VardaValar1: heh, I've been handling weeds and flowers, so snow is interesting!
VardaValar1: The rest of you seeing a white Christmas too?
karakedi25: no, thank goodness
karakedi25: *hates snow and ice*
VardaValar1: Then you must be in the right place!
ArPharazonV: Been mostly rainy the last few days, really. We had some snow but that's been gone for over a week.
karakedi25: not necessarily. DC area can have horrible snow and ice storms
karakedi25: now God's Country aka
karakedi25: SF
VardaValar1: God's Country, that would be Texas. ;-)
karakedi25: Bay Area...another matter
ArPharazonV: Is it God's Country because of all the plagues and natural disasters?
ArPharazonV: And floods?
VardaValar1: Plagues?
karakedi25: Not in the Bay
ArPharazonV: Raining frogs?
karakedi25: Area
VardaValar1: Yay frogs!
ArPharazonV: Well, they do call big tornadoes the fingers of God, etc... and he's been known to cause some horribly weather events in the bible ;-)

VardaValar1: Web:
VardaValar1: Do check out the Games Site that Eonwe has totally revamped and help catch any messed up links or info. He corrected a few links this last week.
VardaValar1: Ahh, the sun is rising.
VardaValar1: (Arien just came online.)
AriehnV has entered the room.
VardaValar1: Aiya Sunshine : )
AriehnV: aiya Queen of the Stars :-) Good to see you back
VardaValar1: Any membership news, Arien?
VardaValar1: Good to be back!
VardaValar1: Into the Christmas cooking now. Sauron kindly caught the oven for me a minute ago.
VardaValar1: Burned cornbread in the stuffing would just not be right.
AriehnV: cool :-D , my mother sent me a box of home made christmas cookies :-)
VardaValar1: awww, nice!
VardaValar1: We sometimes make stories or poetry that's seasonal, such as Eonwe's Christmas story a while back. Feel free to let us know if you do anything for the site that's seasonal. We'd enjoy seeing it.
VardaValar1: Happy birthdays are back up on the News page, belatedly. Please forgive my not keeping up with it. The forum does a nice job of handling it, luckily.
VardaValar1: I mostly just know of them if they're listed on the forum, also.
VardaValar1: Coming up time again to let me know if folks are still wanting to keep up their association with Valar for the coming year.
ArPharazonV: Lifetime!
VardaValar1: Anyone at the meeting automatically gets included. : )
VardaValar1: Yay Phar!
VardaValar1: Some have opted for lifer on the Membership site, good reminder, thanks!

VardaValar1: Gaming:
VardaValar1: Any non-WoW, non-LotRO news you'd like to mention?
VardaValar1: Brood War for Fangorn, Sauron, and myself.
VardaValar1: Star Trek Online by Sauron.
VardaValar1: Lots of zombie fights for Bilbo.

VardaValar1: WoW:
ArPharazonV: Hmm, bit of flashgaming but nothing special. If Arien remembers the game I mentioned last week, since she was playing it.. I'm now at 3-8 ;-)
VardaValar1: Elwing says she's been playing Horde side heavily.
ArPharazonV: Or was it 2 weeks ago? Not sure.
VardaValar1: Ahh, nice. Read about that on the transcript. Arien mentioned it's addictive. : )
AriehnV: was last week Phara :-)
VardaValar1: Most of the WoW gang that still plays is on the Alliance side however.
AriehnV: and say hello to Elwing .. I feel a bit of the same Horde surge at the moment hehe
VardaValar1: hehehe
VardaValar1: I do pop in there once in a while too. Been sadly neglecting poor WoW lately, but hope things will settle down a bit after Christmas madness. : )

VardaValar1: LotRO:
VardaValar1: Bad me, didn't write the last run we did there.
ArPharazonV: Don't forget to do the WoW Winter Veil daily if you want the coal pet!
VardaValar1: Ahh, thanks!
VardaValar1: Friday in LotRO we ran 12-man Barad Guldur.
VardaValar1: Lots of folks are farming the first boss. We went a bit past it, but ran out of time. We kept subbing people in but it just was too late a start.
VardaValar1: It was a joint run of Valar and Palantiri with some guild friends like Lycius of Lhee group (Kindred of the Blade) and others, all of whom we thank for the fun and fat loot.
VardaValar1: We were fortunate enough to have not just 12 but other folk that kept subbing in.
VardaValar1: We went through a ton of changes from Update 9, including new 3-man instances and scaling for Dol Guldur instances. We're still getting used to the changes, but are happy to have new content and loot.
VardaValar1: Indis, you have some comments?
karakedi25: excellent new mechanics spread from Rohan to the rest of the world, like remote looting
VardaValar1: Aye! Very handy.
VardaValar1: A necessity on a warhorse, just nice in other areas. : )
VardaValar1: Any other comments on gaming?
VardaValar1: Here's the patch notes for LotRO's Update 9:
VardaValar1: http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Update_9,_Against_the_Shadow,_Official
VardaValar1: Any other business, new, etc?

