Before-meeting:
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
ArPharazonV: Aiya
VardaValar1: Aiya Phar. Running back and forth here. O wow, another story just came in while typing this.
ArPharazonV: Hah.
Eonwe Valar has entered the room.
GwaihirValar has entered the room.
Eonwe Valar: Heya.
ArPharazonV: Aiya
GwaihirValar: hey
VardaValar1: Aiya : )
VardaValar1: Thunderstorm warning, heh. They must have noticed the thunder outside and that it's dark at 4pm our time. Pardon if our power and/or internet crashes out.
ArPharazonV: At least timezones are restored again, DST started here :-)
VardaValar1: Maybe that'll help us get together a bit easier. : )
ArPharazonV: hehe
Eonwe Valar: OK, everyone read to begin the meeting? :}
VardaValar1: Eonwe will be chairing, as it's sunny where he is, and I'll try not to pick up his gavel this time. : )
VardaValar1: Go for it!
Eonwe Valar: Elen Sila Lumenn Omentielvo!
Eonwe Valar: Membership:
Eonwe Valar: Happy Easter :}
ArPharazonV: To you too!
VardaValar1: Happy Easter!
Eonwe Valar: Phar already mentioned timezones in Europe are on DST now :}
VardaValar1: (Rain is very good news here, actually. Been way too dry lately.)
ArPharazonV: Or as they put it in the C&H comic, Happy Zombie Jesus Day.
VardaValar1: heh
VardaValar1: Bilbo had that up on one of his screensavers pictures.
VardaValar1: He also has others like an astronaut on the moon woried about his itching nose. (Actually there's a tube they can use for that, but it was funny.)
ArPharazonV: Heh.
VardaValar1: Lots of birthdays lately. My apologies to those not on the News before last meeting.
VardaValar1: Among those: Menelvagor, Nimrodel, and Morwe.
Eonwe Valar: Yeah, that not a description I've found amusing in the past, partly because zombie-ism could easily be seen as a corruption of the concept of resurection.
VardaValar1: Agreed Eonwe, it misses the point with the silliness.
VardaValar1: Other birthdays this last week: Meneldil, Eomer, and some Gwaihir guy. : )
VardaValar1: Gwaihir's birthday was just yesterday!
GwaihirValar: Indeed :-)
ArPharazonV: Grats!
Eonwe Valar: Happy Birthday to all of them :}
GwaihirValar: I have just turned the last mathematically 'perfect' numbered age I will likely reach in this life
ArPharazonV: Eh, I once heard that if something can't be made fun of, it's probably not worth taking seriously.
ArPharazonV: And... that sounds quite depressing, Gwai.
GwaihirValar: Nope, it'll be depressing next year!
ArPharazonV: Heh.
VardaValar1: No worries then. He gets joked about all the time. Just don't try to do that in the Religion of Peace, hehe. And that's enough or too much on that topic.
GwaihirValar: To be fair, the next one is 496 so uh... it's not even that depressing to think I won't reach it
GwaihirValar: lol
GwaihirValar: Not sure I'd wanna live that long!
ArPharazonV: Ahh :-)
Eonwe Valar: It's not about humour, I just think corrupting everything like some people enjoy doing gets old.
VardaValar1: If we can keep our health and wits? Barely enough time to get started.
ArPharazonV: Agreed with Varda, in full (mental) health I could definitely go that far.
ArPharazonV: See more of the world :-)
GwaihirValar: I dunno, but that's a huge discussion that could take hours...
GwaihirValar: so I shan't distract the meeting with it ;-)
GwaihirValar: (especially since I don't have time to see it through heh)
Eonwe Valar: Any other member news?
VardaValar1: Might even get those guitar chords straight by then.
ArPharazonV: Living 500 years? Oh yes, I'd definitely work on any piano and violin skills.
VardaValar1: Imagine what skills the elves could develop in their lifetimes!
ArPharazonV: Learn a few languages too.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, yes!
ArPharazonV: I'd settle for my namesake's 200 years, too, to be honest.
VardaValar1: Until you're 199 and then might say, um, a little more time, please? : )
GwaihirValar: That sort of age range I'd be happy with, I think beyond 200 I'd start to get bored.
ArPharazonV: Probably, Varda, just like my namesake ;-)
VardaValar1: Not me. Too many things to do and learn. And I want to go to the moon and Mars bases at least.
VardaValar1: hehe Phar
GwaihirValar: But, I have to be going - take care folks. Thank you for the birthday wishes :-)
ArPharazonV: Namarie!
Eonwe Valar: Take care Gwaihir :}
GwaihirValar has left the room.
Eonwe Valar: Web:
Eonwe Valar: Go ahead, Varda :}
VardaValar1: Thanks. : )
VardaValar1: Jay of Lasgalen has a cooking horror tale in a series of drabbles that she's still adding to. Another came in just as the meeting started.
VardaValar1: It's set just after Bilbo arrives to live in Rivendell, carrying his mother, Belladonna's, cookbook, which he proceeds to try out on the elves.
VardaValar1: "His Mother's Recipe Book":
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authorsT/JayofLasgalen/stories/HisMothersRecipeBook/JamMaking.htm
VardaValar1: Two drabbles up, and another soon.
VardaValar1: That's my web news for now. : )
VardaValar1: (Rain is really coming down now. Hear the plants squee in delight?)
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}

