VardaValar1: Aiya Golden One :-)
VardaValar1: Just rolled up to the house, sorry for the delay.
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Killing things in WoW?
ArPharazonV: Nah, logged out about 10 minutes ago. Now trying level 8 of that "when burgers attack" game
ArPharazonV: and it's pretty tough!
ArPharazonV: It's the bacons that give me most trouble ;-)
VardaValar1: *munch*
VardaValar1: Hoping to try that out, sounded amusing.
VardaValar1: Maybe this upcoming week.
VardaValar1 has left the room.
VardaValar1 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Invitations made.

VardaValar1: Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo!
VardaValar1: Membership:
VardaValar1: Happy Father's Day!
ArPharazonV: To you too!
VardaValar1: Eonwe will be working probably for the next six months during meeting time, due to the shift timing.
VardaValar1: Thanks. : )
ArPharazonV: No sign of Arien, and I assume you've invited Menel and Gilraen?
VardaValar1: Hi from Fangorn, father of Sauron, Bilbo, and Eowyn.
ArPharazonV: And Fladrif?
VardaValar1: Aye to all 4.
ArPharazonV: And congrats Fangorn :-)
ArPharazonV: For.. father's day?
ArPharazonV: Not sure where I was going with t hat.
VardaValar1: ^^
top

VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: While checking email while we were talking, I found what appears to be a new story to put up on our site. : )
VardaValar1: Should be coming out during the week.
VardaValar1: Arien just came online.
AriehnV has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Aiya Sunshine : )
VardaValar1: Happy Father's Day over at your house too.
AriehnV: aiya there :-) i was just about to enter
VardaValar1: A quick hand up. Good to see you!
AriehnV: thank you very much :-) but we have no father here i am afraid
AriehnV: i hope youre men had a good day tho :-D
VardaValar1: Yes indeed. German chocolate cake, presents. We went to the beach on the Gulf Coast yesterday, since we couldn't all go today. Very pleasant.

VardaValar1: Gaming:

VardaValar1: LotRO had a long update this past week.
VardaValar1: A couple of people expressed interest in the guild, one is reading the books, and one is considering making an alt to join us.

VardaValar1: Anyone have WoW news?
ArPharazonV: Just plodding along with dailies and rep and stuff.
AriehnV: its been a bit quieter on the wow front from fast levelling the two mages and quite a lot rp before .. so its been a bit of an overload ^^
AriehnV: but still doing some questing and the barren grind and stuff how i feel like at the moment
AriehnV: it will get back to normal soon enough :-)

VardaValar1: Arien, you have some Rift news?
AriehnV: i have been or am try
AriehnV: ing various servers at the moment since the Argent Shard is very overcrowded and a lot spammers worse than Elwyn Forrest chat ^^
ArPharazonV: From Argent Dawn to Argent Shard, eh?
AriehnV: with my bigger High Elf i am trying a German PVP shard and the wee warrior is on an english PVE Shard which is not quite as overcrowded but seems to be quite spammy too , not quite that extreme tho than Argent
AriehnV: hehe i think Rift copied that a bit since Argent is a pve-rp realm or shard
AriehnV: what i like is that you can transfer for free once a week
VardaValar1: That's pretty often.
VardaValar1: That might stop once folks settle down.
AriehnV: aye its quite handy .. once you transfer a character you have to wait a week
AriehnV: i think so since Rift went Free to Play last wednesday
AriehnV: you still can choose to subscribe for extra bonusses i think
VardaValar1: Good to know.
AriehnV: they have introduced a loyalty system
AriehnV: which is based on spending credits which you can buy
AriehnV: like in the lotro store points
ArPharazonV: real money, then?
AriehnV: if you want to you dont have to
AriehnV: its your own choice
VardaValar1: LotRO store Turbine points can be earned in-game or bought with real money. Sounds simiilar.
AriehnV: you get pretty good rewards through participating in world events or closing rifts
AriehnV: and
AriehnV: usually you can use either credits or Planarite which is the in game currency for participating in rifts and invasions
AriehnV: yo and of course you can gain reputation with various factions
AriehnV: link to the gamesite is www.riftgame.com
VardaValar1: Thanks
AriehnV: it can be pretty hectic .. people can either quest and level with dungeons or rifthunting
AriehnV: there are various styles
AriehnV: but best have a look at the site .. i have to try and find my way through the individual features myself :-)
VardaValar1: Alrighty
AriehnV: they have dimensions as well .. like houses
AriehnV: and mounts are available from level 5 onwards . they just cost gold
AriehnV: levelling is fairly easy
AriehnV: There are two factions , guardians and Defiants
AriehnV: Guardians seem to be like the "Good" . comparing it to Alliance on wow
AriehnV: they seem to be more focussed on traditional combat style and culture while the Defiants seem to be more technical and industrial orientated
AriehnV: of course .. they are in clinch with each other and mistrust the other ^^ but interestingly both factions can communicate and participate in the same general chat
VardaValar1: Looks like Rift just got a new area too, with the free to play update, called the Dendrome.
ArPharazonV: Could be quite interesting, I wonder what'd happen if Alliance and Horde could chat.
AriehnV: yip but for that you need the expansion Storm Legion
AriehnV: at least thats how i understand it
VardaValar1: I've chatted between WoW Alliance and Horde with emotes and actions. One Horde guy switched to a small Alliance character just to chat afterwards. : )
AriehnV: aye that can be fun :-) we have used Horde npcs in rp too but you need to be chatting on skype or some such nifty programme :-)
VardaValar1: like...AIM? ;-)
AriehnV: but thats just to give a general idea of the game - Rift i mean - there are so many options and features that i could talk hours about but we dont have the time :-) and its not the place
VardaValar1: That's why you handed us the link, much appreciated.
VardaValar1: Just looking it over, reminds me of both WoW and LotRO.
VardaValar1: since that's what I'm most familiar with.
AriehnV: i think they have gathered the best features of both games and mixed in a shaker with a bit own original ideas
VardaValar1: Bows, magic, swords.
VardaValar1: Any other gaming news?
top

