Also included in this week's news, a new animated segment about an Iron Horde warlord, which is the start of a series like the Burdens of Shaohao in the past.
ArPharazonV: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/blog/15053029/warlords-of-draenor%E2%84%A2-launches-1311-watch-the-cinematic-lords-of-war- part-1-now-14-08-2014
ArPharazonV: that should condense a lot of the info about the new expansion
ArPharazonV: Cinematic's in there too.
Shaggyjoe: I am sorry to interrupt, it would appear that dinner is ready to be picked up, I must take my leave.
ArPharazonV: Enjoy!
ArPharazonV: Feel free to stay in the room and return afterwards.
AriehnV: all right thanks for joining us Gelmir :-)
AriehnV: enjoy
AriehnV: of course you are welcome
karakedi25: *
karakedi25: wave*
ArPharazonV: Personally, I've now pre-ordered the Collector's Edition, and inspired by the new expansion and the cinematic, I've embarked on a research project wherein I'm trying to list all the books and comics and short stories etc in the order of publication, so I know where to find the old lore I want to look up again :-)
ArPharazonV: In-game, I've gotten another item on the Timeless Isle, only a few more to go ;-)
AriehnV: nice one :-)
ArPharazonV: And that's it for me!
[Note: insert of WoW news from Eonwe's Valar Guild Games Site:
A new Artcraft has been released on Dem Trolls, Mon.
A blog has also been posted on Group Finder changes: Premade Groups: Looking for Adventure.
Last, but not least, the release date for Warlords of Draenor was announced: November 13th. Follow the link to see the Cinematic. Check out the goodies in the Collector's Edition too. Also, get an idea of whats coming in the pre-expansion patch in the blog Prepare for Battle: The Pre-Expansion Iron Horde Excursion.]

karakedi25: Not much new in LotRO. Update 14 is still going strong and has brought a lot of people back into the game, and a number of new players as well.
karakedi25: My lore-master is at level-cap and is fairly well geared; I'm building up my warden next.
karakedi25: Not much else to say right now, unless there are questions.
AriehnV: thank you Indis :-)
top

AriehnV: then we can go to Tolkien :-) do you have a topic you are interested in or would like to discuss?
ArPharazonV: Not particularly.
ArPharazonV: You?
AriehnV: i have a sugesstion from Varda :-)
ArPharazonV: Sure!
AriehnV: The fight between good and evil in Lotr is something that stands out as one of the main topics. But there are different ways of doing that .different characters , different races .. so how does each we can think of do that?
AriehnV: do you understand the question?
ArPharazonV: So the different ways good and evil come into conflict?
AriehnV: the different ways good and evil fight each other or rather the evil is fought :-)
AriehnV: goodies and baddies .. not all fight necessarily with the sword or bowe
AriehnV: there are other ways mentioned in LotR
ArPharazonV: One can fight evil with words. Gandalf didn't do much fighting until the end, but he was of great value in inspiring the free peoples and preparing them for battle.
ArPharazonV: And as the Hobbits and, in a way, the Elves did, sometimes the way to fight evil is to just lead your happy lives :-)
AriehnV: yes what simple ways were that?
ArPharazonV: Preserve the land, tend your fields and homes, don't let the shadow come over you.
ArPharazonV: Anything to add? :-)
karakedi25: don't forget song and music
AriehnV: food , song , .. song plays a great role actually in fighting evil and exactly :-)
AriehnV: great Indis
AriehnV: stories , Poetry
ArPharazonV: Hmm, yes, song's even been known to fight evil in a more active way, in Middle-Earth.
AriehnV: can you find examples where song especially played a role in a fight against evil :-)?
AriehnV: you can go outside LotR now
karakedi25: Luthien, of course
ArPharazonV: Sauron's tower in the tale of Beren and Luthien, where.... *looks up name
ArPharazonV: Finrod! That's the one.
ArPharazonV: Where Finrod faced Sauron in song.
ArPharazonV: Unfortunately, Sauron's song of power won, I think?
karakedi25: Frodo in the tower of Cirith Ungol
karakedi25: Let us not forget the Ainulindale itself
AriehnV: indeed the different themes interweaving
AriehnV: Eru worked all the different melodies into a powerful tune and used even Morgoths disharmonies to make a more beautiful and powerful song
ArPharazonV: Very useful!
AriehnV: i think there was another song contest before or after Finrod ..
AriehnV: i cant remember exactly
ArPharazonV: Luthien brought Morgoth to sleep with song and an enchanted cloak, I believe.
AriehnV: Maedhros against Morgoth himself ?
karakedi25: OK, I need to leave now. Namarie, all.
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
karakedi25 has left the room.
Shaggyjoe: Namarie!
AriehnV: Naarie
Shaggyjoe: I have returned.
AriehnV: Namarie
ArPharazonV: Aiyata :-)
AriehnV: and welcome Back :-)
ArPharazonV: As for Maedhros and song, all I remember is that Fingon found Maedhros hanging from the cliff-face through song, and managed to cut him free.
AriehnV: we are discussing ways in Middleearth the fight between good and evil took form
AriehnV: and did of course come up with song used as weapon against evil
AriehnV: as well as simple things as food , cooking , stories . well one other major weapon was mentioned which i would like to name or have named before wrapping this up :-)
ArPharazonV: Stealth?
ArPharazonV: Frodo and Sam sneaking through with a sneaky plan to sneakily take out Sauron?
AriehnV: no not really a weapon but a ruse :-)
AriehnV: i meant light
AriehnV: Light chasing away the darkness of Pelennor .. the way Frodo and Sam used the stone of Galadriel agains Shelob
AriehnV: and Sam in the orc tower
ArPharazonV: Ah, like that.
ArPharazonV: Something gets in the way? Blind 'em!
AriehnV: aye :-) like that
AriehnV: i think that has exhausted that topic anyway i am sure Eonwer or Varda could probably think of something but it s all i can think of
ArPharazonV: Maybe!
Shaggyjoe: Quite interesting.
AriehnV: oh fire .. .. fire
ArPharazonV: We could pose it to Varda next week :-)
ArPharazonV: Fire?
AriehnV: Aragorn used it to fend off the dark riders at Weafthertop
AriehnV: Elrond roused the Bruinen to drown their steeds adn rob them of their bodies
ArPharazonV: Fire and water.
ArPharazonV: The elements saw a lot of use!
AriehnV: and dont forget the sun that turned the Trolls to stone when they quarreled over ways to cook 12 dwarfs and a burrahobbit ;-)
AriehnV: yes indeed another mention of the elements .. Caradhras ... the stormgiants , the way snowstorms were used to block the fellowships crossing of caradhras via the mountain
ArPharazonV: Oh yes, you helped too! On Fingolfin's march as well.
AriehnV: *raises eyebrows curiosly"
ArPharazonV: Shining in their backs, driving Morgoth's forces into hiding..
ArPharazonV: Making the flowers appear!
AriehnV: ah i see i cant remember that one but very good
AriehnV: still "takes a ray and forges it into a gavel that flashes brightly"
ArPharazonV: *covers eyes*
top

AriehnV: *bangs against Silpions boat* Aftermeeting :-)
AriehnV: Namarie all!
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie Arien!
ArPharazonV: Yay, all Hearthstone classes on 26.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
