My Little Pony
World of WarCraft
Lord of the Rings Online
You have just entered room
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: baby so 1H typing
ArPharazonV: LFR (one boss to go) so half busy :P
VardaValar1: plenty time
ArPharazonV: Allright, done :-)
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: won't be able to talk much--raiding in BG
karakedi25: Barad Guldur to you, Ar :-)
ArPharazonV: Ah :-)
ArPharazonV: Not a battleground, then!
karakedi25: it's a battleground, culminating with the Nazgul who runs
VardaValar1: It's a big instance run, very fun. :-)
VardaValar1: Invites sent
VardaValar1: Baby now in Eowyn's hands, swapped for supper. ;-)
sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: We made it, we few, we proud, we Valarites. yay!
VardaValar1: Still digging through Faramir's big house for their copy
of the Silmarillion.
karakedi25: you can get it for kindle, not too expensive
Iryenth has entered the room.
VardaValar1: First I have to get a Kindle. :-)
VardaValar1: Aiya Gilraen!
VardaValar1: Are you keeping those Rangers and Elves in line while you
VardaValar1: Any non-WoW, non-LotRO gaming this past week?
VardaValar1: Sauron and Gimli found another person for the Pathfinder
game so it's still going without me, thank Eru. :-)
VardaValar1: Fire away, Phar.
ArPharazonV: The flashgaming
that I do every week, but nothing special there... but I have been
playing a lot of Hearthstone again.
VardaValar1: Fun or just for the side help?
ArPharazonV: Finally defeated (and hence unlocked) all the classes; I
could've done that at any time in practice mode against the AI, but I
wanted it to be against players :-)
ArPharazonV: And reached rank 20 in ranked play, so I'll have my
card-back at the end of this season!
ArPharazonV: And since then I've just been levelling all the classes to
unlock their basic cards.
VardaValar1: Busy busy
ArPharazonV: Well I'm not saying it's going very fast, but still :-)
ArPharazonV: Also, new content has been announced for Hearthstone.
ArPharazonV: A new Adventure Mode is coming, a single-player mode, with
one of WoW's raids that's been fitted into the cardgame, with new cards
to unlock and bosses to fight.
ArPharazonV: It's Naxxramas, for those who remember it; 5 seperate
wings, the first free, the rest will be released in the weeks after
that and purchaseable for real money, or gold you earn in-game.
VardaValar1: I remember Nax
ArPharazonV: Not sure how much gold it'll be, but I'm tempted to start
saving up already.
VardaValar1: In-game gold? Now that's interesting.
ArPharazonV: In-game gold in Hearthstone, that is. The gold you get
when you win matches or complete daily quests, and which you normally
use to buy booster packs of cards.
ArPharazonV: And in other news!
AriehnV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: The sun just rose!
AriehnV: Aiya all:-)
Little Investigations, the My Little Pony fangame based on the Ace Attorney investigative series of
games, was released this week. If you're a fan of either (or both!) you
might want to try it.
VardaValar1: Good to see you. Phar was telling us gaming news. :-)
VardaValar1: Not in litigation then? Good to hear.
ArPharazonV: It's only one case so far, but they're working on others,
and they're also working on an editor that'll allow people to make
their own cases. Could become quite a large number of cases that way,
ArPharazonV: Hmm, no, they've escaped the trademark lawyers so far. And
even if they get shut down *now*, we'll still have at least one case ;-)
VardaValar1: Smart, using the player base like StarCraft did.
ArPharazonV: And Warcraft III before that.
ArPharazonV: Or after. When was Starcraft I?
is the link where you can download the game (freely!).
ArPharazonV: Also, next weekend will be another open server test for Legends of Equestria. Not sure if
much'll be different from the last one a few months back, but I'll be
playing it again!
ArPharazonV: And that's it from me!
VardaValar1: SC March 31,1998 according to:
VardaValar1: Grats on getting to play!
VardaValar1: Came out after WarCraft 2
ArPharazonV: Yep, and before Warcraft 3. But 2 had a map editor too.
VardaValar1: Aye. SC had the advantage of WC's going first.
VardaValar1: Phar and Arien, any WoW news?
VardaValar1: First one to answer gets to go first. :-)
ArPharazonV: Saw Arien in WoW, we chatted a bit as we each did our
AriehnV: Thats right :-)
ArPharazonV: And I did my last Celestial Tournament! I've now done it
10 times and gotten all 4 pets. It was a pain to prepare for, and
required some luck to do, but now it's all won!
AriehnV: i was playing a bit on the blush .. ;-)
AriehnV: go on Phar :-)_
ArPharazonV: I've also been doing archeology again; still no last
pristine (over 50 solves now) but I did buy a bunch of Tol'vir
fragments with the proceeds, and got the last archeology pet I was
missing from that! A Crawling Claw.