Eonwe Valar: Gaming:
Eonwe Valar: WoW:
Eonwe Valar: Noblegarden should be underway right now.
VardaValar1: ah cool
ArPharazonV: Actually, I think it starts tomorrow morning for us.
ArPharazonV: Not that there's anything new.
VardaValar1: So about the time the meeting is over?
Eonwe Valar: WoW page says Mar 31 -Apr 6, so I expect it to be going on :}
ArPharazonV: Nah, 10 in the morning I think the calendar said.
ArPharazonV: Well maybe it starts a day earlier in the US?
Eonwe Valar: If you haven't got the pet or mount, or whatever else you may want from the event, now is the time to grab them.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, Wowhead says april 1-8
Eonwe Valar: It's possible, I'm not saying it's going on for you, I'm just saying I expect to see everyone running around hunting eggs when I pop into WoW :}
ArPharazonV: Allright :-)
Eonwe Valar: Darkmoon Faire should be next week.
Eonwe Valar: Hopefully Lothar will be on Stage 5 for the Isle of Thunder by Tuesday.
VardaValar1: Bunny form!
Eonwe Valar: Patch 5.3 is already on the PTR.
AriehnV has entered the room.

Eonwe Valar: LotRO:
VardaValar1: (Aiya Sunshine!)
AriehnV: ai((aiya and happy easter))
VardaValar1: Thanks! Happy Easter to you too. : )
Eonwe Valar: Go ahead, Varda :}
VardaValar1: Okie dokie
VardaValar1: A couple of pieces of news:
VardaValar1: The Lottery is working again!
ArPharazonV: Aiya Arien!
VardaValar1: To use the Lottery, log like you would for the game at:
VardaValar1: http://my.lotro.com/home/
VardaValar1: A new thing is going on now to let players have more of a voice in how the game is made.
ArPharazonV: That sounds risky.
VardaValar1: You can join the new Players' Council or nominate someone for it. Or I guess both.
VardaValar1: They mainly get the chance to be heard, not make final decisions.
VardaValar1: That might help get past the crazy noise of the forums, get to hear that people want a feature to *not* change for instance rather than complaining about it. Complaints are usually the only thing heard.
VardaValar1: That's all my news. : )
Eonwe Valar: Thanks :}
VardaValar1: ^^

Eonwe Valar: Any other gaming news? Now would also be a good time to whisper me Tolkien topics.
VardaValar1: SC2 group has been active.
Eonwe Valar: Nice :}
ArPharazonV: did a bit of flashgaming myself, including the first game in a series of which I'd given a sequel before, but I prefer the sequel anyway ;-)
ArPharazonV: Mostly, though, I've been in WoW; my pet battling has rather accelerated this week.
ArPharazonV: Gotten a bunch of maximum level pets, defeated all the tamers from Outland all the way to Pandaria, and am now working on getting battlestones and levelling more pets for achievements.
ArPharazonV: Got a few titles and item rewards as well :-)
Eonwe Valar: Congrats :}
VardaValar1: Nifty : )
ArPharazonV: And that's it from me.
Eonwe Valar: I guess we'll move into Tolkien then :}
top

Eonwe Valar: Tolkien:
Eonwe Valar: If you're here, say Aiya.
VardaValar1: Aiya
ArPharazonV: Aiya
AriehnV: aiya
AriehnV: Eonwe i have something that might be of interestg
AriehnV: just a piece of info
Eonwe Valar: OK, then go for it :}