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
ArPharazonV: Gaming news?
VardaValar1: Eonwe has put up the Tolkien trivia game on the Forum! You may begin. It should last for one week.
VardaValar1: We were just in Gaming news, now we're in Tolkien.
ArPharazonV: Well, did a bit of flashgaming, but nothing much worth mentioning, so eh.. continue.
VardaValar1: ah pardon, go ahead.
ArPharazonV: Nah.
fladrifv has entered the room.
fladrifv: Aiya
VardaValar1: Guess you could say that was Tolkien gaming, with the new trivia plus prizes now on the forum. :-)
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: Aiya Fladrif!

VardaValar1: In the rp, Fainan will be going to the archery range. Others of the group might meet her on the way or at the range.
AriehnV: Aiya Flad :-)

VardaValar1: Back to the Tolkien trivia game, those of us in games that aren't LotRO or WoW could collect something to give as prizes for their own branches, be it gold or nifty items, or free crafting.
VardaValar1: unofficial branches included. : )
VardaValar1: Like if you see Aragorn or Helm or others.
VardaValar1: Anyone is eligible for prizes, but they must choose which branch they want to be rewarded in. They can't get prizes in both branches.
VardaValar1: http://valarguild.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=trivia&action=display&thread=1289
VardaValar1: The trivia game is just over LotR, not H or Sil etc.
VardaValar1: For today's trivia in the meeting, we could each give a question over the Hobbit. If you'd rather get started on the forum game instead during your limited time, just let me know.

VardaValar1: Those up for Hobbit trivia, please say Aye.
ArPharazonV: Aye
AriehnV: aye
ArPharazonV: I don't mind. Took a look at the forum game, knew some, didn't know others, and figured since I don't like PMing people I'd leave it there.
fladrifv: Im very time limited but will answer when I can :-)
VardaValar1: You can pm Eonwe though.
VardaValar1: ok, sounds good.
VardaValar1: Arien, fire your question when ready.
VardaValar1: We're going in alphabetical order to ask questions, one apiece, then done for tonight.

AriehnV: okay .... what was Bilbo doing when he was "caught" by Gandalf before the adventure started?
VardaValar1: Blowing smoke rings.
AriehnV: indeed :-)
AriehnV: easy peasy start
VardaValar1: Phar, your turn.
ArPharazonV: Hrrrm. I should probably go get the book if I want to think of a decent one.
VardaValar1: We'll wait if you like.
ArPharazonV: Allright...
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: Aiya