ArPharazonV: So it was good for something, anyway!
ArPharazonV: Allright, I think that's it, Arien can continue :-)
AriehnV: oh i havent done that much apart from using the blush a bit ..
trying to grind some timeless gear and coins to grind for usuable
Weapons .. meh i ve got toothsticks that dont hurt a cow in JadeForest
certainly not on the isle ;-)
AriehnV: the rest of the gear is getting ther but she needs weapons i
AriehnV: else that was it from me :-)
ArPharazonV: Have you considered LFR?
ArPharazonV: Some weapons might drop in there.
ArPharazonV: Unless you think you won't have the dps to not be kicked
out by disgruntled raiders?
AriehnV: well aye thats one thing Phari
AriehnV: i am a bit afraid of that
AriehnV: theres some stuff in the lower raids , but i am not sure
whether i ll survive even one .. due to being kicked ^^
ArPharazonV: They won't kick *that* fast, I think, certainly not in the
lower raids. I can't imagine it being worth the wait for a replacement.
VardaValar1: Anything else for WoW?
AriehnV: not from my side
ArPharazonV: Nor from me
VardaValar1: Update 13 expansion is coming out Monday. :-)
VardaValar1: Expect the servers to be down longer than they say,
because something always has an unexpected problem.
VardaValar1: While the update is being put up Monday, they will have
the release notes up.
VardaValar1: We also have this news on the Update:
VardaValar1: The Breaking of Isengard.
VardaValar1: Lots of ents and water and Isengard. :-)
VardaValar1: We have a few people who were in the beta.
VardaValar1: Indis is one of those. Ioreth as well.
karakedi25: The release notes will probably be similar to the ones for
Bullroarer (test server)
ArPharazonV: Hmm, does LotRO have dynamic terrains for these kind of
events? Rising water, etc?
ArPharazonV: Because even WoW hasn't managed anything like that yet.
karakedi25: we'll also get more of Fangorn forest
karakedi25: yes, we do get those in some instances, but not on landscape
VardaValar1: We have changing instance technology so that it can look
different as we go along
ArPharazonV: Well, WoW has that, but it's all in phases. From one
static situation to the next, if you know what I mean. Nothing visibly
karakedi25: there's an instance in Isengard where acid rises several
ArPharazonV: Oh! I'm mistaken. There's one bossfight where lava rises
and falls and you swim through it to reach platforms that you otherwise
AriehnV: oh the Ony fight in Blackrock something?
AriehnV: the last one with Nefi?
ArPharazonV: Blackwing Descent, yes, with Nefarian and Onyxia.
VardaValar1: We have to get out of the way of the rising and lowering
acid, while gaming, aye.
ArPharazonV: I've always wanted to see a sinking tower fight, where you
have to work your way up flooding stairs while fighting a boss, and if
you fall behind..
ArPharazonV: But nothing like that has come up yet!
karakedi25: I totally hate the Acid Wing.
karakedi25: (of Isengard)
karakedi25: I don't have anything more to say about lotro atm.
VardaValar1: Thank you, Indis. That was interesting.
VardaValar1: Any more comments, suggestions, etc about any business
topic? Also feel free to whisper any Tolkien topic you'd like brought
VardaValar1: No new rp posts during this past week.
VardaValar1: Indis is in a very active part of a LotRO instance at the
VardaValar1: Whoever is available for Tolkien please type Manwe.
ArPharazonV: Right. Right. Maybe it's time for more post-writing and
less Hearthstone-ing in the next week?
VardaValar1: I'll take Tolkien Site writing in place of it, maybe. ;-)
VardaValar1: So Phar and me. :-)
VardaValar1: How about two rounds of Tolkien trivia, any book, any name
of anything, matching the last letter of the previous word.
VardaValar1: Since the most recent book word was Manwe, we can start
with E. :-)
VardaValar1: If we want more than two rounds, we can keep going.
ArPharazonV: ...we're gonna run out of Ns if I'm just going with what I
thought of first.
ArPharazonV: sorry, my bad, wanna back up?
VardaValar1: Sure, go ahead
ArPharazonV: there you go :-)
VardaValar1: Ioreth :-)
VardaValar1: ahh, hiya! Good name. ^^
VardaValar1: Did you already put down the Lieutenant? Maybe waiting on
VardaValar1: We'll go with Indis.
karakedi25: nope, just about to enter his arena
VardaValar1: Good luck!
karakedi25: and then my participation will be vvery limited
karakedi25: I'm the power source, and no way to draw it to replenish
mine, so I'll be busy
karakedi25: plus staying alive, of course
VardaValar1: Aye, no worries. Go get that nazgul and his huge mount too.