AriehnV: the Hobbit DvD and Blueray are coming out 8th of 'April and the extended in fall
VardaValar1: Extended! Woooot!
AriehnV: aye there will be more xtras on that i hear
ArPharazonV: Fall? Nice. I'd heard December.
VardaValar1: Our leaves are still turning in December, ^^
ArPharazonV: Hmm, yes, true. It's late fall until the 21st.
Eonwe Valar: The Hobbit is already here on DVD/Bluray. Should I wait then rather than buy this version?
VardaValar1: Of course we'll be grabbing the theater version too.
VardaValar1: Can't recommend it without seeing it, sorry.
ArPharazonV: I think I'll start with the extended, seems simpler than getting 2 versions.
AriehnV: i ve read its better to wait for trhe xtended blueray
AriehnV: more value for moneyu
AriehnV: so the author of that article wrote
Eonwe Valar: Ok.
VardaValar1: Hey, get both to help support making the movies. ^^
Eonwe Valar: Hehe, there's that :}
AriehnV: thats it from me there
AriehnV: if u want tro continue
Eonwe Valar: Let's do a round of trivia and then bang the gavel.

VardaValar1: Also, is anyone going to meet Fainan in the rp? She's outside the library looking around for Auros.
VardaValar1: or anyone who can help find him.
AriehnV: anyone but Frali :-P
VardaValar1: heh
Eonwe Valar: I haven't had a chance to post recently, my apologies.
AriehnV: would be of interesting if he did t.. how she d try to get rid of him
VardaValar1: No worries. Just a good time to bring it up. : ) Hoping to hear from the others too.
AriehnV: or maybe rather how auros would once he is found
ArPharazonV: Hmm, sure. I was thinking of heading outside anyway.
ArPharazonV: I could wave as I walked by ;-)
VardaValar1: Might get hauled into helping with the search. : )

Eonwe Valar: OK, shall we do a quick round of Trivia? :} Arien, do you happen to have a question?
VardaValar1: (What book or books will the trivia be over?)
Eonwe Valar: Let's stick with LotR this week.
AriehnV: *thinks about a question*
AriehnV: hmmm as the hobbits leave bree towards weather top with Aragorn they have to cross an area .. what area and what does Sam think the inhabitants live by?
ArPharazonV: Ehrr, the bugs. I can't remember their names, all I can think of is "midgets" but that can't be right.
VardaValar1: Marsh, Hobbit blood. : )
VardaValar1: Neeker breekers
VardaValar1: oh!! Midgewater Marsh
ArPharazonV: Midges, that's it.
AriehnV: yes skye s secret weapon against tourists :-D
AriehnV: not trhat it helps .. *smirks*]#
AriehnV: Midgewater Marsh and Hobbitblood is correct
AriehnV: but he also asks .. "what do they live from when they cant get hobbit?"
VardaValar1: Thanks, Phar. Had trouble thinking of Midge, no excuse for it. : )

Eonwe Valar: So it's Phar's turn :}
Eonwe Valar: If Phar has a question :}
ArPharazonV: Hmm, sure.
ArPharazonV: Let's keep it simple.
ArPharazonV: What did Sam buy from a person who he would later throw an apple at?
VardaValar1: Bill the Pony
ArPharazonV: Correct.
Eonwe Valar: Heh, Varda typed faster than me :}
Eonwe Valar: *Hehe
VardaValar1: Typing speed is a lot of it. ^^
VardaValar1: Conciseness often beats me though. : )