ArPharazonV: name all the things the trolls were considering doing with Bilbo and the dwarves, and were arguing about.
VardaValar1: Aiya Indis : )
ArPharazonV: Aiya!
VardaValar1: A bit of Hobbit trivia in AIM. The LotR trivia forum game has started, including prizes; pm Eonwe with answers on the forum.
karakedi25: I have already done so
VardaValar1: Huzzah!
VardaValar1: Maybe between us we can remember all of what the trolls suggested.
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Cooking was the intention. So they considered ways such as skinning, mashing.
AriehnV: hmm frying ..
AriehnV: grilling i think
fladrifv: have to unfortunately sleep namarie all
karakedi25: namarie
ArPharazonV: namarie!
VardaValar1: Namarie Fladrif, thanks for coming!
AriehnV: namarie flad sweet dreams
karakedi25: and I don't think eating them raw was an option, though it's what I would have expected from trolls
fladrifv: waves and dissapears in the forrest
ArPharazonV: No skinning, mashing, frying or grilling in those words, though synonyms might be used for some of those.
VardaValar1: If they had to, they might've eaten them raw. Cooking allows for more variety of flavor.
VardaValar1: Boiling?
VardaValar1: Stew
ArPharazonV: Boiling's in there :-)
VardaValar1: Hah! One down.
ArPharazonV: Though it's one half of one of the methods, actually.
karakedi25 has left the room.
VardaValar1: One-half down. : )
fladrifv has left the room.
VardaValar1: Roasting?
ArPharazonV: Roasting them slowly, accepted!
karakedi25 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: *whew*
karakedi25: I'd expect some variation on barbeque
ArPharazonV: So you're at one and a half now :-)
karakedi25: what was the whew for?
ArPharazonV: She got roasting.
VardaValar1: Use a spit?
VardaValar1: So far we have roasting slowly; boiling and something.
AriehnV: use a spit would be barbequeing
ArPharazonV: No using a spit or barbecueing.
VardaValar1: Not where I'm from, aArien. : )
karakedi25: obviously they'd cut them up and put them into the microwave :-P
VardaValar1: hehe
AriehnV: huh that would be something .. giant dwarf kebap with exotic Hobbit in the middle after six ..
ArPharazonV: Cutting them up is.. a synonym. Should I count it?
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: hacking, dicing and slicing (you can say you saw it on TV)
VardaValar1: Sure, or we'll never make it through.
ArPharazonV: It was mincing, actually, but that was a good try, Indis :-)
ArPharazonV: Mincing them fine and boiling them was the complete method, so you now have 2 out of 3.
VardaValar1: We have: roasting slowly, boiling + unknown something, cutting up (mincing).
VardaValar1: Yay!
VardaValar1: Sounds like aforementioned stew but they probably didn't call it that.
karakedi25: goodness, the trolls had big vocabularies
VardaValar1: Trolls weren't as stupid as people think, apparently. : )
AriehnV: like the idea of dwarf kebap tho :-( i magine how well Gandalf could have made them argue about who to put in which place on the skewer :-D
VardaValar1: Take them another week to choose the order!
AriehnV: *giggles*
VardaValar1: One more.
ArPharazonV: The third one would not use any form of heating, and was rather crude.
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Cook them under the coals? o, not heating.
karakedi25: hobbit tartare
VardaValar1: Dwarf sushi?
VardaValar1: Break them apart and eat them without cooking?
ArPharazonV: Close.
karakedi25: grind their bones?
karakedi25: bone meal--lots of calcium
VardaValar1: Trolls get big eating food of this kind.
ArPharazonV: It didn't involve their hands either.
karakedi25: hobbit salad
karakedi25: squash them
AriehnV: dwarf salad a la shire
ArPharazonV: Indeed, Indis! Can you give more detail?
AriehnV: hmm sit on them?
karakedi25: presumably by sitting on them or stamping on them
ArPharazonV: Correct. Sitting on them one by one.
ArPharazonV: And squashing them... into jelly.
AriehnV: messy l.. youc
karakedi25 has left the room.
AriehnV: yuck
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: ick...but then I'm not a troll
VardaValar1: That sounds like it! Grats to Indis. : )
ArPharazonV: Grats to all contributors :-)
karakedi25: we should have done this one on Halloween
AriehnV: hehe we ll keep that in mind
VardaValar1: Thank you, Phar. : )
VardaValar1: Indis, would you like to ask your trivia question from the Hobbit?
karakedi25: I'll pass. Not really up on the Hobbit and haven't seen the movie yet.
VardaValar1: I'll take the last question.
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.

VardaValar1: The dwarves traveled in barrels (closed lids in the book) escaping Thranduil's halls in the river. At one bend in the river, the barrels hit a point of land that stopped them. Elves there collected them together with ropes to form rafts, but did not get to look in the heavy barrels because it was night. They moved the collected barrels as rafts pushing the rafts along with others on land fending the barrels away from land. What instrument did the raft elves use to move the barrels and rafts?
VardaValar1: (Sentence could be better.)
ArPharazonV: Big sticks would be the obvious answer.
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: True. What would those big sticks be called?
karakedi25: I've been disconnecting, so I missed the first part about the big sticks.
AriehnV: staking
AriehnV: stakes or poles
karakedi25: Varda, would you mind a copy-paste for me?
VardaValar1: VardaValar1: The dwarves traveled in barrels (closed lids in the book) escaping Thranduil's halls in the river. VardaValar1: Arien, one of those was right.
karakedi25: those would be punting poles
VardaValar1: Poles, aye to Arien and Indis. :-)
karakedi25: used in England to push recreational boats in the river
VardaValar1: Also used in many swamp areas for rafting.
karakedi25: yes, same idea
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.