VardaValar1: Tolkien:
VardaValar1: The Hobbit movie is out. How many have had the chance to see it?
VardaValar1: *raises hand*
VardaValar1: O wow. Not many had the chance or they're afk.
karakedi25: not yet
Glorfindel VG: same
ArPharazonV: Not seen it yet. But this just seem like the right time to share a link related to it...
Glorfindel VG: how about a report on it varda
VardaValar1: The Real 3-D seemed better than the regular 3-D. I've seen both ways, but didn't get to see the high frame rate version yet. *snurfle*
ArPharazonV: http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/20121221 I'll just leave this here.
VardaValar1: Go ahead, Phar
VardaValar1: Thanks : )
VardaValar1: heh
VardaValar1: That's one way of looking at it. : )
Glorfindel VG: lol
VardaValar1: The movie had a special problem to deal with and did it admirablly, but expect it to mean changes.
VardaValar1: They had to cut the book into three pieces and it was written as one piece. Plus they're including foreshadowing and the start of the Necromancer (Sauron) arc.
VardaValar1: They had a mix of dark and light-hearted.
VardaValar1: The music is gorgeous, the scenery needs to be seen on the big screen. : )
VardaValar1: *struggles not to tell spoilers*
VardaValar1: I enjoyed it, but do remind everyone of the caveats.
ArPharazonV: I don't mind spoilers, but let's keep it safe for the transcriptreaders.
VardaValar1: It is not going to be just like the book, just can't be and make it a complete movie, but they kept the idea of it.

VardaValar1: So, what would you like to see included in the Hobbit movie if you were making it? : ) Just jump in with whatever you think of.
VardaValar1: (Could be in any of the three parts)
karakedi25: links or foreshadowings to what came before the story and what comes after
ArPharazonV: Aragorn.
Glorfindel VG: the white council's trip to dol guldor would be fun
Glorfindel VG: guldur*
AriehnV: I am going to see The Hobbit tomorrow :-)
VardaValar1: Wonderful! Don't let us make you too sleepy!
VardaValar1: And don't drink anything at the start of the movie. It's a tad long and you won't want to leave!
AriehnV: hehe okay
ArPharazonV: I want the sense of complete darkness in the tunnel leading to Gollum.
ArPharazonV: Let them put that in a movie.
AriehnV: film staarts at 2.15 pm so time for plenty of coffee Varda :-D
VardaValar1: Good deal, Arien
VardaValar1: Some of that wish list is included. Yay!
VardaValar1: Sadly I saw no 10 year old Aragorn. Maybe I missed him in the background somewhere, but was looking pretty hard.
VardaValar1: We do get the dwarves' and hobbit's view of things, making it a bit different from our usual view.
VardaValar1: Maybe in the extended....
ArPharazonV: So... a bit lower to the ground?
VardaValar1: Maybe so!
VardaValar1: Aye, the viewpoint does come from lower down. : )
VardaValar1: Also it has flashbacks, but from a dwarven point of view. Ok, must stop talking and giving away stuff. : )
VardaValar1: Shall we call it here and let folks do a bit more gaming and getting ready for Christmas? : )
ArPharazonV: Unless you have a more substantial topic?
VardaValar1: Not at the moment. Made a mad dash up here from the kitchen, very hobbity.
VardaValar1: The views of the Shire are wonderful, pulling way back and letting us see the real Shire spread out for us.
AriehnV: *imagines Varda with a flowery apron in a green blouse and blue skirt with yellow stockings and brown sandals flying from computer to kitchen trying to save the chrismas roast"
VardaValar1: I need to take off, family requesting my presence for Christmas preparations. We are hoping to have a nice little gathering including Meriadoc.
VardaValar1: lol
VardaValar1: Fusion ovens are quite a wild thing to handle!
AriehnV: what by the light is a fusion oven?
VardaValar1: Hey, a bit of star stuff really helps heat up things. ^^
ArPharazonV: It works on nuclear fusion from stars, then?
VardaValar1: Aye. We have all those Vanyar helping out at Mount Taniquestil. Indis can probably tell some crazy stories!
VardaValar1: *swings gavel*
VardaValar1: *tsssssss*
AriehnV: *sends a handful of solar dust *
VardaValar1: Oops. Table now has a hole burned in it.
ArPharazonV: Fusion gavel?
VardaValar1: Aule, we need a new plank over here!
VardaValar1: Eh, well, little mistake. : )
AriehnV: get that lazy ulmo to haul some water over
VardaValar1: You all have a wonderful Christmas week!
VardaValar1: ack, it's raining now! My hair!
AriehnV: must he always over do it *dries Vardas hair with some gentle exhtra beams*
VardaValar1: *heads back inside the mansion*
VardaValar1: Hey, that's what Valar do. ;-)
VardaValar1: Namarie for now!
AriehnV: Namarie and have fun :-)_
AriehnV: and a very nice Chrismas feasting
VardaValar1: *hopes to read some wild tale in here from Indis*
VardaValar1: *whooosh*

AriehnV: she ll see it in the script