Eonwe Valar: My question might not be so simple: Identify the ultimate fate of every Maia we see in LotR.
ArPharazonV: Let's start with which Maiar we see.
ArPharazonV: Gandalf, Saruman, Sauron, Radagast. Bombadil perhaps?
VardaValar1: Death. Gandalf returns to Valinor and comes back. Saruman and Sauron's fear are blown away in the wind of Manwe.
VardaValar1: Radagast and Bombadil may still be around.
Eonwe Valar: For a little bit of simplicity, leave Bombadil off. Call him an enigma and leave it at that :}
VardaValar1: Gandalf the White returns to Valinor too, with the other Ringbearers.
AriehnV: Radagast would not want to leave his "charges* the animals would he?
AriehnV: but for the last battle he d go back there i think
Eonwe Valar: Gandalf - check
Eonwe Valar: Sauron - check
ArPharazonV: Perhaps, if needed. Perhaps with an army of nature with him.
Eonwe Valar: Saruman - check
Eonwe Valar: Radagast - check
Eonwe Valar: But the question is not fully answered :}
ArPharazonV: Hmm. Aragorn does have Maia blood... and the 2 blue wizards are not actually seen in the book.
ArPharazonV: Ah!
ArPharazonV: The Balrog?
VardaValar1: The Ithryn Luin apparently made cults in the east.
ArPharazonV: Slain by Gandalf in the Misty Mountains.
Eonwe Valar: The Balrog - check.
VardaValar1: The Balrog was killed too, by Gandalf, but we don't hear that his fea was blown away or what happened to it.
Eonwe Valar: It's a safe bet it didn't go to Aman :}
VardaValar1: Or what happened to the other 6 Balrogs if any of them were still around.
ArPharazonV: Is it? If anyone could deal with it...
ArPharazonV: The Valar might decide its faith.
VardaValar1: Gandalf might not have noticed the wind. : )
Eonwe Valar: Gandalf was a bit busy dying at the time :}
VardaValar1: The wind might have waited until Gandalf's fea was safel.
VardaValar1: *safe
Eonwe Valar: Plus it's not like it would be an important part of the tale to impart to Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli even if he did see something.
VardaValar1: The Balrogs seemed to have pretty thoroughly thrown in with Melkor. Kind of doubt they had much hope.
VardaValar1: They were under his sway too long.

Eonwe Valar: My question is answered. Varda's turn, if she has a question :}
VardaValar1: ok
VardaValar1: Quickbeam said he was called Quickbeam for being hasty at least two times before agreeing to attack Saruman so soon. What was one of them?
Eonwe Valar: An older ent was asking him a question, and he answered before the other ent was finished.
VardaValar1: Aye : )
VardaValar1: Anyone want to try for the other reason for fun? : )
VardaValar1: Eonwe's was the actual reason for the name.
VardaValar1: He was also known to finish drinking before others had finished wetting their beards.
ArPharazonV: Hmm, didn't recall.
ArPharazonV: Need to read that part again.

VardaValar1: In other news, the latest story just went up:
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.org/varda/Tolkien/encyc/fiction/authorsT/JayofLasgalen/stories/HisMothersRecipeBook/Misunderstan ding.htm
VardaValar1: You heard it here first. : )
VardaValar1: (Being hasty here.)
Eonwe Valar: Breaking News :}
Eonwe Valar: OK, let's bang the gavel here.
Eonwe Valar: *Bangs Gavel*
VardaValar1: *jumps*
VardaValar1: The other bit was extra info from Quickbeam, not the original reason for the name. Pardon.
Eonwe Valar: Happy Easter all, have fun with your families if you're celebrating.
VardaValar1: Brownies will be my next contribution to the family festivities, after Sauron is done with the oven. ^^
VardaValar1: *hands out brownies to all here*
Eonwe Valar: mmmm, brownies.
VardaValar1: hehe
AriehnV: enjoy and thank you
AriehnV has left the room.
VardaValar1: Namarie, Arien. : )
top

Eonwe Valar: Oh, and Aftermeeting: :}
VardaValar1: hehe
VardaValar1: It's official now!
VardaValar1: Thunder stopped. I'm going to peek outside and then see about WoW.
Eonwe Valar: Have fun :}
ArPharazonV: Hmm yes, need to return to WoW too, got some pet battling to do :-)
VardaValar1: Go pets!
ArPharazonV: Planning on levelling my singing sunflower today :-)
VardaValar1: Nifty - attack of the singing sunflower! Go triffid!
ArPharazonV: saving and sending transcript
ArPharazon-V: Planning on levelling my singing sunflower today :)
ArPharazon-V: saved
ArPharazon-V: sent, Namarie
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has left the room.
EonweValar: Quick note for SC2 players. They might want to get in a game soon for the "15 years of Starcraft" Feat of Strength.
EonweValar: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/9369230/Fifteen_Years_in_the_Koprulu_Sector-3_29_2013 for more info.
EonweValar: I think I'll call it here. Take care, good night, sleep well, and have fun :}
EonweValar (Eonwe Valar) has left the room.