VardaValar1: Arien has a YouTube to share with us. : )
AriehnV: aye its a nice song and the video used for company might seem familiar
karakedi25: sorry about the crappy connection. The FIOS people are coming to fix it for me tomorrow, but in the meantime, I'm using my travel router, which isn't as powerful.
AriehnV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ThArDEFA4c
VardaValar1: Thanks, Arien. : )
VardaValar1: Indis, good luck with the connection. That must be really awful for your gaming!
AriehnV: i can actually see a vague link between the lyrics and the scenes picked
karakedi25: it's annoying
AriehnV: can imagine Indis
AriehnV: been there done that
AriehnV: you get nothing done .. dont dare to do a group thing because the moment you start getting a grip on the boss .. bong gone
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Here's a neat YouTube, includes a little barrel riding but not the main thing:
VardaValar1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQy-LrdfVWI
ArPharazonV: *grin* I'll check both after I finish this level, because flash crashes sometimes if I have too many things open.
karakedi25: someone is gaming while she chats *grin* not of course something I would *ever* do *giggle*
VardaValar1: surrrrre. ;-)
karakedi25: yuppppp
VardaValar1: Since we finished what we were intending to do, declaring:
AriehnV: hmm no? *points at shiny halo"
karakedi25 has left the room.

VardaValar1: After-meeting!
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: we are in aftermeeting?
VardaValar1: Aye, we are
VardaValar1: Surfing for a good dwarves in barrels YouTube. : )
ArPharazonV: There we go :-) Now I'll check em!
karakedi25 has left the room.

VardaValar1: that's a behind the scenes too.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25: sorry, *he not she
VardaValar1: Surprising lot of behind the scene for the new Hobbit movie out there.
VardaValar1: Here's yet another, although the music drowns out a bit much:
VardaValar1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVmOq-eFkis&NR=1&feature=endscreen
ArPharazonV: Looks like that second one is taken from the blogs.
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Well, part of it.
VardaValar1: They have a transcript of it, guess they realized they drowned out too much.
VardaValar1: Still looking for a really good one
VardaValar1: The blogs are probably the best way to go.
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Bombur on air guitar...
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.

ArPharazonV: Speaking of the movies, I was watching the movie for the Discworld novel Color of Magic earlier this week...
ArPharazonV: what a surprise to see ol' Sam Gamgee as one of the main characters :-)
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
VardaValar1: You lost me there, Phar.
VardaValar1: The actor?
ArPharazonV: Yes. Sean Astin, I think?
VardaValar1: Aye
ArPharazonV: I thought "Hmm.. he may be wearing glasses, but that face.. and that voice..."
VardaValar1: Something to check out for sure!
AriehnV: during the perfomance of Neil Finn? at the premiere?
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
AriehnV: that song definitely has something ... and that performance wow ... so tribal
karakedi25 has left the room.
karakedi25 has entered the room.
karakedi25 has left the room.
VardaValar1: I enjoy the Discworld novels. Sorry to have missed the film adaptation. Sounds like something to be looking for.
VardaValar1: Christopher Lee is in it too. :-)
ArPharazonV: True :-)
VardaValar1: TV movie, 2 parts. That's how it got missed. Should have put something like that on the big screen.
VardaValar1: I'll try to leave AIM up. It is After-meeting so you two don't forget to get some sleep before the sun comes up. : )
VardaValar1: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1079959/synopsis
AriehnV: Good night i ll try to do my best since it doesnt get really dark at the moment :-)
AriehnV: sleep well once you get to it
AriehnV has left the room.
ArPharazon-V: Namarie :) I'm still finishing up a few daily quests.
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has left the room.
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has entered the room.
ArPharazonV: Namarie :-) I'm still finishing up a few daily quests.
You have just entered room "valarguildmeetingplace."
ArPharazonV: Weird internet loss there. Well, saving and sending transcript.
ArPharazonV: If I missed anything after Arien leaving the room, it's up to you, Varda.
ArPharazon-V: saved
VardaValar1: Thanks :-)
ArPharazon-V: sent
VardaValar1: Nothing was said other than by you after Arien's leaving, no worries.
ArPharazon-V: So painful. Disconnected 10 minutes before the daily reset, and only had one to do in the entire Isle of Thunder line.
ArPharazon-V: When I came back.. it was 1 minute after the reset.
VardaValar1: ouch!!!
ArPharazon-V: Well, all done. Namarie!
VardaValar1: Nighty night :-)
ArPharazon-V (ArPharazonV) has left the room.