ArPharazonV: Nan Elmoth
VardaValar1: heh, Phar's right. We need to make a list of N names on
ArPharazonV: So many things starting with Nan
AriehnV: .. stupid N at the end
VardaValar1: We went a few rounds over two. :-) Would we like to call
VardaValar1: We have some nice suggestions here for future articles.
ArPharazonV: Lorien- no, wait... Lothlorien- no, also ends with n...
VardaValar1: That's ok
ArPharazonV: No. I'm gonna find something. Anything that starts with L
and doesn't end with n.
VardaValar1: Legolas is taken. :-)
ArPharazonV: Hmm.. close enough.
VardaValar1: Reach for the stars.
VardaValar1: ok, at this point, we might like looking at our Tolkien
Encyc A-Z version.
VardaValar1: Click the letter on the left for a list on the right.
ArPharazonV: Hmm... what's that LotRO server you're playing on again?
VardaValar1: It's an eagle. :-)
ArPharazonV: Right, there you go!
AriehnV: . probably wrongly spellt
ArPharazonV: It's missing an a somewhere, but good enough!
ArPharazonV: I think so. Or is it Akallabeth?
VardaValar1: oh, that looks better
VardaValar1: (used earlier) but ok. Luinil
ArPharazonV: Oh, sorry, missed it.
ArPharazonV: Could do something else if you want.
VardaValar1: Sure, go ahead
VardaValar1: List is getting long!
ArPharazonV: sticking to the theme, Radagast :-)
VardaValar1: (also used) Thror
ArPharazonV: Darn it, I need to go over the list again it seems.
VardaValar1: It is getting unwieldy. Let's stop and let you do
Hearthstone or get some sleep. ;-)
VardaValar1: Thanks for playing!
VardaValar1: heh,non n endings are tough!
AriehnV: *nods sagely*
VardaValar1: Isengard.Sorry, got distracted
VardaValar1: *raises hammer*
VardaValar1: *moves finger out of the way*
karakedi25: The Lieutenant and his Fell-beast are no more.
Unfortunately I didn't win the Unwelcome Mat.
ArPharazonV: You killed a Nazgul?
karakedi25: We did.
ArPharazonV: One of the 9?
karakedi25: 11 of us.
ArPharazonV: So... how does that fit the lore? Is he gonna come back?
karakedi25: It's normally a 12-person raid, but we were short one. We
had a lot of dps.
karakedi25: Next time we run the raid, he'll be there.
ArPharazonV: Yes, but that's not what I mean :-)
karakedi25: Technically we didn't kill him, we defeated him.
karakedi25: And in the game, we don't actually die; we're defeated and
dragged away from the field of battle to revive in a safe place, with
karakedi25: but we refer to it as dying
AriehnV: well i am heading to bed friends :-)
AriehnV: good night
ArPharazonV: Hmm. You do die in WoW, but then you can travel back to
your body as a spirit. Or get resurrected by an npc at the graveyard
who tells you your journey's not over, or something like that.
AriehnV: Namarie :-)
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazonV: Decapitated? Soul-drained? Sucked into a voidzone?
Exploded into a million pieces? Doesn't matter, just go back to your
VardaValar1: Namarie Arien :-)
VardaValar1: Super-glue and duct tape, the healer's secret.
karakedi25: Ar, as a Tolkienite, I'm surprised you don't play lotro.
ArPharazonV: Eh. I'm too much of a completionist to be able to spend
time in 2 large-scale MMOs, and I'm already spending too much time in
WoW as it is. I haven't touched Guild Wars in months.
ArPharazonV: Maybe if LotRO had come out *before* WoW...
ArPharazonV: Besides, I grew up (Well, if growing up can start in your
teens) with Warcraft-games and Tolkien-books, so I might as well stick
with Warcraft-games and Tolkien-books instead of the other way around
VardaValar1: Or do WoW and LotRO? :-)
ArPharazonV: *points up to first line*
ArPharazonV: I couldn't handle it, really.
VardaValar1: Completionist Understood.
ArPharazonV: I'm just terrible at focusing on two massive games at the
ArPharazonV: And neither should be played *too* casually.
VardaValar1: Still, it's very cool to walk around and find yourself
talking to Saradoc etc. :-)
ArPharazonV: Hah, I can imagine :-)
VardaValar1: You're rightl You'll just have to come *completely* over
to LotRO. ;-)
ArPharazonV: Nice try!
VardaValar1: It had to be done!
VardaValar1: Have a great night! I'm heading out for now.
VardaValar1 has left the room.
Iryenth has left the room.
karakedi25 has left the room.
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
